I try to seek out historical buildings - in the USA that typically means finding older motels. The Angler’s Inn has a cute aesthetic. However the bedding was uncomfortable, damp, and the entire apartment was moldy and musty. There is no privacy. The owner and their current boyfriend want to socialize with their guests - good if you are looking to socialize. Bothersome if you are wanting peace and quiet. I liked that I had booked only one night. If you like to party, drink, and want a loud festive atmosphere - I would recommend. If you are looking for a quiet water view retreat - this ain’t it. Immediately walking in the floor slants downwards - if you have vertigo or mobility issues this is a rather dangerous design feature. Mold is clearly an issue and the owner has just painted over it. The entire room was damp, musty, moldy, and synthetic fragrances were not covering up the mold - just making it smell more toxic. Hosts that refuse to use some dang vinegar and do some proper mold remediation - disgusting. It truly should be illegal to have people stay in places with mold. Also full on creepy - the hosts boyfriend would pace back and forth on the dock - so if you sat in bed looking out at the water - some creepy man was leering in your room. Nope. It was expensive. Moldy. Dirty. And the hosts seemed like they just wanted guests to get day drunk with. Nope. Hosts who wanna peer in their guests windows are creepy. This place was skin crawl gross.

It was small but very nice. Loved the screened in patio. I do think the bathroom needed a pole in it to hang cloths. There was nowhere we could go with our things except to leave them in our bags.

They parked boats in front of our room. And that Harley motorcycle is very loud.

Cute Inn in Matlacha. Clean rooms, comfy beds, and a great screened in porch for each room. Town still recovering from Ian, but still a great time.
- 5/5
After traveling on business for many years and staying in all the Marriott's and Hilton's, it's really a pleasure to stay in an old-fashioned "motor inn" where not everything is perfect, but you feel good just about the place because it's so homey. That's what we loved about Angler's Inn, a quaint, small inn directly on the water in Matlacha. We had a nice little kitchen, a great bed, and a screened-in porch. We did spend a lot of time out on the dock waving as the boats drifted by. We walked to a great restaurant and visited some of the stores in the nice town. We'll definitely re-visit Matlacha and stay at Angler's Inn.
- 5/5
It was perfect just as described on the website.
- 4/5
We stayed there for our 42nd anniversary. It was the perfect spot. Even though it’s only a 45 minute drive from our house, we felt like we were a million miles away. Beautiful water. Friendly people. Within walking distance of restaurants and shops. We will definitely return.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful time. Relaxing
- 4/5
Quiet, and clean. Couple next door might be owners or management? Very friendly. The only negative comment is the bed was uncomfortable, otherwise its a pleasure.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed everything about this stay.
- 5/5
Anglers Inn was the perfect hotel for our weekend getaway. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. The room was adorable, very clean, comfortable and equipped with all the necessities. The private back patio was so peaceful and perfect for relaxing. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful checking us in along with our small dog. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Janette and Michael were awesome!! The room was so adorable and very clean. The water was literally 25 feet from back screen enclosed porch. Very nice and cozy! Loved it! Easiest check in and easy to unload straight to the door.
- 5/5
Great location overlooking the mangrove canal and walking distance to local restaurants for both dinner and breakfast. Room had everything we needed and we really enjoyed sitting outside watching the pelicans!
- 5/5
One night stay. Host was friendly and service was prompt. Lovely relaxing place.
- 5/5
I loved this property! It was so clean and relaxing!
- 5/5
I needed to unplug and hang out with my large breed dog and I did just that. I highly recommend to anyone who likes peace and quiet with the interest of fishing Short walking distance to the restaurants and nice dog friendly park where I got to dip my feet in the water. It’s a Very simple room with all the amenities but if I was at the room, I was mostly hanging outside in the screen in patio watching the pelicans, watching me, watching them (lol) Very nice owner on site.
- 5/5
Fantastic stay at the Angler’s Inn. The accommodation is immaculately clean, the bed is incredibly comfortable and the rooms go straight out onto a dock with ample seating. There are also bikes that guests can use. We didn’t as the weather was horrendous with torrential rain, but that didn’t spoil our stay. Jeanette and Michael were so friendly and helpful making recommendations of places to eat, things to see and do. They were also very accommodating with arranging an early check in for us as we had an activity planned on the island before normal check in and wanted to be able to change clothes. Thanks once again Jeanette and Michael for an incredible stay.
- 4/5
Wonderful location and room! I know they are still recovering from bad storms, so the only thing lacking was a place to hang clothes. But they said they are working on closets.
- 5/5
Great place if you want to kick back and fish.
- 5/5
This place is a gem! Quirky and quaint with friendly hosts. We were just passing through for one night, but I wish it could have been more. The bed was comfy, the decorations beachy/artsy, and I really loved the screen porch and the canal. We took a kayak out in the bay and walked to a nearby restaurant. The area has been hit hard by hurricanes, but the community is working hard to keep its identity. I felt happy to be a tiny part of that.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed the vibe in Matlacha and this was the perfect place for us to stay. The
- 5/5
Pleasantly surprised at just how cute this was and very clean. Everything needed was provided. And to have a full lanai and be able to walk out back and fish!!! What a dream. Definitely will go back and help the economy continue to improve the area to recover from the hurricane. Love Matlacha and Angler’s Inn.
- 1/5
When the owner was contacted she was very rude and refused to listen to any concerns.
- 5/5
Excellent location and room! We enjoyed sitting out on the deck/dock in the morning with our tea watching an osprey family nearby. We had everything in our room to be comfortable and to make our own meals or a short walk for area restaurants.

I love this stay - what a cute place and it is clean neat and anything you need is at hand.

Well stocked with kitchen supplies. Clean, comfortable bed, owner on site. Awesome location. I would definitely stay here again,
- 5/5
Very quaint tropical motel. It's all brand new since the hurricane. The owners live next door. The rooms sit on a canal. Little shops and Blu Dog restaurant are walking distance away. A nice place to stay.
- 5/5
This was our first time to this area. We only had one night but wished for more. The Anglers Inn was the perfect choice. They have kayaks and bikes to use, a very clean and comfortable place to stay and fishing right out back.
- 5/5
I love this place and janette even let me check in early,I just wish it didn’t rain for my one night so I could of even went fishing out the back door
- 5/5
Great place to sleep for a night on comfortable beds, watch birds / drink coffee in the morning and explore Matlacha and Pine Island.

The property is brand new. Everything in the room was brand new, clean. The kitchenette was perfect. A good-sized fridge with freezer. Bed was comfortable. Very quiet neighborhood. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Very impressive for a quick weekend getaway. Walking to the park, shopping, dining was great. Relaxing on the screened in patio was relaxing. We'll definetly return again
- 5/5
Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Host is very friendly and helpful. Island feel.
- 5/5
Check-in was very easy. The place was super cute inside and exactly like the pictures. Very quiet and the bay was beautiful.
- 5/5
The rooms were even nicer than they looked in pictures. The screened porch looking over the canal was charming and it was nice to sit out there and watch the fish jump. Location is convenient and management is friendly.
- 5/5
Our trip was fantastic. Your Inn was perfect for us. The location was just right to walk into Matlacha for breakfast and shopping. You have done an amazing job in getting things back together again. I would suggest taking the automotion light off automatic in the kitchen and putting a low light on the porch for evenings. We loved the decor and were very comfortable.
- 2/5
I liked that this property was on the water. However, there was no dock, and the ac in the room took 4 hours to cool down, which only cooled one area of the room. We needed to use our own personal fan to stay cool at night. There was so stove in the room, hotel description mentioned an induction cooktop, which was no where to be found.
- 5/5
My mom and I stayed just one night and got there around 9pm. I let the owner know we were coming in later and she was quick to respond through text with the door code and all we needed to get checked in and left the lights on for us. It was a beautiful room that was newly renovated and I think not quite finished in some instances (no handles on kitchen and bathroom cabinets yet), But everything else was great. The twin bed listed on hotels.com was not a twin bed…it was a pull out twin couch and was decently comfortable! When we woke up we had a wonderful surprise with a huge, screened in back porch with privacy from the neighbors. The back of the place backed up to a water way and we enjoyed all the wildlife and the beautiful sunrise and drank our coffee which was provided. We enjoyed our stay very much and wanted to sit on the porch longer in the morning, but check out was 10ish. Great little place! Nice and responsive owner!
- 5/5
We have stayed here before and love being on the channel. The patio is quiet and provides a great area for watching wildlife. The rooms are quaint and since Ian, have been updated without losing their charm. Easy check in and close to amenities. We would highly recommend Angler's Inn in Matlacha.
- 5/5
Beautiful room.
- 5/5
What a charming place to stay! Our suite the Red fish room was perfect. Great size, spotless and well equipped. After the devastation from the hurricane it's been so tragic for this community to build up again. We had supper at the Blue Dog which was awesome. We were happy to support this community get back on its feet. The people are lovely
- 5/5
Recently remodeled, close to water, very good dining close by
- 5/5
A great place in a great location!
- 5/5
This place is somewhere you would have to visit more than once. I had so much fun on this island and loved my room. Thank you to all the wonderful people I met I hope to see everyone again real soon.
- 5/5
The owner was awesome and very helpful. Beautiful spot!
- 3/5
This is a very small like 5 room building and there is no office. A friendly tenant told me the owner lived next door and went to get her. The inside was brand new and immaculate. However, the area is still struggling with the aftermath of the hurricane from last fall and there is no grass and no dock like in the picture, just dirt. The wifi was spotty and I took a cold shower in the am. I stayed for one night on business. There is a cute coffee/ breakfast shop within walking distance. The closest restaurants were jam packed which is helping the economy.
- 5/5
We had a great experience at Anglers. The rooms were newly remodeled and everything was bright and cheerful. A great value in the area.
- 5/5
My wife and very much enjoyed sitting in the screened in patio area, as it sits right along the canal were we saw all kinds of birds and fish jumping out of the water.. The owner lives right next door and is one of the nicest people we have met. She made check in a breeze, let us know what was in the area to do and what places to eat (Blue Dog was absolutely AMAZING). If you are looking for a place to stay and see this as an option, consider yourself lucky and book ASAP!
- 1/5
Could. It get to the place do to storm damage so did stay
- 4/5
The room was cute and clean. We loved the island feel and proximity to shops and restaurants. We particularly appreciated the warm welcome we received from a local covering for the owner on the day we arrived, and the responsiveness of the owner before and during our stay - she's awesome!
- 5/5
Janette the owner is great and very down to earth. This is our second stay here and we will still definitely be back.
- 4/5
One night stay to check out the island. Quaint little place, definitely shows its age, but it was a pleasant stay.

she didn't initially acknowledge our service dog and wanted to charge and she just wasn't friendly when we wanted to check out the room before renting
- 5/5
This is a four unit inn. The owner Janette was very friendly, welcoming, and very informative about the area. She provided kayaks and bicycles if you chose to use them. It was quiet and peaceful. You can fish right off the dock just outside your unit. The unit was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The cottage was very nice. Tv, micro, frig, AC, coffee maker were great. Screened in porch dockside was nice. Great location for walking to shops and wonderful restaurants (Berts, BBQ, Blue Dog). Quiet, clean, convenient. Fishing guide picked us up by our door.
- 5/5
It is very hard to find old, quaint Florida accommodations that are also very nice and well kept up. Angler's fits this bill perfectly
- 5/5
The room was so comfortable, clean and super pet friendly. Janette was really cool and offered kayaks, fishing poles and bikes. Everything to see and eat was literally around the corner. Beautiful place ,host amd area. I would reccomend Anglers Inn to everyone heading to Matlacha.
- 5/5
Great location! Very relaxing!
- 4/5
This is a fisherman's Botel and unique for the area. Army Veteran Owner Janette very helpful and works hard cleaning and running the place by herself. Have stayed there multiple times. The Perfect Cup breakfast is just down the street.

Clean. Great hostess. Accommodating. Pretty friendly. As expected for the area. TV didn't work.
- 4/5
Old style motel that sets you back in time. Great location would definitely come again. Thanks!
- 3/5
Very short stay. Location was great. The pull out couch was uncomfortable. The room had a strange smell, maybe cleaning solution. It was nice having a large fridge and full kitchen. Staff was great.
- 5/5
This was a great place to stay and put you in touch with old Florida. You can walk to everything. It was clean and fully stocked with necessities to make a comfortable stay.
- 5/5
Very relaxing..
- 4/5
Nice, quiet cottage right on a canal. Issues with the TV, but if you’re not a watcher, this is a good place to stay and relax.
- 4/5
Pretty place in a unique little town. Property is dated, but so are we! Actually, it's charming, and we much prefer places like this one to chain hotels. The only thing I would suggest for improvement is another small trash can so the bathroom and kitchen areas would each have their own. Bathroom amenities were fine but the kitchen coffee was only about 1/3 full, and the sugar container was almost empty. If you know people will be using that room, they should be filled. Everything else was nice and we would definitely return if we were in the area again. Loved being able to sit outside next to the canal and watch all the pelicans. Seemed to be a safe and quiet area, easily walkable from galleries and restaurants very close by. Beautiful sunset across the street.
- 4/5
Deck right on the water. Small shower.
- 5/5
Everything about this town is 1970’s shabby hippie. This place is no exception. However the owner is very nice and does her best keeping it clean. We loved the fact that you step out the back lanai and you are on the deck overlooking the canal with its hedge of mangroves for privacy and you can sit and have a cup of coffee and watch the birds sunning themselves. Anhingas, pelicans, warblers and osprey all within east view. Great for bird lovers like us!
- 4/5
What a cute place! Loved having the canal just outside our door. Well be back!
- 5/5
Great place to stay. We enjoyed our time there Our only regret is not staying longer. We will definitely stay here when we return.
- 5/5
We had a great time. The room was very clean and cozy. We only stayed one night so we didn't get to explore the area, but we will definitely be back. Really enjoyed the Lanai and the fishing dock out back. Met another couple out by the fire pit and enjoyed their company while sitting around the fire and having a glass of wine. The town is quite lovely. Very quaint fishing village with plenty of shops and restaurants. Would love to come back with our boat sometime in the near future. The area is terrific for boating, fishing and kyacking. Very spacious room with an adorable kitchenette. Air conditioner worked great! Loved watching the birdsfly around and the fish jumping in the canal. Very reasonably priced.
- 5/5
I loved the dock area in the back. Pelicans and other birds nesting right behind the property, it was very lovely to watch. The area was so peaceful and quiet. We loved our stay and will definitely be back,
- 3/5
Some things were broken, like the light switch on the bathroom and an outlet in the kitchen was not working. The proximity to other neighbors and the fact they speak loud in the morning made it a bit unpleasant. Nevertheless, I would go back
- 1/5
The room was not clean it smelled very musty like a damp rag. The blankets on the beds were not very clean. There was a roll away bed in the room with dirty sheets on it. The toilet was not very clean and all of the bath towels were wet and smelled musty as well. The air conditioner was not working and we ended up not staying. There was no one around the property to ask for assistance.
- 3/5
The unit is clean but tired and old. Could use alot of updating…I only stayed one night and it was fine but would not recommend for a vacation stay.
- 5/5
What a great find! This place is so wonderful. The owner is personable and cares about her guests. The area is delightful and everyone is so friendly! Can’t wait to go back next year!
- 5/5
The room was very cozy, clean, and convenient to all the shops and restaurants. The view of the canal and the pelicans were so amazing! Loved having our own lani where we could sit and enjoy a glass of wine. We will definitely be back for another visit!
- 5/5
Great little place. Nice size room. Dolphin in the canal. Screened back porch needs a roof
- 3/5
We got to the room at about 9:30 PM. The heater/AC didn't work right. The unit didn't blow heat, only blew the air around and it was cold that night. The unit made a racket when it was on so we turned it off. It was cold and there was only a light weight cover/blanket on the bed. We didn't know who to to call as the owner was not available. We only needed a place to sleep but with low temps and no heat that didn't happen. We cut our trip short and headed home.
- 4/5
Old style Florida motel with Keys style decor. Stayed for 2 nights and walked to shopping and dining. Lots of wildlife out the back door. Everything in the room worked very well. The only cons were that the outside screen room had missing screens and the TV was too small for the room. The owner Janette was a delight.
- 5/5
Nobody was in the office when we got there, one of the neighbors called her and then told us how to get into the room we were booked for. Beautiful view from the dock. In the morning we were setting in the lanai, enjoying the cooler weather when one of the other guests came out and lit up a cigarette which chased us away. We would definitely stay again! (Just hope for no smoking neighbors)
- 3/5
An older property that could use a little TLC but if you want a place close to fishing this is for you.
- 5/5
Quaint, sweet rooms on a canal. Manager was very nice and helpful. Will definitely stay there again!

Perfect location to walk to restaurants and shops. The kids loved being able to fish out the back door as well as on the kayaks. We'll be back.

Very quaint and close to everything. Definitely will stay here again.

This is a great place to immerse yourself in old Florida vibes. Nice mangroves to look at, boat dock, easy stroll to shops and food in old Matlacha, and a great hostess!
- 5/5
This is such a quaint and cute place. We docked our boat right outside our room. It is an older place, so dont expect 5 star, but if you are looking for cute and endearing, right on the water, this is it. Owner was very helpful anytime we needed anything. We will be back.
- 5/5
So clean and cute! Great location. Jeanette is wonderful. Texted us letting us know we could check in early. Customer service and cleanliness A ! We’ll be back!
- 5/5
Great place! Will return again.....Jeanette was very accomodating dealing with boat & trailer. All the visitors & residents made the 5 days a true vacation.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the hospitality and friendly atmosphere at The Angler Inn. We had our morning coffee out on the dock, right out the back door!
- 5/5
Such a wonderful place !!!!!! Best place to stay in SW Florida !!!!!!

The accommodations were very cute and comfortable. I loved the screened porch and direct access to the dock. You could walk to many spots to eat.

What a charming place in a perfect location. I loved everything about it, even its wonkiness. We were able to walk everywhere, the covered lanai was a perfect place to relax and enjoy take out dinner. I’m already planning a return visit.
