The Carter Lodge On The River

You won’t find a better property in chimney rock. They did a great job with the updates to the grounds and the rooms. The “backyard” is amazing. The only negative to come by is the $50 charge to check in early. $50 for a couple hours? If the room is ready, let the guests in! I know it’s policy and I get it. Lots of hotels try it, just pet peeve of mine when traveling. Again though, just an amazing spot!

The Hotel was great, Very Comfortable King size Bed, Great A.C., Super clean, only 1 thing bad the person above us,second floor was Stomping So Loudly, Could Barely sleep! Very Loud Stomping thought he was going to come through the roof sounded like he was playing basketball

This motel has been TOTALLY remodeled and the family has done an awesome job! The owners are very pleasant and have done most of the work themselves. The view from the back balcony is gorgeous. There's lots of nice seating areas outside too. I would highly recommend staying here . I will definitely return.

This motel is a fine choice for the area. My only quibble is that daily maid service is not provided. This was a big disappointment to my wife and myself.

Close to chimney rock. Great view of river and mountain. Parking out front. Clean rooms. Newly redecorated. Accommodating check in. Close to most shopping. Deli and several restaurants within a mile of the lodge.

Amazing place to stay

Very quaint newly renovated perfect cottage feel!!

Was able to check-in late and check out early easily. Owners made it very smooth. The furnace was extremely loud though. Unfortunately im a very light sleeper so only slept a clp hours.

It was very quiet and beautiful and very clean place to stay. The location was perfect for a walk into everywhere we went.

Everything was wonderful! The room was new and decorated and a modern rustic style. Everything was well thought out with the room design, although not large was very efficient and comfortable. We had an exceptional view from the deck of chimney rock and the river below. We left behind a few items and the manager Linda called twice to make sure we knew and offered to send our items to our home address. The location was fantastic at the end of the restaurant s and shops . It was quiet and peaceful there. We would definitely return whenever we are back in that area. Great job, Linda!

Bathroom frosted windows could still be seen through from outside. Need curtains or shades on bathroom windows.

Loved the Carter Lodge in Chimney Rock, NC. It is clean, quiet, and newly renovated with very friendly staff and a great location. We could see Chimney rock and the river from our balcony. In walking distance to the town which had great restaurants and stores. Only two things I didn’t like and nothing big, need black out curtains on window facing the road due to outside lights and lower shower curtain to keep floor from getting wet. Other than that it was great!! We will definitely go back.

Downside was no microwave or coffee maker. Would stay again.

Beautiful spot! Outdoor area soooo nice! Clean, even though older. My only reason that may not come back is the mattress was just not for us. Very soft.

This was a quick weekend getaway and i couldn't have ask for anymore.Family owned and operated,Mrs.Carter checked me in and let me know she was there if we needed anything during our stay.This is an older hotel,as they all are in the Chimney Rock area,but was immaculate.The views of the river and the mountains from the rear of this property are amazing.We very much enjoyed sitting in the swing late afternoon and early morning just soaking up the peace and quiet.Was only about 4-5 min walk into town for restaurants and everything else the downtown area has to offer.Just cant say enough good things about this place and looking forward to another stay very soon

The property was a little run down and over priced.

Loved the outdoor area overlooking river , access to river and Chimney Rock view. This area contained swings!, tables and even a few games. Relaxing atmosphere

Motel style room on upper floor, basic amenities including fridge but noisy air con unit. Morning coffee and microwave provided on lower floor, none of the vending machines were working at the time of our stay. Our balcony had nice views over the river and great views of Chimney Rock, we paddled and swam in the river which has access from the hotel garden. Rooms on the upper floor have private balconies, sun umbrellas and easy access from the car park. Chimney Rock village was 10 minute walk away with good range of gift shops, cafes etc the Burnt Shirt Vineyard had terrific food and great staff. Rumbling Bald Trail appx 15 mins drive away provided a really good circular walk.

We would stay there again. Comfortable bed and bath. Cold air condition. Short walking distance to Chimney Rock. Would bring chairs next time to sit in the river on a hot day.

This is our favorite place to stay in Chimney Rock. The view is awesome, the staff is friendly and helpful.

Nice location with river and view of chimney rock. Door wouldn’t lock and property is very old and dated. Beds cheap and uncomfortable. Tip envelope for housekeeping is tacky. Is it wrong to expect the room to be clean?

I couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful setting..the creek is literally at the edge of the great outdoor space. There are some minor amenities my issues- toilet ran very loud, the towels are thin and it’s a little dated but honestly there is absolutely no reason not to stay here (just a heads up that it’s a simple motel with weak Wi-Fi but that’s the case in the area in general) but if you want a peaceful stay that’s convenient to everything in the area with a cup of coffee by the creek or great balcony to watch the sun set on the mountain this is your place!!

Good restaurants and stores within walking distance too. Stay here, you will not be disappointed.

The manager Ms. Linda was so kind and attentive. The property is so beautiful and peaceful, with the river running right behind it! I was there to have alone time to deal with death in my family! The tranquil surroundings gave me just what I needed to renew myself. I plan to return often now that I know about this quaint and tranqil place.The view of the mountain outside my room was also amazing! Ms. Linda thank you!

Nice 2 day visit.

Fantastic location right next to the river. Lodge was in need of some touch ups but room was comfy and good bed . Only bad thing was no internet. They give you a Wi-Fi password but service is terrible. Town needs to work together to get fiber installed for entire area.

Great stay. Nothing at all to complain about. Will be back.

This was the cutest, most enjoyable hotel that we have ever stayed in. It should be called a "Boutique" hotel. The room was immaculate and even "smelled clean". The location was incredible and the owners were absolutely delightful. We were able to walk to all of the shops in the village. Beautiful Chimney Rock State Park is just behind (and above) your room. The grounds were adorable, right on the river, with access to the river where we dipped our feet in cold crystal clear water. We have been to "fancier" hotels with all kinds of amenities, but there was everything we needed. The coffee was ready every morning at 6 in the adorable little snack/vending area. They said for us to fill up our cooler with ice anytime, where the "fancy" hotels fuss if you do that. We would definitely stay here again! If you are looking for a place to relax, this is the place to go!

Quick stay in Chimney Rock. Carter Lodge never disappoints. Amazing property, 5 minute walk to town. Our go to place in Chimney Rock.

What I did not like was the "You have to pay for everything you touch" little sign all over the place. Don't do this , don't do that. Made me feel like a thief.

Clean but No coffee, need new door other than a 39 year old door with flimsy door knob,A/C unit entirely too loud , need to replace 1950’s style light fixture with up to date one, shower needs to be updated

This was a great place to stay. Older motel but well taken care of. The river behind it and the swings were everything we needed to just chill. We will be back.

This is a very well kept up, beautiful and convenient motel in Chimney Rock. I’ve stayed before and will stay again.

This was a wonderful Lodge. We loved the river front room and all the extra special touches on the property. Our room was very clean and cozy. We enjoyed our stay at The Carter Lodge and will stay there again the next time we go to NC. Thank you so much to the nice folks that own the Lodge.

Wonderful stay. Very clean. Loved the view of chimney rock park and the river. Very very relaxing and enjoyable.

The outdoor space is beautiful and the rooms are efficient. I would definitely stay again.

The location is literally walking distance to chimney rock and tons of shopping near by. The back of the lodge had the river along the whole backside and a view of Chimney Rock. They had swings for couples to sit and view the river, outdoor checkers, connect four and corn hole. They did not have breakfast but did have coffee. There were several restaurants within walking distance and a fridge in the room so no breakfast wasn't a huge deal. We will return. :)

Exceeded my expectations! A beautiful place with a magnificent view overlooking the river and Chimney Rock.

We enjoyed our 5 day stay very much. We stayed on the back where you could see the creek running overlooking the Chimney Rock state park mountain. It was a quite and simple place to stay. Everything was clean and maintained. It’s located in walking distance to the local shops and restaurants which is a plus.

I do not like the price, room size.

Liked the river behind hotel, great view of a gentle cascading stream.

It was a great place to stay

It was amazingly clean. Super nice people. Joe and Linda are very nice and they care about their property. There were grills to use, cornhole to play, chairs and swings to look over the river. It was a great stay and we will stay there now going forward.

Loved the setting of the room and the location. Only downside was the stairway down to the walkway next to the river. It had no railing and the steps were not very safe. Other than that it is a definite that I will stay here again. The staff were so friendly and so helpful.

Nice quiet little hotel right next to the river with a view of Chimney Rock from our bed. No frills, comfortable room that was close to town with dining and shopping. Good coffee in the morning. Nice owners who had good area info.

Vintage hotel with a great view and location. Clean Rooms and friendly staff/ owners. The bathroom is a bit worn out and the towels are very thin. Bed is comfortable with nice sheets.

Great views and an amazing property. You can walk out to the river right from the lodge. It’s also just a few minute walk into town.

The Carter Lodge is literally at the foot of Chimney Rock and At the edge of The Broad River. We really enjoyed our stay!!

Great location and view of the river and Chimney Rock, nice balcony, the grounds are very nice, and the staff was very nice and helpful! It’s just an older motel which shows in the room. But the whole town is older and charming. I would stay there again!

We enjoyed our stay. However, the bed was NOT comfortable. We requested a queen bed, but were given a full size bed that was not comfortable at all.

Check- in was very quick and easy. The room overlooked the river, and it was a beautiful, peaceful view.
