Reviews
The hotel is praised for its fantastic location, close to various attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. Guests appreciate the friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. The breakfast is often highlighted as excellent. However, the high cost of parking is a common complaint. Some guests also mention that the rooms could use updating.

The property is clean, well maintained, has free hot breakfast, has a lovely little bar with tasty bar food and the best bartender ever: Charlie. Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful. We were allowed to check in several hours early after the staff realized we’d been up since 3 am for an early flight. The sleeper sofa was pretty worn out, but they did notify us they are about to renovate. About four blocks to trolley, convention center, stadium. Be aware Gaslamp is the party area, lots of bars where food is secondary, not many decent/quiet restaurants, and the area can be noisy at night, especially at weekends (ask for a higher floor to help mitigate street noise). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our week there and would definitely stay again. Be sure to go around the corner to Galata Turkish Ice Cream. Delicious and run by the nicest people.
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay in downtown San Diego, it is very close to Petco Park and many restaurants and bars. The staff was helpful and courteous, the daily breakfast is great and the check in and check out process were painless.
- 5/5
Very nice rooms . Great breakfast and perfect location in Gaslamp quarter
- 5/5
NIce location-breakfast was very good. It was aggravating the front desk has no cash to break $20 bills so I could hand out $10 tips to housekeeping/valet/ breakfast staff, etc. to me, that reflects a lack of service from the hotel- silly no one has cash and I am certainly not going to scan a code to Zelle or Venmo a tip.
- 4/5
Room clean but somewhat run down. Great breakfast with offerings continually replenished. Appreciate the free basic WiFi. Room arrangement somewhat awkward the sink was outside the bathroom next to the bed. Could use better storage for suitcases as closet quite small.
- 5/5
Exceptional

Managers are rude and not halpful , wouldn’t ever stay here again !!worst experience ever !!
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Everything was great. Would love to see some upgrades just to improve on things that are older and didn't work. For example, the AC had trouble all night and when we asked for a fan, we never got one. The finishes in the room were rough but didn't take away from the stay.
- 4/5
Place was nice but old style. Breakfast great. Wouldn't recommend car they charge 70 a day!
- 5/5
Top location There were not much of options at the breakfast. that's the only thing that was lacking.
- 4/5
Good Location Paying for parking

Nice clean room, helpful staff, great location.
- 5/5
The room was fantastic, the breakfast was awesome, the location was perfect! Most of all, the staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming! I love this place! When I go to San Diego next I will definitely stay there!
- 5/5
Very nice staff. Had a great time.
- 4/5
The rooms were okay. Love how close we were to down town.
- 5/5
Great property and front desk very courteous
- 3/5
For the price on Saturday and Sunday you should not have to pay $70.00 plus a day to park your car!!!!! The windows facing the street could be more sound proof. We could hear everything!!!

I was charged an extra night and I am currently disputing it. I tried to use the key card to go to my room and pack but the key was disabled. Went to front desk and the person there reactivated card and said something to the effect that I must be just going to pick up my luggage in the room. I told I needed to pack and take a quick shower. That’s when she made a comment that she will charge me an extra night. Then in the elevator the guy behind me in line for front desk help entered and tried to use his key. He said “I just asked for an extension but key is still not working.” When I got to my room I called front desk and asked to speak to manager. Whoever answered said I should call back because manager stepped out. I told the person it’s the manager who needs to call me. Few minutes later manager called me. I asked if she’s the same person I talked to in the lobby and she said yes. I told her I want an extension and she said it’s not available. I told her that the guy in the elevator said he just got an extension. She said maybe he asked for it much earlier. It was a lie because the guy said he just asked for and got an extension. This is unfair treatment and I am disputing the $200 charge for extra night.

Room was clean, A/C made a loud noise when it turned off. TV was in an awkward position difficult to watch from the bed. Breakfast was great! Location to go to Petco Park was excellent! Valet parking was expensive

This is a great little hotel we enjoy. We read somewhere that they will be updating and refreshing the rooms. Which is needed, we had a little suite which is great, location is very good . We have stayed several times, and plan on going back next year. I'm excited to see what they do with the rooms.
- 5/5
Awesome hotel, staff!

Perfect location when you are travelling for conference and also sight seeing.
- 3/5
Paying 70.00 per day for parking was a shock and stuff in car was gone through
- 5/5
The staff were amazing and very accommodating. The location was perfect for our need. We had a lovely stay.
- 5/5
Room was clean, bed comfy, and breakfast for a buffet was good
- 0.5/5
nothing During my stay, I had to pay a $250 deposit. I was told it would be refunded immediately after my stay. Two weeks later, I still haven’t received anything back, and I’ve sent several emails about this, but I haven’t received a single response. I think this is completely unacceptable service, and I expected more from a big-name chain like Marriott. I advise everyone against booking here.
- 5/5
Big breakfast selection. This is the 2nd time we've stayed here for a concert.
- 4/5
The breakfast was good and staff was responsive to needs.
- 5/5
Good stay in great location
- 5/5
Room was clean and well-appointed. Breakfast had eggs, sausage, bagels, fruit, and you could make waffles - great and included. My room was above Sixth street - very busy and noisy on a Saturday night. However, the hotel was excellent.
- 5/5
Lovely stay in the Gaslamp District, it’s right around everything and is walkable to a lot of places. Hotel room was well maintained and clean on arrival as well as throughout our stay. Staff is very kind and helpful as well as free breakfast being a huge plus!
- 4/5
Hotel shows some age Gaslamp area nice in parts. Seemed dirty
- 4/5
Going thru Expedia you cannot get upgrades etc. they do distinguish between customer who books with Expedia and those who book with marriott
- 5/5
Was able to check-in early, received an upgrade, and really appreciate the friendly, but professional staff.
- 5/5
We didn't eat breakfast
- 4/5
Yes it did
- 4/5
Generally, the room is spacious and comfortable. The location is just right, close to many restaurants and within walking distance to the trolley station. There is no safe box. The nearest bus station is about 15 minutes away.

Great location! Staff was great
- 5/5
We definitely would return there. The room was great.
- 5/5
Location & Staff were amazing! The valet parking was expensive but I guess thats just SD honestly. The Location is walkable to everything , literally everything. Clean rooms and very accommodating. Had down alternative pillows (foam) but not a blanket. It was fine , turn up the thermostat is all

Access to stadium, food, & nightlife. Room rates were pricey. Parking was also very expensive. Getting to & from the hotel was difficult due to Padres games and traffic.

- 3/5
I feel because I purchased my stay om Expedia when I got to check in the hotel changed my room to a handicap room. I feel had I booked with the Residence direct I would not have had a room change. Also they do not clean your room you must request that. They are the Residence Inn you would think they would want to separate themselves from the rest.
- 4/5
Nice stay, quick check in .
- 4/5
The hotel is located in a great area within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops and the ballpark which is good because parking is valet only for $70 a night! The staff is very friendly. The room was relatively comfortable. My only complaint- there isn’t convenient outlets to charge your electronics.
- 4/5
Nice central location for Gaslamp area and walking distance to Padres games. Property was very nice and clean. A bit noisy out on the street. A/C was really high and hallways were freezing Parking was too high for guests

Yes
- 5/5
Centrally located. Staff friendly.
- 2/5
These are very basic expectations for any hotel stay, and unfortunately, they were not met. I hope management addresses these issues to prevent future guests from having a similar experience.
- 2/5
The Room had an unpleasant smell when entering the room. There was hair left over from either the cleaning staff or previous tenant. Both the conditioner and body wash gels were out.
- 4/5
Clean room, near convention center
- 4/5
They provided me a nice birthday card and gift. I was really surprised. Staff were excellent. Parking was very expensive. Breakfast was over crowded. Otherwise a nice stay.
- 5/5
Great prices, great staff, clean, best hotel in downtown San Diego!
- 4/5
Very nice facility. Very polite staff. Be ready for a daily $70 parking charge.
- 4/5
I didn't like there was no crib it was a play pen .
- 4/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Great location for exploring the area. It’s very walkable. Very safe with many places to dine, stop for a beverage or shop. Having the kitchen was a great option. Very helpful staff. 10/10
- 5/5
Great breakfast, well appointed kitchenette.
- 5/5
The location is perfect, near to many stores and good restaurants. I needed to buy a small product that I can only find in the USA, and they agreed to receive and hold it until I arrived a few days later.
- 5/5
Great location and a lot to do. Staff and hotel were great
- 4.5/5
The location is excellent, the heart of the city. The dog part and a playground were 5 minutes walk from the hotel. We truly enjoyed our stay! We parked a car on a valet parking, and the next day the car was dirty and covered in come sticky thing. I am not sure where it stayed overnight but the valet person wasn't able to explain why that happened. I say this is one real downside
- 5/5
The property was conveniently located which made getting around easy. It was clean and the staff was friendly, helpful and very professional
- 3/5
$70 Valet fee!! I did not see this when booking. Staff were average. Nothing special about this place. Breakfast was good.
- 5/5
Room was great, really clean, staff were all very helpful.
- 4/5
P.S Valet parking is pretty steep at $70 a night.
- 4/5
Will stay again
- 5/5
It was all good at this place. It, however, looks like Expedia also charged me for a similar room, same nights, at Courtyard by Marriott, San Diego, Little Italy. I did not stay there. My executive assistant has been trying to reach Expedia to reverse that charge.
- 4/5
I'm not a fan of the breakfast potatoes.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, parking is expensive but once you’re there you can walk the Gaslamp District.
- 5/5
Good location for conference and restaurants
- 5/5
There was no shuttle and the breakfast was adequate. The room and location were excellent. Great staff also.
- 1/5
No. Upset because I didn't know Expedia was with Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Downtown/Gaslamp Quarter, SD. I wasn't prepared for charges for up-graded room, charged also for overnight parking. Very disappointed.
- 3/5
Yes
- 5/5
Great location and friendly front desk staff. Spacious, clean and nice room.
- 5/5
So close to Petco Park and a short trip from the airport. A little expensive but all the hotels around this area run similar. Very nice buffet breakfast. The restaurant at the hotel was good. Our room had a refrigerator, micowave, a small stovetop, glass cups, plates, silverware and pans. People mentioned the sink not in the bathroom but in the room. It did not bother us. No security box in the closet which I missed.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great, different things every morning.
- 5/5
Very nice and peaceful stay. Room was clean friendly staff. Great location. Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 4/5
The Public parking is very expensive
- 5/5
the breakfast was wonderful- great way to start off your day. All staff was absolutely lovely and accommodating

- 5/5
Beautiful property and located In a great area
- 5/5
Room was very clean and bed was cozy,
- 5/5
A good hotel
- 4/5
Parking is definitely not easy in Gas Lamp Area. Parking Structure next door and valet cost about $70 per day/night! Other than that it’s nice. Great location.
- 5/5
Yes it was great everyday and the Bkfst Staff too
- 4/5
I had a brief one night stay so I didn’t get a chance to use all the amenities. However the hot breakfast was decent and the hotel was in a great location close to restaurants and the trolley.
- 4/5
Avarage room,food
- 4/5
Our room was nice and clean. I will be back.
- 5/5
Everything went well. Great stay!
- 5/5
Great location near Gas Lamp area. Rooms were very nice with an excellent free breakfast. Would stay at this location again.
- 2/5
I am a huge Marriot fan but this experience was very disappointing since I was on a special vacation.
- 2/5
Low level of hotel
- 5/5
The staff was great and were very kind to me and other guest when I was around the lobby .
- 5/5
Clean, good breakfast Included , very comfortable bed and pillows . Good water pressure in the bath . My room had a kitchen with refrigerator , dishwasher , microwave and range . I didn’t use but it may be a bonus for someone else .

Staff was very friendly & accommodating
- 5/5
The Residence Inn in the Gaslamp District was very nice. My room was spacious and the staff was awesome! The location was very good for the convention center, Gaslamp and the trolley. There are a lot of restaurants about.
- 5/5
Very affordable rate Good breakfast variety
- 2/5
Points, I still have yet to hear from hotel and points continue to not be reflected on account.
- 2/5
It seemed to me that ìt was "cincy". You have to pay for a fridge, internet, and had to re-connect each dayy
- 2/5
Couch in room was torn, called for towels in the AM and delivered 2 hours later after I called again. Fire alarm went off at 3:00 am was evacuated ended up exiting through the back where the homeless sleep. When we walked around the building to the front, no one from the front stated why the alarm went off, waited out there for an hour and a half. I asked the front desk and they said it was a false alarm horrible, horrible, horrible.
- 1/5
Niners lost
- 5/5
Friendly service. Walkable to restaurants & bars. Nice stay! Would come again
- 5/5
Awesome
- 3/5

- 5/5
Front desk, Christine ((sp?) is very sweet, caring, funny, relatable & professional. So glad she is part of the hotel team.
- 5/5
Great location for all of the events we had. Parking was valet only, but it worked for us. The room had a nice view and plenty of space. Would come back again!

- 3/5
After 1-2 hours breakfast my husband got diarrhea
- 5/5
Clean, courteous staff, good location.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect
- 5/5
Clean, spacious room, welcoming staff, nice thick towels and very comfortable bed and pillows!
- 5/5
Only stayed a night, but definitely would return when we come back into San Diego. Staff were pleasant and suite was clean. No complaints.
- 5/5
The only issue we had was the parking. It is not clear that parking is not widely available and it costs $64 per day to use the valet service.
- 5/5
Nice Residence Inn
- 5/5
Did not have time for any breakfast
- 5/5
I definitely plan to come back and stay here again and again.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
This location was super close to Petco Park, Convention Center, and the Metro Rail.
- 1/5
The lady at the front desk told me that she would waive one day of valet parking 4 me, but the mgr only told her to waive $40 of it. I didn’t find out until I chked out that she was not going honor what she said.
- 5/5
An amazing space practically next to Petco Park! If you're going to see a band or some other event at the stadium, choose this spot! Good breakfast, folks are amazing, and love the atmosphere!
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
Great location and amazing staff. Room had everything we needed.
- 5/5
The room was great, and the staff were very courteous
- 4/5
Clean room. Good kitchenette
- 4/5
Every thing is good . But only issue about parking , not for free . And too expensive
- 5/5
Very nice clean room and amenities and staff was pleasant and we love the location.
- 5/5
I love the property great location parking is an issue but other then that perfect stay
- 5/5
Clean rooms with very helpful staff.
- 4/5
Amazing stay and clean
- 4/5
Nice staff, good breakfast bar. Great location!
- 5/5
great!
- 5/5
Convenience
- 4/5
Good to have more fresh vege.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly. Room was okay-it was clean. The restaurant service was non-existent. We sat at a table for 5-10 minutes. NO ONE said hi or anything even though they looked at us and made eye contact. There were 4 people at the bar, 2 at a table. The bartender noticed us and didn’t say anything. We never saw anyone else so we left. The breakfast was good
- 5/5
Nice hotel in the middle of everywhere we needed to be. Jay at the front desk was the best checking us in. Valet was amazing. Room was perfect nice view of San Diego. Overall great stay
- 5/5
Clean, Quiet, Friendly Staff
- 4/5
Very good and roomy hotel. 250 deposit and 65 dollar parking sucks. Youre better off staying a little further and getting an uber to be honest. Good experience though.
- 5/5
Fffff
- 5/5
It was very quick and easy. Room was ready before the 4pm check in time.
- 4/5
It was nice
- 4/5
We only stayed overnight and left arpund 3am so we didnt partake in breakfast.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly.
- 2/5
Staff not very friendly. Glasses in the room had lipstick mark on it. Not washed enough. Comforter on the bed was very bad. I give it 2 star hotel.
- 2/5
Staff was amazing, but the room was terrible. It was so hot, the AC didn't appear to work even when I had it set to 70* nothing turned on, the shower had very very low pressure, and having a bed right next to a semi transparent bathroom door is crazy along with the sink being in a separate room from the bathroom
- 5/5
Room was very clean and spacious. Has a kitchen, seating space and nice bathroom. Bed was very comfy. Will definitely stay here again. Only bad thing is expensive on site parking.
- 5/5
Staff was attentive and hotel clean. Amenities were right on with affordability
- 5/5
I had considered more expensive hotels, but I’m so glad I went with this one because I ended up passing all the other hotels, which were all within blocks of each other. The only minor complaint I have is that the room was quite warm by the end of my stay, despite adjusting the thermostat. The hallway and the rest of the hotel were cool. Overall, I’m happy with my experience.
- 5/5
The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good. The only thing that I noticed was that someone knocked at my door very loud. I did not answer, and I could hear them knocking at other doors. That made me feel unsafe. I contacted the reception to let them know that someone was going around knocking on people's doors. they said the security guard would be checking to make sure everyone was safe. Other than that, I had a great time.
- 5/5
Amazing stay
- 5/5
Area was open and plenty to do
- 3/5
It was fine. Outdated decor
- 5/5
Location in the Gaslamp District of San Diego.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and really easy to get to from the train station. Walkable to our concert location and food options were nice. Overall, nice stay
- 5/5
It was a very nice place to stay at! The people were welcoming and the environment was clean! It was a great experience to stay at, thank you.
- 3/5
Street noise is extremely loud at night from bars and restaurants. Housekeeping did not come even when requested. Bedding is inexpensive and not warm enough.
- 5/5
Great location. Close to everything downtown. Friendly staff. Accommodated my request for late checkout with no additional charge.
- 4/5
Great location with wonderful restaurants right across the street. Clean rooms and the comfiest mattress I can remember in a hotel. The staff was great and checked me in early with a smile.
- 4/5
Great place in the middle of Gas Lamp. Only issue is that they don’t accept Apple Pay.
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff.
- 4/5
Not very quit
- 5/5
The most comfortable beds ever!!! Big big breakfast with all the items tasteful! Will be going back for the 3rd time this past 2 months. Highly recommend
- 3/5
Definitely not a family friendly hotel. You can hear the loud music outside the rooms til the early morning hours. Room also smelled musty/like a wet towel. Breakfast was good, nice variety. Would be better if it was not near the lobby, you could hear a car alarm going off for a while very loudly. It was nice to be near many eating areas, I would just never stay again due to the *hefty parking fee (valet only), or find your own wherever you can, loudness of the area.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Counter staff and valet were very quick and friendly.
- 5/5
Clean room ,friendly staff, great location
- 4/5
The hotel itself is great, the area it is situated in... not so much. Theres so many homeless around the hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was fine except the valet kids were not friendly every time we went to the rental car.
- 5/5
Everyone was nice, the room was sooo spacious
- 2/5
We only stayed one night and forfeited our second night since I had my two teen sons with me. Not a family hotel at all and very gross for the price we paid for it. Don’t recommend it at all.
- 4/5
Perfect for Petco Park.
- 5/5
Clean room and Great Staff. Recommend this place
- 5/5
Perfect location for a PETCO game and fun.
- 4/5
In the center of it all with valet parking and a nice restaurant in the hotel. Warm staff and clean quiet accommodations.
- 4/5
$65.00 parking fee, a bit inflated...
- 4/5
Staff pleasant - food in bar could be easily ordered for pickup to take back to room - rooms need room safes - room service every other day- breakfast plenty of options to choose from - easy valet parking
- 4/5
Pipe broke during the night room flooded
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Spacious and well located but dated. Good value.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Not too happy wit front desk staff (only one person in particular)
- 5/5
Room was very cozy, had kitchen area (fridge, microwave, dishes to utilize - very convenient), bathroom was a bit small but made sense with space for kitchen, had a desk so I could do my work, comfy bed. Overall happy with the hotel.
- 5/5
Easily accessible if you want to bike around town, which is what we did. Very clean nice room specially great if you need to cook any meals full kitchen provided.
- 4/5
Location was good. The property needs an upgrade.
- 5/5
Business friendly, plenty to do after work and grab a niuce dinner....staff ws awesome even their late night curew.
- 5/5
The was a musty smell in the room when we arrived
- 5/5
Clean rooms, friendly staff and bar staff. Enjoyed the stay. Would definitely return to this location
- 5/5
Great propety
- 5/5
Avoid the parking next door
- 5/5
We had a little hiccup but the manager and front desk staff were on it. They took great care of us and gave us excellent customer service. We will be back and really appreciate you ALL!
- 4/5
I will say that the front desk staff and check in and check out were so friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Hotel was fantastic. Staff was amazing. The location is perfect downtown. You’re surrounded by everything and walking distance. Will definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Excellent service at check-in, great recommendations for local restaurants. Friendly atmosphere!!
- 4/5
I was only there for one night, & I liked my stay. The sweet potato tater tots at Toasted were reallyyy good! Nice crisp on them!
- 4/5
Good customer service, easy check in, hot breakfast, only complaint i have is a lack of outlets at beside. Everything else was great.
- 5/5
Awesome!
- 5/5
Rooms are big and spacious.buffet was delicious
- 5/5
Pleasant staff. Clean, roomy & convenient to restaurants & entertainment.
- 4/5
Breakfast was delicious but cold even in the warmers. I paid a lot of money for a view of a dirty alley and the AC on the roof which was loud. Ugh!!!
- 5/5
The reservation and check in was easy. Hotel and room very clean. Great breakfast in the morning. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Love this hotel.
- 4/5
Parking is expensive. $65/night.. hotel was nice, bed comfy, service great.

The only thing i didnt like was that when they came to clean my room the sheets wasnt changed. I would prefer fresh sheets. But overall this is my go to spot in San Diego Downtown

Hotel was great i will be staying there when i travel to Dan Diego. Hotel is in the gaslamp area of downtown San Diego which comes alive at night and the weekend.
- 3/5
Room was terribly hot, despite the thermostat reading appropriate temperatures. Front desk was fine but not worth the hassle. Pool was very small and shallow.
- 4/5
Lots a space, very convenient for baseball game, good location downtown. Clean, good value.
- 4/5
Good hotel but surrounding area is give and take, it’s a good area overall but probably is most homeless roaming area you ever seen in the country, and no parking lot offered by the hotel overnight parking in the nearest lot is $60 just so you all aware

Stayed here to see the Dodgers play the Padres soooo convenient close to the game!!!

Dislikes: unsightly smells around the property, price gouging parking rates
- 4/5
Parking is extremely expensive, should be on the notes of just saying available parking. Would not be back there.
- 4/5
Parking price is expensive with only valet

As odd as this might sound, I was sold on the pillows. I have a hard time sleeping and have gone through so many pillows on my journey to better sleep. I slept so comfortably and considered stealing a pillow or two. I didn’t but will take one if they’d like to send me a couple!

Nice hotel in a perfect location for what we wanted. We wanted to go to Petco Park and the walk was maybe 5 minutes. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.

One of the best hotels I stayed in enjoy my stay

And the young kids they hire Treat you car badly.
- 5/5
The studio we stayed in was just the right size for my boyfriend and me, and we loved the view. The breakfast was delicious, and the valet attendants provided excellent service. Overall, our trip was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable, and I definitely plan to return in the future. The only downside was that I had requested something special for a birthday weekend, but unfortunately, there were no surprise treats or a bottle left for the birthday girl.
- 5/5
We came to watch some baseball games at Petco. The walk was less than 5 minutes from the Hotel. The continental breakfast full of choices and fresh food. The servers were awesome, they kept the hot food coming. The rooms were immaculate and beds were very comfortable. The Valet service was 10/10, thank you Chance and Alexa for your exceptional service. Our stay at the Hotel was excellent except the check in clerk Jess needs some classes in greeting guests.

Amazing location and friendly staff

The $65 overnight parking is the scam. Which was not disclosed. In the details. Should be for every hotel. Everything was fine otherwise. Nice employees
- 3/5
The hotel was nice, and enjoyed the breakfast. The bathroom had water damage next to the tub, and a stain on the lounge seat in my room (this was a minor issue and could have been overlooked by the cleaner). The worst part was showing up and realizing you had to pay $65 to valet park each time you wanted to come and go. They said this was normal for downtown. I did not know that, and maybe it was in the fine print, and I did not see it. Either way, the staff had no empathy and did not care as iff this was a normal routine for them.

I really enjoyed my stay at this Marriott. The valet and front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and check-in was quick and efficient. My room had a suite-style layout that felt a bit outdated, but what stood out the most was the bed, it was by far the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced at a Marriott. Because of this experience, I’ll definitely be staying here from now on.
- 4/5
Nice area 5 minutes walk to convention center and lots of restaurants nearby only downside is the valet parking too expensive $65 /night and no EV charging station
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable room. The kitchen with full refrigerator is a nice touch. We did utilize that but no other part of the kitchen. Hotel overall was very nice and great location. Valet parking is way too pricey though. $65 a night is ridiculous, more expensive than Vegas and they are getting away from charging for parking. For this reason, I may not stay here again.
- 5/5
Excellent hot breakfast (not just a Continental breakfast). It had everything you could want (except meat), like waffles and scrambled eggs, every kind of bakery item, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, and cereal.
- 5/5
This hotel was phenomenal. I enjoyed my stay and the room was super clean. Right in the heart of the gas lamp and close to everything including the convention center, Seaport Village and more. I also enjoyed having my own kitchen (with pots & pans to cook) and full-size fridge. The staff was super friendly and saw to my each and every need. Will definitely be looking to stay here again when coming back to San Diego.

Great customer service and very knowledgeable and helpful staff
- 5/5
The hotel’s location in close proximity to Petco Park is highly advantageous. Situated in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, it provides convenient access to a variety of nightlife activities. Additionally, it is merely a five-minute walk to the train station, which facilitates travel to Old Town. This hotel is an excellent option for guests who do not require a vehicle.

My wife and I stayed at the Residence Inn because we went to a couple Padres games. The hotel is in a terrific location! A short walk to the stadium and there was lots of shopping and restaurants around the property. The only minor issue was that our room’s “view” was of the air conditioning system (lots of pipes). It was a minor inconvenience and, since we had received a reduced rate for the room, not an all together unexpected room assignment. That was the only issue and it was very minor. The breakfast is solid with good variety. The area serving it is nice but very very crowded. We would happily stay here again. It was a short four minute walk to the stadium!

We had a great stay!
- 5/5
I will definitely go back.. it was central to everything and the stay was wonderful!
- 4/5
The lobby and common areas were very pretty and relaxing. The hotel's breakfast was fantastic! It had a great variety of food and beverages. The hotel had 4 elevators that kept the wait to a minimum. The showerhead in the room was great as we really enjoyed the mist setting. We did not sit by the pool as it had didn't look to had been cleaned for a while. We also found a glass in our room with lipstick stains.

Bed super comfy and breakfast is good. Definitely coming back soon.

Great location with lots of good food and nightlife nearby.

Great hotel to stay. Clean and comfortable. Perfect location to shop and great restaurants.

Valet parking is expensive
- 2/5
We enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn Gaslamp, clean rooms, great location, and friendly staff. But we left feeling frustrated and misled by the $65 per night valet parking fee that wasn’t clearly disclosed during booking. Yes, it’s mentioned in the fine print deep in the “Optional extras” section on Marriott’s website, but it’s not upfront during the booking flow, no warning before checkout, no bold notification, nothing obvious. That’s a huge added cost, especially for guests planning longer stays. It feels intentionally buried, and that lack of transparency left a bad taste. For a brand like Marriott, I expect better. Be honest with your guests. We likely would’ve made a different choice if we had seen the full cost upfront.
