Reviews
The hotel is generally well-staffed with friendly and helpful employees, particularly at the front desk. However, there are issues with maintenance and cleanliness in some rooms, and the hotel could benefit from updates. The location is convenient for those visiting Johns Hopkins University or exploring Baltimore.

Our room, reserved for two, was clearly a single: no chair except a desk chair, the desk had no outlets for a laptop, no wastepaper basket except for a tiny one in the bathroom, a small double bed that had been advertised as a queen-sized. Breakfast facilities were only available on the first day of our stay; after that, nothing was available (except room service) because of a conference that occupied the main receiving area. Apart from these physical inconveniences, the staff was uniformly polite and friendly.

No major complaines. Just an old building but rooms are well maintained.

The staff was very friendly & helpful. The breakfast at the Alizee was DELICIOUS 😋

Yes, we were in a connecting room, it seemed paper thin walls. The room next to us they were awfully loud, but at least they stopped at 1100pm

This is nicely located across from the Homewood stadium location, where graduation for John Hopkins Students took place. It is clean but a bit outdated. There was no pool but when we were there it was stormy. We have no complaints as the hotel met all of our needs.

Love this hotel! Rooms are clean, and cookies are delicious. Excellent location, and lots of restaurants behind the property that I didn’t know about before. Staff is super nice and accommodating.

The staff at The Inn at the Colonnade were exceptional! They were accommodating, helpful, and welcoming from start to finish. The suite was spacious and offered a very intimate setting. The location is also accessible, making it perfect for a staycation. Overall, it was truly a wonderful experience!

The breakfast was ok, nothing special. If I didn't need to be close to Hopkins, I would have chosen a hotel that included breakfast instead. Parking. For 2 years now we've stayed at this hotel, because our son goes to Hopkins - and for 2 years, the parking never works with the room key so every single time, I try it - then I have to take a ticket and take it to the front desk to get it stamped. It's time consuming and really annoying - especially to pay $50 a day for it.

Not much. The water went off mid shower. "Hotel emergency" No attempt to explain or compensate. Even a free coffee would have been better than nothing. If I were as wealthy as the Hiltons, I'd have given everyone a free night's stay. Never staying at a Hilton property again.

The bed was comfortable, and it was nice having a living area to set in, and the balcony was nice. Upon check out we wasn’t aware that the parking was an additional $192.00 for 4 nights. Guest didn’t park for free as most hotels offer. We paid almost $2800.00 for four nights in what was a mediocre stay. Wouldn’t recommend spending the money. The location was nice.

The bathroom outlet was no where near the mirror! Was impossible to do my hair without a mirror. The thermostat would not go below 68 degrees. The front desk even sent a maintenance person however apparently I was told that is just how it is. Can’t be adjusted!. It was a digital thermostat that I believe was pre programmed to stay within temperature range the hotel sees fit. 68-73 degrees is not acceptable. Will not return to this hotel for this reason.
- 5/5
Amazing staff!

When I asked them for a different blanket instead of a duvet they did it right away.

Convenient to the venue we had an event at. Convenient parking. The staff was extremely helpful. I loved the late check out. We would stay there again. Crazy elevators. The hot water ran out during my shower.

very nice hotel and rooms; room new or newly remodeled; bed comfortable; staff could be friendlier; parking charge excessive; for price complimentary coffee or water in lobby would have been nice
- 4/5
Staff was nice, and when we called for things, they were quick to respond, room was clean and beds comfortable, the food we ordered was good, only thing was bathroom needed update, the ceiling in bathroom looked like a bad patch up, but we would stay there again and it was very close to family home

- 3/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Older hotel with a lack of modern amenities. Parking beneath the hotel was expensive and poorly lit. I would probably make a different choice next time I visit the Johns Hopkins university area of Baltimore.
- 3/5
We were told to use the hotel room card key to access the garage but that didn’t work so we needed to get a ticket and then have it validated every time we left the property. Also in the one bedroom suite the TV in the living room had no connectivity to the cable box I needed to go to the front desk because they never answered the phone when we called. So I went down to the front desk and told them the issue and then they sent up a maintenance person who went to get a cable and reconnect the television.

- 4/5
Overall very pleased. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was fine nice to be able to pick up breakfast there. I’m not happy about my bill first I got charged for someone else’s meal at $95 and I called and that got removed. But now I’ve had two charges both under $100 that make no sense so I guess I’m gonna have to call which is annoying to get it all straightened out.
- 4/5
I don’t travel much anymore so I don’t keep up with current hotel policy. I didn’t realize that you have to turn on a light on a panel if you want to have your room cleaned up. But someone brought me what I needed so I’m ok with that. Bed was as expected. Staff was very helpful.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel and service
- 1.5/5
Facilities are a mess. Elevator call button didn't work. No access to gym before 7am. Outrageous charge for garage parking when there's free on street parking available. Staff seemed unmotivated. Broken front entry doors. Very strange lobby layout. Feels very dated.
- 5/5
We stay here often and are never disappointed. The staff is warm and friendly. Great location!
- 5/5
We had a great stay and it started with the warm and happy welcome from the woman that checked us in on our arrival. This was our second stay here and I know I will choose it again in the future.
- 5/5
The room was very nice, clean. There was coffee and a refrigerator in the room which was very convenient. We enjoyed the balcony with the table and chairs. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed a nice meal at the hotel restaurant. Very nice stay.
- 5/5
Excellent location and upbeat, friendly staff.
- 0.5/5
Nothing Non-refundable If you cancel, modify the booking, or don't show up, the fee will be the total price of the reservation. Plus you have to pay for parking. $48 added to your stay. All vending machines are out of order. Smallest bathroom ever. Horrible view
- 4/5
Room was clean, location was great. There was a very loud HVAC -type noise that went on all night, and the hallway to the rooms smelled like cigarettes
- 3/5
Too expensive for what it is, parking too expensive. Your advertising buffet breakfast and there is none. Restaurant was in lobby not a good ambiance felt like eating in the hallway.
- 3/5
It was ok, clean and safe but bathroom showed its age. The parking here is 48.00 a night that’s so much more than parking almost anywhere in inner harbor Baltimore. It’s super convenient to the Loyola campus . But way over priced for what it is. I have stayed in Baltimore three or four times a year and this was my least favorite choice other than proximity to campus. This is a 140 dollar a night property at best.
- 5/5
The Colonnade was lovely. The piano in the lobby was fun to play

Front desk staff when I checked in was very rude.

The room was spotless. The staff was courteous. Check in was fast and easy.

The room was cold, I adjusted the thermostat, the tub has a block filling device on the stopper. The upcoming weather made me check out early and left the keycard at the desk, but the request was not implemented until the next day. Your cameras have a record of my depature.

- 5/5
The front desk staff were great, very friendly & helpful. Rooms were comfortable & clean
- 5/5
I believe that all of my expectations were met.
- 4/5
We liked the service, cleanliness, comfort, and ease of parking, check-in, friendliness of staff. I got several texts from staff asking if our needs were being met and when I answered them I got prompt replies. Some furnishings and appointments seemed a bit “tired.” The overhead light in the sink area worked inconsistently and the lever on the bathtub spigot that changed the water from bath to shower was broken.
- 2.5/5
There is no mirror in bedroom.
- 4/5
Location is great for JHU (John Hopkins University) visit. Short walk to a few restaurants nearby. Room was perfectly clean and comfortable. They need to hire more staff to help with serving at breakfast / dinner. The poor single staff member was often run off her feet trying to deal with everything. Laundry facilities were in another building. You had to go to the 2nd floor to buy washing powder (with $1 notes), then to another building to use the washer/dryer which only took quarters. Just a little annoying, but worked fine.
- 4/5
I think the fee for a dog is a little out of control.

The hotel was beautiful and the location could not have been better for us. The breakfasts were delicious as well, and there was a lovely buffet over the weekend. The staff was also amazing; we even got water and cookies! Wonderful stay. Would really like for parking to be a little less expensive, especially since it is self parking.

The staff gave us water and cookies. They are very nice to answer our questions. And the facilities are really great.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful would definitely stay again.:
- 5/5
The only minor defect was that an electronically operated "do not disturb" sign did not work for my room. Otherwise everything was excellent. I had an easy time getting parking and could park myself (I hate valet). It was very easy to reach the hotel from a drive out of town -- very close to a major freeway. It was ideal for my work requirements -- literally across the street from Johns Hopkins University, where I had a committee meeting to attend. I could easily store my luggage in my car and leave it in the garage while I attended my meeting, then drive home afterwards. Breakfast was fine, with a very well-cooked steak in my steak and eggs. Service was cheerful and competent. I would definitely reuse this place for a future visit to JHU.
- 4/5
Location is perfect for visiting my daughter . I was out in a room near the ballroom with parties scheduled in it two nights. People were very loud and disrespectful late at night in the hall outside my room . I would not accept a room in that location again . Also they ran out of coffee lol
- 3/5
No amenities! Very bare aesthetics. Lacks warmth.
- 5/5
Love it here. Great place and the staff is so friendly
- 5/5
Quiet, clean, great location, reasonable price for the value.

Check in seemed overly complicated given that I had already checked in online. Heating system was so loud that it woke me up in the middle of the night but otherwise ok.

Clean pleasant room. Difficult sticky door for handicapped person
- 2/5
This is the worst double tree hotel I have ever stayed in. It is so tired and in need of renovation! Absolutely no extras like a good restaurant, breakfast, pool. Very conveniently located to John Hopkins but that is all!
- 5/5
We were visiting family living near Johns Hopkins University. It was a perfect location and within walking distance of several restaurants, the university, and stores.
- 2/5
Expedia website said parking is $30 and I now see I was charged $50. Now I have to learn why this switch in price.
- 5/5
Room are spacious and staff are pleasant.

The staff was amazing. We got there a little early and they were very took cate of us. Stayed overnight. Went to a concert at the Ottobar. Super convrnient location.
- 5/5
Love it here. We will always stay when we are in town. The front desk manager is the best!!
- 5/5
This was a beautiful building. The staff was amazing (including the restaurant). Parking fees are a little steep but convenient garage. It was very easy to walk around Johns Hopkins University from here.
- 5/5
Really wonderful stay. Very clean room. Excellent staff. Comfy beds. Very quiet room. Walkable to dining and shops.

Needs replacing
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly.
- 5/5
Love it there. We also love our favorite lady with a great smoke at the front desk. Always so helpful and nice
- 4/5
Nothing to say. Great stay
- 2/5
The hotel billed me for a smoking charge and neither my wife or I smoke.
- 5/5
It was clean and comfortable, but it’s alarming that there were no grab bars and tub mat in the shower. The shower floor was slippery and a real hazard to even those of us who don’t have a problem with balance. When I mentioned it to the Desk Clerk, while checking out, he replied that whenever someone mentions it to him, he passed it along but nothing changes.
- 1/5
Dirty, noisy, unsafe overall.
- 4/5
Walkable and safe
- 5/5
There was a large group ahead of me and there was only one person working the counter. She did a great job and was very sweet even though she was very busy.
- 1/5
This place is loud, dirty and lots of rust around the room doors & windows. The elevator is also out of order.
- 5/5
Hotel is absolutely amazing . Great staff . I would just recommend parking on street in front of hotel . Hotel parking is $50 a night
- 4/5
The rooms need remodeling.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 2/5
bad quality bed, no accessories like slippers, charges for bottled water
- 4/5
A small microwave would be helpful and convenient.
- 5/5
I enjoyed everything
- 4/5
If you are visiting JHU, this location is great. O
- 4/5
I would have given 5 stars if the parking wasn’t $48 per night and the mobile key worked smoothly for the parking garage and room, but it didn’t. A great location and no brainer for JHU. I will be back.
- 3/5
spacious, convenient, fridendly staff. However, it had been built for years, facilities were old. The bed is extremely low and not very comfortable. As for a quick and convenient hotel, it is good.
- 5/5
If you are visiting JHU, this is the hotel for you. It is right in the middle of things, with both a handy cafe inside and plenty of dining options around the area.
- 5/5
Convenient location clean and the staff were accommodating and friendly
- 4/5
Good stay. They should have more food options throughout the day
- 4/5
Also, no dining area other than the lobby...prefixed charge for dinner was $45...looked like a cafeteria...did not choose to eat there.
- 4/5
some lights are borken
- 4/5
Was a nice property.
- 3/5
The showers are a tight fit, even if your are fit. They were having some elevator issues when we left. Parking is expensive and a narrow fit in the underground garage. We ended up with a scrape on the side view mirror.
- 5/5
My stay was pleasant. Hotel felt safe and many things were walking distance.
- 3/5
This property is long overdue for an update. The bathroom is small, the tile is chipping and even the pillow cases had some dirt stains. The pillows themselves were so flat. The room was quiet and safe, so that was appreciated. Location is convenient to Johns Hopkins. But it very much needs upgrading. Feels like it hasn't been touched in almost 20 years.
- 3/5
While I under the pricing is higher due to the location, I expected more for the cost. The toilet had a large crack running down the front of it and the toilet seat was pitted and uncomfortable, it clearly has seen some things we shouldn’t speak of. A few of the outlets didn’t work and the AC was awful. The building itself was nice and modern, and the restaurant was decent too. The staff was very courteous as well.
- 4/5
It is the closest hotel within Johns Hopkins
- 4/5
Vague smoke smell in the room. Non smoking room is my major request.
- 5/5
Very convenient location
- 5/5
- Security: I felt very secure during my stay. The elevator system requires a card key to operate, which added an extra layer of safety. - Mobile Check-In and Key: The mobile check-in process was seamless, allowing me to select my room in advance and use a mobile key to access it. This tech-forward feature saved time and made the entire experience smooth and modern. - Cleanliness and Room Condition: The room was spotless and in great condition. Everything felt fresh and well-maintained, from the crisp linens to the modern furnishings. The in-room refrigerator was a nice touch. - Parking Convenience: Parking was a breeze. The hotel offers convenient on-site parking, which made it easy to come and go without any hassle. For those driving in, this is a big plus. - Location: The hotel’s proximity to JHU was a major highlight. It’s just a short walk or drive to the campus, making it incredibly convenient for my campus tour. - Bathroom Amenities: The bathroom/shower and the sink are separated. Overall, my stay at the Inn at the Colonnade was comfortable, convenient, and secure. It’s an ideal choice for anyone visiting JHU or exploring Baltimore.
- 3/5
Just OK. Beds were comfortable. Room was a bit warm but thermostat was not adjustable. No door on bathroom main entry to sink area so those still sleeping are disturbed. Bathroom section where toilet and shower are is very cramped. Parking under Inn was convenient but ridiculously high ($48 per day extra) and frustrating as machine rejected ticket several times on exit before it finally worked. Expected better overall for price paid. The surrounding area near Hopkins campus is nice and well kept but venture more than a few blocks away and it’s a pathetic story. Graffiti everywhere, homeless lying on sidewalks, trash everywhere, crumbling row homes, teens at stoplights insisting on “cleaning your windshield” for money. Sad and stark contrast to the Hopkins campus environment.
- 3/5
Okay
- 1/5
Property was beautiful housekeeping wasn’t that good staff was amazing. Had elevator problems. My stay could’ve been a lot better but you know it’s OK. I still had a great time, but we definitely could’ve had a better experience.
- 3/5
the staff were so great and helpful but the property is run down and dated. Great location to be near Johns Hopkins but needs a refresh.
- 4/5
Convenient to be around JHU.

- 5/5
Location is perfect for JHU activities.

- 1/5
Not so good
- 1/5
unaccomodating place. My mom had to go to hospital but they dont understand human decency to give a refund.
- 4/5
The room was OK. I was a little disappointed with the lack of desk since I was traveling for work and needed to get some things done before and after meetings. It may have also just been what was available since I asked for an early check in. The hotel restaurant left alot to be desired. I never saw anyone dining there and each time I went down it just seemed like it was closed. I ended up DoorDashing dinner. Overall it was an OK stay for the one night I was in town.
- 4/5
Chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to a place we were visiting. Check in was quick, hotel seemed clean and quiet. Only negative was that it said there was a micro wave in the room and there didn't seem to be one. We didn't need it but I'll check next time just in case. There was a small refrigerator. We only stayed one night. The breakfast in the small restaurant in the lobby was good but not free like in some hotels.
- 4/5
Convenient to Johns Hopkins. Clean. Friendly front desk and restaurant staff. Had breakfast at 7:00 a.m. and it was pretty good with an omelet station. Only critique is not knowing how to turn on the shower head...my husband had to google it!
- 5/5
It was convenient to JHU.
- 1/5
The Chef decided to cancel room service on the weekends because he was too busy managing busy weekend due to college graduations. No excuses! No steak and eggs for me. Crab omelet was sad. No butter on dry english muffin. I thought I was in a 1 star hotel. Kind lady finally brought me a tray of food. No condiments. Sad.
- 3/5
barking dog down the hallway made sleep difficult

The property itself is fine - it's clean enough. But the parking garage fee is outrageous. You pay a premium for. a just ok room - it hasn't been renovated in awhile and isn't anything spectacular - and then they try to charge $50 for parking. That's just nuts. Parking should be free for guests. Nothing says you hate your guests more than insanely high parking fees.

The king room we had, that was supposed to be an upgrade, smelled like smoke badly. The bed was also very hard and uncomfortable. The balcony we had was big and peaceful. Everything else seemed pretty clean. We had room service which was nice since we got in later than expected.
- 4/5
An ok property, outdated for sure as people said. Parking is insanely priced for a night. Restaurant is not really that. Staff was nice
- 4/5
We were not there for a long stay. However, going forward to visit my daughter at Loyola we will be staying here more frequently.
- 4/5
Very good location on John’s Hopkins Campus and very nice rooms.
- 4/5
Parking at this hotel is expensive.

The ceiling was stained and had cobwebs. There was one piece of floor tile that set up higher than the others that I continually stumbled over. The hair dryer was absolutely covered in hairspray and hair product scum. The refrigerator gurgled loudly when it ran and every time its compressor cut off the television would turn off and back on. Apparently the coffee Maker had not been cleaned in a very long time because the coffee tasted like swamp water. Very very disappointed

Overall great place to stay in Baltimore. Right down the road from places to eat. Some things to improve, hotel bar closes at 10 pm. Breakfast wasn't the greatest, food was good but service was actually super slow and disorganized. Very nice area though and would def stay there again.
- 5/5
The beds were amazing. Close to schools and downtown

Excellent Services

The hotel was very clean. My room was great

Staff were great, Large clean room, Met all my needs while in Baltimore visiting family. Will stay again soon.

The evening front desk staff was the best. The morning restaurant staff excellent as well.

We stayed one night for a wedding at the Baltimore Museum of Art. It was close enough to walk which was awesome. Bummer that breakfast was not included. Had a nice bard area to watch the game.

About billing and parking .. he spoke with respect and confidence.. very knowledgeable. I was happy to have stayed.. Maria gave me ice in dining area for my room.. machine on floor was not working.. also very professional and knowledgeable about dining and so respectful

I'm always fascinated by this facility. It seems to us that it is only half-heartedly in business. The lobby is enormous, not logically separated, and poorly used. The entry door right in front of the registration desk is blocked off by a bench, so people can come in and out that door. On this trip, someone appears to be investing in the lobby cafe/coffee shop space, which has been unused since the pandemic, best we can tell. The event space above the fitness center appears to be a musty storage space. The ice maker on floor 3 doesn't work. The newly purchased ice maker on floor 2 is still wrapped in celophane and cardboard since the last time we were there. The thermostat in our room can't be set below 68 when on heat, yet 68 feels like about 75 in the room (but again, can't be turned lower). The beds are fine. The bar is fine. It is 1 of only 2 hotels anywhere near Johns Hopkins University with all its sport events, graduations, and other needs for hotel rooms. It should be booming..."only game in town". But if you told me that DoubleTree had decided to close the facility before we are there the next time, I wouldn't be surprised at all. It appears as if you are halfway there already.

Horrible service. Room horrible. Heat off - I froze. Changed room, still horrible. Dirty. Stained bed linens. No hand soap. Night time staff rude and indifferent. Plus!!!! Parking overnight was $50 and it was self park and disgusting. WORST HOTEL I EVER STAYED AT!

Stay it self was ok. Nothing exceptional. However the hotel charges an exorbitant amount to park for one night. Highway robbery and no where in the booking process did I see this mentioned. Avoid.

Expensive parking - not mentioned in making reservation. Heat difficult to adjust.

The only issue was with the bathroom in the accessible room. It was a bit dirty and there were some strange stains on the walls.

There was no water after the first day, once water was restored, there was no hot water

Steve, VP of Operations, at this property is very unhelpful. I had an issue with my booking and he would not offer me a refund. There are better options in Baltimore.

I think some employees were having a social gathering at 2am in the morning next to my room...making loud conversation. Family couldn't sleep for hours and my wife had to go downstairs in the middle of the night to complain to the front desk. When I checked out, didn't see like the folks even cared. Also, ice machines all broken. I paid money for this?
