    Dirty sticky floors and walls, hair in bed under the sheets and in bathtub upon arrival. Toilet leaked and often did not flush. TV turned on but most channels just showed an error. Had an interaction with the hotel attendant after calling the 800 number to voice a complaint. He stated that they tried knocking on the door the day before but we didn’t answer, however I had only reported the issues a few minutes prior to our interaction. Not a fan of being lied too. All in all I wasn’t expecting the comfort and quality of the Ritz but I was expecting a working toilet, clean floor, sheets and tub. This was my 3rd time in the last 10 years staying at a Red Roof Inn. 2 of the 3 times have been bad. Safe to say it will be another 10 years before I do it again. I also have photos, video, screenshots and audio recordings of all the issues as well as interaction with the one staff member.

    I recently stayed at the Red Roof Conference Center in Chesapeake and had a great experience overall. I accidentally booked the wrong dates and ended up canceling my original reservation so I could rebook for an additional night. Even though they weren’t obligated to, the staff processed my refund, and I received it promptly. Their willingness to help and accommodate the situation was greatly appreciated. The rooms were fairly average, but they were clean, comfortable, and quiet, which made for a pleasant stay. The property also offers 24/7 customer service, which was reassuring and convenient. One of the best parts of the location is its proximity to Virginia Beach—it’s only about a 24-minute drive to the Oceanfront, making it an easy day trip. Overall, I had a positive experience and would stay here again.

    Good water pressure in the shower even on the second floor (better than fancy hotels!). If you get the standard rate, it is no frills (no fridge, microwave, or hairdryer), but it’s clean and convenient for the right price.

    First of all, this is a MOTEL. I could not tell that from the pictures. Second, there were no "live" staff present on the property - you checked in with a man on a screen who was located who-knows-where, and a kiosk spit out your room key. The room had visible dirt on the floor (like chunks of it, seriously) and the countertop had visible gunk on it (maybe old food smears?). I am not a clean freak by any means, but it was gross. The bathroom and tub did appear to be clean. The property itself is very run-down and there was trash all around. There were only two bath towels in the room for a room that could house four people; given the lack of on-site staff, I'm not sure how we would've gotten more towels if there had been four people in our reservation. I will NEVER stay at a Red Roof Inn again, and I do hope that their corporate office reconsiders having live staff on-site.

There was even ashes on the carpet upon arrival. I told the hotel and they assured me that they are 100% SMOKE FRER and said they can come spray air freshener or I can pay $50 extra a night for an upgrade. I don’t want to be in a room that smells like cigarettes and air freshener or pay extra for something they already advertised (100% SMOKE FREE). I won’t be staying there again. If you’re not looking for a smoke shack to sleep in then you shouldn’t either. The place probably had no bugs because of all the people that had smoked in the room and made the bugs leave.

    AC worked. Toilet and sink worked. Clean bed. Windows dirty. Curtain stained. Three holes in the wall. Stain in tub and noisy bathroom fan made it not possible to take a shower. But the worst part- there was no smoke detector. It appears it was removed and not replaced. Had I noticed it earlier yesterday I would have requested a different room. I shouldn't have to pay for this visit.

    The floors and bathroom were not cleaned. Microwave and fridge cost extra. No iron, no coffee or coffeemaker available. Sound on TV kept going out. Only 3 of the 5 lights worked. Check in/out is through a computer so there is no one readily available if you need in person help. Housekeeping is also extra. Stayed for 2 nights and wasn't even offered towels.

    Check IN with virtual assistant was not expected. Would help if the attendant spoke louder and better English. Also, with new system helpful in giving pre and post expectations (ie Check out procedure). A/C fan ran all night even with warmer temp selection. Began to get cold in the early morning had to shut off. West coast person so parking lot noise was very early. alarm from vehicle next to broke down truck made sleeping difficult. I am ADA with balance issues. Tub basin was very slippery getting and I actually slipped and fell turning in shower. Minimal bath towels with no bathmat or hand towels. House keepers were very nice.

    The room was very clean as was the lobby. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The parking lot was a bit rough, especially around the dumpster area and the big pot hole however the property was recently purchased and the owners are in the midst of an overhaul. The first thing by thy did was have the parking lot lighting upgraded and now is very well lit! So far they changed the door entry device, they already put in a new phone system but won’t be hooked up until the phones come in. Room are being remodeled as well. Beds were very comfortable. TV channel options were limited. I’d definitely stay again!

    Check in was via a computer monitor. When I asked if there was anyone onsite, he said there was housekeeping staff, but I did not see anyone. There were cracks in the ceiling of the room and a few bugs. The shower curtain was also stained. There was a homeless person sitting outside in the morning. I did not feel safe there.

    It was a typical red roof Inn. They stay was good, clean room, no odor, and had a nice bed. The only two things I didn’t “love” about this property were the steps going to second floor just were wonky and the shower tub filled with water when I showered so the drain was clogged simple fix just sucked.

    Bathroom was dirty with dog food in the corner, weave hair, the toilet wasn’t working. I had to turn on the shower for it to dispense water in the back of the tank. Housekeeping knocked on my door around 8 AM 9 AM, knowing I was in the shower getting ready to check out on a one-day booking was really ridiculous day very sleepless.

    Tub was rusty, shower curtain was mildewed, I showered with my crocs on the tv screen was dirty, ac air smelled funny. This was a last minute booking for me so I went with what was cheapest. Seems like it’s ran more like an extended stay without the accommodations. Best thing about it was it was a quiet area and friendly receptionists.

    Says non smoking but office and room smelled like someone was covering smoke. Guests outside smoking marijuana and we had to walk thru that. Stains on bed pillows and linens, floor dirty and tub wouldn’t drain so standing in inches of water while showering. Didn’t feel safe here at all.

    I normally stay at the holiday inn but decided to save some money, and that was a bad idea.. although the ladies at the desk were nice and welcoming.. the room was smelly, and had roaches.. you could tell that someone had smoked weed in the room before… I won’t be returning..

    The lady at the front desk was very nice and helped my to a room immediately. My door wasn’t working and she helped me to a new one. Overall the rooms were pretty clean and the air conditioning worked great!

    This was the nicest Red Roof Inn! The Inn is known for not being nice. This one is right next to a lot of hotels for $100 more a night! The staff was nice and friendly. If you need a place to sleep and head for the day then its well worth it.

    The room overall was is decent shape and was clean. It was a little dated but a great value for the price. The only thing I was say negatively is that the tub is REALLY slick and was a fall hazard and there was a gap under the door for creepy crawlers.

    DO NOT STAY HERE. The rooms were inhabitable. First room had a 2x4 hole in the door. The second room was absolutely filthy. Pee all over the bathroom floor and a moldy mattress. Red Roof Inn and Hotels.com would NOT issue a refund even though the rooms were a health hazard. Might as well light $300 on fire rather than stay here.

    The worst part was the mold on the AC vents. It left a terrible odor and probably wasn't too good for our health. Bathroom door was busted and didn't stay shut. Both sides of the doors sheathing were pryed open. Pillow we're flat and sad. Kind of like when you buy the cheapest one at Walmart and keep it for 3 years too long. Bed mattress was even lower quality than the pillow. Did not rest well. Surge pricing put this stay over $100 dollars a night. Sold out with literally no options other than go somewhere else, which I was all too happy to do. Refund policy was subject to 1 night plus fees. Gee thanks I get a refund for the night I didn't stay here in your funky room.

    When I arrived to my room the first thing I noticed is people in the parking lot working on their cars. Homeless people pan handling as soon as you exit your car. And the room was filthy to the point I checked out a day early and I am currently waiting to hear back from Expedia in regards to me receiving a partial refund for the remaining day I was forced to terminate my stay.

    Corporate obviously does not care. No hot water, sink dripped constantly, ac was sort of working. The clientele there was sketchy. Looked like it was a long term living situation. The cops, however, made the rounds in the parking lot frequently!

    First of all, the security was very poor. There was little to no supervision, and entrances were left open without any staff monitoring them. I didn’t feel safe during my entire stay. Secondly, the cleanliness was unacceptable. The room was dirty, the towels were old and smelled bad, and the bathroom was clearly not cleaned properly. What made it worse was that the price was way too high for such a low-quality room and poor service. There were barely any facilities, and everything looked neglected. I do not recommend staying here and will definitely not return.

    We did not even get out of the car. The pictures online are clearly not of this location. There were like 4 cars in the lot and people fighting in the parking lot. We later discovered from our drivers that it’s not a good scene over there. We tried to get a refund, but the property manager would not respond.

    100% smoke free all around the facility however the room smelled terrible of cigarette smoke. Stains on the linens. Towels had hair all over them. I slept in an office chair for the evening.

    Not the best but you get what you pay for. I was originally given a non smoking room but it smelled like someone had just smoked a pack of cigarettes in it. I told the clerk I wanted another room but she said she didn’t have anymore of that type room. She offered to “spray” the room. I said no. She stated that people smoke in their rooms all the time and there’s nothing they can do about it because they block their credit cards so they can’t be charged? I did eventually get another room but the clerk was rude asking if I did anything in the room, ie use bathroom, sit on the bed, etc. She was not happy that she might have to go straighten the room to resale it.

    I was traveling alone, with my dog, to get back to Florida. As a woman of some age, all I wanted was to get off the road, stay in a clean place, feel safe, be treated nicely, and to be on my way south in the AM. This facility gave me all those things. The staff was very courteous and friendly, the dog stayed free---no hassle, the room was clean and neat, the bed was comfortable, the TV provided channels that I like, I had an microwave and a fridge, I felt safe while walking my dog outside and while staying there overnight. In total, I was very happy with my stay.

    Tonight's check-in experience was exceptional. This is our first visit to a red roof inn (although we frequently stay in hotels) and the professionalism and efficiency of the customer service I received during our checking in process was up to par or exceeded what we have encountered elsewhere including upscale hotel properties.

    Staff was friendly, but that was the only good thing about the hotel. The fact that my toilet was broken, my towels had hair from the previous use, and baby roaches in the bathroom were beyond my beliefs. We stayed long enough to sleep to hurry back to the highway

    the room was pretty clean for all the other issues the room had. Issues- The room my husband and I stayed in had a very musty odor, water damage on the wall and behind the bed’s headboard . The light fixtures were old and starting to rust . The toilet was leaking at the base and the floor was wet around it. The sink’s faucet was loose and the sink pipes were covered with yellowing broken pvc pipes. The shower leaked. No counter space in the bathroom. No luggage rack or even a place to put luggage except for the floor or on top of the room’s safe. The fridge had food left in it. The price we paid was less than most hotels around the area but way too high for the condition for our room.

    The employees themselves were amazing and accommodating. We just felt the property was a little outdated and not the most clean. We stayed in the non smoking section. The first room we got was dirty. The bed was a mess and there were towels all over the place so they checked us into a room that hadn’t even been cleaned. The second room was “cleaned” but just smelled a little moldy. Cigarette burns in the sheets, nothing smelled very clean. AC was the best part. If you’re not picky and just need a place to sleep it’s not the worst considering the kind staff but they definitely need updating with all the other nice hotels across the street as options.
