Nightshade Inn & Gardens

This is our second time staying, and the hospitality, cleanliness and overall welcoming atmosphere was as positive as the first time. Very comfortable and easy access to the Finger Lakes. Would definitely stay again, highly recommended.

Darling motor lodge with friendly and accommodating owners. My room was quiet and very clean, I will definitely stay here again.

This was our first stay at Nightshade. My son lives in Marcellus and we were looking for a place that was close to him, economical, and clean. We found this place to be ideally located, and I can't say enough about our beautiful smiling host! It was great to have coffee and light breakfast items available before we headed out for our day. We will certainly be back in the future.

The owners are extremely nice and the rooms are very clean with well thought out amenities. It’s the kind of road side motel that was common before the invasion of chain lodgings. It felt good to be patronizing an owner operated business and contributing to the local economy, especially since the quality is higher than the corporate competition. I guess the pillows could have been softer but then someone else would complain about that, so whatever!

We really enjoyed the fresh fruit and snacks. It was a nice touch. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. It was the absolute best combination of home and upscale hotel. The road noise was sometimes loud, but what else can you expect when it's a motel on a main artery? Overall, it was not intolerable, and once you're asleep it doesn't matter anyway.

I had wished there was a second door lock option other than just the dead bolt for security, especially if I had been traveling alone.

The pillows were not that great

We loved this quaint little gem. It was spotless and had personal touches of fresh fruit, snacks and waters. The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. They were very attentive to us and were very hands on. I had booked a few rooms for a graduation and was pleasantly surprised. They had little chairs and table outside of each room and we were able to take our chairs and gather together. Will definite stay again if I find myself back in the area.

Despite the issue that I had I would stay here again.

Hidden gem

Just a roadside motel, but very clean and fine for an overnight if you just need a place to sleep and shower. The bathroom was bright and spacious, the shower was nice and hot. The bed was a little uncomfortable for me, but my husband thought it was fine. There was a nice sized refrigerator in the room and a keurig in the lobby. A gas station/convenience store is right down the road and the village of Camillus is a short drive. If you are not looking for a full service hotel, I would recommend the Nightshade. Quiet, safe and clean.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Each room comes equipped with a microwave and a fridge. It would be nice to have a small table to sit at in the room, but perhaps the room is too small for a table.

Staff was so helpful, room was so clean and renovated, facility is well maintained. They put some snacks and fruits on my room which is great and thoughtful. 5 star!

My daughter & I wanted to visit Skaneateles. Nightshade was just a 10-15 minute drive. Looks like 1950s motel from the road, but very cute, clean & well kept. Our room was as nice or even nicer than some upscale, expensive places I’ve stayed. Very clean, sleek & stylish. The bathroom was gorgeous! Looked recently remodeled. There was bottled water & bowls of snacks & fresh fruit in our room, which I thought was a very nice touch. Coffee, tea, fruit & pastries were available each morning in the office. The owner, Sing, was very friendly & accomodating. I will definitely stay here again when visiting the area.

This location was close enough to the university that I could easily move between the two. I felt very safe and the room was very clean. I wish the tv had local stations. I was unable to watch live TV unless I put in my personal information which did make me comfortable.

Classic quaint motel, parking right at the suite’s door. Very clean, recently very nicely renovated rooms. Complimentary coffee and pastries in the morning. Nothing really. Everything was as expected and comfortable.

I really enjoyed my stay at Nightshade Inn & Gardens! The staff was accommodating and friendly, the room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and had a very “homey” feel to it. The bathroom was the same way. Will definitely recommend staying here to friends and family when visiting, and I will be staying again myself!

The Nightshade Inn offered a comfortable stay that was very clean and conveniently located just outside of Syracuse.

I booked this room through expedia and needed to modify the reservation upon arrival and stay one less day. Our flight into syracuse had been delayed and we were making stops along the way to dropping my son off at college. 3 other hotels were able to make the change for me with no issues. The owners at nightshade were either unwilling or unable to make the adjustment. Also, the internet was spotty during the afternoon and would not work for my laptop or the television both of the nights we stayed here. The room was fine, the owners were friendly but for our purposes it wasn’t great. We did sleep well though so that’s something.

Place was updated and well kept. Enjoyed the in room fresh fruit, bottles of water and granola snacks!

Although the motel was dated, the staff made us feel very welcomed . The snacks and fresh fruit as well as bottled water was a personal touch . The updated rooms and absolute cleanliness was a plus ! Convenient location too.

We didn’t stay. We left. The room had an odor that made my wife sick. The mattress on the bed was old and too thin. The room was also tiny. I do not understand how it was rated so highly. There were zero amenities. It’s a roadside motel that was listed on your site as a hotel

The room was immaculate and comfortable. The snacks and fresh fruit were a lovely touch, as were the tables and chairs outside our door, which provided a pleasant place to eat.

Great little place to stay, it was close to our family who lives near by

The motel was very clean however very dated, especially the exterior. Since it was so close to the highway, I worried about car theft, as well as someone breaking into our room with the outside door. The inside was clean, but again, dated.

Stayed with my 2 little ones and felt so lucky to find such a clean comfortable place to stay. Owners are so welcoming and have it loaded with extras upon entering room with snacks and waters. Everything is spotless. In the morning they have a coffee bar with muffins and oatmeal. Highly recommend.

Great location, well maintained, clean, affordable and the staff member was friendly. My only concern was that the interior of the main door to the room did not have another layer of safety, which would be a lock from the inside only.The door only has a deadbolt, so anyone with a spare key or ability topic the lock would be able to enter. I would suggest an inside bar lock. Otherwise it was a great place and we would stay again.

The staff were very hospitable. Although breakfast was not listed as an amenity, the hotel staff provided fruit, granola bars and muffins. The rooms are clean.

This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for a clean, no frills place to stay. The upgrades are nice and really create a comfortable space. The location was perfect for us to visit our Syracuse student and also to venture into Skaneateles. The owner provides lots of thoughtful extras that make you feel welcome and glad you came. Good old fashioned personal service which is refreshing in todays world.

The room was VERY small with a musty odor. There were insufficient towels and what was there were old and threadbare. The worse thing was we came back from a wedding rehearsal dinner, and I went to put on my pajamas that were hanging on a hook in the bathroom and they were soaking wet…..like they had been put under a shower! Very disappointed at this accommodation. Now I see why it is fairly cheap. You get what you pay for.

A small very clean motel in Camillus rooms were small but adequate size. Every detail was was clean .the beds are a bit soft but sleep able for a short visit The innkeeper was polite and professional.Fresh fruit and beverages were available in lobby office. Bonus!! Easy check in and easy checkout. Close to all the bigger highways.beautiful community of farms and homes .If I'm ever in the area again I will go back.

The people running this establishment are extremely friendly and a beautiful family. I was fortunate enough to meet their two month old baby girl when I checked out, what a cutie. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bottled water, snacks, and fresh fruit in the room was such a nice added touch Fantastic. You can tell they take great pride in what they do. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It’s not a really fancy place, but you definitely get your moneys worth.

Nightshade is my go-to hotel for visiting Central NY. Close to Syracuse, clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet for being on Rt 5. The owners are very friendly and always leave snacks in the room. Affordable as well. Give them a visit if you are in the area.

It was good. Just stayed one night. The owner was nice. My only complaint is i thought i was charged when i booked it since it gave me the option to pay now. He charged my card when i checked in… so basically it wasnt pay now. Hotels.com said some places do that. So be aware! That hotel i thought was paid for, actually wasnt.

Do not let the outside appearance deceive you--it is obvious that a lot of personal effort has been put into making the rooms clean, comfortable, and functional. We appreciated the firm beds, excellent bedding (worlds better than most at similar motels), larger refrigerator and ceiling fan. Road noise was negligible. Felt the sense of hospitality when checking in and appreciated the welcome snacks in the room. Would definitely stay again.

Fruit/snack provided in room upon check in. Quick to go continental bfast available in the office at checkout. If checking in after hours, (after 9p), arrangements need made with the staff. This information was not on Expedia. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Our stay was great! The owner was super friendly upon check-in and offered to provide recommendations for the area. He left treats in our room along with a couple of waters. The room had a fridge and microwave, along with a plate and napkins, and after dinner mints. The beds were cozy. The entire room was clean and while the motel is older, the room was nicely updated. The bathroom was nice and the pressure from the showerhead was great. We were very happy to find this little gem and will definitely stay again!

Stayed here for Syracuse Parents weekend. Nice place, excellent host. A little removed from Syracuse. Loved the goodie basket in the room. Also loved eating in downtown Camilus at Second Chance Diner

My stay was 1 night, for a family event and it was a good choice. A bit old fashioned, which I found charming. Owners were very friendly, room was clean and comfortable, with fruit, snacks & bottled water left for me! The price was great too, and while Rt 5 is very busy, the location was perfect for my needs. Will definitely book again when I need to come to town.

I found everything spotless and very chic. The amenities in the room and (in the morning) in the office were first-rate. I needed nothing more and appreciated the friendliness of the owner.

My wife, daughter and I stayed 2 nights recently. It was one of the few locations available in the area because of the new york state fair. Therefore they charged us almost $300/night instead of their usual $150. On the second night, around 10pm, my 7 year old daughter stepped off of the bed and was stung by a wasp. We had no windows or doors open, not even in the bathroom so we had no idea how it got in. My daughter spent the rest of the night screaming and crying in pain. The following day i mentioned it to the manager who offered only his apologies. Later that same day another wasp was in the room which terrified my daughter. We found out there was a nest swarming with them in the awning just outside of our room. I complained to the manager who offered a refund, which he assured me he'd take care of on Monday. After trying to contact them on Monday and Tuesday, im confident that i was lied to and will not be receiving the refund in was promised. My daughter spent the next 48 hours in intermittent pain and crying throughout the night.

Even had fresh fruit in room! In a.m., in the office, fresh brewed coffee and tea bags (hot water) available with danish, bananas, and cinnamon rolls. Close to doing events in Syracuse such as NYS Fair and visiting family.

As an aside, I was checking in as a single female at the same time as two single males. When the owner handed me my key, he lowered his voice. I thought this was an extremely thoughtful way to behave. Thinking about any potential safety issues and my feelings was kind.

I booked this particular hotel because of the amount of the many 5 Star ratings. When I arrived at the hotel and got to our room, I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and well prepared for guests. There was a small fruit tray set up on the one stand and in the shower, there was quality shampoo and conditioner and they even had Dove body wash there. This place treated you better than some of the high-priced chain hotels and this place has only 10 rooms and if ours was any indication of the treatment you receive then it is the perfect place to stay while in Camilus.

Recently renovated, well designed, impeccably clean, very pleasant staff/owners.

They make you feel so at home! The room was cozy and very clean, as was the beautiful bathroom. There was bottled water, fresh fruit, and healthy snack bars set up in our room. Liked that the breakfast lasts until 1100am. Goid for those landing at the airport late. I'd be happy to come back anytime I'm in the area.

Nightshade Gardens was just what we needed on our road trip from Vermont to Ohio: reasonably priced, conveniently located along our route, updated, clean and comfortable with friendly, welcoming staff.

The room is very clean and looks newly decorated. The manager was very helpful and pleasant. We had a welcome basket of fruit, cookies and granola bars in the room. All in all an excellent experience, I would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Very clean, friendly place to stay. My daughter and I were very comfortable in our 2-bedroom suite. We felt safe and were able to sleep peacefully.at night. The Inn keeper/owners keep the rooms and the grounds clean and manicured. I loved that the owners were environmentally conscientious - installing shower gel, soap and conditioner.dispensers in all of the updated, clean bathroom showers. This helps rid us of single use plastics. Very glad I found this peaceful, comfortable place to stay in upstate NY!
