Reviews
Guests generally enjoy their stay at this hotel, praising the staff, cleanliness, and unique decor. However, some guests have issues with the price, room comfort, and certain amenities.
- Unique and artsy decor
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Expensive for the quality
- Rooms can be uncomfortable or lacking in amenities
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly. Good location - close to just about everything in Richmond. Valet process was quick & easy. Clean & cute hotel. Water pressure in shower was low.
- 5/5
Loved this hotel!! Husband said this was one of his favorite places we have stayed. Historic building in historic Richmond. If I had to say one little thing that could be improved it would be water pressure but that didn’t take away from the stay. Hotel was lovely!
- 5/5
The room was nice and clean and everyone was so friendly . If in Richmond , I will stay again for sure .
- 5/5
The Quirk offered a lively and colorful stay! Looking forward to the next time.
- 2/5
The hotel was great. But when I checked in they charged me the full room fee even though I had already paid on Hotels.com. They reversed it. Then at 2am they charged the fee again. Luckily I had blocked my credit card due to the other charges. Each time multiple staff members and the managers had no visibility into what I was being charged for or any explanation.
- 3/5
Valet service is not 24/7. Can make do. Bathroom experience poor! Wash basin taps mostly sprayed outside. Poor poor water pressure and awful shower! Water leaked out shower area and made a mess in the bathroom. Hot summer, but room would not cool sufficiently. Thermostat set to 68F, but never got below 74F! Had to request fan for room. Asked for microwave, but never delivered. Overall, for cost paid the experience left much to be desired.
- 4/5
Main floor is beautiful. Great place to hangout, have drinks, have lunch or dinner.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
This is a cute, quaint boutique hotel in the heart of West Broad Street in downtown Richmond, VA. There are lots of restaurants in the local area. The hotel is also close to VCU, museums, etc, we went for a wedding weekend and the staff was great.
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay at Quirk! The service is wonderful, the design inspiring, the food delicious, and the overall feeling is that of a Southern Paris. We could live there! Instead, we made some purchases at the gift shop and took dozens of photos to direct the re-design of our home in Toronto. everything will be pink! Thank you to each and every Quirk staff member who made us feel special and cared for. Our only recommendation would be the installation of accessibility buttons to open the heavy doors. I have a shoulder injury and found them hard to open, plus it would be good for people with permanent disabilities.
- 5/5
I love the decor; all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Quirky for sure. Old dry goods store converted into a hotel. Great rooftop bar. Room was spacious and clean.

Thank you for honoring your heritage…

Nice rooftop bar We only had cold water in the shower. Bathroom fan was broken.

The location and the staff were great! Wanted to make room cooler than 68 degrees.

In general. Nice place. Recommend ceiling fans for the main lobby to move air. Even with air conditioning the lobby was quite warm

Welcoming staff.

It was beautiful in every way, our room and every where you went very unique and they really thought of everything you might need . Perfect in every way and would def stay again!

Very cool hotel in proximity to theaters, museums and quirky delicious non-chained restaurants.
- 3/5
Cute hotel, wonderful staff. Amenities are nice. Bed is comfy. Shower was cold first thing in the morning like boiler ran out.
- 3/5
Rooms are noisy, we had one bed that was very squeeky. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and it took over 30 minutes to get because they forgot about us. Rooftop was also not open, and we didn't know it was not open until we got there.
- 5/5
I earlier reviewed this on both Expedia and Trip Advisor, giving a very favorable review about the Quirk atmosphere, the chic decor. It was an experience in pink! But I'd like to say again how much we appreciated the very gracious welcome we got from the lady at the front desk the evening of April 9th. She made us feel like it was our home away from home. She even came to open the front door when we came back in with our bags. Bar staff and breakfast staff were nice too. Also the Gallery had a delightful sping themed exhibit. Fun store.
- 5/5
Great location close to great food and tourist attractions. A very unique hotel. I will definitely stay here again
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay. Room was great but bathroom a little small. Shower was cold in the morning.
- 5/5
Lovely Hotel! Room was spacious and pretty quiet,
- 5/5
Sweet spot, cute decor
- 5/5
Really cute hotel. Perfect overnight stop for my daughter and I. We had a double queen room and it was huge!! Very nice staff
- 4/5
Cute hotel…we arrived in Richmond early this past Tuesday and imagine our surprise upon learning there was a $30 early check in fee. I have been traveling for years and never heard of such a thing. What was even more special the young lady who checked us in was so clueless she couldn’t even identify where the hotel was on a city map…YIKES….there is also an older woman there with straggly black hair with tattoos who was fairly unpleasant. Last night we went to the bar for a nightcap after dinner and there was a younger woman with bi glasses and hair up who was more interested in cleaning her wine glasses than taking care of us…her loss…we tip well…Now the positives…really nice room..clean..high ceilings…bartender Jonathan was amazing and was by far the most professional person working there. Other options to consider nearby Marriott and graduate by Hilton
- 4/5
Overall really liked the hotel. Fun decor and art, loved the toiletries in the bathroom, bed was clean and comfortable. A couple of times the staff was a little less than friendly, and we had a cold shower one morning. But overall we enjoyed our stay!
- 4/5
Very good
- 3/5
Not clean. In the middle of the night all the plumbing sounded.
- 4/5
As expected. .
- 3/5
The rooms were so cold; same for the restaurant, where breakfast was served in the morning. We wore our jackets. I really disliked that breakfast was not included and if you wanted it, it was kind of self-service, with very limited (and largely unhealthy options). Also the coffee was very bad.
- 3/5
The hotel itself is in a nice building and rooms are spacious and nice. I liked the bright colors and the minimal decor. The rooms were so cold; same for the restaurant, where breakfast was served in the morning. We wore our jackets. I really disliked that breakfast was not included and if you wanted it, it was kind of self-service, with very limited (and largely unhealthy options). Also the coffee was very bad.
- 5/5
All staff were friendly and helpful with questions regarding parking and navigating the city.
- 5/5
We and our dog felt welcomed and cared for. An adorable hotel - we will certainly return here again should we find our way back to Richmond.
- 4/5
My 14-year-old daughter and I loved the decor in the lobby in room
- 5/5
The boutique charm does come at boutique prices, and the Broad Street location, while walkable to galleries and restaurants, puts you a bit of a distance from the riverfront and other parts of the city. Parking is worth planning ahead for. But as Richmond hotels go, Quirk earns its reputation as a place that feels genuinely rooted in the city rather than imported from a generic hospitality brand. It's a distinctive, worthwhile stay.
- 3/5
Valet parking is difficult and expensive, we couldn’t get the trash taken out, and every 15 minutes or so all night something clanged… so while the hotel is pretty… no real sleep at all.
- 4/5
It was a little noisey
- 5/5
Colorful decor, clean, attentive staff
- 5/5
Flirty, fun hotel with all the comforts needed for a nice stay
- 3/5
The shower got warm, but not hot, even when left to run for 10-15 minutes
- 4/5
Fun hotel
- 3/5
It presents a bit more glam than it delivers. It is a beautiful old building but there are glitches to the remodel. It felt like they were trying too hard and valued form over function and we were only there two nights. Big issue-you have to run the shower and the sink for over 5 min to get hot water to shower. It was explained that hot water had to go from the basement all the way to the top then back down to me on the 3rd floor pushing out any sitting cold water in the pipes! It felt horribly wasteful. I took a luke warm shower one day even after waiting. Go tankless or have multiple tanks! The hotel locks down at 11 and you have to call them to get back in. Small irritation-they use flat sheets on the bottom so we ended up w rumpled sheets under us and sometimes touching the mattress which gave us both the ick. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are awful. If someone was in the bathroom the huge window atop of the door meant light beamed straight onto the bed. The room was huge but there was only one chair to sit in. Easy one - put a luggage rack in the room. If they stayed in their own rooms a few days they’d pick up on things that would improve it. We didn’t get to do everything we wanted so will be back but stay somewhere else. Plus - everyone who worked there was really nice and helpful.
- 2/5
First and foremost, the biggest issue was that there was essentially no hot water. In fact, calling it “lukewarm” would be generous. When I called the front desk, I was instructed to “turn on the sink faucet and let the shower run for 15 minutes” to get hot water. At this price point, I expected to relax not conduct a science experiment. For $250+ a night, especially in the dead of winter, I shouldn’t have to perform a magic trick just to avoid taking a cold shower. Being forced to rinse off in freezing water before dinner was not exactly the luxury experience I had in mind. In addition to the hot water situation, there were literal wet paint signs taped to the walls.. handwritten in black Sharpie and stuck up with painter’s tape. It felt less boutique chic and more mid-renovation surprise. Overall cleanliness also left much to be desired. The concept of the hotel is undeniably cute, and the aesthetic has potential. But the execution, particularly in operations and overall quality is subpar to say the least. For the price, I expected far better.
- 5/5
Good comfortable rooms.
- 4/5
Everything was good.. but the hot water on the 3rd floor was weak that evening. The morning was better.. they need to fix that. But the restaurant and bar are amazing.
- 2/5
Water pressure was deplorable. I mean a trickle. This was after not having any hot water at all for the earlier part of the evening and not being able to shower before dinner. I’ve stayed here a few times and while it’s a cute aesthetic stay, the beds have never been the most comfortable this water issue just might be the last straw.
- 2/5
Staff was pretty neglectful, it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to help us or answer our questions. Valet wouldn’t even help us with bags despite the sidewalk and entryway being iced over. Overall this felt like a subpar hotel pretending to be a boutique.
- 3/5
I asked for a late check out option during check in, i was given 12:30 pm free late check out which is ok. Next morning at 8:00 being contacted by front deskt that they cant do 12:30 but 12:00 noon because room needs to be ready for next guest. ( hotel check in is 4pm for next guest). Its so unfortunate someone makes an investment of millions of dollars for a nice hotel like this and the staff with zero common sense wakes up a guest T 8am to inform of life changing 30 minutes mistake their colleague made. I dont leave reviews but being on a delayed flight made me think I should do some good and gave them some sense. Another note to owner or gm: your lobby bar showed zero availability for the dinner and when i walked in there was absolutely 1 table in the lobby restaurant while rest is empty. Another loss of possible income from a fellow hotel guest extras. Good luck
- 4/5
My only complaint was the heating unit. It ran every 15 min and sounded like a plane getting ready to take off. No sleep. They also had a snow storm a week prior. Street with valet was a sheet of ice. Extremely dangerous and almost impossible to load and unload our car. Hotel should have cleared all this for the safety of their guests.
- 5/5
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and feature excellent showers. The food at the hotel is outstanding, and the location is a major highlight. Being in the arts district, there are plenty of interesting spots to explore, along with great coffee shops and restaurants nearby if you choose not to dine at the hotel.
- 5/5
Cool and quirky hotel as the name suggests. Friendly staff, in the cool art district. Has interesting and artistic designs, beautiful bathroom. In a renovated old building with unusual space proportion.
- 3/5
The guests on my floor were extremely loud throughout the evening. There was a loud humming sound coming thru the air vent and the shower water only got tempud though it was was hot. I had a full schedule on my short stay and it was it was only for a one night stay that I did not contact the hotel for any of the fore mentioned issues.
- 5/5
Room was nicely decorated. Gorgeous bathroom. Good quality for cost.
- 3/5
Friendly staff, but dirty room that needs basic maintenance. TV didn't work (no signal).
- 5/5
Good sized room, comfortable and clean. Great location. We'll be back!
- 5/5
Very clean, modern with some older touches. Excellent staff. Lovely lobby. Restaurant and a little cafe in the lobby. Very convenient. We would definitely return.
- 5/5
The woman that worked the night shift is an actual saint. I arrived at midnight after a day of moving my house and driving from NY with my dog and kids. She saw the exhaustion on my face and jumped right in to make sure I got in easy. She helped me with my bags and my car and just ushered us in to our room to rest. I love this woman. Give her equity.
- 2/5
The stay was disappointing due to service issues. Check-in was impersonal, and staff were generally unhelpful. Although the hotel brochure stated complimentary drip coffee would be available from 5:00–7:00 a.m., it was not offered at 6:45 a.m., and we were required to purchase coffee instead. The decor is very artsy and rooms are unique and quirky but the overall lack of basic hospitality made the stay unpleasant.
- 1/5
The hotel decor is adorable and very unique. Its located downtown in a very artsy area. The reason for my rating was the staff was super unfriendly. Did not feel welcome at all. No acknowledgement when i walked in or checked in at the front desk. Also when i checked in they said there was free coffee in the lobby before 7am but when i went downstairs at 6:30am there was no coffee. When i asked about it they claimed there had been coffee?! The shower water was cold and heating did not work properly. I think i could have overlooked everything had the staff been friendly. Like the hotel concept but needs work on the customer service aspect.
- 4/5
I had breakfast and it was nice to be available on Christmas day
- 5/5
Fantastic room, great staff, great hotel style and vibes. We chose to not have a drink at the bar around 6pm, because the bar and whole downstairs area was really smokey from the kitchen. But the room was packed and people were living their best life, so, a problem. We would absolutely stay there again, and again, and again.
- 1/5
We got married over the weekend and I booked a penthouse terrace for our honeymoon night as we are not going on an actual honeymoon. The room got downgraded twice, they called me a few days before to downgrade to the 2nd from top floor with courtyard view instead of city view, due to overbooking. Then again when we went to check in. 2nd floor. No terrace. We were going to still stay and enjoy the night, we did just get married! Until they didn't accept cash and I didn't have enough available on my debit card. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. All they had to say at the check-in counter while I teared up was no cash is their policy. I had planned something special on an important day and they managed to suck the joy from me. If I had noticed on their website or something that they didn't accept cash, I would not have booked, I apparently did not read all of the fine print. I don't want to support any business that wants to push for or perpetuate a cashless society.
- 4/5
Not a great room
- 5/5
Service at front desk was awesome
- 1/5
I was the last group to board my flight from Houston therefore my carry on had to be green tagged and sent under carry. Upon arrival I was told my bag was lost which had all my credentials therefore I could not check in. They declined my refund although this was completely out of my control. I had to stay with an old college friend for the night and my trip was ruined.
- 5/5
Loved this lively, charming hotel in the Arts District of Richmond
- 3/5
The hotel itself was AMAZING - cute, quiet, good bar, great location, etc. - but the water would just not get above lukewarm, so morning shower was unpleasant to say the least.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel in a great location !!!
- 3/5
We had very limited hot water and the toilet took over 10 minutes to refill and flush. The downstairs area was great but we were a bit disappointed in the room
- 5/5
Beautifully decorated and we look being able to bring our puppies.
- 4/5
Terrific, helpful staff. Festive holiday scene.
- 1/5
Awful service, and even worse amenities. Do not recommend
- 2/5
The toilet was not properly secured to the wall. The bed does not come with a fitted sheet. It is a flat sheet that flops all around the button to flush. The toilet was also stuck and did not work properly. The icing on the cake was the valet leaving my car unlocked all night in downtown Richmond.
- 1/5
Room had no heat (space heater in corner), no hot water, painters tape in entry and old rug tape around floors. Hotel overall was dirty and run down. I'm not sure why Richmond inspection department allows a hotel to rent rooms in this condition. Worst experience.
- 2/5
The room was decorated so lovely but I did have to ask that the floor be vacuumed, a picture fell off the wall, and I told them but it was not addressed. A cleaning cloth was left on the desk. Obviously the hotel is old and super cool but more attention needs to be paid to cleanliness of the floors. There were paint splotches on the bathroom counter and shower floor. Those can easily be removed!
- 5/5
The funky, youthful atmosphere is fun and lively.
- 5/5
Great great people/staff!!
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 3/5
Not what we were expecting for price. Rooftop bar was closed for season early October and it was 60 outside.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Valet parking was super easy and prompt- not rushed but prompt. Front desk was super- polite, engaging, professional and pleasant. Hotel architecture is awesome- lobby arches and high ceilings are throw backs- room was wonderful- eclectic and definitely “ quirky “. We loved our one night stay.
- 3/5
It was fine, been slowly going downhill.
- 5/5
Staff pleasant and welcoming. Good espresso but few choices for breakfast. Room spacious and comfortable.
- 3/5
Courteous staff, they did get us into our room before standard check-in. Upon entry, though, our King Balcony room on the Penthouse floor smelled like marijuana. There were no bottles of water at the check-in desk or in the room. The water pressure in the bathroom was also very weak. Decent for a 1 night stay, but would probably come back for a happy hour in the cute lobby to get the Quirk experience.
- 5/5
Thoroughly an intentional, thoughtful hospitality experience! I travel a lot and it is always a delight to be u expectedly delighted. The team at Quirk is also all so kind and welcoming, having gorgeous rooms and art is an added bonus!
- 4/5
The concierge isn’t very helpful at all, one is better off using a search engine and figuring things out themselves. Room service told me my request wasn’t available, later that morning I made the same request in person and it was 100% available, as it should’ve been to start per the staff.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, aesthetically incredible. Friendly and helpful staff. Great lobby area. Room was clean spacious and quiet. Would love to stay there again!
- 3/5
I've been staying at The Quirk since they opened every time I am in Richmond for work. It definitely needs some updating. Also I booked multiple rooms for myself and co-workers - for some reason my room jumped up by $100 more than the others when I made a minor change to the reservation even though it was the exact same nights (Monday & Tuesday). I asked the front desk about it and 'there was 'nothing they could do'. I don't think we will be back.
- 5/5
Nice hotel, historic building
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 4/5
The biggest issue despite the nice lobby and dinning area is that it felt unsafe to leave the hotel almost any time of day. So many homeless and closed down shops and smoke shops. Soup kitchen in the street less than a block away. The is hotel would be great if in a different area.
- 3/5
The hotel was not as clean as they make it seem
- 2/5
Seemed run down and didn’t get the room I booked. Staff was too busy to actually help and find solutions.
- 3/5
While I wanted to like this hotel there were several negative that adversely affected my stay. Upon entering our room we noticed an odor and musty smell, we never could figure out what it was but everytime we left the room and came back you noticed it immediately. When I tried to open the blinds I realized they were also broken, once I got them open a few feet I was unable to close them again. I could overlook all of this if it weren’t for the last and final straw. When I went to shower there was no hot water. I called the. Front desk and they said let it run and they would reset the boiler. I let it run for 30 minutes then had to shower in barely and I mean barely lukewarm water. My 2 children were in the same boat and it was not an enjoyable bedtime. The property was cute so I hated this. I choose it for a fun place to stay while looking at colleges with my daughter, unfortunately I would recommend it again. I was going to let the front desk know when I checked out how disappointed I was but no one even asked how my stay was.
- 3/5
The staff were friendly and consistently went above and beyond, but the hotel itself has not been well-maintained and feels like it was cheaply updated to begin with.
- 5/5
Beautiful old department store converted into a wonderful hotel.
- 5/5
Love the Quirk! The cutest hotel I’ve ever seen. It’s my go-to whenever I’m in the area.
- 5/5
Artistic / beautiful aesthetic, excellent customer service, fantastic dining / 5 star culinary delight!
- 5/5
The staff are friendly and helpful. Smooth check in.
- 3/5
The hotel is really attractive but my room wasn’t very comfortable– from the mattress to how the bathroom is situated. The rooms also need a deep clean. It wasn’t filthy but it also wasn’t clean– it was just tidy. Because of the degree of dust on the curtains, the heavy yellow food spills on the floor that have been there for a while, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. The beds were also full sized, not queen, which I think was a bad choice.
- 2/5
From the vantage point of safety, I found the fact that there was not one grab bar in the shower and nothing to keep the shower floor tiles from becoming slippery to be concerning. One of the two emergency water sprinklers in our room was blocked by a support pillar. The toilet seat and cover were not tightly screwed on. The water flow in the sink has to be high so that the water will spray far enough to be usable. The room doors are rigged not to slam and to give you time to roll your suitcase behind you and into the hallway before it closes. But that also means that I can't shut and lock the door quickly if I'm not comfortable with someone following me in the corridor. The staff was helpful and friendly in responding to questions, even explaining unspecified charges on the bill. Food and drink prices were high, but to be expected. Be sure to check out The Lift one block away for breakfast -- quick & satisfying & affordable with friendly service. The decor and atmosphere suits young people best. I heard that the rooftop has great view though I didn't see it myself.
- 4/5
This is the third time we have stayed here. We like the hotel and the convenient location. This stay wasn’t quite as good as the others. The hallway had an odd smell- and our friends said their room smelled as well. The water in our shower was lukewarm and didn’t get any hotter. We would have asked for this to be resolved but we only stayed one night. That said I would stay here again. In general, I like the hotel
- 5/5
Comfortable hotel.
- 5/5
Greet boutique hotel thst was super dog friendly. Highly recommend!
- 3/5
Overall it was a fine stay. Felt the staff could have been a little more forth coming with being helpful and assisting. After our
- 4/5
Great small hotel, lovely lobby for coffee
- 4/5
There is public parking right next to the valet lot which costs 30.00, we parked in public parking for less when the valet was busy. Very cute hotel & comfortable beds. There is a nice breakfast and coffee spot called Lift right across from Quirk.
- 4/5
A very nice art-oriented (quirky) hotel. Our room was huge and clean with nice beds. I liked the osmosis water dispenser on our floor. I wish they offered coffee all day in the lobby breakfast area. They ran out of coffee pods for our room and reception didn’t have any either. The area around the hotel has some nice art galleries and theater but also seemed a little sketchy in some areas.
- 3/5
I stayed many times throughout the years. His last day I felt like a decline on the hotel the staff was very un intensive.
- 5/5
Clean, spacious room. Friendly staff. Good location. Would certainly stay here again.
- 2/5
The hotel is in terrible shape and is not clean. We had to ask for a deep cleaning and it still was not clean. The staff was courteous but not knowledgeable.
- 5/5
Fun decor, good location for Altria events and be sure to get breakfast at Perly's!
- 3/5
There was hair on the floor. Nice floors though. I like the old wood. Head board was not secure and it bangs on the wall.
- 5/5
It was absolutely amazing! Loved the atmosphere so much.
- 5/5
Very unique spaces and great breakfast. After a mix up with our room, they made it right.
- 5/5
Nice, comfortable stay.
- 5/5
The only negative is the immediate neighborhood has some shady characters walking about.
- 4/5
The property itself is very unique, colorful, quirky and well decorated. The room and bathroom were both clean, the bed was comfortable and the white noise machine was good. The building is old and in a few spots you could see areas of wear and tear. All staff I came in contact with were pleasant, professional and very accommodating when help was needed. Upon checking in the television didn't seem to connect so we call for assistance and immediately a person wS knocking on the door before we could call to let them know we figured it out. The one night stay was very enjoyable especially because everything needed was walkable. One thing to note it would have been nice to have at least extra washcloths available without having to ask.
- 5/5
Charming
- 5/5
The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. My only complaint was the bathroom: the stopper in the sink would not let the water drain & you had to jiggle the toilet to get the water to stop.
- 5/5
plenty of dining options in walking distance, fun bar, cool gallery, great views from the rooftop
- 3/5
Very average hotel.
- 3/5
The rooftop was my favorite part. The bartenders up there were amazing. The front desk staff could be a little more professional and a few of the waitstaff needed work as well, but Danny was great.
- 4/5
This place is gorgeous and I wanted to love it. We had a delicious pineapple dessert in the restaurant. The gallery and gift shop were lovely. The customer service was amazing but the room had issues. One night stand would not turn on. The shower had one temperature, extra hot. The overhead light in the bathroom kept turning off until I pressed it very hard. I know the building is very old but it made my stay challenging. I guess that is the Quirk.
- 5/5
Fun place
- 5/5
The Quirk is a great hotel for the downtown/Broad Street area of Richmond. The Hotel is fun and a little eclectic. The lobby area is inviting and the cocktails at the bar were also very good.
- 4/5
I do love the “quirkiness” of the hotel, but it is showing its age somewhat.
- 3/5
Upon arrival, we were surprised there was no bell hop service and we had to struggle with a big, heavy, awkward bulky luggage cart which forced you to go to the front of the hotel on the busier street since there was no ramp only steps on valet side. We also had to push this heavy cart far down to where the elevators are located at the back of the building. We were initially excited about being in the penthouse, but when we walked into the room which I would describe as urban rustic there were visible hairs on countertop, snacks from the previous guest on rug near bedside closest to bathroom, in shower there was a used bar of soap left on top of body wash shampoo and conditioner, after showering we noticed dirty permanent stains on one of hand towels, two lightbulbs were out in bathroom, after both Cleaning’s standing water was left in bathroom sink where you had to pull it out in the water with your hand, also coffee I have made for myself and decided it was not worth drinking was left where I left it so that was not cleaned up. There is minimal light in bedroom. Rates are unreasonable for what this hotel offers even in the penthouse.
- 3/5
Staff were kind and its a good location, but other guests were very noisy at night, there was dog poop on the elevator, the stairs weren’t an easy option, and thr coffee wasn’t great
- 5/5
Clean and smelled nice
- 5/5
Awesome! Love all the pink!
- 3/5
There is noone at the desk overnight. Surprising.
- 5/5
Love the Quirk. Unique fun vibe. Great views from rooftop bar. Friendly staff. Spacious room with comfy bed. Love the coffee bar! First visit to Quirk. Highly recommend it.
- 5/5
Great stay! Absolutely l
- 3/5
Room had only 1 tiny trash can no mats for the bath shower
- 5/5
Fine
- 5/5
Great! Would love to return.
- 4/5
The AC in room 703 was seriously underwhelming. If I hadn’t brought my own portable fan, I might’ve melted from heat exhaustion. Strangely enough, it was actually cooler outside than it was in the room—even though the thermostat was set to 68, it felt more like 75+. That was the only downside to an otherwise great stay. Looking back, it’s almost laughable how bad the AC was.
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby, great service and terrific rooftop bar!
- 4/5
Nice location
- 4/5
The hotel is very cute and boutique, has everything you need for a stay in Richmond. The rooftop bar was great and fortunately not overcrowded for the 4th!
- 4/5
Great location. Cute rooftop bar.
- 3/5
Bed was horrible. Beeping sound in the room. Something rattling in the room. Not a good nights sleep. Deck was the best part.
- 5/5
Lovely, quirky Quirk.
- 3/5
Thr restaurant closes at 9pm. No bellman Even if you’re struggling to open the entrance door with your luggage NO ONE AT THE RECEPTION DESK WILL HELP. There’s just no service.
- 4/5
My own complaint is that the room could have been cleaner
- 3/5
Very cute hotel close to downtown. The customer service was lacking. Despite requesting a late checkout, a rude housekeeper banged on the door and then told us we should have checked out already. Could have been handled better. The valet was also hit or miss with the front desk staff not being very helpful.
- 5/5
Loved this hotel! Gorgeous interior, lots of fun personality and charm. We had a really great stay here with no complaints.
- 5/5
Before staying at The Quirk I was not a fan of pink — now I’m team retro pink. The coolest vibe here! Great bar, cool ambiance, huge retro cool room. Loved it. Just sad the storm closed the rooftop. Hope to come back to experience it.
- 5/5
Great location, great service, amazing room!!! All for a great price!
- 5/5
It was perfect
- 5/5
The bedroom was very spacious and quiet.. The shower was prepped for handicap use, which we did not need, but it was very easy to use and the shower head was perfect.
- 5/5
The Quirk has become our go to hotel in Richmond.
- 5/5
The rooms were unique, big and airy.
- 5/5
It was super hot (100 degrees!) outside during our stay, so it would have been nice if the room had a ceiling fan or portable fan in the room to help get more air circulation because the room was still quite warm after turning the a/c down as low as it could go. I texted the virtual concierge (“Ivy”) and a fan was delivered quickly. All requests were responded to promptly and with great customer service.
- 5/5
The Quirk is a first class hotel. Our room was huge. The lobby is so beautiful and we had an amazing dinner there in the evening. Impressive in all respects.
- 5/5
So cute! The staff was great. The rooftop bar was fantastic!
- 2/5
This hotels is highly romanticized on Instagram and TikTok. The hotel itself is alright. It’s very cute with their esthetic and vibe but the beds are literally just the cheapest possible mattress placed on a wooden board. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything from your neighbors next door and they have connecting room doors that at one point our neighbors thought would be funny to bash on at 11pm. The connecting doors aren’t traditional. Each room has a door and then there is what looks like a swinging kitchen door connecting the rooms, so if you have annoying neighbors they can literally open and slam them for as much as they want and you will hear all of it. The location of this hotel is, in my opinion, not safe. The streets are run down and after 7pm I wouldn’t walk too far from the hotel. Put this hotel in any other location and it would shine but the area made this hotel experience very negative for us. I personally will never go back to this hotel but if you don’t care about safety then I highly recommend booking this location!
- 4/5
Love, love, love this hotel!
- 5/5
Great property - cool design elements- fabulous and friendly staff - good location.
- 5/5
We had a great stay! We loved the style of the hotel and everything was very comfortable.
- 5/5
Very pleasant experience
- 3/5
I was a bit disappointed- there was a strange odor in our room and in the hallway. When we checked in, the person was not very friendly. The area around the hotel did not feel very safe when walking to and from dinner.
- 4/5
Rooftop bar with a stunning sunset view makes me to return
- 4/5
rooftop was inaccessible un fortunately housekeeping was slow with requests
- 5/5
The rooms need a comfortable chair, all we had was a basic desk chair. Also, a little more detail to cleaning the floor - if you have a white wood floor, you need to keep it clean!!
- 3/5
I love staying at The Quirk whenever I visit Richmond. However this time around, my room really looked rundown: stained bathroom tiles, worn down tables in the room, broken HVAC (they made this right), etc. I’m not sure what’s
- 3/5
Love the aesthetics, but no hot water for a shower
- 3/5
While we wished we just stayed at home for Friday, things got back on track Saturday onward. The team was helpful during all this, but in a chaotic way that didn't help with the wedding stress.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and great service. The food was really good
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful
- 5/5
The city of Richmond had water boil for 1/2 of my stay. Brilliant that there were RO already on each floor. Staff was friendly and professional and helpful
- 3/5
The only issues I ran into was first the noise level while in my room. You can hear everything out in the hall. Second, the temperature of the water in the shower plus not be adjusted. It was very hot and no matter how much I turned the knob to cold, it just stayed the same temperature. The staff was ok. Not super friend but not rude. I’d also say the professionalism was a bit lacking for an upscale hotel.
- 5/5
Great experience
- 4/5
As its name implies, this hotel is very quirky ! Decorated mainly in pink , with lots of interesting furniture, accents and art. The staff was friendly on first glance, but a tad careless. I was traveling with my dog. I was given 2 keys to my room and none of them work! I had to haul my dog and my luggage down 3 floors again, after an already tiresome day being in traffic for hours, to have them fixed. There 2 guys at the reception desk that day, both chatty but apparently incompetent. The decor in the room was cute, with strawberries painted on the walls. I couldn't use the coffee machine as the mugs provided were too big for that specific machine. The restaurant offerings were interesting. I'd definitely stay here again if I'll travel in the summertime, as I've heard good things about the rooftop (not opened at the end of November when I was there)
- 4/5
Great place to stay. Thank you for the great hospitality. Special thanks to the staff, JaTay and Miles you are the best.
- 5/5
The decor is unique and beautiful. Bed was comfortable. Everything was clean and in good condition.
- 4/5
All was well wish they had variety off food for breakfast
- 5/5
i love pink. so i was in pink heaven. i would truly return.
- 1/5
No hot water!!!! Also, hall outside room looked like it had not been vacuumed forever. Front desk woman was rude.
- 5/5
I felt joyous when stepping into the hotel, all the light, pink, and great art. It just oozed happiness. Everyone we encountered were gracious in that southern hospitality way. Our room was quiet and just the right size. Being a dog lover, I enjoyed all the dog art especially.
- 4/5
This hotel is so beautifully done. A+ on decor and vibe. Absolutely loved it. Front of house staff seemed less than professional though. No greeting, no thanking you for choosing them, just handed you your key with your room number. Valet is not there to help you with your bags or to offer assistance. They solely park and retrieve your car and never speak to you at all. Gallery attendant seemed to be studying the whole time I was in there and never looked up from her book to greet nor say goodbye. Apart from that, the hotel is so super cool and in the heart of the city. Love the creativity and would recommend on that alone. Oh, and bar staff were all very good and attentive! They offset what the front of house lacks.
- 4/5
It is very colorful, everyone was very nice. We enjoyed the room not being an everyday hotel room.
- 3/5
The interior of the hotel is fabulous. We loved the vibe and the decor. The restaurant was really delicious. It would be great to have a little more customer service- like people to help with luggage, and some better understanding of the area around and in the hotel. No one told us anything except for giving us a print out of some
- 5/5
Place to stay.
- 4/5
Service was great, but the walls were paper thin. The bathroom also had no hot water and the tiles were dirty. Nice room but not worth the price
- 5/5
A beautiful and unique property from the minute you arrive. Restaurant, rooftop bar, gallery, coffee shop and a friendly, artsy feel. Loved the vibe and the locals love it too!!
- 5/5
We LOVED this hotel!! Such friendly and helpful staff. The location is great. It is such a cute space and the Bar offerings are great. Rooms are very spacious.
- 4/5
The hotel is very pretty and staff are nice. Amenities are great as well. Only two things will need improvement: tidiness and sound isolation. During my stay, I can feel hairs on carpet (not mine lol) and I can hear neighbors’s voices.
- 5/5
I loved everything about my stay. From the spacious room and great service, to the complimentary Prosecco at checkin and easy electronic tipping for staff.
- 4/5
This is a great boutique hotel in a cool part of Richmond. It’s the downtown art area, only comment is that some of the common parts look a little run down. The carpets outside the lifts are very run down and grubby but overall the hotel is terrific. The roof top bar is wonderful as is the restaurant in the lobby.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, spacious room, great views. Comfortable. Great location.
- 4/5
The hotel is fine, it is clean and comfortable. The room is well equipped and has a fridge and coffee machine. The street it is on is not good. Closed shops, vape shops, thrift shops. It is surrounded by a university campus.
- 5/5
Great stay!!!
- 3/5
Didn't feel like anyone was really interested that I was there other than the bartender and the guy checking people up to the rooftop. The bartender should probably be the manager. So nice. Cute hotel though. :)
- 4/5
Excellent service, good location. Decent bar and entertainment space.
- 5/5
They thought of everything!
- 5/5
The hotel was so beautiful and bright. The design was stunning, the rooms are huge, the service was fantastic and the food was great. The gallery gift shop was so unique. I love all the little details in the rooms (like the cloud white noise machine). I just couldn't stop smiling when I was there. This hotel is a destination!!
- 4/5
Nice enough place but just not my style I suppose.
- 4/5
Staff super friendly, beautiful vibes and esthetics.
- 5/5
A total hidden gem! Staff was very courteous, clean facility, plenty of amenities, great rates for the experience. Great hotel experience with an ekletic
- 5/5
I loved my stay here! The hotel is beautiful and the staff very friendly. We loved our room 🍓. My only complaint is that it took multiple calls to get the heat in our shower fixed…that was kind of a bummer. The valet parking was quick and easy. They were also able to accommodate a late checkout for us!
- 5/5
Perfect for our girls trip - great location, easy to get around. Loved it!
- 5/5
Very cute hotel. Nice roof bar. Quiet
- 3/5
No hot water in our room was the only downside.

- 3/5
Everything was great except for the A/C — it wasn’t working properly. Luckily, the weather wasn’t too hot, but my husband still felt uncomfortable. We really liked the water dispenser idea — very eco-friendly and convenient for guests!
- 3/5
I previously called to request early checkin and a conference space which they promised to accommodate. Unfortunately, this did not happen and when they promised to text me with an update, I did not receive one. I had to check in again with the front desk if any rooms were available. Also, the hotel is very loud within the room from the outside, and my expectations were not met despite the positive reviews. The service was lacking and the space is dated.
- 4/5
The location within Richmond's Arts District suits the hotel's vibe. Great food at And Dim Sum a block away. We'd go back.
- 5/5
Cute boutique hotel with large lobby, large rooms and an oversized bathroom. Perfectly located for a quick weekend getaway!
- 5/5
This was a great property for our stay. The staff was friendly and responsive. It was a pleasure to stay here!
- 5/5
This was our first time in Virginia and we couldn’t have stayed at a better hotel. From the moment we arrived we were treated by friendly staff and everything that we ordered from the cafe and bar was excellent. We look forward to staying there again.
- 3/5
Also during check in there were 3 individuals available for check in - none of them greeted us with a smile - certainly not typical for the front desk personnel. The woman that checked us in did not offer any information other than to hand us an outdated page of the hotel amenities and local restaurants/bars that might be of interest (one of which has been closed for at least two months). I would not recommend staying at The Quirk at this time.
- 5/5
The Quirk is a great hotel. Quirky in a terrific way…visual, esthetic service all above and beyond our expectations!
- 5/5
Super quirky, very unique.
- 5/5
It is a wonderful and fun hotel.
- 2/5
The hotel has a hip design and vibe with a great lobby bar. Unfortunately, none of the 3 rooms they put me in had any hot water on check-in, that evening, or the next morning. The night manager blamed it on very old boilers.
- 5/5
We had a great trip! Such a cute hotel-just need to work on pilows and covers!!
- 4/5
Quirk is a cute boutique hotel with decent accommodations. There service was alright with ridiculously overpriced valet services-we were leaving early in the morning and had to retrieve our own car, so we paid $30 to have our car parked a block away. We chose this hotel because it was pet friendly-another $75 fee, but there was no place to take our dog out in a 4 block radius. The room itself was nice and everything was very clean. It was also very conveniently located and easy to find. It was certainly not worth what we paid, but it wasn’t a bad experience.
- 3/5
Noisy people in the hallways at night
- 5/5
Nice rooms. Clean large.
- 5/5
Love this place and my room.
- 5/5
Warm and welcoming
- 5/5
Absolutely love the vibe here definitely coming back again
- 4/5
We didn’t have any hot water so we had to take a cold shower.
- 4/5
The only comment is I wish when we checked in they would’ve told us we needed reservations to dine. We really wanted to do the brunch on Sunday and waited till 1030 to come down when it opened only to be told that there was no room that they were sold out with reservations . Had I known that I would’ve made reservation when I checked in
- 5/5
Great service, restaurant was excellent and so was our server.
- 4/5
The staff at reception was great, as was the food and wait staff. The housekeeping staff was blasting their music while cleaning rooms and two house keeping staff got into an argument and when another guest and I popped our heads out they told us to mind our own business an go back to our rooms. The other guest asked them to keep it down (she was on a work call) and they turned the music up. Disappointing as all the other staff was fantastic.
- 5/5
This hotel was great. Very clean, restaurant was fantastic and service was impeccable.
- 4/5
It's really busy in the lobby with the active restaurant which is awkard when you are trying to check in and even just grab a simple bite to take up to your room (no room service). But it's really cute and pretty and the rooms are huge and comfy.
- 1/5
Didn’t expect it to be this bad
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel! Friendly staff! Great food and drinks! Will recommend!!
- 5/5
Cute trendy hotel
- 5/5
The welcome glass of Prosecco
- 4/5
The overall stay was good. The one negative is I had put the Do Not Disturb doorhanger on the outside of the door. I didn't need my room refreshed. It was done anyway. I would have like for that simple request to be followed. For future reference.
- 5/5
Unique furnishings and decor. And it was lovely decorated for the holidays. I would love to come back.
- 5/5
This hotel is so cute. Great breakfast options and a very nice staff. The hvac in our room was a little loud but overall a really charming and lovely place!
- 5/5
It was a fun, artsy property, with a complimentary prosecco. Cooffee, food, libations on site. Clean. Lots to walk to...
- 5/5
Incredible!
- 5/5
We stay here a couple times a year since I moved from RVA 5 years ago. There’s hands down no better place to stay. Being from RVA, this is the epitome of Richmond culture, art and architecture. Foods always great, rooms are always amazing. They stopped giving the free waters in your room tho, I don’t know why. Covid cutbacks I guess. Otherwise staff is always going out of their way to accommodate guests needs. Stay here and walk to Tarrants for dinner, go across the street and see a play, shop at the gallery. It’ll be a lovely stay.
- 5/5
Loved our stay!
- 5/5
This is beautiful hotel. Love the decorations. Rooms are great and have lots of space
- 4/5
Hot water wasn’t working in my first room. The penthouse was nice but light bulb in shower was out and the out they to install was not good and looked cheap for the penthouse
- 3/5
Not quite up to the Quirk standards--fitness machines (all three of them) were broken, coffee maker didn't work (and was dirty), safe was locked.
- 5/5
This hotel is as pretty as it looks on social media!! It is one of the prettiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Our room was super comfortable everything about it was comfortable the pillows, the bed, the air, the shower, the bathroom and sound machine. I suggested they sell that in the gift shop there which was lovely. The ambience is truly gorgeous. I think it epitomizes Richmond Virginia as a gem scattered around the city. They also have a restaurant the breakfast was excellent. They have small bites and a dinner menu a beautiful bar and then they make an excellent cappuccino in the morning.
- 5/5
The decor and the gift shops are amazing
- 3/5
not what we expected. Very noisy.
- 5/5
Perfect stay. Hotel has everything you need. Loved the bar and cafe in the lobby.
- 2/5
We didn't feel like this stay lived up to our expectations. The lobby is truly beautiful, but the rooms were just normal or perhaps a little less.
- 5/5
Housekeeping can be a little better
- 4/5
We would've liked water in the fridge, but other than that the staff was very friendly and helpful and our room was comfortable and clean.
- 5/5
We loved having a mother daughter weekend and staying at Quirk. Such a charming hotel, with lovely decor and kind employees.
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel! Very kind and accommodating staff.
- 5/5
Love the color pink!
- 5/5
Lovely!
- 5/5
This was my second time at Quirk and I will definitely be back.
- 5/5
We stayed at the Quirk last weekend. It’s a charming hotel in a reimagined old loft building. The lobby was large but the clever use of lighting and a mix of seating to make it warm and welcoming. It had a wonderful vaulted ceiling and large windows. Our room was spacious with large windows. It was also nice and quiet. We’re recommending the quirk already to our friends
- 5/5
Such a charming, artsy, upbeat place. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Room was spacious, and well equipped!
- 5/5
Super clean, very beautiful, large rooms, lots of options (rooftop, lobby, courtyard), great staff. Loved it.
- 5/5
Unique and beautiful hotel. The suite I stayed in was spacious with a balcony and views of the city. Even the private access hallway on the penthouse floor was all glass on one side to let you enjoy the views and the natural light. You are surprised and delighted by a “secret” outdoor private courtyard with flowers, rooftop bar and twinkling lights, amazing staff, and “quirky” art. Elegant, youthful, unpretentious & still luxurious.
- 2/5
We received a note the kitchen was closed unexpectedly for brunch , no room service David the valet was the best thing about the hotel. Over priced lots of hype they need to get some good management perhaps. Good place for a roof top bar drink or cocktail to see the pretty lobby. Would not stay there again.
- 2/5
Room was dirty. Paid nearly $500 for a night and was pressured for tips in almost every interaction. Couldn't get room to cool off, was hot all night. Little fridge was noisy. Room was nice from an architectural and decoration standpoint but doesn't make up for negatives. I expected so much more when spending that much.
- 5/5
We loved this place can't wait to go back.

I throughly enjoyed my stay here. The

Great historic space
- 5/5
Fantastic stay! Awesome boutique hotel! Top notch amenities, and guest service. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Excellent service, beautiful lobby and lots of historic charm. Our concierge, Ivy, was very helpful and accommodating. Parking is at a premium which was the only downfall.
- 4/5
Not a very kid friendly hotel but if you didn’t have kids it’s a great spot. A little on the fancier side. You will hear EVERYTHING in your room at night. From the street to the sound machine in the room next to you. Other than that very clean & reasonably priced.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 3/5
Everything at this hotel from food and drinks to parking is expensive. A man was stabbed outside while I was walking on the sidewalk right next to the hotel. Valet takes forever to fetch my vehicle. They made me late for meetings. Had to ask where my vehicle was every morning after requesting 30-40 min before. Won’t stay again. It’s cute, but probably just good for having a weekend brunch.
- 5/5
Safe, quiet, cute. Very demure.
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel close to VCU. But lots of great restaurants near by. Enjoyed roof top bar and lobby brunch!
- 2/5
Dirty room, very loud and noisy.
