Reviews
The Columbus Motor Inn offers affordable accommodations with clean rooms and friendly staff. However, the location is often described as sketchy or unsafe due to the presence of prostitution and homelessness in the surrounding area.

Needs updated rooms, office hours for in the morning didn't open till 9 am. Some light fictures were broken for turning on and off, outlets for plugging in phone was not close to bed, ones that were, were already being used for lights.

Everything not clean

I liked the layout of the room. the customer service at checkin/checkout was friendly and professional. It was wonderful to be able to check in after the usual time. My only complaint: There was some black mold in the bathroom.
- 5/5
location
- 1.5/5
The rep was not at window and he was acting strangely. The room had cleaning supplies in it. The ref was smelly and moldy. No toilet paper on the roll. It was on the window sill. No one told us the hotel was but the prostitute work at. We have small children not something they should see.
- 4/5
Parking was very easy and woukd stay here again.
- 1.5/5
Just the beds The whole bathroom was dirty,so I had figured it out. On the other hand the price of the property was high for this.
- 2.5/5
We needed a lower floor room because my mother couldn't walk up the stairs. And he was able to move us into one. The cameras on the property made me feel a little more at ease considering the area we were in. The location was not ideal for my 11yr child and my mother. There were lots of "working girls" (for a better term) around the and right outside the gates doing their business. The restroom window didnt lock, and the light in the room kept on flickering. I just felt that the price wasnt worth the few hours we stayed and the environment.
- 3/5
Douche on the back of toilet. Don't know if it was used.
- 0.5/5
Nothing. It was sketchy. I left after a couple hours I was uncomfortable Location, cleanliness, didn’t feel safe, stunk all throughout the room.
- 4.5/5
as expected deadbolt was hard to secure.
- 2.5/5
a little dirty, used condom wrapper under bed, unsafe location.
- 2/5
The front desk guy was extremely nice and informative Our room was not clean there were dried up orange peels on the floor even a couple on the bed food left in the mini fridge and dried urine on the bathroom floor.
- 3/5
Not very clean, found drugs in night stand
- 2.5/5
We had easy access to the street level room. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Parking was free and the WIFI was also good. The room had too much furniture (three chairs and an extra cupboard in the kitchen). It was too crowded and we could not properly hang up our clothing. There were no coffee machine and no hair dryer.
- 4.5/5
Very big clean room for one person, with friendly nice staff. Quiet. With a big fluffy bed. Can't think of anything.
- 2/5
The room was dirty

- 3.5/5
Good price and friendly staff. Room description matched what we saw and we felt secure in our room. Parking lot and rooms are well lit during nighttime. Room could have been cleaner, more pillows for bed. No housekeeping included. The surrounding area did feel a bit sketchy, could hear traffic and sirens outside
- 5/5
Super relaxing with peace and quiet so close to everything including 24 hour full grocery shopping nearby and many other food experiences Great staff and rooms
- 5/5
everything is good!!!! especially staff is sooooo kindness. thank you everything😍
- 1/5
Staff was extremely rude for night shift
- 5/5
What it lacks in luxury it makes up for with love. Thanks Columbus!
- 5/5
Terrific stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms, convenient to bus line.
- 5/5
The management is really conscientious about keeping it clean and quiet. I’ve stayed several times this year and always consistent.
- 4/5
easy parking and AC available
- 3/5
ok for a cheapskate
- 2/5
crawlers come out. The walls are paper thin, the loud noises outside never end till the sun comes up. If it's rest you seek, this is not the place to get it.
- 3/5
Shops nearby
- 3/5
The room was clean. One sheet had a small tear. Things appear either worn or newly updated. It was much quieter than anticipated and on a Saturday night. I was surprised about the $100 refundable deposit. Overall, a good place to rest.
- 4/5
Management and ownership are doing a good job of keeping this property clean and safe.

Lots of hair in the bathroom. The prostitutes all around
- 5/5
Nice 👍🙂
- 4/5
I will stay again when i am in the area.
- 3/5
Family run motel. The family was very nice. Definitely an older building. They have done some remodeling inside the rooms without changing the layout. Very old buildings, bathrooms and stairs. On a very busy road that is loud all night long.
- 3/5
The property is clean and looks presentable. My room wasn't quite ready when I showed up at 4pm. The man behind the check in desk was kind enough to run and check on my room as well. It only took about 5 more minutes before I was able to get to my room.
- 1/5
I liked how close it was to everything I needed
- 1/5
was super loud between the car parked right in front of our door and the people above us dropping stuff at 3:30 in the morning, hardly got sleep. when we checked in they gave us the key and had to walk us out to see if the room was clean and we waited outside for them to find a clean room. beds were horrible and uncomfortable. bathroom was moldy
- 5/5
Visiting Family, Seattle needs more Hotels
- 5/5
Nice place for a cheap stay.
- 5/5
I was worried about the location, but the room was clean, comfortable, and sufficient for my needs, and the staff was kind and respectful. It was a good place for me
- 4/5
Cheap hotel locks are updated with scan technology. Wouldn't recommend staying alone or late atnite sketchy area carpet a bit dirty big room with mini fridge!
- 5/5
Rooms are spacious and clean!
- 2/5
Very noisy at night. I
- 3/5
The property was generally clean and it was fine for our purposes, but the area is shady. All the corners surrounding the property are filled with prostitutes.
- 3/5
It was ok for the most part my only concern was that I couldn’t close my front window which led to me waking up in and out of sleep due to traffic late at night
- 1/5
Hookers walking the streets right outside, dirty room and bathroom, loud suspicious characters outside all night, lacking locks on door (barricaded with chair), would not recommend to any families
- 4/5
Alright.place. no close restaurants
- 5/5
I stayed for the weekend to meet for the first time the love of my life. The owner went above and beyond for my partners emotional support K-9. Our room was clean everything functioned properly. Coffee served in the office. My stay was excellent and i would do it again.
- 3/5
Went outside to check for coffee shop and was solicited by a man! Stayed inside rest of visit
- 5/5
Love the location! Close to food and drinks! Most everything is walkable!
- 5/5
The staff is very helpful and friendly. I like that the parking lot has cameras and the front desk has a screen to monitor them. One late morning my husband checked to see if there was coffee in the lobby but there wasn’t. He turned around to leave and the front desk person told him to wait, and he made him coffee. They care about service and it shows. The room was great and larger than most.
- 3/5
There was no soap or shampoo or cups for water - it was just a room with no amenities
- 5/5
Good service. I like the front desk.
- 5/5
We will be returning on our next visit.
- 5/5
Good for a nights stay while travelling.
- 3/5
The front desk man was nice and friendly. The room had no remote to tv he fixed it right away. The ice machine broke told other man working he looked at it shrugged his shoulders and walked away. There was a refrigerator in the room that got my beverage cold. The motel is old and needs upgrading. Pillows old, linen clean but worn. The light kept flickering on and off. Bathroom shower had hair and mold. No ice bucket no soap or toiletries. Prostitutes using rooms. Nope never again left early 0530. Just uncomfortable situation.
- 5/5
Staff and customer service were fantastic.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff.
- 4/5
Convenient to public transportation, but often loud vehicles racing by.
- 5/5
What I didn’t like was the lightning out side room … Kind of confuse me if it was daylight or nighttime
- 5/5
Very hospitable staff
- 5/5
Remarkable customer service plus clean and cozy rooms!
- 3/5
The “nightlife” industry was off putting!
- 4/5
The area around the property did not feel safe, but the property was very safe
- 5/5
I recommend this hotel to anyone! I was on a budget so I was expecting much from this place but the service here was amazing! We only stayed a night but after check out they gave us a granola bar for the road haha like I said I wasn’t expecting a whole lot for the location and price but the people here work hard and love their customers would come back:)
- 5/5
Had a super late check in, motel staff was quick and efficient when checking me in, very good customer service.
- 4/5
The staff was very courteous and helpful. Happy to see there were cameras covering the building exteriors and parking lot monitored by the front desk clerk. The price was reasonable and the room was well maintained and the mattress was very comfortable. The only issue and it is important, was the poor quality internet signal. We had to switch to data. Not a make or break issue. We will stay there again.
- 5/5
Daniel and the staff are awesome!!!! We come here when we are in Seattle because the staff is awesome !!
- 5/5
This was a very nice retro motel. People fantastic, clean, cheery.
- 4/5
Columbus Motor Inn was exactly what I was looking for. While other hotel rooms in the area cost $200-$300, I stayed at CMI for less than $100. Prostitutes worked the sidewalks a block away, but the parking area was very well lit. The room itself was old and tired but comfortable. Everything worked and I never felt unsafe. The guy at the front desk gave me accurate and helpful advice about local transportation. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Rooms were very clean and staff was extremely nice
- 5/5
Constent security (felt safe) Got the 100 $ deposit right back Recommend
- 5/5
Best place to stay in Seattle on a budget.
- 4/5
Rooms were clean and large. Very comfortable and good bargain. The night staff and manager were awesome.
- 4/5
The room is spacious and clean
- 5/5
Staff was really nice and fit every need, a little noisy, from traffic near by but other than that it was nice. Thankyou to the guy at the front desk!!
- 5/5
no hair dryer in the room, but i asked at the desk and he had one to give me, so all is well! heating unit pumped out plenty of heat for the room. other units were very quiet at night despite being new years eve!
- 5/5
everything was ok considering its price. The heater was warm and good without any discomfort. The staff were also friendly.
- 4/5
Cool staff , super quiet, good size rooms
- 4/5
Staff was so nice, the rest was an average stay
- 4/5
Good enough for the price. It was super cheap. It appeared clean but my feet got gritty walking on the floors.
- 5/5
No riff raff… safe and quiet
- 5/5
Good and friendly staff
- 4/5
My only complaint is the bathroom toilet. I thought I was using the toilet in an elementary school. 3 out of 5 us us who were traveling together have had either back of knee surgery and that low toilet made things very difficult.
- 1/5
There is nothing good about this property, it is old with dirty floor, bathroom, beddings and overall filthy. I took this facility because there was nothing else available in the area. Even the the door lock was sloppy with the key system. It is a place for one night stand for hookers
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
Service
- 5/5
Not everyone can afford paying first class prices, but we all deserve first class service. That's what you get at The Columbus Inn on Aurora. The only hotel for any and all of my future lodging needs.
- 1/5
Fair warning - I would guess that the positive reviews this place gets are probably from local thieves looking to draw in their marks. The man working at the front desk was nice and also reasonable, and after I first told him we were not going to stay the night he reassured me that he walks the property with his dog every couple hours. Not much solace in that if you've seen what I saw though. Building is not too run down but the doors don't seem super secure. The room was not very clean, food crumbs and bottle caps on the floor. Bed was made and sheets clean, but in inspecting the bed found a jagged piece of coat hanger stashed within the made bedding - clearly put there after the room was 'cleaned' - someone was in the room before us, why.. I have no idea. Neighbourhood is known for prostitution (I have no problem with this profession but don't need to be surrounded by it while on vacation) and full on human trafficking apparently. We stayed in our room only as long as it took to find somewhere better to stay and left in less than an hour. If you're not from Seattle and don't know the area - probably don't stay here.
- 4/5
The staff was fantastic, let us have an early check in. It wasn't the nicest part of town but I never once felt unsafe, it was old but clean and it was a place to lay my head and relax. Bed was surprisingly comfy, and they also gave me extra pillows for my stay. Free parking and the bus stop to get downtown was a 5-10 minute walk. Great food within 10-15 minutes driving as well. Would stay again
- 5/5
Room recently renovated. Bath room clean, room spacious, no bad odor. Bedding clean
- 4/5

- 4/5
The unit we had was clean, the TV worked, and a microwave along with a refrigerator in it. Beds were great. Location wise, it’s ok
- 1/5
I can’t believe I found this place in Airbnb. Totally disgusting, prostitution in driveway, broken everything , plumbing didn’t work, terrible small towels, place smelled horrible like bug spray.
- 2/5
I knew that I hadn’t booked a high end motel, but based on recent reviews I was expecting better. While the room was clean, there was an odd smell which I’m guessing was coming from the black mould around the bathroom window. There are some less than desirable characters walking the streets but we were happy to see a ton of lighting in the parking lot when we returned from the concert. Next time we will just bite the bullet and stay closer to downtown.
- 4/5
Contrary to some of the older reviews, our room on the second floor was large, updated, clean, and altogether satisfactory. I believe this property has been recently remodeling and improving their facility. A satisfactory experience at a satisfactory price.
- 4/5
The room and linens were clean and comfortable, the staff were very kind and friendly, and the location was great for using public transit!
- 4/5
I enjoyed my one stay and had no problem or issues. Clean and comfortable room. Don't mind staying another night.
- 3/5
Everything good
- 2/5
The room was clean but we were given a room that the heater/airconditioner didn't work at all. Other than that it was a decent place to stay but for $108.00 it wasn't worth it considering there was no working heater/airconditioner. The bed and bathroom was clean and respectable. My fiancee and I didn't sleep very well because of no heat in the room. We had to use the blankets from both beds to stay warm. For the price we paid there was a microwave, refrigerator, tv in the room but no coffee pot/coffee which I feel that if I am going to pay $108.00 for a room it should have heat/aircondioning and either a continental breakfast or coffee pot and coffee in the room.
- 1/5
This place is disgusting. Check in area smells like cat urine, rooms are covered in dirt and grime, smell like ash trays and there are prostitutes across the street hanging on the corner.
- 4/5
It was clean and comfortable. It was quiet and the staff was willing to help with direction and recommendations for dining.
- 1/5
Linens are disgusting it looks like it wasn’t washed, the bed cover has a lot of cigarettes burn take note the room is non smoking but it smells a lot. It’s a sad motel. Don’t stay here I don’t recommend it. The staff is nowhere to be found.
- 3/5
Cheap
- 3/5
The lady running the place is super nice. The rooms are ok but dated. The neighborhood is full of hookers and messed up people at night but they just seem to walk past the place. I won’t stay there again simply because of the area
- 5/5
I like being quiet, but I don’t like furniture , it’s old and dirty .
- 5/5
I liked the size of the bed and the motel is really close to downtown which is awesome
- 2/5
It was one of those hotels that you don't sleep under the blankets in, and be thankful for having brought your own pillow. While there wasn't mold in the tub, there was hair from past "residents" on the shower walls and ceiling - not taking a shower here - none of the outlets functioned as they should, and there was prostitution happening on the sidewalk of the parking lot. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY as advertised.
- 5/5
Nice good and clean. The landlords are also really kind. If you are in need of sonething just ask them :)
- 5/5
Everyone was super friendly :)
- 3/5
It’s a good place to stay if you have a low budget. Get what you pay for.
- 5/5
We stayed for one night and the place was sufficient for our needs. This motel is by no means a fancy one, but for the price that we paid, it had all the necessities that one needs. Mom and I used to travel a lot so we have seen good and bad motels/hotels and I think our stay here went pretty smooth. Shampoo and conditioner are provided but if you bring extra soap with you, that wouldn't be a bad move either. Thank you Rick for your kindness- it was much appreciated after a long stressful trip!
- 2/5
Based on the other reviews, I was expecting it to be old and smelly. It was even sketchier than expected. The doors and windows didn't even have frames, there were obvious stains on the bedding and hookers standing on the corner across the street. Lol. No that I saw though.
- 2/5
As a single woman traveling alone I felt very unsafe - Manager insisted on walking me to my room as there were many male non-guests loitering on the property; inside my room there was no safety bar on the door, just a flimsy dead bolt to show it was occupied and a twist door nob lock. It was noisy until very late at night (3-4am) even with my earplugs and the fan running on high I was woken repeatedly to sounds just outside my room. Cleanliness was iffy, the bedding and towels were fine but the microwave was filthy and the refrigerator was questionable. There was a large plastic cap to something sitting on the carpet so I’m not sure they vacuumed. The staff at least was nice. I stayed one of my two booked nights, hardly slept, and checked out the next day despite no refund.
- 3/5
Bedding had burn holes and just holes. Carpet was dirty, light switches doors, handles. Used towels where handing in the bathroom. Front desk had a dead bonsai tree and a really bad smell. Don’t look up! The ceiling looked like it was from a CSI episode.
- 3/5
Bedding and towels were clean, but otherwise the room was fairly dirty. No worries with any bugs though - never saw anything that way. Staff was nice and freely assisted with extra towels and pillows at our request. It's what you'd expect with a dated motor inn but the room cleaning needs to be a little better.
- 5/5
Real easy to get to our destination and everything you need around the area.
- 3/5
The room is showing its age and without maintenance. Stains on the wall and roof. The curtains has burn marks on it. Carpet hasnt been refreshed in a long time causing smells. Homeless encampment next door. Cheapest around but not again.
- 5/5
It is a good choice at its class. Toilet and bathroom are clean. All towels are ready to use. Staffs at front desk are helpful and free Wi-Fi is available. The motel is located 3 minutes walking distance to E-line bus stop Aurora Ave/95 St either North bound/South bound. There are Thai good, Peruvian good, famous burger master, I-Hop are around the corner. Overall, it is a great suit for an adult traveler.
- 4/5
Clean. Noisy.
- 1/5
Terrible experience. My flight got delayed so I got in after 8:00 pm and was not able to check in. I never thought to even read the fine print to see what time I needed to check in by, every other hotel I've ever stayed at has somebody at the desk 24/7. The fine print also states that they do not give refunds for no shows. I'm very upset, $90 down the drain and needed to find somewhere else to stay.
- 2/5
This place was pretty awful. The room was dirty. The blankets and sheets had cigarette burns in them. The smoke detector was broken and hanging from the ceiling. The bathroom ceiling sagged and had a huge crack in it. Random screws and nails stuck out from the walls. At least the front desk guy was polite. I am NEVER going back there.
- 5/5
I liked everything about here I will definitely come back here and stay, also the from lady customer service was very nice and kind
- 4/5
Stayed for a weekend. The staff was friendly and accommodating! Room was clean, but outdated. Quiet stay, room fairly large.
- 3/5
This hotel is more of a cheap version of a motel six. Dated interior/older model tv/no breakfast. Think 1990"s style. Bed was comfortable and not much road noise. Surrounding area I wound not wander around at night.
- 5/5
Great staff at front desk!
- 5/5
I left my room a little late, but they were cool. Didnt charge me anything. BUT U SHOULD KNOW, you might have to throw away your own trash
- 3/5
Get what you pay for. Didn't go outside after the sun went down. Interesting character at check in....
- 1/5
Was not able to check in. No one present, no customer service. No one picked up the phone. Felt scammed and cheated.
- 1/5
Still was charged for the night.
- 3/5
The management was rather nosy about you coming and going and I felt like I was being monitored. After the third day I asked for towels and to have housekeeping make up the bed with fresh linens. I was informed that due to yhr pandemic there was no housekeeping and I was given sheets and pillow cases to make the bed myself, exchanged dirty towels in a garbage bag which I had extra in my car and informed that when I checked out, I was to remove garbage. I purchased more garbage bags since I remove my trash daily and purchased new towels and washcloths which I put in a laundry bag to take to a laundromat the day after checking out to be used elsewhere as travel towels or home.
- 2/5
Likes are that it is not terribly far from downtown Seattle and the price is dirt cheap. Major dislike is that is next to impossible to get housekeeping.
- 3/5
Hotel IS a one star on a scale of ten. Rooms REALLY NEEDS some sprucing up. I was unable to get wifi on the free internet., I went to the front desk and the man wasn't able to help me. NEVER again !!!
- 5/5
Great 2 day stay, even though it rained both days. Staff was friendly & helpful. Room was comfortable and quiet. Will stay there again!
- 5/5
Cheap Friendly and Straight up Rooms are just good enough for me!
- 5/5
Not a bad room for a last minute stay. Room was good sized. Microwave and refrigerator in the room. No coffee maker, but, coffee is available in the office. TV was hit & miss with the channels, but, still acceptable. Overall, not a luxury suite, but, a decent night's stay for an affordable price.
- 2/5
Very nice and welcoming staff! The front desk lady was incredibly nice! Room was very dirty, the last resident left stuff there including toothbrushes and other personal items that weren’t taken out of the room, it also smelled like cigarette smoke and the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag which was taped to the ceiling. The best also wasn’t level, and would fall over if you were on just one side. Over all ok experience, loved the staff, but the room wasn’t so great, but you get what you pay for. Lol.
- 1/5
Very uncomfortable, toilet bowl was blocked, looks was not nice ...
- 2/5
It was dirty and when we tried to get clean sheets the dude got angry.
- 4/5
Older motel. Room quite large.
- 2/5
Some of the guests were allowed to behave extremely noisy all night shouting the doors and yelling and screaming; front desk staff very polite and nice.
- 4/5
It worked fine for me. I was on a business trip and just needed a place to sleep for a few nights. It is not a fancy place, but has everything I need. It was comfortable enough for me. There are a number of good places to eat nearby and public transportation is close by.
- 4/5
The woman at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. There was a fridge and freezer in the room. The only issue I had was one of my neighbors played their TV so loud it woke me up several times during the night.
- 4/5
Older rooms but very clean. Manager is lovely. Very large rooms and always like priced.
- 1/5
Old man for front desk was cool and nice but the room stuff it’s too dirty and old also smell was really bad if you could not find any place to live actually not bad
- 1/5
I didn't expect much at this price but this was the worst I've ever stayed in. Go elsewhere.
- 3/5
Strange place, would only recommend if you have no where to go
