Reviews
The hotel is praised for its beautiful location and historic charm, but there are frequent complaints about construction noise, high prices, and poor service. Some guests also mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance in the rooms.

Wonderful resort full of thoughtful amenities in a beautiful setting.

Service in general at the hotel was very slow and unattentive, including at the restaurant and at check-in and check-out. Signage was poor, so it was hard to find any amenities or restaurants or even the breakfast. The Victorian King room seemed overpriecd and had only windows in the sitting area, looking over the passenger loading area (without any view of the ocean), and had no windows in the bedroom area or bathroom. It also had a bad step between the sitting area and the bedroom area which made me trip. We then put "warning pillows" there as the carpeting made the step blend in. The posted firepit event was not available to us when we showed up as we were told at the firepit that we hadn't made a reservation, which we didn't realize we had to make as hotelguests, as no one had brought it up at check-in. Parking, unloading, and dealing with the luggage were all extremely complicated and time-consuming. I don't think we will be back.
- 5/5
What a wonderful property! Well kept, plenty to do,
- 4/5
NO MENTION OF THIS FROM THE HOTE (EITHER IN ADVANCE NOR AT THE CHECK IN), DESPITE THIS APPARENTLY BEING A FREQUENT PROBLEM. NO OFFER TO COMPENSATE FOR THE extraordinarily room rates, either. VISITORS: BEWARE!!!! PAYING NEARLY $1,000 PER ROOM PER NIGHT WITHOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF THE BEACH!!
- 3/5
Hotel and staff was great.. I did not like that they did not disclose the fact that the water Beachside was closed due to sewage bacteria leaking into the ocean. This was a big part of why we came and was not able to swim in the ocean. I understood completely the reason they would close it down, but it should have been disclosed in their advertising.
- 5/5
Top notch accommodations, beautiful property that lives up to the hype. Staff was gracious and helpful at every turn, and each experience provided considerable value for each premium memory. Will be back for years to come!
- 1/5
Package we purchased: Cabana with Beach Club was totally misrepresented. From Check-In throughout our stay, staff were very nice however untrained on the amenities included in our package. Wrong description of room ( not on the sand, no view, public walkway in front of the room. Ocean water toxic, can’t swim or touch water, sand as well. Serious consequences if used. Never told this was the case by the Hotel! Room only cleaned once in 4 days, when we called! Parking permit never issued. Manager requested to discuss this horrible situation, She never Responded. Don’t waste your money on this resort.
- 2/5
Unfortunately, we were roomed with the loading dock as our view. The dock activity was constant and noisy disrupting our entire stay. The ocean activity was non-existent as the water was unsafe for entry. The jacuzzi/hot tub was so busy and not hot. Too many strikes for me to recommend or return.
- 5/5
It was beautiful and loved our room with the personal patio and fire pit.
- 5/5
Liked everything!!
- 5/5
A beautiful enormous well run resort, the staff are polite, friendly & helpful. Although I had originally requested a room with a view, somehow things got mixed up. The room I did get was large, comfortable and clean. A beautiful ocean location spot that offers everything anyone could need.
- 5/5
Incredible. Lovely. Wonderful. It’s a bit pricey.
- 5/5
Top tier stay. I requested an upgrade (for a fee) to our room upon arrival and was given an ocean view balcony. The property is gorgeous and has great amenities. Will definitely be back!
- 2/5
front desk people are a holes. the air condition rule set up disciplines the guests even after paying $1200 for a ocean front room. you cant have the windows open and the air on at the same time. ouch

Loved the hotel and location right on the beach and walking distance to so much. Parking not being included was the only down fall.
- 5/5
Great stay! Highly recommend getting the Ocean Beach Club access.
- 5/5
For three consecutive days, the pillowcase was not changed, even though there was a blood stain on it from the very first day of my stay. In addition, the housekeeping staff did not replace the towels; they simply folded the used towels and put them back in place. Considering the high amount of money charged for this hotel, the level of service provided was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. Unfortunately, the service was a complete disaster and did not meet even the most basic standards of hospitality.

I’d come again. From luxury perspective, the staff should do much better to acccomodate to requests and not just simply “sorry such and such is unavailable”…… if we want to keep it a 5 star hotel it would be nice if staff kicks it up a notch and go out of their way to accommodate simple requests such as forks and knives for a guest even though kitchen is closed
- 5/5
Everything is Excellent except for a non-stop child or baby crying next to our room
- 5/5
Beautiful- a must stay property!
- 4/5
Lovely property. Restaurants were not that good however there are excellent places within walking distance.
- 5/5
Stunning property! From the moment we went up the driveway to the front of the hotel until our checkout, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at the historic Del. Showstopping beach views, incredible cuisine, and excellent hospitality from every employee definitely has me looking forward to returning in the future. Highly recommend! Five stars *****

So beautiful! The Victorian room with terrace was beautiful. So much history, great shops, beautiful white sand beach. Loved the sushi restaurant, grounds and bar open to fresh air and views.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 4/5
Had issues with the cleanliness of the room when we arrived but management was quick to resolve the issue.
- 5/5
Driving distances to nearby beaches and sites was easy. Walking to nearby shopping, great!
- 5/5
Beautiful resort with a lot of dinning options and beautiful views!
- 4/5
it is a beautiful hotel but it is essentially a conference hotel now that’s great if u are on conference but it doesn’t cater to the individual traveler valet parking was excellent location is superb
- 4/5
First time staying at the hotel. It’s definitely a beautiful property with direct access to the beach. It’s unfortunate that the ocean water isn’t safe for swimming/ dipping your feet due to contamination but it’s lovely for strolling and taking in the scenery. The room itself is lovely and the hallways are quiet. However, our room is situated directly in front of the loading area where staff constantly unload trucks and vans during all hours of the night. At 1:00 am I could clearly hear the backlot staff talking over the sounds of the truck engines, overhead doors slamming, the beeping of vans backing into the ramp, and the banging of palettes moving across the lot in preparation for the large private events taking place during our stay. Nevertheless, the dinner and drinks we had at the seafood bar next to the pool were excellent, as were the two gentlemen who took care of us. Further, my mom had a great experience at the salon with hair stylist Lily. Overall, a stunning hotel with a rich history, excellent location, and professional staff.
- 5/5
Expensive parking
- 5/5
This isn’t just a place to stay- it’s a whole experience. There is so much history and architecture to explore as well as amenities for every occasion. We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic getaway here and could not have asked for more.
- 5/5
Everything nothing the whole experience was great
- 1/5
Broken door, broken sink, blood stain on the side of the bed and no body wash. Management thought $150 was acceptable and claimed to not have a room to move us to unless we accepted a base room when we paid for a higher end room with patio and fire pit.
- 3/5
Corporate. High prices ($30 for a drink). Techno music at pool. Soulless.
- 3/5
Beach view was unobstructed except for all the signs saying do not enter water due to elevated fecal contamination
- 4.5/5
Location - facilities - view from balcony - allowed us a late check out Could have had a better coffee machine in room Excessive smell of bleach Valet parking - long wait for vehicle collection due to Mother’s Day event - would of been easier to self park to make exit easier and quicker
- 4.5/5
The hotel is a unique piece of San Diego history. The only downside was that our room was quite close to a giant aircon / blower unit outside. It didn’t bother us but if you are a light sleeper it might. It would be nice if the guided history tour of the property were slightly more affordable for guests staying in the hotel, as they are usually already paying a substantial amount to stay here because they are interested in the hotel itself. That would surely be seen as a sign of appreciation and hospitality. Besides this I love this hotel and if you want to stay somewhere in San Diego and can afford the steep price it is well worth it.

We were so impressed with all the staff and the full resort! The staff was a step above. So friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this property!

I’ve stayed at resorts all over the world. This was the nicest resort by far. Everything about it is fantastic. Service was exceptional, great location, good food, and lots to do. Can’t wait to go back
- 4/5
We did get a few ants in our room. As for parking - the fee to self park or valet are extremely ridiculous. You should be aware that it's a very high fee of $90-100/per day.
- 5/5
It was very lovely.

Nice architecture
- 4/5
The location is perfect, nothing can top it. The history and the architecture is amazing, and the staff are very nice, they treat you well. We have stayed here four times now; the costs are ever increasing due to the recent renovation. The pillows are always uncomfortable, Hilton needs to change those pillows; constantly causing me neck pain. They set the thermostat at 68 making it too warm to sleep, they lock the temperature so you cannot adjust it. This visit there was clanging and banging sounds, thumping and hammering all night long; both nights this went on. I have no idea what was going on but it made sleep a little rough this go around.
- 3/5
I stayed at the hotel del Coronado in one of the ocean view suites with my wife for our anniversary. The stay was decent. I wish staff were

Clean rooms. Good housekeeping. Comfortable beds and pillows. A beautiful view of the ocean. A pleasant walk along the ocean. The hotel is very beautiful. Friendly waiters. I was disappointed that I was promised a late check-out, but unfortunately, I was unable to extend my stay in the room for a few hours. This upset me greatly. I'm giving it 4 stars. It's a real shame. Sorry.

- 5/5
It is amazing hotel you can stay.
- 5/5
Great location and great amenities!
- 4/5
Hotel very nice but all food options ate too expensive and not that great for price. Renting fire pit $250 is crazy and all rec options very expensive.
- 5/5
Balcony view was amazing. Staff, amenities and clean room were great
- 4.5/5
Excellent location next to beach and local restaurants Initially we had a very disappointing room and had to ask for upgrade
- 5/5
Garden view room was quiet. Remodel maintained its original charm, complete with creaking floors.
- 5/5
We stayed in the old Victorian building with a balcony overlooking the courtyard garden. It was a beautifully appointed room with lots of space. Everything about the properly is lovely. As a luxury hotel be prepared to pay luxury prices. (Over $200 for 4 beach lounge chairs and two umbrellas for the day). You definitely get what you pay for though, it’s an amazing properly.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
What a marvelous, classic property, with. . the best service. The beach was unobstructed, pool was fantastic
- 5/5
I love the old style hotels. This was exactly what I hoped for with lots to do and great food on site. Nobu Staff could have been friendlier. But I would comeback here for sure.
- 5/5
It was beautiful place to stay!!!
- 5/5
The hotel offers incredible amenities.
- 5/5
Clean hotel, great location and customer service.
- 5/5
Clean room nice view
- 3/5
We had a terrible room high up but with NO view. White concrete walls surrounded our outdoor veranda completely. We had asked for a ground floor. Not pleased. I also did not appreciate being told to wait for 4pm to have access to my room when I paid for the day use of that room on Day 1 as well as the night. Travelers are tired and want to shower and relax after a long plane ride. Put more staff on to ready the rooms much sooner. Not what I expected from an historic upscale luxury hotel that hosted famous people. We also were not told that we could use the pool while awaiting our room. I did ask for another room but first was offered one for an additional $150. Bad PR. Then after I responded, they offered to help look for another but we were leaving by then. Customer service was average run of the mill check in you'd get from $160 a night hotel chains, not Hotel del Coronado.
- 5/5
We had a great view of the historic hotel and of the beach, which was only slightly obstructed by the pool area. Such a great property with excellent restaurants, shops, and activities.
- 2/5
Hotel staff was not respondent to several issues we faced with our stay at Hotel Del. Our room door was left unlocked/open for several hours
- 5/5
Wonderful! We really enjoyed our stay here
- 5/5
It was so fun, especially with kids
- 5/5
Always a wonderful stay at the Del!!!
- 5/5
Always a beautiful place. We love our stay
- 5/5
Beautiful, with great restaurants/ facilities. Pool crowded.
- 5/5
Excellent experience! We loved! Coming back soon
- 5/5
The room is clean
- 5/5
Had a lovely room and the staff was very friendly. A beautiful place to stay!!!
- 5/5
Very nice!
- 4/5
The worst part of it was that the area where they have the taco hut and some chairs on the beach was totally full with trash on the morning. It wasn’t just a thing or two. It was full with garbage from the day prior. It felt like that was their MO, just leave it be and pick up the next morning. I spent 40 minutes with my two kids cleaning while explaining why this was happening. Just a total shame
- 5/5
The property was beautiful. Staff friendly. The restaurants were a little expensive.
- 4/5
We were underwhelmed with the room, property, and amenities based on the price you pay for accommodations. The history is so cool, but you can experience it without reserving a room. We paid extra for a Victorian garden view and there was a dirty diaper and trash on our balcony. Disappointed in the overall experience for the price we paid.
- 5/5
It was a great staycation for New Years Eve. Only complaint is that the hotel is so popular it was so crowded.
- 4/5
yes it over look the beach then the racoons or oposmens came at 02:30 AM and raded my cobana and woke me up
- 5/5
Wonderful in every way
- 5/5
We were upgraded to a balcony with ocean view. It was wonderfull. The most comfortable bed and pillows we’ve experienced in any vacation stay.
- 5/5
Upon the time we arrived and through our check-out everything at the Hotel del Coronado was a premium experience. Can't wait to return.
- 5/5
The location was phenomenal

Superior service and cleanliness

Staff is very friendly and helpful. It’s a gorgeous hotel.

The spa isn’t that great. Spa services excellent. Food is extra expensive. Rooms big and clean.

Our stay was one of the best we have had there. Usually we stay in hotel, but from now on, it will be in the Village. They are private, wonderful staff, super clean, love the fire pits and the closeness to the ocean!

Everything excellent but expensive

- 4/5
Why do you think we had a balcony view we were given neither?
- 5/5
The room was spacious and the view was amazing. Lovely hotel with lots of history! I definitely recommend it!
- 3/5
was told at checkin that parking was included with a room upgrade and that we had a ocean view. Upgrade was $150 a day. Had only a partial ocean view and they also charged us $60 a day to park. very disappointing
- 5/5
Very lovely stay. Balcony view was perfect!
- 5/5
Spotless. Excellent service.
- 4/5
Cheap,badquality bed mattress.
- 5/5
The amount of people there was horrible due to the ice skating and wizard of Oz event occurring at the same time. While the event and hotel were exceptional, the crowds made it hard to enjoy.
- 5/5
Amazing experience!!
- 3/5
is nice, room and staff were ok. Not sure if it's worth the price

Room was incredible, balcony & views were epic, staff were impeccable & friendly, hotel was beyond, beyond gorgeous in its decor for the Christmas holiday.

- 5/5
The service is wonderful and we loved the beautiful room.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect
- 3/5
The overall stay was just okay. Could have been much better. Check in was a tad annoying. We booked a room under the impression we would be staying inside the actual hotel and not on the outskirts in newer buildings. We did get this resolved though from a different person who originally checked us in. Then there were issues with parking as a guest. Our room card didn't work even though the front desk assured us several times that it would. That was very annoying having difficulty getting in and out of the parking. Otherwise the room was lovely
- 5/5
Magical
- 5/5
Good deal
- 3/5
Our room was a limited view (literally facing a wall directly into another room) which we were not informed of upon booking or check in. It’s a large property and very busy during the holiday, to be expected. The staff at the Sun Deck and Story Bar were fantastic. At the pool and Eno it was extremely slow and difficult to place orders. I appreciated the effort with the coffee carts outside our room but after the first day the cart no longer had cups or milk for the rest of our stay. Small things that add up given the cost. It’s a beautiful property though and very special during the holidays.
- 5/5
Beauty of hotel; delicious food at every dining venue there; helpful staff
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms, great activities, wonderful staff
- 5/5
Great Hotel, great location, great staff. Wonderful experience during the holidays.
- 5/5
Expensive but worth it
- 1/5
I will warn anyone who is going to stay at the hotel to ask for a photo of the view from their room. Management should be ashamed they call this the views. We had to look through 2 sets of thick glass when sitting down. And your AI assistant said I so be so lucky because we only paid $440.00 per night. Poor selection of hotel
- 5/5
Room was nice, walkability was great. On site amenities made the stay easy traveling with a toddler.
- 5/5
Balcony room in the Victorian was lovely, a good size and plenty of storage for clothes etc. Loved the shops on the lower T level and the restaurants were amazing. Valet parking is expensive but so slick and made traveling out so easy. Will definitely stay at The Del when I go back to San Diego
- 5/5
Hotel and room were very clean! The hotel staff were very accommodating. The most beautiful hotel with so much history! I absolutely love this place!!
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel! Great staff. Very clean and comfortable. Wonderful beach! A resort with lots to do!
- 5/5
Room was amazing! They upgraded us to a garden view. Very clean. Loved the resort!
- 4/5
The room overlooked the beach. Partial view. Overall , I would have preferred to stay in property for breakfast but was unavailable
- 5/5
Everything is good.
- 4/5
We had a problem with the initial room and were moved two times until we found a good room
- 5/5
Gorgeous facility and wonderful staff!
- 5/5
Beautiful room. Loved having dinner at Nobu right on the property. Lovely hotel staff.
- 5/5
Absolutely incredible hotel. I see why it has its reputation, and it is very well deserved. Will definitely be back.
- 2/5
I’ve travelled all over this country and stayed at many high end resorts. The prices here for parking, drinks, snacks etc are crazy high. $60 for a beer and a glass of wine. $10 for a Kit Kat bar. $79 a night for parking. Great views. Nice beach. But never again.
- 5/5
The room was amazing as well as location, staff and restaurants.
- 5/5
Outstanding experience
- 5/5
An excellent classic beachfront hotel. We have visited the property for several years, but this is the first time that we stayed in the hotel. It lived up to all of our expectations. Located on the famous Coronado Beach, the hotel offers six different dining alternatives, each maintaining a distinctive focus and personality. Loved Nobu in particular. Nice shops. Amazing beach!!
- 5/5
Staff was llteraly perfect. So attentive around the property. Outstanding to make things perfect
- 5/5
Balcony was clean and the room did not overlook the beach
- 5/5
The property was fantastic with everything you need on grounds. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful time!
- 5/5
We absolutely Loved the hotel. It was absolutely stunning and the room was so big and beautiful. We had a private room on the top floor so it was quiet and perfect. The view was amazing. Everything was close by and the staff was somewhat friendly.
- 5/5
Staff were all great and friendly. Prime rib dinner at Veranda was delicious as were the drinks. We will definitely be back. Dennis and Nancy Rood
- 5/5
The view was beautiful. Great service.
- 5/5
Beach view from our balcony was breathtaking. We were able to see the ocean as well as the entire outdoor Coronado pool/outdoor service area. Hotel an easy walk to local shops/food. Great place w lots of history and charm.
- 5/5
beach nice area, nice food area
- 3/5
I travel a lot and use Expedia to book due to the convenience of not being limited to one hotel chain's choices in the area. Occasionally, some hotel chains give you a low priority room or a "lower-tier" room. This is the case with Hotel Del Coronado. Great staff, restaurants, location, pools, etc. and a newly updated room. But the experience was just ok due to "resort view" room. Expected more as a Hilton Honors member. See our resort view picture attached.
- 5/5
Our stay at the Hotel del Coronado was excellent. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Food and drinks are a little pricey but that was expected. I would recommend staying here the next time you are in San Diego.
- 5/5
Perfect room overlooking beach. Veranda dining experience was top notch, outstanding service and excellent food
- 5/5
It's a beautiful hotel rich with history. My boyfriend checked this off his bucket list and we had the best vacation together in beautiful San Diego!
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel and location
- 5/5
Ocean view. Clean room. Ocean was closed due to high bacteria count. Drinks were overpriced and the food was average.
- 5/5
They gave me a free upgraded to a really amazing room! room was newly renovated and beautiful!!!
- 5/5
Hotel was right on the beach which was awesome. We stayed at the views which was very new and clean with excellent housekeeping service. Only thing that would make it even better would be getting a room with a view of the water.
- 5/5
Clean room, Staff Friendly
- 5/5
Amazing property
- 3/5
Beach chairs are not included in the resort fee. The resort fee basically covers just the fitness center and pool. The property grounds are beautiful and room was clean. There are restaurants, coffee, and shops near by.
- 5/5
Clean room love the pouch great ocean view
- 5/5
Nice stay
- 5/5

Uncomfortable pilllows. Needs some firmness as they caused sore necks. Great value, we loved our stay
- 5/5
Great ocean view located right on wide beach. Hotel is awesome.
- 5/5
Fantastic service, beautiful, and clean. If I could give it more stars I would

Leila did an amazing job making our anniversary trip unforgettable.
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby, clean rooms, friendly staff, and great location.
- 5/5
Beautiful oceanfront room with balcony!
- 5/5
Beautiful Historic space with a beach that is second to none!
- 5/5
I cannot wait for a return trip to The Del! From the moment I arrived on the property, I was treated with the best service. The bed was like a cloud, the food and drinks were amazing, and you can’t beat walking right out to the beach!
- 2/5
Room was loud, thermostat did not work, shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Self parking is not convenient. Would not recommend. Too expensive for what you get.
- 5/5
Brilliant Atmosphere, all perfect.
- 5/5
Loved our stay at this iconic hotel. Very pricey but worth the experience.
- 5/5
Amazing 4 day stay…loved everything about this hotel. Restaurants were great, surrounding area restaurants were also great. What we didn’t like was you had to spend $175. to sit by the fire pits at the outdoor bar. For 4 people it’s doable but for 2? Insane!! Total rip off & unfair if you are staying on the property. Out of about 8 fire pits only 1 was being used…this was at 9 pm…so instead of making some $$ they chose to price gauge & not make any $$…sounds like poor business management
- 2/5
My room was terrible. Air conditioner kept going off and room got hot, room service was slow and toilet seat moved around the toilet. Music played until 10 to 11 pm and I clearly needed peace.
- 3/5
Staff is not very friendly. Rooms could be cleaner. That being said it’s an amazing place and I’m glad I discovered it.
- 3/5
Iconic Hotel, looked forward to staying at this luxury hotel, we very rarely stay at this caliber of a hotel. Our experience was really disappointing. We couldn’t check in until 4:00pm. Then they only had 1-2 bellmen on staff. We had to unload our own car and wait for someone to take our bags, They then took our bags to storage instead of right to our room. They said we had to go to our room and call for someone to bring them to us. Then said we had to wait in our room until our bags anrrived and we had to wait in our room - this all took well over an hour. Additionally we never felt like a guest with special access to the hotel. There is a Patio Bar/restaurant that had several sofa/lounge sections where you could sit in the shade and see the ocean. After we sat down, they told us that there was a $175 minimum to sit there! We told them we were staying at the hotel and it did not make any difference. We noticed that all the lounge sections were empty….which made sense. It’s a shame that when you are staying at a hotel such as this one, that you are treated so poorly and the same as any customer walking if from the beach. There was no area on the facility that had a place for the guest to find shade and see the ocean except for the lounge areas. Every amenity was an extra charge. You could stay at any nearby hotel and get the same access to this hotel. Wouldn’t recommend spending the money.

An incredible stay, the beautiful grounds and friendly staff! Thank you❤️

Absolutely beautiful

My favorite place to stay in San diego!
- 5/5
The hotel was absolutely beautiful.
- 5/5
It was a great place to stay .
- 5/5
Very beautiful place. Perfect for a quick family getaway.
- 4/5
Beautifully restored classic hotel. Amazing grounds and great restaurant options. That said you will need to bring the big wallet. Hotel room walls are a little thin. Rooms are smaller than most 5 stars. They are busy so I guess people can overlook these things.
- 5/5
New renovation is NICE! Obviously the iconic Del is a bit pricey, but its worth the money if you can afford it.
- 5/5
The beach. The navy buds base
- 5/5
Beautiful property with lots of activities for all ages. Beautiful location.
- 2/5
Was a nice getaway. Didn't like the bird poop otside our window or the previous guest's toiletries and water bottles left behind.
- 5/5
also lots of dust under the chairs that needed to be cleaner the room overall was clean but maybe a mop down every guest to leave
- 3/5
Stay was good but poor management. It’s a huge property but
- 5/5
Still has it after our first visit 46 years ago!
- 3/5
Over rated! The hotel is classic old Victorian! I can understand it for conferences and meetings but definitely not suitable for family or romantic vacation ! The noises from airplanes flying over your head all day and high bean military exercises lights shined on our room from the ocean all night! We stayed at the ocean front room which is upper end price but was not worse it! Food and drinks served was not bad but nothing special! Front desk staff were robotic and none accommodating ! We were disappointed in the whole experience and left day early ! Safe time and money and stop by and valet parking your car for $100 / day and visit the Victoria Buidling if this your thing ! There are varieties of places and experiences in San Diego to enjoy as family or couple better than this hotel! I hope this help someone out there and safe them the unnecessary waist!

The parking was expensive

We love the Balcony Veranda overlooking the patio room. The attention to detail in the room and overall parts of the hotel made it so exciting to be there. My wife took so many photos annd that’s anlways a good sign. All the staff was super nice and welcoming. Sylvia at front desk, Myra at concierge, Franchesca in store did great. We had a great anniversary stay. Would highly recommend. The only draw back of our stay was food prices too high. Walked across the way to the other restaurants that were really good and more affordable. If you’re looking for sea shells close by, we found some at Silver Strand Beach 10 minutes south. Had a great stay overall.

Beautiful hotel, nice staff. Love it there!
- 5/5
Fantastic resort hotel in a lovely area - lots of choices of restaurants both in and just outside of the resort. Nice pool area - only negative was the charge for sunbeds and umbrellas on the Hotels private beach area for Hotel guests . This does not seem right in charging Hotel guests and not something i had come across before.
- 3/5
In addition, our room was not ready at check-in time. I thought the staff was okay, they were reasonably friendly, but not exceptionally so (although the room cleaning lady was very friendly). Furthermore, the dining was far overpriced for the quality and amount of the food. There was not a microwave in the room for heating up leftovers. I enjoyed my stay, but will not go back.
- 5/5
Beautiful location, very accommodating staff, renovations are lovely. We enjoyed our time at the pool, on the beach and walking around the island.
- 5/5
Beautiful amenities, staff is very helpful and friendly, beach and pool as shops are fantastic.
- 4/5
The property was very walkable. Everything was really immaculate. The service staff did a wonderful job. The only problem that we had was the maintenance of the facilities. We had about three or four different maintenance issues. Come up that made this stay a little bit more challenging.
- 3/5
The property itself is very nice/historical. It has a few areas”neighborhoods “ to the area so you do need to look at the map to see where you want to go to. Its views are spectacular. Pools are on the smaller side and you are only allowed to use the pool that is closest to where you are staying at. Our room in the “views area was nice nothing amazing but our view was nice since we got an upper floor (6). The shower situation was not great, we had to use a few towels to soak up the water that would flow from the shower. We made a reservation at one of the restaurants. We were seated pretty fast but then we waited over an hour for our food to arrive! Our waiter came by twice in the 2 hours that we were there. Apparently we were not the only guests that were complaining, the couple next to us were waiting over 40 minutes for there desert but never came, the man had to get up and go find the waiter to bring his check. We spent close to $300 on a family of 4 on dinner that we ended packing up since we weren’t hungry anymore. What upset me was that the restaurant kept calling us on my phone after we left, I left a tip but not enough. Overall, I honestly don’t think I would stay here again. $700 for a night, $300 for dinner, $100 for 3 drinks.

Amazing hotel!!! 100% recommended
- 5/5
West coast meets east coast elegance exemplified in this hotel. Expect to be treated well and enjoy a fun filled resort stay. There is a lot of great things to say and the restaurants are amazing. Main pool is crowded and busy. My main negative is the beach rentals. As a resort, that should be included and not as extra. Other than that, we really felt on vacation separate from main land and enjoyed the entire experience. Nobu and Serea both had amazing food and service. Definitely recommend. Sun deck is always a favorite. Menu is limited but very good. Bar drinks were my favorite.

Perfect!
- 5/5
Nicely remodeled
- 3/5
Room was spacious with private patio but wasn't very clean and the layout was not as described when booking, which was unfortunate when we were looking for a specific layout when traveling with small children. Overall, a fine experience but not amazing.
- 4/5
The hotel and surrounding area is stunningly, beautiful. There are lots of options for walking, running, biking, or just taking in the gorgeous view. The rooms are well equipped, and tastefully decorated. Service was a bit on the slow side, and I was surprised at the mediocrity of the food options in all of the on site Restaurants we tried.

Whats not to like 😊
- 5/5
Great vibes, and very elegant property!
- 2/5
They had fire alarm issues early in the day and that was triggering but it was worse when they went off around 11 pm when I was sleeping. I guess they had fire the department deployed because of a sprinkler and steam but no fire. This was awesome that there was no fire but the alarm was just non stop until it was all clear. It really was not a luxurious night.
- 5/5
The Hilton has done a wonderful job restoring this majestic and storied property with the utmost care—leaving all of the charm intact but updating where needed. We LOVED every moment of our stay!
- 5/5
Nice beach front view
- 3/5
Beautiful property, too expensive!!!!! plus you pay taxes, resort fees and the food was too expensive. We won't be doing this one again!!!!
- 5/5
Family friendly. Loved our stay.
- 2/5
Room wasn’t clean
- 4/5
Nice historic hotel, grounds were very nice but the food way too expensive.
- 2/5
we had a room that was infested with mosquitos and the property had a horrible solution to put us in a much smaller unaccommodating room. We sent a letter to the general manager and waiting to hear back.
- 5/5
Very nice place for its age.
- 2/5
Postage size closet with no desk space. Insufficient drawer space due to no night stands. Pool and hot tub not accessible as venue was oversold so no chairs, towels and couldn't even get near the hot tub as it was full. Remembering one specific day when i swear by all that's holey we asked for our room to be cleaned on three times during the course of the day an no bueno. Being older folks with a few medical issues we requested a bathtub in advance but ended up with only a shower. Not the same since Hilton take over and is a must to avoid these days. Do yourself a favor and try the Loews or any other of the fine hotels on Coronado.
- 5/5
Great amenities Easy access to gym open late, swimming pool/fitness Food until 10pm
- 4/5
Fantastic visit and experience. Staff at all levels were outstanding. My only disappointment was in our ‘Ocean View’ room, which while very expensive, offered a ‘peekaboo’ view of the actual ocean itself, if that, while the main veranda, located on side of room, overlooked right over all the A/C vents and bird poop covered roof.

Amazing vibe.

Simply amazing!!!

While we were upgraded to a higher floor, the first check-in was chaotic: long lines, no greeting, no welcome drink, and they missed my hypoallergenic room request—critical due to my asthma. A late-night call to the front desk led to the agent essentially accusing me of lying. He promised a text to resolve it, but it never came. Dining was overpriced and riddled with errors, though I appreciated the credit they offered. The fitness center was clean but barely equipped, and the pool area was overrun with noisy kids—no peaceful adult zone in sight. Service was generally cold and slow. Only Trinity, a manager, and 2 other managers showed care and made things right. Still, it shouldn’t take a complaint to get good service. The property is charming, but member-only dining and poor in-room amenities (no slippers, powdered creamer, dirty windows) were disappointing. Even sunscreen costs $20 at the pool. In the end, it felt more like a chaotic tourist trap than a luxury stay. At $300/night, I’d give it 4 stars. At $500/night, never again.

Our favorite place
- 5/5
Beautiful Hotel, beautiful grounds, excellent food choices. NOBU is amazing. Close walk to town with wonderful restaurants and shopping close by.
- 5/5
The old and new blend of original building. Easy to locate and navigate areas of interest.
- 5/5
I loved it all. Wished we could have stayed longer.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our time and our room was very nice.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel, grounds and amenities! Would definitely come back here. Food and drinks are a bit expensive but there is plenty in the area if you would want to go elsewhere. Ocean water here is cold, not really meant for swimming but the beach and sun are perfect temperatures! Room was comfortable... great beds and showers. Daily housekeeping. My only complaint was when they assigned us the room, they mentioned it was by an ice machine (which it was, but in it's own room... we did not hear it once) but did not mention the noisy loading zone parking lot outside our window. Would definitely have said no due to that when they gave us the chance.
- 5/5
Honestly the most beautiful hotel ive ever stsyed at. The stsff is incredibly helfpul and was texting activity ideas during the trip. The area is amazing and the food is incredible. Amazing experience
- 5/5
Very well kept, beautiful views and staff from housekeeping to checking in staff where courteous and pleasant. Made us feel welcome
- 4/5
The Del Coronado was great. We stayed there more for the history than anything. The main part of the hotel just reopened after a remodel. The rooms are nice and have been kept correct to the time period. Our room was comfortable and suited us for the trip. It will however be our only stay at The Del. Everything is crazy expensive there. Overnight self parking is $59 per nite on top of the $450 per night room charge. A 20oz bottle of Coke was 8 bucks. I get it, it’s the well to do part of San Diego, but they could do their patrons better than they do for the prices you have to pay for things. $450 per night should really equal free overnight parking. Just one man’s opinion
- 5/5
Beautiful, peaceful and social property.
- 4/5
But disappointed we paid for ocean view room but got a partial ocean view instead… with the towering condos.

Amazing

Overall, this hotel was subpar for what you expect and pay for. Location was great and staff were friendly. Our room was in the Cabanas. Expect to walk a long distance from the Cabanas to the underground parking garage each time you need your vehicle. Our shower was clogged and wouldn't drain and there was orange slime/mold in the corners of the shower. There were stains on the sheets that appeared to be old blood. The pillows, bedding, and mattresses were flat, hard, and uncomfortable. The "exclusive" bath products (shampoo and conditioner) fried my wife and daughter's hair. Highly recommend you take your own products and pillows. The heated pool was nice but a cover to an underwater speaker had broken off (or was taken off by someone) and fell to the bottom of the pool with it's loose screws facing up, which I accidentally stepped on. I notified the staff member on duty who was kind and immediately notified her supervisor. The supervisor didn't come check on the situation or ask how we were doing, which I found odd. Overall, for a high priced exclusive hotel, we found a lot lacking.
- 5/5
It was a great experience all around; definitely returning to this hotel! Thank you Hotel Del Coronado staff!
- 5/5
Worthy of its stellar reputation, this gem of a hotel does not disappoint. Expensive for beach chairs….and every little thing is $$$…..but an experience of a lifetime. Perfectly curated for life-long memories! Don’t miss!

I’ve stayed at many hotels and I’ve never had any items stolen from my room. My iPad was stolen at this hotel from my room and unfortunately not even the manager cared to call me with any update. It was a great disappointment with the overall stay. I requested towels and after multiple calls to the front desk to no avail, I decided to fetch a housekeeper and ask her for towels. The safe in the room was broken. I could go on and on. I would definitely not recommend this Hotel.
- 4/5
I thought the hotel was very nice but the cost of food and drink was so overpriced! I kept thinking of how they compared to Disneyland prices and what you got for that. I would not go again as I felt that guests were being taken advantage of with just how much everything cost. Just to sit on one of the couches outside in the food area we were told we’d have to spend $175!
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful and feels very special. The service everywhere is warm and accommodating. Just what we needed!! It is a resort so everything on property is pricey--but also worth the price. Lovely area around the hotel for restaurants. The beach is right there and the facility is gorgeous. I worried that it might be a little "tired" but it is newly renovated and it is just what you want it to be!!
- 5/5
Rooms have been updated and staff is wonderful as usual. Everything is pricey, but worthy it.
- 3/5
The initial impression and experience at this hotel was negative the moment we stepped out of our vehicle and greeted by the concierge. The experience of the hotel iteself was great but overall the service from the staff wasn't phenomenal as you'd expect with this type of hotel. We did enjoy our stay and the room was comfortable. They are just lacking in service.
- 5/5
Liked everything!!

Noicy
- 5/5
Beautiful beautiful experience…..felt like we were staying on a remote island somewhere. Breakfast choices were limited however dinner choices were divine. We felt the rental of beach chairs/umbrella was excessive so opted for the pool instead. Took us a day or so to figure out the lay of the land but we just kept wondering. Memories that will last a lifetime 💙
- 3/5
While our overall experience was very nice (clean, pretty, walk to town) it was a disappointment that there was only one pool for the Victorian area. We also did not get to enjoy the ocean as there was a hazardous waste warning.
- 5/5
Excellent and cleanness
- 3/5
Hotel is beautiful and nicely maintained, however, the beach was closed due to high bacteria during our stay. There was construction going on at the main pool entrance as well. In my opinion the hotel is not wheel chair friendly. No automatic doors, one of the two main elevators did not even fit my wheelchair.
- 5/5
Only bad thing was the beach was closed for 3 of the days because of the sewage from Mexico. Other then that it was great!
