Courtyard by Marriott Sarasota at University Town Center

The hotel is beautiful, well located, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tampa who wants a great hotel without spending too much money. Excellent value for the price!

Breakfast was very good! No microwaved sausage or eggs. Everything was cooked to order. The wait staff was fantastic! So friendly!!!!

Betty checked us in and she was so lovely to deal with. She was very informative and friendly. Garrett was also there during our check in and he was great too. We ended up needing to extend our checkout and we went to the front desk the night before our checkout date to see if it was possible. The man there seemed like he didn't want to help and said there was nothing he could do because we booked through a third party. The next morning, we went back down to the front desk and they were able to extend our checkout with no issues.

The frig inside the room was too loud, the toilet was wobbly, and the bathroom sink was clogged.

This is a great Marriott property. It’s close to restaurants. Breakfast was great and the lady that worked breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Always love staying at Marriott hotels. Highly recommend this one.

Property is clean and in a great location, made the quick (30 mins with no traffic) drive over to Ana Maria island for the beach. The check in process was a bit of a nightmare due to a disconnect in communication at the front desk. Took an 1 hr and 45 mins to get sorted. Bad experience after a 2 hr drive and kids in the car excited about hitting the beach/pool.

I would not stay at this property again. This is my second time here and has been terrible again. We rebooked our room online and had the day time staff come into our room when we were undressed about a card on file they needed for a whopping $20. I was initially in the shower and they proceeded to come in again. The ac was also set to 74 which had to be changed by the staff so our room was hot. I have never had this happen even at luxury 5 star hotels in Vegas, LA, etc. The night attendant that checked us in upon initial arrival was very nice and welcoming but not the same experience from the day staff. Have NEVER had someone bust in the room not once but twice! Absurd!

The staff were very accommodating, however, my TV didn’t work in the assigned room. I was immediately given another room, but it sounded as though the picture tube was going out on that TV as well. Also, the bathroom counter had crumbs/debris on it- it had not been wiped down. I didn’t complain, but it made me reconsider future stays at a Marriot property.

Love the atmosphere

The first time the room was perfect but this time, the room had a stink to it, not horrible but just enough to be off putting. They offered several other rooms that weren’t any better.!other than that I love this hotel. Very close to restaurants and across the street from the mall and many other shops.

The hotel was excellent. I loved it. The staff is very friendly, especially Alejandro. He is amazing, always taking care of the guests.

We arrived early for our stay and the staff worked to make sure we had a room ready. They knew we where coming from weather delays with baseball a provided us with waters and went out of there way to make sure our trip was successful. I appreciate all of the effort. We will be back!

The Courtyard by Marriott did not disappoint. Room was very comfortable, as well as luxurious! Close to lots of shopping!

Very good location. Facility is wonderful. Restaurant staff and front desk staff were very pleasant. Many good eateries near by. Sarasota is a beautiful clean city. Will be back.

The room and property was good. Very comfortable bed. Location in the center of city with shops and restaurants. Our room was never cleaned throughout our three day stay. Hot water came only sporadically. There was leftover old coffee in our machine. No free breakfast was a bummer considering the price.

I stay here everytime I visit my son, there was construction which was very inconvenient, you had to walk around the building to get to the front desk which was a problem when I had to leave at 4:00 am for Uber. I had to walk through a dark parking lot. I feel a discount should be given on the room rate when construction is being done during your stay, not to mention the noise which was also very disruptive

We had to book this property after our flight home got cancelled so it was totally a random pick based on what airlines told us. The hotel was very clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful to us.

It is close to everything, shopping, dining, freeway and only 13 miles to the beach.

Everyone and everything is beautiful and super welcoming just wish there was breakfast offered.

Property was fine overall but the shower had zero pressure.

The big selling point about this hotel is its location - so close to area shopping and dining. It's also very close to Hwy 75 for easy on and off. But there is too little staff, and those present are curt and not friendly or helpful. The door did not auto-close securely (major safety issue) and the shower stall had a very slippery. TV was not great, the beds were not firm, and the noisy outdoor pool was open after 10 pm located right under our room. Not terrible - but not particularly impressive. The area Hampton is better.

Property was clean and well kept. The indoor dining facility could use some improvement. But you have 2 restaurants within walking distance.

I always take time to acknowlege when someone does a good job. There was apparently some water damage to the hotel, including the gym. I travel a lot and it is difficult to stay fit and sane while on the road, so it's an annoyance when the gym is closed. I told Victoria at the front desk and she called over to the Hampton Inn so I could use their gym, that was a nice gesture and the people at the Hampton were great. I just wanted you to know those small gestures make a huge difference to someone like me who travels a lot.

A good hotel I have stayed at many time but over $300 per night is a price hike beyond . I accept we are in recovery from COVID but prior this was a $200 a night with taxes .

The quiet and comfort in the room.

Wonderful stay….hotel was very clean and staff were superb!

We were there for only one day. One of The concierge personnel was not very friendly. I do not understand why she took over checking us in when the other person was already doing it and then proceeded to be quite curt. The room had fingerprints all over the desk, the wardrobe, fridge …I literally cleaned it before we used anything at all. Thankfully, we traveled here in our own car so I had my wipes etc handy. The bathroom and toilet etc had to be sprayed down. We paid over $400 but it was definitely not worth it and it was price gouging at its finest because of the regatta. Adding insult to injury, the breakfast options were almost non existent and they don’t even have complimentary coffee or tea? Who does that? I was very surprised and disappointed so this will be our first and last time at any of this level Marriott establishments.

Property under renovation staff switched room location with out me asking so as not to have to deal with the noise. Appreciated that very much.

Hope it will be better after construction is done

The room was fine but for nearly $300 it wasn’t worth it. Having to pay nearly $4.00 for a bottle of soda (because they do not offer drink machines) is silly as well has having to order from a Starbucks cafe at breakfast just seemed over the top for this traveler. I didn’t feel appreciated as a guest. More like a tired and trapped tourist.

The pool setting was nice. The staff was clearly overwhelmed. Our first room had the plywood on the door disintegrating like it had gotten wet. The pull out couch mattress was in very poor condition - they are never super comfy - but this was not usable. They did change our room but the front desk seemed at first to be totally lost as to next steps.

Everything was great until we found bugs crawling around in our personal bathroom. There were bugs on the wall and the floor it made us not was to settle in and get comfortable. There was a bad odor inside the room as well. Overall, the staff was super friendly and the facilities and spaces other than our room were clean.

All employees were awesome! We stayed the for 20 days and they treated us like family. Recommend this hotel for people with pets.

Great room, very clean, very quiet and right across the street from UTC mall. We were on the third floor and faced the back of the other building but it made it very quiet

I not like that the rooms had no eating utensils nor spoons for the coffee.

I was very happy with my stay here. Everyone was very friendly. It’s a great location. Lots of places to eat and drink very close. This will be my first choice when visiting Sarasota.

Perfect location with access to highway, many restaurants, shopping and beach not to far away.

Booked this hotel because it was pet friendly. As soon as I booked the room, I got a message saying that guesting checking in must be or over the age of 21, which is even better. Upon arrival, I’m told that there’s no pet rooms available and they might not be able to give me a room...after that has been solved, the room I’m in has an AC unit that could wake the dead every time it kicks on, there’s a low humming you can only hear when you are laying down, and at 6am the room next to us has children screaming and a mom yelling at them, and I thought it was 21 years and older at the hotel. The people working were friendly and could see my frustration, but I won’t be back to this location.

Nice clean hotel close to shopping and the water

The hotel is quiet and well-kept. Not much for food options onsite. The onsite Starbucks has very short hours and we usually miss it. Several dining/drinking/smoothie options within walking distance or a quick drive to the plaza across the street though. The pool and the firepit are nice. We stay here whenever we are in the area.

The location was wonderful with access to multiple food and shopping areas. The hotel was large and updated with clean rooms and pretty comfortable beds. Great room with pull out couch. The pool was a little small for as large as the hotel was, but nice with towels available poolside and tables with umbrellas. Very nice staff, but seemed confused about the “voucher” for hotels.com breakfast for the room and the staff at the food counter wasn’t sure how to redeem it, but made it work for us. Having Starbucks there was nice. Would definitely stay there again.
