I hope they get more ranch hands to help maintain the animals such as grooming. The many many flies were all over the animals. The poor alpacas kept kicking to shake them off. The best part was the brand new jacuzzi.

The cabin was in a quite good condition, some places a bit dirty. The room heater made a lot of noise so it kept us up all night and the hot water wasn't enogh for two people to take hot showers in a cold winter night.

I was in town visiting my son. We could not spend much time at his dorm, so I was hoping this place would provide us with somewhere to hang out at for several hours and not have to be out and about. There really was not much to keep us busy there. I thought there was a pool table, as it's listed in the pictures, but I guess they got rid of it. I thought maybe there would be someone around to help us be interactive with the animals, but there was no direction there. They were just in their pins. I found the maintenance guy out and he told me I could feed them, and was kind enough to get us some food to feed them with. Our hot tub was underfilled so we didn't use that. He offered to look at it when I told him but we were heading out anyway. They don't have any fishing equipment to use, you have to bring your own. And the room was much smaller than anticipated so we couldn't really hang out in it. My son and I did not spend more than an hour hanging out there. With all that said, it was very peaceful out there. It was clean, my bed was comfortable. It was a charming place. If you aren't looking for it to keep you entertained, it is fine. Or if you have smaller children, they would like it more. The ducks around the pond were really cute. And the fountain in the pond was very relaxing to listen to while sitting on the porch.

The owners should have been more clear about there no breakfast the jext morning since most reviews from people said the breakfast was great. The place was overgrown, hasnt been mowed or cleaned up in awhile. Very hard to get owners to respond, and when they did by text very short. Seemed to me like all they cared about was the money coming in, but clearly wasnt using any of it on more staff or to keep the place up. Website said there was a pool table, bar and friendly staff. Which when we got there we were the only ones at almost 530 pm drove to our cabin slowly and literally looked like a scary movie waiting to happen, or like a abandoned place. The bathroom was dirty, toilet wasnt flushed from whoever before. The bed was horrible, i have a bad back, and when i said something today, i got brushed off and was told told they lowered their prices by 40 % and they will look at tv. I pretty muc want a refund, since i paid almost $200 for a room I didnt even pick. I picked a room online and when we went for check in we got a different room, which i picked my room that I wanted for a reason. Kind of ruined my short getaway for my anniversary / birthday and I would like a refund!!

Very interesting and unique getaway just on the outskirts of civilization. We used it as a stopover on a longer trip rather than stay in a typical chain hotel. The owners were friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable in our lovely bungalow on their small alpaca farm. The property's small pub was closed due to COVID-19 precautions, but we were able to meet some of the animal residents, enjoy the private hot tub attached to the cottage, and had a nice breakfast delivered. Highly recommended and romantic.

We've stayed in castles in Spain that weren't as engaging as The Old Irish B&B! This is hands down one of the best overnight experiences we've come to know. From the lodging to the staff, nothing was short of excellent. Jim and his 'extended' family of alpaca and great Pyrenees were an absolute treat and always kept us smiling throughout our two-day stay. Breakfast in bed, a personal hot tub, and environmentally friendly in design, I will never hesitate to suggest this place in the future to all friends and family.

Jim and Rita made our long trip from Kansas to Houston and back a very relaxing experience. We stayed 2 nights. The second night was on our return trip from Houston with a young bull and 4 steers that we bedded down for the night in a corral adjacent to the main house. Jim ensured that adequate hay and water was supplied and the animals remained calm the entire night. It made our stay exceptionally relaxing knowing that the animals were safe. We will be returning next time without the cattle.

We got a call from Jim, to discuss when we'd arrive, and what we needed to do when we got there ... and, when we pulled up, there was initially a bit of question for me, but my wife reminded me this was a working alpaca farm, and to wait to see what we were headed into ... and, she was SO right!!! Jim met our vehicle, and escorted us to our room/cabin ... and, Jim was fun and just a pleasure to deal with. The room we had (the Nancee Gee Room) was just wonderful. Very clean, very comfortable, and the private hot tub was real nice. (Note, Jim stated that they were looking to upgrade the hot tubs soon, and we can't wait to return to try the new one.) Jim and Rita were wonderful hosts. Breakfast in bed on Sunday morning was wonderful. The continental breakfast on Monday morning also hit the spot. Was nice to be the only guests on the property on Sunday night, as we roamed around, and Jim showed us some of the uniqueness of the property. That alpaca were fun, and we just loved the dogs (and puppies) that were always there to greet us. (The chickens seemed to want to try to come into the room with us, but ... LOL) Overall, this was a great experience. We are fairly regular to B&Bs, and have tried the more elite to the very basic ... and all in between. And, for amenities and service, Jim and Rita at Old Irish do rate the 5 stars they have overwhelmingly earned. The fact that they are so close to our home, and even closer to our granddaughters ... this will become a regular getaway for my wife and I. -- Allen & Jonita Harris, The Colony, TX

I am going to be sharing the video i took of the Alpaca experience with Jim and Rita so they could post on the site along with the MANY PICTURES I took during our stay. I have to give a 5 star rating only because it goes no higher. You would never know that the owners have full time jobs on top of the B&B that they run because of the amount of attention and care they put into the place. We are already looking to book our next stay there in the beginning of next year and plan to make this a yearly visit for us. I have 3 regrets from this stay we had and will share them with you so you do not make the same mistakes. 1. The stay we booked was for checking in Friday evening and checking out Monday morning. The stay was great but not even close to long enough!!! 2 more nights would have gave the relaxation time to set in and be so much more enjoyable. 2. I did not bring my fishing rod to enjoy the catch and release 3.to many characters

really nice cabins, I was afraid it would be a bit small for us and our 18 years old daughter, but it was perfect. Great for animal lovers, with the alpacas and the lovely dogs on the property

Our cottage, the Carenna, was snug and cozy with an incredible mattress on our four poster bed, an attached private side porch and a private hot tub. Irish and natural touches abound, coffee is right in the room (and its GOOD coffee) and Alpaca shaped spearmint soap engaged the senses during a hot shower. We got up early (we have young children, it was inevitable, even without them being there) and I took a relaxing soak in the hot tub while my husband caught four catfish that ranged from 8-15 pounds on the dock. Did I mention breakfast in bed? Or on the porch? Or anywhere you want to have it? I am a vegetarian. My husband is not. Our gorgeous wooden breakfast trays arrived looking exactly the same. Forget about a guest being a vegetarian? Ar ndóigh, ní ! Of course not! Soy bacon and sausage for me, meat version for my husband, with scrambled eggs, Irish breakfast potatoes, raspberries, strawberries, special banana (amazing), cherry pastry and, since its Fall, petit pumpkin cakes in an incredible icing with streusel on top. And orange juice. And, of course, that coffee. Next up, the Alpaca experience. We heard about the evolution of the alpaca while sitting at a picnic table next to a fenced off area where Valentino, the alpaca that kisses the ladies on the cheek (its a nice, soft, dry kiss) eyed us. Then we got right into the fenced off areas where these beauties ate directly out of our cupped hands. We did it again with the babies. Their tongues swept our palms and then the babies decided we should cuddle. Maybe they knew it was our anniversary.

We had a wonderful time at this B&B. Jim, the host, was amazing making you feel right at home. The jokes and welcome drinks start the evening off and the hot tub an nice way to relax. The alpacas were very friendly and posed for many a picture. We will certainly stay again when in the area. The bed was so comfy...

We loved our stay with all the alpaca's. Jim is the perfect host and the morning breakfast is more the generous. The cottage is well set out and the porch lovely to sit out on with the pond and fountain to sooth the soul. We certainly will return when in the area.

This is a wonderfully peaceful place to visit with your own cabins. The staff is fantastic and every morning there's an excellent breakfast waiting up at the main building. If your looking for something more private and relaxing but still the price of a local hotel this is your place.

Although this is a working farm, there are no unpleasant smells or sounds. It's very relaxing and enjoyable. Although you are less than 10 minutes away from great shopping and food, you feel like you are out in the country with no worries. Basically, all the advantages of a remote location without any of the disadvantages. Jim provides excellent free wifi for his guests. We had a great experience and want to go back there on our next anniversary. I recommend this as a wonderful place to have a fun, relaxing, romantic getaway.

Jim tells great jokes and the Alpaca experience is not to be missed. The alpacas are fun and softer than you would think. My husband and I weren't sure what to expect as this was our first visit to a BandB but it was far beyond anything we could have anticipated. We plan on returning for our anniversary. I highly recommend this place as a fantastic romantic getaway.

My customer asked me to come down for a couple of days to help them out. I was not looking forward to staying at yet another chain hotel, eating processed eggs and sausage. Whenever I travel, I like to see if there are any B&Bs near where I will be working. With the luck of the Irish at my back, I found the Old Irish B&B and it was closer to the customer than any of the hotels!! This is not your typical B&B where all the guests stay in the same house. We all get our own 'little' house to stay in. I also liked the breakfast basket as I needed to be at the customer fairly early and did not have the time for a sit down breakfast. Jim and Rita are cognizant of the weekday guest's needs as well as the weekend guest where it is more relaxed. The cottage is clean and comfortable. The bed was also comfortable. It sure beats a hotel room! The good news is that my customer is asking me to come back and I will definitely stay here again!!! woohoo.
