We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They had delicious cookies they put out nightly. The location was perfect for going out on the town; centrally located.

The hotel and staff were very good and accommodating. Unfortunately the first night was very disruptive due to outside noise. The hotel is located downtown and the vehicle noise racing around the square with loud engine noise occurred until 4 am. While it’s not the hotels fault I won’t stay downtown Savannah again.

Great proximity to Broughton Street with lots to see and do within walking distance. Hotel is charming and historic. However, beware that the hotel is directly next to a parking garage. I am not sure if we had the misfortune of a night when car enthusiasts with loud exhausts were in town, but starting their vehicles then excessively revving their motors interrupted our sleep from 10pm until it finally stopped around 3:00 am. We woke up exhausted and disappointed.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I love that the area is walkable. The only complaint I have is that I requested a roll away bed, and no one informed me there would be a charge. I didn’t find that out until I was checking out. Yes, I know, I should have asked, but I would think if something is an extra charge they would be upfront about it.

Good a/c and great location. We prefer the charm of historic buildings, and the place has loads of character. Bits of chipped paint and dents in walls can be overlooked. Did not like the shower curtain liner’s mold spots or the paint flecks on the bathroom floors, which indicated a gap in housekeeping/maintenance.

There is no breakfast room in the hotel, but nearby eateries open as early as 6:30 a.m. My room was comfortable, roomy, and cozy. Some may have a fridge but mine did not. For me, that was not an issue. It would have been nice, though, to have a daily carafe of bottled water in the room like many old European inns do. My room looked out onto the nearby parking garage. For me, not an issue since at night the blackout curtains were closed and in the daytime, the light filtering shades were always down. I was unhappy, however, that there were no grab bars in the shower/bathtub. I am not disabled but I am elderly, and stepping in and out of the tub after my shower felt unsafe. In fact, even if I weren't elderly it would still feel unsafe. When I mentioned this to my family, they we're concerned and felt that this may even be a safety violation. I don't know whether the hotel offers "accessible" accommodations that meet safety standards, but in my view every bathroom in that hotel should have at least one grab bar in the shower. I would go back to the Planters Inn again if I were ever to go back to Savannah, but only if they had an "accessible" room available.

Our stay at Planters Inn in Savannah was wonderful overall, mainly because the location truly cannot be beat. Right in the heart of historic Savannah, everything was an easy walk — the squares, River Street, shopping, restaurants, and all the charm the city has to offer. The staff was absolutely fabulous — warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. They really added to the experience and made us feel at home. The hotel itself has that historic Southern character, which we appreciated and expected in Savannah. That said, I do think a bit of a facelift or refreshing in some areas would really elevate the property while still keeping its historic charm intact. One surprise was that the room did not have a refrigerator. Not a complaint, but definitely something that would be a nice addition for guests, especially during warmer months or longer stays. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would still recommend Planters Inn for anyone wanting to experience the beauty, walkability, and charm of Savannah. We stayed at Planter's Inn 10 years ago, and love staying in historic hotels and also loved it at that time.. Sadly nothing has changed, so it is showing age. Carpets need to be changed and a general refresh. It is still a perfect location and love the history. They used to do a continental breakfast and I would recommend they think about it again. There is a good breakfast place nearby though. We had just come from Charleston staying in an historic inn that has been redone and had a lovely breakfast and afternoon wine and charcuterie hour. All amenities were plentiful and top notch, so the comparison was pretty obvious, when we arrived in Savannah. Hopefully they will make those changes soon.

Had we known this—if this important information was included in the property’s description—we would have never reserved a room there. Beautiful Savannah has so many hotels within the same price range, hotels where you won’t risk being assigned to a room in which you awaken to the eyesore of a parking garage and having to leave your room earlier than usual, chasing sunlight.

No breakfast. But, would have ranked higher, except each night at 3am was jarred awake by the sound of cars revving and racing thru the parking deck next to the hotel across from a side street. Apparently, this happens each night. The police are called but unable to stop them. Observed a good number of individual people driving out of the deck at that hour. Employees of the bars in the area? Could police come around that time to deter or ticket those drivers? Security cameras? I know I won't be back or recommend just due to this disturbance. What a shame.

The location of this property is PERFECT. You’re right next to the riverfront and can walk anywhere else in town. If you do not feel like walking, there is a free trolley that runs throughout the city and the stop is just outside the door. The staff was amazing. The room are “historic” so not the most up to date, but the beds are SUPER comfy and the place has a historic charm I love. Also good water pressure and instant hot water is an added plus! There’s also free little wine and cheese happy hr offered daily at 4:30. We loved it and would definitely stay there again!

The customer service was the best part and honestly the only reason this place didn’t get 1 star. Especially the Black guy who worked nights — he went out of his way to make sure we were happy even while I was upset about the room. The carpet was extremely outdated and felt gross to walk on, almost like it was dirty, but really it just felt old and worn down.

I called the front desk after 30 mins of this to inquire if they had called the police yet?!?! I wa stole that there is “nothing we can do about it! Unacceptable as there was no way you could sleep thru this. Finally, only 3 of the plugs worked in the entire room and bathroom. Needless to say we canceled our 3 remaining nights and relocated to the Tempo across the square. Thank goodness we did as it “saved” our experience in Savannah. A 1-2 star hotel at best

Picked this property because of location. Hotel is right across the street from public parking garage. Listened to party goers laughing talking and singing until midnight. Worst bathroom ever - small single vanity and sink and horrible lighting. Elevator and hallways had strong musty odor - walls in room had not been wiped in forever and had smears and streaks on them. Safe in the closet was not even secured to wall or floor! At 3AM on Saturday morning when the bars closed the local “Fast and Furious” gang used the road alongside the hotel and parking lot opposite to see who had the loudest car - zero sleep and little concern from the staff. Generally disappointing stay.

While it is an older building, the room could have been cleaner (for example: base boards were dirty, chipping paint sitting on the windowsills). Front desk staff is very nice and helpful. We loved how grand the hotel was. It was so beautiful. The hospitality was superb. The staff made us feel welcomed, along with the other hotel guests. Having a pianist at happy hour was such a delight. The hotel property and room itself had some wear and tear I was surprised they hadn't attended to. The wallpaper was slashed, the doors were not hotel grade, the room was musty, and there were water stains on the ceiling. The beds were so comfy, though. Overall it was a nice room.

Good area in general. Wonderful staff! My room was right because the parking deck. Loud music, cars, horns locking cars and people talking until 3 am. No sleep at all. Not to mention the lights that light up the room when people start their cars in the parking deck. One of my lamps had a lightbulb that was out. Bed was so hard, squeaky and uncomfortable. Lots of money for a room to lay your head for a fews hours because you won’t sleep. No bar or restaurant inside either. Hampton Inn offers way more and half the price.

The location of the Planters Inn is perfect for those looking to spend a few days exploring Savannah‘s historical district. The staff could not have been nicer and the high-level of Service started the minute we pulled up and we were met by the valet/bellman. The rooms were beautiful and what you would expect in an older inn that has been kept up-to-date. No generic feeling to it as the rooms were well decorated with unique period furniture. The afternoon gatherings in the lobby for wine and cheese were a perfect opportunity to speak to other travelers and get helpful tips on places to go and things to see as well as share your own experiences. We loved it.

Rooms were very clean and well taken care of. The rooms do not come standard with a refrigerator, but a unit can be brought to the room for an added cost. Parking is in the next door garage which is $35/day. The very helpful bellman runs to get your car anytime you need it. The location is great for anyone looking to explore the heart of Savannah and/or River street shopping. The hotel does not offer breakfast so be prepared to walk down the street to local restaurants. WIFI is slow and could be improved.

The valet Rodrick was exceptional. He was friendly and welcoming. Our check in/ out was quick. The location was good in terms of restaurants and walkability, but not so good in terms of vehicle & construction noise and loiterers in the park across the street. The parking garage lights shown very brightly through our shades even when we had them pulled tightly. The bathroom had mold and hair all over, as well as a thick layer of dust and grime on the shades. The bathroom walls were covered in (removable) stains. The carpet was filthy. The bed & sheets were clean. The bed pillows were small squares, which we had never experienced before. Overall the room smelled of mildew. This hotel has not been kept up over the years. We were unpleasantly surprised given the pictures we saw online.

We just love this hotel. It is elegant and so well located. The Olde Pink House next door is a must-visit, if you can get a reservation. Valet parking is included. The Planters Inn is a step back in time, when the lobby was a gathering place, guests mingled and the pace of life was slower. That still prevails today, wine and cheese with piano accompaniment each late afternoon in the lobby. The hotel is showing its age with peeling paint on the window sashes, furniture missing drawer pull, and a deep cleaning of the carpet edges around all the base boards (especially under the bed).

This is such a great little boutique hotel to visit. It is in the heart of downtown Savannah and walking distance to literally everywhere. My only complaint was that it didn’t have a mini fridge for leftovers or beverages. The rooms were clean and very historically accurate based on the hotels history. Parking was super easy. There is a garage across the street that you can self park and pay per day or you can use the valet service which is super affordable and easy. The room got nice and cold at night as well. We stayed in room 609 and I can say we definitely had some strange encounters in the early morning hours. We heard a baby crying in the hall, but there was no one in the hall. We felt something bouncing at the foot of the bed off and on all night long both nights, though we couldn’t figure out what it was. It felt like it would’ve been a small child trying to mess with us. We heard footsteps and just in general felt a lot of paranormal energy. Nothing malicious and nothing evil but just a pure good time. We will definitely be back to visit again. If you want a quiet night, other than unexplained playful noises, stay on the parking garage side. It’s much quieter from the street traffic. Hope you guys enjoy your stay as much as we did.

I read some recent reviews. I was there during the St. Patrick's day festivities. I must say some people clearly did no research before booking. This hotel is in a historic district and is a historic building. The furniture and design are appropriate for the area its in. There weren't a lot of modern accommodations which was fine. First of all the staff at this property is great. However, the hotel is really run down and worn. The lobby is pleasant but the rooms and hallways badly need attention. The wallpaper is coming apart, the carpets are old, and the furniture needs updating. If your room is on the side of the building that faces the parking garage, be aware that people drag race through that garage all night long and it is super loud! I will not likely return to this hotel.

We couldn’t have asked for a better location, a block away from the busy downtown area with plenty of food and shopping, and a short walk down to the Riverwalk, but I must caution. The steps are really, really steep… there is a great breakfast restaurant behind at the hotel, and the square across the street from us had a sax player busking in the morning. But for us a great thing was one of the Old Town Trolley stops was a block away, so we were able to purchase tickets right from the concierge at a hotel across the street from the #11 stop. Honestly, it was a great stay there, and I look forward to returning in the future.

The property has become run down. There is very poorly and hastily done repair work in the rooms. The bathroom ceiling was a mess of water damage and amateur plaster repair. The front door to the room closed with a wide gap at the top, letting in light and noise. There was chipped and peeling paint in the room. Everything was worn and fixturing and carpentry were dingey and stained. It may have been clean, but these things make it feel dirty. The inclusion of only Basic cable was bewildering. Staff was excellent. Check-in was easy.

Overall, the staff and location were great. The property is a little dated, with carpets that still have an odor. And you can smell Febreze used to mask this. The bed was also very uncomfortable and alarms were going off at 6 o’clock in the morning that we did not set. Otherwise great walkability to The downtown historic area so can’t complain there. Not sure I would stay here again, however.

None of this disclosed at check in, no literature in room to explain to guest, “they should have told you” but they didn’t, until I checked out and voiced my concerns. I was shocked at $70 valet parking charge…my car was parked in city parking structure right across the street…i could see it from my bed. Staff at desk nodded as he typed, but expressed no concern to my comments other than he would tell “them”; to date I have heard nothing from the hotel other than to receive notice that my card (what you see is what you pay, no hidden fees or charges) had been charged for the valet parking. I don’t mind paying for valet parking, but $70 to park the car upon arrival and bring to front door as I left. I booked due to description as “boutique” hotel, and since I was having some personal issues, thought I might feel pampered…I would have done as well at Motel 6. Am looking forward to seeing this posted in the reviews…I cannot be the only guest who had such a poor experience, not to mention lack of communication from the property

This is a really nice, period style hotel with good service. Our stay however was spoiled. We had booked a room with two beds several months back but when we arrived they told us they had no room with two beds, but had put us in two separate rooms. Whilst these were adjacent they weren’t interconnected. My wife suffers back problems, the beds were so high we had to request a step stool for her to get in and out of bed. This is not what we reserved, and whilst I understand they did there best it was a very uncomfortable night.

The hotel was in the perfect location to walk pretty much anywhere you’d want to go downtown. All of the staff were amazing and so very helpful for local recommendations. The hotel is older, no frills, and very quaint. The only thing odd I noticed was the smell that our room had - like somewhat moldy when the air/heat was on, but that could just be from it being an old building. However, it wasn’t so bad that I’d never stay there again. Bed was comfy, room was clean & staff amazing. The convenience of its location far outweighs the smell of an older building.

Parking is very high. Can’t work out a deal with garage or yourself? Could you provide wine glasses in room when you provide a bottle? That would be nice. Need to edge vacuum your carpet. Pretty dirty. Also the blankets on bed were not far enough up and would not go over shoulders.

This is nice, historic hotel with a beautiful lobby. The location was perfect for us - we liked being on one of the squares and had easy access to shopping areas, historic sites and the River street area. We also enjoyed being close to the Lucas Theater and enjoying a show there. Leopold's ice cream is also very close. Two or three of the front desk staff were not interested in the quality of our stay, nor were friendly. On checkout, they didn't even ask how our stay was and earlier when we asked questions we received curt answers. The bed was awful - we rolled to the center and it creaked loudly with every move. That said, the linens on the bed were very good quality and the towels were fluffy and in good shape. Be aware you are in a city, so early morning wake up may be to the sound of the garbage truck or a delivery truck unloading items down a metal ramp. We stayed for 4 nights and the evening wine/cheese was nice but had no variety day-to-day. The wine server was clearly bored and was even talking on her phone with speaker one evening when we sat in the lobby. The live pianist was a nice touch, but I think they would be better off to remove the piano and play recorded music - one pianist had long pauses with every music page turn which we found humorous.

I had read prior reviews so I feel I knew what to expect. Obviously the location cannot be beat, in the heart of the historic district. There are 2 parking garages literally on opposite sides of the hotel which is super convenient (don't use the Congress street one, the Bryan Street one is much cheaper and literally just on the other side). They also have valet for a cost if that is what you prefer. There definitely is a disconnect with Expedia and the hotel. I had booked a 2 twin room and got a standard one queen room (I received updated booking notices from the hotel so I saw I was getting a queen bed) but be careful if you do need 2 beds you may want to look elsewhere or call and confirm they can accommodate. The room was small, older, and had old carpet which I think adds to the musty smell. The bed was comfortable though and there was an in room coffee maker and 2 chairs (no desk). They had a cute free evening wine and cheese reception from 4:30 to 6:00 (weekdays only) with a lady playing the piano. They had hot coffee in the morning and water available all day in the lobby. Yes there was noise outside but all historic district hotels experience this unfortunately (I visit Savannah often). I didn't hear any of my hotel neighbors unless they were in the hallway. This hotel probably wouldn't be my top choice in the area but if you want to be super close to key restaurants, and appreciate a little old Savannah charm this is a solid option.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Planters Inn! The location, staff cleanliness of the hotel was wonderful. Only drawback is that the WiFi was poor. If you are a business traveler you may want to keep that in mind. Would also have appreciated a channel guide for the TV as the one on the dish network page was inconsistent at best.

Hands down my favorite place to stay in Savannah! The property is immaculate and the staff is friendly as well as welcoming. The rooms are elegant and comfortable. I’ve stayed there at least 6 times and will continue to in the future. Carl is the best valet and super knowledgeable about the area if you have any questions.

It was very convenient but a little wear and tear on the carpet, etc. I thought it had free parking since parking was listed as an amenity, but it wasn’t free- paid for the valet. Parking wasn’t free without the valet, it was at a great location.

The Bryant parking garage across the street had a max day price of $20 (The SAV parking pass is available in the office but does not include parking garages which was disappointing and parking in the street can be difficult) . Have stayed in several places over the years but the Planters is my new tavorite!

Very good locations with valet parking for $35 per day which is good value. Always staff in the lobby and good service with free cookies. The rooms are spacious and have lots of charm with beautiful southern curtains and valances. Room do not have the standard small fridges though which was an issue. But I'll go back to stay.

I had an excellent stay here years ago but things are drastically different. The halls on the 6th floor had a very strong odor of chemicals. The room smelled damp and musty. There was black mold around the hvac vent in the restroom, thick black mold under the toilet rim, the wallpaper was peeling in the restroom. There was obviously a moisture problem. The thermostat did not have temps or lines so it couldn’t be adjusted accurately. We had to guess at what we were setting the temperature at. We guessed wrong and froze all night. The pillows were comfortable and pillow cases were fresh but the sheets, blanket, and bedspread were worn out and very dingy. There were not enough plug ins for two people’s phones. My side of the bed had none. One wall outlet was so worn out, my charger literally fell out as soon as I plugged it in. My devices went uncharged, causing me issues the next day. There was no valet available when I arrived. The elevator was broke in the car garage, so I had to walk up and down 6 flights of stairs. I am not young. It was not easy. There also was not a ramp at the front door. So in order to use the luggage cart I had to lift and carry 5 bags inside and load them onto the cart, leaving bags unattended as I ran bags inside and then back out to get more. Nothing about this hotel visit was easy or comfortable. I can’t wait to get to my next destination and pray for a better experience. Completely unacceptable.

Desk clerks were very helpful. The Inn is located in a great location to the River walk and a trolley stop. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Parking is $30 across the street. Valet is around $35. Valet is best choice because the elevator is not working in the parking garage. You have to ask for ice at the front desk and you have to ask for maid service .

Planter's Inn in a wonderful, older grande dame of a hotel. It is in need of some minor upgrades like painting, but it is overall is gorgeously decorated. The staff for us was marvelous. They even have a bellhop who will meet you at the door and take luggage to your room. There also is a guick valet service. The location, directly across from one of Savannah's beautiful squares, is convenient to everything. It is easily walkable to City Market and River Street. We will stay there again.

Location was amazing and the hotel had a charming atmosphere but it lacked warmth. Front desk staff and valet were both very friendly and helpful. Cons were parking costs and amenities. Parking lots are small and you have to park on the third floor or higher. Additionally you are charged for each time you leave. It’s a very walkable location so plan on walking or paying 50+ a day in parking. No pool or breakfast but the beach is a 20 minute drive and there are several great breakfast spots nearby.
