Chose the Hampton Inn Poway as an extra night on my birthday trip knowing that this isn't a fancy resort by any means but Hampton Inn always comes with great stays and calm environments. The stay started out ok with the gentleman at the front being very helpful and even offering an "upgrade". We got to the room to notice a musty smell from the AC being off. We were given a room with one bed instead of two and a pull out couch (no problem). When turning on the AC, the AC the entire stay could not be controlled by the wall unit but by the ac unit itself. It smelled, didn't cool and made loud noises that seemed to get worse the longer it was on. The pull out couch was stained immensely with black dirt. The bathroom has no ventilation and the sinks were in the middle of the room. Water did not get warm for over 5 minutes. To make everything feel worse, at 6:00am the fire alarms abruptly woke us awake as they went off non-stop for over 3 minutes. We got up in a fury and headed out to the stairs to be led outside and have to walk around the property as they went off as we were going down the stairs. When I went to the front desk, I was greated by a non-friendly woman who laughed at me when I asked why they went off and said that it was someone using the toaster at breakfast incorrectly. She then said well "at least you are awake"... offering no apologies. When expressing everything, I got nothing in return saying "that is too bad'.

Breakfast was very good. Great variety?
- 5/5
Wonderful in every aspect including location!!
- 3/5
When my room was cleaned they failed to stock it with towels. I didn’t realize until midnight. The breakfast was so so. There was not a huge selection and because of that there was often lots of waiting.
- 5/5
The room and surrounding areas were clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast had plenty to choose from. The parking was ample but there is a fee. They are pet friendly. Will stay here again in the future for sure.
- 5/5
Breakfast was excellent, the later check out was wonderful. My family and I enjoyed our stay and had fun!
- 2/5
Room was not clean
- 5/5
Breakfast was nicer than expected! And the front office staff was lovely! Will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Amazing stay! Staff decorated our room for my daughter's birthday and i had only sent a message to inquire, not realizing they were going to do it. Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice pool, enjoyable breakfast on a beautiful area.
- 3/5
Carpet has smell shower doors don’t close ac sometimes it work
- 5/5
Nothing
- 5/5
The staff were very professional and friendly!! I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Everything was really good. I was satisfied with my stay.
- 3/5
Staff was helpful and friendly. Lobby of hotel was nice, but the bathrooms are in need of an updating. Breakfast was just ok. Sausage was not the best.
- 5/5
Breakfast good. Staff extrodinary attentive. We did notice the fire alert in room was loosening from ceiling. Wonderful visit- THANK YOU.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice. Sent a text after check in to see if we needed anything.
- 2/5
Breakfast excellent.
- 5/5
Staff and stay were great, easy check in and out
- 5/5
Room was very clean and pleasant. Bed was very comfortable. Would like a better selection of TV channels. Extra charges for daily parking ought to be expressed before reservations that cannot be cancelled. I personally had so difficulty with breakfast. The food was good and taste was fine. However the sausage must have had MSG in it and I had reactions 2 of the 3 days there until I realized what was happening.
- 4/5
Very nice front desk personnel
- 4/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Breakfast was good. Very nice clean Rooms.Staff was Awesome.Safe Parking.Nice Hotel Highly recommend.
- 4/5
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and upkept property. They had a full breakfast which was great, and a diy waffle maker which was fun!
- 5/5
Nice property. Good breakfast and I’m sure I’ll stay there again
- 4/5
Parking was easy and staff was very helpful and service oriented. Beds were not the most comfortable, but overall, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
- 5/5
Breakfast was fresh, the linens were clean, the space was fresh and comfortable.
- 5/5
Super clean N/A
- 3/5
Extra Parking fees are absolutely outrageous. Walls are thin. Don't expect any requests in the reservation to be even considered. Wa asked for low floor, being older and one cannot do elevators. Nope. Top floor to carry luggage and all for four days.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely helpful after a horrible experience in Ramona with Ramona Valley Inn, I would recommend staying here in Poway and hope the person at the reception gets paid to continue working for this hotel as she was amazing.
- 4.5/5
Good stay for a night
- 2/5
Didn't like not having cleaning service. The bathroom door would not stay open at all. The big down side was paying $20.00 per day parking. Crazy
- 5/5
What started out as a bit of a challenge for me due to my sensitivity to fragrances and certain cleaning chemicals (typically used in many hotels), turned into one of the best experiences I've had in recent years. The management provided me with a room that was almost ideal in every respect, and I was able to truly enjoy my travel as a result. I highly recommend this hotel, if for no other reason than a very caring and understanding staff that will be bend over backward to make guests happy. They truly personify excellent customer service practices because they actually practice what they preach. I haven't seen anything like it in quite some time. A big thumbs up to this Hampton hotel!
- 3.5/5
Bed seemed to be a bit small.
- 5/5
Staffs especially receptionist are friendly ; felt very welcome when we arrived and checked in . Very respectful in responding to inquiries
- 5/5
only stood a night but it was great and very clean!
- 5/5
Nice property. Decent free breakfast.
- 3/5
they charge for parking, so total cost is about 10% higher than quoted
- 4/5
The hotel staff is always outstanding. This hotel is starting to show its age and that includes the condition of the bathrooms and the carpet.
- 5/5
Stay was nice. We had a person in next hotel room blasting their TV in late night ruining our sleep. I called front desk and they handled it immediately. Took two calls but guessing the problem guest was the issue. A big thank you to staff foe caring and fast handling.
- 1/5
Booked with a group for a tournament. Hotel cancelled my reservation twice even though they read me the message I put on the last one that said do not let anyone but me cancel. No matter, they let someone else cancel a non refundable room and even though they screwed up they won’t refund my money. No room no refund horrible customer service.
- 2.5/5
Location Upon arrival we learned of a $21/day parking fee!! This was not disclosed to us during booking. Breakfasts were "okay". Room was just across from elevators so very noisy, especially with kids running up and down the halls playing ball! Room next door was noisy first two nights. We won't go back to that hotel again, infact, maybe from now on stock to Air bnb's!
- 5/5
Your employees are awesome!
- 5/5
The room was very clean, the TV worked and staff was friendly.
- 4/5
Very clean hotel and well kept and great free breakfast the next morning. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because they charge for parking $20 per night is absurd.
- 3/5
Hotel great, breakfast and staff were great. Rooms were nice and clean. Tv was broken asked for it to be replaced on the first of a 6 day stay and it was not. Annoying watching a blue screen. Was charged like $20 per day to park in the parking lot of a hotel we are renting. Will stay elsewhere next time for this reason.
- 5/5
Clean rooms and very helpful and friendly staff.
- 1.5/5
Nice location
- 5/5
The room was clean and a a very decent TV. The overall experience was really good.
- 5/5
Yes
- 1/5
The room was disgusting. The hotel did not advertise that it was a pet-friendly hotel.
- 5/5
Clean , the lady at the front desk was kind and efficient, very helpful. Nothing
- 5/5
The room was very clean. Good selection at breakfast.
- 5/5
Very nice property
- 4/5
Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, breakfast on Christmas morning included nice little omelettes! My only complaint is always the fee for parking. It seems unnecessary and not very convenient to pay online.
- 5/5
The breakfast was great…room was clean Having to pay for parking seemed a little ridiculous.
- 4/5
Desk staff were friendly, greeted when we walked by and in the morning. Breakfast was good, was hoping for little omelettes on Sunday you used to have. Wish the beds were positioned with foot on bed toward the TV. Always uncomfortable to watch because it’s located to side of the bed. Also, cost of room should cover a place to park. Parking fees seem like a way to get more money out of guests.
- 4/5
Room was great, the unnecessary parking charges were extortionate.
- 5/5
Staff was great
- 4/5
The staff was wonderful! The hotel was clean, though it could use some updating. The bed was comfortable, but the room temperature wouldn’t go below 68 degrees, so I was a little warm in the night. Would have been more to get it down to 65 so I could sleep better.
- 5/5
John at check in was beyond the call of duty wonderful - rooms spacious clean and great location.
- 5/5
The employees are always great. Tami at reception goes above and beyond….always helpful and friendly. The lady at reception in the evening was also great. I just didn’t catch her name. The pet fee is too high. $75 for one night. We’ve put down a deposit already in case there’s any damage. I understand charging $75 to maybe keep dogs to a minimum. It’s a deterrent? Can I get a comp like every 5th visit? I’d stay more but fit the pet fee.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the free breakfast. It was better than i was expecting. Room was large and comfdortable.
- 5/5
The staff was great, and the room was clean. I also appreciated that the hotel was close to restaurants and entertainment.
- 4/5
Reasonable cost and clean, friendly staff. We were traveling with our 2 dogs and this hotel was pet friendly. Breakfast was pretty tasty and had a lot to offer as far as choices Closeness to the road which was quite noisy late at night. Walls were a bit thin, could hear noise from guests next door and floor above.
- 5/5
Clean room, helpful friendly staff
- 2/5
Paid parking sucks. Room wasn't turned over while we were there. Not somewhere I will stay again
- 3/5
The room was fine. The staff was great, especially Lauren. Breakfast was nothing to write home about, but pretty standard as far as hotel food goes. The hotel was very pet friendly. The bad part is the paid parking. The parking lot wasn’t even close to full…yet, we were charged $18 a night to park. Absolutely ridiculous. And, they don’t spring that charge on you until you complete your “non-refundable” reservation. I don’t like being nickeled and dimed to death. For God’s sake, add $20 a night for the room.
- 5/5
Great staff. Clean rooms.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly, room was clean and spacious. We will be back!
- 3/5
Eggs were terrible. Room 121 is next to the maintenance room so it was noisy and loud.
- 4/5
Stay was fine. Hotel was clean enough. Quiet and safe location. Conveniently located near family in Poway for the holidays. Breakfast was gross. We skipped it.
- 4/5
Staff great room very clean and very good breakfast
- 3/5
Tami at the front desk was wonderful. But the room ventilation was strange and more importantly, either the ventilation system or the carpet smelled sour. Breakfast was wonderful and the staff bringing out breakfast was very kind.
- 3/5
Strange smell in room, slept with window open. Bathrooms could use some touch up. Friendly staff!
- 3/5
Room was clean and well suited for wheelchair use. Bed was low so it was easy to transfer. Toilet was raised which is very appreciated. The bad part-the bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in and not the quality I expect from Hilton Branded hotels. Even though there was not a boxspring, which isn’t always necessary with beds now, it felt like it was on solid wood with no give. There seemed to be a support bar or piece of wood running down the middle of the bed that made my hips and lower back incredibly sore. In order to get any kind of sleep I tried to sleep on the edge which didn’t work well as the bed has little to no edge support. When we checked in, after booking and paying for the stay online we were told water would be off to the room for 8 hours our 2nd night. Had we known we would have stayed elsewhere. There were no discounts or future concessions offered. The staff were welcoming and helpful. It’s unfortunate that our stay was not good.
- 5/5
Clean and great customer service
- 5/5
Only thing is the shower runs very slow
- 2/5
I have stayed here several times in the past. The first thing that turned me off was that i had to pay for parking which i had never done before, why wasn't it just added into the price of the room? Second, no microwave. Third the shower water flow was not great and the room furnishings were odd, like they were just thrown together. Definately not what i expect from a Hampton Inn. very dissapointed.
- 4/5
The hotel was great and breakfast was so convenient. I just didn’t like that after walking around the room barefoot even though the room has carpet, my feet were dirty.
- 3/5
Did not eat breakfast
- 5/5
My favorite hotel in San Diego
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff
- 5/5
Great overall stay, couldn’t have asked for more!
- 5/5
comfortable bed large walk in shower nothing
- 5/5
It was very clean and seemed new. Loved our king suite! Breakfast was good too. Highly recommend this Hampton Inn.
- 4.5/5
Location Nothing
- 5/5
Good customer service
- 4/5
Choose this property for the location and convenience to an event I attended. Stayed one night. I've stayed at another Hampton Inn and Suite at the border of CA and AZ, and the room was exactly the same. Bathroom was the same as well, down to the peeling shower ceiling paint and out-of-plum wall trim, lol. I guess it's difficult to remodel hotel rooms without tearing them completely down. There was an overly scented smell of some kind - wasn't horrible, but I did notice a perfumy smell in the public areas, as well as a damp smell (almost like what you would smell at an indoor pool). Maybe the scent used was trying to cover up that damp, humid smell. Idk. But I def prefer unscented to scented spaces. Also, there is a parking fee of $17+ taxes, which I must have missed in the description because I was unaware of that until I checked in. Overall, a decent place to stay.
- 5/5
Room was very clean, staff very professional and courteous..complimentary breakfast was amazing .everything very fresh and stations very clean..I will definitely book again
- 5/5
Dante. The young man at the desk when we checked. Very friendly and professional. Was very helpful. Great smile. Thank you Dante. It was a pleasure. The rest of the staff were also amazing.
- 4/5
To leave next day I’m not paying for parking. I think 🤔 that the parking should be free. If you go to Vegas if you stay at the property you don’t get charged. They charge if you don’t stay there.
- 4/5
Locally placed to stores & restaurants. Quite . Staff was exceptionally nice & helpful room was comfortable & roomy . Nice breakfast . There were hairs in the shower & on the bathroom floor … did not formally complain . Need towels hangers in the exterior sink area .
- 5/5
The only thing I can say about my stay was the complimentary breakfast. The food selection was very limited, the fresh fruit looked like it was a week old. The main dish was the same one each day I stayed.
- 3/5
The staff are good and efficient What I didnt like was the following points Clean up for our room is done every other day , not daily Water is not provided in our room , it has to be paid for on reception Parking is not included , it has to be paid in adition to the hotel fee
- 5/5
Staffs were nice and polite. Room was clean.
- 1/5
Breakfast was between 7 and 10 AM on weekends. On Monday it ends at 9 AM. We missed it and many other people missed it because it was presumed to end at 10. There was no sign posted anywhere about this. The front desk person, Tammy, smuggly informed me that there is a slip of paper inside the key envelop, along with other pieces of paper, that has these times mentioned. There is no reason that they could not post a proper sign that lets people know the hours so they don't miss it. There were a LOT of really angry people milling in the lobby who expected breakfast. Meanwhile, you could see through the gaps that the staff was feasting on the leftovers of the breakfast buffet while we were denied. This is a major fail in management and staff. I will avoid booking this chain of hotels whenever possible.
- 5/5
It was good
- 4/5
The pool is amazing
- 5/5
Good hotel.
- 5/5
Great sleep
- 5/5
Love the people that work there
- 5/5
Friendly staff. I kind of arrived early, but there was no rush in checking in. Pleasant place to stay. Clean, fresh & welcoming. Will probably come stay again. I just wish parking was freee. Parking. But it’s okay.
- 2/5
parking fee
- 5/5
Cayla was amazing. She made sure our stay was great. Thank you
- 2.5/5
The beds were too soft and lumpy. You have to pay for security for you car. I never saw any security patrols or guards.
- 2/5
Surprise, for a hotel many miles from city center and freeway, they charge for parking equal to what you would see on the Vegas strip. Watch out because it is not shown on any reservation site that they are charging until you arrive at hotel. And it makes no sense, they are out in the middle of nowhere
- 2/5
Bedding and towels were not very clean.
- 3/5
Water pressure extremely low it was hard to have a decent shower.
- 5/5
We had a great experience with the staff, the cleanliness of the hotel, the breakfast included, nothing but great things.
- 5/5
Lovely place to stay. We enjoyed the Hampton Inn very much. We’ll definitely stay there the next time we visit San Diego.
- 4/5
Everything was great. Thank you for delicious oatmeal. The only issue we had was a smell in the room, sort of a damp/musty smell. We had to leave the AC really cold at 68 the whole time to keep the smell at bay.
- 5/5
As a place to stay as part of a road trip, being located so close to a Costco and Costco gas makes the location ideal. Actually cleaner and better managed than a 4 star hotel in La Jolla too!
- 5/5
The staff was amazing and kind.
- 4/5
Great hotel and staff except for the parking scam everything was great
- 5/5
Great Customers Service
- 3/5
Property was ok. Very pricy for a dated property. Shower was weak. Lobby area was excellent. Can’t fathom why properties all charge for parking.
- 5/5
Service front desk staff are very helpful and responsive.
- 1/5
Terrible, smelly rooms, extra for parking and everything small thing is money, frozen breakfast not worth it.
- 3/5
Not worth the price. I expect more from the Hilton family of hotels. Room was small, drains were partially clogged, and breakfast was really bad. I’ve had better breakfasts at the Holiday Inn and Best Western. Also, I don’t understand why you have to pay for parking. It’s not a busy neighborhood, and there’s plenty of space around the area, feels like a money grab.
- 4/5
Overall the stay was good. The room was appeared clean, but had a musty odor. The bed was comfy. Im still not clear why there was a cost for parking? I would stay ar The Hampton Inn if im in Poway, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.
- 4/5
Nice area and lobby area. Rooms were dated and smelled musty, especially the carpet needs to be redone.
- 3/5
This property is older, although it was clean. The rooms are setup kind of weird as well. They charge for parking, which is normal, but they don't just add it to your bill, they make you log into some 3rd party website, register, etc., adn that is super annoying. Just charge it to my hotel bill please. Given how old the property is and inconvenience of paying for parking etc we will choose a diff hotel.
- 5/5
.
- 4/5
Clean and quiet. Good desk personnel
- 5/5
Great family staff! Wonderful amenities for a family. Clean area for breakfast and kind staff.
- 5/5
It was very nice.
- 4/5
The hotels carpets are very dirty, hallways and carpets room, other than I can say is good, I'm not agreed with the $21 parking fee, this hotel is far from the fun they shouldn't be charging for parking.
- 1/5
.
- 3/5
To make matters work, the parking needed to be paid through a qr code on my phone instead of at the front desk. This ended up with them billing me for two days parking when I only stayed one day. Eventually they refunded the parking fee for the extra day, but not the surge pricing fee going along with the parking.
- 5/5
Very happy with our stay.
- 5/5
Excellent service
- 5/5
Clean area close to freeways, Hotel and staff were nice and helpful.
- 5/5
It’s good experience .
- 5/5
The service of Dante, who was kind, attentive, and thorough, in the front desk was superb.
- 4/5
Friendly staff loved that they had coffee all day with creamer available! The breakfast was a great variety. Perfect for families.
- 1/5
Everything was great except for the extremely uncomfortable beds my back has been hurting ever since the first night not sure if other beds are as bad but definitely need the change the mattresses in room 120
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Only drawback was the pool was VERY cold. Not good with a toddler
- 3/5
We really didn't like anything but our stay there except the staff being pleasant! There were so many (negatives) for us...we won't be back and I don't recommend.
- 5/5
Hot breakfast, clean room and good service
- 1/5
When we got there, it was no room available. They cancelled with no explanation so we were as stranded.
- 4/5
It was fine
- 4/5
Please remove the carpeting from the room, the rooms smell like potato chips. Asked for another room, still smelly. If you like that smell, you will love the hotel, good breakfast and great service.
- 5/5
Great stay!!
- 5/5
Reallly happy with my stay. The hotel was clean and the front desk staff was superrrr friendly and welcoming. (I think his name was Adrian/Aiden??)
- 2/5
Nice staff, and plenty of breakfast but it’s unfortunate you pay for parking. The beds are like 12 years old and my back is busted on night 1 because of it. All lights in the room are too bright and would have appreciated if at least 1 or 2 were dim. The bathroom door is loud for a baby, the ac unit makes a lot of noise and is outdated. Lastly, the toilet paper bar is loose and old, the roll fell. I expected more from Hilton billionaires.
- 5/5
Very clean hotel. It made it easy for me to travel for business and with my husband. Thank you and keep up the great environment.
- 5/5
Lamp loose attachment next to bed!
- 5/5
The hotel was family-friendly. The room was clean and had a microwave and small fridge. They also offered breakfast. The staff seemed friendly. The location was ok for a one night stay. It is in an industrial area.
- 5/5
Great property
- 4/5
Regular Hampton Inn
- 4/5
Friendly staff But they must have had some events going on, could hear the music from the event room downstairs
- 4/5
Pillows were the smallest and worst I’ve had in a long time. Bring your own. Also, read fine print. Parking at $15 plus $1 got transaction. Come on.
- 5/5
Did not appreciate paying for parking for a standard hotel.
- 5/5
so much room and so clean. very nice for price
- 4/5
Overall a good property, but I was unhappily surprised to learn there is a $15 per day parking fee. For an area where nearly all guests would have cars it should be included in the room rate so it is compatible to other hotels in the area. On top of that I was required to fill out an app to pay for parking which took a few minutes.
- 5/5
Staff was awesome!
- 4/5
It was a convient location for visiting friends in the area. The included breakfast adequate but had no variety from day today. It was very crowded with families so no seating available and lack of food several days we just went to a local Starbucks instead.
- 5/5
Good service
- 5/5
Only 1 complain that I have is why are they charging the parking fee per day? Parking was all empty and it's not like it's in the downtown area.
- 3/5
Becareful to verify you are getting what Expedia advertises is what you actually are going to get from the property. Also, several rooms do not have electricity in the bathrooms. They don't tell you this unless you call for maintenance. The building is old & needs to be rewired, so there is no fix for the problem, but to change rooms. They did give me some points to use for the inconvenience. Did not make a good 1st impression.
- 5/5
Nice staff! Tami always offered her assistance! Room was clean! Loved how dog friendly place was.
- 3/5
It was good breakfast wasn’t
- 2/5
Went on a mini vacation (aka 2 days) and got booked into a room, found a roach on the wall. They switched our rooms quickly. The bed wasn't comfortable to me but I'm a difficult sleeper so that may have been it. Also, everytime I called for towels, they never came. I also had to complain about the people above us twice. The fire alarm went off early on one of the mornings. Lastly, the shower water was pretty week (poor water preasure I guess) and the shower doors kept rolling open. Also, you have to pay $15/day for parking. Seriously...? Overall, I don't think I would book here. The staff were awesome tho, very helpful minus the towel situation. Added a picture of the road because.. yuck.
- 4/5
Room needs new mattresses
- 5/5
Decent size rooms, very clean, staff very friendly and helpful
- 4/5
Nice clean place, and quiet. Only unusual thing was the bath tub had some kind of grippy bumps on it that was scratchy.
- 5/5
Only problem I had was the water pressure in the shower, that was my only issue.
- 5/5
All upside, zero down!
- 5/5
The staff were so kind and welcoming! We had a small situation with the sink and they came to fix it promptly! The room was clean, modern, spacious, comfortable, and cozy. Really enjoyed our stay and will stay here again!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful.
- 2/5
Room was dirty upon check in, called the front desk for help, they said all other rooms were booked but they would send someone to clean, no one ever showed up to clean. Never heard back even after we checked out. Random nails found sticking out around room.
- 4/5
Last minute stay, very nice young man at check in very helpful made for pleasant check in. Btw parking is charged after checkin surprised!!
- 4/5
The property is nice, well maintained, clean and quiet.
- 5/5
I enjoyed just the pay to park I’m not a fan after I spent 200 for the night
- 5/5
Very nice property
- 1/5
I had to log into a web page and put in my credit card number to park, along with my license plate number and the zip code for my company card, which I had to look up on my laptop. This after fighting traffic for three hours and my phone being dead. Every other hotel I've ever stayed at charged parking fees at check in. I'm doing your job. You've extended the middle finger of welcome...
- 4/5
My other bugaboo is that the walls are not insulated for sound. You can hear the TV in the next room. Other than that, it was a nice stay. Breakfast was also nice.
- 4/5
All good
- 5/5
Staff members were amazing!!!!
- 5/5
Everything with the accommodations was great.I haven’t stayed at a Hotel in a long time. I was very displeased with the parking fee for guests. $15 dollars a day for what should of been free parking, ridiculous!!!
- 3/5
Food was unimpressive.
- 5/5
Amazing pool
- 4/5
Clean
- 3/5
Staff are all nice and friendly
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn Poway San Diego and it was very nice. Friendly staff, clean room and it included breakfast and coffee and had a swimming pool. Overall it was very nice, no complaints.
- 4/5
No hot water in sink, showers was good
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, great staff
- 5/5
Loved it, amaizing property
