Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its friendly and accommodating staff, cleanliness, and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is often praised, although some guests have had issues with the food quality or availability. The location is a point of contention, with some guests appreciating the river view and others finding the surrounding area sketchy or run-down.
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Inconsistent breakfast quality or availability
- Mixed feelings about the location
- 3/5
The rooms smelled musty. One had pet odor and remnants of cat food on the floor. Rooms had minor maintenance issues and lack of sufficient lighting. Staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby is pleasant.
- 3/5
The facility is poorly maintained and showing its age. The cleanliness was substandard. There were stale french fries in my bathroom and random Bobby-pins. We also had to remove a centipede.
- 2/5
I get it its hard to run a property when there isn't any business coming their way I was forced to stay here because I booked a hotel a week before Ironman 70.3 Rockford that i was participating, but gosh I wish they had more traffic to be able to upkeep their facilities they "tri" but definitely falling short their rate couldn't be justified they staff was super friendly and nice

HOTEL WAS NICE AND STAFF WAS HELPFUL.
- 5/5
Pool was down for just routine maintenance so that was a bummer. Just bad timing. But the staff were so kind.
- 2/5
The rooms have a weird smell
- 5/5
Expected it to be creepy, it was actually super pleasant!

no access to pool or outside decks as advertised.

It was alright. I booked a room advertised as a river-view. Come to find I had a view of the parking lot. Overall, just seemed a little bit dated and dirty. Seemed like a new carpet would go a long way.
- 5/5
Food was excellent at the hotel.
- 4/5
Very clean room! Breakfast was delicious! The lady greeting people and cleaning up after the breakfast dishes was so nice and friendly! Loved the experience! When we got to our room there was no bar of soap to wash our hands in the bathroom but other than that everything went well!
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
Such a great place to stay. Hotel is beautiful! Room was huge. Every space was clean, accessible. And the staff was outstanding!
- 5/5
Each and every one of the staff members were incredible. The rooms were exceptionally clean. My family and I will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Outside of the building did not look great but the inside was really nice, charming with vintage wood accents, clean, very friendly & helpful customer service. Shower pressure was great! Breakfast staff very friendly.
- 5/5
A beautiful and well kept property with a very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was of good quality even though selection was small because we were there on a Sunday night/ Monday and there were very few guests in the building.
- 5/5
Great location on the river, staff was super accommodating and nice.
- 5/5
Excellent experience and ms Deanna made sure me and my family accommodations were met and exceded
- 3/5
So hotel over all is just ok. The pool was super cloudy so we didn’t swim. Room 206 is right over the kitchen or bar. So anytime they move chairs or tables around you hear it. Sat night the noise didn’t end until about 11:30 pm and started right back up at around 5 am. If we stayed anything more than a night I would have asked to be moved. It was pretty loud and kept waking up the family. Tbh I will not stay here again. Just go to a holiday inn or something equivalent.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was hot and plenty.
- 4/5
Excellent in every way except the breakfast! It wasn't bad, but it wasn't "excellent"--not many choices and not enough coffee. Still, the rest of it was excellent and this is our go-to whenever we visit Rockford for any reason. Staff is wonderful.
- 3/5
The place is ok, The breakfast was quite sad, Not even any fruit, I will stay there again just skip the breakfast.
- 5/5
The entrance is amazing with beautiful woodwork, fireplaces and a bronze masterpiece. The staff was so friendly and helpful! The hot breakfast was ample and satisfying. We enjoyed our stay!

It was a nice property, the staff were very polite and helpfuul.

We stayed at Riverview and had dinner in hotel’s Oak and Embers restaurant. It was great with some vegan choices I very much enjoyed, even not being vegan. Host Santos was great! He described dishes for us, engaged in conversation and when we asked about all the unique furnishings, and banquet area plans. Afterward, Santos gave us a fabulous behind the scenes tour of the sultan room and some collections that past owner Jim Vitale had acquired for the resort, as well as remodel for banquet plans. Santos is a true asset to this hotel. It made our trip!!

Thank you for a wonderful stay
- 3.5/5
Breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were simple, but clean and roomy with updated bathrooms. The historical architectural pieces are a neat addition. The soaps were a mix of various types and no handsoap. The property shows its age a little and smells a little old. Pool is very small. The river view is scraggly and doesn't live up to its potential, but is right across from a nice city park.

It was a beautiful facility, clean, and very friendly and helpful staff.

It was a beautiful facility,...
- 3/5
The Wi-Fi in the hotel was poor. There was no coffee available before 6 AM. We were not able to contact any staff member early in the morning. No one was at the desk and nobody answered the phone.
- 3/5
Long check in process, room wasn’t ready. Basic continental breakfast, room had a smell, pillows. Had a smell. Wouldn’t stay here again. Not worth the price. Very overpriced.

Okay
- 4/5
The Breakfast was solid and the AC worked great..!
- 1/5
Our sink pipes leaked water all over, there was poop flung on the bathroom walls, the doors/walls were dirty, the carpet was buckled, the TV input didn’t work. I was so overly disgusted with this hotel.
- 5/5
The hotel was under construction in some areas, but this did not affect our stay in any way. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The room was comfortable. There is a restaurant on site that opens at 5pm. There is little information online about it, but it is not a high end restaurant as depicted. It has a small menu, and instead of chef prepared items seemed to be frozen food that had been heated up. Part of my order was still cold in the middle. If you avoid the cafe for dining, the hotel is a great stay.
- 5/5
This was a quick, last minute, one night stay. I loved the
- 5/5
Very nice.
- 4/5
The staff is great. The room did have a must outdoor and the widow did not open. They had a hot breakfast of eggs, sausage, biscuits, and potatoes plus the usual free breakfast stuff.
- 5/5
Clean room 👌
- 4/5
The staff were really helpful and friendly, they just seemed overworked and understaffed. It turns out there was some highschool sports team staying there at the same time, and so the breakfast in the morning was gone by the time we got down there. The cook did make more omelets which were pretty good. Overall it was a pretty good stay, just a few minor hiccups that could have been avoided. Again cant state enough how great the staff was with everything.
- 5/5
We were looking for a same night place to stay with dogs on a road trip and this fit the bill. Good location, spacious room, comfortable bed and pillows. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good breakfast was a nice bonus! Great view and park across the river is great for kids and pups.
- 5/5
Room was very big. Breakfast was descent. Room was very clean
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Hotel is clean & well maintained, rooms are spacious and the staff members are some of the nicest people you'll meet.
- 3/5
We got there at 3:00pm as that is the check in time and had to wait for almost an hour for our room to be cleaned with our kids in the lobby. We went down to breakfast around 9:00am just to find everything empty. Room was clean and front desk staff were nice.
- 5/5
breakfast was fine and the staff member was fast, cheerful, and efficient!!
- 5/5
Nice
- 3/5
Clean room. Bed comfortable. Breakfast picked over and subpar. Got there at 8 am and nothing was left although they were in the process of making more. Pool was closed early. Gym missing equipment and flooring is carpeted- hesitant to do any floor exercises. View of river while eating breakfast was nice. Staff was friendly.
- 5/5
Staff was great Room was nice Beds were comfortable
- 4/5
Staff was amazing. They were understaffed with multiple large groups checking in. We were not in a rush so we came back in the evening. They moved us to a river view room however it was under the breakfast buffett. Do not accept room 206 unless you are first to breakfast. Breakfast was great and the staff was over accommodating for those who sleep in.
- 5/5
Very nice bed and pillows. Quiet
- 4/5
This hotel would’ve been awesome back in the day! It has a very old world European feel with all the opulent dark wood work. We stayed in a suite which was very large with two bathrooms and lots of room to spread out. The breakfast was ok and the condition of the property was dated and worn. They are in the process of renovating the first floor. Once the hotel is fully renovated, it will be a great place to stay. The bed was very comfortable and we rested well. The view from the riverside is pretty quaint.
- 3/5
I went to the restaurant for an adult beverage and the view was lovely. Sadly, the service was pretty lousy even though I was the only customer for at least 10 minutes. The beds were comfortable, and breakfast was night. Overall, I felt like it was overpriced for what it was.
- 3/5
Property seems like they are trying to fix it up. Smells bad and sketchy neighborhood.
- 4/5
We weren't aware of an event going on that weekend so children were running around and noisy...restaurant need a better menu and a little updating to the rooms..
- 3/5
*Per mgmt: Expedia bookings apparently only allows you to face the parking lot and NOT the river, but if you’re lucky you might see a bird…I called bs on that immediately but what can you do that’s either an absentee owner restriction or a semi-discriminatory restriction…I picked this place out of the list my filters offered for the location, then just stared at an abandoned parking lot of a decaying city. *Door isn’t even flush with the trim & you can literally see through them if you put your eye to it, they could slip something through it, or something as big as a mouse could crawl underneath it, let alone roaches. (See others’ bedbug comments) *Bathroom is nice *You can hit the elevator button, use the stairs, get to your floor & be practically to your room before it even arrives (which for Expedia users is the ground floor staring UP at the parking lot where your room could also be accessed from a concealed position from outside the window if a person was creative). There’s some cameras, but not enough *It seems like booking through Expedia is frowned upon with them, the rate Expedia gives is where you get the bait & switch. You think this place looks appealing and it makes its way through the filters to come away as a good option, then you get treated to a shoddy and barely secure room with no view, a door that has a nice bright halo around it all night, an elevator that’s slow, and the risk of pests
- 3/5
The staff is friendly and check in was easy. The renovated rooms are nice and I felt like they were clean. There was some wear and tear on some of the furniture. There was a coffee maker but no water to use in it. No vending machines on the floors to buy water. The breakfast however was awful. No juices, sausage was totally out. There were biscuits but no butter. Potatoes were not good. There was some kids yogurt and some cereal.. A gallon of milk. Needless to say, we didn't eat it and we left. Worst breakfast I have had in a hotel ever. So we paid 30 bucks to get breakfast somewhere else. Luckily, we were only there a night. The elevator needed major cosmetic work. The outside of it had paint peeling off. There is a lot easy maintenance that could go on but hasn't. Didn't use the pool so unsure how that area was. Overall it was ok but alot of money for what we got. Wont book again.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and accommodating
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay here night person checking you in very friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
The stay was great and the staff were absolutely amazing and helpful. I did not like how we had to switch rooms due the carpets being re done and then getting transferred into a room over looking a parking lot instead of the beautiful river, which would have been nice giving that was my first rooms view and they couldn't make an expectation for me. moving almost an entire weeks worth of stuff to another floor. The room we got transferred to was a little bit to messy from stains on the wall and ceilings to parts of the floor looking like a cat was scratching on it for months. The fourth floor also did not smell the best. I always didn't like how the overnight staff would not say anything to guest that were being way to loud and running around the hotel late at night. I did enjoy the breakfast for everyone and the pool. Overall the stay would be like 3.5 out of 5
- 5/5
food and drinks were good
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay. My favorite part was the staff! The young woman working the breakfast was so nice and fun! She made my morning!
- 5/5
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Breakfast was very hot and delicious, served on dinnerware, not paper plates!! Nice room, great river views. Staff helpful and friendly!
- 5/5
Breakfast was great, very happy and kind staff. Comfortable bed and easy parking.
- 4/5
Good breakfast selection and was refreshed often or as needed
- 4/5
Breakfast was fresh and the air conditioner worked fine my overall experience was pretty good thumbs up
- 4/5
The outside does this hotel no justice. Beautiful inside decor, cute view of the river and very clean room.
- 4/5
A bit out of the way but the view of the river was lovely.
- 5/5
Great, friendly, helpful staff.
- 5/5
This hotel is my family's favorite place to stay when we come to Rockford. The staff has always been incredible, friendly, and professional. The rooms are different from any other hotel we've stayed in. We always stay in the suites and my wife and I sleep upstairs and our son sleeps downstairs. The amount of charm and uniqueness is what will always bring us back. The pool is smaller but there is a pool. Same with the gym but these aren't things that are too important for us.
- 4/5
Hotel was beautiful with a very soft bed. Lots of extra pillows a nice, clean bathroom. The staff were super friendly. Everything was amazing except I will say the only downfall is that it’s right next to an abandoned shopping center, which is not their fault of course. Also, the breakfast would’ve been good except the eggs were smelly and watery which made me afraid to eat them. Other than the eggs, the rest was delicious and it had a beautiful view of the river.
- 5/5
The breakfast was nice a there is a fantastic view of the river from the restaurant
- 4/5
Welcoming staff. Clean rooms.
- 1/5
They dont seem to clean the hotel. Dirty bathroom, hair in sink and on floor. Trash still in room at check in. Hotel in general is dated and needs a makeover. Ended up leaving and not staying.. Wont be back.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
Nice
- 3/5
I would only give it a 3 star rating, due to not being able to use the pool, because it was closed on 3/15/26. This would have been so refreshing.
- 5/5
Nice, clean, friendly
- 5/5
Was more than pleased with the accommodations. River view room with a lovely sunrise overlooking the Rock River. The breakfast on Monday March 9th was tasty and the dining room attendant was lovely- she mentioned she has working there for several years. This will definitely be our go-to for future Rockford trips!
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly, front desk gentleman and host during breakfast were phenomenal. Pool was alright, but pool towels could be bigger. Gym area is little weird better than nothing tho. All in all pretty good 67
- 3/5
Breakfast room minder was very polite and attentive though we didn’t eat much.
- 5/5
Very clean and professional experience and great hospitality from the staff with a beautiful restaurant and great breakfast.
- 4/5
The woman at check in was very sweet. The lady at check out was very sweet as well. We asked about the library and she showed it to us and also pointed out some cool historical items in the hotel.
- 5/5
Resturant was good. People were good. Room was good
- 5/5
Spacious room, charming atmosphere, and helpful staff.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Staff really freindly
- 5/5
Had a wonderful time
- 5/5
Loved it really nice room
- 5/5
Older hotel with incredible warm wood features upon entering the lobby. The rooms are large and updated with comfortable bedding.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay
- 5/5
Everything always stands out to me, I’ve been booking at this hotel for 5+ years and I’ve never been disappointed. Hotel rooms are always clean, spotless and never have a complaint.. very reliable very accessible. Anytime I need a room, I’m able to just get on here and reserve as I please.. building is always quiet never had a noise complaint.. my most favorite thing about the hotel is how spacious the rooms are! It brings me so much comfort. The back part of the hotel the view of the river is nostalgic to me. I love it, especially at night time.. overall I absolutely love love love this hotel !
- 4/5
If I need to come back for the same purpose, I would most likely stay again.
- 5/5
Room was clean and spacious. The front desk and restaurant employees we interacted with were excellent! Very impressed and would come again.
- 4/5
The staff was very nice.
- 5/5
Absolutely worth what we paid. Terrific staff was super friendly
- 4/5
Clean and very courteous staff. Very good free breakfast and excellent view of the Rock River
- 3/5
Pool needs filter running to keep water clean. It was a lot of debris in the pool.. Room was decent enough..but would have liked to get in pool.. overall okay
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Dining pretty slow and lots of items not available when we came down for breakfast. Overall we'd stay agsin.
- 4/5
Nice atmosphere. Great breakfast service.
- 1/5
The room wasn’t properly cleaned. There were bugs, spiders and box elder type-bugs. There were hairs left in the bathroom, on the counters, AND in the sheets. It was disgusting. The hotel smelled stale- not a place we will be returning to.
- 5/5
Room was very clean, quiet Hotel which is nice.
- 3/5
The breakfast was the best part
- 4/5
The staff was VERY courteous and helpful! Used big smiles!
- 4/5
The lobby was beautiful! Great breakfast. Nice view of river from dinning room and our room!
- 4/5
Yes everything was great
- 5/5
The amenities and the staff are awesome.
- 4/5
Room was clean, as we're all public areas. Staff were all very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was very nice, a good variety. Overall, the place needs to continue with the upgrades to maintain the beauty of this scenic hotel.
- 5/5
We did not utilize the breakfast option. The hotel itself looks older but put together nicely. The room was clean, bathroom was updated and roomy. The walls felt thin, could hear noise. We didnt care that the cable box was behind our dresser, made it challenging to turn channels if directly facing tv.
- 5/5
breakfast was delicious and staff were so lovely and helpful
- 4/5
Some dust on the house phone. Very quiet. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Comfortable mattresses
- 4/5
Maybe a waffle machine? BLOOD ON COMFORTER! EWWWWW We enjoyed the tour..especially the SULTAN SUITE.
- 4/5
The rooms are very spacious, beds are comfortable, staff are very professional and friendly, towels are clean and soft, and the soap smells REALLY good. The halls, bath, and rooms were clean. The breakfast was hot and plentiful. The bed was comfty as well. The only negative is pulling into the lot; you have to drive through the shopping center parking lot, which was odd. But there was plenty of parking even with the hotel being almost full. The cost was worth the stay.
- 3/5
Needs updating. Carpet in hallways are filthy and completely worn out. Windows in dining hall need a major cleaning. The filth kind of ruined the river view.
- 4/5
Great service and good food for dinner. Breakfast was great. Friendly staff.
- 3/5
A little surprise by the “river view” Yes it was visible but nature was kinda overgrown between hotel & the river
- 5/5
Nice and helpful workers!
- 2/5
We were given a room under the restaurant and breakfast room so the noise was incredibly loud. push of chairs and tables. the horrible sounds lasted until 12:30 and night and started again ast 6:00 in the morning. When we complained the lady at the desk said they would give us a small discount, which I said was not enough for a loss of sleep. She said she would talk to her manager. She told me he would be contacting me by Email. He did not contact me and I have not seen a refund. I recommended they not use that room if at all possible. She they do not usually use that room but the place was full. I asked I got that room because we checked in at 4:00 plenty early and Our reservation was made over 3 weeks in advance. Her answer was that the rooms were assigned in the morning and could not be changed. Expedia needs to deal with management.
- 4/5
Was clean and comfortable-the area across from parking lot sketchy
- 3/5
Properties decline over time due to failure to maintain them. This property is a prime example of faded glory.
- 4/5
There was not much of a variety at breakfast. The rooms were dated there were some stains on the carpet. When I checked in at the front desk he was very nice. Then my key didn't work and I came back and nobody was there for 15 minutes. That was frustrating. The room had a hole in the door that was covered up by a towel. The rooms need to be updated. I did sleep good it was quiet.
- 5/5
Breakfast was good, coffe was hot. Nice property
- 3/5
Good
- 5/5
The hotel is filled with many cool artifacts from different periods. A bar from Al Capones mansion if stone fountains, a solid brass pig with a cool story. And the bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in for a hotel, the staff are all so professional and courteous. If you want to have a great experience in Rockford and you want to stay in a place that is comfortable then Rverview Inn is the perfect place for you. Don’t let me forget to mention Oak & Amber, I think it’s the correct name of the restaurant that’s located inside the hotel. It used to be called Cliffbreaker’s and is known to be one of the best restaurants around the Rockford area, it’s currently being renovated and will reopen in the future with an updated customer area with some amazing food. The staff that I met working there were some of the most amazing people I encountered while in town.
- 3/5
Staff was great but hotel needs a lot of cleaning in hallways. Definitely opportunity on the smell as well. It seem urine if dog was spotted all over the carpet. Pool need more cleaning and painting.
- 5/5
Thanks!
- 5/5
Beautiful Hotel very friendly staff we will be back
- 5/5
Stayed one night clean, friendly, breakfast was typical hotel fare
- 2/5
The website pics were misleading. There was a view of the river from the room however it overlooked a railroad track and downed trees and sticks. I expected more for the price. Room was very noisy. It was under the dining room and we heard chairs moving, people walking, etc
- 5/5
This hotel was very unique super quiet. Our room was actually amazing. I enjoyed my time there.
- 3/5
Very long corridor with elevator and stairs at one end. Bath had one hook above the toilet. No other hooks. One short towel rack, enough for 2 washcloths. Worst of all, shower stall had no grab bars or anything else to latch on to. Neighboring room noise easily heard, as was incessant grinding noise of an electric motor with bad bearings. Out the window could see trash
- 3/5
Ok, not in great condition
- 4/5
Nice staff
- 1/5
Avoid this place like the plague. You might actually GET the PLAGUE. If I hadn't "pre-paid" on Expedian, we wouldn't have stayed.
- 1/5
I would take this hotel off your selection. The hotel room is very dirty, I had to remake the bed as it wasn’t made properly. there was only cold water from the shower. The breakfast was inedible. The elevator seems unsafe. We only stayed one night but they allow pets. I’m pretty sure we brought home fleas from there which transferred to our cats. This hotel needs to be demolished. If I could take back our stay I would as I regret it more than I can express. The only positive thing is the staff are very kind, I feel badly for them. They really go out of their way to try to help.
- 5/5
I love this place. Old-school motor inn next to the Rock River. Peaceful, quiet, no frills, nice staff, affordable. Ditch the bland side-of-the-interstate hotels and go back to your roots. This is the travel America I remember, and it soothed my soul.
- 3/5
Shower has no pressure and the water is cold/warm
- 4/5
Older hotel, room was clean, next to abandoned strip mall
- 3/5
This property needs an update badly. Especially the carpets. My room carpet was so dingy & stained I wouldn’t even walk barefoot. There was no hot water in the shower or sink just barely lukewarm. The elevator needs an upgrade as well & the ice machines were out of order. Some TLC would go a long way here. The staff were very friendly & accommodating & the lobby is nice. They do have a breakfast area that looked nice & food smelled good but I didn’t eat the breakfast. I probably wouldn’t stay here again unless they did some updating/deep cleaning.
- 3/5
Not a bad place to stay, walls are thin and there was party balloons from in our room. Besides that a unique little hotel.
- 3/5
Upon entering the lobby, I could see beautiful carved woodwork. The elevator broke down right after wechecked in so we had to use the stairs. We were actually ok with that since we only had small bags to carry up/down the stairs. The hallway had worn and filthy carpeting. Our room was better with updated carpet (although there were stains visable. We turned on the TV and it didn’t work. Each ti.e we turned off the TV, it didn’t start up right away.(it needed a new HDMI cable) the breakfast was minimal with scrambles egg substitute & sausages. Bisquits & gravy toast, fruit and shugary cereal. The juice was watered down. Besides that, the room was clean and the bathroom updated. The location although positioned on the river, was adjacent to a strip mall that was mostly vacant. I don't think I would stay here again. Definitely not worth the price I paid.
- 5/5
I loved this place. Not fancy but so calm. Reminded me of motels I stayed at when I was a kid. No frills, just a nice place to lay your head.
- 4/5
The staff was super friendly. The beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The carpet was old and needs replaced. The building is pretty old so it needs some updates and deep cleaning throughout.
- 5/5
Peggy Schultz at front desk is wonderful! Every other staff member has been great. Setting is on the river. Beds are super comfortable & have big thick duvets, a/c unit is new and quiet and efficient.
- 5/5
Was unplanned stop, the lobby and wood trim is pretty cool, the place itself is a little dated but fine for a night or two
- 4/5
Good place to stay. Only complaint is, they should have parking included in the price. Should not be additional
- 4/5
Customer service was top-notch. Kitchen staff even made us some food after the kitchen had closed. Great morning buffet and stunning views from the dining room and many guest rooms. This is not a cookie-cutter hotel chain and is unique with nice interior architectural features. From my understanding, the hotel is undergoing some fairly extensive remodeling. The floors and carpet were a little dirty -- but that may be attributed to them spending more time on other parts of the building right now. We needed a roll-out bed since no double rooms were available. The folding roll-out bed mattress was thin and extremely uncomfortable. In the bathrooms, the glass shower doors are extremely thin and easily broken (probably not commercial grade). Overall, it was pleasant, staff was great, food was fresh; we would return.
- 5/5
Quick check in.
- 3/5
It would have been nice to know a separate key was needed in order to get into the pool. We weren’t aware that our room key would not give us that access.
- 5/5
I'm not sure, because I haven't been here long enough

Big rooms. Will be back

This place is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in!!! Hands down. The mold was awful. The overall smell of the place was terrible.
- 5/5
Breakfast sparse. No decent sized cups for juice, and only china cups for coffee.
- 5/5
All was good. This is a very nice place.
- 4/5
Room was nice, comfortable and clean. Didnt have outlets by un bathroom my mirror to dry hair and you could hear people walking upstairs. The breakfast buffet had a few things but they honestly werent good. The silverware had many dirty with peanut butter on them still. Ended up tossing everything's and eating a bagel. Overall the hotel was nice but needs a serious overhaul to buffet taste and cleanliness.

We booked a room with 2 queen beds but were given a room with one king. Not told about the change and just walked into a room that wouldn't accommodate the number of people in our group. The ac didn't work and the room smelled like urine. When we tried to get the "right" room, we were told all the other double queen rooms were either dirty or damaged. Still waiting to see if we get our refund since we booked through Expedia and were told we have to go through them for a refund. 😒

Hotel looks like its on the verge of closing down in a neighborhood that has taken a turn for the worse. Restaurant was closed. Adjacent shopping center vacant. Seemed like half the hotel was not in use with a stairwell blocked off. While called Riverview and rooms facing east got river view, there was no access to river or walk from hotel.
- 5/5
Facility and grounds were very nice
- 4/5
Very pretty hotel. Had a European feel. Room was spacious. The hotel was quiet. Breakfast was typical but good.
- 3/5
Check-in process was quick. Front desk clerk was very friendly. Asked for a non-smoking room but the room smelled like cigarette. Front desk clerk offered to move us to another but we had already settled in. Carpets in stairway hall were filthy with black stains. The room was very clean but the carpet felt and looked dirty as well. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade.
- 4/5
Dated but beautiful. Reminds me of an older lodge from a place youd find in Branson Mo. Not great breakfast but overall a fun and comfortable place to stay. Staff was nice.
- 5/5
Great little hotel. Kids loved the pool access. Winsor pizza was phenomenal. Rooms were clean & comfortable. We will definitely be back.
- 2/5
The Hotel itself is quite outdated and a more than a bit worn. The elevator was slow and it is a lot quicker to just use the stairs if you're not carrying anything. The lobby is perfunctory and not very welcoming at all. There is an essentially deserted hotel restaurant off the lobby and for the one night I stayed there I never saw any guests eating there. The public areas aren't dirty but they're not sparkling clean either. And the wear and tear on the building is evident everywhere you look. even the luggage carts are worn, rickety and unclean. The room we had was clean but worn. There was no place to sit other than the desk chair which I found odd for a hotel room. There is a gas fireplace in the room that seemed to serve no real function other than to take up space. The air conditioning unit leaked condensation onto the carpet and overall the lighting in the room was subpar. The one high point of the room was the bathroom. It was clean (a little mold in the shower) and updated. Overall I found the stay to be bearable and would rate the hotel as a 2-star. And if I had it to do over again I would pay the few e

There is a partially abandoned strip mall next to the hotel that sits behind the McDonald’s. We noticed trash along the sidewalks and the only stores still open were a tobacco, liquor and hair salon. I did meet a very pleasant young woman who works the early mornings at the hotel and prepares breakfast, I wish I would have caught her name, as she was very personable and pleasant to speak with.
- 5/5
Gorgeous on the inside! The restaurant had great options for dinner and breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly. Room was spacious and clean. My family enjoyed the well maintained swimming pool!
- 5/5
Nice property
- 5/5
the food lady at breakfast is the best. we remembered her from last time
- 5/5
There are fast food outlets around, large empty shopping centre and large carpark right next door which had hoons at night time. Some one even ran into a light pole and police and firies then attended.
- 4/5
The location was amazing for our stay. The facility needs some TLC, cleaning, and just general cleanup of spotty update work. Our room smelled musty and damp. Dust was everywhere.
- 4/5
Extremely comfortable beds and good breakfast. The architectural details give it a lot of charm! Overall, a nice place to rest while on a roadtrip.
- 5/5
During my 4 day stay the staff was very pleasant and i did not have any issues at all. Would stay again. I was warned the weekends can get a little sketchy in the area.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed the stay here. A little off the path and it’s not a big name hotel but rooms were really nice and the staff was friendly. No issues here - would absolutely stay again. 😊😊
- 5/5
All was superb!! Pure class top to bottom!! We felt so welcomed, everything beautifuland clean that we saw!! We will stay again!!! No negative things at all!!
- 3/5
This property is in the process of being improved or brought back to it's functionality. It has some nice original elements that are appreciated, however I would expect higher quality for the price paid. That being said, the breakfast was adequate and the staff were very accommodating, friendly and eager to make your stay more comfortable.

Clean

Amazing staff super clean
- 4/5
We had a nice view of the river and the king sized bed was very comfortable.
- 1/5
We reserved a King Suite & when we walked in, the carpet was so filthy & it smelled awful. The mattress on the pull-out bed was unusable. I returned to the front desk & requested a room change, which we were able to do, but we had to bring all of our things back downstairs before we could get another set of keys and then bring it all back upstairs. And unfortunately when we got there we had really only upgraded from a 0 to a 1. Still smelly, still dirty. It was after midnight, so we decided to just get to sleep so we could get out of there asap.
- 5/5
The entrance and dining breakfast area has beautiful wood and historic item. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and modern. Used the gym and warning trails from Love Park. We would stay here again in a heart beat.
- 2/5
Definitely felt like a budget hotel.
- 3/5
Room never cleaned during stay. Evidently need to notify desk if desire, Beds were comfortable. Nice to walk along river front.
- 5/5
It was a beautiful stay and I love the boar fountain in the lobby!
- 4/5
The registration clerk was very nice and welcoming who explained services and billing to us.
- 5/5
The view of the river from our hotel room was nice. Also where we had breakfast had a wonderful view. It was close to the bike path also.
- 4/5
Overall it was good. I was there for the Rockford 70.3 Ironman and needed a place to stay that was relatively close to downtown but not on the other edge of town. I feel that there is some great potential for this hotel, especially for the next Ironmans that are happening in Rockford. If they can work on fixing up some of the cosmetic items and making sure that they have enough staff for the little bar/restaurant they had I feel they could bring back once was a highlight for them when Cliffbreakers was the spot to go to. Overall decent place and I’ll probably stay there again for the next Ironman.
- 5/5
We love this hotel. It is so clean and so convenient for when we are in town. Peggy at the front desk is wonderful as well as the entire staff. We love that this hotel is dog friendly too.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and the customer service at check-in was wonderful. Quiet atmosphere. The only slightly negative was the breakfast in the morning. Not much of a selection, however, there was still aomething to help fill our bellies. We would definitely stay again.

We were in room #342! I am positive that the mattress is very very very old! I had to go to physical therapy for my sore back!
- 3/5
The included breakfast was not very good was there about 30 minutes after it started and items were very limited
- 4/5
Good buffet breakfast..Evening there is an onsite bar & restaurant which is very convenient. Love view of river.
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 2/5
The bathroom had only one small bar of soap, no shampoo/conditioner/lotion. The room smelled musty, not sure if it was because of the pool or the river located out of my window. The bed I believe was missing sheets since it had only a comforter and duvet. Due to that I did not sleep well trying NOT to place those two items near my face. Breakfast was disappointing. Powdered eggs and non-cooked breakfast potatoes which were never replenished. Refrigerator with nothing in it(yogurt?). Couple of slices of bread and one tub of whipped butter. Again, not replenished. Like Choice Hotels buy NOT this one.
- 4/5
The room was comfortable but the Inn is old and shabby. The "free" breakfast was sparse abd out of many items by 9am.
- 5/5
Cool property
- 4/5
This is an older hotel that has been updated. It is in a beautiful treeline on the edge of the Rock River. Neat pictures of local sites on the walls. Water pressure is not great. Staffing issues caused our initial checkin to be delayed. The included breakfast was also delayed. Overall, the hotel is a decent value for the price. We would stay here again
- 3/5
Love the river look and being a nice location. Windows in room were very duty and by the dining area, Room was clean. Breakfast was not good.

The room was clean. Rooms were not ready until 4 Toilet in the suite ran all the time.

The person at the hotel desk would not check in anyone even a few minutes before the check in time. Once the check in time arrived, almost everyone in the long line was told their room was not yet available. For those of us going to an event, we had no place to get ready. Later, after returning, the people in the room next door were very loud and even though it was midnight, the hotel declined to do anything about it. On the plus side, one desk clerk was very nice, the room was fine and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was mostly clean.
- 4/5
Staff were nice, room was clean, beds comfortable
- 3/5
No room service for the three days I was there and the power was out in the entire building this morning before checkout.
- 4/5
Very clean and the African American lady that works at the front desk was amazing. Walls are thin breakfast wasn’t too good but overall I would stay again for what I paid vs what I got.
- 5/5
My Brother had his wedding there, convenience was the main reason..
- 5/5
It was a very pleasant day queen, and comfortable.
- 3/5
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the only reason we booked was so our 3 year old could swim, upon checkin we were told the pool was out of service. went to breakfast at 930 on a Saturday morning supposed to be open till 10 and was already shut down
- 3/5
The TV did not work. Called front desk, who tried to help me over phone but did not work. He said he would come to room to fix but never showed up. Bathroom sink drain also did not work.
- 5/5
Always like staying at this hotel whenever I come to Rockford
- 5/5
Was here for New Balance Basketball tournament for our son. Hotel was clean & staff was wonderful. Car safety was good as well.
- 1/5
Did not get the room/bed type that I ordered. I was never informed of any change. Terrible night sleep because of poor bedding and son had to use a cot. I could have had a much nicer hotel with these different accommodations, but I passed because they didn’t offer two queens. Would not allow early check in. Front desk did not try to correct anything right away, as I had to ask.
- 3/5
Neighborhood was a bit run down. Tv in bedroom was inoperable. Beautiful view of the Rock River fro our room.
- 5/5
Was a very nice and quiet hotel
- 3/5
It was just OK. The beds were extremely comfortable. Everything else was a bit shabby; had the feeling that some people were living there.
- 4/5
Good hotel
- 5/5
Good stay
- 4/5
The people that work there are great. The bad part is there was barely anything for breakfast the whole weekend everyone pretty much had to eat toast or cereal. All the guests were mad at breakfast each day and no one was there to even do refills. The pool was working which is why I picked the hotel so it was kind of a bummer but it could be a very nice hotel if some things were done.
- 3/5
The ambience was unique and charming, the staff was helpful and courteous, and I loved the view of the river from the dining area. However, our room should not have been available for guests. The mini fridge was missing and there was a mess on the wall and carpet where the fridge belonged. They offered to switch rooms, but it was late, and we were heading to a show. Sadly, because we booked through Expedia, they couldn't give us a discount. Despite that, we would go back in the future. I'm sure our experience was a one off.
- 2/5
Worst hotel I’ve ever experienced. Sink hot water in upstairs bathroom only trickled out. Deadbolt on entrance door into the room wasn’t working (but was repaired on day 2). None of the hotel phones in the room worked so you could not use the in-room phone to call the front desk, housekeeping, etc. The internet wasn’t working during any of my 3 day visit. The view of the outside would have been nice but the window was extremely distorted (not clear) due to weather damage. The staff were extremely friendly. The sausage, gravy and biscuits were really good but I had to wait for fresh food due to not being refreshed when needed (dried out and picked over; hardly any food in the pans).
- 4/5
Some of the towels in the room were stained which was surprising considering how nice the room was
- 4/5
It was a great suite
- 5/5
Everyone on staff was super nice. We stayed here for my birthday so my son and I could swim. He had a great time.
- 4/5
This was a very unique hotel, the rooms were very spacious and we enjoyed out stay. The only reason I did not give a 5 start is because we were planning to have breakfast on the morning of our departure and there was no breakfast due to employee not coming into work. Otherwise it was a great stay.
- 2/5
I had higher expectations for this property, however my stay was quite disappointing. You can hear noise from the rooms nearby as if you are in the same room with them. Another patron of the hotel was so loud, yelling , laughing, engaging in sexual intercourse. Multiple complaints were made by numerous guests but they continued to allow them to stay. We overheard staff tell them finally at 3am, this is the last time, or we'll call the police. Too late, they allowed this disgraceful behavior to occur for over 5 hours. We didnt get any sleep and had our 2 young children with us. Then for their continental breakfast which other reviewers said was excellent, consisted of boxed cereal and packaged pastries. We paid 280.00 for one night, for that kind of money stay elsewhere.
- 4/5
They did not have the continental breakfast that was listed as one of the anenities
- 4/5
the stay was very nice and comfortable the only downside was the pool was not working other than that everything was great.
- 2/5
We got a river view room and our window had very dirty hard water staining or damaged windows so we couldn’t see much and the “good side” of the window was constantly covered by the curtains that did not stay in place. When getting ready for bed I pulled the quilt up and saw a dot of old blood on it, it’s not a big dot of blood but still gross. Called and notified the front desk and he asked me “is it on the quilt”, he was very prompt with bringing us new a new quilt but I was very disappointed finding old blood on the quilt. We would’ve asked for a new room but we had a very exhausted 2 year old with us that needed to get to bed. Breakfast could be better, food was not kept up with, and very dirty forks with old food crusted on them. Room we got was alright sink pipe started leaking after we washed our hands. Would I come here again probably not..
