Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests expressing dissatisfaction with cleanliness, maintenance, and safety concerns. However, staff friendliness and helpfulness are consistently praised. The location is also a point of contention, with some guests finding it convenient while others deem it unsafe and sketchy.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Convenient location for some guests
- Cleanliness and maintenance issues
- Safety concerns and sketchy location
- 5/5
Clean, friendly and comfortable, but lack of dining options onsite is noticeable. I had delivery which worked out.
- 1/5
Pictures online are not accurate and area is not safe. Check in desk isn’t even at Red Lion, it’s at the Radisson. The building is very old, the rooms are outdated and the AC was not working on multiple floors. Requested a new room and was moved onto the same floor with same AC issues. Ended up not staying and going to South End Holiday Inn & Suites instead.
- 1/5
just dont stay here lol. Just spend the extra money to stay somewhere else. There was nothing good to say about our stay here. Ultimately, I suspect this place will be shutdown/condemned in the next year or so with how bad of a condition it is in.
- 3/5
For $70 we were satisfied with our stay. Clean room, shuttle, and parking! We checked in via the hotel next door because the red lion didn’t have a front desk open. The first room we were given smelled like a bug bomb was just released, but the second room was cool, clean and the bed was comfortable. Not the most updated room, but it was clean. While trying to sleep for our flight, the fire alarm went off but it was a false alarm. Thankfully it didn’t take too long for the fire department to arrive but it did take a while to get back to sleep. One downer, it took almost 45 minutes to shuttle back to the hotel from the airport. We also weren’t expecting our room to open to an atrium that looked abandoned- it was a little creepy. There was a functioning pool and water in the lobby.
- 5/5
My suitcase was damaged and the lady receptionist showed me where to buy one at a reasonable price.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
That was okay
- 4/5
love my stay !
- 1/5
This was a horrible hotel they were under management the room was very dirty it smelled very bad smelled like cat pee the room looked old light didn’t work I wouldn’t stay here if my life depended on when I saw the room I immediately left and booked something else it was that bad the hall ways was dirty and stank it was not up to part they lied when I booked it looked nothing like the picture it so much I could say but I’m just gone leave it here
- 2/5
Not safe or clean
- 4/5
The lady on the front desk was fantastic! No request was too big or small. Room was comfortable and had everything I needed.
- 4/5
Not a bad room to spend the night in at all! Very simple. Had a lot of keycard issues, but the lady at the front desk was so sweet and understanding. The shuttle staff were all very kind and helpful as well!
- 3/5
Room was clean, staff was nice. Not the best area but for the location it makes sense. AC unfortunately did not work well and got hot but I’m sure it was just that room
- 4/5
No breakfast, a lot of homeless in the area.
- 1/5
The hotel was closed I had to go in to my room from another hotel, their was roaches all over our room I tried to talk to a manager about it and no one was available. There was a shooting in the hotel next to my room this was the most dangerous and worst experience of my life
- 4/5
No breakfast offered. No coffee. Airline shuttle ok. Room clean and large.
- 1/5
Staff was not helpful at all very unprofessional environment & Bed Bugs !
- 5/5
Very good
- 2/5
Terrible all the way around. Bad section of town, the Red Lion is actually boarded up and you have to enter thru the hotel next door. Homeless everywhere and roaming the hotel halls begging for money. Pot smoke pervasive. No ammenities in the rooms and every surface is sticky. Totally misrepresented.
- 2/5
Good staff and nice but not what I was expecting. The smell in the hallways said “old hotel” and same thing goes for the rooms.
- 5/5
Amazing staff clean room
- 2/5
There was no breakfast. Tub was dirty and hall smelled like an uninitiated
- 3/5
The lady that checked us in was super nice gave us food recommendations. Room was clean some outlets didn’t work hair dryer didn’t work and the water from the shower got all over the bathroom floor , checked in at the radisson desk and then she put us all the way at the end of the hall
- 2/5
To top it off, there was NO Breakfast due to the kitchen being under renovations which is something that we should have been informed of either on the website or during the check-in process. And the few times I went to the lobby the attendant was either not there, outside taking a personal call, or sitting in the lobby on their phone. They looked like guests until I noticed their name tags. All in all it was an uncomfortable and inconvenient stay.
- 3/5
Yes pet friendly
- 3/5
I enjoyed my stay
- 3/5
Staff was friendly and responsive! The room was clean and the airport shuttle was a huge plus.
- 1/5
Halls smelled like urine, very dated decor, hotel parking lot used for prostitution
- 5/5

- 3/5
They don't have the free breakfast available and it should be noted when booking.
- 1/5
Add on here is not what it is when you get there, room had roaches and stains everywhere things was broke.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service very welcoming rate 10/10
- 5/5
Verna was great reception was great 10/10 on ppl they need a lil more in the installation tho
- 1/5
I arrived and was told you were overbooked and no rooms were available and to contact expedia for a refund. I left then when I contacted expedia you guys said there were rooms available. I was lied to and it made me look like a liar
- 4/5
When this was a Clarion, there was coffee in the lobby. Now, no coffee and a non working pod maker in the room
- 4/5
Staff was courteous. Rooms were clean. Hotel could be updated a bit as it is rather dingy looking. Appreciate the shuttle service to the airport.
- 5/5
Staff member where amazing. Great stay
- 4/5
Im going to give this place a five because the staff and environment were amazing and even though there were some issues, it My husband and I stayed here and we did like the hotel but we couldn’t really enjoy the hotel like we wanted. 1) there is this huge room where I assume people can gather and enjoy the space, it was under repair and we couldn’t use the space. 2) we could not enter on our hotel side, we had to enter through the hotel connected to ours and the poor receptionist would get overwhelmed by the amount of people checking in. Only 1 girl for 2 hotel computers. 3) no breakfast in the mornings. Apparently the kitchen was also under repair and only coffee and water was at the entrance. 4) our bedroom coffee maker and microwave did not work at all so we couldn’t use them and our shower sprayed and leaked everywhere. Unfortunately we did make a mess of water every time we showered. 5) underneath the beds were messy and dirty. Immediately as I entered the room, I checked the beds and there was garbage and candy underneath both beds. The wooden frame underneath one of the mattresses was exposed underneath the bed. I have a toddler and to me this is kind of dangerous.
- 5/5
everything was good
- 2/5
We were suppose to have had breakfast offered and it wasn’t. We tried and tried to call from the airport for a shuttle and no one ever answered the phone.
- 4/5
shower did not work was just a sprin kle, airport shuttle to return to airport shutdown and had to uber that cost $58
- 2/5
The property was dirty and run down - elevator even felt unsafe. The staff were unprofessional but friendly. No amenities in the room. Poor TV service.
- 3/5
The room was nice. No soaps or hair dryer was available. The front desk and our shuttle driver spelled like pot. He did a good job driving us.
- 1/5
First room had mold in it we found after our first night and our kid was sick from her allergy. Moved rooms amd instantly roaches were all over. They claim restaurant and lounge are under renovation but that area clearly looked as if nothing was going on. Its beside a strip club and a homeless camp. We left immediately.
- 2/5
Lots of construction. It was pretty rough. Homeless people living there. Would not recommend.
- 4/5
Room was good
- 3/5
We left early
- 5/5
Didn't get
- 1/5
The hallways were dirty and damaged. The rooms had a stale smell with a view of a wall outside the window. The window, curtain, window sill were very dusty, the sticky dusty that has not be removed in months. There were lots of drug addicts around the vicinity. There was no persons tending the front desk and directed to the adjoining front desk of the Radisson hotel. I did check for bed bug unsure if there were any but I do have a few bites and itchiness that I did not come in with.
- 5/5
All of them
- 3/5
The Red Lion had very recently been taken over by the attached Raddison Hotel. The rooms I requested were unavailable due to renovations so we were stuck in full-sized beds instead of queen-sized. We booked two rooms. One room was fine. The other original room smelled like smoke and had a bunch of cockroaches. They moved us and the other room was fine. The staff that we interacted with were fantastic but there were other problems besides the room issues mentioned. We started the stay with watching tv in The Red Lion lobby. After the first couple days, the remote disappeared and the tv was off. We didn’t have it again. Also, the lobby was closed because of the take over so the Red Lion front doors were set so they only opened for people going out. However. After the first few days, the doors would not open at all. It felt like a fire hazard.
- 3/5
We checked in to Red Lion while on our way back frim Florida to Canada, hoping we will have breakfast as it was included in the trip cost. Upon checking there was no kitchen, no breakfast. I had little kids and this was all very inconvenient to go around and get breakfast when we imagined it will be at one place.
- 3/5
Very mid. Room had small damages and bathroom did not have soap. We were disappointed that there was no breakfast even though its advertised and the photos are not like what you get
- 3/5
Yes
- 3/5
The room was clean. Outdated with some wall and other plugs very worn.
- 3/5
A set of air pods were left behind. We called and asked if someone could find them. We were told they were not in the room. We can see from our devices that the air pods were absolutely still in the room. If someone has them we would like them sent to us and we will pay for shipping.
- 4/5
There was no breakfast.had to walk through anothernhotel to get to ours ,which meant a ling walk with luggage.staff were fruendly riom was clean and spacious
- 4/5
Cleanliness as well as great hospitality
- 3/5
Staff are courteous, location is not good!
- 3/5
The room was old, the phone didn’t work so
- 5/5
Staff & room were perfect . Highly recommended. Will stay there again
- 5/5
Glad I stayed here. So convenient near the airport and with on time shuttle service.
- 5/5
Nice
- 2/5
Garment rack on the wall was coming off. Everything looked tired. Beds were clean and crisp. It was a last minute booking due to air traffic troubles. Shuttle van also was lacking working seat belts. Cracked seats.
- 4/5
The checkin staff are great. Friendly and accommodating. Building and rooms are older and it shows especially in the bathrooms. Some need more TLC than others. Beds are clean and comfortable. It is quiet. Nice to have a place on site to grab a quick basic meal.
- 4/5
It’s an ok hotel for a quick one night stay
- 4/5
The area around the hotel was a little unsafe
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful and the young lady that my husband and I met at the front desk had such great customer service, She made the experience of staying at Red Lion the most memorable one. Please forgive me, I don't remember her name, just her face.
- 1/5
My original room had a mold smell that would take you out of here you could not breathe. The room was not in good condition. The second room was not two clean but better than the first room which they said it was an upgrade but it really wasn’t the condition just wasn’t as bad as the first one. The problem with the second room on the fourth floor was it smelled like gas it was so strong it had me lightheaded and couldn’t inhale I told the maintenance men and one said he knew they called someone and they came out and said it wasn’t a problem and it only smelled like that because the boiler room was on that floor. I said there are boiler rooms in all buildings and it is not leaking gas smells if so something is wrong. But management was nice and gave me my money back. I did not stay there I left the hotel immediately with my family.
- 4/5
The airport shuttle was excellent, very friendly. The entire staff was friendly. The interior was a little dated. I felt safe during the day but I did not feel safe leaving the hotel after dark.

- 5/5
Nice and clean
- 2/5
The area is really busy with foot traffic which wasn't a problem because no one bothered us at night.Plus some guy sitting in the lobby warning us about the prostitution that goes on at night....My main concern with the hotel would be the roaches that came out from behind the TV mount and room 1334. We were moved to room 1119 same issues more small baby roaches crawling across the bed and walls. At this point I had already driven many hours and wanted to lay down so I stayed until 7am my daughter on the other hand left in the middle of the night due to the bugs. Which she was the only reason I came to town was to visit. The hotel needs little improvement with bugs and cleanness. I would not recommend to anyone.
- 4/5
The lighting in the room was not that good. Elevator stopped on the 2nd floor but the door didn't open. Room was decent just not light enough. 2 of the wall sockets didn't work nether did the sockets on the lamps.
- 3/5
Coffee maker didn't work & my first night staying there was a roach on the bed
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The airport shuttle (shared with the Radisson) runs once per hour (each way) and I had to phone the hotel on arrival at the airport to access it. There was a fitness suite and restaurant on-site - but I didn't use either. For public transit, there is a bus stop a 1-min walk away and the Lynx Blue Line (metro) is a 10-min walk away. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores (in car fuel stations) within easy walking distance. I would happily stay here again.
- 4/5
I don’t realize I had to put down a $75 deposit and pay for the room for $76. I was told I’d get my deposit back in a few days.
- 3/5
I stayed for 3 nights. They never brought towel or wash clothes. When asked they didn’t have any ready, I asked two hours later and still nothing. I had to beg for a washcloth.
- 1/5
Was not in the best area of town, lots of homeless walking around the area, room had crumbs on table next to microwave.
- 3/5
The room was beyond my expectations for the price. It was clean only problem I had was the bed was so uncomfortable I did not rest well. But other than that the customer service was outstanding.
- 4/5
The room with clean, the hotel itself was clean. The staff was excellent, friendly and professional. The only problem was our room did not have hot water. The front desk tried to move us to a new room, but the keys didn't work so we ended up having cold showers the whole weekend. We are planning on staying again next weekend. Hopefully it's better
- 1/5
Absolutely horrible. Disgusting dangerous area. Disgusting dirty hotel. air smelt room locks were broken room was dirty. I was there for 20min trying to get my door to open but the lock the broken so i couldn’t get it and by the time i went to ask for a refund they told me my 15min was up and im past the time for a refund. I barely got a chance to go inside my new room before the time was up. Did not stay there more than 45 min IMMEDIATELY left. Stay FAR FAR FAR away from this place unless you want your car broke into or bed bugs.
- 1/5
Arrived forth floor smelled of a gas leak paid for an upgraded room, got moved to the second floor into an upgraded room. Tub didn’t drain, tv wouldn’t work, phone didn’t work, had nasty stuff all over my headboard. Was very dirty. I would love a refund at least since I had to stay on the unupgraded room that I paid for in the first place.
- 1/5
Booked 3 rooms and all 3 had roaches in them.
- 4/5
It was a pleasant stay. There were a couple things I didn't like. The bathroom light on a timer and wifi. Seems if the sensor on the switch didn't see movement for a couple minutes the light would turn off. Couldn't find a way to adjust the light for a longer duration. Also, weak wifi signal in the room, ended up using my phone as a hotspot for the laptop.
- 3/5
The hotel layout is weird and makes you feel uncomfortable. It was dated, but relatively clean. You get what you’re paying for.
- 5/5
I had a very comfortable one night stay at the hotel. The receptionist was awesome. She helped me answer all my questions. Cause i was there for a nfl game. They bused us to and from a lil charge with free parking. My room the bed were comfy. And they had zipper enclosed boxsprings and mattress. NO BED BUGS!! The view from my room was excellent. Peaceful and quite. Ill b back for another game. Thank God my AC worked. Thanks yall Tabiha isom
- 4/5
The hotel manager, Verna, was very helpful and accommodating during my business stay. I appreciated that she remembered and asked how my show was at the Convention Center.
- 5/5
However, we were pleasantly surprised once we stepped into the lobby it’s much nicer and bigger inside than it appears from the outside! The hotel itself is quite large, and while the rooms are definitely older and a bit outdated, our stay was still very comfortable. The beds were amazing super cozy and made for a great night’s sleep. Overall, not a bad stay at all, and we’ll definitely be booking again.
- 3/5
Hallway smelled weird, clean room, sketchy elevator, no continental breakfast, had to ask for more towels and toiletries
- 5/5
Great for the price
- 4/5
The staff were nice
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Staff was pleasant and wonderful hotel was beautiful great stay for a short trip.
- 5/5
👍
- 4/5
When I arrived, the customer service at the desk was wonderful, but, there were several problems in the room... When I got to the room, there was black specks on the covers on the beds, ants or small roaches at the coffee maker, and the housekeeping did not provide us with small bars of soap (like other hotels/motels provide).
- 2/5
Air conditioner in my initial room was bad and I had to get another room. The other room had dead roaches in front of the TV and I can’t help but wonder how that could be missed! Sorry, but that’s not a good experience. I know I was trying to keep it cheap, but not that cheap.
- 5/5
Very quick stay. Great property for the price. Everyone was very friendly. Very convenient location. Absolutely nothing to change here.
- 4/5
Only was there for one night, not much to say
- 1/5
Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, I chose not to stay at your location due to safety concerns. There were several homeless individuals walking around the building, which made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. This significantly impacted my decision, and overall, I was very disappointed that the environment did not feel secure or welcoming. I hope you address these issues to improve the experience for future guests. Sincerely, Johny Stevenson Hoare Bodden
- 4/5
Friendly stagg
- 1/5
My key card apparently didn’t work and I have to have a security or a staff member to get me inside my room every time I leave. I got a call from the front desk before I was checking out saying this room was not supposed to be available and they didn’t know the name of who was staying in it! No wonder why my key card didn’t work! It’s super unorganized and inconvenient
- 2/5
I only got it for the shuttle and didnt even get to use it. Waited for the shuttle for 40 mins and turned out its for two hotels, so many people jumped in and stood on eachother we just had to take a lyft. Id rather have stayed anywhere else cause walking in the area homeless people yelled at us and its loud at night at the stripclub next door.
- 5/5
The staff was respectful the establishment itself was very nice everything about the trip and visit made me feel right at home will definitely be back
- 3/5
The staff was very nice the rooms were very hot took us three times to find a decent cool room !!!
- 5/5
i just love it
- 2/5
I had to return to the front desk three times to get into a room which was actually clean. The first two that I was given had not even been visited by the cleaning staff and in one of these, there was vomit on the bed. There was no apology or any effort made at reparations.A horrible experience to endure after traveling for hours and needing a rest.
- 4/5
A really nice property, will be really nice when they fix it up. The front desk clerk was fantastic and the young lady at the restaurant was perfect. Need to get your liquor license. Also within walking distance of a really nice bar.
- 3/5
Reception area of the property is good. Other than that, the hotel itself is not clean - while walking to the rooms. But cost wise, its Ok. 10 mins walk to blue line station - woodlawn.
- 2/5
The hotel was terrible but it also wasn’t great. There were black spots all over the headboard that I made sure to take pictures of so I wouldn’t get blamed for damages. There was also spots in the nightstand and the lamp was broken and ac unit door was broken as well. Def not a up to date hotel. I also didn’t like that it wasn’t clear that a $75 hold would be placed on my card. That was a huge inconvenience especially because I was only staying 1 night.
- 2/5
Hotel smelled of mold and mildew. Room had a large hole in the wall beside of the bed.
- 2/5
Receptionist was slow to check us in as she ate on the couch watching TV, The Wi-Fi was spotty at best, this morning receptionist was even slower checking me out
- 5/5
I did not like the crushed beetle parts, old floss picks, and debris I found on the ground. I did appreciate being upgraded to a new room!
- 1/5
Roaches in our bed and bathroom.
- 4/5
This hotel is a good bargain and had everything you would hope for in a moderate priced hotel. It was sparkling clean and well re-modeled. The owners invested a lot to bring it back. homeless people and drug dealers inhabited a short street behind a nearby shopping center. Why is the City of Charlotte so NEGLIGENT in allowing this? Charlotte voters should be outraged at crooked politicians for allowing this kind of anti-business activity to fester in in their city.
- 1/5
No hot wather
- 4/5
Quick to get to from the airport and fast check in for an overnight layover
- 1/5
Hotel was humid, had to wait 40 minutes+ for the water to get hot, phones in the room didn't work and the staff was not very helpful.
- 1/5
The property did not have hot water, the room had no microwave, and the elevator was broken the first night. Also, the property smelled of mildew. Furthermore, the house keeper came into the room to bring towels without knocking and I was seen undressed. Yet, the staff and security were pleasant and helpful as they could be.
- 2/5
I've stayed at Red Lion Inns before, but this one was disappointing, especially for $115. The staff was okay, but it went downhill from there. Some of the furniture in the room was damaged. There were cracks in the walls. I was greeted in the bathroom by a centipede and a juvenile roach. The tub surround was separating from the wall. The mattress had a large sag in the middle, which made it less than comfortable. The property (and the several others alongside) looks like it's in the middle of an industrial area. Next time, I'll just look for a Motel 6.
- 3/5
Long check in line upon arrival. Took almost 30 min to check in. Had to take a cold shower after getting to my room, there was 0 hot water. For just a night it was fine as I just needed a bed.
- 1/5
We rented a room at this hotel because it advertised having a pool. We called in advance and were told the pool was open. Our kids were really excited to swim in said pool and upon arriving after buying pool equipment like floaties for the youngsters we find out that the pool is closed for two days for freshly poured concrete. We struggled to use the microwave as all of the buttons were labeled in French. They charge exorbitant fees for the food at the restaurant ($4 coffee, $9 parfait, etc) and they didn’t even have fruit.
- 4/5
That was a good place to stay for 1 nights.
- 3/5
- 1/5
Don’t stay here… Hot Mess!!! Elevator out of order, washing machine out of order, air conditioning out of order, coffee machine out of order, key cards don’t work, phones: if you have one in your room (most rooms don’t have one) they are so static you can’t understand anything so you have to go to the front desk, pool is falling apart with pieces of cement in pool, pool not well maintained (green), housekeeping? haha when do they come??? Gym equipment out of order or broken, The area reminds me of Skid Row, many junkies next to the parking lot, restaurant: most menu items crossed out and extremely expensive; paid over $20 for 4 soda’s with no alcohol… Unorganized Management: left a new person at the front desk to fend for herself with no help, when looking for help it’s like playing hide and seek or where is Waldo…
- 1/5
They say if u can’t say nothing nice then don’t say nothing at all
- 3/5
The electronic key system is disastrous. Our handicapped room, when we finally got it, had a lock that only worked intermittently. There was no seat in the shower someone who can’t stand up and there was only a desk chair, no q
- 3/5
This hotel is just okay, but for the price it's a good deal. The building itself is in decent condition but the room was very tired. Bathroom ceiling was falling down, lots of flooding evidence, toilet was weirdly placed. Water didn't really get above lukewarm, no soap in the bathroom. The sheets and bed were clean and nice. Television was comically small. Door was not well sealed so you knew when anyone was leaving their room in the hall.
- 4/5
Old property with some aged remodeling. Great staff.
- 4/5
Other than this, I had no issues... EVERYONE was nice, people that stayed at the hotel, the staff at the hotel (from front desk to housekeeping), the hotel itself and hallways had no smell like I've read about in past reviews. The hallway was really warm, though. But that's it. Personally, I'd at least give it one more try and I would recommend for anyone to try this hotel.
- 5/5
The place it's self was good. I didn't like there was gentle man club literally basically the same parking lot. Literally like 50 ft away.
- 1/5
Stinky in a very dirty area
- 2/5
Needs upgrading the lobby had no air
- 4/5
You do not want to walk of an evening or at night. Drugs are in the street at these hours. Don’t make the same mistake I & my sister made by walking. U will end up running.
- 5/5
Beds were soft and comfy. The front staff were very nice and friendly. Great location to downtown and carowinds
- 1/5
Room wouldn’t open with key
- 2/5
Definitely needs renovation but fine for a last minute option, just way too expensive for the quality - was like $120 total. IHOP close by but that’s about it- real run down area next to a gentlemen’s club. Also the free shuttle was PACKED so almost wasn’t an option.
- 5/5
For the price i was pleasantly surprised. Really a great place, more like a hidden gem
- 5/5
Nice staff, quick shuttle to the airport, and was accommodating of my last minute booking due to airline delay
- 1/5
Unacceptable conditions
- 4/5
The bed was comfortable long wait to check-in security was great because you had people outside loitering. All in all my stay was nice. Thank-you and GOD BLESS
- 4/5
There are close restaurants in walking distance. Good hotel
- 3/5
Night staff was not the best in customer service. Morning staff were more helpful/friendly. No A/C in hallways and other parts of building. Room had A/C though.
- 5/5
I was checked in early after my family was stranded. Had an issue with the AC in my room and staff worked very hard to find me a new room to switch to
- 2/5
Charged me twice when I already had paid. Had to get my room switched 3 times because the doors ain’t work. And it was hot
- 4/5
Property undergoing a renovation. We stayed in old wing (new one not open yet). Seems like good bones for creating an upgraded hotel. Experience of room was ok/fine. Staff were helpful/great!
- 3/5
This was only for a few hours of a flight layover. The room smelled musty and the bathroom old and dilapidated even though it was remodeled. I will not be staying there again.
- 4/5
My Overall Stay was Good. They Charge a Extra $75 fee I Guess for Incidental Stuff ( In Case there's some Room Damage Etc ) So I'll be Looking to See How Long it takes to get that Back on my Card. And they Charge the Entire Amount of your Stay During the Check In Process ( Which I Guess is a Sign of the Time's that We're Living in. But my Room was Good Overall, and I Didn't have to Deal with Noisey Neighbors. The Staff was Courteous and Helpful for the Most Part.

Just need a place to stay overnight to catch next flight. This was a good choice

Hotel was nice for the price . The only thing I did not like was the smell in the hallways & how hot it was. The stay was quiet & front desk hosts were welcoming!
- 4/5
While it is an older property there is obvious new carpet and furnishings. The hot tub has been filled in and is a giant planter. The pool was dirty. The fitness room was broken and they sent us to the connection hotel to use theirs. The room was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom needs repair. The wall was peeling and the counter pulling away from the wall.

2. Room was in disrepair. 3. Room was dirty, bug splats all over ceiling, not been vacuumed properly, hole under door approx 2 inches high. 4. Went out for dinner, and a group were arriving with cameras blatantly intending to shoot adult movies. 5. Door was repeatedly tried during the night by an adult male trying to get in the room. 6. Only good thing about the visit fast checkout.

Don’t expect fancy, extravagant, or frills and fancy. It’s standard, basic, but clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to needing a renovation (carpets, tile flooring) but they did the most with what they have. Clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Everything was satisfactory, except for having to get my room changed due to the bathroom sink now working, and both dryers were broke even though only one was labeled out of order, so I had to check out with wet clothes today.

Okay I recently stayed here the hotel was looking good inside at the checking area was beautiful with a great chandelier. When I went to check in they couldn’t find my reservation expedia was the problem for that which was ridiculous. However the guy at the front desk did something and got us our room which was awesome. The next day we went out only to come back and was basically lock out of our rooms, when I went to check the person that was working there say I was only book for one night instead of two she did rectify the situation and got our keys to work again which was great. The room was standard it was okay until I realize there was mold growing inside the bedside table and there was a smell in the room like a wet or moldy smell. However I would have give overall a 2 out of 5. The hotel need some deep cleaning and evaluation

Near to the airport, shuttle bus service 24 hours
- 3/5
Room was nice and clean, no AC in the hallways or elevator. Don’t eat breakfast there. Overall it’s exactly what I needed for an overnight trip
- 1/5
The trip went left at check in. There was only one person at the desk with a line of customers. We were fresh off the road and needed to shower and change for our event. Due to the lack of employees we were over an hour late. Check in was at 3:00 pm we arrived at 2:45 just to be safe. We didn’t get checked in until almost 4:00.
- 4/5
The check in person was great, but very soft spoken, so hard to hear. Both girls at the check in were very good. The lobby was super busy and they moved everything quickly. Staff was VERY friendly. Only problem was the bathroom door looked like someone punched a hole in it. The bathroom itself was pretty small.
- 3/5
Check-in was tough, there was an issue with another customers room. My original room the door lock wouldn’t open, batteries were dead. The hallways were a sauna, so much so that the carpet was wrinkling from the humidity and wear and tear.

I called the morning I was to arrive and asked if they had a restaurant onsite and asked about the hours as our flight would get in about 8pm. The Travelocity listing stated a restaurant and included breakfast. The staff stated the restaurant was open until midnight. We checked in and went to the restaurant to find out they no longer had a liquor permit and only had half the items on the menu. I suspect they were just cleaning out the freezer. Found an amazing Honduran restaurant across the street with great food and full bar.

My stay was a little disappointing. We didn’t have running water in the sink which I did speak to the front desk clerk about but nothing got done. The phone in the room didn’t work and it would be nice to have better pillows for comfort. I was expecting to sit by the pool and that closed at 8. The bistro restaurant didn’t have liquor license to even supply drinks for those who would like to unwind. Sorry for the disappointing review but as a paying customers I would had like to enjoy my stay

Great inexpensive stay!

Main entrance felt humid but room felt good temperature wise

Rooms were hot!! Hallways were tooo hot. Pool closed too early. Breakfast had to be paid extra!! Staff was rude not willing to change rooms due to air conditioning not working!!
- 5/5
Nice and clean , would definitely stay here again .
- 2/5
The room was not at all like the pictures. They only do room service upon request yet they did not tell us at the front desk. The pillows had stains on them. The sheets felt odd. Still needs renovation.

Very clean straight to the point. I enjoyed my stay!
- 4/5
I only stayed overnight but the room was clean and quiet..i did see some wear on the furniture. I did struggle with the key to open the door but i was offered a different room at checkin if i continued to have issues. I liked that i was only 6 miles from carrowinds. Easy to get to and from property.
- 5/5
Good clean property
- 2/5
Hallways we’re dirty.. Plaster on walls in the bathroom was falling off. Customer service was pretty poor. No hand soap was provided. Basically, I would not recommend it to anyone.
- 1/5
I had a flight delay and needed a room for the night. First room i was semt to had no linen and the mattress was half way off the boxspring. Second room they sent me to again no linen on the bed. She offered to walk me to a third, however I declined. Its clear they dont clean their rooms, not sure what i would have encountered had I actually slept in a bed. This was the last thing I needed at midnight after the airport dilemma I had. I would not recommend Red Lion
- 3/5
Lot of activity going on, from the homeless ppl lingering around the property to the airport drop ins and residential occupants that stay there temporarily. Hotel could use a bit of renovation in the rooms. In my king room the carpet smelled musty and sour like a 70s shag rug. The sink was clogged up. The ac gave off a weird smell. And I ran into a few baby bugs around the fridge and microwave. Traffic in the area is the worse.
- 5/5
It was absolutely wonderful and the bed slept so so well
- 1/5
Terrible staff, terrible service, room smelled like urine and cigarettes. Keys don’t work for the rooms. Security had to let us in and he was armed for war which made us feel super unsafe. Overall worst hotel I’ve ever stepped foot in.

The neighborhood was the first thing but besides that things went well
- 2/5
It looked like there would be amenities but it was nearly impossible to get basic housekeeping, in-room coffee, towels, water at the front desk, etc. The hotel is dank and musty. Beware the loose carpet in the hallways. The employees were overworked and laissez faire. The shuttle drivers were both very nice.
- 2/5
Basic amenities include microwave and mini fridge. The hotel it self needs a lot of upgrades and repairs.
- 1/5
They overbooked and gave away my room

This was quite possibly one of the worst experiences and most disgusting hotels I have ever been to in my entire life. The place was run down. There were cockroaches, crawling across the floor with rooms smell like weed and there was a pair of used dirty women’s underwear outside of our room. When we looked into the room, there was a semen stain on the headboard. There were other areas of the hotel that were in severe disrepair where rugs had not been secured to the floor room numbers have been taped with the wall, and there was many stains of water or something else on the floor. There is a large meeting hall, where an abandoned fountain with dirty, standing water and a homeless person was sleeping inside of. The one person working at the desk seemed unconcerned about all the complaints that we made, and she would not check us in to the hotel even though it was 1 o’clock in the morning and the airport we had been to was closed. There was not a single ounce of concern or worry when we told the front desk person about all these issues.

Very uncomfortable

The hotel has parking lot security guard and my truck was stolen and other cars were broken into. I will never stay here again.,
- 2/5
My hotel key card would not work for my room door. Each time I needed in my room I would have to go to the office and they would give me a new card. I told them it’s not the card the lock battery needs new batteries. They changed it out two days later and it did the same thing. So each time I needed in my room they would have to send security up to my room to let me in. I was not even offered a different room. Even the guy at the desk said he couldn’t believe I wasn’t moved in a new room. On checkout day I asked to speak with the manager and I was told she was in a conference call and I would get a call back. I didn’t hear from her and when I call I get told she is not there. I would like a refund on this horrible stay.

Great experience front desk staff very helpful & friendly. Room was clean as well as the halls, dining area & convention center. Bed was comfortable, shuttle service was timely & he was friendly & courteous.
- 3/5
Staff were very helpful and friendly. But the room could use renovation. Walls in bathroom where peeling.
- 5/5
On checkout I asked to speak with the manager and they said she was on a conference call and they took down my information for her to call me to make this right with me and I never did get a call. I would like my stay refunded for the inconvenience I had to go through. I would not stay at this hotel again.

First, for the price point this place works well for those traveling through Charlotte. We appreciated the 24 hour airport shuttle. The On-Site restaurant was open until midnight which was a nice option to have when you're arriving late. The bed itself was very comfortable. Their property overall could use some upgrades and some renovations. Our room and bathroom were clean, however the toilet seat itself needed to be replaced and some drywall repair needed to be done. Again, for the price point, no complaints.

I did consider myself a frequent quest at this property for work, somewhere between 3 or 4 years. When it was the Clarion, before turning into the Red Lion. I have always booked my room in advance through a 3 rd party each time before arriving to hotel. When I checked in, the young man at the front desk was new. Yet, seemingly compitent at what he was doing. When it came time to swipe my credit card for the useless, pain in the ass for what purpose room deposit of $75. Signed what was needed and took my room keys headed upstairs. As I am on elevator I noticed 0 text on my phone from bank assuming it was the deposit notice.

Very limited parking. Homeless around selling drugs because we saw it happened. The rooms smell. But the beds are very comfortable.

Great hotel, recently renovated. Would highly recommend

Good for 1 night stay

The staff was slow upon checking in due to a huge concert that day. even the front desk workers were saying the key cards could have been preset ahead of time. there was no ac in the lobby, the hallway stunk, the ac in the room was super load, there was no hot water in the bathroom, no free breakfast, and i was told that the shuttle could pick me up from the greyhound bus station, and turns out that was not correct. crackheads, prostitutes and homeless are crawling all around the location.
- 1/5
The room was dirty, bathroom had dirty towels, and we didn’t get the room we paid for. We requested 2 beds and got 1.
- 5/5
I loved the front desk check in clerk Azia maybe, she was awesome. The neighborhood is sketchy with the Gentlemen Club and a sketchy plaza behind the Red Lion.
