    The staff and service was excellent. I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the facility - it is older and probably needs a remodel but it was still clean and pretty well kept. I liked being close to shopping and restaurants, however not a great path to walk to them - no sidewalks, etc.

    The bed was very very very comfortable, slept like a log. Comfortable ac temperature. House keeping was great. Front desk attendant when I arrived was gracious. Restaurant attendant very helpful with info of store near by.oh yeah shower pressure great! NO microwave in the room, how can I worm up my food? That’s a deal breaker. Got to have a microwave in the room. No vent in the bathroom? Wow. No soap in the dispenser. I brought my own just in case. With those exceptions the room was good.

    Hot tub only got up to 90 degrees. Bathroom faucet was too short for the sink, so every time I put my hands under it, water would flood onto the countertop. Toilet paper is ultra cheap and has just about the same consistency as confetti. I recommend buying your own Tp when staying here, as I had to do. Outside of all that, it was a nice establishment. I would rate it as slightly substandard for a mid-range comfort hotel.

    I was put in a room that smelled like pee. I called and kept call with the Staff doing anything about it. After five calls and 8 plus hours I was moved to a new room. That was after I made it clear that I will not be sleeping in the room. The new room had strong chemical smell that flared up my sinuses by the morning.

    Great location close to the airport We were only there for one night, but half of it was wasted by the most horrible shuttle driver. After calling for the shuttle I waited for nearly an hour, and then when they finally pick me up they ran off to the bathroom, tried to make excuses that were lies, and took their sweet time dropping me off. The good news is that when I got to the hotel the desk staff were on top of handling this and comped our breakfast. Sadly this still was not sufficient compensation.

    In my room, I had difficulty with the door, which could have been because of the heat and humidity, causing it to swell and making it difficult to open. Also, the room had a funky smell. Lastly, I went down to breakfast, and many in the dining room thought it was free and then as we started eating a woman came around to say there was a charge. What are you supposed to do as you are already eating? There should have been someone right by the entrance to the buffet saying you will be charged $19.

    The facility had great staff from the front desk to the bar. Would have liked to seen a clock in the workout center and cups for water. The door took seven tries before it opened and other quest had the same problem.The pool and sauna were refreshing. Unfortunately the business center had computers but were not working for 2 days. Left my computer at home. Would like to see in future non alcoholic beer.

    This property is not my favorite. It’s beautiful on the outside, easy to park, good location if you’re going to be traveling around various parts of northern VA but there are issues. On Expedia it was advertised that this property had laundry facilities which we were counting on and we learned they have none for guests. The property also has an indoor pool which the kids were excited about and it was closed for maintenance the entire time we were there with seemingly no work being done on it, just closed. The restaurant was not great at the hotel and is really pricey. The room was a good size and seems to be sound proof which was a strong point and the gym is small but a great mix of everything to keep you fit while traveling.

    Toilet would not flush when we arrived. Maintenance said they fixed the problem but did not. I had diagnosed the problem for them, (stuck float) and after a second attempt to fix the problem they managed to cause the supply line to the toilet to leak. Our stay was for 2 nights so we dealt with the hassle of adjusting the float after each flush. Side note: Language barrier between cleaning staff and guests.

    We stayed there before we had to fly out of Dulles and it says they provide a shuttle bus to the airport but if you have an early flight you can’t get on shuttle bus till 6:00am. So we had to Uber to the airport which cost about $30 and when we were ready to be picked up from the airport the shuttle bus never came so we had to Uber back to the hotel. And parking your car at the hotel was cheaper than parking at the airport. Rooms were clean!

    The only issue we had was when we went to get breakfast the employee acted very rude while retrieving our name and room number. Then when we wasn’t on her list she said “ well your not on my list so it’s going to cost you $17.95 per person”.I showed her our booking itinerary. She then said” I have to check with the front desk”. All the while expressing an attitude as if we was doing something wrong. There was between 20-30 people present. She should have approached us in a different manner.

    This facility does not offer a 24 hr airport shuttle as was indicated on hotels.com. Their shuttle service stops at 10 pm; which meant we had to incur an additional $25 taxi charge. In addition, the “free breakfast”, as was indicated in their service listings, is $18/person. Something that is not mentioned or posted prior to sitting down to eat.

    The stay at Double Tree Hilton Sterling was good to great. Checking in was not trouble, Ozman (sp.) assisted us and was very informative. The size of the room was good, only problem was it had a rolled up wet towel in which I took down to the front and a new towel was brought up to the room. We had trouble with our room key which had to be replace three times just for an overnight stay. Overall, Ozman was really helpful in all our needs and made the stay great. Will definitely stay at Double Tree again.

    Good beds, light, food and so on. The only things which I will recommend to improve: 1) ventilation in the bathroom (it might be an engineering mistake. Worth to check other DT hotels). Its just not draw the air from bathroom. Just do tests. 2) the restaurant does not have a wine list.

    I stayed at this hotel several times and I never seen the property in this condition. My room had no bags in the trash cans, The faucet in the shower was at least two inches off the wall. The pillow cases were dirty. I will find another hotel the next time I travel to Sterling.

I did, however, have ants in my luggage that I had stored in the closet and there were no bags in the trash cans when I needed to throw away food or something like that which also did not help with the ant Situation. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough. Bathrooms were very clean. The gym was also very nice not huge but exactly what you needed for Jim at a hotel stay would definitely come back for the amount of Terminex vehicles in the parking lot I feel the ants could’ve been handled

    The rooms require refreshing. I had to change rooms because the remote control did not work. However, the furniture is dated with scratches and the bed skirts require replacing in all the rooms. The gentleman that checked me in was professional but had to change my room due to the initial room left a lot to be desired. Moreover, the room that I moved to didnt have any shower gel. I don't quite understand the standards for such a prominent hotel back in the day.

    My only negative comment is one of the elevators that i almost got stuck in and the night hotel representative that basically made me feel like I was stupid. Monday January 22, 2024 after 9pm. Got into elevator 1 and pushed my floor button...yes i also scanned my keycard...and it bounced and showed "Out of Service". Thankfully the door opened. I reported this to "him" and not only was he dissmissive but wouldnt answer my question about where i could find stairs to get to my floor.

    It smelled like a nursing home. Had to run to the store to spray down everything with Lysol and Febreze. Towels/Wash cloths had stains on them. Found almonds on the floor from someone’s previous stay. Wallpaper was ripped right in the middle of the wall. I was not at all satisfied with my stay. Very uncomfortable

    The only thing that was really bad was the water from the sink and shower. The sink sprayed in all different directions and the shower pressure was not good. Other than that the beds were great and the place was very clean.

    A “$6” mixed drink at the bar cost $14. The breakfast that is free at Choice & Quality hotels cost $16. No ice machines were in service. There were no vending machines and the snack bar was very poorly stocked. 👎👎👎

    This particular doubletree, needs updated. You can tell the owners, aren’t putting any money back into it. Just a few minor adjustments, and things should be up to normal doubletree standards.
