I really didn’t like it much The old guy who checked us in talks too much and assumed to much of what we want and do and make little remarks about things it was really unprofessional and the rooms are old and outdated and dusty, there’s a hole in our bedding and a hair in our shower

Conveniently located to our destination, front desk attendant was very pleasant and engaging in conversation.

Nothing, this property did not look nothing like it’s online photos showed.I did not feel safe from what I witnessed outside just walking the parking lot and a man asked what I was looking at in a very menacing tone. Then the room key did not work, when it did the room was not pleasant smelly and the walls were dark dingy and just looked dirty and the WiFi signal was not stable. I went to the front desk asked for a refund and desk manager told me to contact Booking.com because he had not been paid yet, so I did now I now have to see if I get a refund. I did not stay I went somewhere else. It was the worse experience I’ve ever had using a booking app. I would never send another customer there.

Check in was super simple and when we slept through check out they were totally accommodating and understanding while we got ready and got our stuff out.

Spent a Saturday night before a trip and the rooms were nice and clean. The check in was fast. As well as the check out. Parking was well lit and seemed secure. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend a stay if you’re in the area and need a place.

Fast check in with Les put me into a clean & stunning room. All the amenities were perfect all the way down to the bed folds. Great hot shower & nice cool a/c. Very comfy bed with lots of plush pillows. Will come again...

It’s always a pleasant experience when I stay there. Easy on and off the freeway and it’s quiet.

Unfortunately, the bedding was not clean. The pillows were visibly dirty—one looked like it had been stepped on with a dirty shoe. Shortly after getting into bed, I became itchy and believe I was bitten, which made it impossible to sleep comfortably. I have sensitive skin and could tell dust had accumulated. I barely slept due to this and was very disappointed, as cleanliness is non-negotiable.

The rooms ARE neglected. First room assigned had four doors 3 were locked one bathroom door but no closet so, technically by building code standards, it isn't a bedroom.

The night manager and staff were very helpful and good. The room was absolutely filthy. Hair and stains on the sheets. Hair in the bathtub and on the bathroom counters. Overall the hotel was run down and dirty, not well kept. I told the hotel staff, they gave me another room. Second room was even worse, hair on sheets and a giant yellow stain on the bottom sheet as if somenone had peed on it! I went back to the first room and I asked the hotel staff for new sheets and changed them myself with the help of the night manager. Even the new sheets had mystery stains, but they came out of the clean laundry hopper so had to make do. Had kids that fell asleep in the car and we didn't want to go looking for a new hotel late at night in an unfamiliar town. Otherwise I would have left right away. I don't know why this place has good reviews, do not go!

Someone was smoking outside the room and the smell just came through. Have people smoke in designated areas. When I checked out the lady at the desk saw me waiting and she was on her cell phone for 4 minutes. She did not acknowledge me. This was at 10 A.M. on Tuesday 1/6. I stayed at the Economy Inn next door 6 year ago and the service was way better.

I was accused of smoking marijuana in the hotel room which I never did smoke any marijuana in the hotel room also due to my son both my kids actually have chronic asthma I smoke away from them and my card is repeatedly charged I've been there two weeks plus they clearly see me smoking outside all of a sudden I'm moving to my place today and you guys want to be weird. Why wait now, maids have horrible attitude the front desk reeks and smells like nothing but cigarettes and smoke they're always lacking on towels and have an attitude if I ask for a new set for a new day like they expect me to use the dirty ones never want to give me a washcloth like I'm supposed to use my hand I clean the room I take out my own trash all I ask is for towels and this is what I have to go through horrible will never go back but yet you have meth heads and prostitutes running all through the hotel day and night and I'm the one that gets problems and I'm a single mother with kids doing nothing not even there half the time once again horrible stay and I will never do it again

There’s a Safeway and some restaurants directly across the street within walking distance which was nice. I did not have a vehicle during my stay, so that was really convenient! I didn’t venture further down the street because I was there for just one night, but I think there may have been some more restaurants. Good sidewalks & traffic lights to keep you safe if you have to hoof it!

I like the staff. They’re personable in a real way, not the fakey be-nice-to-the-customer way. For me, the location is about perfect. It’s quiet, out-of-the-way, but has a supermarket, panda express, pho restaurant, and a subway. When I didn’t feel like going to a sit-down restaurant, I just walked across the street for food to take back to my room. And let’s not forget, Safeway has beer and wine to go with whatever you get.

It was easy checking in. Room was spacious & roomy. Area was quiet & very close to freeway & shopping center!

Hotel was Ok until I saw tons of bugs on window sill, made me look a little closer. Pillows were flat and not comfortable. AC worked great…it actually got too cold. Bath Tub had rust stains, sink was outside of bathroom.

There was a family who had rooms on both sides of us and they were running back and forth banging on walls and slamming the doors screaming till 12pm, wish we could have not been placed in the middle of them.

Dropped off my son at Cal for his second year. I’ve always stayed here when I travel to the East Bay Area. There is a Safeway across the street. Near downtown Castro Valley for restaurants and entertainment. Will continue staying here.

The slow check-in was due to an illness in the primary front desk person so I am assuming it was temporary. The staff was friendly and when we needed help with the TV, they responded quickly. Clean, neat accommodations which fit our needs and a good quality bed.

Room was not cleaned found trash left behing by previous visits i assume. Smoke detector was cover with a shower cap. Found electronic vapor cartridge trash around on of the beds. Futon bed when opened had some trash/ debris. On last day my wife found some blood splash on one of the door frames.

The room condition is bad.

I didn't like that no elevators, I had to take a downstairs 1 King bed. I needed 2 queen beds

Asked for a non-smoking room but got a room that reeked with smoke that had penetrated the carpet, bedding, and draiperies.

The stay was good, the location was nice as it’s across the street from a small shopping center which has a variety of stores, eateries and a small gym. The hotel is an older one, in need of a few repairs but still a nice, inexpensive place to stay.

I go to the east bay a lot for business. the area is safe,, quiet and restaurants are close by. the 580 is right there! for the price of $86 a night that's a bargain!

No microwave at all to heat food. No waffle or any other breakfast option besides warm cereal and half-stale pastries. Staff DID NOT CARE when questioned about these problems. Door to room had MULTIPLE gaps you could see straight outside through. This caused the heater to constantly be switching on and off all night long causing a very uncomfortable rest period. Sink water in room never got cold. It was barely drinkable as it was coming out barely below room temperature.

I’ve stayed at this location three times when I’ve visited my son at Cal Berkeley. The property is well maintained and staff are always welcoming. The manager is a nice gentlemen who provides good service. There is a Safeway supermarket across the street with a great deli of hot and cold foods. I will continue to stay here whenever I visit the East Bay Area.

Dirty. Stains on pillow cases, cigarette burns on bed comforter. Mold in shower. Stains on wall near toilet! Hair on towels. Uncomfortable bed. I left after 1 night it was so bad. Hotel refused to refund me for my 2nd night. Rude staff. Don’t stay here!

The receptionist was friendly though. Will strongly recommend to fix that odor issue.

My son attends UC Berkeley and we visited him for Parent’s Weekend and Homecoming. This hotel is 25 minutes away from Berkeley nestled in Castro Valley, a nice, safe and quiet town. The hotel manager and staff are welcoming and very friendly. I recommend this hotel.

The check in was swift, the service was genuinely friendly. The facilities are clean, comfortable, fresh smelling, but the walls are thin...conversations and outside traffic can disturb sleep. Otherwise, SureStay is a great place to spend the night on a trip.

This was a great location for me to stay at during a business trip. It felt safe and the parking lot was well lit. I was able to see my vehicle from my room which made me feel more comfortable as well.

The staff were nice and helpful! The room and property were very clean, and they weren't stingy with the the coffee setups! The pillows were very comfortable. My only complaint is the other bedding; The bedspread and blanket were both thin, and the bottom sheet was a flat sheet that just bunched up and came off underneath me.

The front desk receptionist provided exceptional service, being pleasant, quick, and extremely helpful. However, it was regrettable that the room I stayed in was unsatisfactory. The bedding emitted odor, reminiscent of someone who had used tiger balm or eucalyptus oil, and it appeared that the bedding hadn’t been changed. Additionally, the carpet was worn-out and sticky. Although I considered requesting a different room, exhaustion got the better of me and I ended up using my own bedsheet to sleep on. I strongly encourage the hotel to enhance the training of their housekeeping staff to ensure a higher standard of cleanliness.

The room had a really bad smell. The room also has a weird layout. The price was decent, but I guess you get what you pay for. Breakfast is a boxed apple pie and boxes of cereal.

Carpet needs a good washing.

I tried to check in at about 1:30 and the young woman told me I had to come back at 3:00. I wasn't expecting to get access to the room, I just wanted to check in so I wouldn't have to do it later. I think she just didn't want to deal with it and she knew she would be off shift by then. I had to make a special trip back at 3 and the older gentleman there checked me in and was very helpful. I later found out that other people were able to check in before three so that was a little disappointing. Other than that the hotel was great. Very clean.

The property was fine.

The room was well equipped with a larger fridge, microwave, small table, large bathroom counter. Bed was rather firm but I did sleep well. The pillows were descent too. Our neighbors were playing music, not too loud but it was tough to sleep, but at 11 it went quiet, no other noise. So we were super grateful.

Had a household emergency and family needed a room for the night. Came in late (after 10pm) and the night clerk was very friendly and helpful. He was able to give us nice room, quickly. Room was very spacious and clean. Enjoyed coffee and breakfast snacks the next morning. Overall, a pleasant experience.

IT WAS OK.

Check in was easy and the clerk was very friendly and accommodating. However, the room although clean has a very "old and stale odor" and the carpet was in need of replacement. After when has went out to pick up food and returned, we found the bathroom floor has water on the floor from a leak underneath the sink. This was about 9pm in the evening. When I placed a call to the front desk about the leak, I was told to place the waste basket underneath and a repair person would come in the morning. When I insisted that someone take a look that night, a gentleman came with a bucket and towel, dried the floor and placed the bucket under for drips. Informed me that it appeared that the washer was loose and in need of replacement. Since we were there for only one night, it would be repaired after our 11am check-out. We were not offered another room even though there were other rooms available. The continental breakfast was placed in the lobby on a counter and it was ok but we needed to take back to our room as there was no place to sat and eat there. There was a small shopping area across the street that had various stores and eateries that were convenient to the hotel. We went to the Safeway Store there to buy toilet paper as there was a half roll left in the bathroom for three people with no spare roll and the housekeepers had left the the evening. I would rate this hotel a 4/10 for the price we paid for the one night.

I am a light sleeper and value a quiet room. The Clerk who checked us in was wonderful! He gave us a room on the top floor and made sure no one was underneath us. It was quiet, clean and very peaceful. No loud walking or thuds from other units. I would definitely return.

This is an older property with exterior corridors. Upkeep is good though my bedside table lamp was not plugged in. Checkin clerk was helpful;. Breakfast offered was in a brown paper bag; blueberry muffin, granola bar, fruit and a small water bottle. It is across the street from a shopping complex with grocery store and restaurants etc.The location was convenient for my work.

Bathroom had a a sink with no counter. No where to put even your toothbrush. Also don’t look at the bathroom door, it was bad. Needed a good cleaning, which makes me ask what else was that dirty. Cleaning isn’t what it was nowadays

Right across from shopping center which is why I chose it. It is certainly no frills but for one night it did the job. I asked for a late check out and was denied.
