Lovely boutique hotel! Would stay here again. Convenient location and free parking!

The experience was old-school class with new school flair. The rooms were clean, neat, and quiet. The food in the downstairs restaurant was delicious, I

Carlton is a very good hotel in a very nice part of Oak Park. But then again all of Oak Park is nice.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, cool historic building! There was some issue with temperature control in the room ( the hotel AC system is a bit antiquated) .

Exceptional
- 4/5
Beautiful and old hotel. The window in my unit was technically not fully able to close but other than that unit was sufficient. Again it’s a beautiful maintained old lobby and hotel. The unit could use a refresher
- 4/5
It's an older nostalgic building in good shape for its age. Two restaurants on site. My only complaint was no coffee in the morning. When i asked if there was coffee available they directed me to Dunkin Doughnuts.
- 5/5
Loved the room and the bar and restaurant off the lobby. Did not like the fact that there was no coffee in the lobby.
- 4/5
Nice neighborhood, adequate room, but don't expect a morning newspaper or anything.
- 3/5
The hotel was clean and nice. However, we got a call on checkout day at 7:40 am which woke us up that we had to move our car by 8 am as they were starting parking lot construction. Why didn’t they tell us when we checked in as they knew then? No directions were given as to where to move the car. We decided to hurry up and check out and when we got to the car at 8 am the lot was almost completely full so construction obviously wasn’t starting at 8 am. In our rush to check out we left a car key fob in the room but didn’t discover this until we were home. I called and asked to have them check the room and no one called back after several hours so I called again. The front desk person said she’d have to talk to the head housekeeper and would have to call back. A few hours went by so my spouse called back and was told they couldn’t find the fob. A message was left for the general manager and was never returned. It’s been 7 days. Partly our fault for leaving in a hurry but a most unpleasant experience. They should have put a notice under our door or left us a phone message as we didn’t use our car all weekend.
- 5/5
Clean, huge room. All was great and Oak Park area is very nice.
- 5/5
Check in was easy, room was clean, it was quiet and location was convenient.
- 5/5
It was a great place to stay. Close to the L to go to downtown Chicago. Nice restaurant right there and shopping nearby.
- 4/5
Impressed with the cost and...
- 4/5
Great location and secure!
- 4/5
The “Elevator” it’s old, we got stuck in it for 45 minutes until fire department was able to open the door. Afterwards the front desk person took the room numbers of the people who got stuck supposedly for the manager to call us to give some sort of apology. We didn’t receive any call or anything for being stuck.
- 5/5
The room was larger than I expected knowing the area the hotel is in. The room also had a kitchenette area with a fridge/freezer, microwave, and bar sink. If I wanted to eat in the room a small dining table was part of the decor. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance along with numerous public transportation options. Parking would be my only concern if the hotel is full as you can not park on the street. There are numerous parking lots, but you never know.
- 4/5
Very easy stay. Clean accommodations. Ease of access. Quite stay.
- 5/5
Its my home away from home whenever I stay in Chicago.
- 5/5
Great spot! Plenty of things within walking distance and easy drive into Chicago.

- 5/5
Wonderful well maintained hotel that reminded me of the Pfister in Milwaukee.. will stay there again...
- 5/5
great location. easy to get to from airports using Orange line. 30 minute CTA train ride to downtown and lakefront.
- 4/5
The hotel was fine, if a bit difficult to navigate. The room was also fine, but laid out rather oddly. The little 'kitchen' area had a whole bunch of cupboards, all of which were completely empty and seemed a little pointless. The coffee machine worked fine, but there were no mugs, only paper cups and water glasses. I wouldn't mention this at all, except family members staying in a different room *did* have mugs, and when we asked the staff, we were told they were only available in 'some' rooms. This wasn't a huge problem, just odd, especially since our room was supposedly 'deluxe' . Also, while the room is big in terms of square footage, the bathroom is *tiny*; you barely even have room to open the closet, and if the closet doors were open, the bathroom doors would be blocked. There was only one sink, and no shelves or storage, so sharing a bathroom between two people was difficult, to say nothing of three or four people who could theoretically be sharing the room. The inner part of the bathroom with the toilet and shower felt like a closet on its own. And yet there was plenty of empty space elsewhere in the room, i.e around the desk. It was just a very odd layout. And again, this is one of the larger rooms! The location is excellent; perfect for exploring downtown Oak Park and just a few blocks from the Green Line and Metra stations. Definitely check out the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings nearby!
- 5/5
Little old school. Like walking into the 60’s. But, bathroom is updated. Nice small kitchen area with microwave and small refrigerator. Very comfortable for our one night stay.
- 5/5
Exceptional, charming and clean.
- 5/5
Pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel is. Staff was great. Very nostalgic decor. Room was appointed with everything you need and was very spacious. Parking was easy. Bar/restaurant attached and very convenient. Would stay here again for sure.

The room at the Carleton Oak Park was very nice and conveniently located. There were two restaurants at the property. We only ate at Poor Phil’s Shell Bar. It was fantastic. Their appetizers were delicious. The Lobster bisque was delightful. They served the very best Crab Cakes that I have ever eaten. I rarely eat fried foods, but, their lobster bites were tasty and I had a hard time resisting the urge to eat them all. Later for dessert, we enjoyed a delicious hot fudge sundae. All of our meals were eaten on their comfortable outdoor patio.
- 4/5
Only issue was I was not able to use any of my devices that a have a hdmi cord and the TV did have spiderwebs behind it as if it hadn't been cleaned it quite some time. I know it was just 1 day stay but being able to use my hdmi devices would've made the stay excellent
- 5/5
Charming, cozy hotel. Conviently located close to train. Free parking was nice. No breakfast but walkable restaurant less than a block away. No pool but room was very comfortable and clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Sidewalk bar and cafe very nice. Italian restaurant on site excellent place to dine.
- 5/5
Beautiful Antique Hotel. Lovely location. Downtown is amazing.
- 3/5
Location is great, but if you are traveling with a stroller or wheelchair, you may find it very difficult to get in and out from you room.
- 5/5
The hotel is darling, good vibes, clean room, plenty of pillows & towels, staff friendly and available. Great location as well. Great stay!
- 5/5
Nice clean and confortable room with more amenities than we needed
- 2/5
I was excited to stay here close to my daughter’s new apartment we were moving her into. The rating on Hotels.com is 9.2. No way this is a 9.2 hotel. We checked in with four people and had reserved 2 rooms. They were both the old motel rooms apparently. We checked out both, one smelled horrible like dirty diapers, had crumbs in the drawer, dirt on the floor, the window had dust and dirt behind the curtain. We looked at two other rooms, they were just as bad. The man at the desk gave us the vibe that we were interrupting his meal. He upgraded to inside the main hotel. When I opened the door, there was suitcases and clothes making it apparent this was occupied. Went back to front desk and got another (5th room now…) key and decided at this point, it’s not going to be much better. It was better than the garden suites, but old and tired. Remodeled in like 1993? Won’t be back which is a shame because this could be a great hotel with some decent housekeepers who actually clean and some upgrades to rooms.
- 4/5
It was adequate

Old charming hotel with excellent bathroom. Rugs in the hallways and bedrooms are old and need to be updated.

Loved the vintage vibe of this hotel. The room was very clean.

- 5/5
Lovely location. Clean and quiet and charming. Had a lovely stay.
- 5/5
A very distinctive building in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Parking nearby, and friendly staff. Love it ❤️
- 2/5
The lobby was lovely, keeping original character. Our room was surprisingly uncomfortable. We were next to the elevator (never good), our bathroom was huge but felt like a hospital bathroom, very antiseptic, not at all cozy. Our room had very little decoration, not one picture on the walls, felt like the bare minimum had been done. The drapes did not fully cover the windows but left about five inches in the middle of both sets of windows. The king sized bed had a dip in it.
- 5/5
Great location, super cute neighborhood. Super adorable boutique hotel! Staff were great & rooms were very clean. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
There was no bar and the kitchen was not stocked. However it was very quiet and comfortable.

We arrived around midnight and the staff was ready and helpful in getting us to our room. The hotel is older, boutique style, but very beautiful and the room was enormous. There was the usual toiletries and coffee provided. They have several lots for free parking. The only (very minor) issues I had were the beds were quite hard and the sheets were very stiff and scratchy... as if they had been starched. Overall it was a beautiful property in a great location with wonderful amenities we didn't have the opportunity to take advantage of.

Not part of the hotel but excellent on site dining. I would recommend this hotel
- 5/5
Bar could be open later on the weekdays
- 5/5
Great location and old world charm!
- 5/5
Absolutely wonderful. It is a beautiful older building but so well maintained and the decor is just lovely. I especially loved how the bathrooms and decor has likely been redone but still probably looks as it did 100 years ago or more - not all modernized or barn-style or whatever all the latest stuff is. The beige / light yellow trim and white tile bathrooms are SO nice. I'll definitely be back. Cassie the server in Poor Phil's restaurant downstairs was very sweet also. Thank you
- 4/5
It’s a charming hotel and very well priced. But the air conditioning is loud and it’s too loud outside to sleep with the windows open.
- 4/5
Just decaf choices for coffee. Sink in bathroom didn’t drain properly, cleaning staff should notice that and put in a work order. Everything else was fine.
- 5/5
Clean room, quiet
- 4/5
The room was clean and plenty of towels.
- 4/5
Great location and nice hotel. I would like to see a few amenities such as hand lotion in the bathroom and coffee in the lobby. Also, wi-fi is sketchy.
- 4/5
Room was clean. Outdated
- 5/5
Clean room kitchen nice loved the way hotel decorated old fashion staff very polie professional nice felt welcome

- 5/5
Fifth time staying at the Carlton and absolutely love it! Both the hotel & motel have been wonderful. Clean, comfortable with parking close by. Located in a cozy neighborhood with numerous restaurants and shopping within a close walking distance. Highly recommend!!
- 5/5
Close to everything! Attached restaurant is excellent
- 2/5
The room itself felt quite dated and is clearly in need of refurbishment. Additionally, both the sink and shower drained poorly, resulting in standing water after each use. While the carpet initially appeared clean, that impression quickly changed when I dropped an earring and had to search for it. In doing so, I found crumbs and debris on both sides of the bed, suggesting the room had not been thoroughly cleaned following the previous guest.
- 4/5
We stayed at the Carleton Motel. We stayed there because we saw so many people said everything was so wonderful. I think they must have been referring only to the Hotel. The Motel owned by the Carleton really needs updating. Our room was ok but it smelled musty and it just looked like it needed updating. I really felt like I paid too much for the room that we rented for the condition that it was in.
- 5/5
Great location! Clean room and smelled good!
- 5/5
The Carleton of Oak Park is a beautiful older hotel. Yes, it does not have all the luxuries of some of the newer hotels, like a pool, valet parking, etc., but it is like stepping back in time, very much like some of the older European hotels we have stayed in. The location is absolutely fantastic, you can walk to everything in Oak Park, great food, coffee, wine bar, etc. We have stayed many, many times over the years and have only ever had one minor complaint and that is that the dedicated parking lots (of which there are three), are not enforced and often fill up during the day with non-hotel guests, this will thin out after 10:30 at night, but it is quite inconvenient if you return to the hotel before then. We always end up finding parking but it is a lot of driving around to the three lots. It's never enough to dissuade us from returning again and again, we LOVE it!
- 5/5
We used the frig but not the kitchen for our 2-day stay. All was fine.
- 4/5
I appreciate the welcoming staff and the atmosphere of the public spaces. Rooms can seem a bit worn but are comfortable. I love the extra in-room minibar spaces! Ask for an inside room if you’d rather not listen to the garbage truck outside your window.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4/5
The staff were helpful in unloading our luggage and transporting to our room. Front desk was always available to assist with incidentals. Clean room and bedding was comfortable.

In a great location, staff was excellent! The pub has great food!

It was so cute, clean, and elegant. The bed was very comfortable and staff was friendly and welcoming. I would absolutely stay here again

It’s a beautiful historic hotel with huge rooms
- 1/5
The room was nice but the air didn’t work, the radiator clicked all night and the lights constantly flickered. The guest above had children that ran across the floor until midnight and the maintenance technician could only suggest we open the window to keep cool.
- 3/5
Building was pretty nice, but poor ventilation in the bathroom and some mold visible. I don’t know why hotels in the city don’t have windows.. elevator was slow. Wi-Fi was a problem with the reset it worked fine. Staff was awesome very friendly. Neighbourhood is great.
- 5/5
Clean and well kept
- 4/5
Interesting and unique. Great food!
- 3/5
They allowed us to change rooms the second night and the day clerk was very kind and helpful. The night clerk was not particularly friendly or welcoming, though she was ok. Both rooms we had were clean in the main areas, but underneath furniture and small spaces between the bed and wall or behind the door had obviously not been vacuumed or swept and there was debris. We even found a pill behind the night stand while searching for an outlet!

The room and property were fine but the carpet and furniture were a bit dated. The heat was a radiator so it was tough to control for sleeping.

Great staff and the hotel was easy to find, get checked in and parked. Limited free parking, but it was not an issue for my stay. It was very quiet and the rooms are nice.

This hotel has a lot of character and the staff take good care of it, but it really triggered my dust allergies.
- 4/5
Hotel overall was amazing. I would love to come back and stay again. My only complaint was the shower/tub drained very very slowly and the water would collect while showering. No other complaints. Loved my King room.
- 5/5
3 . If you need to be there early min away from Rush Hospital. Parking is close & free. Just not easiest for handicapped as stairs at 2 entrances we use. Unless I missed one.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and large/clean rooms.

The Carleton is an old school kind of hotel, one some may be tempted to call 'boutique.' The bed was comfy, there was a kitchenette, and the bathtub was deep (although not very long, but I was able to get a nice soak in.) The only real negative in my experience was the heat. The rooms are heated via radiator, and when I got to my room it was very cold. I turned the knob on the radiator to the warmest setting; after a couple of hours it was still cold. I asked the front desk if there was something they could do, so they sent up a portable radiator (rather than a fan-powered space heater.) The portable radiator worked all right, but the heat was all focused in one area of the room, and there were still pockets of cold. I understand it must be horribly expensive to update a heating system in a hotel as old (but well-kept) as The Carleton. But . . . it was ultimately not a very comfortable stay. In warmer months things should be fine - there is a window unit air conditioner that looks very traditional and big enough to cool the room. So take this for what it's worth.
- 5/5
Nice bathroom
- 5/5
Beautiful clean and spacious rooms. Good value.
- 4/5
Room was spotless, staff courteous and helpful, restaurants good, staff friendly. I did not like the wine selection. It is a beautiful old hotel, with lovely woodwork and decorative details. Our room was too hot, and I needed to have some element of fresh air from the outside. There are very good restaurants in the neighborhood as well. Egg Harbor was great for breakfast.

Desk folks were efficient and welcoming.

But the property is clearly tired and needs freshening up. Staff is pleasant.
- 5/5
Bed was comfortable, the suite well appointed. Someone was blasting a t v next door and woke me up at six thirty a m.
- 5/5
We only stayed one night- it was quiet, the room was fine, the location is great for drop off at Rush, which is just a half mile away. There is an Egg Harbor about a block away which is great!
- 5/5
I had a wonderful 4-night stay at the Carleton in the midst of a very snowy winter. The room was nice, the staff were excellent. They did tell me they were understaffed and so I chose not to have my room refreshed during my stay, which was fine as it came fully stocked with enough towels and amenities to cover the stay. Walking distance to everything I needed and I really appreciated the coffee shops nearby. I didn't try out the hotel restaurants but every time I walked by there were happy people in there. I would stay again.

Once in a blue moon you walk into a hotel room - and exhale a sigh of relief: "home sweet home"....

The heat radiator was banging loudly several times each two hours which woke us up during the night. Check out was at 11 am but the maid knocked on the door at 8:15 am waking us up early.
- 5/5
Charming and great location!

The Carleton has everything we require: nice, clean, roomy room. 2 good restaurants. A great bar. Free parking lot on site. Convenient to everything in Oak Park. Super nice staff!
- 5/5
A gorgeous boutique hotel, with helpful staff and a great bar!
- 2/5
This is a very old hotel and it seems not s whole lot has been done in many years to improve it. We only had housekeeping on one of 3 days; beds were uncomfortable and there was no comforter. We had to turn the heat up to be somewhat warm which made the air in the room dry. This hotel is in dire need of renovation

- 5/5
Great location and lovely room.

It was wonderful as always!
- 3/5
Staff was friendly and accommodating and lobby warm and tastefully decorated for Christmas. The price was expected being it was in a Chicago suburb. The bed was comfortable but since the temperature outside was freezing we could have used a heavy comforter. The room was disappointing, very outdated, carpet was old and needed to be replaced or a deep, deep cleaning. The heat was on but seemed to shut off sp

Gorgeous Art Deco hotel worth staying at for the architectural design itself. La Notte restaurant was simply fabulous with delicious wines, cocktails and some of the best Italian cuisine I have had in my life - and I have been to Italy! Succulent tilapia with risotto and melt-in-your mouth navel pasta. 100% recommended!!
- 5/5
check in was fast and easy and we were given very good instructions on where to park and help with our bags and ice!!!!!!

Super clean and lovely room! I also love the soaps! Perfect for one night or several. Staff were amazing. I also enjoyed dinner and then a late night malt from poor Phil’s!
- 5/5
Helpful staff and loved the little motel room, my first time staying in one, like a little apartment.
- 4/5
Clean room though overly hot and little air flow. Short-staffed so we didn’t have many interactions but staff were kind and professional.
- 5/5
We had a great stay. Recommend for large rooms, walkable and safe area, price, and free parking lots. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 stars is the room was very warm/stuffy and the fan worked but not air-I get it’s and older hotel but the thermostat was not secure and hanging on by a thread the tv was also hard to work it had to be turned in a certain position to power on. Those were not deal breakers to me and I would definitely stay again if I’m in the area.

The hotel is dated and room service was spotty. The location was great, as I believe that is the only respectable hotel in the Oak Park, Illinois area.

Unique older hotel in great condition in nice area with walkable restaurant choices. Free parking was a huge bonus. Being older, there are some stairs up and down to the lobby. Only feedback would be the computers in the lobby didn't work and the wi-fi was terrible in the room. I needed to print something and the only option was to email it to the hotel then it took 1 hour for it to show up.

This hotel was truly a gem! It's located in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of shopping and restaurants to try. Me and my husband stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. There is plenty of free parking for the hotel guest which is very rare for Chicago and it's surrounding areas. It is also in close proximity to downtown Chicago. The room was very spacious and clean and we loved the old charm of the decor. The only thing that was not the best was that the king size bed was a little too hard for our liking. But we were able to fix that by getting an extra comforter to make it softer. We loved the jazz music that was playing in the lobby, so soothing. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Chicago.
- 5/5
We loved the historic quality of this gracious hotel. It was so beautiful inside. The room was perfect. The bed was very comfortable, and the location was great@
- 4/5
My room was very clean….cozy… the only complaint was the musty smell.. I always bring a candle with me and I did use it.
- 5/5
Nice room good size. Clean
- 4/5
I miss not having access to fresh coffee in the morning.
- 4/5
no
- 4/5
Very close to the Green Line and Metra Stations
- 5/5
Staff was very accommodating and helpful !
- 4/5
We liked the location, the room and helpful staff. The drawback was that the hotel has a very dated sunken lobby. This made handling luggage too unwieldy without assistance. This includes entering the hotel and room, and exiting at the end of our stay. We and our friends found that to be too much hassle to stay there again.
- 5/5
Great price for location. Stayed in motel section. Would definitely stay again
- 4/5
the facility was excellent ...........hope to stay there in the future!
- 5/5
This is a historic property and the age does show, however it was exactly what I expected. The location is perfect! There are several different dining and shopping areas within walking distance. Parking was a plus as this is a highly popular area and parking can be a problem. I would recommend and will likely to return myself.
- 5/5
Quiet and near lots of food options
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Easy access to the L Green line gives you access to all of Chicago. But there is enough in Oak Park alone to make it a destination. The Carleton is my choice in the greater Chicago area.
- 4/5
Very quiet. Comfortable room.
- 5/5
Includes parking.
- 4/5
The hotel is well maintained. Our room was clean and bright. Close to the main street and metro. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again if we come to Oak Park.
- 5/5
What an adorable little gem! Loved the area and the character of the hotel. Small bathroom but generous bedroom space. Will be back!
- 4/5
A unique non-cookie cutter hotel! On the night I was there, TV reception was poor, without any interfering weather conditions. I would suggest more outlets, including charging outlets for tech, which my room did not have. But it’s a charming space.
- 4/5
It is an early 20th Century apartment building converted into a hotel, years ago. Lots of charm still there, such as in the bathroom. It was clean and well maintained. It is in a good and convenient neighborhood with lots of eating and shopping options. The train was nearby but I never used it Parking was good. I would stay there again. It seems to be a perfect location, at least for me.
- 4/5
Old school but nice! HVAC could improve
- 4/5
The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because our room had a very old, musty smell that never went away. My guess is not all the rooms had that smell, but since we only stayed for one night, we did not ask for a new room. But we loved the room, decor and hotel overall and would stay again. Definitely recommend.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at this cute older hotel. Has a lot of charm and Oak Park is a lovely area to explore. Great access to the CTA green line trains for an easy way to explore the city. Thanks!
- 5/5
Beautiful place. Well cared for. Wonderful friendly customer service.
- 3/5
The beds are only comfortable if you’re sleeping alone, otherwise the lighter person tends to roll to the middle. When I slept by myself the second night, it was fine. The room is mostly clean but dated, and the area around is cute. A good option if you just need a quick in-and-out stay.
- 5/5
Very nice. Room was small
- 5/5
The furnishings are older but very well maintained. I liked the location. Lots of parking. The room had a kitchenette, which I wasn't even expecting.
- 5/5
They are unassuming but they offer comfort and convenience for visitors to Oak Park.
- 5/5
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Carleton of Oak Park. Lovely building with a beautiful lobby!. Our room was spacious and clean; the bed quite comfortable. Easy-to-use shower/tub with two sinks...and fluffy towels. Loved the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture photos in the hallways. Great location too. We took a nice early morning walk around the neighborhood. Love the old buildings, the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired touches, the public art and the murals. Free parking. There are restaurants inside the hotel for breakfast and dinner, as well as several within walking distance.
- 5/5
2nd stay at the Carlton. Location is fantastic. Clean & friendly helpful staff.
- 4/5
Classic hotel with decent amenities.
- 5/5
Breakfast not available, restaurants for lunch and dinner. Lunch was good, I didnt have dinner there.
- 4/5
Lovely hotel in downtown Oak Park with friendly staff and large rooms.
- 4/5
The place is in a neighborhood with 2 restaurants connected to it. It is really close to the train station and heart of the city which is walkable. Lots of restaurants and stores to go to as well. The hotel has a lot of charm and historic significance. The elevator is quite small and can probably fit 2 people with a luggage or two only, but it's doable. The room itself was quaint. The bathroom was small and tight with its 2 sink, closet (which you can only open if you close the bathroom door first), toilet and bathtub. The towels were thin (like a motel would have). The black and white tile floor in the bathroom brightened the place. The air conditioner was a bit loud and the view we had was the alley and the motel side of the hotel. There is a small room with a microwave, small fridge, sink and coffee maker. There is no utensils, paper towels or anything to use, so bring your own. We did enjoy staying here because of the location (nice and safe area), history and comfortable room.
- 4/5
Close to the train with plenty of options for food.
- 5/5
This hotel was so quaint and historic. Parking was tough, but we didn’t get in until after midnight, so go figure. Very clean, friendly staff. I’d definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Was really good. Room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of space to sprawl around. Even had a decent closet for storage. There are 2 restaurants attached so you have access to some decent food.
- 5/5
Bed was extremely comfortable, a really nice hotel and close to Chicago transport (bus and L train station)
- 5/5
Brilliant stay.
- 5/5
Nice to have accessible parking
- 5/5
Loved the look and feel of the place. Great location. Free parking a huge plus. Oak Park was lovely. The Italian restaurant at the hotel is fantastic.
- 5/5
Very convenient for visiting Frank Lloyd Wright sites in Oak Park. Train station less than a block away. Located in the Pleasant historic neighborhood in a classic building, we enjoyed the classic lobby vibe. Room was basic but clean with a nice kitchenette. We loved the plentiful free parking and the on-site bistro with outdoor seating
- 5/5
Other then not having a pool. This place is not bad at all. It's an older hotel and with that it has wear, but is managed well. Its not close to downtown but close enough. The hotel is in the Oak Park area where you can walk around day or night to shop and eat safely.
- 5/5
Very easy too access, clean and safe👍
- 5/5
Nice old hotel
- 4/5
And you’re short of staff. I’m from downstate and was surprised at so many “will hire” signs I saw almost everywhere. Not enough $ to pay enough so they can get by on it or there are other reasons too many won’t work. Put my review to good use. Haha. Helps me understand myself.
- 5/5
Hotel is beautifully kept, staff is great, connected restaurants great service with outdoor seating.
- 4/5
Bed was so close to the wall, that you could only get out on one side
- 5/5
Always quiet and nice staff
- 4/5
However, the shower was not as clean as we expected. There were long black hairs on the shower floor
- 5/5
The fact that we could park without a problem, nice environment and close to the metro station.
- 5/5
Staff very professional. It’s quiet.& rooms are always clean
- 5/5
Location
- 5/5
It was a nice stay as usual. We've had about five or six stays in the past 3 or 4 years. Always 10/10
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Nothing it was clean
- 4/5
Very comfortable, good air conditioning, nice beds. Basic but clean and had all we needed. Also financially reasonable for the area.
- 4/5
This hotel was in a very nice neighborhood. The room was nice. The beds did feel a little smaller then a queen size.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
I’ve stayed at the Carlton of Oakbrook several times. It has a wonderful historic charm and is conveniently located within Oakbrook. The staff is friendly and the facilities are clean and well maintained.
- 5/5
AMAZING!! PERFECT!! AWESOME!! Everything about this hotel met my expectations and beyond. The outside area was clean, quiet and upscale. The inside of the hotel was superb. To my surprise they even had a restaurant which was so phenomenal. This will be my hotel place for when I revisit ILLINOIS. I can’t say enough excellent things about this hotel. I look forward to coming back again 😊
- 2/5
Unsafe, bedsheets weren’t clean enough
- 2/5
I ended up breaking my leg and needed housekeeping to gather my belongings for me and they didn’t check any drawers for items. My mother had to go back and get all my stuff that housekeeping overlooked. Bed was uncomfortable to boot.
- 5/5
We loved staying at the Carleton and will definitely try to stay here again.
- 3/5
Was okay, the location is the best.
- 5/5
Beautiful room. Great location with free parking. Lots of restaurants nearby. Close to highway
- 5/5
Good communication with staff.
- 5/5
Such a great vintage hotel in the middle of everything you want to be close to!!
- 4/5
The hotel is vintage. This means dated to some extent but the overall it comes together nicely. Very clean. The bath lacked much vanity space but my chest was right beside the bathroom door so no issue. I rated an 8 because I did experience that there was no service. I stayed 2 nights. I am fine not changng the towels for 1 day but would have liked a re-stock of the coffee. Also the coffee maker leaked which created a mess to clean up. I did fnd the walls thing and the room next to me had the TV on all night. I called at 4AM and the desk person said they would call then to have them turn it down but it didn't happen. (I could hear the TV clearly so would have heard if their phone rang.) I would definlty stay here again.
- 5/5
Easy check-in. All the front desk, staff, friendly and accommodating, plenty of towels and coffee from housekeeping. We'd definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Clean, nice vibe. No smell, quiet. Excellent location, train is right there. The shower faucet could be less wobbly. What quite unpleasant you surprised me that there were no USB ports to charge the phone.
- 5/5
This place is exquisite. It is clean, historic, quiet. The proximity to shops and restaurants is awesome. We only went to one of the attached restaurants, Poor Phil’s, but it’s is a must visit.
- 5/5
Location is perfect for restaurants, shopping, walk to train in to Chicago.
- 5/5
Clean!
- 4/5
The only thing keeping this prperty from 5 stars from me is the rooms being a little dated.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly
- 4/5
Great location. Little dated
- 4/5
Lovely older property with large nicely appointed rooms. Convenient to walking everywhere. Have stayed here before and will again. If visiting Oak Park this is a great option!
- 5/5
This location had ample parking and the rooms were nice and clean. Easy to check in and checkout! Near plenty of Restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
Great room, large. Comfortable beds. Clean. Lots of dining options nearby
- 5/5
Felt welcomed. Conveniently located;15" to O'Hare
- 5/5
Poor Phil’s was great as well with a very pleasant staff. Overall a fantastic weekend~We will be back for sure👍👍
- 5/5
Very close to the station to go directly into downtown Chicago with free parking.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay! This hotel offers clean, quiet and convenient accommodation in a great location. Convenient parking where I felt my vehicle was secure. Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Everything was exactly as advertised. I stayed in one of the "motel rooms" which is off of a courtyard and was really quiet. My shower drain was a little slow but maintenence came out and fixed it as soon as i brought it to someones attention.
- 5/5
This is a great property in the middle of a very nice area. We walked to the Frank Lloyd Wright house and Trinity Chapel. Lots of great shops and restaurants nearby.
- 5/5
Wonderfu
- 3/5
And not to forget that CTA blue line has A LOT OF DRUG USERS.
- 5/5
Great hotel very well appointed. Too many stairs.
- 3/5
There is no restaurant or breakfast service. The view from hotel windows is a back dirty alley!! The hotel felt like it belonged in an Agatha Christie murder mystery. Vintage feel. Which was the most appealing part
- 5/5
Both restaurants on the property are worth a visit.
- 4/5
Excellent position next to the CTA Green Line which takes you Downtown with a very frequent service. Also well placed for Oak Park and the Frank Lloyd Wright houses.
- 5/5
It was very quiet and very clean. I had a nice peaceful time there for two nights.
