Ocean Plaza Motel

The beach was under construction during our stay, which certainly wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but the crew worked around the clock making it hard to sleep sometimes. Had to go to the desk & trade our dirty towels for clean ones, they don’t provide housekeeping services or bring clean towels to the room. Not a bad place, just wanted something cheap on the beach & that’s what we got

It's not a hotel it's a motel, with people living there, the office was closed upon our arrival so we had to walk down to another motel to get our reservations. The rooms were terrible, the sheets and bed spread were old and dingy the bathroom had rust stains everywhere the tub was stopped up, from trying to take a shower. The indoor pool was dirty, the outside pool was full of the residents that stay in the motel. I will never go back! The vending machines were not on nor working. The elevators were nasty, just all around terrible...

Junky old typical Myrtle beach hotel. Advertises as motel but it is in no way shape or form a motel. Beware there’s a $50 resort fee (laughable) when you check in. I’d keep looking.

It was close to the beach and restaurants. The room was clean. They had a nice indoor pool and hot tubs.

Didn't like that my stove in my room wasn't assembled for us to make any food and the bottom of the wall piece around the bottom of the room behind TV and by outside door inside wasn't connected to the wall.

The Internet in room was missing.The TV only got cable. The coffee was not refilled. The front desk closed at 10pm and no one was present. The snack machine is broken. IIt was to much money for a ocean view. Also the beach was being rebuilted the entire week. I would skip it next timet

The location was in a good spot. I loved the stove and how we were able to cook. The staff was very friendly. When we needed extra towels or etc, they were there quickly. The look of the room was okay. It could use some upgrades. The toilet kept running sometimes. It was extremely terrible, but it wasn't it's best.

One of the lady’s we had for house keeping was great but the girl I had to check in with should not be running the front desk. I sat there for 30 minutes waiting on her to check me in as she saw me standing and waiting for her, thank goodness a family came in who was somewhat loud and then I finally got service AFTER them when I waited for 30 minutes and then when I was trying to check in I was confused on the 21-24 age rule and she proceeded to snap at me so of course I also got snappy back. But from the times I went in and out other office staff members was great from the little bit I heard from walking thru. I would absolutely stay here again I just hope next time I get a different office member!

I would highly recommend not staying at this motel. This is the most nasty motel and I have pictures to prove it. My daughter ended up sick and now she has a doctor appointment with her doctor. I will be reaching out to the head office of Expedia about this motel. Worst vacation ever. This was our last vacation with our son before he goes off to college and I kept apologizing to my kids about the motel room and the nasty pools and hot tubs. Never again will I stay at this motel again.

The room was nice and clean. Easy access to the beach. Was a little bummed the pools/hot tubs weren't open later (closed at 10pm) and housekeeping only came once. Overall was a good stay and would stay again!

I was told I had to pay an extra charge. Then when I fot to the room, the phone fell apart when I picked up the receiver, there is only 2 lights in the room and one was not working and the TV remote did not work for the TV. I had to ask 3 different times on 2 different days before anything was fixed and I received any fresh linen.

Clean the bathroom

Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the management. A police officer was at my door. Someone had called 911 to alert the police someone was trying to break into my room while I was sleeping. There is No one at the office in the evening. And no sight of security. I did go to the office and reported it. I was told they would let management know. Noone ever reached out to me.

The indoor pool was awesome! The keys and the doorknobs. The keys to the doors were giving us trouble and I had to actually screw in one of the screws to the deadbolt on one of my doors. And the water pressure In The shower sucked. And there were no plug ins except beside the TV and behind the bed which wasn't useable. For the amount I paid it was decent value though. Would I stay again? Probably not but if you want something cheap priced I'd say it's definitely a decent stay.

I like the motel it was clean. The beach view is out of this world.. Kitchen was nice... Just the fact of it being a 7 floor motel where the elevator only went up to the 6th floor.

The room was perfect for my kids and I. The staff was very helpful upon arrival and accommodated every need we had including more towels, etc. The room was very clean. Would absolutely recommend staying here as it is budget friendly and a perfect location. We had an ocean front room and enjoyed the view. Will be staying here again on our next trip.

The front desk staff told us that because we made the booking through the third party she could not give us room with ocean view although several ocean view rooms were available and she asked us to pay additional $54 per room if we wanted to switch to the ocean view room again because she said "we booked the rooms through the 3rd party" and I totally disliked that kind of comment from her. Nothing The place is a slum, didn't realize that dumps like this still existed on the beach. It was nasty, dinghy, all kinds of shady activities and people around, elevator door looked like piss rusted stall doors, on n on I can't find the words to accurately describe this hell hole. I wouldn't stay here for free. They'd have to pay me to stay here. O n I didn't mention I didn't get the room I paid for n one other small detail - they made us stay at their "sister location" the Polynesian because ocean plaza was being repaired but didn't look any better. And the staff didn't care or offer refund. Stay away from here

Wasn’t satisfied at all, the pictures on the site are definitely photoshopped to hide the aged and worn property and furniture. This place was absolutely disgusting and outdated and in need of renovations like last year. Guest service at check in was rude and not even at the hotel that I booked but at the neighboring hotel the Polynesian they charge a $100 dollar cash incidental fee the pools hot tubs, vending machines elevators all nasty and outdated the only thing decent about this place is the location definitely dissatisfied and will never patronize this property again!!!

Very nice staff , room was spacious ,3 beds kitchen stove utensils everything provided . Indoor pool was dirty but big hot tub was nice and hot outdoor pool water looked dirty as well but overall nice stay for a decent price .

The Motel exceeded our expectations, so much so that w when we go back next year, we hope there are rooms available again. Dishes, oven, fridge, microwave, made the experience better. The 2 minute walk to the beach is always a plus. Great stay

BEACH VIEW WAS AMAZING. parking is tight or go down a STEAP hill tova one floor garage. Indoor pool was freezing. Only one hot tub worked. Polynesian pool didnt work so all them quest was at ocean plaza. It was just a mess!! Stove just smoked and wouldnt get hot. Caled for towels and rags, they said they were gonna send some never got them. Seen a house keeper on the floor so asked her for some along with some toilet paper. And she claimed "oh i dont have any of those items" so i made ia trip to walmart.

Patio door non working, We were there Monday through Friday and they didn't come and vaccume or do any house work at all not even take trash out, but they did give us more thrash bags and towels when needed had to go to front desk and ask.They didn't give us the codes to the pool area and indoor pools till the morning we were leaving which they should have give us when we checked in Monday.Oh and the parking area kinda sucked to.

I love the shower. Fantastic water pressure!!! Good for my back. Was placed on the first floor. Made it easy to get to my car and to get the bike out to ride. Price for the week was reasonable as well. The hot tubs weren't hot. Warm at best.

There was a lot of drug use the room, itself was clean but nothing else. All staff were very rude except Jazmine. The managers were rude there were hidden fees. My biggest complaint was feeling unsafe with people around on meth and weed smoke coming into my room the whole trip from next door and my air conditioner. It was right next to the ocean but we got pulled out in a rip tide and there is no life guard. I suggest paying 10$ more a night and moving up the coast a mile closer to the ferris wheel and public beach with lifeguard. Hopefully they are less over run with drugs and dirty and bad service. But the whole beach downtown area has a feel of drug use to it and there are a lot of people homeless which I am used to where I live, but for some reason it felt less safe here...

The floor in the room was dirty, the tub and toilet had stains and looked like they had just been sprayed out and not cleaned. The only good thing about the room was that thankfully the bed was clean and nice to sleep on. The elevator sounds like one wrong move and it’ll collapse. The outside is dirty and looks like it hasn’t been taken care of. The pool hasn’t been cleaned in who knows how long and I had to pull trash and cigarette buds out of the pool even tho you can’t smoke around the pool. The access to the pool was confusing but at least the access to the beach was easy to use. All in all this place was too expensive for what it is. I guess they can charge whatever since it’s on the beach.

There is no ice available in the building you have to go to the hotelnext door nothing telling you that and the staff don't tell u till u ask about ice bc the machine they have is broken and snack machines are nasty. Our door was broken blanket had cigarette holes in it this was our 3rd year here and definitely our last

When we arrived we had a check in at the other hotel we were never told that the elevator did not work so for the first day and a half had to climb four flights of stairs which made a very difficult since I just had knee injections done the outside condition of the building was horrendous the pool was Green I don't believe I would stay there again I would definitely find a different place

We did not feel like we were in a dangerous place, as we have in other places. Beach access very easy, right out gate at pool. With a little care on your own part, you can stay & enjoy the ocean and beach. You get what you pay for...

The stay was great. My family and mom enjoyed the stay. Loved being that close to the beach and having access to two pools. The room itself was nice despite the small bathroom and hardly any water pressure. Overall would stay again.

Room smelled terrible. One chair, no table, tv would get louder without messing with volume. Gates to pool and out to ocean wouldn’t open. No working ice machine. Most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Asked front desk to call maintenance twice but acted as if it wasn’t a big deal. The list goes on. Would never recommend this place

Old motel that is dirty and run down. But the price is best for easy access to beach and in area of all good things to do. So just a bed that allows some sleep between running around is good. If you can’t deal with crappy bed and beat up facilities, not for you. But if you can, it’s easy in and out to beach and food and fun all around in five ten minutes without blowing your money on the stay it’s nice.

The room was clean and that was good but the building was soooo run down and not appealing. None of the pop machines worked.&all ice machines were just stting on bottom floor completely rusted and none worked. We had to fix toilet every other flush. There was 1 out of 4 front desk ppl that was GREAT THE REST BEYOND RUDE.. I needed change for the laundrY however she was on her cell talking badly about her boss and working there grab the dollars out of my hand and said "what do you want with this" ssid quarters for laundry and she went rigjt back to talking on call..never said ty..nothing. i am handicapped on the 3rd day someone parked in HP spot with NOthing stating she was HP. not right nor legal..i said have her towed she has no visible means of being HP.i said she said she should ve towed she told me i was not allowed to smoke IN MY CAR OUTSIDE IN A PARKING LOT. So i never got a HP spot rest of my stay. so NO SMOKING I SIDE OR OUT was their rule FINE we will follow it no problem the entire Motel smelled like weed everytime we walked out...the whole pool area were smokers...smoked weed outside and sharing while kids were screaming and runnin thru all the smoke..full.ashtrays on balcony tables hmmm? My sliding door didnt even have glass in the frame so it took 2 ppl too open and shut it. Had 2 washers/2 dryers..only 1 wash worked and neither dryer worked so we had to find laundomat to dry our clothes after we washed. 4 burners on stove only 1 worked. Wouldnt stay there again.

Booked a room for 1 night. Check in was at 4PM. When I arrived, Front desk advised me thst they were still cleaning the room & was not sure what room they were going to place me in. Didn’t think of it as a big deal. When I came back to get my room. The front desk was closed and could not even get into my room. Had to go across the street to pay for another room. One of the doors in my room was broken and so were some of the drawers. Tub couldve been cleaner and more sturdy. Other than that loved the stay.

Staff were very rude. Room was not ready at check-in time. Rooms were clean i guess. No coordination between staff. We left early it was so bad and dont even care about the redund.

Our side view room was pretty good, the only complaint was the air conditioning was not as great as we needed. Other than that, housekeeping brought towels and toiletries everyday!! Check in was pretty fast and easy, and since we used our debit card for the room the security deposit was waived. Upon getting here I read the reviews and was nervous about our stay. But honestly it was perfect for our family and we would come back again for sure!

The view was amazing, our room was really clean. Sliding glass door was hard to open to the balcony. The VIEW absolutely loved it! The atm was out of service so I had to walk at 2 am to nearest atm for the 100.00 key deposit for third party booking.

Ocean Plaza Motel was a great place to enjoy our stay as a family. There were some great places to grab breakfast or a quick bite to eat. Everything was within walking distance. The rooms were completely clean and tidy. The staff provided excellent security, such as check-in and information about the person staying. I'm aware that we need to be patient, for example, to get on the elevator and find out where our room is.

I liked the room we had because we were able to be in a separate area and the kids had their own space as well. If looking for that try to get room 108. The only thing was the service waiting in line forever they don't offer u any towels. Deposit is 100$ cash make sure u have that. And the water and toilet took forever to kinda operate other than that it was alright for what it was.

The property could be cleaned and updated . There is corrosion in the bathrooms and showers . You can’t check out until 9am until a manager arrives to receive your deposit back . A couple waited hours to check out just to receive their deposit . They do NOT enforce rules . Overall a terrible and unclean experience.

A horrible hotel! Had to park several blocks away in their “ overflow parking, that was an un-mowed vacant lot covered in weeds. The ice machine and vending machines didn’t work. The carpet was in horrid condition. All of the common areas were in awful shape but not nearly as bad as the elevator.

the lady at the front desk the younger one was SO RUDE. very unprofessional and rude. she also gave another family a key to the room i was staying in! someone was unlocking the door as i was getting ready and showed me the key with my room number on it. very unsafe and concerning how the front desk could be so negligent. wont be staying here again.

This is the worst hotel on the strip of South Myrtle Beach. Went to check in walked it unsafe unsanitary no elevator in the pictures are outdated like six years.

We got check in 2 hours later than we were suppose to, despite us being there on time for check in. It was posted on a white board behind the front desk that if you were under 21, there was no need for a $100 deposit, however, my friend who is 20 was required to as well. I’m no professional but in my opinion this building was not up to code. Many injury risks and very gross. The room smelt musty, the ac was not in the wall all the way and was leaking into the pool below. We were told we were being upgraded to an ocean front room however our view was the pool and a bush with little view of the ocean. Not to mention, while in the room, I stepped on a piece of broken glass. The floors in the halls were all torn up and left guests at risk for tripping and falling

Great price for last minute vacation, however the front desk resceptionist was very rude. The room had poor cleaning, the floor felt sticky and there was nold on the lamp shade, the bed was very nice but the walls, ceiling, floor, mold felt very unclean.

Once I arrived I was put in a room where the door didn’t close the tv didn’t work and where security had obviously been a problem in order to get a room with a proper working door at least I had to pay the difference which was 200 dollars just to have to walk up to the 7th floor the elevator felt like it was about to fall

There is no staff working in this motel, if u need assistance you have to go to the next door motel.The outdoor pool was very dirty, the night light in pool didn’t work so you can’t swim when it’s dark. I stayed 4 nights and none of the days did they clean my room or replace towels. I asked reception multiple times to clean my room and it never happened. A male employee approached my 11 yr old and asked her for her name and how old she was. This made my daughter uncomfortable because he was looking at her body up and down.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone

If you're a smoker this place is for you. (even though it's a non-smoking facility) Mostly cigarettes smell everywhere. People smoked in hot tubs and put them out leaving them around perimeter of tub(s) Lots of them....Hot tubs didn't work well. We kept room doors closed and air on but still was very wet causing the grunge to expose itself to the feel.... Oh well...you get what you pay for... we went cheaply...

To not fault of there own, the pool has set hours, so the access to the beach is closed until the pool opens. So you have to walk to a public access point.

We get there the office is closed we had to walk next door to check in. They give us a room that smelt like wet dog and just felt like things were crawling. The 1 ice machine they had was broke you had to go to the hotel next door to get ice. Beach access was thru next door as well

We have been coming here for years. This is the first time that we've been there in about two years and it's significantly went downhill. There was water damage to a lot of the property. Our door didn't even stay latched when we shut it because the door frame was broken. The carpets were completely filthy. If you walked on them with bare feet, your feet turned black and they were constantly wet. They should have been replaced a few years ago. pools were dingy and not cleaned.

The place was disgusting. The pictures are not what the property shows. I would not recommend this place to anybody. It should be condemned.

Check in took a long time. They took $100 deposit in cash, and it was returned on check out. Room was small and cramped. Good location within short walk to the beach.

As of 9/2024. We found cockroaches in our room! Also, the property is in terrible physical condition. I am surprised it could pass any type of inspection. The owners should either make a major investment in updating this property or tear it down.

The check in process and check out process needs to be seriously updated. There were probably ten people in line to check in and it takes about twenty minutes per person.

Room smelled like mildew roaches mold housekeeping was horrible
