However, some guests find the amenities lacking, with issues such as weak Wi-Fi, no food options after 5 PM, and old appliances.

- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Limited food options after 5 PM
- Weak Wi-Fi signal

Very quaint room -- actually had 3 rooms with a bed in each. Brings one back to the olden days!

If you’re looking for an extremely quiet tranquil stay, this is the place. Small community, full of very friendly people, and a place to sleep where you don’t hear any noise after 7pm. Lot of history, and interesting place.

Very unique property.

Very bad experience.
- 5/5
Always a pleasure when my travels take me by this place. Very quiet and great management. I have stayed here more than 10 times over the years and never had a bad experience.

Really?!?
- 4/5
Located in a nice area to walk around this historic silver mining town. Park and interesting things to see close bye. Internet is slow and and does not keep up with damand in room 12. I have stayed here before in another room location and experienced the same with Internet

I loved it! Can’t really give five stars on everything because it’s pretty dated and small, but loved the location, town, staff and restaurant! Highly recommended! Great value!
- 5/5
Small and charming. Do not expect luxury, its a very old building (over 100+years). Check in was easy, so quaint they will always use keys. They left a basket of chips and cookies on our bed. Little touches you won't get at a chain. Town rolls up at 6pm so its very peaceful. If you are looking for a place to unplug and get out of Dodge this is the place. WiFi is spotty at best, and only 4 channels, but bring your dvds and make a movie night. They supply a microwave and fridge. There is a restaurant attached to the inn with great food!
- 4/5
The room was clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed historic chloride. We walked around the town met some of the people and enjoyed the sites. Waters were provided and also cookies and chips with a bowl of hard candy. We would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Complimentary chips, fruit snacks and water in the room was a nice touch.
- 4/5
Older motel but clean & staff friendly. Also dog friendly

What a great adventure it was staying here! We arrived really early and drove around the town. Let me tell ya, it was quiet eerie but so cool ay the same time. Definitely a must visit. The stay was very unique. We stayed in Room 10, Jack Nicholson's Room. That was special. Dean, what a gteat guy. Very informative of the town and just had great hospitality. We absolutely had a great stay. I especially loved the set up of the rooms. I definitely recommend this stay.

This was our second stay at Shep's, this time for our 5th wedding anniversary. It's a unique historic lodging in a fascinating tiny town where time slows way down and you can drop out, dry out, or hide out -- maybe all three? We ate breakfast at Yesterday's, walked around to the historic sites (waiting out a hail storm under a tin awning on one of the antique stores) and watched the sunset from up on the hill above the murals painted on rocks. Next time we will time our visit to be in Chloride when things when more things are open and happening.

amazing

It was a fun step back in time. Room was very comfortable. The Owners were very friendly and very accommodating. If you want to do something other than the ordinary, we recommend you give this a try.
- 3/5
It was pretty cold. TV channels sucked! It was cute!
- 4/5
Quaint, historic property with a cool vibe. Restaurant has rather limited hours and not open for breakfast Monday morning when I left. Room is well equipped, but the ceiling fan was broken, and the fridge door wouldn't close, so, didn't try to use either.
- 3/5
My initial room was overpowering perfumed due to Odo-ban having just been used. I was given a different room. I was never able to use internet and there was no cellphone coverage. Other than than that, the room was clean, bed was comfortable, no traffic noise, and an adorable baby goat bleeding was the first sound I heard after sunrise.
- 5/5
Loved this place, exactly what we were looking for as we traveled down Route 66.
- 5/5
Plenty of places to walk my dog. Breakfast was offered, but though I was wanting to eat, I had other priorities.
- 4/5
Very kind staff, the restaurant was closed but they offered us some supper so we did not need to drive to the next town for dinner . Quirky and original place.
- 5/5
We did not know what to expect with this property but were pleasantly surprised. We all slept like babies the beds were so comfortable. The property is old considering it is an old inn from the once mining town but it is very well maintained. The breakfast was very delicious.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Off the beaten path and very peaceful.
- 5/5
Cool quirky western decor
- 5/5
This place is amazing. It is attached to the restaurant which was delicious. The staff was amazing. It is a cute little town but everything shuts down very early.
- 5/5
Every thing was very nice. The food was great the hotel room was amazing
- 5/5
Classic hospitality, 24 hr check-in, arrived from out of town after midnight and someone met us to check-in and escorted us to our room. Great little place with so much to experience. Full service restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a 3 room suite with 2 queens and a twin. Very clean, nice soft towels, beds were comfortable. Provided bottled water, chips, fruit snacks and a dish of candies in the
- 5/5
Out of the way rustic miners hotel. Like going back in time. Very quite. Off the main roads. Great area to walk and hike. Relax
- 5/5
When we got into town, we weren’t sure what we were getting ourselves into but after finally reaching the motel, we enjoyed it. The gentleman was wonderful. It was quiet and just an experience. We both loved clean and comfortable rooms. Just a fun place to stay.
- 5/5
A truly unique place to stay!
- 3/5
Definitely a minor’ town and motel.
- 5/5
It's located in a historical town, we often stacation, sing along with Mr Gene, and the local VFW is close as well, along with town shop for convenience items.
- 5/5
The only challenge is that the only restaurant in town is only open Fr - Sun. There are mixed messages about hours depending on where you look - google, website. I called the phone number and the message said they are open 7 days a week 8-5. But, thats not correct. This place is out in the boonies, which is part of the allure. We drive 17 miles to eat at Oysters mexican seafood in Golden Valley. It was delicious.
- 5/5
Interesting spot
- 1/5
This property should not be recommended. I could see keeping the outside of the property as if it were for miners but inside the rooms should be up to normal standards, not dark, dank and dumpy. I was in shock when the room was shown to me. I said thanks but no thanks. I left the key on the counter and chocked up the money to studio yac
- 5/5
Great owners and very nostalgic old hotel. Dont expect the Hilton, you are staying in an old west town. Had some issues that the owners resolved promptly. close to Grand canyon skywalk area. Again, a very rustic 1800s hotel. Restaurant has really good breakfast. We typically stay there in November , less heat which we like.
- 2/5
First room had no air so they put us in a bigger room. (Suite). Air was okay. Sat on the twin bed and the back leg broke. We killed over a dozen moths and woke up to a dozen more. Shower so small (bad if you’re clastrophobic. Restaurant had good food. Staff and people very friendly!! If you want the real old time experience in a very small town okay to stay.
- 5/5
Lovely rustic place with a historic feel to it!
- 5/5
Muy bonito lugar
- 5/5
Very nice stay.
- 4/5
It is exactly what it says it is, a rustic inn located within an old mining. If you come expecting something else, you’ll be disappointed. We enjoyed our stay very much.
- 5/5
Awesome, rustic experience that was unique and gave the route 66 motel experience. Very friendly people and good food. Did not bother us at all that we had to eat early as the restaurant closes at 5. Breakfast the next morning was great.
- 5/5
The beds were comfy. The locals are what make it amazing!!! This is NOT your chain hotel! This is where you get to learn and meet the locals.
- 5/5
Perfect place to stay if you are doing the AZPT
- 4/5
Very unique property/town with amazing scenery. Staff was awesome at the Inn and restaurant.
- 4/5
This quaint property was very comfortable once the rooms were heated. We enjoyed the restaurant and kindness to upgrade at no cost when our reserved room was not to our liking.
- 5/5
Terrific people at check in, all food options in town were closed by the time we checked in, but they had meals ready to be heated in our room. Great service!
- 4/5
Only downside was the wifi wouldn't connect on the 2nd day even though it showed a strong signal. We would definitely stay there again.
- 2/5
No hair dryer. Smelled like smoke and other things. Shag Carpet looked bad. Too rustic for me.
- 4/5
Don’t expect a 3 star place but as I said it was very clean.
- 5/5
Best Stacation Venue!! Staff greatest in customer service, menu fantastic options, hotel very tastefully done, preserving history of this mining town, will continue staying and enjoying restaurant, great bar options too!!!!!
- 4/5
The word I think all can agree is this little place is rustic.
- 5/5
Quirky little mining town that was a lot of fun to visit and spend the night.
- 3/5
It was quaint and cute. The property is old and the shower could use a update. Lots of thick paint around the opening and it was covered in dust. But we are in AZ and it is dusty here. The real issue was that the hot water handle in the shower just spun around and around and did not turn on the shower so no shower in the hot and dusty day. There was no one at the office and if there was a phone number to call I did not see it. At 8am the restaurant opened and I went in there and let them know it was broken. Was told that I should have let some one know about the shower and they would fix it right away if I wanted to take a shower but at 8 am we were up and dressed and ready to hit the road.
- 5/5
Authentic 1860 silver mining facility. Very unique.
- 4/5
The history and the staff - personal and friendly. The restaurant with that wonderful mural - and the staff!
- 4/5
The 9.9 rating is some sort of mistake. The facility is very old with many things that could use a lot of improvement. There is no food in the vicinity for 22 miles after 5PM. The little historical village looks to have some interesting things to see. However, the room was clean, reasonably comfortable and quiet. The staff seems nice and are doing the best they can with the facility they have. I’d give the place a 7.0.
- 5/5
Historical and authentic! Friendly staff and good food!
- 5/5
Loved it!!! Will definitely stay again when in the area.
- 5/5
Staff was great. Accommodations were great. Historic atmosphere. Relaxing
- 5/5
Their restaurant is the only option in town and they closed at 5pm. We had to go down to Kingman for dinner. (It turn out to be a good thing). WiFi signal was very weak in the room.
- 5/5
I forgot something in my room, and the staff went above and beyond to help me retrieve it! Over exceeded my expectations! The staff was awesome!
- 5/5
We had a large group of Side by Sides (riding the AZ Peace Trail) and we reserved 9 rooms. They were AMAZING! They kept the restaurant open late for our big group and even brought in some one to do Karaoke for us (which we LOVED). It was clean and just what we needed. The next day we got a private tour of the museum across the street. Far exceeded our expectations. We will be back next year when we ride the Peace Trail again!
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
The facility is historic. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were friendly. For us this quaint little hotel was a very good experience. We will definitely be back.
- 1/5
Our accomodation a 2 room suite was heated by 2 free standing air con units, one only blew cold air, the other one did blow warm air untill 9.00pm then failed totally, so an early bed was our preffered option, but no extra bedding was available to compensate for a freezing night. The following morning the rooms were so cold it was felt prudent not to have a shower. Breakfast was good, but the staff were unable to fix the heaters, fortunately we were leaving.
- 4/5
Most unique location ...we were visiting a relative who recommended it. Facilities are old but functional. Spider in shower a little problem. But comfortable place - eclectic ... After all, it is located in a "ghost" town.
- 5/5
Great experience.
- 5/5
This is one of the Gems of the West. I got in a little late but the proprietors took care of me. The gave me a small basket of goodies and it was a a super easy check-in. The room was small but really comfortable. Modern bathroom. I loved the room! I totally recommend Shep's Miners Inn. The town is full of history and the murals up in the mountains are fun. Do not try to go up in a passenger car. High clearance or 4WD is needed. The town just had some flash floods but the town is worth a visit.
- 5/5
Room was very clean and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was really great. And the staff makes you feel like family. Will definitely stay there again. What a great little hidden gem.
- 4/5
We had a good stay here, cute little town too!
- 5/5
Super clean and cute inn! The staff were very friendly and nice. The town is beautiful and peaceful. It was a perfect weekend and we look forward to a return trip.
- 5/5
Comfortable beds. Not 5star but that’s ok we didn’t expect that. Lovely little motel and town. We had a great time! Slept very well and enjoyed the hotel and restaurant!
- 2/5
Hate to say this but very trailer trashy.
- 5/5
An old historic inn but updated to include everything one needs. The staff is friendly and treats everyone like their family. Look forward to returning there.🤗🤗
- 5/5
Awesome place. This is my go-to place when I travel through the area.
- 4/5
It took me back to the old days!
- 5/5
Quaint location. Historic buildings, antiques everywhere. Accommodated a very late check-in. Wonderful breakfast. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
I like this place so much I selfishly don not want others to know about it!
- 5/5
I would tell new guests the resturant closes at 5 PM. But the place was cute and quiet. Staff was friendly.
- 4/5
If you are looking for kind people, good food and history, this is your place. It is a throw back in time. Sit on the porch and watch kids play, a game of horseshoes or a family of deer. A great adventure! It is very clean. It was built in the 1800s. Beds are comfy. Good shower. Great people.
- 1/5
The hotel is old, not kept up and has strong smell.
- 5/5
Not a fancy hotel, comfortable and unique Restaurant serves really good breakfast
- 5/5
This place has a wonderful rustic, and historic history. The owner and staff are very proud and enthusiastic to share stories and history of the restaurant, hotel, and town with everyone coming through. Love this place. Love this town. Highly recommend staying here!
- 4/5
It was very nice in an old sort of way. It was definitely a ghost town but it was clean and comfy beds.
- 5/5
The entire property from the restaurant to the hotel is unique. It is like stepping back in time. Definitely does not look modern but has been updated for the current time. Many antiques abound all over the property. Our dinner on arrival was one of the best we;ve had on that trip. Only drawback on the restaurant is how early it closes (5pm). The room was clean. A basket of welcome goodies along with bottles of water awaited us upon arrival to the room. The beds were comfortable and had enough pillows for everyone. Definitely would return and stay again. Wonderful experience.
- 5/5
This little gem is where you go to get away from the daily grind. Hands down, the staff and other guests are the friendliest people you will ever meet. The hotel has a lot of history and the old cowboys that sing in the saloon will take you back to much simpler time. I highly recommend a stay here.
- 5/5
The service was absolutely accomodating and friendly. We felt right at home.
- 5/5
One of the best little hotels we have found. The old west style accommodations were great. Staff was super friendly and were quick when we needed anything, especially David!
- 5/5
The staff was friendly--as were the locals that frequented the only restaurant in town! The food was home-cooked and fresh; the breakfast "flapjacks" were huge, and delicious and the menu was surprisingly diverse...we certainly left satisfied. For the age of Shep"s Inn, it was great--full of ambiance, and room conveniences such as refrigerator, TV, and internet. We were there during a horrendous Heat Advisory, so the air conditioners had to work overtime, but were adequate (the constant noise of the air conditioners all night made sleep hard, but worked well enough). The room we were in was on the outside and got full sun all day, which made the heat worse--also, there was a sewage smell from the sink that was unbearable at times, probably due to the heat. I would stay there again, but certainly not in that same room (12).
- 5/5
I was a late arrival on a hot day and was greeted by a friendly host who walked me to my room after handing me a basket of snacks and offering cold water. It was a 3 bedroom suite for just me and cooled to perfection with ac units and ceiling fans. Cleanest place I have ever stayed, not a speck of dust anywhere! The bed was very comfortable and the pillow was fluffy but good for us side sleepers. Usually I have to bring in my own pillow but they have thought of everything. Fridge and microwave with lots of free bottled water. With thick plastered adobe or stone walls, it was incredibly quiet, I couldn't hear anyone. The rooms have an outside entrance off a charming porch where one can sit and enjoy the night air. Parking is free and nearby. It is worth the short drive off the main Highway to stay in this old mining town. The star show was amazing, unhindered by city lights. Quaint vintage furnishings that suit the setting complete the charm. I will make this wonderful hotel one of my favorites, staying when I have more time to explore the area. I felt very safe and pampered.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff and willing to accommodate your needs. The rooms were old but comfortable. Service in the restaurant for breakfast was extremely slow and could be improved.
