Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with some guests expressing satisfaction with the cleanliness, comfort, and friendly staff, while others report issues with the air conditioning, breakfast, and cleanliness. Some guests also mention problems with the rooms, such as dirty sheets, used toilet paper, and mold in the shower.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Issues with air conditioning
- Poor breakfast options
- 5/5
Air conditioning was frigid! Staff was professional and pleasant. Skipped the breakfast.
- 4/5
The reception representative was very nice. However, the hotel is being renovated so there were boxes all in the front entrance area and all along the hallway on the floor the room was on. Good signage everywhere to notify guests. Room was clean. I arrived late and it was very quiet so easy to get to sleep- no work being done that would wake one up.
- 1/5
The hotel is undergoing a renovation which we did not know about. There was dumpsters and containers all over the front entrance, boxes, carpet, flooring stacked in the dining room and lobby, Sheetrock debris all over the elevator and piles of old lamps and doors in the hall. The pool was closed. The exercise equipment was so old and making noises it shouldn’t. The beds are incredibly firm. This was by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
- 2/5
There was extensive renovations and construction mess throughout the hallways and common areas that we were never told about prior to our arrival. Additionally, no water for several hours each day. This clearly should have been addressed before we arrived from across the country with no time to consider a different lodging choice! This was a very unhealthy environment for my husband who has asthma, and very unsafe for us as seniors to be tripping over construction materials. Would not recommend due to lack of communication from this property to let people know what to expect ahead of time! We had this trip booked for months and would have enjoyed staying somewhere clean, comfortable and enjoyable. We feel we should be compensated for this inconvenience!
- 1/5
Bath towels had holes. House keeping was poor
- 2/5
Hotel was under major construction which we were not made aware of... the only reason we stayed was it was beyond our window to cancel.
- 4/5
The room was very nice and large. The hotel is under major renovation and I think they should have disclosed that before I made the reservation. That being said, I had to check out early and they were very helpful working with Expedia to make that easy.
- 4/5
The room was clean but tired. Then are in the midst of reconstruction so I am sure that when I go next year all the rooms will be finished.
- 1/5
Woke up the next morning with two bugs in the bed. The linen for the sleeper sofa was dirty as well as the pillow. I will never stay there again.
- 2/5
Checked in and saw that the hotel was under construction, did not have running water for the first 3 hours. Hotel room carpet was filthy, granddaughters white socks were black within minutes… bugs (likely roaches) in the bathroom every night, some towels with stains. Disappointed in stay. One positive: room was always picked up upon return
- 5/5
Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Plenty of shopping nearby. Peaceful stay.
- 5/5
Clean and no frills hotel close to Clayton. Dunkin and a Mexican restaurant within walking distance.
- 5/5
All is well.
- 3/5
The free breakfast was not very good.
- 4/5
The room was very clean and spacious. There was not a lot of options for the breakfast at all.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Odd things: The TV didnt face the bed or the couch and the windows only had light filtering sheers, but no blackout or privacy curtain over it. Room was on 2nd floor, so no real issue with peeping in and there was no sun during my visit. So these items were not a big deal.
- 3/5
The employees was the kind but the hotel need renovation and my room smell real bad.
- 4/5
Location
- 4/5
The staff was respectable and intuitive Definitely would stop by again!
- 5/5
Stacy at the front desk was so welcoming and easy to talk too. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was hot, fresh, and good. Mom and I enjoyed our staycation and it was a great location/ close to family for our Thanksgiving break.
- 5/5
Visited some family that live in NC and stayed here after traveling from FL. Arrived super late past check in and the staff was so accomodating and helped my family and i get some rest after the drive. Rooms are nice, the breakfast was great, and the staff was so kind and helpful.
- 3/5
The room was o, but I but the toilet is not bolted to the floor. The shampoo and conditioner was empty in the tub. We needed a shower chair or something for my husband to shower which is why we asked for accessible room. The gentleman had one but it was not secure so it would create a liability. Staff was courteous, breakfast good..
- 2/5
The room was notably old, the shower had cracks in the calk. The elevator smelt like weed. The beds were too small. The towels had holes in them, no body wash or soap to wash your body in the shower. The vents in the restroom had dust hanging out of them. The bathroom door didn’t lock, the remote for the tv didn’t work. Over all it was a really bad room for the money.
- 2/5
Unclean with limited breakfast
- 5/5
Staff was wonderful, room was clean, housekeeping was helpful and the bed was SO COMFY
- 1/5
The breakfast was uneventful. The coffee was awful. And I really don’t eat breakfast. Just looking forward to a cup of coffee in the morning.
- 3/5
Room was clean, staff was friendly, but it wreaked of marijuana and shady people and the breakfast was meh, powdered eggs and under cooked sausage links.
- 3/5
not impressed
- 5/5
Room was clean and workers were very nice
- 2/5

- 4/5
Clean room
- 3/5
It was okay, it smelled like smoke and pets. Nothing too bad or too good.
- 5/5
Curtains. We arrived late , sun did not. Woke us up at 6. The construction crew could view us changing easily. Changed in the bathroom. The breakfast was madness. I just left. I will return, left 5 stars for the nice room . Very kind check in !
- 5/5
The staff are friendly and helpful. Nice place, convenient location to everything.
- 5/5
Good breakfast not busy or crowded, big room
- 5/5
The best staff!
- 5/5
Breakfast was ok. Sausage not quite done. I enjoyed the tub. Check in was slow.
- 2/5
The property overall is old an outdated. It has an old carpet smell. Batroom covered in hair. The bedding is stained and dirty. The courtains are dirty. Air conditioner smells bad. The breakfast was the only reason for which I gave it 2 stars.
- 2/5
Stacy was sweet and accommodating. The housekeepers never changed our sheets, nor did they give us clean towels unless we asked for them and they didn’t take out our trash.
- 5/5
Very comfortable and pleasant stay!
- 4/5
Staff was great
- 5/5
Great Staff, very accomdating and Comfy bed!
- 4/5
Some of the towels were worn out and had yellow stains on it. The tissue box in room was empty, had to go down to the front desk to get a box. There were no hand sanitizer in any of the dispensers in the lobby/ hallways, they simply said they ran out.
- 5/5
Staff was pleasant and friendly, the hotel was in good condition mostly, it’s an old property but satisfactory
- 5/5
The property was nice and clean. The staff was friendly.
- 4/5
Staff was very helpful
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Check-in with Stacy was perfect! She was friendly, pleasant and efficient. The lobby area is updated and clean and the freshly baked cookies were delicious. Our room was updated, clean and spacious. The bathroom is clean, albeit a bit dated. Waiting to see how our complimentary breakfast fares tomorrow!
- 4/5
The location is very convenient for those who want to do some shopping. The rooms were spacious and check in was super easy.
- 2/5
Cops across the street - cops at the entrance. Pool was closed. Kids were very disappointed. Room smelled like mildew
- 5/5
Everything went well.
- 3/5
Beds were very comfy! Air conditioner was very loud.
- 3/5
The Desk clerk, Stacy was exceptional. She was helpful, kind, and accommodating. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was subpar. The waffle machine did not cook the waffles entirely and stuck horribly. The orange juice was sour. I am not a coffee snob and I don’t even go to Starbucks, but the coffee was horrid(undrinkable). There were 13 of us there for a funeral and half of us could not consistently get on Wi-Fi. We would stay there again because the location was very convenient to a friend’s house.
- 2/5
Hotel is dated and did not feel clean. We arrived to a room that was muggy and warm; the air conditioner did nothing to dehumidify or cool the room. Kudos to the maintenance guy who replaced the air conditioner quickly the next day. However, this location was still not comfortable, and we left early. Would not recommend. Oh, and the breakfast buffet was bland.
- 3/5
Very helpful and friendly staff. The hallway and room smelled funny. Kind of damp smelling. The USB ports on the wall were all broken.
- 5/5
Everything was nice !
- 5/5
I have always had an excellent experience when staying at comfort suite hotels!
- 1/5
Was given a room that was not cleaned and had to move rooms
- 4/5
The room was large and very comfortable except for the overwhelming smell of cleaning solution
- 1/5
Other family members were put into rooms that were filthy and had to receive second room placements. Again for them, the second room was better than the first but still not great. The service from the front desk was excellent. She was very responsive. If you NEED to stay at a hotel in Clayton, you will be okay. But you won't likely enjoy your room.
- 3/5
Hotel store freezer needs to be cleaned and everything in it needs to be thrown away.
- 4/5
Breakfast good. Pool nice. Room nice.
- 4/5
Breakfast could have been better
- 4/5
The red headed check in manager was seeet, attentive, nice, welcoming and hard working. She was the highlight. We appreciated her homemade cookies and warm greetings every day. She is a great employee!
- 3/5
This property sorely needs a refresh. The couch in the suite was quite dirty, grout in the bathroom needs to be cleaned. Curtains were broken, bed was fine, but I probably would not stay there again. The employees were very nice and very helpful.
- 1/5
Room smelled like mold or mildew. Ceiling appeared to have water damage. Sign on bathroom mirror indicated room service provided upon guest-request. Room service came in uninvited. Staff at front desk seemed ignorant of early check-out policies. Could not/did not print accurate receipt. Expected a refund but not yet provided. Will NEVER stay here again!
- 2/5
The hotel staff was friendly but the overall hotel was just dirty bed bugs is a major issue at this hotel I will not be staying here no more I give it a 2 out of 10 I don’t recommend anyone to stay there the price a night is to much for what you get.
- 2/5
The sheets for the fold out couch were dirty. The mattress for the fold out couch was so disgusting that my son chose to sleep on the floor.
- 5/5
never any complaints about staying here! always such a quick check in process!
- 3/5
The first room they put us in the sheets was dirty and bed not made properly. They moved us to another room per my request. The room smelled of mold. The front desk lady was very lazy and not helpful. We needed a toilet plunger and she said we needed to wait until 9am for house keeping to arrive. This was 7am. I went to Walmart to by a plunger so we could use the restroom.
- 5/5
Amazing place, they cleaned the room daily which was unexpected. Stacy (not sure of spelling) at front desk was delightful. There are lemon water and cookies each afternoon in the lobby. The coffee was tasty. I did not eat breakfast but people did seem to be enjoying it. I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Staff very considerate!
- 4/5
It was good. Bed was nice and comfortable. Room was overall clean.
- 5/5
The room was spacious and comfortable, staff were friendly. However there was an issue with a change request that resulted in me not receiving a refund of an unused/cancelled night.
- 5/5
Construction in the rear off the building. Wind driven dirt and dust blowing. Can't be helped until it's over. Whatever they are building is going to obstruct the view in the rear of the facility.
- 5/5
It was very clean
- 3/5
Hotel a bit old and outdated could stand to be uodated
- 5/5
This was perfect for the weekend stay staff was accommodating and friendly
- 2/5
The card scanners didn’t work and you had to scan your card multiple times at all scanners. The water pressure was low. The headboard for the bed and the left headboard lamp were hung crooked. Housekeeping came in when they weren’t supposed to. No syrup!
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean. The hotel was older and in a somewhat congested area.
- 3/5
Good hotel, very convienant, quiet, a little old, needs some updates.
- 5/5
no
- 2.5/5
Even though check out is at 11:00 at 9:30 I heard a knock on the door I said someone was in here and then a gentleman walked right in the room I was very upset because I do not sleep with clothes on and check out is not until 11:00
- 1/5
###DONT BOOK HERE I booked a room so could go swimming, upon check in I found out the pool was closed for repairs. I told desk staff the pool was the reason I booked. I asked for room to be canceled and they refused. I never checked in, accepted a key I ended up booking at the Fairfield so I could swim. The Comfort Suites is refusing to refund my $160 Expedia said nothing they can do WOW $160 for a room I was never in and a pool I never got to swim in. Shame on you Comfort Suites

AAA all the way
- 5/5
My stay was nice.
- 4/5
Stay in this area looking for property!
- 1/5
Old shabby bed linens, poor workmanship in bathroom. Staff lingering in breakfast room with dirty tables not being cleaned off.
- 5/5
It was clean
- 4/5
Safe. Quiet. Convenient.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel to say .
- 4/5
The good items the bed was very comfortable and bathroom were great! The location was great!
- 5/5
Front desk check and get services was extremely pleasant. When I got to the room it was nice clean, including the bathroom. Breakfast is next morning was good, might have been nice to have the option to add cheese to my eggs and syrup for waffles was almost totally out.Only had one bottle for everyone to share.
- 5/5
Quiet, Clean, and nice
- 5/5
Easy check in. Room was nice. Breakfast was good. My only complaint was the A/C unit was very loud.
- 1/5
Never again
- 5/5
Property is nice but there wasn’t a lot to do around the property. Not a lot of choices for eating at restaurants
- 4/5
My second morning, housekeeping knocked at 9am and I said I wasn’t ready yet. They never returned to clean the room that day. My key card kept malfunctioning on the room door but not the outside entrance doors. The breakfast area needs more seatin there seemed to be a wedding in the hotel. No seating, I checked at 3 different times.
- 5/5
Affordable. Quiet. Close to many food options.
- 5/5
Great check in
- 4.5/5
Furniture in room needs updating. Linens need to be replaced throughout the room. Shower curtains towels and bedding.
- 3/5
Just your basic hotel. No frills. the morning staff were very friendly.
- 4/5
Housekeeping did a great job changing out our towels and keeping our room clean.
- 5/5
Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Front desk staff very pleasant. Definitely will be staying there again when in town.
- 3/5
Night shift front staff had terrible attitudes, acted as if they hated to assist visitors. Limited breakfast items, ran out of coffee. Hotel was clean.
- 5/5
Clean and quietly area
- 4/5
We had to ask for a new key card many times. Towels need to be replaced. Everyone that worked there was very nice.
- 4/5
I tried calling around 2pm several times but nobody answered. I wanted to see if we could check in 30 mins early. The front desk person said we never let people before 3pm. Nobody in the lobby. 1or 2 cars in the parking lot. Never had that happen before. Came back at 30 mins later, the front desk person was leaving and the incoming person was checking people. Terrible customer service by the first one.
- 3/5
There was a mix up, causing me to enter a room that was already occupied. It took some time for the desk clerk to rectify the situation, but she did. It eventually was corrected, and all went well after the initial check in procedure.
- 1/5
Dirty sheets with crumbs in it
- 5/5
I was treated great as a guest
- 5/5
I had great time even though it was cold
- 4/5
We had a smooth check in, hotel and room is clean and quiet. Meet a standard expectation.
- 5/5
Very clean and very convenient right in the middle of Clayton.
- 5/5
Nice clean rooms
- 5/5
Would definitely recommend and return to this hotel.
- 3/5
The person that checked us in was very friendly. The breakfast was less than desirable. The tea selection was only Earl Grey and there was no decaffeinated coffee.
- 5/5
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
- 3/5
It was okay. The room had a musty smell when I first walked in. The bathroom had little curly hairs on the tub walls and I got a splinter in my finger from the desk that's located under the TV. Besides that, everything else was fine. I stayed one night so it was a quick stay.
- 2/5
Would not recommend.
- 2/5
Initially, checking in staff was pleasant and very professional. However, the hotel had an older, a stale kind of oder by my arrival. The hand sanitizer station at the elevated doors were gross. They have not been clean. Didn’t try to see if there was any sanitizer in it because it just didn’t look like it was sanitized itself. Once I entered my room. I immediately saw white stains clearly on the couch. The room have been clean, but apparently no one saw the stains therefore did not clean them. The sofa did not look like it was clean enough to even sit on. I did however take my own cleaning materials and clean the stain off the sofa just because I did not want to look at it during my entire stay I was in town for a funeral so I was already stressed and did not need any additional stressors. The walls in the room were all scuffed up and dirty everywhere I looked it is was like a child just walked up and down the walls. It was scuffed up and dirty as were some of the walls in the hallway the nightstand lamps, one on each side for each double bed did not work at all so lighting in the room was challenging once again. I had no time to be dealing with the hotel about all of these inconveniences so I did not bother at the time. I just made it work for me and my family. I did not participate in the complementary breakfast as the hotel’s order did not make it appetizing and considering all of the things that were going on in my room I just had no desire to eat anything . Do not recom
- 3/5
Not happy with the continental breakfast
- 4/5
I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the shower/tub. It was fairly clean, but there was no shine due to build up of usage. Neither did the tub feel clean. Like it was wipwd down every visit, but never actually cleaned with a cleanser.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, the bathroom very clean, and the main one the bed smelled clean.
- 3/5
We initially got checked into a room that hadn’t been made up. Our actual room had a terrible draft under the air conditioning unit. There was peeling paint and stucco on the ceiling, a broken toilet paper roll holder and bizarre artwork hung at the ceiling level. The beds were small and uncomfortable.
- 4/5
It was fine, clean, comfortable.
- 1/5
Desk clerk scrolling on her phone without even looking up to greet us. When asked about the price of water, we were told $3 and then realized the price listed on the case was $2. Place was not clean, small coffee cups, no cartons of milk. Just very cheap, dirty and employees seemed like they would rather be anyplace else than there.
- 5/5
Everything was really nice I really needed a 2 day weekend to get away from things and that bed was comfortable and the shower was amazing and we slept so good i appreciate you for allowing us to use your hotel
- 1/5
Terrible beds. Fake curtains that don’t close so street lights keep you awake all night. Horrible experience.
- 5/5
Slept like a baby
- 3/5
Hotel was clean. Staff was courteous. There were many options for shopping and dining nearby.
- 1/5
Would not recommend very inconsiderate management
- 2/5
The desk clerk that was there at check-in was awesome and seemed to take it all in stride. Surprised the manager wasn’t more aware that this issue was ongoing. He did go upstairs to find out who was in “our” room since it wasn’t in the system that anybody else was to be there and they were sold out for the night.
- 5/5
Love
- 3/5
Also the door key needed to be reactived 3 times on the three day visit. When asked to activate during the evening shift, the worker had a bit of an attitude as if I was inconveniencing her to correct the problem. Overall the hotel did serve its purpose, but if these two items were addressed correctly, I would have rated the stay on a higher scale.
- 4/5
We had a nice stay here.

- 5/5
Great ! Clean nice big rooms nice bed with many pillows !! Felt very safe
- 3/5
The staff was very nice and friendly, except for one person. The bed and room were very comfortable. The breakfast room needs a serious upgrade.
- 5/5
We loved staying with ya’ll
- 3/5
Overall it was an okay Hotel. I did notice a couple days into my stay However that my comforter on the bed had a bunch of holes worn in it that they had flipped over so you couldn't see it and the edges were fraying. There was also an odd smell in the room like it used to be a smoking room and they never repainted or clean the carpet so that they could get the smell out. There were several other small things that were an attention to detail cleanliness issue not on housekeeping side but on maintenance side. The employees were really great however and I never had an issue with any of them. The owners need to seriously consider renovation and I need to let their employees know that it's okay to buy a new comforter if one is totally ruined. As I am sure it's management instructing them to be cheap.
- 2/5
Room okay but poor sleep Breakfast average at best.
- 4/5
It was a very spacious suite. The staff were kind and accommodating.
