Reviews
The Renwick Hotel is generally praised for its friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, and convenient location near Grand Central Station. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the size of the rooms, lack of in-room coffee facilities, and issues with air conditioning and heating.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Small room size
- Lack of in-room coffee facilities
- 5/5
The rooms themselves were clean and housekeeping came by daily to refresh the sheets and towels. I would gladly stay at the Renwick again!

The A/C unit in my room gave out on the second night. They
- 5/5
Simple and easy property to use with great proximity to grand central station, etc.
- 5/5
Hotel was nice and in a prime location. Hallways are small but that is to be expected expected in the city. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Room was clean, but ac unit outdated and loud. Whole place feels a bit dark and cramped, though bed and bath are updated and fine! "King room gallery" turned out to face an air shaft. Decent NY hotel room for the price, though as a single woman traveling alone the lobby and restaurant don't appeal.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, very inviting and cozy, room was amazing with unique details. Loved the “do not disturb” paintbrush
- 5/5
The staff was incredible and made my stay even that much better. I had an issue the the AC and they moved me right away. They cleaned the room everyday and had free water in the room everyday. It’s right by grand central so it’s a good location if you need to take a train. The room was fairly spacious which was great considering the location.
- 3/5
Room was old/dingy and dirty. Mirror was stained, floors were weathered and chipping, windows were filthy, furniture was stained. Bar is nice. Location is good.
- 1/5
Shortly afterwards, I began experiencing significant irritation to my airways and eyes, accompanied by persistent coughing and heart palpitations. The symptoms were severe enough to disrupt the remainder of our evening and caused considerable distress. Given that ozone exposure can pose health risks, I am extremely concerned that guests could be placed in a room containing such equipment without any warning, signage, or confirmation that the room was safe for occupancy. What was equally disappointing was the response from the member of staff when we reported the issue and requested a room change. Rather than treating the matter seriously, the staff member appeared unconcerned and stated, "Hmm, I think the one next door is clean, let me know if it is or not." This response was unprofessional and gave the impression that room safety checks were not being carried out properly before guests were allocated rooms. I find it unacceptable that: We were assigned a room containing equipment that may have adversely affected our health. No warning or explanation was provided regarding the machine. The staff member handling the situation appeared indifferent to issue
- 2/5
The Staff was unfriendly, not helpful at all. It seemed like we were bothering them. No doorman to help us with the luggage. We’ll never stay there again!
- 5/5
First time staying at The Renwick. Found on Expedia and selected because of the neighborhood (we like midtown east), the cost (affordable on dates when our regular hotels were priced out of site) and favorable reviews. Couldn’t have been happier. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (more on that below). The room was right sized, well-appointed and very clean. The AC was effective and quiet. Every review has to have one negative… the included morning coffee wasn’t great but there’s a cafe right next door to fix that issue. The staff; two examples - when I returned from next door with two coffees, Jose was mopping the floor in front of the elevators. He saw me coming and stopped mopping so he could hold the elevator for me. So kind. On our way out, another staff member (sorry I didn’t get his name) engaged us in conversation. We told him we were heading out for breakfast and told him where we were planning to go. He said that was nice but suggested an alternative and then walked up 40th street with us to point us in the right direction. So helpful and his suggestion turned out to be perfect for us. Every staff member greeted us when we saw them and not some perfunctory “hi.” Highly recommend The Renwick.
- 5/5
Our room had a/c issues but the manager on staff moved us to a larger room. The complimentary was a big plus. Rooms and building is pretty well maintained. There’s also a lounge/ restaurant on property which I wanted to checkout, pretty good ambiance but my teen daughter was traveling with me…maybe next time.

Great hotel. Safe area. Nice staff. Very clean.

Nice accommodations. Very helpful staff. Good location within walking distance of many notable landmarks.

Very cute and clean place. People super friendly. Great location

This proprety is well located, has large bedrooms and is very clean. Would recommend.

The staff were super nice and helpful! Hotel was clean, and the room was spacious. Would stay here again!

- 5/5
Beautiful place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff and clean rooms. Bar is amazing! Would definitely stay here for future trips.
- 5/5
Great and thank you for the early checkin.
- 1/5
The attached bar was very nice, with a good variety of specialty drinks. My wife had a dozen bed bug bites from their beds. We found a dead one on our second day, after reporting to the staff they moved us up a floor. More bites appeared, and we found a live one in the new room. Left early, and was told to email to be compensated. Haven’t received anything back from The Renwick.

- 4.5/5
Location, friendly, comfy bed, relaxed, quiet The elevators took a while.
- 2.5/5
Location, staff, room size A/C failed in our room on a brutally hot night/morning, necessitating a room change. Both elevators were out for a time, one was back working shortly thereafter

- 5/5
I liked the location of this hotel a block and a half from Grand Central Station. Super easy subway access to everything, great walkability, close coffee shops and restaurants. Staff were SO nice and helpful. Room was nicely appointed, comfortable bed and pillows. Recommend!
- 5/5
10/10, would stay there again.
- 3/5
Don't stay here if you need air conditioning. It was 90 degrees outside and nearly as warm in the rooms (we had 2 rooms). It was pretty miserable.
- 5/5
The hotel was lovely. Great location. The room was clean. Had a suite and couldn’t believe we had scored with such a good room and so much space No complaints
- 4.5/5
Great location. Room was small but this is NYC so that was not unexpected. Bed was comfortable and there were no street sounds and never heard another guest. The view was non-existent but we weren't here for that. Overall a very pleasant stay and we would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
We -thoroughly- enjoyed our stay! The room was well put together and modern-retro. Great AC for ultimate comfort, good space to move around. The fine decor details stood out and were a great extra touch. Bed was very comfortable! All of the staff were lovely and helpful, and the bartenders in the lounge were wonderful to talk to. They also made getting to the airport extremely easy for us! We will definitely stay here again if we make back to NYC.
- 5/5
Quiet room. Well maintained property with excellent service.

- 5/5
We loved this hotel, it definitely embodied the bohemian and creative history it was apart of. We would highly recommend it. The rooms were spacious and well maintained.
- 3/5
My biggest issue with the hotel was that there was no security to access the guest room floors. Anyone could walk in off the street and get on an elevator without a room key.
- 2/5
4 days later we call to see why our card was charged to then be told of extra fees? No one said anything about extra fees when we checked in and we weren’t even given an invoice at check out. The person put us on hold almost 15 minutes then hung up, called back and asked for a manager, we were transferred to a full mailbox. Been trying to call for over 45 min and no answer. Beyond unacceptable, no professionalism whatsoever and no customer support at all. Really disappointing. When we finally reached someone over an hour later we were told yes it’s busy so my colleague hung and was going to call you back. What a joke honestly. Safe to say will definitely never stay here again or recommend this place.
- 5/5
A wonderful boutique hotel! Very clean, cozy, and welcoming. The staff was friendly and made me feel right at home. I would happily stay here again.
- 0.5/5
Terrible service at front desk. Person who gets the bag made me get my own bag from the back room & was very rude & unprofessional.

Superb
- 4/5
Great location, few min from Grand Central Station. Staff real helpful with any questions. Good price.
- 2/5
My room had a running toilet, terrible paint and scuff marks all around the room as if someone painted over the imperfections instead of actually fixing the problems. Stained carpet. Shower floor felt like sand paper on my feet. The room was tiny and full of cosmetic issues. $300 per night by the way.
- 5/5
The hotel is located perfectly, close to everything and accessible. The staff were very nice and helpful with everything. We got upgraded to a bigger room and enjoyed our time very much.

The room was very spacious for NYC and for the most part clean, there was just definitely some questionable stains on a couple areas of the desk and the bathroom but overall a good experience! Staff were helpful with storage luggage for the day after and the bar connected to the hotel is absolutely amazing!! Beautiful aesthetics all around
- 4/5
Very good
- 4.5/5
Location and cleanliness I need a higher floor so I don't hear the Saturday night party in the bar.
- 4/5
the location was fantastic, easy access to the Metro and Times Square. Lots of food options in the local area. The staff were friendly and super helpful. Sadly I didn't get to try the hotel restaurant but the menu looked lovely. The carpets could have been a tad bit cleaner, but I'm knit picking here.
- 3/5
The room was relatively clean. I had to call the front desk about the towels though- I am not sure if someone forgot to switch them out or what, but there were makeup stains on them. They also cleaned my room without my consent which I was dissapointed about. However, the front desk staff were all very kind and courteous! When I told them about the towels, they immediately sent up new ones
- 5/5
We had a great time! Excellent location, good room size, clean. I would recommend it.
- 5/5
Great location and friendly staff. Was a good price compared to the typical chain hotels.
- 5/5
Exquisite!!! Amazing staff and cozy hotel. Great location too!
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay! The property was perfect, the staff was friendly and the location was our favorite location we have ever stayed at in NYC, Highly recommend!

MATERESS WAS WAY TOO SOFT

The stuffs are very friendly and helpful
- 4/5
Very beautiful and spacious for the weekend!
- 5/5
Great location, clean well appointed rooms. Appreciate the free morning coffee and water.
- 3/5
Air con / heating was broken at check in and overnight and they couldn’t fix it. They did move us to a new room the next day, but doesn’t take away from the fact that we had to spend one night of a two night stay without heating. Thankfully the weather was only slightly chilly so we could sleep with sweaters on.
- 4/5
2 Free bottles of water is nice, coffee is nice add on the rest is average but good. Probably won’t come back in the near future, but who knows..
- 5/5
Beautiful room. Will request higher floor next time for a better view.
- 5/5
Loved there was an ice machine.
- 3/5
I am very surprised at the rating for this hotel. Every single surface needs to be wiped (Scrubbed) down. Every single wall was dirty. When we arrived the towels in our room were also dirty, they are clearly stained and used, but above that… they were crusty. We got new towels, still stained but not crusty. The bathroom is molding, from the top down ( no circulation of air). And the dog museum across the street had a neon flashing sign that made our room glow and flash neurotic colors all night.
- 3/5
For a 4 star hotel I'm surprised that this wasn't a place I liked.
- 5/5
It was the perfect stay for one night in the city!
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
5min walk to Grand central, 7 mins to NYC public library, various restaurants and cafes literally next door. The Remick is the place to stay enjoy free coffee in the morning and a speak easy lounge bar and restaurant at night. Planning my next visit!
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay had a great night sleep clean room comfortable bed. Location is close to Broadway which I needed. Everything is pretty much within the walking distance.
- 5/5
Great experience!
- 5/5
Out of all the times, I’ve been to New York city, this by far was my favorite hotel so far. It is quaint and modern, and everyone was so nice and helpful, just a wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Stayed in a suite with my parents. It was quiet, clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Location is central with lots of good places for good food.
- 4/5
Our room was very clean and comfortable. We felt safe and did not notice a lot of outside noise. The lobby could/should be spruced up.
- 5/5
The room was clean well laid and I loved the design. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
Affordable and comfortable place to stay in NYC. My mom and I stayed just one night. The front desk staff were great! Love the decor.
- 5/5
Was upgraded from queen to king sized bed after a very long day of traveling they were able to get us in quick
- 4/5
The room was ok, not particularly updated. There wasn’t any wash cloths or hand towels. We had to request. The windows were dirty. Didn’t appear well dusted. The next day our room wasn’t made up or refreshed with clean towels, etc. Evidently the “brush” hanging on the door was facing wrong way even though the maid asked if we wanted service. Had to ask for towels twice to get more than just bath towels. The staff was very nice, other than the guy monitoring the coffee table making sure no one got a muffin without paying. The bar had music playing so loud you couldn’t converse without yelling. The coffee was good & appreciated the length of service.
- 1/5
AC did not work and could not be fixed. No alternatives were provided. STAY AWAY.
- 5/5
All good.
- 2/5
The second room was also not very clean. The body wash container in the bathroom was diluted with water, which was disappointing and made the room feel poorly maintained. Overall, the staff tried to help, but the hotel itself feels quite old and outdated. In my opinion, it feels more like a 3-star hotel rather than the advertised 4 stars.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 4/5
Comfortable bed, shower head was a little wonky, and no restaurant open while we were there.
- 3/5
I like the location. Room was clean. Excellent quality of sheets. No coffee or tea in the room. No hot water in my shower. Friendly and helpful staff who let me access my room before 4 pm check out.
- 4/5
The Renwick is a well appointed historical hotel near Grand Central. It is super easy to get to and is in a nice neighborhood with many quality restaurants. The front desk staff was adequate, not particularly friendly or engaging, while efficient. They didn’t offer any information about various amenities or their location within the hotel at check in or otherwise. At one point, we tried to tip the bellman for handling bags and he had disappeared. The cleaning staff were genial. We couldn’t figure out what the paintbrush on the door was for - do not disturb, clean, other?? We put the paintbrush out and ended up getting service which is exactly opposite of what we wanted. The cleanliness of the room was mediocre - the shower REALLY needed to be scrubbed, as did the door trim around the bathroom door. While the basics were clean, the room hadn’t been deeply cleaned in a while. The room was large, quiet and comfortable. We will probably consider the Renwick again if we need to have 2 queen beds for the location convenience and the room size. Of it’s just 2 of us, we will consider other hotels nearby. Giving a 4 rating - liked the quiet neighborhood and quirkiness of a historic boutique hotel, cleanliness and friendliness/basic information about the hotel an amenities could be improved.
- 3/5
The AC was not working in our room. We told the front desk about it before we left for the day and they said someone was going to go fix it. No one ever did and the room felt very stuffy and warm. Had to take multiple showers to cool off. There didnt seem to be any urgency to fix the issue and the staff didn’t apologize or try to accommodate us in any way. However the room was very clean, bed was comfortable and location is nice.
- 5/5
We really appreciated our room. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. The only small thing missing for us was a coffee machine in the room. Would’ve loved a morning cup without heading out down to the lobby, but that’s truly the only note. Overall, a great stay!
- 4/5
A convenient location for this hotel. Easy access to the subway and other landmarks.
- 5/5
Clean room, nice staff, convenient location, very enjoyable stay.
- 5/5
The rooms are nice and clean. Well laid out
- 3/5
clean room, lovely staff, not as updated, pricey for what you get, much better options for similar price
- 5/5
Great location. Clean room with great shower.
- 3/5
Some of the staff were great, some were extremely ambivalent. It was extremely frustrating to have to wait for a deep feathered room upon arrival after having requested it three or four times in messages prior to our arrival. It made us late to our event. Additionally, the Wi-Fi is terrible and there's no option for high speed. The room was well decorated the sheets were clean. The towels were fine, the bathroom was clean.
- 4/5
I recently stayed at the Hotel Renwick and had a very enjoyable experience overall. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Grand Central and close to many restaurants and attractions. The rooms were stylish, clean, and comfortable, with a unique artistic design that gave the hotel character. Staff members were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the room was a bit smaller than expected and street noise could be heard at night. Still, I would definitely stay here again for a future trip to Manhattan.
- 5/5
Great location and good room layout
- 5/5
First time at the Renwick and I'm coming back!
- 3/5
The rooms themselves are tiny, extremely noisy in terms of the building/pipes/aircon etc, the ‘gym’ isn’t a gym… staff were ok nothing special Overall the price didn’t match the hotel which is the reason for the low score. If you’re from the UK this hotel is similar to a travelodge.
- 4/5
Staff was very nice and accomodating. Re-roomed me as the room was not quite to spec on arrival. Thermostat didn't work and room got rather warm ovenight, did not sleep great. Bed comfy and nice room for the area.
- 5/5
The room was clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was within walking distance from most locations in midtown and to Grand Central for easy access to the rest of the city.
- 4/5
not enough towels for a couple to take a shower, I was not aware that breakfast was available, but overall it was a decent hotel
- 2/5
Under no circumstances should you accept a room on the second floor. Since I didn't know this beforehand, I ended up accepting one; it is practically at street level, and the windows seem as if they are wide open because of all the noise that comes in. It was impossible to sleep throughout the weekend. The receptionist was incredibly rude when I asked if I could switch rooms. I do not recommend it. Perhaps if I had stayed on a higher floor, I would have had a different experience, but mine was terrible.
- 3/5
The rooms seemed clean including the bathroom and linens. The terrace was disgusting. We opened the blinds and the door to see a ton of garbage on our terrace- seemed like empty bottles of drinks and other garbage and rusty equipment. Should not be advertised as a terrace and it should be cleaned if guests can open blinds and be exposed to the horrible condition of the terrace.
- 5/5
This place is really nice and the room was great for our stay in NYC. It's near central station and it was very easy to walk to Times Square. Great place to stay at!
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
great hotel. very well priced especially for the quality of room
- 5/5
Hotel is in a convenient location and is very comfortable. Would stay here again.
- 2/5
Our visit to the hotel lounge and bar added to our frustration. When we requested a table, the hostess made no effort to seat us properly and instead suggested we sit at the bar. This was dismissive and inhospitable — a response entirely unbecoming of a hotel at this level.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay for a weekend trip to NYC. Comfortable, clean and friendly hotel very close to Grand Central and 4-5-6 subways. Easy walk to Broadway theaters and most anywhere in midtown. Great home base, very comfortable beds and quiet at night!
- 5/5
Love the Renwick! Ideally located two blocks from Grand Central, 15 minute walk to Bryant Park and 30 minute walk to MoMA and Theatre District. Staff are great, it’s clean and modern. Plus there’s a fun bar attached to it for a nightcap.
- 5/5
Very friendly, 2 blocks to grand central, great boutique feel
- 4/5
Quieter rooms on the higher floors. We moved from our third floor front facing room due to street noise. Reusable water bottles can be refilled in basement gym. No need to pack shampoo, conditioner or moisturizer; all provided. Grab dinner and sit at beautiful Bryant Park to eat. Walk 15 mins to 34st Ferry and take East River (ER) to DUMBO and see Brooklyn Heights. Take Burough Hall subway back (express) to Grand Central Station.
- 4/5
Feel the destination charges and paying for water is expensive. Otherwise all was okay.
- 5/5
I was really impressed with The Renwick. It exceeded my expectations honestly. It was relatively reasonably priced and the room was larger than most NY hotel rooms, with a super comfortable king size bed. The free coffee in the morning was great. The staff were friendly. The location was convenient and walkable. I’d definitely stay again.
- 4/5
The staff was super kind and helpful. I thought the hotel was cute and comfy. The room was a little rundown, but still super clean and the bed was super comfy. I would definitely stay here again.
- 1/5
The 2nd floor was extremely noisy because of the bar below. Extremely loud music till 1-2AM. The hotel did not remediate how bad our experience was.
- 4/5
Location is excellent.
- 3/5
Very loud location walls do not block out noise. Can not control air conditioning for the room its preset.
- 5/5
We loved this hotel. We will definitely be back soon. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Room was very comfortable.
- 3/5
It's not bad of a hotel. The room I was in was very dark and small and debatable if its worth the price to me. It was clean. The hotel should offer better parking options, nearby parking is 30-50$ while this hotel charged 85-95$ which is not accomadating to guests.
- 4/5
Great coffee! The rigs in the room need to be replaced. Good location
- 4/5
Clean room, good size and lovely staff. Very nice cocktail bar attached also.
- 3/5
Rather mediocre hotel. Rooms are dated. Gym is tiny. I would not return.
- 5/5
Great location, updated rooms
- 3/5
Unfortunately our beds were on the soft side which wasn’t comfortable, the TV wouldn’t work all the time and would get very glitchy for minutes at a time and the worst part was that there were street lights RIGHT outside our window and the curtains were not setup to completely close so it was so bright all night it was so frustrating.
- 2/5
Check in at 4, gym was quite small, and needed it some renovations
- 5/5
Very good ! Rooms are clean! Staff very nice and helpful
- 1/5
Checked in on a Friday afternoon - first room they gave me had not been cleaned. Went to the front desk and was placed in a different room - no AC, clogged sink, holes in the curtains. Disgusting. Went to the front desk and waited 20+ minutes for a manager, who said they would refund me and I could book somewhere else. It has now been two weeks and I have not received a refund, and they will not answer any emails. DO NOT STAY HERE!
- 4/5
Staff was awesome and location is great. Rooms are a good size and I will be staying there again for sure!
- 5/5
Lovely classic, yet updated, New York hotel! Friendly staff
- 5/5
Room was extremely clean and staff was very helpful!
- 5/5
front stuff needs to be more friendly
- 5/5
Stylish room, comfortable bed, modern bathroom. The only complaint we had was the loud banging of the elevator doors every few minutes. Free coffee was very good - breakfast not included. The area was nice, safe, quiet, and conveniently located. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
Great staff. Friendly. Nice rooms.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel. Clean room and friendly staff (which is rare for NYC).
- 4/5
The property is as described.
- 5/5
Front desk person was very helpful and friendly answered all of our questions.
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
I hope the hotel had restaurant open for breakfast.
- 5/5
Good value new Grand Central
- 5/5
we really enjoyed our stay & will definitely book again for our next visit!
- 5/5
Great!
- 1/5
The housekeeping team took my dirty clothes and all my medicine and toiletries out of my room halfway through my stay. I complained to the front office manager, who assured me a manager would call me the next day. But no one called and my things are still missing.

This property was a nightmare. Dirty bathroom, broken shower, leaking toilet, dirty floors. Even after requesting assistance it still wasn’t fixed. Wish we’d gotten honest reviews from other travelers. The bathroom was so tiny and unkempt. For the price there is no excuse.
- 5/5
Amazing staff and just an overall fantastic experience!
- 5/5
Excellent! Very close to everything but far enough away that you don’t feel overwhelmed with the crazy!
- 3/5
Also, I understand it was a Friday night, but the soundproofing was non-existent. I had to deal with loud music from downstairs until past 2 AM. While the location is great, I’d recommend spending a bit more to stay at a well-known hotel chain instead. Definitely not worth the price."
- 5/5
The property was clean, staff was amazing, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Sofa bed room worked out great for us, traveling with a teen. Quiet, clean, plenty of space.
- 5/5
Wonderful location.
- 5/5
The ambiance when you walk in is welcoming. The staff was generous and so helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfy! They checked on us but also gave us space which was wonderful. I will be staying here from now on in NYC
- 5/5
My partner and I stayed here Valentines Day weekend. Great location, just a few minute walk to Grand Central station. The decorations in the room are modern and lighthearted, nice vibe. We had an especially nice experience in the restaurant with a waitress who made us feel very welcome both before we headed to our Broadway play and again afterwards when we stopped by for a nightcap. It was really a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
Underwhelming overall.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay. The location was perfect. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The room was nice and met our needs. The bathroom was small in the suite. The coffee supplies were the only thing I would say were not up to par.
- 2/5
No breakfast. Just coffee.
- 3/5
Water shower temperature could be better
- 5/5
We were only here for one night. It is in a great location. The room was spacious enough for three people with two queen beds. Bathroom was larger than expected. Everything worked and was clean. Free water bottles available. Staff at check in desk were kind and helpful. I can't think of anything that wasn't good!
- 5/5
Our go to New York City hotel! Excellent location, wonderful staff, great value, clean and comfortable rooms! We stayed at the Renwick before so we were excited to stay again. This stay exceeded our expectations and cemented the Renwick as our favorite hotel in the city!
- 5/5
We stayed here the night for our anniversary beautiful hotel rooms are very nice and perfect location walking distance to everything definitely would come back.
- 5/5
Such an amazing hotel!! This is now going to always be my go to in ny! Excellent location and amazing rooms!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is cute!
- 5/5
There is no breakfast but do have free tea/coffee in the mornings. Staff all super friendly and happy to help. Hotel was in a perfect area for us to explore the city. Overall cleanliness of rooms was disappointing. Stains on carpet and walls, with bathroom needing updated due to mould in grout parts of the shower. Even found a previous customers sock between the bed and air con.
- 5/5
Great stay and great locations and comfy bed
- 3/5
Starting with the good: convenient location, nice room (direct view of the Empire State Building), free coffee in the mornings, most staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, our stay didn't end well. We asked reception if they could order a taxi for us to the airport (as it's not impossible for foreigners to use the app for this) and were quoted the regulated price. To our surprise, at the agreed time a standard car showed up instead of a taxi. While this already wasn't what we agreed on, things got weirder as we noticed the driver discussing a kickback from our trip - probably explaining why we didn't get a taxi as requested. Not necessarily a problem on its own, but it felt like we didn't get what we asked for for personal gain. To make things worse, when we said we would pay by card, we were told we had to pay more then - not something that would have happened with a taxi and felt both unfair and dodgy. As the cherry on the cake, there was no tip option below 25% / couldn't enter a custom amount - while this is an epidemic in the US, it felt especially ridiculous as we were already paying more than what was agreed and how much the taxi's regulated price would have been.
- 5/5
Room was well maintained. Bathroom clean upon arrival. Staff were courteous and helpful throughout
- 1/5
There are no amenities and the resort fee list literally just an insult because-we-can fee to people who make the poor decision to stay here. Save your money and select a hotel that tries to earn your business without shafting you at every turn.
- 5/5
Very gracious staff would highly recommend…. Location location location!!
- 5/5
Staff was nice and professional, room was compact, but clean and neat. There is no accommodating breakfast, they only offer tea and coffee for free.
- 4/5
Very nice staff but rooms could use a renno to expand bathroom size and update some things to match price
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and although we didn’t eat in the hotel, the restaurant and bar was always busy which is a good sign. If we’re visiting again, we’d definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Wonderful. No coffee machines in the room.
- 4/5
I could hear a little bit neighbors when they were entering or exiting the room eg the door to the corridor is not well soundproofed. Other than that it was pretty quiet. I was on the 15th floor and elevator could be a bit of a wait in bus times. Overall good experience and would definitely be back.
- 3/5
Hotel is really showing age. Overall was in need of a re-remodel.
- 5/5
I loved staying at the Renwick! The location was perfect to go to all the places we were planning to see. The room was perfect, and the staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Great
- 2/5
Nothing
- 4/5
We arrived early and the front desk staff had a room ready. We had a 1-bedroom suite with a pull out couch for our daughter. We asked for additional blankets for the bed and a kettle to make tea in the morning and both items were brought up quickly. The staff was great! The room was clean, but some areas a little worn (scuffed walls - minor cosmetics, etc). The central location is perfect - easy to get around town and close to shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend!
- 4/5
The room was clean. The house keeping staff weren’t consistent with putting the room together each day. The staff were helpful when ever asked for anything.
- 5/5
It was a hotel. There was a lot of miscommunication prior to arrival which I didn’t like. Don’t offer me upgrades, approve them and then take them away. The room was basic and I don’t know that I will stay here again. It is in a great location though
- 5/5
Great hotel, in the perfect location to take in all that New York City has to offer.
- 4/5
Staff very helpful and kind.
- 5/5
Location was perfect.
- 5/5
Room was great, very quiet, larger than expected! Only thing to make better would be an in-room coffee maker - going down for coffee in the morning isn't my preference.
- 5/5
Place rocks! Highly recommend!
- 2/5
Not great. Staff a little clueless. First room had people already staying in it, so serious security breach with no real understanding by staff. 2nd room had piles of dirty towels, open food and drink. 3rd room (where we ended up sleeping) had a fridge full of food and dust everywhere. I wish we’d just left after the 2nd room
- 3/5
The sheets were stained. There was no “do not disturb” sign and they never brought one, so housekeeping kept knocking on my door. The reservation was prepaid, but they still charged me an extra destination fee.
- 5/5
Considerate staff and good location. Room was clean, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and quiet. Great value!
- 5/5
Clean room great staff.
- 5/5
Customer service
- 5/5
The room was lovely, clean and a great location. Above all the staff were absolutely amazing and so helpful
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
Great location. Comfy beds and amazing housekeeping ladies!
- 4/5
Staff was courteous.
- 5/5
Room was clean, quiet, very lovely with a patio i wish i could use, but will come again in the spring to take advantage of
- 4/5
Not sure it’s quite a 4 star though. But no real complaints.
- 5/5
Absolutely the largest hotel rooms in NYC for the money.
- 4/5
Staff
- 5/5
Room is very clean and spacious. Great location close to public transit
- 4/5
The room was very clean. We had a view from the 10th floor of the top of the Empire State Building. Loved the area right around the hotel too. It was quiet and cool. As far as the “bar” that was part of the hotel, it was very cool but outrageous in price even for NYC! Other than that we were very satisfied and would recommend this historic boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Everything Was great
- 4/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Large room (by NYC standards), clean, modern. Free coffee/tea in the lobby each morning was a nice touch. Easy check-in/check-out. Will definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in the city.
- 3/5
The TV channels could have been more updated with streaming options and extra channels for those who love to stay inside and enjoy the hotel room. My only issue is the valet parking. I was told at check in since I have a standard size vehicle that the nightly rate would be $75. When I checked out they charged $85 per night, and when I asked about it , I was told a manager has to get involved when they clearly had the description of what size vehicles cost what on the backboard behind their desk. Now I’ve been calling repeatedly about my refund and I’m getting no answer . Overall this is why I give it a 3.5.
- 5/5
Room was spotless
- 5/5
Friendly staff, great bar, and very clean.
- 2/5
Soap and body wash not provided
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, great location. Fun bar!
- 5/5
Rooms were clean and much bigger than expected! The location is excellent- so easy to get anywhere in Manhattan from Grand Central, and so many iconic places within walking distance. This was my second time staying here and won't be my last!
- 5/5
Great location, staff and hotel.
- 4/5
Clean and staff was wonderful. A bit noisy location and the bathroom was cold compared to the rest of the room. The water bottles were too difficult to open.
- 2/5
Our room was also positioned right above the bar and you could hear the thumping music past midnight. As well as every sound from our neighbors or those in the hallway. In the early am you could also hear loud construction like noises coming from the hallway. There also wasn't an option for a card on the outside door handle for sleeping/room service. We were woken up by knocking in the morning although we decided to sleep in. These are just a few examples why i wouldn't recommend the hotel to others or return myself.
- 5/5
This was an awesome place and so easy to get around NYC given its proximity to Grand Central.
- 5/5
Really excellent hotel. The room was incredibly spacious and had all the regular amenities. The staff were kind and responsive. Thanks for an excellent stay. I’ll be back!
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay! The hotel has nice charm, the staff was extremely friendly, and our room was cozy and comfy. Great spot for exploring the city and not a far walk from the train station. We had great access to a lot of the main tourist sites but we weren’t in the thick of the tourist buzz.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved our stay here! The staff were so welcoming, and the room was fantastic!
- 4/5
Staff very accommodating, friendly.
- 5/5
Great location, clean, friendly staff! Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and price was great for NYC. I will stay there again.
- 5/5
Check in was smooth, hotel was clean. The two queen bed room was a little bit bigger than expected which was nice.
- 5/5
Room and bathroom were clean, spacious, and nicely designed. Hotel itself is small and has a lovely intimate feel. We had issues with heating in the first room we were given and had to be firm in our request for a different room. However, in the end, the staff was gracious about it and looked out for us. Neighborhood is quiet and residential, away from the hubbub but central to many sites and transit. We plan to stay there again.
- 5/5
Staff was great! Thank you so much! We enjoyed our stay! Perfect location for our plans
- 5/5
Friendly accommodating staff and the room was totally fine. Close to Grand Central.
- 4/5
Neutral: There’s a resort fee given the location of the hotel. Pretty standard for the area. The not so great: The standard room is basic, with little to no space between the desk, chair and the bed. Not as quiet as described either, we could hear everything going on in the hallway and out on the street. The shower really needed to be cleaned better and had build up on the shower heads along with build up behind the shampoo, conditioner and soap bottles. The WiFi had no connectivity at all. Between the lack of WiFi, tight desk space in the room and lack of office/conference area this hotel is not an ideal place to get work done. Then to top it off we were less than fortunate enough to be in our room while they were working on the alarms for about an hour — it was very frustrating especially without any heads up. We would have expected signage or an advisory notice about the scheduled maintenance upon check-in or via text since they have an existing system in place to text guests for check-in/check-out.
- 4/5
Comfortable
- 4/5
Easy check in, nice room
- 3/5
The room was
- 5/5
One of my favorite hotels in NYC Great location, friendly and helpful staff, and clean rooms. Highly recommend.
- 3/5
I have stayed at the Renwick before and frankly my prior experience was better. This time I ended up with a room that had a bathroom sink maybe 8 inches by 12 inches making it very difficult to use.The room had no view and was a short distance from a brick wall of another building and back alley. Also the service was much more personal last time. They even greeted you by name when entering and exiting. And this time you had to carry your own bags to the room. I dont believe that was the case last time. Decent location, ok price and comfortable bed with decent shower. Otherwise ok.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing the venue was awesome I would definitely stay again!
- 4/5
The staff was courteous. We wish we had a somewhat larger which would have made it more appealing to hang out in.
- 5/5
Excellent staff, beautiful rooms! Thank you again for the memorable stay.
- 5/5
Great location and good size room at a good price. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Cozy, spacious, well located. One of the best hotels I've stayed at in NYC.
- 5/5
Room was very clean and looked up to par
- 5/5
Great location. Lovely Boutique hotel. Very clean and staff very friendly, helpful.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room, great amenities, and a central location without being too loud or touristy. Love it here!
- 5/5
Just at the front desk helped us check in and was so friendly! Was not expecting to have a balcony, that was a pleasant surprise. Room was very large compared to other NYC rooms I’ve been to. Service was amazing. Asked for extra pillows and they were delivered in less than 10 mins. Free drinking water in the rooms. Beds were very comfortable. Quiet location within walking distance of a lot. Grand central is right around the corner for the subway.
- 2/5
About 30 minutes later we went back up to the counter and got in line (at this point quite a few people were waiting for their rooms which also weren't ready). They had no idea about anyone checking on the status of our room??? When we finally got to our room (elevators are awful and expect waiting times during busy hours) they seemed decent - except one room did not have working thermostat and this is December so we were freezing. We told front desk and someone showed up and fixed it; however, it broke again the next morning. We told front staff again and they sent someone different to fix it. He said if it breaks again we'd have to be moved rooms (but front desk told us the hotel was fully booked). Sure enough, it broke again 15 mins after the gentleman left. We spent the next two days/nights freezing and wearing multiple layers to bed. The front desk offered us a space heater which we rejected for safety reasons. On our second day exploring we returned to a note slipped under our door stating there would be no housekeeping due to staff shortage. Also, drain didn't work.
- 5/5
Modern design is great and staff was very friendly. Room was small, but well appointed
- 5/5
Tea and coffee are available for those who enjoy them (though it’s not quite my cup of tea). The hotel also offers convenient access to both a bar and a gym, which was a nice bonus. Considering its location in the heart of Manhattan—close to Times Square, Grand Central, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and many other attractions—the value for the price was exceptional. It truly felt like I received more than I expected. I would confidently recommend choosing The Renwick.
- 5/5
The property was well maintained and clean
- 4/5
Spacious room in great location, but some dirty smears on the wall and trash left in mini fridge
- 5/5
Lovey hotel, nice cozy vibe. Great location
- 5/5
We had a great experience, the room was clean and comfortable, and every interaction with the staff was very pleasant. It is a great location, since it is quite, but a very short walk to subway and few restaurants.
- 5/5
Staff was great, room was nice and quiet. We loved the restaurant/bar downstairs!
- 2/5
There was no bedding in the room for the sofa bed. We phoned 3 times to get it sent up to us but it took 3 hours. We eventually got the bedding at 11.30pm, we’d been travelling from UK so we’re really tired. Absolutely not good enough!!
- 5/5
The location was perfect, only two blocks from Grand Central Station. A short walk to anywhere of interest to us. The staff was professional, kind, and courteous. It was a great value, I felt like we should’ve paid more for what we got, but was glad we didn’t have to. I highly recommend this hotel, and will stay here again on my next trip to New York.
- 5/5
View of the Empire State Building while lying in bed was an unexpected bonus. Complementary tea and coffee in the morning was welcomed as was the bottled Water in room water in the room. We utilised the baggage storage before check in and after check out. It was seamless and very useful. We would definitely stay again if visiting New York and would recommend to friends and family.
- 5/5
No complaints! It was a wonderful stay. Room was clean, customer service was super nice and we loved how convenient the hotel was in the city- we will be back again!
- 5/5
This is a great hotel...staff, rooms, location, etc
- 3/5
Cons: No coffee maker, bathrobes or some of the standard items you'd expect from a $400 a night room. Heater wasn't working so they brought space heater. Front desk doesn't communicate well or follow thru on requests. The manager did call me & apologized for miscommunications. Had a nice stay in Mid Town
- 5/5
Very cool historical property that honors it with theming. We loved the artistic touches in the lobby and rooms. Room was a good size for NYC, very comfortable beds and a quiet area. Easily walkable to many areas. Staff was responsive and helpful. Would stay again.
- 4/5
Checked in and the floor was very obviously not vacuumed. Visible debris everywhere. Told the front desk and she very kindly moved us to another room. The water temperature was wack. Hot one minute, then cold for a minute, then back to hot. Literally had to step out of the water until it got warm enough to get under the spray again. We weren’t there to spend time at the hotel so as far as a place to sleep, it served its purpose. If we had wanted to spend more time at the hotel, I might look elsewhere, but we would stay there again if we found a good price deal. We likely wouldn’t stay at full price, though, as there are other hotels we like better. Overall it was an average to above average stay. We really appreciated that they had complimentary coffee and tea available in the mornings. That was a nice touch. We also really liked that you could walk to Bryant Park in minutes and that we had easy access to train stations. There is also a great bakery/coffee shop next door. We would consider staying there again.
- 3/5
The internet of the hotel was very spotty at best. I couldn't finsh a Zoom call before having to change to my phone's hotspot. Also, there is no modern TV-personal device set-up in the hotel. You can't cast screens or borrow a cable to connect to the device from the font desk. The internet service is really subpar for a 4-star hotel. However, the cleaning staff are good and professional. I liked how clean they maintained the room.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
We were pleased with The Renwick and would stay there again. Proximity to Grand Central Station was a huge plus.
- 4/5
Great staff, very friendly. Nice room, a few random hairs on the bathroom walls from cleaning. It is missing in-room coffee and any literature about the city or any channels about the city.
- 5/5
Rooms and bathrooms were on the large size for NYC. Great location near GCS
- 2/5
Power outages circuits tripped, very nice staff, owners please reinvest profits.
- 5/5
Great location! Housekeeping always turned down our bed and provided fresh towels. The bathroom was big compared to some other hotels we’ve stayed at in NYC. The bed was comfy. We would definitely stay here again!
- 2/5
The first night upon checking in around 2:30 am, my suite was obviously neglected. The baseboards, floors, lamps were all covered in dust. The floors were filthy, sheets and pillows were terrible, shower was not clean and the heat would not turn off. I requested another room and was told I would have to wait until later in the morning because they were full. The next morning I moved my luggage to a family members room and spoke to the manager about the situation and showed her pictures of the room. She told me she would call to discuss the issue and said it didn’t reflect the quality of The Renwick. When I told her about the issue with the heat, she deflected and said we should have called the engineer. Obviously at 3 am we just needed some rest and they did not have any other rooms available according to them. I never received the phone call to discuss the issues. It took multiple calls to even have water brought to the room. When I checked out, still no call from the manager. They offered a 20% discount on the first night only. The replacement room was much nicer, and the area is convenient. However, if you are looking for a quality stay, this is not it.
- 5/5
Great experience
- 2/5
Rooms felt dated and old, room cleanliness was poor. Front staff desk staff was not helpful like I have experienced in other places. We come to NYC every Christmas and this is not a place I would recommend
- 5/5
Great staff! Funky boutique hotel in a perfect location around a ton of NYC amenities!
- 5/5
Room was amazing and spacious for the time visited.
- 1/5
Rat found in our room. AC cooling never cooled our room temperature all the way down. Chair in our room was broken. We would not stay again
- 2/5
The shower water was brown and there was a blood stain on the mattress cover…thankfully we only stayed two nights, i would’ve requested a room switch if I didn’t already set the room up for a Christmas weekend with my partner.
- 5/5
Nice room, excellent staff, great location.
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly! And room was very clean
- 4/5
The staff who greeted me and accomated my early check in were both wonderful and welcoming. The room was very clean and perfect for the 3 of us. I will be returning.
- 5/5
Front desk staff were amazing! Such an incredibly friendly group of people 💖
- 5/5
Friendly service, great location, clean. A great find!
- 4/5
The first night was not that good and the room was noisy, after diacussing with front desk, they arranged us a new room with good level and position.
- 3/5
Cute hotel in a nice location, but our room had some issues related to limited hot water (8-10 mins max), sink clogging issues and the bathroom itself wasn’t very clean. Other than that the staff was friendly and the hotel was stylishly decorated.
- 5/5
Great neurite boutique Hotel close to Grand Central.
- 5/5
Spacious room. Great location.
- 5/5
Was nice. Check in wasn’t so good. I was just asked to tap my card without a proper breakdown of how the deposit works. But otherwise it was fine
- 2/5
the hotel was not nearly as accomodating at the pictures and website assured me it would be. The room was dirty. Our bathtub did not drain. It was slippery because of all of the soap scum that had accumulated because of this from previous guests. They did clean it on our 3rd day. There was no coffee on two consecutive mornings at 8 AM b/c "they haven't come in yet to do the coffee". I would have expected a much better experience for $600 a night. The hotel was quiet that was nice but the room is dated and it was dirty. I was there with my 17 year old daughter and so it was less than ideal. Thanks, Jason
- 5/5
Excellent customer service at The Renwick. Gary, the front desk manager did an amazing job accommodating our family due to airport closures. The service and location are top notch!
- 2/5
The staff is very kind and helpful. However, our room had issues with the heat. It was a frigid night and we had to use a space heater and an extra blanket. The other issue is that the bathtub was not cleaned well. There was hair (shaving stubble) on the side of the tub under the rack where I am assuming someone placed their used razor. Not an awful experience, but definitely fell short of what I was expecting.
- 3/5
The Front Desk staff were not very welcoming. I felt like I was bothering them when we first arrived and had to check our bags. When we returned to check in later, it was the same thing. I had to stand there until they finished chatting and eating before they addressed me. The room had nail holes in the ceiling by the window and the walls had some stains. I do want to acknowledge that bellman and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
I’m perplexed because the hotels location is great. It is incredible close to everything and this is an amazing point. The rooms, however, need a bit more work. The towels did not smell very good the tub was not as clean as expected. Also, actually had a rodent in the room. The only reason why we found out is because at night it was chomping out a bag of chips that we had. It kept making noise all night :( . The other item that I feel needs to be considered is the fact the vibe is great in the restaurant, but the food is not great. I’m not one to write a bad review but I do feel that the hotel needs to know. I think it needs an update.
- 5/5
Spacious room, clean and in a great location.
- 5/5
Friendly staff! Great vibe
- 5/5
Staff was professional and helpful while still being friendly and warm. They genuinely seemed to enjoy helping the hotel guests.
- 5/5
Helpful staff and in a convenient location
- 4/5
Care and service was perfect, however our door had a large space underneath and wasn’t very sound proof because of it.
- 2/5
The staff was very friendly, both during check in and check out - until I got home to find charges I was not told about on my credit card. Not only was I not informed of any resort fees during check in, I had also asked about any additional charges during my check out - and was told there were none, and I was "all set". I understand resort/facility fees - however I've never had a hotel not inform me and also tell me directly there were no charges - only to then charge me after I'd left the property. Attempts to resolve this with the hotel have been unsuccessful; I've been hung up on, sent to voice mail and told "only a manager can help me" - but then no one answers or calls back. First negative review I have ever had to write (and I hate that it's at a hotel I had enjoyed staying at several time before); it is quite disappointing!
- 4/5
Clean room.
- 3/5
We assumed the restaurant that was attached to the hotel was part of the hotel but we were unable to get anything there and apply the hold the hotel had on our credit card. The amount held was absorbent since you couldn’t charge anything to your room. The staff at the restaurant was not very friendly at all. The room was ok. No bells or whistles for sure. The ironing board was broken. The shower flooded onto the bathroom floor when showering. Very limited amenities for sure. We did feel safe there.
- 5/5
Very good
- 3/5
Great location. Room was sorta clean, the shower water was mostly lukewarm. Eventually became hot, but after nearly 15 minutes of running water. Also, the photos show a glass door for the shower, but we had a shower curtain. That was very disappointing.
- 3/5
This was a decent little NYC hotel. Convenient, very little street noise, friendly staff, good complimentary coffee in the mornings. Our room was a little dirty (shaving mirror was streaked with prior occupant’s use, window sills very dusty). The hotel has loud unexplained noises and banging at night, but I live in an old house and that was just a non-irritating quirk. I’d stay here again.
- 5/5
Extremely friendly staff, and a great location
- 5/5
We had stayed here several times before the Pandemic and were happy to see it reopened under new ownership. Just as clean and friendly as ever. And a perfect location
- 5/5
Room was clean and well appointed. Great location! wonderful staff! Will stay again!
- 5/5
Spacious room! The bed is super comfortable! However, I didn’t like that. They don’t have coffee machines in the room and then you have to wake up and go downstairs and get a coffee. It’s kind of inconvenient but other than that Service is great and the staff are super friendly.
- 5/5
Provided drinking water, that is very important
- 4/5
Simple hotel with everything required. Very nice staff. Well located.
- 4/5
Enjoyed property. Staff excellent. House staff needs to check walls and ceiling in rooms
- 5/5
Location was great. Loved the style. Comfortable and clean, and all friendly.
- 4/5
The room was great and very clean. The elevator was super quick and the staff was so so friendly. I did not like to have to go to the basement into the fitness area to fill up my two bottles of water that are supposed to be complimentary. I also never received hand soap for the sink or replacement facecloths. I would absolutely stay here again.
- 2/5
Unfortunately we won’t ever be staying at the renwick again.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms
- 5/5
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms. And such a convenient location. Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
The staff was super friendly and our room was very clean! Our only complaint is the hot water in the shower would only stay hot for about 3 minutes, then get cold and may warm back up. However, we do wish the water was a consistent temperature !
- 5/5
Omg! The friendliest staff ever! Judy was sweet and hospitable, and so was everyone else! Impressed 100%!
- 4/5
The bath tub is EXTREMELY slippery. You should have a non skid shower mat.
- 5/5
Great location. Quiet but so easy and quick to walk to Bryant Park and Times Square. Room was spacious and comfortable and was as pictured. No surprises like some NY hotels! The staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
- 4/5
The hotel was perfect location for grand central and Bryant park… it was just sooo loud, our room overlooked the street and the traffic was very loud like maybe they have very thin windows. But to make the noise levels even worse the construction happening across the street started very early Monday morning like 6am… I had zero sleep on this trip and even stopped to get ear plugs to help :(
- 5/5
Nice design. Love the water bottles. Staffs are extremely helpful and welcoming. Room is clean. Location is superb.
- 5/5
Loved it. We always stay at the Renwick when we are in town. It feels like home. Very clean and comfortable bed
- 4/5
Staff was great, rooms were clean and location was super comfortable. One of our rooms had a strong smell from across the street and the staff made it right quickly moving our room. Thanks to Gary and Jeff!!
- 4/5
Clean, super friendly check in staff, excellent location and nice attached restaurant and bar. One draw back is size and view. We looked right into other people’s windows and the room was especially tiny. We travel to the city a lot and the bathroom was microscopic. However we will stay here again due to it being clean, great location and having just enough space for two people. Plus the staff were very friendly which was a nice perk.
- 5/5
The hotel staff are great. Room immaculate. Bathroom a bit small but not a problem.
- 5/5
The room was great! I took my 18 and 20 year old daughters and they loved the hotel! The loved the asthetic and vibe! The hotel staff was super accommodating. I had so many concerns and issues with this trip but the staff was always helpful….. probably the best front desk staff I have ever encountered. The housekeeping staff was so wonderful! Especially Tina who serviced our floor and room! She needs a raise ! Would 100% stay here again ❤️
- 5/5
Customer service was great. Room was clean and spacious. Trendy and in a great location , central to everything.
- 5/5
Great great staff. Wonderful location. Bar and restaurant on site. Great people working there.
- 5/5
A very smartly modernized hotel with decor that references its history as being a favorite among writers and artists since the late 1920s.
- 5/5
The room was nice and very quiet. And the staff were helpful and pleasant.
- 5/5
Room was spotless. Great time!
- 5/5
Great room - a double queen that was quite large and very quiet. Nice little desk and enough outlets. Very pleasant staff.
- 4/5
Welcoming staff, clean room
- 5/5
Great place to stay! Excelent location!
- 3/5
Weaknesses: no coffee maker in room, no full-length mirror—only a mirror in the bathroom. Not a single picture on wall (which is fine, but odd). Biggest problem we had—Unfortunately was when checking out—the gentleman told us he would call a car service to LGA. We asked how much and he said $65. When the car came to get us the driver said it was $75 only if we paid cash and more for credit card. We told the driver that the hotel told us $65. The driver argued with us. The hotel staff caused a very uncomfortable situation for us with the driver. Honesty would have averted that awful situation with the car service. I wish we had Ubered as we had planned before the hotel offered the service. We are scheduled to stay there again in the spring when we visit again but I am going to cancel and book elsewhere.
- 3/5
Relatively nice hotel. Great location. Very thin walls and can hear ALL of your neighbors’ activities. Bathroom could be cleaner.
- 5/5
Great stay, pleasant staff
- 5/5
Staff was very nice, Lavazza coffee machine was great in the room, boutique style hotel
- 5/5
Well located
- 5/5
The room and clean and staff was very helpful

Exceeded expectations! This will be my go to NYC hotel from now on. Loved the art and decor choices, fabulous staff, super comfy rooms/beds and great location!
- 5/5
Great staff, great location, great everything!
- 5/5
Location was great - walking distance to everything and quiet neighborhood - beds were very comfortable- only complaint is that TV would cut out often from weak or no signal-but but highly recommend
- 4/5
Amazingly kind and friendly staff. The hotel is old and shows some wear and tear, with items in need of replacement. Great place for a solo traveler.
- 5/5
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Nice hotel with complimentary coffee and tea in the morning. Great location, very close to Grand Central. The balcony that’s featured in many pictures is only accessible in certain rooms, not every guest has access to it.
- 5/5
The room was great. If you could get 1 more small chair in there that would be even better. The staff is perfect. Kind, caring and not afraid to talk a little bit.
- 4/5
Would definitely comeback to this property that’s very well located if I may add with a beautiful entry.
- 5/5
The area extremely convenient. There a lot of parking garages in the area
- 3/5
Our stay at The Renwick was OK. We travel to NYC often so we’ve seen a range of hotels and understand that room size is generally small. The Renwick wasn’t the worst and it wasn’t the best place we’ve stayed. The location was great, blocks from Grand Central. Our room was above the bar and we could hear thumping/music into the wee hours on Saturday night. Lots of street noise, too (hard to avoid in NYC but I really noticed it at The Renwick). The pillows were lumpy and the mattress was smushy and sloped to one side. We spend most of our time outside the room in NY but after a long day of walking, it would have been nice to cast from our devices onto the TV but the TV didn’t seem to be connected to Wi-Fi so we were stuck with commercial cable. Nice staff but I don’t think we’ll stay there again.
- 4/5
The staff were great. I forgot a shirt and they are holding onto to so I can pick it up in a few days. I wasn't crazy about the black wiring running over the walls in our room. It didn't look professional.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and polite. Room was spotless. Very comfortable
- 5/5
Wonderful and clean room. Very comfortable. Friendly staff. Excellent location close to Grand Central Station.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful! Rooms and facilites clean. Valet was great for us too!
- 5/5
Good location clean rooms helpful staff
- 4/5
Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, die Lage des Hotel 1 Block von der Grand Central Station entfernt ist perfekt.
- 4/5
Nice safe convenient hotel.
- 4/5
The hotel was nice, very well located and the staff was great. Very nice front desk staff. The room was not so big, but big enough for me and my partner. We had 2 issues with our room, the first one is that the pillows smelled weird, they looked clean, but smelled like sweat. The 2nd issue was the worst, and is that during the day, the smell from possibly a kitchen near the hotel entered the room and it was very potent, even with the windows closed. We didn't report it because we were out during the day, but when we arrived at night we even had to leave the door open for some time to get the odor out. Besides that, everything else went good.
- 5/5
Great size room and bathroom - exceeded expectations. Good location, nice property. Found the internet to be quite slow. Would stay again
- 4/5
The room was not totally clean when I arrived
- 4/5
Staff professional and friendly
- 3/5
The staff was really nice and the hotel is in a good area.
- 3/5
the room it was smallest than the Internet photo
- 5/5
The room was great, clean and well kitted out. we were upgraded to one with a lounge and kitchenette. Very good location near to Grand Central Station. No breakfast but complimentary tea and coffee, plus a bakery a couple of doors down had great croissants.
- 5/5
Very clean and well maintained boutique and historic hotel. Nice midtown location near Grand Central but quiet and a pleasant 15 minute walk from Times Square and Broadway. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Te, Gary and Judy who effortlessly switched our room because we needed a firmer mattress and who discounted our unexpected extra night when our flight was canceled due to the government shutdown.
- 5/5
Great staff very clean room.
- 5/5
This was a jewel of a discovery for those of us who prefer a hotel with some personality and charm. The outside included a multitude of gargoyles, the inside was a dark and dreamy mix of styles that included many tidbits celebrating arts. Very cool bar for a late night conversation or two. The room was much bigger than I have come to expect in NYC and bed was good. Carpet was a bit old and sketchy, but room was very clean and comfortable. Also - FANTASTIC staff, extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely come again.
- 3/5
Everything was "fine," but the stay was bland from accommodations to interactions. We appreciate an older bldg w/ character and history, but the hallways and room had dated carpeting and the light was poor. There was nothing quaint or interesting to speak of -- just a room to lay your head. Staff was helpful but for the price (it was Marathon weekend which probably made things worse), it was not worth $400+ a night for nothing outstanding or with charm.
- 4/5
Very nice no complaints
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was kind and helpful!
- 3/5
Amenities
- 3/5
Given another room (suite) but that was also not suitable as one of the beds was a sofa pullout (I had to pull out myself, matress was thin and uncomfortable) then we had to wait for bedding for several hours (and then chase it up) Made the bed myself. Coffee machine in room but no coffee, milk or sugar? Bathroom was tiny. Next morning thankfully someone else on desk that was helpful and gave us the room I had booked and paid for. After that all was okay to use as a base but nothing exceptional .would not stay again although location is excellent.
- 5/5
I was unable to take advantage of several amenities because of my schedule, but plan to return soon to do so! The room was pleasant and comfortable and the one issue in the bathroom that I mentioned to the desk was appreciated.
- 4/5
Thank you!
- 4/5
Our room was locked near the elevator, which made our sleep uncomfortable due to the noise and constant in and out. Also, 1 mirror in the whole room?
- 5/5
Rooms were somewhat spacious for NYC
- 4/5
Great location, good sized rooms and friendly/helpful staff.
- 5/5
Staff is super warm and welcoming. The location of this hotel is amazing. Walkable to so many great food options. Grand Central just around the corner but not busy or noisy. Will definitely be back to the Renwick! Also to bar attached to the hotel is so Chic! Loved this hotel!
- 5/5
I will most definitely stay here again. It was as close to perfect as you can get.
- 3/5
I feel as though they should let you know at check in that they are putting you in the room directly above the lounge where they play music until 12:30 am on a Tuesday.
- 5/5
EXCELLENT Staff
- 4/5
Everything was great, super friendly staff! The only thing was that the rooms are a little run down/tired.
- 5/5
The Staff is absolutely the best! Every single person we interacted with was professional and kind!
- 4/5
The style is nice. But the room could have been cleaner - needed a good dusting, coffee stains on wall. Bed was lumpy, towels weird non absorbent. No coffee in room. Carpet needed replacing.
- 5/5
Great location and staff always willing to help!
- 5/5
Check in staff very friendly. Excellent location.
- 4/5
Good hotel for taking LIRR to US Open
- 5/5
The Renwick was a great hotel with a wonderful location!
- 4/5
Good value, nice mattress, spacious room but noisy and zero amenities
- 5/5
Friendly staff, easy to get around
- 3/5
In the plus side, I did like location and the hotel was quiet. The staff was friendly even if the amenities were very limited. Will not return.
- 5/5
I cant Wait to come back what a hidden beautiful gem!
- 2/5
Whilst desk staff were personable and friendly when I did deal with them, I was left deeply disappointed by our stay, especially at the price we paid. The room was small and in similar condition to what I'd expect of a basic chain hotel like a days inn. Scuffed walls, stains on carpet, shower not very clean. I had asked twice in writing before we came to stay if it was possible for staff to leave even a simple little note in the room that said Happy Birthday as we were in NYC for my wifes birthday. This request went completely unacknowledged and unfulfilled. I am a first responder and work nights, I had a tough time sleeping and tried to use the convenient online options to extend my check out time but this request went unacknowledged for so long that I could not fall asleep without knowing if it would be accepted or not. Therefore I just gave up and left early so I could try to get home jnstead and grab a few hours of sleep. Lots of extra charges that are not advertised in final price that Expedia gives you so beware of that. Overall it was an OK hotel but for almost $500 a night you could stay at much better hotels in the city.
- 5/5
The location is excellent and the stay was very comfortable.
- 5/5
Room was small like most of this type of NYC hotel but bathroom was large with powerful hot shower and always hot water. We had a small balcony with view of Empire State Building. Never waited more than 1 minute for the lift to or from our floor. All staff were polite and professional, especially front desk. Free coffee in room and also from 7:00am in restaurant, plus pastries to purchase. Our room on 15th floor was generally quiet. Only minor niggle was (when jet-lagged) housekeeping woke us early when pushing a trolley of glass bottles outside the room, then stopping to talk on the radio. Would stay here again, particularly if visiting the east side.
- 5/5
Near grand central and Los Tacos
- 5/5
Loved our 1 N stay, check in was super easy. The staff were Amazingly nice even upgraded us to a suite which was very kind. Used the valet parking at his was our first time and didn’t want to fight for parking and once arrived I did notice a parking garage directly across the street. Room was quiet. There was a restaurant open in the morning for breakfast but did not utilize it. Looked lovely Grand central is 3 min walk it’l was about a 40 min walk to Central Park. Loved everything wpold definitely stay again
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, nicely designed room. Friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
My stay was fabulous! The hotel is so cute. Rooms are spacious, staff are friendly, and it's conveniently located near so many things. I highly recommend.
- 5/5
Perfect for work trips or to be close to the action. Excellent location, slick design and very clean stocked rooms. Will return.
- 5/5
Very pleasant staff
- 4/5
Great location. Comfortable room good service
- 4/5
Great convenient location for Grand Central Station transport links. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was very comfortable, and was clean. Always a bonus when you can adjust the aircon yourself. It is a little tired in places so could do with some improvements, but overall a pleasant stay, and would likely book here again.
- 5/5
The staff was lovely—professional, friendly, and courteous.
- 4/5
Perfect location! Comfy beds, friendly staff & you could see the Empire State Building from our window. Loved our stay!
- 5/5
The room was comfortable, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Judy and Guary.
- 5/5
Nice location. Spacious for NYC hotel room. Very clean. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Pillows were terrible. Nothing to them
- 4/5
Staff was amazing, always helpful and available!!! The bar connected to the hotel on the other hand, was very disappointing!! My wife and I entered through the hotel entrance, sat at the bar and was not even acknowledged for almost 10 mins! The bar was crowded! We got up and left with a very bad taste in our mouth!!!
- 4/5
The area was convenient and just enough odd the beaten path to not be too busy.
- 5/5
Great location, minutes from central station and One Vanderbilt observation deck. Room was clean and well appointed. A mirror in the main room rather than just the bathroom would be nice but other than that it was great.
- 5/5
Ever
- 5/5
Only thing I can mention that is not positive is the dinning area was rented out so we were unable to eat at the hotel. But great spot and we will return
- 3/5
Invest in black out shades
- 5/5
Excellent location for access to Grand Central.
- 5/5
All of the staff members were very nice and accommodating
- 5/5
I've stayed here many times over the years. The staff are the best thing about this place. Also, great location.
- 5/5
Love this place and will stay again!
- 5/5
We stayed close to NYU Langone on purpose, never imagining the hotel would be so beautiful. We stayed in a king suite. I couldn’t recommend the location, the staff, the cleanliness, and the aesthetic more. It really was perfect.
- 5/5
My third stay at The Renwick and I continue to enjoy the friendly staff, cozy rooms and location convenience. It feels like a home away from home. Thank you!
- 5/5
Room was cleaned every day. Service was exceptional. Request were taken care of immediately.
- 5/5
Great space. Close to everything
- 5/5
Clean room, and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Overall, my stay was good. I loved the layout of the room and the unique art pieces. The bed was super comfortable and the staff is very pleasant. I would definitely stay here in the future but as a treat because the incidental fees were a bit pricey for two nights.
- 4/5
Nights are like days, You need to install real curtains and everything will be fine!
- 5/5
Very convenient location, easy in-and-out check-in/check-out (the accommodated my early arrival with ease), nice decor/story with boutique feel, Agency Record (affiliated bar) is great.
- 5/5
Honestly a great place. I loved the hotel and the location
- 5/5
Good food options nearby. Great bar/lounge on the ground level. Complimentary coffee in the morning. Not too busy or fussy
- 5/5
Great area, 10 min walk to Grand Central. Staff was helpful, housekeeping staff were awesome. Large rooms for NYC, and comfy beds.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at The Renwick. The staff were friendly and competent, the location is excellent and the room was large by NY standards. We'll happily stay here again on a future trip!
- 3/5
Widely advertising having a water refilling station, but only having one in the gym in the basement is not honest advertising. Also, advertising giving out unlimited bottles of water - but not replacing them in the room everyday is also inconsistent.
- 4/5
Easy access to Grand Central subway
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Wonderful staff. Hotel is beautiful and in a good location.
- 3/5
We stayed here as the hotels where we usually stay were very expensive due to fashion week and UN conference. Even though we upgraded to a suite, you get what you pay for. No doorman, front desk say “what’s up” versus “welcome to the Renwick…” and generally have a sour attitude. Two tiny elevators, a fairly run down hotel with stained carpets and a 4 square foot bathroom with dust on every surface. This is Manhattan so you pay for location and need to step it up to $600+/night if you want a “nice” hotel. The Renwick is “ok” but would be a 3-star hotel in most other cities.
- 2/5
Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the service. We had let them know ahead of time it was a 40th birthday weekend and when we arrived there was a welcome package in our room which we thought was wonderful- only to have them come up 1 hr later and say they had put it in the wrong room and took it back (no explanation or real apology). There was a mouse in our room and I got a chard of glass in my foot (we had not opened anything with glass and this was within the first 15 minutes in the room so it had not been cleaned properly). As well, we had to call and ask for glasses to be brought up twice, waiting >45 minutes. The gym was incredibly small and cramped (fits 3 people). Overall, it could have been a much better experience service-wise. The hotel is in a good location, has nice design and safe, but definitely could use improvements to service and customer experience.
- 4/5
I love staying at Historic Hotels. This one bordered a little more on rustic than historic. We chose a suite with a pull out couch, but it didn’t have any linens. We had two TVs, but neither had a remote. The shower has leftover curtain rings from an old shower curtain that isn’t in use. Lots of dust on the externally facing power cords. It was an average hotel in a great location.
- 4/5
Great location, wonderful staff, would definitely come back!
- 5/5
It is conveniently located to transportation, many, many restaurants, and every other convenience you would need. Centrally located in Midtown. Great staff.!
- 5/5
Great New York trip due in large to our fantastic experience/stay at The Renwick. Entire staff were more than helpful, and Judy was especially attentive, courteous and professional. This will be our New York hotel for life...
- 5/5
Friendly staff on arrival, we were slightly early for checking in but this wasn’t a problem as we were upgraded to a suite. The room was spacious and clean, housekeeping was excellent, we always stay at the Renwick when in NYC and I couldn’t recommend a better place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square etc. Grand Central is just a couple of blocks away for getting around Manhattan isn’t a problem.
- 3/5
The room was small, soap was empty, overall it was more about the location then the hotel
- 4/5
There wasnt any closet only drawers and no microwave or kettle as we had in other hotels. A lot of construction going around but see that was the case in many areas
- 5/5
We had never stayed at the Renwick before but now it's on our list as a hotel we'd definitely go back to again and again. Loved the quaintness, atmosphere, location. And it smelled AMAZING when you walked in the lobby.
- 5/5
Room was clean and quiet. It’s a cozy, upscale property. Luxury toiletries and Lavazza espresso in the room. The only issue is that I wanted to book a suite with a separate bedroom room but ended up with a junior suite—there weren’t enough photos or a sufficient room description to understand it didn’t have a separate bedroom. Overall highly recommend.
- 5/5
Cozy, artistic hotel with great location! We loved our stay here from the room to the bar downstairs, the staff and the super centric location. Next time in NYC, I will be staying at The Renwick.
- 5/5
The front desk staff were super helpful and cordial. The hotel is well situated in midtown, close to a lot of landmarks and restaurants. The room was surprisingly large and well appointed. Great place to stay.
- 5/5
The room is very basic, but clean. Disliked the shampoo and body wash, smell like Swedish bitter 🤔
- 5/5
Was great for my family, close to where I live and grand central.
- 5/5
The room was very small for 3 people. Also, I thought the age of the hotel made it feel worn.
- 5/5
Well restored historical property. Prime location. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Great location and updated rooms and very helpful staff. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
It was a nice hotel, I wish we had a view instead of a brick wall
- 5/5
This hotel was clean, excellent service, free WiFi, good accessibility to transportation and held our luggage when we arrived early and left late. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
Excellent location, few minutes away from Grand Central Station. Rooms great for families. We have stayed 4 times now - and will be again!
- 5/5
Convenient location, friendly staff, surprisingly large rooms. Pretty and modern decor.
- 5/5
Very close to Grand Central Station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The area was quiet. Restaurant and bar are not associated with the hotel. Several restaurants close by.
- 5/5
From the time we walked in the staff was very friendly and accommodating! Great location and very clean.
- 4/5
Overall, the stay was very nice. The location was great with a lot of walking options, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The bar also served some incredible cocktails! My only gripe is that the room felt a little damp like there was always moisture in the air, so maybe it didn’t have the best ventilation. We did leave the windows cracked for a lot of the time, but bugs kept flying in.
- 3/5
It was a convenient place to stay one night while in the city. The room was dusty, walls with little scuffs, toilet seat was dirty, one of the bath towels had about 5 rips in it. The room had a portable ac that was pulling in burned grill smell from outside at times.
- 5/5
Front desk was very nice and accommodating, the hotel room was very nice and clean, and in a great location!
- 5/5
Excellent location, friendly staff, beautiful room
- 4/5
Good location, very clean, quiet room, comfortable bed and a gym. What more could you ask for in NYC?!
- 5/5
We have stayed at The Renwick, as have several family members, at least 10 times in the last few years. Staff is friendly, accommodating and quick to respond to service requests. Our NYC go-to!
- 5/5
Great peaceful stay!
- 4/5
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Only issue was the blind hung to far away from the window so didn’t block out the sun/ lights from nearby offices. But we were so tired from exploring and the bed was comfy it didn’t bother us for 1 night. If we were to stay in midtown again we’d definitely pick this over the other hotel we stayed in. Was in a nice area of town, the hotel bar was unexpected but hugely welcomed at the end of a busy day! Didn’t allow an early check in unless we paid $75 but we were able to leave luggage and head out.
- 2/5
Rooms are in horrible shape! Do not stay here!
- 4/5
Just the walls and windows were thin and you can hear everything from the street traffic in the morning. Street is quiet at nights.
- 4/5
The toilet bowl is too close to the bathtub. Someone could get hurt if they aren't being careful.
- 5/5
Great location, right next to Grand Central station. Lots of room in a double queen for our family of four.
- 5/5
I read a lot of review before chose this place. And it's awsome. Guys, pleasee choose this one. It's really nice view, staff friendly, clean room, very comfortable. I choose staff
- 5/5
Honestly everything was perfect. Would stay again! Walking distance to subway
- 4/5
Safe, location, and walkable
- 4/5
I really enjoyed the stay
- 5/5
Great location. Clean. Enjoyable in every way.
- 5/5
Great place and I would stay here again. Although the suite layout is a little strange, so I wouldn't pick that again if traveling with more than two people.
- 5/5
Would stay again!
- 5/5

- 5/5
One of the best hotel visits I’ve ever had in NYC. Great staff, great room, super location & great time.
- 5/5
Good value, clean, great location
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel with helpful staff. The room was clean and cute and the gym was more than adequate, with free weights, cardio equipment, and some various medicine balls and resistance bands. They also provide chilled wet face towels with peppermint on them in the gym! The chilled mint towels are the best. Would stay again.
- 4/5
Great hotel for the money. Terrific value for midtown. Walkable to grand central, bryant park and times square. Hotel is on the smaller side, lobby and rooms are more typical "New York" sized spaces, so if you don't like hotels on the cozier side then might not be for you, otherwise great. If you like art, it's a great hotel because there is beautiful art and interesting decor throughout
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
The room was awesome and comfortable. We have stayed here before because it is so close to our Dr at Rockefeller Outpatient Pavilion. We will come again!!
- 4/5
Friendly staff, clean rooms, excellent service. Very affordable and very central to everything. Great water pressure and 2 blocks from Grand Central Station. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Shows, shopping, dining. Valet service added a huge value for us as did not have to worry about parking our car for our 24 hr stop in the city. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Taking my children to New York to celebrate my son's 21st birthday. Wanted a hotel that would serve as the central base for our 5 night stay.
- 5/5
We’re a family of 4 and really enjoyed our stay at the Renwick. It’s located at a very convenient area, a couple blocks from the library, Bryant park, and Grand Central but on a quieter street. The service was great, we really enjoyed the free water and coffee, friendly staff. We got the one bedroom and it was very spacious for our family.
- 5/5
BIG rooms for NYC! Great and friendly staff. A unique place to stay.
- 1/5
We left this hotel early, and we’ve never done that. The room was filthy, as well as the carpet in the halls. Zero dining options and front desk was rude when we asked for water. The location is good, but this hotel needs an extensive overhaul.
- 5/5
Very nice place , bed are so confortable , clean staff very kind and nice
- 5/5
Highly recommended. The staff is ver courteous, with great hotel location!
