Reviews
The hotel generally receives positive reviews for its location, staff, and amenities such as the pool and restaurant. However, there are recurring complaints about the cleanliness of rooms, issues with plumbing, and problems with parking fees and wedding discounts not being honored.
- Great location
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Cleanliness issues in rooms
- Problems with parking fees and wedding discounts

The rooms were nicely, renovated and clean, and the staff was helpful. Short walk to downtown Santa Cruz or the beach. Quiet overall - we were on the 4th floor.
- 2/5
The beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning in our room did t work we had it worked on to no avail. You could tell the property was old and they tried to make it look new and cool it just felt dirty.
- 1.5/5
It is a Bonvoy - only reason. Chose a rate online for the free breakfast. Loud HVAC in the room did not allow sleep. Construction on room 501 in the room next to me (ironically placed down the hall to avoid noise...) was very annoying. I would NOT recommend this
- 4/5
We had a great stay. The pool area was very nice, and the kids especially enjoyed the pool, hot tub, drinks, and snacks available nearby. We did not eat at the small on-site restaurant, but it looked inviting. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shower with stone flooring was a nice touch. This is a great place for families visiting Santa Cruz. We would definitely stay here again.
- 0.5/5
In a nice location, proximity to things. Found dirty underwear under the bed. Also neighbors blasting movies/music all night long. Paper thin walls but staff won’t help.
- 4/5
Very good
- 3/5
The lobby and pool area are very nice. The pool was packed with kids, at all hours. Overall, I was disappointed. The room was small, with scuffed floors and looking a little worse for wear. The shower still had hair from the last occupant. There was no microwave and the prices at the bar and for snacks was very high. Common areas (hallways, elevator) were dirty with leaves and debris. I sincerely question the 4 star rating and why I spent so much for the experience I had.
- 5/5
I love the Hotel Paradox, great amenities, excellent customer service. My favorite hotel for my travels to Santa Cruz
- 5/5
Checking in was very easy. Staff very polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and neat. Pool area was clean and they had games for kids.
- 2/5
It’s not Hotel, it’s Motel !!! Overrated!
- 4.5/5
Had breakfast at hotel.... it was good food but our server wasn't very attentive to serving us AT ALL.....
- 5/5
Stayed here for my kids tournament games and decided to stay a few days as a mini vacay. Kids loved the jacuzzi and pool. I really like how they offered popcorn & s’mores. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Will stay here next time I come visit.
- 4/5
Reception and foyer area was nice. Staff were friendly. The pool and gym were great and kept clean. Given a room with an accessible bathroom which was not very clean and also the shower head over the bath was extremely low. I am 6’3” and taking a shower was painful on my knees having to limbo back under the shower head. Didn’t enjoy that part. There was enough room for a taller shower head on a longer adjustable rail. Easy fix there.

Everything Nothing
- 2.5/5
We asked to have an earlier checkin. No effort was made. We were attending a wedding and had to leave by about 2pm. I do not believe that all the guests checked out at mid day. They could have had the room ready at staggered times. Considering how much we paid we did not receive any value. It certainly wasn't worth the $500 a night that we paid. The rooms were very basic, the beds were comfortable but there was no effort to make our stay worth even $120.
- 5/5
From our arrival to leaving we have been really impressed from start to finish. Highlights include Early check in and upgraded room Complimetary drinks in the evening Smore kits for in the evening Hire/borrow beach equipment Free coffee at breakfast AMAZING bed. Probably the most comfy bed I have ever slept in Great breakfast This place is good for couples and familys Staff were really helpful

Everything was perfect 👌
- 5/5
Probably the best hotel in Santa Cruz. The staff was welcoming and the room was clean and up to date. It’s a dog friendly hotel so that was a plus. The restaurant is also top notch. We’re definitely rebooking for next year. Very cool hotel.

The lobby, bar and restaraunt area were gorgeous. Our room was well appointed and had a nice, hip vibe. We wish we had move time for the pool but it did look quite nice. No negatives this trip.
- 4.5/5
No negatives this trip.
- 4/5
Comfy hotel for a family trip. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, both heated and open until 10pm. The lobby also had comfortable places to chill and play games. The room was pretty comfy, but the AC unit could have been more modern. It was hard to keep the room the temp we wanted. We also would have liked an easy way to get hot water on demand for tea and making baby bottles. We had to ask the bar for hot water instead. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel and would come back again.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Had no idea from the description and the pictures that there would be so many kids there, in the pool and the lobby. My kids are grown and I was looking for a nice getaway hotel for me and my husband. Didn’t expect the hotel to be so full of children.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Location, decor Too many children but what can you do?

- 5/5
Staff was super helpful!
- 5/5
Bartenders, front desk, waitstaff are awesome. Rooms are great, pool awesome!
- 2/5
The room itself was extremely small, honestly felt like the size of a jail cell, and it was not clean. There was a noticeable weird smell that never really went away, which made it hard to relax. Between the lack of functioning amenities, the cleanliness issues, and the uncomfortable room, it just was not a great stay.
- 2/5
Expedia informed me this would be a $376 stay and I was skeptical when others were saying there is a parking fee they charge and inform you about (they should include this! Being informed of the parking fee upon arrival is ridiculous) When we arrived to the hotel, the front desk personnel informed us there is a usual parking fee but this time around it’s complementary. After our stay, we still weren’t told what the price of the parking fee was. Come to find out it was $28/ per night!! We paid a total of $84 for parking! We definitely won’t be returning to this hotel or any Marriot partners. Price gouging at its finest!
- 5/5
Great location, comfy beds and unique atmosphere, we loved our stay!
- 5/5
Really cool decor. Loved the barn door to the bathroom. But there's no lock on it.
- 2/5
Went to the local diner for food. Did not use the pool.
- 4/5
I didn't expect to have to pay for parking though. There is plenty of area for parking.
- 3/5
Room was fine, beds comfy; pool lovely; food surprisingly good. However, we had issues with housekeeping. They didn't come two of our four days (I checked -- housekeeping was supposed to be daily), despite knocking on our door early every morning. The third evening, we returned to our room after a long day out to find our room deadbolted OPEN. My daughter and I were scared, but thankfully no one was in our room and things like her laptop weren't stolen. But it was rather disconcerting and rattling. The room was half-cleaned -- the housekeeper clearly got called away and then forgot to come back, but leaving the room deadbolted open is crazy.
- 5/5
Staff was helpful and very friendly. Loved the uniqueness of the property.
- 5/5
great location, nice restaurant, relaxing pool, very much enjoyed
- 5/5
Great heated pool. Happy to have a restaurant on-site and so many more within walking distance.
- 2/5
Walls are thin - can hear the guests next door blowing their nose, coughing, flushing the toilet, etc. Said they would waive parking if we signed up for a Marriott account, which we did, and then they charged our card anyway. Still trying to get a refund on it.
- 5/5
Pool seating is so comfy and cozy. Hot tub is super warm and has powerful jets!
- 2/5
When we returned later that evening, I was able to examine it more closely—and that’s when things changed. The room did not feel clean at all. There were what appeared to be ketchup or possibly blood stains on the wall, along with noticeable dirt marks. Even worse, we found a gummy bear in the bed, which made it clear that the sheets had not been properly changed. That completely turned me off. I felt uncomfortable the entire night and barely got any sleep. Bracelet in chair. I brought my concerns to the front desk. Initially, I was offered free parking, which I already had, along with a $40 breakfast credit since I had become a member. Eventually, they refunded half of my stay, which I appreciated. However, I later realized that I was still charged for parking—despite being told it would be free. The hotel’s entrance and overall appearance are nice, but the cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. It honestly feels like the cleaning service needs to be reevaluated. There needs to be more pride taken in maintaining the rooms. At this point, I don’t feel like going through the hassle of cal

Rooms were clean pool was fun and bartender Jeff was amazing
- 3/5
The property was okay. Our room had a bathroom sink with cracks, a floor that had soft spots and a broken lamp. The place was packed with children at the pool. Not quite what I expected.
- 5/5
This property has been completely transformed into a friendly, clean, and amenity heavy favorite of ours in Santa Cruz when we are traveling with our kids. Heads and tails above most of the other area hotels.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet.
- 4/5
Pool was great and plenty of lounge chairs available.
- 5/5
We arrived later in the evening and could only stay one night. But the property is very nice. The room was very clean and well appointed, appears to have recently been updated. Our room overlooked the pool and it is amazing. Large beautiful pool, hot tub, fire pit area and more. We had breakfast at the restaurant in the morning before leaving and it was excellent. And the service in the restaurant was outstanding. The property called

Excellent value for the price. Microwaves and a small business center for printing would be great.
- 5/5
The restaurant was convenient and I enjoyed what I ordered.
- 5/5
Great poool area
- 5/5
We always stay here when in the area. Love this hotel and VERY dog friendly. Restaurant and bar are great. Fun games too.
- 5/5
This is a gem in Santa Cruz, everything about this hotel from the food to the room to the service was great.
- 5/5
Loved the pool, staff and fire pit outside my room!
- 3/5
If your assigned room 220 ask for a different room. Very noisy, we couldn’t sleep. Overall the hotel is nice, but the restaurant and bar close a little early.
- 3/5
I personally did not go in the pool or pool area, however I'm the view from my room was absolutely stunning. The lights and outdoor bar area made in you feel as if your were staying at a exclusive resort.
- 4/5
The rooms need a lot of help. The fact that they have pets allowed in the rooms, makes it feel dirty. They try to make it feel current and clean by having laminate floors, which in turn makes it feel old and dirty instead. The rooms are not cozy at all. The bed was comfortable, the staff was nice. The grounds are nice for families.
- 5/5
Great place to stay.

- 5/5
Staff was great! We stayed one night over the holiday weekend and enjoyed our evening at the restaurant/bar.

Amenities and staff
- 3/5
every time I stay here I tell them I am not parking in the lot and they ALWAYS charge me for parking anyway, then I have to take the time to call them, wait on hold and get the charges reversed. So annoying..
- 3/5
Rooms are good and staff too. It was after 10 pm when loud adults making noise throughout the night, very loud. Didn’t sleep well.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel, would stay again !!
- 5/5
Super cute place with clean and modern decor. Bright and cheery room. Cool lounge area. The pool and jacuzzi looked beautiful, but I didn’t have time to use them. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great room
- 4/5
We have stayed here well over a dozen times. The last few years the hotel has declined in quality. We still prefer this hotel over other places we have stayed over the past 12 years (we come Santa Cruz 3-4 times a year to visit our daughter) but has moved from “excellent” to “very good”. The shower faucet handle kept falling off, light bulbs were burned out, hot tub jets were not working, room frig was not working, other minor defects.
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Beer and wine hour offered. Nice lobby with games.
- 3/5
The room was clean and updated. TV only had 3 channels. This is an updated motel, not a hotel. Nothing special, for the price I was expecting more.
- 5/5
Love the decor, great hot tub, clean and artsy. Convenient location. Friendly staff! Great value.
- 4/5
lovely staff
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Ample parking

Rooms were great, the staff was awesome and the people staying there are also pretty great! Will definitely stay there again the next time we visit Santa Cruz!
- 5/5
Amazing! Very relaxing experience ❤️

Guests were found smoking in the hallway. 30 min after informing the front desk, those guests were still smoking. The pool area smelled of of marijuana. The breakfast had very poor vegetarian options.

Cool vibes, nice staff, great pool
- 3/5
Hotel looked fun and has a good vibe. The rooms need help. Floor was all scratch’s up black all over. Shower has rocks in the shower floor. Super hard and felt slimy. Pool area was nice and had a good vibe there too

From the outside and lobby you have high expectations for this hotel but the rooms are not clean. From the first look they seem clean but upon inspection they are dirty, they don’t clean the sheets because there was blood on the comforter and they didn’t smell clean and the floor left my socks dirty. The ac doesn’t work properly and is extremely loud. You are not able to drop the temperature on the ac, it stay at 67 & the room is muggy. There was also a spider crawling on our bed. Would not recommend this hotel, even if it’s just for the night.
- 5/5
Staff extremely sweet and efficient
- 5/5
Overall, great spot in Santa Cruz - once inside the hotel was very pleased with the selection. This is the second one of the Autograph hotels we have stayed in and we were happy. The first level has everything you need. Beautiful restaurant, bar and pool area. It was perfect for our friend's party and made for such a lovely gathering before going out for the evening. Thank you for your hospitality!

The staff was extremely helpful & friendly! The room was perfect.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 1/5
First, the room keys failed for two separate rooms, requiring maintenance just to gain access. Not a great start when you are simply trying to settle in. Second, the atmosphere is nothing like what is advertised. The property is dominated by loud, wealthy party-focused young guests. Skateboards, noise, and constant social activity made it feel more like a daily party venue than a place for rest. Even on a Sunday night, it was anything but peaceful. If you are looking for energy, nightlife, and a social scene, this may be your place. If you are looking for quiet, professionalism, or adult calm, this is not it. I should have trusted the skateboards. Disappointing experience overall.
- 5/5
Love staying here
- 1/5
Service at breakfast was not good. There were a lot of staff idle and not attentive
- 5/5
I truly enjoyed my stay! The front desk team was incredibly helpful, the flow water in the lobby was a great touch, and the hot sauna was very relaxing. I would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
The staff was great. The dryers were out so the staff was trying to accomedate as best they could. The ATM was also out so we couldnt tip housekeeping. Overall, the stay was great. They were working through unforseen circumstances.
- 4/5
I don't know if breakfast is actually included there was no mention of it on check in and when I did go to breakfast on Sunday morning it was not welcoming buffett. I stayed 2 nights but my room trash was not picked up or the coffee items refilled. I did not know it was a connecting room. There was no prices for the snacks to purchase so I paid a high price for that. There wasn't a wine opener in the room to open the wine that was offered. I want to give a benefit of doubt but just small missteps kept me asking questions. Like if the water bottles are refillable then why not reuseable mugs in the rooms opposed to paper cups without lids? If the phones don't work remove them. I admit I did pick this because the marriott name was attached and I might stay here again.
- 5/5
No complaints.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Nice food selection and presentation. Staff in restaurant/bar are great and build nice conversations.
- 1/5
This is my third time staying here, and the 2nd time that the room was disgusting. Since COVID, my wife brings cleaning supplies to every hotel we stay at and does a deep clean upon arrival. This has turned out to be a good way to gauge how our stay will be. The first time we were here, it was fine. The last two times, the toilets were dirty, multiple surfaces hadn't been wiped down, and the sheets/covers showed visible stains. Luckily, we brought our own sheets, pillow cases, and blankets to be able to sleep on top of. One of the covers in our room looked to have old blood stains on it. Not to mention, there was a giant booger on one of the curtains and what looked to be drops of blood on the floor near the foot of the bed. I called the front desk 5 separate times during our stay, and only one time was my call answered. This was the call I made to request new towels and a trash pick up 1 hour and 45 minutes after I had asked one of the staff. The other calls were to try to address the other issues. We were essentially giving this place a second chance and they blew it. We will never be going back.
- 5/5
Room for nice staff was great
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5

- 4/5
The room was ok. A bit older. The coffee creamer was expired, and the room phone did not work. We also did not get our room cleaned on Monday when we needed it. They did send someone up to replenish our towels, tp, and some supplies. The staff was nice and courteous. What is nice is having access to filtered water.
- 5/5
Great place to stay in Santa Cruz. The pool is great and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are a bit outdated and smaller but still comfortable.
- 5/5
This hotel is a great deal
- 3/5
There was no housekeeping service or towels. I asked for a kettle twice that never arrived. The front desk was chronically busy and impossible to get through.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved my stay the staff was amazing I loved seeing Rainbow was still working there after 3 years since my last trip and the rooms have been redecorated and it was beautiful. Can’t wait to come back
- 2/5
Everything was fine until they charged me 50 for deposit and 28 for parking
- 5/5
Beautiful restaurant and bar. Clean room. Cozy bed.
- 1/5
When a GM in the hospitality space refuses to listen to a complaint and feels the need to intimate a guest with sharp words, it’s time to check out immediately. Food sub par. Bartenders service level would be better at a county fair or snack shack for a kids local baseball game.
- 5/5
Great spot, unique, clean, friendly...great for families too.
- 4/5
Usually a perfect stay. This was the first time things were not working.
- 4/5
Really great room and amenities. The check in process wasn’t smooth, my room key didn’t work twice so 3 TIMES I had to bring all my luggage and small child back and forth to my room before we were finally able to get inside at 8pm at night. The receptionist was waiting for maintenance to call her back before finally realizing she could just put me in another room. Other than that part, we really enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub, and the different games. The breakfast included is not clear how it works, you have to request your ticket from the front desk before eating, they won’t be reminding you that you have a credit. Very strange.
- 5/5
Lovely property
- 5/5
Emma was Outstanding! She went above and beyond to make sure that we were completely satisfied with our stay! We had a blast! Close proximity to the boardwalk. The property is kept clean and staff is very friendly. We were completely satisfied and will definitely return! Thank You again Emma!
- 5/5
Would definitely stay again. Everything was great!
- 5/5
Great location, walking distance from downtown. Front desk, restaurant staff and housekeeping personnel very professional and friendly.
- 3/5
3 stars due to noise issue. We were assigned to a conjoining room, so the wall was paper thin . Meaning we could hear men yapping until 7 am the first 2 nights and a family early AM the 3rd. I asked for a different room on the first night but there were none available. We will be back again but not in a conjoined room.
- 5/5
The room was simple and clean, but honestly the staff were top notch. The man running the front desk when we arrived on 12/14 was quick but very good at dispersing information. He even have me a follow up call to tell me of information her had forgotten to say regarding some morning alarns! And when i decided to get a night cap or two, Kelly the bartender was so calming and fun to talk with even though things were slow he was foused on tasks need to be achieved along with paying attention to the customers. Great job!

Great
- 5/5
I was greeted as I walked inside to check in for my room reservation. During my check in I was offered complimentary wine or beer of my choice! The rooms were nice and comfortable. Later I had a cocktail along with a nice dinner. A+
- 5/5
Building well kept, hotel well kept, heating pool, beautiful redwood by the pool.

Staff was amazing, beds were so comfortable and place was clean.
- 5/5
Good location, comfortable beds, friendly staff, excellent cocktails!
- 5/5
Very fun hotel!
- 5/5
Friendly staff as always. Fortunately, this is going to be our second home for the next four years. Bed is comfortable, has a great bar for drinks ☺️
- 5/5
Note: Self-parking is ridiculously expensive and is just an add-on fee not included in the room price.
- 5/5
This entire hotel is absolutely gorgeous. From the koment you walk in, theres beautiful artwork, its clean, and all around great vibes. Staff was very friendly. Room was clean, modern and beautiful. Very comfortable and even had a cute little outdoor seating area. The pool was open! Big heated pool, huge hot tub, lots of comfortable seating and access to the bar, you can even bring your drinks outside to the pool/hottub area! We lived this hotel so much and will definitely be staying here again.
- 4/5
An excellent hotel in Santa Cruz all around. One small things I didn't like: the mattress was too soft.
- 5/5
We love Hotel Paradox. It’s our go to spot when visiting our grandchildren.
- 5/5
The stay was very comfortable. Staff was very nice.

I loved this hotel. Great experience, clean and everyone was friendly that worked there.

Clean rooms, great stay, nice amenities, courteous staff, restaurant food fresh and tasty!
- 2/5
The reception staff were awesome upon arrival. Room was comfortable until we noticed we had ants on our floor in the morning in our trainers. Spoke to receptionist and was told I’d like to speak to a manager . Took me a few tries to get ahold of “Christian Rivera” who assured me he would sort this out and it’s something they take seriously - never heard from him again, no reply to emails no reply to a further call to the hotel

We didn't know what to expect but we loved it.

I would really would have to give it some serious thought to staying at Hotel Paradox again. When we first checked in our room was pretty dirty. There was a thick layer of dust all over the tables and on the headboards of the beds. It was kind of gross to be honest. We had to ask for the cleaning staff to come to our room a couple times before they finally showed up and really did very little to clean up the dust. Then we found out that the toilet was broken. It was pretty disgusting. They sent a maintenance crew to help fix it and it didn't really do anything. At that point we were pretty fed up and asked to be moved. The staff was happy to get us a new room, which was great, but the room they put us in had a broken outlet near the bed, which isn't great, because I use a CPAP machine. The room's phone doesn't work, because it isn't charged? We've got torn bedsheets, and what is up with those closets? They all look like their built by high school students just trying to make buck. I don't know much about carpentry, but I know enough to say I could do a better job. The one bright spot about this hotel is that the staff is really nice and understanding and have done their best to apologize and accommodate us when needed. The location can't be beat if you love downtown Santa Cruz and just having nice parks to walk to. It's super coinvent, so no complaints there. Overall, I'd really be cautious if you're consider booking here. Think about if the positives outweigh the negatives.
- 5/5
Loved the room and the atmosphere in the lounge great bar service. Definitely worth the stay
- 5/5
This is quickly becoming my favorite hotel. The staff was kind and the room is comfortable.
- 5/5
One of our favorite places to stay in Santa Cruz from the pool to a nice rooms and the first floor fire pits you stayed many times and will continue to do so!
- 4/5
Some of the furniture in the room was stained but the lobby area was great and staff was friendly.
- 5/5
It is a kid/family and dog friendly hotel. There were literally dogs sitting at the table eating from owners plates and kids all over in the hot tub and pool. If this isn’t your vibe don’t say you weren’t warned. That being said, it usually isn’t my vibe but I actually enjoyed all of it and they do a great job maintaining the cleanliness of everything. Every room is pet friendly and they reached out to me personally to let me know this since I requested a room where there were no pets because of allergies. I still opted to stay there and they did an extra deep cleaning for me and I didn’t have any issues with allergies. All in all I would stay again and recommend. It’s a nice place.

- 1/5
One star because the desk staff was actually great.
- 4/5
Clean room. Pleasant staff.
- 5/5
Food was great . Fun contemporary atmosphere
- 5/5
Loved it!
- 5/5
Absolutely outstanding place to stay, very clean and relaxed! Great hospitality
- 5/5
They tried to over charge me by $100 and had no reason why. Watch your bill at this place.
- 5/5
The room was modern, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Check-in was smooth. The air conditioning and all room amenities worked perfectly. The on-site restaurant was convenient and the atmosphere relaxing. Wi-Fi was reliable, though slightly slow. Overall, a great experience — stylish hotel with good service.
- 5/5
Nice spot
- 5/5
The hotel had really good extras such as shuffle board in the lobby. The beds were really comfortable and the rooms were spacious and clean. We will definitely return to this hotel.
- 4/5
Modern updated hotel...rooms clean and with good amenities...pool and spa area are resort like and worth returning for! Nice restaurant and bar area. Just a good place to stay overall.
- 5/5
I absolutely loved this property as it felt like a resort rather than a hotel. The staff was very friendly, the venue was spectacular especially in regards to the pool, bar, and restaurant, and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. I highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely be staying here again the next time I'm in Santa Cruz.
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
it was nice we enjoy our stay, we did not enjoy the pool the restaurant look nice but we did not find any good food plates, overall i will recommended.
- 2/5
This is a relatively nice motel, not a 4 star hotel. The doors are exterior. You will hear every footstep that passes your room, as well as everything that happens in the rooms adjacent to yours. Zero soundproofing, and no carpet anywhere. The shower had such low water pressure it took me 20 minutes to shower. The stone shower floor hurt my feet, and made it impossible to see if the shower was actually clean or not. Very clever of them, actually. Upon check out, when I expressed my dissatisfaction, the woman at the front desk offered to refund my parking, which I thought was kind, but then I saw that I was double charged for parking, so she refunded a charge I should have never been charged in the first place. I paid for parking up front on Hotels.com, and then was charged again at the hotel, even though when I checked in, I confirmed that I had in fact prepaid for parking. Overall, this was a dishonest, disappointing experience.
- 3/5
Room TV not working, was looking forward to seeing some college games after walking around town.
- 1/5
The staff is very unfriendly and unhelpful with the exception of the morning bar/dining staff, the others staff was rude. The room was not what we paid for as we had reservations for a pool view and received a roof view. The prices are ridiculous for what you get. Stains all over the lampshades, black marker all over the floor, and the evening and night staff as well as the front desk staff were not customer friendly in anyway. Will not recommend this hotel nor be staying again.

Totally
- 5/5
common space was stylish + comfortable
- 5/5
This was a very stylish, fun boutique-type property. The aesthetic was very rooted in Santa Cruz’s natural beauty and quirky artistic vibe. I didn’t use the pool but it seemed popular with families and was very pretty and well maintained. Room was super clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only thing I wish I had known when I booked it is that they charge $28 a night to park. That additional charge is significant! After the first night i figured out i could park on the street right next to the hotel and ended up paying a couple bucks instead of $28 per night. But it was a lovely hotel and I would definitely recommend. Just park on the street. Easy to walk to downtown.
- 3/5
There were rooms available for us not be put at the end of hallway (farthest and least convenient)
- 5/5
Staff I loved Outdoor pool I didn't had time to stop by. breakfast was great
- 5/5
The pool area was great, the hotel was cute and clean, and is walkable to downtown.
- 4/5
EV charging not included.80 per kWh Rooms need to updated Try to get rooms 114 through 124 to be close to lobby/pool. Pool is heated, Reno of lobby is well done.
- 5/5
Super loud lots of families amd kids. We don’t mind but something to know ahead of time is nice
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and clean

Staff and pool are excellent!
- 5/5
Friendly, efficient, comfortable and good value. Highly recommended
- 5/5
Beautiful Lobby, comfortable beds, fun pool!
- 5/5
Excellent option in Santa Cruz.
- 3/5
The decor was nice, and the rooms felt new and modern. I liked the wood floors and comfy beds. But the room was falling apart in some places, and there was black mold in the shower ceiling. The room was also very, very small.
- 5/5
Room was great and staff was so lovely!! Will definitely stay here next time!! Super close to everything!
- 5/5
Yes
- 2/5
Did not use the pool
- 5/5
Nice property, though rooms are very small. Bathrooms are tiny.
- 5/5
great poolside services, a real treat
- 5/5
Plenty of dining options in the area. Close to anything you would need during your stay
- 5/5
The staff was 5+ Star! Rooms were spotless and well appointed. Definitely will become a go to!
- 5/5
Super cute hotel, comfortable, good amenities, decent spot to stay in Santa Cruz :)
- 4/5
pool was nice, and a lot of pets there!
- 4/5
That said the staff was above and beyond great and the restaurant was delicious and quick.
- 5/5
Room was great the only thing we had issues with was the A/C which was non existent.
- 5/5
Had nothing to complain about a great experience I would love to go here again

- 5/5
Wish breakfast was included in the booking. We paid $50 (tip included)for avocado on toast and pancake with berries and 2 coffees, at the breakfast bar in the hotel. Not far from everything.
- 3/5
I have been coming to the property about 2-3 times a year. I love the location and the staff is great. Might be the last time tho. I always thought the value was good. Now they are charging for parking. Was there two nights and paid over $60 for parking. They got the extra $60 for this trip but I look for value and this will prob take them out of the running in the future for value.
- 5/5
The pool and bar was excellent
- 4/5
Rooms are very clean. Staff is helpful.
- 5/5
Pool, resort vibe, location
- 5/5
Loved the hotel! Everything was phenomenal! Only comment would be they the bathroom was clearly needing tlc.
- 4/5
I've been coming to this hotel for over 10 years. I still like it, though it doesn't resemble the hotel I loved. Very corporate, you have to order room service via computer - and if you are loading your car to leave, they turn off your key that minute. That has happened to me several times. I still like it but it is busy and loud.
- 3/5
Staff were helpful and friendly but room was average at best. Felt dated and had broken furniture.
- 5/5
Wonderful
- 5/5
They met or exceeded every hope we had. They went above and beyond from allowing an early check in to great service at the pool (and amazing amenities in the room). We would love to return here sometime soon. PS- the bed was one of the MOST comfortable we've ever slept on!
- 3/5
I was looking forward to an enjoyable time with my grand daughter at the pool relaxing on Sunday but had to be stressed with a crowded, loud party scene. I wish I had known about it because I would not have stayed on a Sunday night. Also the internet would not work. I did like the beds and the shower.
- 5/5
We found this place looking for a dog friendly hotel. It surpassed our ecxpectations. The decor was really cool. The rooms were big and comfortable for a family of 4 and pup. The pool was very nice and restaurant on site was a plus.
- 5/5
This is a great property… the pool was fun and there is a table tenndj

- 5/5
Very comfortable room, convenient, beautiful swimming pool, close to downtown and beach.
- 5/5
My stay was very comfortable and excellent customer service from all employees
- 5/5
One of the best hotels in Santa Cruz!
- 3/5
For the amount per night this property should at least have free parking for guests and complimentary breakfast.
- 5/5
Our room had a lamp shade with water stains all over it. Should be replaced. The area around the property was not as secure as I would have liked. We did enjoy the pool area!
- 5/5
Great vibe to this hotel. We will stay there again if we are back in the area. Very clean, great location, convenient and loved the water machines!
- 5/5
But, Didn't enjoy the extra $30 charge for parking at the hotel I'm staying at.
- 4/5
Food average
- 5/5
Very clean and the staff was great! 5 stars for Rainbow the bartender.
- 5/5
We had a great trip with our sons family.
- 3/5
I arrived at check in time 4pm and our room wasn’t ready until 5:17 to be exact, we we given a $50 voucher for food and drinks which was nice but we were exhausted and just wanted to get to our room which we paid around $600 a night for. Outside of the pool area the grounds needed more attention as there was garbage left by disrespectful guests in the elevators which we threw away and on benches/tables etc that was literally there for our 2 day stay, it was if there was no attention to the facility outside the lobby, pool and restaurant area. As for hospitality, the phone in our room didn’t work so I went down to the lobby at 8:30 to request some fresh towels, we waited an hour and a half until I had to get up again and pretty much go get them myself by hunting down a housekeeper, the last thing is we purposely chose a room facing the pool (which was extra) room 518 only to have a giant redwood tree (beautiful) obstructing our view, I feel like we got charged for something we didn’t receive. The food was good and the pool area was very nice but overall for the little over $1300 we paid for 2 nights we feel like we didn’t get the service or quality that should have came with that price, the service and the grounds need more attention and there be no reason a persons room should not be ready upon check in when check out is 4 hours prior to the next guests checking in. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Christine
- 5/5
We loved our stay - the hotel pool and hot tubs were our favorite. The weekend pool party with a DJ was a fun scene. The lobby decor and games had a unique vibe. The restaurant food was good and we enjoyed eating at the pool. Our room was cute and clean, but a little tight for a family of four. Overall we enjoyed our stay and found great, affordable food options very close to the hotel.
- 5/5
First time staying at Hotel Paradox and was not disappointed. Everything was great. Checking-in was painless, the rooms were clean and comfortable for a family of four, and the pool was very welcoming. Highly recommend and would 100% stay again. Can not say enough good things about it.
- 4/5
My teenage daughter and I had a momma/daughter getaway here and it was a great spot with the pool and hot tub and walking distance to downtown for dinner out and back to school shopping.
- 5/5
Amazing staff, hotel, bed, walking area, location, etc.
- 5/5
Our time here was amazing and we absolutely can’t wait to stay again. The hotel has the mid century California vibe with all the modern amenities. Service was outstanding. We had such a good time we cancelled our dinner reservation in town to stay at the pool where we had drinks and food brought to our very comfortable lounge chairs. We would probably go for the lower level rooms by the pool with the sweet patios and amazing scent from the star jasmine for our next trip!
- 4/5
quick check in and great customer service
- 4/5
Hotel Paradox is a gem in Santa Cruz. This hotel will hopefully set the tone for hotel improvement in the area. It is beautifully appointed. Very clean and beachy vibe. The pool area is very nice and is complimented by a nice bar and restaurant. The lobby is welcoming to families and has games for kids to play. The rooms were spacious.
- 2/5
My stay at Hotel Paradox was disappointing at the least. I did not get the room I reserved. I was downgraded to a smaller room which was very small with a the bathroom was not accommodating at all. I checked out early the next day and now I am having trouble being reimbursed for the night that I didn't stay even though the reservation was not held and I was given an inferior room.
- 3/5
Ok
- 5/5
Great, busy, family, happy!
- 5/5
First time staying really like the resort vibe and close to boardwalk can’t wait to come back
- 1/5
Tearable I got a severe rash from the sheets
- 5/5
It is a beautiful hotel, noted both couples as well as families having fun. But what I really appreciated the most was the staff. Every interaction was positive, they all were helpful and friendly. The first thing as soon as I walked to get registered, I noted their smiles. They are Pet friendly too… It was a wonderful experience…
- 3/5
Room very clean. Bed very comfortable. Overall room size comfortable. Room door didn’t shut w/o pressure and opens to outdoors, ie, it’s a motel. Water temp could b hotter for shower.
- 5/5
We had a great stay at Paradox.
- 5/5
They have the BEST staff and made me feel very welcome in Santa Cruz!
- 4/5
The hotel was very nicely designed and the rooms were comfortable
- 5/5
Good for families anddogs
- 5/5
We had a great stay. We visited UCSC and this hotel was conveniently close to everything.
- 4/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Loved it!
- 2/5
We had a very strange and unpleasant experience with the bathroom sink. After running it for about 60 seconds, it started draining slowly—then, a few minutes later, water suddenly backed up through the drain, bubbling loudly before erupting like a mini geyser. It sprayed onto the counter and even hit the ceiling. It was pretty gross and definitely upsetting. I called the front desk to report it, and she offered to send housekeeping. Since I was already packing to check out, I told her to go ahead—not because I needed the sink, but because the mess clearly needed to be addressed before the next guest arrived. When I stopped by the front desk to check out, she did apologize, but it didn’t feel particularly sympathetic. I asked for a toothbrush since my husband’s was drenched by the overflow of water from the sink—and she did give me a toothbrush kit. That was a gesture I wish had been offered. I’m not a high maintenance person but the whole thing left a disappointing final impression. That said, the hotel itself was overall pleasant. I’m hoping this was a one-off issue—it was a busy Saturday, after all—but still, it was a pretty jarring experience that overshadowed the end of our stay.
- 3/5
Seemed like bottom of line rooms saved for hotel.com patrons.
- 5/5
Service was excellent! Pool side food and drinks, games and overall fun hotel vibe made this an excellent stay for our family 😊
- 5/5
This is a beautiful property with a wonderful pool, restaurant and accommodations and it is centrally located.
- 4/5
•Free amenities (bottled/filtered water, morning coffee, afternoon beer) •Spacious parking •Swimming pool •Convenient location (near Trader Joe’s, restaurants) Cons: •Poor soundproofing (can hear noise from the bathroom) •Indoor facility maintenance could be improved
- 5/5
Liked everything
- 5/5
Amazing place!
- 5/5
Phone in room did I not work
- 5/5
Love this hotel!! Love doing weekend getaways from San Jose and staying here. Love there pool and the staff is always super friendly
- 5/5
Service by everyone i interacted with
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Great pool area. Good food and drinks. Family and dog friendly
- 5/5
A wonderful place with delicious food, kind staff, lovely smelling flowers, unique design, clean and comfortable!
- 5/5
Good location for walking
- 4/5
It was awesome
- 5/5
It was pretty good, I love the new simple Amenities they offer such as morning coffee and s’more’s for the kids. I wish they brought back the free little skate boards. I also like the little games they added to the lobby and on the pool side. Definitely love the new vibe they brought to the place.
- 5/5
Smells like jasmine and is very self serviceable which I love. Great staff, quick service, and beautiful decor and ambience.
- 5/5
This was a great trip! Morning coffee was great. My daughter and her friend thoroughly enjoyed the pool. Our room was comfortable and clean. My only heads up is the toilet - it was the loudest flushing toilet I've ever heard! I could hear other toilets flushing too.
- 4/5
Unfortunately Santa Cruz has turned into a dirty unkept city, but it can still be a beautiful place to visit. We really enjoyed the pool scene and the hotel has a fun vibe. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Close walk to downtown SC. Just be weary of the homeless and zombie locals walking around, they seem harmless, but keep your eyes open.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Rooms could have been a bit more clean as far as the floor. Sand on the floor and things swept under the bed.
- 3/5
Just fine. A renovated motel.
- 5/5
I’ll be back! Why? service, cleanliness, friendly staff, good food, nice ambiance, pool, jacuzzi and outside space.
- 5/5
Loved the bar
- 5/5
Great pool area and wonderful staff. The renovation is really nice. The rooms are a little strange, the bed is literally a foot away from a huge window that faces the walkway, so it was very noisy. But, that can’t really be helped, just something people with noise sensitivity might want to consider. Overall great experience.
- 5/5
Fine Dinning ,safe and Relaxing by the pool family Enjoyed 👌
- 5/5
Hotel was very nice
- 5/5
Very friendly staff the check in was so easy we came in early and was able to check in early and enjoyed the scenery everything about the hotel was unique .
- 5/5
Great and friendly staff members.
- 5/5
stay at when visiting Santa Cruz.
- 5/5
Great property. Room was a little small but clean, up to date and the pool was great! We were there on Fathers Day, they had a DJ going at the pool, made for a fun afternoon. Nachos were good from the restaurant. We were traveling with small children and they had a blast with the pool and the games they had poolside. Jenga, cornhole, and ping pong. All in all enjoyed this property.
- 4/5
The inside is better than the outside appeara. We liked the pool area and ambiance. Didn’t like paying $30 for parking and having a nonfunctional bathtub stopper.
- 5/5
so beautiful and so peaceful
- 2/5
The property is gorgeous! However, the bed sheets had old blood stains on them, and the sink and bathtub stoppers were broken. Highlight was the bar and dining options!
- 5/5
Great property , staff and pool
- 5/5
IT WAS VERY CONVENIENT AND NEAR DOWNTOWN SANTA CRUZ, CLEAN HOTEL AND FRIENDLY WORKERS.
- 5/5
The staff were amazing and offered amazing customer service. The rooms
- 4/5
Overall a nice experience. The pool and spa area was nice. The room was very very small. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The lady at the service desk was not very helpful as we were checking in. We had a hard time finding the room. She didn't give as any direction at all. We had a homeless man looking in our car during our stay. Sketchy area with a lot of homeless people around.
- 5/5
This was a great property. We loved the pool and hot tub and the room was big enough for our family. The air in our room stopped working but they were quick to come take a look late at night and provided us with a fan which was perfect. I would definitely stay here again when in Santa Cruz.
- 5/5
Beautiful facility, great service. Good Food, room, clean. Great walkable area.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, very nice design, very pet friendly, highly recommended
- 5/5
Lovely well-maintained and comfortable older hotel with great customer service. Cute decor. Unique and attractive!
- 4/5
Just checked in
- 3/5
Good
- 5/5
Besides the back door not working by room 103 really clean and nice place
- 5/5
Dogs are welcome here! The art displayed is first rate. Decor is calming, cozy, and comfortable. Staff was very kind. Parking was easy. Close to downtown, and we felt very safe with the way the complex was secured! Staying here over and over and over again
- 2/5
Also the rooms were very hot, even with the AC up all the way we were very hot. Also there must’ve been 20 plus children jumping into the pool and hot tub while we attempted to relax outside. Splashing everyone and running around screaming. At one point we were in the hot tub next to a staff member when I kid jumped in and splashed everyone, including getting hot tub water in our cocktails. The staff member just laughed and told the kids sarcastically “thank you”. No asking parents to watch their kids or anything or asking the kids himself to not to that. The two gentlemen working the bar Friday night were incredible though. They truly did make up for the annoyances during our stay. Great conversation with those two.
- 4/5
The room, pool area and restaurant were clean. The staff in all departments were great. The complaints would be: 1: the toilet sounds like it's on an airplane (very loud) and, did not rally take the toilet paper and waste down not 100% in the middle. Anything on the side of the bowl was not flushed down do to lack of water streaming down all sides of the toilet. I see that it's designed economical and may save water but not if you are have to push the waste down to the bottom of the toilet and flush again (and again). 2. The heater would not go above 63 degrees...it gets kind of cold in Santa Cruz at night so, we were very cold every night. 3. While the restaurant food was decent, the claim of one of the best restaurants in Santa Cruz is far from true. I'd rate the food at more of a 3 out of 5 stars.
- 5/5
Great food, fun pool, good customer service
- 4/5
It was our second time visit there. Last time it was very nice. This time one night, there were people outside talking so loud around 11:30. But overall the stay was good.
- 4/5
room service / cleaning was poor! area around the hotel felt a little unsafe. other than that the property is pretty, modern and great and the amenities are great as well. restaurant was delicious.
- 5/5
Perfect for dogs.
- 4/5
Have stayed here many times does not seem as “elegant” as in the past. Rooms are showing their age, hot tub jets were weak or non- existent, the complimentary robes are, other little things. The lobby, restaurant and staff are still fantastic.
- 5/5
Better than the last time we stayed there 5 years ago
- 5/5
It was an excellent experience, the pool was a highlight of the whole family trip. We were able to get lounging chairs without having to pay for it like the most hotels do. The stuff is so accommodating and welcoming. We love it and will definitely continue staying there When we visit Santa Cruz. Location is close to downtown and also walking distance to the beach.
- 4/5
Great pool. Rooms are a bit sparse for the price but we spent all our time in the restaurant and pool anyway.
- 5/5
A really nice hotel, very accommodating, loved the dog friendly part. Paying for parking after paying for your room was not cool though. Shouldn’t have to pay for parking.. other than that it was very enjoyable.
- 5/5
Property was near downtown and easily walkable. The facility had really nice and well thought through updates. Unbeatable value.
- 5/5
The hotel was better than expected! Very cute interior and I like how there was so much parking. The only thing is I wish there was a door near the parking with more security since anyone could basically get in and that’s not safe. But overall, would stay again!
- 3/5
I was not informed on the parking fees and then when i was told about parking the pricing was different from what i had read before checkout.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel and great service
- 5/5
It was a really nice and the pool area was clean and had lots of great seating.
- 5/5
Very cool hotel - ambiance was really neat - very well done. Also, and I didn’t mean to do this, but I walked into the dining area hungry at 8:46 when the kitchen was closing at 9:00 and they still managed to quickly accommodate me, which I really appreciated.
- 5/5
Soooo happy 😊
- 2/5
Million dollar lobby, bargain discount rooms. Two double beds smashed into a tiny cramped room that smelt like an old foot. The bathroom door was a slider that didnt close all the way. They spent their entire budget on the lobby.
- 4/5
Very comfortable and well located
- 5/5
Staff was really great
- 5/5
We loved the pool. It was kid friendly and my daughter played in it for hours!
- 5/5
The property is gorgeous with fantastic amenities such as a bar, pool, restaurant, and hot tub. The staff could not be friendlier -- everyone from the front desk to restaurant staff. The property is a quick walk to downtown SC, which is convenient. The rooms were clean and well-appointed; my only feedback was that they feel a bit small and I wish there was a private balcony. But would definitely stay again!
- 4/5
We love this place, but sometimes too pricey
- 5/5
Unfortunately downtown Santa Cruz itself feels a little sketchy. Wasn’t excited to walk around by myself at night.
- 4/5
Our stay was good, until it was not. I reserved this hotel for the pool and hot tub and unfortunately the hot tub was shut down for the night because there was feces in it. This mom did not end up getting the hot tub time she desired for mothers day.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel
- 5/5
The part of town is busy and had so.e element but i didnt walk around so it was no issue
- 5/5
Stayed here after my wedding. The hotel itself is great, really nice. It has a restaurant I’m not sure if they serve food all day but we had breakfast and it was really good, they also have a bar and the swimming pool is great. The rooms were nice and clean I did enjoy the stone shower floor. A little on the pricy side so don’t extort to be cheap. I’ll give it 5 stars. Also walkable to downtown from here and the board walk.
- 5/5
Great time. Pool and bar were awesome
- 3/5
Dinner, they said it could not be fixed, gave us an extra blanket, had us keep the space heater and comp’d us the dog fee. Should have been the whole night. Room 106 also faces a wall. Do not accept that room. Many condition issues (eg water wavy woodwork in bathroom, step in tub shower with no grab bar). Lobby has cool decor. Great place for kids to play games in lobby and pool with loud cheerful kid noises. Food is mediocre. Keurig in the room and they didn’t even bring more cups or coffee inserts for day two. Coffee for guests was five bucks a cup. Great murals. Right next door to the courthouse.
- 5/5
It was our first time staying in Santa Cruz. Loved the relaxed vibe of the hotel. The lounge/bar area was great for unwinding after a long day. At check in, Ethan was super friendly and welcoming! We arrived a little earlier than expected at he let us check in! Loved that! Will be returning.
- 5/5
The most spectacular pool to enjoy a relaxing day.
- 4/5
Loved the area. Hotel was very nice and staff very friendly.
- 4/5
The rooms could use remodeling. One of the lampshades in our room had water damage, the shower drain was slow, and the fan does not work well in the bathroom, so ventilation isn't great. As others have mentioned, the toilets flush very loudly. Otherwise, the room was comfortable enough for three nights. The hotel is in a convenient location, walkable to downtown, but you have to pass through a sort of sketchy park to get there.

- 5/5
I love everything about this hotel and it's the only place we stay in Santa Cruz. It's home away from home for us with our young adult child at UCSC. The perfect place for parents and their college age kids.
- 5/5
We hosted 11 performers for two shows at 418 Project behind the hotel. Performers were very happy with their rooms and proximity to the venue. The last evening more than 30 of us gathered at the bar. The bar staff were excellent and accommodating. A lot of people to land at one time and the bar tenders were super at all those orders.
- 5/5
Hotel Paradox is the place to stay when coming to Santa Cruz! Such a great location! Such a great property! Walking distance to a lot of the shops and dining! Or driving if you don’t want to walk! This hotel being dog friendly is such a plus! The rooms are spacious and very well designed! The ONLY thing that caught us by slight surprise was the $28 a night for parking. Not a crazy big deal though! Oh! And let’s not forget the heated pool and hot tub!!! Such a big plus after a long day of exploring! Would definitely stay here again in the future!
- 5/5
Lovely decor and staff. Will visit again soon!
- 5/5
The elevator was noisy at night but that’s all everything else was good
- 4/5
For the fees charged, the room cleaning schedule could be improved. We had an issue with billing and it was handled professionally and promptly and was rectified with no issue.
- 4/5
Room was pretty rundown. My shower didn't have a curtain.
- 5/5
Very convenient location. There's a park behind the hotel that has trails and a b ridge that leads to downtown. We love this place for its dog-friendly policy. Will come back again. Thanks
- 5/5
Extraordinary Property to stay!!!
- 2/5
Hotel was okay. Not very clean and service was nice but not quick.
- 5/5
My only complaint is the smoky smell from the vents whenever we would turn on the air conditioning or the bathroom vent.
- 5/5
The Paradox is in a good location to access the main Santa Cruz locations you might be coming for- downtown and wharf/boardwalk- and easy to drive to any other locations. It is not close to the UC but easy to get to. If you like walking, getting to the beach was an easy 7 or so blocks. The property was immaculate and modern. Parking lot is safe and easy, though paying to park is not a plus for me. The pool is lovely, warm, and and well protected. Our room was very clean and the mattress was really comfortable (I like firmer pillows personally so might bring one of my own next time) Had a small issue getting the temp right but figured it out. Everyone was helpful and friendly and I would definitely stay there again- have stayed overnight at various hotels in the area and I like this one the best for one that is not on the beach.
- 5/5
Hotel Paradox was a very nice hotel. All areas of the hotel were clean and kept up. Our room was super clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Have stayed at this hotel twice before and is our go-to place when in Santa Cruz.

I liked how clean the hotel was , how spacious it was , but the decoration was so unique and it is in walking distance from great restaurants

Comfortable beds and squeeky clean room. Parking is convenient. It was quiet. No complaints!

Amazing!!!!! Beautiful rooms, pool and Gym. Enjoyed every bit of our stay.
- 5/5
One down part is parking is not free

The staff were super friendly, the place was clean. The only complaints were that the walls are thin, you can hear your neighbors. Also, the drainage in our shower was terrible.
- 5/5
The pool, hot tube, outdoor furniture, bar ands restaurant. It was very clean for a pet friendly hotel.
- 4/5
Restaurant/bar was convenient.

It’s nice place and the pool areas is great.

Always a nice stay here! Every time we stay in Santa Cruz this is our place!

Everything about Hotel Patadox was excellent! Thanks for a great stay.

This is such a great property and everytime I go to Santa Cruz I like to stay here. The staff, the rooms, the hot tub and the pool make it very attractive to want to stay. The staff was so nice and accommodating to me. Thanks again for a great stay!

The Paradox is a great place, but i left an item in the room and called everday for a week to inquire if it was found. It seemed impossible for anyone from Housekeeping or the front desk to actually get back to me. Left such a bad taste in my mouth.

I liked the hotel its self. However, there were blood stains in the bed sheets and our room smelled like mold and mildew. Like it hadnt been stayed in, in quite a long time. Make sure you remember parking is $28 a night as well. No free breakfast which would be fine if it werent for the bad condition of the rooms. The beds are very hard and lumpy. You have to call and request early check in the same day as your reservation and even then they will not give you straight direct confirmation of am exact time your room will be ready. 4pm check in time is too late. However, the staff and heated pool and hot tub were wonderful.

After getting back from dinner, we discovered the shower drain was completely clogged, causing water to pool after just a couple of minutes of use. To make things worse, the shower handle was faulty, making it difficult to turn off. This made showering during our stay virtually impossible—definitely not the relaxing experience we were hoping for, especially considering the cost of the stay. When we mentioned these issues to the front desk staff at checkout, the response was disappointing. The woman we spoke to didn’t apologize or acknowledge the inconvenience and lacked basic empathy for the situation. For what we paid, we expected a much better experience and customer service.

It was okay

Large hot tub & heated pool open during the winter! 10/10 recommend

Staff was so nice and accommodating! Some of my group had pets and they welcomed them without problem and even provided pet treats. Would highly recommend this hotel!!!

it’s convenient and has nice amenities. very dog friendly! highly recommend.

Kids splashing around the hot tub day and night, through the adult only hours. The towels ran out and weren't refilled for hours. And WOW, parking costs almost $30/night. This isn't located on the beach or a population-dense neighborhood. It's a cheap cash-grab. Positives: Staff was friendly and helpful. The art throughout was really spectacular. It made us want to come back. Filtered water on most floors was awesome.

Some things worth considering... Our rooms were not ready at check-in, and an ADA approved room, which was requested and confirmed days before, was not available upon arrival. This made check in difficult for our matriarch. We also had 3 rooms in 3 different floors, which was ridiculous but at least we got our steps in each time we were visiting each other. Still, we enjoyed our stay and love that pets are welcome. There were always poop bags available, too. TMI, but it's appreciated. We also love the amenities. The pool heater was not working during some of our stay, but it was fixed in the nick of time. We also appreciate the safe space the lobby provided for everyone during the New Years countdown. We had 3 generations of very happy and safe people at Hotel Paradox. Thank you for your work and care.

Very clean and conveniently located, easy parking, smooth checkin and checkout. Pool closes at 10 pm and checkout is at noon which is very nice. Would visit again
- 3/5
Just a little expensive for what you get… and the restaurant is pedestrian at best.
- 5/5
Place was not very clean. I found a lot of popcorn on the floor

The toilet did not fully flush. Also, the sink was clogged the entire time. But our stay was during the days right before Christmas, so we were out and about during the day and preoccupied with visiting family. And when we returned to our hotel room, we just wanted to fall asleep. So, the basic amenities we paid for were not available when we really needed them. I will NEVER stay at this location again.
- 5/5
Loved this stay! It was casual yet clean and had everything we needed for our trip. 10/10 would stay again!
- 3/5
Had to take muscle relaxers to sleep because my mattress was way, way too painfully soft to support my back. Overall, far too much to spend on a basic hotel on Ocean Street when neither parking or breakfast are included.
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Paradox several times and always enjoy it.
- 4/5
Unique experience. Great hot tub. Would come again.
- 5/5
Good location, amenities and nice fitness room, pool and hot tub. Comfortable bed. Clean room.
- 5/5
The hotel is quiet and friendly. And you can find lots of eating space nearby. Ideal for traveling.
- 5/5
Love out stay, will be back again!

We had a small gathering of family and friends to meet our son and his girlfriend after her proposed. The suite was perfect to host everyone and we had a nice dinner in the restaurant afterwards. It was so memorable for the newly engaged couple. The staff was awesome and we will be back!

We booked this late at the last minute and it fit our needs. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The bar and lobby were spacious, although service was a little lean as the bartender had to take food orders, make and serve drinks, serve food and run the register. Menu was sufficient. Food was OK.
- 5/5
This was my first time staying at this place and I loved it I’ll look forward to coming back soon
- 5/5
We come here every year. Great place and great value. Everything about the hotel is amazing.
- 3/5
The hotel is nice but lacks a few things such as robes and slippers. The staff is friendly & location is convenient for accessing downtown area.
- 5/5
Very clean! Adequate parking. Friendly staff. Nice amenities. Will definitely go back.
- 5/5
I found this hotel charming, cool, and clean, and overall, it was just a great experience. My room was spacious and comfortable. The pool area was cool for a rogue 70-degree warmer winter day. The staff was super friendly, and with the low season rates, I'd say it certainly was a bang for my buck. 10/10 would recommend. I'm not sure why there are so many poor reviews; I thought this place fire.
- 1/5
Do not stay here if you value your car! Mine was robbed and i was stranded the hotel did not seem to care.. although they charge you and valet park your car! BEWARE
- 5/5
Everything except the $28 non-garage parking was great. Property is modern and clean. We were treated to complimentary wine during a check in happy hour. Room was exceptional with a large bathroom and big screen TV. Definitely would recommend to friends and consider staying again.
- 5/5
2nd time staying. Pleasant, clean and convenient.
- 4/5
The hotel itself is very nice. It's not in the greatest spot for walking around and enjoying things, but it's not the worst either!
- 4/5
Beautiful common areas, pool, fire pit, restaurant etc. The rooms are a little small and ours was very cold and damp. The backside of the property is a bit dark, but I think it’s still safe. Dogs are welcome but there isn’t a great place to walk for potty time. Staff was amazing with only one exception. A mixed bag, it really depends on what you want from your stay.
- 4/5
I like the lobby, but the beds were small and the room wall was peeling and wall inside the bathroom damaged.and wall paper was coming up.
- 5/5
Great stay!

All of the staff we came across was really friendly. Our room was super clean and it was quiet.
