Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests appreciating the cleanliness, quietness, and spaciousness of the rooms, as well as the helpfulness of the staff. However, there are recurring complaints about the smell of smoke in non-smoking rooms, thin walls, lack of cleanliness, and issues with the deposit system. Some guests also reported problems with the beds and the absence of certain amenities.

The staff were kind but a little out to lunch. We asked where the room was and she said room 225 was on the 3rd floor. The room its self was very clean and looked freshly remodeled. My only complaint was the matress. We had 2 queen beds and they were both spring beds that creaked and you sank to the bottom of the frame

Got in late and the staff was very helpfil getting us settled in. Plenty oof towells for showers. Nice fridge/freezer and microwave for our needs. AC was great snd helped us sleep well. Internet and TV made the morning relaxing. Wonderfil waffle breakfast!

Just when I was about to search for who to call, the nighttime attendant came out to check us in. Perfect. The coffee was great. Thank you Hometown Red Roof Inn Puyallup.
- 5/5
Clean room with a full sized fridge with a two burner stove top. Big microwave. I liked the stay.
- 2.5/5
The bed were a lil to firm and was hard to sleep, the chaos that was happening on the property was annoying and kept us awake.
- 2/5
Staff was very nice, however, our room was right next to the door to the stairwell and was slammed many times during the night. That combined with the very hard, uncomfortable beds we were very glad we were attending an expo and only there to sleep… which we got very little of.

Worse experienced we had. We arrived late and my reservation was cancelled as No show. We end up no where to stay. The front guy was not helpful at all. I guest it was meant not to stay that hotel. Terrible location and hotel itself looks terrible.

It was an unexpected trip for a family emergency and looking for the cheapest hotel. The wifi did not work and the overall cleanliness was lacking.

The room was a bit musty smelling but we just sprayed air freshener and it was fine. Room was very clean. I wish they had better coffee options for morning. Overall it was a good stay

Peaceful stay no loud noise, clean short drive to store and restaurants
- 1/5
The biggest issue was the smell. The hallway leading to my room, and the room itself, had a strong odor of marijuana and possibly other substances. The hallway did not look or feel clean. The pictures make the hotel and rooms look inviting, modern, and very clean. In reality, the property looked more run down and cramped. After walking through the hallway and into the room and noticing the smell and overall condition, I decided not to stay and went to a different hotel instead.
- 5/5
I stayed for a work conference so I stayed in the room for limited time and was mostly out. This hotel was cheaper than any hotel I looked at within 20min drive online.
- 4/5
Was nice and good value
- 0.5/5
It's a convenient location. The pictures online make it look like it's a pretty nice looking place. If the place was truly usable, it would be a great value. However, they do charge you a hundred dollar refundable.Deposit that you have to wait 7 to 10 business days to get. This was supposed to be a nice little getaway out of the norm for my wife and I got to the hotel was pretty disappointed in what the pictures make it look like. And what it actually is. Got checked in and ended up switching rooms because I am handicapped and stated that I needed a bathtub in which I did that online through you guys as well as in person. When I was checking in and I got to my room and it was a shower in which I am not capable of standing in for long enough. Then, when my wife went to take a bath in the new room, there was no hot water. It was barely even warm. And by the time it got down into the tub, it was cold. It wouldn't even been warm enough for a shower. So I called the front desk, told them there is no hot water and they said that they had people coming to work on the water. The next day, which does me no good.Anyways. none of this was disclosed at check in. My wife had to go elsewhere to take a bath and ended up calling me and said that. There's no point in coming back. And I tried to see if I could take a shower and could not. I told the front desk that I wanted to check out. And I wanted a refund because this was unacceptable. They told me I had to take that up with booking.com. so I need to know who to talk to get a refund for this.
- 4/5
When we checked out, I didn't like the leaving part.
- 1/5
I had bugs in my room. The kitchen area was decent. My room smelled bad..like intense body odor and was hard to sleep. I had to go to the store for odor sprays and disinfectants. Then an fire alarm went off at 6am for testing when it was scheduled for 9a. This alram wasnt a normal fire alarm sound. It was a piercing long beep. I eneded up with a severe headache that effected my vision and ringing in my ears. I had a big meeting that I couldn't do. I requested a refund at the front desk and left. The staff was helpful and understanding but dealing with Expedia is going to be the problem with the process. Between the two I am considering small claims court. So Bugs, bad odor and not able to sleep comfortably.
- 1/5
This hotel is in a very bad part of town don't advise staying there.
- 4/5
For the price it was a decent room. The walls are thin so you can hear the tv in the next room. The ac worked. I didn’t use the stove. Would I stay here again, probably not.
- 4/5
Still haven’t gotten my deposit credited back to my credit card. This is the only place that has taken more than 48hrs!! We’re going on almost five days now. Out side of that, everything else was just fine.
- 1/5
I didn't see it the first night I got in late went to sleep. I woke up walk to the bathroom and noticed I was stepping on pieces that looked like drugs. I had my service animal with me so check your rooms maybe sweep and mop. Wouldn't recommend bring kids or animals wont be staying at any of there locations
- 2/5
Internet so slow I couldnt stream a single show (been this way both times I've stayed here), and the beds are absolutely terrible. No complaints with anything else, and the staff has been great. But I won't stay here again.
- 5/5
It was a great place for three days.
- 2/5
Children were running & screaming all over the place, up & down the stairs, everywhere. They were having great fun for no less than 2 hours from 9pm to 11pm at least. When I say screaming... It was non-stop. Unbelievable that parents would allow that. Unacceptable that the staff didn't put that to a quick stop. At 3:30am, a very loud pounding noise woke us up. Like someone pounding on a door repeatedly. That lasted about 20 minutes. Never could get back to sleep. This was daylight savings by the way!! Needless to say, we will never stay there again. We checked reviews before booking and regret not taking them seriously. I do not like leaving negative reviews... But only do it out of concern for the safety of others. The owners & management are responsible to make sure their guests have a safe & comfortable stay. That's what we paid for. We did not receive it. Pay a little more and stay in a more reputable hotel!
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable
- 1/5
This place is a get what you pay for type place. I've been here many times but only due to need without a choice due to money. The beds are terrible. The key cards and locks have had issues every time, this time specifically the lock on my door took two or three attempts before it would actually unlock and open. Parking is terrible. They have only 1 luggage cart.

- 1/5
The room had a weird smell like fish. And there was for directions on how to use the AC.
- 1/5
Had to clean my own room and take out trash. Wont return my deposit for a week and that left me sleeping in my car in the cold because that was my food and gas money. Was told by front desk it would be returned right after check out.
- 5/5
Great team help thanks help and refund i will recoment you guys and will use you guys again

It was quite noisy around the area where we stayed. The door to the room was difficult to open at times as well. The staff was courteous and friendly.

The room smelled like cigs bad
- 5/5
Great location for us
- 3/5
No coffee pot….too many pot smokers….mattresses were horrible
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
It was easy to find, parking was good. Price was very reasonable but with that said don’t expect luxury. I was only staying a night but several would have been no problem. There was some commotion out on the street or in parking lot at around 11:30 pm involving loud cars and tires squealing but it was a Friday night. I slept well and would stay again
- 5/5
Great workers
- 5/5
Very nice people
- 2/5
Greatful we did not reserve it forore than one night. It was not not as well cared for.
- 1/5
There was a cigarette stench even though the room was said to be non-smoking. One of the bed sheets was had a hole in it that looked like it might’ve been from a cigarette but the cherry on top was we found spots of mold on the ceiling above the shower. I went down to reception to request a refund after checking in only a few hours prior and was told the GM would handle that within a week. I have not heard a word about it since.
- 2/5
The property needs to be updated significantly. You gave me a kitchen but NOTHING to use in it. I was woken up every night due to barking dogs and people all night long making noise. There were people working on cars in the lot. The water for the shower was not hot. The bed was TERRIBLE. I was overall very disappointed and will not be returning.
- 5/5
The staff is really great and welcoming.
- 1/5
Did not realize this place is also host long term lodging. There are sus people outside the hotel and we were worried about our car being park outside. We didn't feel safe and there was a bug flying in our room.
- 4/5
Convenient and accessible to family. Good value for cost.
- 2/5
The mattresses are terrible, you move and they creak a lot.
- 5/5
Good room
- 2/5
Smells of urine outside the room. Lots of noise late at night.
- 5/5
They have always been extremely friendly and helpful
- 1/5
This motel might be more of a half-way house or semi-permanent residence for people who cannot get leases elsewhere. There are signs alluding to the fact that they run background checks on their guests, you are only permitted to stay 28 days before you have to leave for 24 hours and there are signs with phone numbers to call if you are being held against your will for sex or other things. There were a number of questionable people in the parking lot when we arrived. The plants in the windows of the rooms and full sized refrigerators in such a small space told us that people were living there. We were concerned about the safety of our vehicles. We checked in and checked right back out that afternoon as soon as we secured another place to stay. I will say, they were very generous and gave us a credit since we didn’t use the room for either night we have booked it. The reviews lead me to believe it was a regular hotel.
- 2/5
Sadly, this hotel is quite run down. Lots of scratches in the countertops and floors. The bed frame was weirdly bouncy, it was like a pop-up metal frame with no box spring under the mattress. The room smelled like dirty clothes. They do Not provide any dishes or cook wear, so having the burners and fridge (that buzzes at night) is worthless. Who travels with a skillet and dish wear?
- 4/5
Was nice
- 3/5
There was no coffee maker nor cups which would have been nice to have a fresh cup of coffee first thing in the morning instead of having to get dressed then drive to Starbucks first thing.
- 3/5
The bed wasn't comfortable at all. The shampoo wasn't good. No dishes in the kitchenette.
- 2/5
At 9:14 p.m., management called my room to check if everything was okay. While I understand and appreciate the intent, I had gone to bed early after a long day, and the call woke me up. At 2:22 a.m., a man attempted to enter my room — first using a key card, then by rattling the door, followed by aggressive knocking and shaking the handle. He did not stop until I threatened to call the police. It was frightening and deeply unsettling. The next morning, I woke up early for another long workday only to find the sink clogged and not draining. To their credit, the staff resolved it by the time I returned. Unfortunately, the second night wasn’t any better. The noise continued, with someone playing their TV loudly past 3 a.m., leaving me again with very little sleep. I’ve stayed in many hotels and motels, and I’ve never felt compelled to leave a negative review — until now. Despite the kind staff, the lack of safety, excessive noise, and maintenance issues made this my worst hotel experience. I cannot recommend this hotel.
- 4/5
This property shouldn’t advertise as an extended stay and not provide any pots, pans, or dishes.
- 5/5
Everything is close by
- 5/5
VERY GOOD, STAFF ARE SUPER NICE AND NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH ANYONE OR ANYTHING THEY COULDN'T HELP ME WOTH... FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE
- 4/5
It wasnt bad. The bed was just really uncomfortable.
- 1/5
The floors were dirty!! like they have not been swept are mopped in days!!! To where I had to keep my shoes on the whole time as long as I walk around!! Then I go to the shower to take a bath, it had old hair from the Last person or last people! smh I do not know I just know what I seen! Also, there's no dishes inside the room or pots are pans you have to purchase them from the front office as a set!! not individual but a set! are bring your own smh. I was very disappointed with my stay here!!!!!
- 3/5
Was an ok stay just loud noisy neighbors in the kiddle of the night slamming doors, and walls are kind of thin so you can hear everything.
- 2/5
The other guests partied like rockstars. The shower curtain smelled sour, and the room smelled sweaty upon entry. The heating and air conditioning unit didnt work. I couldnt wait to check out.
- 5/5
We had an amazing time!:) Thank you
- 5/5
For the most part, the stay was good. The surrounding area seemed a bit loud at times, which can only be controlled so much by the hotel. The room was mostly clean. We ended up using a disinfectant wipe on the remote control for the TV, because that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in quite a while (or the previous guest was just that disgusting). The rest of the room was tidy, including the bathroom and kitchen. The overall experience was positive, and I would consider staying again in the future, should the opportunity arise.
- 3/5
Great location, easy check in, friendly check in staff, seems to be a fairly safe and secure hotel. Now the bad, the room floor was dirty, needs a good deep clean. The bed mattress was so worn on one side it felt like you were sleeping on a hill, it needs to be replaced. The good thing about the room was that bathroom all worked as it should. I’ve stayed at this hotel at least once a year for the last 4 years and it’s steadily declining.
- 4/5
It was easy to find, felt some what safe in parking lot, room met our needs for our stay , nothing fancy but was overall comfortable.
- 2/5
The property is noisy, bunch of sketchy people around the area, the shower still had soap from the last person, the bed sucked the springs were broken and the dresser wasn't level so the drawers kept opening
- 1/5
My room was dirty. Was told that our room would be cleaned after we arrived it was not. The fllors were gross and hair everywhere. There were pube hairs on the walls of the bathroom. I asked for my money back and was told i would be contacted. I was not. Also they force you to pay 100 dollars for deposit and told would get back at checkout. Then told 3-5 business day. Its been 5 days and still have not gotten my deposit back. I do not recommend this hotel nor any place in Puyallup for that matter. There was also food on the wall. It was very gross. It wont let me upload photos to this review.
- 5/5
Perfect for what I needed
- 2/5
It smelled bad like people were actively smoking in their rooms. Bed felt gross and cheap. When I told front desk they didn't seem to care

- 4/5
This is a basic hotel. There is not a lot of service, they expect you to take out your own garbage to the dumpster. It feels more like a long term stay hotel. It wasn’t a bad deal, it was clean, and the beds were comfortable. I was sad there was not a bathtub because I had a headache while there. It turns out it probably wouldn’t have helped much because my headache was a torn artery heading to my brain and I was admitted to the hospital soon after our visit. The front desk lady was nice. I feel like workers who are temporarily in the area for a few weeks or months would like this hotel. Basic but a good sized fridge and kitchenette. If not for the shower and no bathtub, I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Loved it, good people, clean rooms!
- 2/5
Lots of permanent residents, no amenities
- 5/5
Check in/out was fast and easy and the clerk was very friendly and gave good advice on local dining. The room was clean and had a full size fridge, microwave, cooktop stove and sink. The bathroom was large and the shower roomie. The area was quiet but right in town and close to shopping and dining with lots of good options. Close to fairgrounds. Price was very good compared to similar hitels close by
- 4/5
Great value for the cost. When arriving later in the evening (9:00 pm) have to park a distance from your door. Will stay here again when attending events in Puyallup.
- 5/5
Cute hotel and pleasant accommodations
- 2/5
Could be a little more clean. Power went out on the third night and I was unable to stay in the room, my children were scared and cold.
- 2/5
Noisy noisy noisy. No sleep
- 3/5
I like the area it was in. It was quiet and nice. Next to car dealerships. The suite was super small. It worked for me and my partner but had I brought my kids we would have been cramped. Also there were crumbs in the bed. I wasn’t sure if they changed the sheets before hand. The floor was dirty and the cleaning people came after you left.
- 4/5
The staff is very attentive
- 2/5
they gave it to someone else and I ended up with just a shower
- 4/5
Needs wifi and a ice machine and its 4 star all day!!
- 3/5
First night was good but second night we had crazy neighbors. At 2am we had a guy beating on the door next door screaming to let him in for 30 minutes. He beat on the window, door and walls so hard it vibrated our room. And screamed for them to let him in. He was even saying to let him in or he was going to kill them. Pretty scary with all the screaming and threatening that was going on. Wasn’t sure if they had guns or might brake windows out in anger. Never had an experience like this at this hotel. Very surprised and disappointed.
- 5/5
THEY'VE ALWAYS H9NE ABOVE AND BEYOND IN EVERY WAY... ALWAYS TRY TO HELP AND WORK WITH THEIR GUEST
- 5/5
Good customer service
- 5/5
Staff was amazing, hotel was nice kind of dirty but nothing that was out of the ordinary for being a cheap hotel. Again the staff was amazing
- 5/5
Close to Downtown
- 1/5
The room was dirty, do not come here your better off spending a little more for something more clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The staff is what makes this place special. Great people who care about their jobs.
- 1/5
I’m a handicap man they put me on the second floor then the other elevator went down so I had to carry everything up and down the steps. The mattress was terrible for my back and the staff act like they didn’t care.
- 5/5
The young woman who works mornings during the week is just the kind of person a hotel owner would want working for them. She's amazing and left me very impressed.
- 2/5
The fridge was plenty large for the extra food we brought with us (this was the main reason I booked this hotel). The microwave was great and large. We didn’t bother doing any cooking in the room as there wasn’t much counter space and we had some of our belongings on and around the table. The bed was not the worst nor the best. It was a little lumpy and the bed frame squeaked a lot whenever someone moved. The heating and cooling system worked well. All the floors in the room were wood and we felt like every time we dropped something that it was extremely loud. Also it was really easy for the bed to move any time we leaned against it. The shower was small and the water pressure was terrible but it did get plenty hot. The spray out of the shower head could be adjusted but our room just didn’t seem to work very well. The counter space in the bathroom was very limited. Finally, our room key had difficulty working consistently. It would work just fine to unlock the door to get to in where the elevator and stairs were but would sometimes take us 6 tries to get our room door to unlock.
- 5/5
Was worth every penny
- 5/5
Easy checkin and check out
- 1/5
WORST HOTEL IVE EVER BEEN TO! I checked in at 5pm and got my keys to my room. I returned at 4 am in the morning and tried to get in my room . THE KEY DIDNT WORK!! I told the overnight staff there and had me waiting outside in the cold for 30 minutes while “ he finds my reservation” . They were disrespectful and no help at all!!
- 5/5
Excelente hotel, volvería sin duda
- 4/5
Room was clean with everything i needed
- 1/5
Room was dirty and smelled like cigarettes.
- 5/5
Reasonable price, friendly staff, and parking lot is very well lit.
- 5/5
Located near beautiful trees.
- 1/5
The bolt lock on door would not lock. The peep holes in the door were stuffed with paper ??? It was late to check out and find another place. I felt very unsafe !! When checking out in the morning I shared all the issues with the front desk and mng. The front desk gal said she would refund me the stay. (did not happen)
- 5/5
Will stay again! Great facility. Elevator a huge plus for a weary traveler!
- 5/5
Would recommend to others, friendly Staff, clean, great prices
- 2/5
It took way long to get the deposit refunded. I don’t know why the company decided to wait until weeks after I had already left to refund that. Their end says it’s Expedia’s fault while Expedia says it’s the hotel’s. Either way no one wants to refund you.
- 5/5
In town for work, was here for almost a month and I had no issues whatsoever. I will come back here again.
- 1/5
We didn't have room service it wasn't offered. When we left we had to take trash to dumpster.
- 5/5
Super close to my destination, Thankyou!
- 4/5
Clean neat and simple. The town of Pew-all-up is cool and small town feel.
- 3/5
Also Wifi is horrible. If lucky you can get 5mb
- 5/5
Noisy upstairs neighbors made it hard to sleep. Dropping heavy things, slamming doors, etc.
- 3/5
The people upstairs were very loud with their sexual exploits, lots of bed squeaking, loud walking, dragging chairs around space. They went late into the night and made it difficult to sleep.
- 2/5
The mattress cover had food stains on it. Staff came right away to change all bedding since rooms were sold out. Staff said they would try to comp part of room price but did not.
- 5/5
It was wonderful! Check in was easy and they were very accommodating.
- 1/5
Basic and tidy, but could not cover the smell of stale cigarette, perfume and urine. The fridge and ac running in the room was too noisy to sleep well. Bring your own pillows, or just avoid this place if you want a peaceful and comfortable night.
- 4/5
It was nice for the price. Not a 5 star price. Clean and convenient. Close to everything.
- 5/5
I loved how close it is to the Washington State Fair.
- 4/5
Perfect for my needs
- 5/5
The place had been cleaned up
- 5/5
Extended stay, 20 days, no issues, friendly staff, convenient location by freeway, would recommend to friends and return myself
- 2/5
Did not like anything. Sheets were dirty on check in and I had to ask for clean sheets and make her bed myself
- 3/5
A lot of people out late
- 3/5
Our flight delayed, upon arrival the office was cloesed we slept in our cars until morning, we were refunded the night but it not about the money, we need to shower and relax cause it was an all day flight. Then we were told that we only got towels and sheets changed once a week, the room was never cleaned or toilets or bath cleaned.
