Reviews
The hotel has a beautiful pool area and is near the freeway and river, but many guests were unsatisfied with their stay due to ongoing construction that obstructed river views and access, as well as maintenance inside the hotel. The hotel's parking policy, which only offers valet for a fee, was also a common complaint.

Great restaurant and pool! On the river but there is no river beach access so don't plan on going kayaking or paddle boarding from the Westin. Clean rooms, great service ! Don't forget to ask for a water view with balcony !

We showed up at midnight and it was dark. The room looked decent with limited light. However in the morning when we had daylight I saw A LOT of toenail /nail cuttings near the sofa. It really grossed me out. Glad we only stayed one night.

We specifically booked this hotel because they had a pool. The pool was closed/broken. The ice machine was broken. You have to valet park which they charge $52 for 24 hours. Really overpriced. This hotel is very overpriced. Very disappointed

Beautiful and high end property surprisingly nice
- 5/5
Just amazing place, staff and restaurant!
- 5/5
One of my favorite little details was the variety of water stations in the lobby — such a thoughtful touch and honestly so impressive! The hotel grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and very well maintained. The room was amazing — super cozy, comfortable, stylish, and spotless. Everything felt high-end and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and truly enjoy the stay. This was honestly my best experience in Sacramento, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful and comfortable stay. I will definitely be coming back!

A ton of dog hair on the bed. Pool was out of service. I wouldn’t stay here again the vibe was off and the staff did not seem like they wanted to be there

Pretty and clean. Quiet and peaceful. Perfect for the little romantic getaway my husband and I were needing. I didn’t enjoy walking by piled up room service trays left out in the hall. I thought that was gross and should have been cleaned up. When we arrived the entire 3rd floor hallway was lined up with them. I also didn’t love the spider webs on the balcony. That should have been cleaned up daily with housekeeping as well.

The view itself was great. The interior hallways and lobby are very clean. I just think overall, for the price and the Westin name, it wasn’t really up to snuff or worth the money we paid.

The property is still beautiful. It was warm and sunny when we arrived. This is Sacramento’s best? This property has seriously declined over the years. Now granted, it is still a beautiful hotel but I have a few complaints about my experience. The entire pool area is out of order. It does not indicate that on the website when we booked. I checked. I was disappointed to not be made aware of that until after we checked in and paid our $200 hold. They make you valet your car which you find out is $52 when you receive your invoice via email the morning of check-out. We arrived to our room at 6:34pm and our room had breakfast food leftover from the previous guests in front of the door. Also, the neighboring room guests were loud so we asked to move. They moved us to the second floor to a room with roof view and even louder traffic. Rather than listening to loud guests, I assume staff thought we preferred to listen to traffic and have a completely obstructed view. The staff were less than friendly when asked to resolve the room issue. I even offered to pay for an upgrade for an elevated experience. I didn’t know that only paying for the King Suite meant being treated like my money was not of value. My final issue was with the TV. Guest services brought up three different remotes and none of them worked. The remote would not work on the TV. After the third attempt, we opted to just use our computer for Netflix. Very disappointing.

Loved everything! Amenities, pool, jacuzzi, cleanliness, height of the ceilings, how comfortable the beds were. Staff was kind. Great stay!

Liked the location and the view The bathroom floor had obviously not been cleaned, I found many hairs on the floor and when I wiped it with a washcloth, the cloth came away very dirty, the floors hadn't been mopped for more than 1 guest.

I believe this hotel was a gem back in the day. It appeared run down, especially the exterior pool area. Second floor ice machine didn’t work, spa jets worked on and off, and out of service public restrooms.
- 5/5
Yyyuuuuu
- 3/5
Some parts are clean. Other parts were not more people going to the restaurant then the hotel. Staff was amazing for the most part ice machine was broken, and I’m pretty sure that milk in the espresso machine was bad cause it made me feel sick.
- 5/5
the room was large, clean, well appointed, up to date. very pet friendly hotel. the finest pet friendly hotel we have ever stayed at. our dog would give the hotel 5 stars too!
- 5/5
Such a classy place

We were there for a spa retreat overnight. We used the outdoor hot tub and had lovely spa treatments. Very nice. There was a rowdy wedding party talking loudly in the hall but the staff got them quieted by 11 pm. For a Sat night, that’s ok. There is a $52 parking fee. Higher than downtown San Francisco. Annoying.

One of the nicest places we stayed. Beautiful property. Scott’s seafood was excellent.

It was amazing to stay along the river. The property was beautiful and the weekend was great.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect, in every way, from the valet service, front desk, and other staff. We'll be BACK! ;)

We an excellent breakfast with potatoes to die for.
- 5/5
Truly excellent service from start to finish.

Stayed a single night here just to try it out. the room that I booked online appeared like it had a bathtub on it, which it didn’t not a big deal clean room for the most part ,accept I went to take a shower and found lashes from somebody else’s night in the face towel, told the front desk they just nodded and said sorry. Over all 3/5 for price
- 5/5
Wonderful pet friendly hotel. Only wish that the pet rooms were on the first floor. We had a balcony room but it was right over the restaurant outdoor dining area and noisy to sit outside or leave the door open. Also, was afraid to let our dog out on the balcony in case it had an “accident” over the edge on someone’s head or onto their food! But, had the best bathtub I’ve ever been in, very comfortable with the raised back and perfect for one person that filled quickly. Great water pressure and fast hot water! Also, a fantastic bike/walk trail along the river, but unfortunately also along the freeway. Still quite enjoyable for a dog walk. Overall a really nice stay.

This past Easter weekend, there were a few changes that were unfortunate. There was no towels stocked at the pool, also they changed the coffee machine downstairs to a basic hotel machine that would’ve been free anywhere else but the Westin they were forcing their front staff to “man the machine” & charging eight dollars a coffee from a machine that is typically free in hotels… Also the Westin no longer offered a Togo breakfast that you could pick up and go. Those were two of the main reasons we revisited this hotel so I was sad to see these amenities have been taken away. Other than that it was a wonderful stay. Kid friendly, great staff, clean room, comfy beds it’s just unfortunate when you pay a premium at a hotel and then feel like you’re being gouged for a regular cup of coffee. We will choose a different place to stay in the Sacramento areas next time we visit.
- 1/5
The hotel staff was horrible and did not care about their jobs or how to treat the customers. I will never stay with this hotel family again

This hotel has an exceptional staff, so friendly and helpful!! The rooms are wonderful and definitely a return visit property.
- 5/5
The Hotel is nice and very clean. The staff is so polite. The room is large. The only issue is the parking. No self parking and very expensive to parking at the property.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and smelled so fresh and clean. Loved it. On the river so relaxing and peaceful.
- 5/5
Very nice and friendly staff. Ideally situated near marina and bike trails. Room was very clean and quiet. Scott's food was amazing. I would definitely stay here again.

A Sacramento perfect jewel tucked away in the cuts but close to everything the city has to offer. The location surprised me—in the best way. You’re minutes from shopping, dining, and entertainment, yet the area still feels peaceful and private. Don’t snooze on this spot. It’s clean, comfortable, and truly a hidden gem for anyone wanting convenience without the chaos. I’d absolutely stay again.
- 4/5
The hotel boasts a stunning aesthetic, and the room service was exceptional. While the valet service was courteous, the $50 fee felt somewhat excessive. Unfortunately, the customer service during check-in left much to be desired. I noticed that while I was checking in alongside another couple, the staff member assisting them thoroughly explained the amenities and offered complimentary water bottles, whereas the gentleman who assisted me did not provide any information about the amenities or extend the same courtesy.
- 3/5
They charged for parking and didn't know in advance
- 5/5
The hotel is stunning! All the staff are very polite and professional. Room service from Scott’s Seafood was great. 10/10 will stay here again

Hidden fee of $52 for valet only parking, plus more if you want to leave. Our room was not ready, it took them more than an hour to give us our room key.
- 3/5
Parking horrible didn’t give enough towels. Customer service was great. Rooms was very clean.
- 3/5
Toilet floor not clean. Parking is valet only and a bit of a nightmare.
- 5/5
Hotel smelt amazing, rooms were super clean, comfortable, and nice!
- 3/5
I booked the room for three people but found only two water glasses and two coffee cups. We stayed at Westin only one night, didn’t have coffee in the morning so it wasn’t a big deal, but still, it’s Westin. We expected it to be a perfect experience. Also the noise, it didn’t bother us during the evening hours but night time we had sleep disturbances from the constant noise coming from the ceiling or roof. I did ask cleaning personnel what causing the noise, she advised me to ask the front desk. On our checkout I asked the front desk lady and she also couldn’t figure it out what kind of noise it was and where it was coming from. We had riverfront room on the third floor.
- 5/5
Staff was phenomeal and the room was fabulous.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing. We booked the presidential suite for my 50th birthday. The manager had complimentary champagne in the room waiting for us when we arrived. The room was amazing and clean. Service was great as always. We loved our stay here.
- 5/5
Everyone was fantastic from the front desk to the valets
- 5/5
We love staying here we know what to expect. We stayed for 1 night only however it was great.
- 5/5
The hotel overall was great! Staff super friendly and helpful and THEY HAVE VALETS! Who help with bags!! The bathtubs are Extraordinary!! The only blight to the visit was the robe that was hung up in bathroom had fecal material on it as if someone had used it and hotel staff had left it hung up without checking it. Definitely a heath code violation……..
- 5/5
Rooms were spotless and staff was very generous
- 4/5
The bed cover was dirty. The staff was nice and welcoming. The valet, upon us departing, did not place our luggage in the trunk. We had to do it ourselves. Not fun for a disabled 68 year old woman.
- 5/5
Love the comfort and cleanliness of this hotel
- 5/5
Lovely stay.
- 2/5
Very disappointed. Westin has gone downhill. Used to be top of the line. Was no better than a budget hotel!

The hot tub was cold, and it was a primary reason we picked this hotel on our roadtrip, after a very long day of driving.

- 3/5
The room was excellent, and staff was courteous. I have two complaints, however. I had prepaid the reservation. When I arrived, they took a further deposit of $400 against my card for "incidentals." When I checked out the next day, they took a separate charge for incidentals (valet and wifi use), and failed to credit back the full $400, instead keeping a charge of $180.30. 5 days ago I spoke to them, they admitted the $180.30 was an error, and it would be credited back. As of today, 5 days later, they hadn't done so. I called again and was promised that they would credit it back today. My second complaint is that although they have a parking lot, use of the valet is mandatory. I wasn't expecting that, and didn't appreciate the over $50 charge for the valet.
- 5/5
Friendly service. Scott’s Seafood restaurant was excellent!!
- 5/5
Staff was amazing
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable room, great location, polite staff
- 3/5
The primary reason for booking this room over the other available options, was the description said the room had a soaking tub. The room I received (room 345) did not have a soaking tub and when I brought it up to the person working the front desk they told me “Every room has a tub” and I should double check. The room was adequate, but not what I was expecting. I will say the restaurant (Scott’s Seafood) made up for the incorrect room description and less than helpful front desk.
- 5/5
Great stay and a great price! 11/10 would stay again!
- 5/5
Ok
- 5/5
I didnt have any food, but the room was beautiful and clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable!

Complete lack of competence. No knowledge of reservation or details.

Hotel was beautiful, rooms were very nice, clean, bed was comfortable with comfortable pillows and the bathroom was very nice as well. The attached restaurant was amazing. I will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful stay!
- 5/5
This has become a regular, a special place for my wife, and I.We love it here
- 5/5
Everything was great, from the room to the service.
- 5/5
Great room, staff was friendly and helpful. The location isn’t ideal but the amenities were very nice.
- 4/5
The room was right on the river and our room had a nice little balcony. Very clean and comfortable bed. Only valet parking for $52/nt which I did not know about (probably is on the page where I reserved I just did not read far enough) but that was really the only downside. The breakfast was basic but good & served quickly to the room.
- 5/5
Overall great experience. Very nice staff and quick and easy valet parking
- 2/5
Hit and miss - stayed in Spring and it was great - came back and service was terrible. There were some kind employees of course - but the front desk could use some hospitality training- particularly one individual. One night I asked for a wine opener, she said they didn’t have one (4 star resort) - so I walked to the restaurant and bartender said, “they have them in hotel.” I told him I just asked, and front desk said no. He kindly opened it of course. I went back and told the front desk lady what the bartender said - she said, “they are only in the suites.” The hotel was not full- she could have easily asked a worker to grab one from a suite room but instead just said, “We don’t have any.” The valet workers were kind - front desk crew consistently disappointing… from cold welcome throughout the stay.
- 5/5
cleanliness, quiet, lovely area.
- 5/5
Very nice place to stay
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the staff were very friendly.
- 5/5
Room looked great, clean, and valet service was superb!
- 2/5
Hotel overbooked and did not have the 2 king beds room we booked for. Worst part is instead of offering a solution the try to fit us into a single king room with a roll away bed which won’t work. Attitude horrible, “we are very full tonight”. Well then offer a discount or something instead of telling the customer to accept what they didn’t pay for. Bad experience, we left and booked another place.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay again!!
- 4/5
Bathroom mirror is set too high. My partner was barely able to see her face in the mirror. Lights are hard to figure out. The bottled water does not taste very good. Other than that, we had a very good experience.
- 5/5
Wonderful facility on the riverfront! Highly recommend this spot for a night or two.
- 4/5
Nice room, helpful staff, breakfast has limited variety and is expensive for the quality.
- 5/5
It was a beautiful property
- 5/5
Excellent experience.
- 3/5
Breakfast was not included in the hotel price. Water was not offered in the room. The shower handle was rusted and unclean. There was a hard spot on the carpet which I believe to be unclean. WiFi should be offered to all guests not only to reward members.
- 1/5
Staff nothing went right this even where we wanted to stay we made the wrong choice and it has been proven they over charged refused to give us the money back I had to dispute it with my bank I will never stay at a Westin again
- 5/5
Beautiful property
- 5/5
Nice and clean place
- 4/5
Courteous staff
- 5/5
The staff was absolutely wonderful! Arrived very late at night and it was wonderful to have such a kind person help with check in. I didn’t stay long enough to enjoy the grounds. Had a better breakfast been available, I would have considered having breakfast there. The “coffee shop” options could be much better at a Westin.
- 3/5
I was taken aback by the lack of self-parking and the overnight charge over $50 for valet.
- 5/5
The hotel was very clean, comfortable and safe. The room was well maintained. We did have some issues with housekeeping this past visit and the spa timer was not working but we’d go back and stay.
- 4/5
Room was clean and bed was very comfortable! The bathtub was amazing and the hot water divine. The pool deck was nice with plenty of seating.
- 5/5
We were just passing through Sacramento and needed a comfortable bed and clean room. We always try to stay at a Westin because we trust the high standards and quality of their rooms, facilities and service. This Location and staff were top notch. Check in was delightful. The staff was wonderful. Room was clean and comfortable. Will stay again soon
- 5/5
Beautiful property
- 4/5
Staff were great, and a wedding and the restaurant/bar were shut down as promised so as not to be a disturbance for folks trying to go to bed at 10 PM.
- 4/5
Only draw back was beds were a little soft
- 5/5
Clean room, comfortable bed, great amenities. Nice bar.
- 5/5
Would love to stay here again.
- 5/5
This was our second time staying here. I love it. You forget your in Sacramento here.
- 5/5
All-around great experience whenever we stay here. Everthing from staff, room, facilities, amenities, etc. are exceptional. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Amazing rooms, very private and hidden hotel.
- 5/5
This is a lovely hotel with excellent service. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
We loved our stay. It’s beautiful and smells so good lol! It’s one of our favorite hotels to stay at when driving this way.
- 3/5
no breakfast, limited dining options, rooms ok, expected more for the price.
- 5/5
This is our second stay here and we just love this hotel. It’s beautiful with the river view. We love the double King sized beds perfect for our family.
- 3/5
The property was well maintained and beautiful, however we requested two rooms w river views and balconies. Only one room had balcony and it wasn't on river side. It was not a good location for walking to other places. Restaurant served very good food. They did credit us for the wrong rooms. Staff was extremely nice.
- 5/5
Hotel was awesome
- 2/5
Excellent place to relax and enjoy. Lots of amenities such as a beautiful pool and jacuzzi. They do nickel and dime you with parking which was over $50 a night and a cup of coffee was over $5. They did not supply any in the Lobby. The only other negative was my room was not ready at 4:00 and I had to wait. Otherwise it's a great place in a wonderful location.
- 4/5
Remodel tastefully done but mandatory valet parking adds $104 currently to a 2 night stay. This hotel I have stayed at many times - it used to have self parking or valet. The wedding tent continues to be an eyesore that blocks 2/3 of the riverfront rooms that cost more. Ridiculous. Profit from events over patrons. This “temporary” huge event tent has been up for years. Used to be my favorite hotel in Sacramento with over 10 stays.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel, newly renovated with great surroundings and nice restaurant. Would be nice to have an option for self parking as indicated on the website, $52 for valet parking a night is very expensive!
- 5/5
Extremely helpful and friendly at check in
- 5/5
Excellent staff
- 5/5
I really enjoyed the quality of the building its decoration, and how clean it was. Loved the amenities and how comfortable the room was. I will definitely use this hotel again! One negative thing was the SPA area. It’s so small they don’t have availability.
- 5/5
Spent the night for a concert at the Golden 1 Center. The hotel was incredible and Scott’s Seafood was delicious. The view was beautiful and the beds were like sleeping on a cloud.
- 5/5
Love it ..
- 3/5
I went to beauty school for esthetics and have years of multiple training in facial skin care and hygiene. I didn’t use any of the facial products there as I always use my own. I have not changed anything in my skin care routine, diet or exercise for years nor have I broken out in years. I believe that I contracted this rash and skin condition from the sheets, robe and/or towels. I am experiencing discomfort bd have not been able to find a solution to this matter.
- 5/5
I love Westin
- 5/5
Loved the walking path
- 5/5
Restaurant is nice
- 5/5
Only thing that was a disappointment was there was a party going on in one of the rooms at 1am, then 3am then 430am. Otherwise the hotel was nice.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating, and personable. The property is close to downtown and the baseball stadium. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
One of the best experience I have ever had as a hotel
- 3/5
Very pictureque setting by the river. Nice rooms with balconies over looking river. The restaurant is very expensive. The grounds are spacious with plenty to do. The pool needs more up keep. There were dead insects floating around. The water was a bit cold.
- 5/5
Wonderful place. Wonderful getaway.
- 4/5
I’ve always enjoyed the Heavenly Collection. It’s been years since I’ve stayed at a Westin though. I didn’t care for the “new” bedspread. Room was overall clean. Initial front desk staff was borderline snarky. They were busy, so that may be why. But should be addressed. Staff going forward were really friendly. AC unit was a bit loud, but worked well. I’d stay here again.
- 5/5
Staff was fantastic, great amenities, beautiful decor and clean!!!
- 5/5
Amazing hotel…we enjoyed our stay very much. Restaurant has wonderful food. I will stay again!
- 5/5
unique view and Scott's breakfast is awesome
- 5/5
Excellent room, pool, and on site restaurant.
- 2/5
The Westin should be an upscale stay. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. Our room was over the restaurant so we were getting the noise and music from restaurant. Figured it would die down about 10/11 pm. While restaurant closed the music played all night making it difficult to get any sleep. Told by staff nothing they could do. Then tried to use a Marriott gift card for room incidentals/ our dinner but staff could not figure out how to apply their own company gift card. Overall not a great stay.
- 3/5
Most wonderful beds!!
- 5/5
Secluded, clean, beautiful
- 3/5
There was that, making me miss 2 business video call meetings. And the fridge wasn’t working causing my medicine that was supposed to stay cool, go bad
- 5/5
Great service. Only two issues with the hotel room. Make-up was on the comforter, and the shower soap dispenser was empty for the full stay.
- 5/5
The only thing I didn’t like was that you have to use valet parking only
- 5/5
Excellent service, friendly staff and clean, modern rooms. Kids loved our stay too - especially the pool and hot tub. Scott’s restaurant has terrific food, I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was awesome. My family and I would definitely return for another stay whenever we come back to the Sacramento area.
- 3/5
the setting and the room were beautiful and the front desk service was great. the facility charges over $50 for valet parking and there is no self park option. it is pretty remote so there are no paid parking structures in the area. I find this to be pretty petty especially since the hotel itself is expensive. also they charge for opening a package of bath salts!? come on....
- 5/5
Our wedding weekend was amazing and the staff were top notch!
- 5/5
This Hotel is wonderful… Highly recommend
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay and will return here.

Room was nice, clean, and comfortable. Common areas were nice and well kept. Good restaurant on-site. Staff was friendly.

Scott’s restaurant is on site making it convenient fine dinning

It was a good stay; but the mandatory $45 valet parking fee was a bit abusive!

This was the absolute worst Westin experience I have ever had. The only good part is that the property, housekeeping and condition was not the issue. The staff is completely unhelpful, the food is not edible, the fitness center has zero equipment and the rooms do not even have heavenly Westin beds. To top it off they have in room safes to store valuables and the safes are not even bolted down, the safe could be picked up and carried out, completely useless The beds are better at a comfort inn. There has to be better options than this property which is 3 miles from downtown Sacramento.

Wonderful 1 night stay; kids enjoyed the swimming pool! I would definitely recommend for families!

Beautiful property, with comfortable beds and picturesque views. Thank you!

This was a beautiful property with super friendly staff, clean rooms, on-site restaurant/bar, close to city activities and an overall relaxing place. So happy we switched from a downtown hotel to the Westin! We will be back.

Many good things here, it’s true, but the “in-room” purchases scattered about just look cheap. Maybe focus on the things that I did pay for? Was difficult to work with table light burned out, but no, I did not go to the trouble of asking it to be fixed while I was there. I did tell the receptionist when I checked out. “Oh, Ok, thank you.” I also have to say I found the surprise “valet only” parking annoying, and the captive, pricey restaurant not at all to my style. But I would be back? Probably so.

truly magnificent and they take dogs too!

Nice location near the river and just off the freeway. Great pool and lounge area.

Beautiful place and very relaxing

I absolutely loved everything. Even the little bit of construction wasn't at all a problem

Everything was very nice, the mattress was crazy comfortable

Quick trip but could not have picked a better place to stay. Everything was perfect.

Great hotel, classy atmosphere , love the lobby's cafewith treats and a wine dispenser. I live local and it will now be my go to getaway hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. Loved the heated pool and super spacious room, and the area outside overlooking the river

Loved being on the river. Spa was lovely

Great get away with friends & perfect hotel!

This bad review is based on the conduct of the employee claiming to be the night manager during our stay. This person attempted to charge my 5 year old for a free apple that she took. The apples were complimentary as confirmed by the hotels general manager. She also screamed at me across the lobby that my daughter should have better manners. Her horrible attitude was what we needed after attending a funeral. And honestly we felt unsafe as she was so unhinged. Terrible experience.

Had an amazing time, one of the best hotels in Sacramento for sure. Great food at Scott's and the hotel is beautiful.
- 4/5
Great property and excellent restaurant. Our room was awesome except for work being done in the rooms across from us. The front desk staff were nice and efficient. Property in a good location
- 5/5
A serene setting close to downtown Sacramento. Loved the design and location on the riverfront. The Heavenly Sleep beds were incredibly comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud! I look forward to returning.

Excellent.

Staff is incredible. Very clean property, comfortable bed, bathtub and shower are nice. I wish they had nicer coffee options, and I wish our room was more quiet. We were on the first floor for ease due to having a dog with us, and it was loud. We also found the required valet to be annoying. Valets were super nice and wonderful, but it was entirely unnecessary. Would have rather paid a fee for self-park.

Easy access off I-5...room was perfect.
- 4/5
Lovely, friendly, very clean. Parking was expensive. Could use a sauna/steam with the pool and fitness center
- 5/5
I really liked the location of the property. It wasn't too far from areas I was interested in visiting and the property itself was fantastic with great staff.
- 5/5
Only problem- no body soap in bathtub.
- 3/5
No microwave, no refrigerator. The parking is a narrow valet only and makes it awkward to download your stuff.
- 3/5
Night shift front desk staff and room service was not nice.
