Clean rooms, a littler small but very comfortable and prepared with all things you may need. The staff very friendly. Parking accessible. I recommend for sure.

This is our 2nd stay everything was good. Well takem care of and updated. Everthing looks new. The shower is a bit small and the there is no vens in the bathroom for the heat. But aside from that we will keep staying here.

We had a wonderful stay! The shower was small but everything was up-to-date and they thought of everything (even had a small nightlight in the bathroom!)

My husband stayed and said it was well taken care of. He did have some problem with the ac unit but the manager brought in a portable one to make up for it so that was good of them. Over all he said he liked it and it was next to were his mom lives so very helpful. He said he will make it a place he will stay again when we visit his mom.

My room was well appointed with a very comfortable leather reclining chair, desk, mini fridge/microwave and a host of complimentary beverages and snacks. Even the modern bathroom offered a basket full of toiletry supplies. This property is a hidden gem, and I would definitely stay here again if I’m in the area. It was a very pleasant departure from the large chain hotels I usually end up staying in.

The Amherst Inn was a very convenient choice for the event we were staying for at nearby Sweet Briar College. It was easy to get to and the staff was very friendly and informative about things to do and places to eat nearby. The room was clean but small, the ac worked great, and the outside appearance and parking area was neat and safe. It was well lit and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with lots of extras like ear plugs, razors, and toothbrushes (individually wrapped); the shower was small but, again, very clean.

Excellent little motel. You can really tell the owners have worked hard to make the rooms clean and beautiful. There are so many little thoughtful details. You can tell they love their little motel and are putting in the extra effort to make it a special place.

Recently refurbished--just lovely and every detail so thoughtful from toiletries to snacks and books in the room. Comfy bedding and towels too! Perfect little spot for visiting to town or college and the owner and his family are gracious hosts.

Really clean room and facilities. Well maintained. Also, close to multiple types of stores (food lion, gas station,etc).

An adorable little roadside inn that goes the extra mile in making guests feel welcome. Lots of goodies in the rooms, a plush blanket, secure and decently quiet!

WAY overpriced because of college graduation weekend. Tiny room. No breakfast or restaurant. This room is worth maybe $145 per night - they charged me $368 Including tax. Horrible AC unit. It’s a motel, not a hotel. Room is cute and quaint. But did I say tiny?

We were so pleased with this motel! They had imagined every possible need, down to a reading lamp by the bed in case your partner is asleep. It is absolutely charming. The snacks were perfect. Probably most important, the room was spotless. Also, the shower rocked! It was powerful and hot. I would definitely stay here again. It's a beautiful spot in Virginia.

A real great stay at this cute hotel. The service was excellent and welcoming, the rooms had been newly renovated and were very very clean. Bed was super comfortable. Attention to detail in the decor and the complimentary snacks basket was a nice touch. This is a motel style accommodation so the room are small, but the other pros offset this. There was a little musty smell in our room and the Aircon was a little noisy, but honestly don't hesitate to book this gem so close to the blue ridge! We even extended our stay one night.

Room was on the smaller side, but super clean and very well-equiped. Inside and outside showed real pride in ownership. I would not hesitate to recommend it and as a matter of fact, I already have.

Older Motel but beautifully redone, very comfy with lots of little extras in room snacks, bottled water and coffee. We will stay again.

Neal and Mina provided a wonderful place to stay that was full of unexpected and delightful touches (like muffins, a cinnamon bun and other snacks in the room). Comfortable beds, a clean and well-stocked bathroom and a very simple check-in and check-out process. 😁👍

The inn is so lovely and comfortable with many amenities. From the outside it definitely has a motor lodge feel, but the room is updated with nice furnishings. I would definitely stay here again.

This was part of a longer trip and we just needed a place to sleep for the night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was fresh and clean. It was a great place to rest on our journey.

Frankly many hotels I’ve stayed in are gross and not worth the $115+ per night (really not worth $15). However, the Amherst Inn is great! Impressed by the service, cleanliness, furniture and amenities. Thank you to the management and all employees.

It is an old motel type place, but very nice. It has been remodeled and landscaping added. You can tell they take pride in their hotel. Would highly recommend.

This property was a surprise! A renovated motel that was adorable. Beautifully appointed in every way. There was even a little seating area outside and a gazebo for smokers. The owners were very nice and the rooms came with small built in bookshelves and a magazine rack. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't enjoy a stay here.

Actually Amherst Inn is a motel ... a very nice motel. Best thought out room I have seen. Really good use of small space; the staff were lovely and very helpful. Wonderful place for our one night stay on our way to visit relatives.

Rooms were a little compact and dated (did not plan to spend much time in it). Staff was friendly and attentive 😊. Really just was a place to shower and sleep. Did meet our needs and expectations.

Absolutely delighted by my stay at the Amherst Inn. It is an older motel but has been refurbished and is in excellent shape.

This was the best surprise I've seen in a while...a 2 star hotel that felt like a 4 star! The room was well appointed, the welcome basket marvelous and all you need for a comfortable and convenient stay. Very nicely renovated and modern.

Everything was clean but room kind of smelled of smoke

The room was smaller than most and had only a queen bed. However it was very tastefully decorated and well equipped. There were free snacks, a very confortable bed and wa s very clean and well maintained. Service was friendly with a wonderful restaurant for breakfast nearby.

What a nice place!! Immaculately maintained grounds with a cute gazebo remotely placed for smokers. I’m not a smoker and I thought what a good idea!! Not only was there the usual soaps and common toiletries but there was even a disposable razor, free snacks and water. A microwave and mini fridge round out the usual amenities. Can’t say enough how nice and reasonable this old school motel is. Highly recommended!!

This is a refurbished old motel. They appear to have done the best with what they had, but the room is small, the shower tiny, the thru-wall air conditioner is noisy. The bed is comfortable and the pillows are better than most other hotels. No drunks talking too loud in the hallway because there are no hallways. It also appears to be the only habitable choice in Amherst.

This was a horrible experience. Upon arrival the very rude gentlemen informs me an email was sent on Friday stating that my credit card was declined. I called master card right there on speaker and he was told no one had tried to put any charge through and that there was $6,500 dollars available on that card. My brother and sister in law had also booked there and he checked and said Oh their card was declined too and an email was sent. This too, was just an out right lie. Their card too had never been had any charges even tried to be put through. This was extremely upsetting due to the fact we were there for a family wedding and no where to stay or get ready. Upon investigation with people who live in the area they have said this is a common practice with this hotel. They will give your room away on the day you are to arrive to any customer that calls and charges them more than the original rates. This is nothing but a scam. I will never book through hotels.com again. I assumed you only delt with reputable hotels and this place has had a problemsfor a very long time with this exact experience we had.

The staff were pleasant and the check in was very quick. The room was so clean. We were provided with several snacks, coffee & tea, toiletries, a hair dryer, a mini fridge, a microwave, a television, WiFi, and the usual standard amenities. The bed was comfortable, and all of the appliances in the room functioned properly. The furniture looked very new and stylish. They even made a guide for local businesses and restaurants in the area to keep in the room. If we are in the area, we will definitely stay here again. We had a better experience here than at most common chain hotels. I would recommend reserving a room in advance only because it is a smaller establishment and room availability could be limited.

The only thing I didn't like was the 11am checkout time. I prefer the standard noon checkout time. Also the shower was on the small side.

Amazing room and location! My best friend and I spent the night after attending a local wine festival. The room was decorated beautifully and the location was very quiet.

They utilized the space available very well. The only problem I see is the shower is small, but they used the space they had available.

I was very pleased with my stay. If I could change only one thing, it would be that the shower was bigger.

What Amherst rooms lack in size they make up in updated features and added hospitality such as providing snacks and bottled water. We enjoyed our brief stay!

The Inn was very nice, clean and quiet. I would certainly stay there again. I was disappointed that there was not a dresser to put my clothes and the shower was small for a plus size person. I don't consider either of these a reason to not give the hotel a positive review!

We booked Amherst Inn as the place we stay in Lynchburg was booked. We were pleasantly surprised. The Innwas closer to our destination, was very clean and was very "cozy" - nice bedding (even firm and soft pillows), unexpected amenities (snacks in room, toiletries for the "I forgot" in the bathroom, books on a shelf in the room. Also large TV with lots of channels. Will stay again if in the area.

Stayed here multiple times. consistent. very positive experiences every time. only draw back is bathroom shower is small. They have done well taking an older building and decorating the rooms in a very cozy home-like feel. Will continue to stay there.
