The lady at the front desk was the sweetest! She was very helpful, the place was cozy, parking was easy, the place was easy to find, we were here for college graduation, and while everyone else was price gouging I felt this place was great for the price. Also I didn’t see the elk but because I missed it, the lady at the front desk showed me some footage of it and some other wild life and I thought that was so cool! Thank you for treating us like family and being so welcoming! I’d definitely stay here again

Very rustic but beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately office staff is not available between 8 pm and 9 am and we lost hot water at that time so unable to shower in time for an appointment. Staff was not apologetic but offered another room to shower though it was too late. No partial refund offered. Warning: zero bathroom counter space, poor lighting and you have to wash your dishes and take out trash before you leave. You will bang your leg into the metal bed frame LOL! Gorgeous surroundings though!

We loved it here. We got great personal service and tour of the property, wildlife included! I would recommend using the space to cook, as all restaurants are about 20-mins away. But still quite convenient as we headed into Estes park anyway. I liked the peace and not being in town. I read and had my coffee by the river in the sunny early morning

100% would go back! Staff was very nice and accommodating when original booking couldnt be honored. Upgraded us at the same price! Also a nice welcome basket waiting for us. Never had a large chain hotel do that for us. Nice view and river is easily accessible for fishing or dunking your feet. Just the stay we needed to de-stress from everyday life.

Stoney River Lodge was the perfect spot to stay for a trip to RMNP. It's a reasonable distance from DIA and RMNP hikes. All of the rooms have a theme. Ours was western / cowboy. Some parts of the room were not clean - we were provided a 20-inch box fan (that was well-needed), but it was filthy. We had to wash any dishes we used in the little kitchen, which I didn't mind, but we would have otherwise been charged a fee. I didn't feel really good about trusting every other guest to have washed everything well, so I also pre-washed. The Big Thompson River flows right outside - very nice and relaxing and not noisy at night. No/difficult cell service. No local places to eat. Good value away from Estes Park, which is a lovely place - will be better after they finish road construction.

Gorgeous spot -right across from the River. Owners very nice… reviewed room with us before we checked in. Let a very nice welcome basket and even had doggy treats for our dog! But, going in July is HOT outside. No A/C. Ran fans alls day to try and keep place cool. Also, shower stall needs work. Too small for adult size bodies. Toilet not secured to floor… it moves after you sit or get off of it. Overall nice place. Bonus was the river being right outside our door.

Overall, really nice. The location and setting are great. I liked that it was a more affordable option than staying in Estes Park but only added about a 20 min drive. Appreciated the basket of some snacks. Friendly check in. The room is a bit rustic, but they are cabins so I expected that. The main negative thing is that the outside light shines through the door window and there’s no curtain or shade to block it, so if you need it dark in order to sleep, this might be an issue.

    1) The lodge is located in a spectacular CANYON right next to the Thompson River. The scenery of the area differed than one in the NP, and that made our drives back after whole days spent hiking in the NP enjoyable. 2) The location of the lodge in the canyon caused decreased temperatures. We comfortably slept through every night while keeping the windows open. There was no need need for AC or a fan at night. On our last day, we made it back to lodge sooner than on previous days (around 3pm) and enjoyed the afternoon with a fan on. I was cooking while we stayed in the lodge, and never had I felt an level of heat around was uncomfortable. 3) Drive to the NP entrance took about 30 minutes, and on two days we left at 5:00am (before sunset). 4) Linda made an effort to make us feel welcome. We felt as if we were staying at someone’s little house in a canyon. The kitchenette was fully stuffed: pots, pans, utensils, a cutting board, a dish soap, an electric stove (2 rings), a microwave, small size fridge (no freezer), a coffee maker. The bathroom was clean, towels were provided but keep in mind to bring your own soap and shampoo. It makes sense since we have different preferences. There was an access to a coal-grill. 5) We’ll remember our evening conversations and with other guests who stayed next door. Great stay!

Wow, what a great place! Owners are so friendly and eager to make sure you have everything you need. Dishes, silverware, small stovetop with pans, etc...even grill utensils and supplies. Very comfortable bed, cozy room. If you are a tall person, be aware that the shower touched the top of my head and the sink is kind of low...and I'm 5'7"! (Buffalo room) But not a deal breaker!! Right on the river and close to all kinds of Colorado beauty. I will be back for sure and have already recommended this spot to several CO friends.

Although it was well organized, the room was tiny, and there is no air conditioning. They did provide fans to keep the rooms tolerable, and 90% of the year the heat would not be an issue. This is an older property, but in good condition. As long as you don't have a ton of luggage and don't during a heat wave, I would definitely recommend it.

This is a quaint little place. They only have 10 rooms, it was probably built in the 50's. The place is clean and the owners are extremly nice. Just pay close attention to booking a room, Expedia has set up their site so it's a little confusing. You must book by the room name and read what the room includes. However, the river runs right in front of the property, so you can fish right out the front door. It's very peaceful there. There is no air conditioning, but you don't need it, the breeze there is so cool. After visiting the hussle and bussle of Estes Park, it was nice to come to a calm place.

First of all there is no air conditioning their ad does not say second of all the internet is really crappy and spotty you may or may not get a service there's no phone service no reception anybody needs to get a hold of you in a emergency you are screwed. There are wasp flying above all the doors which I am allergic to. Their add says no trailers permitted and they were trailers there in a very small parking lot. They tried to blame orbits for the miscommunication... Find someplace else to stay ...the shower has no water pressure and is about chest height... He said if you're not completely satisfied with your room and my refund your money and keep the $50 deposit they would not refund no money..

Lori, the owner is so nice and caring. She made sure we looked at the Bear room before we even got to the paperwork, that was a surprise because whenever I have stayed anywhere, they check you in and barely tell you where the room is. I have already booked another stay in August! The sound of the river is just so peaceful and awesome. I do not take vacations or get always. This stay was due to a cattle sorting competition. The next will be because I did enjoy the Stoney River Lodge and just want to get away and I can’t think of a more convenient and beautiful place to go.

But according to the description (hotels.com) and the cost I would have expected at least 1 level up like more service, at least once a week cleaning and changing sheets and towels And enough shampoo and shower gel for the period of stay Fireplace wasn’t working what was a reason of choosing this cabin. We arrived late and the room was already open and awaiting us. First glance was quaint, old and cramped. Pitiful cheap bed with no box springs and just two pillows. Bathroom was tiny and the curtains were not big enough or thick enough for privacy. There was a decent sized TV and a welcome basket with some snacks and drinks. Sometime during the night, we started smelling fumes of some sort, by 6 am we had to open windows and turn on a fan as our eyes were burning. There was no carbon monoxide or fire detectors to tell us if there was a serious problem and the heater was some 1950’s looking gas heater the likes I’ve never seen. We promptly got dressed and checked out a day early and told the receptionist we wouldn’t be back due to this reason. No offers for a refund just an apology and that they would check it out. So this is not somewhere I would ever recommend to anyone.

Family operated, nice mountain setting along a mountain stream. Firepit and seating along river are a nice touch.

I loved staying here and didn’t want to leave. I was here for a softball tournament my daughter was in. I decided to stay here for half the trip and in a hotel in Loveland with the team for the rest of the trip. I wanted a good Colorado in the mountains, on the river experience. I did not want to leave.

We had a nice stay but be advised that this is a very old property and even though it was clean it is very rustic. The other limiting factor was there is no place to walk other than the area right on the property since it is surrounded by private properties.

Amazing in every way! Quiet, relaxing! Owners were so thoughtful. Welcome baskets and room included everything you can possibly need including sandwich bags, lighter fluid, charcoal, sunscreen, etc. We had a wonderful stay and would go back again in a heartbeat.

didn't care to be next to the office, the pictures made it look like it was by the river. We couldn't use the sofa bed for the second bed as the mattress was paper thin and dirty so my neice had to drive to Loveland at night to sleep. There just was no privacy to set outside without the staff wanting to join us. They always sat at the only chairs offered by the river...

The place was so peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are decorated so adorable. We will definitely be back for sure. The ladies that run the place made sure our stay was perfect. Not too far from Estes and we enjoyed the s’mores by the fire pit next to the river. Also played with the horseshoes. Perfect spot for a quiet relaxing getaway.

First off, the staff is amazing. Got a tour upon checkin, free snacks, little store inside the checkin area, and wow they even live there so said if we needed anything after hours just ring the doorbell. This place is not a fancy place but of you arent high maintenance this is your place for a good price. Plenty of fish in the river, firepits, definitely going back many times! They even emailed me after we left because i left some gloves and offered to mail them to me! Cant beat that service!

Check in info from Josh was nice, real nice guy but we we disappointed for sure! Since fire ban no outside firepit option which would've been nice depending on who else is there because everything is VERY close together, there is no outdoor space at all. Keep in mind there is NO food/drink anywhere for min 20 minutes either direction, winding canyon roads very dark at night, bring everything you might need! I emailed days ahead of check in, always check about coffee for first morning..."yes we supply a coffee maker with enough coffee for a full pot each day"... first morning of coffee, NO MUGS, are you serious??!! Why didn't you tell me that in the email & more importantly HOW DO YOU NOT SUPPLY COFFEE MUGS IF YOU SUPPLY COFFEE, DUH! No spoon, stir sticks etc. The room's front door had a curtain over the glass with holes in it (decorative holes like lace) but the entry is right at the bed because that's all that's in the Eagle room,..so anyone can look right into your front door, we had to cover the door with a towel for privacy. There are 2 wooden chairs for you to sit on & the bed, that's all. If you're hanging out in the room watching TV you will be VERY uncomfortable on those chairs. Not here to watch tv but keep in mind Wifi was horrible, couldn't watch local TV without pausing & buffering every 20 seconds. The bed was surprisingly comfortable but we definitely will never return, good luck new owners, spend $20 in that room for 2 chairs & 2 mugs!

Excellent location! Cottages are clean and well maintained. Owners are personable, happy people. It was a joy to escape to this place and leave the angry world behind.

We booked the Caboose room. This is an old, dirty and dusty mobile home, not a cabin. The windows were not closing leaving with big open air gaps, oven was not working, rooms were small and the lighting was bad. They provided heaters and blankets but this is not what is advertised on their site. The room looks way worse than in the pictures and the owner acknolwdged the issues. Stay away!
