It’s been at least about eight years since I’ve stayed here at this hotel. The hotel and property grounds itself is nice to look at… however on my first night there, there was a humongous roach crawling around the floor in our room and also there was someone’s eyelash that was stuck to one of the pillows which was kind of disgusting to look at unfortunately. The food at the pool was not any better either, VERY PLAIN & not much flavor- I ordered ceviche and it was not what I expected. It was more like a shrimp cocktail so I was a little disappointed with that as well. The last thing that I will say is that the waterslide there definitely needs to be made to be more slippery. You have to push your way yourself throughout the entire way down pretty much, there is a ton of bees everywhere on the pool deck, as well as inside the pool on the bottom of the floor. I’m not sure if I will come back to stay here as I felt what I paid for was honestly not worth it. I wanted to so bad, to leave such an amazing review because I used to rave about this place when I first stayed here. But I don’t think that I will anytime soon, sorry for this type of review, but this was my honest experience this weekend.

Came here with a group of family for a birthday celebration in Phoenix. I cannot say enough good about this property. Everything was clean and well maintained. Rooms were larger than most and very nicely outfitted. Our entire family, all rented rooms, no one had a single issue with this hotel. Its close to the airport, check-in was courteous and prompt, rooms were clean and nicely updated, restaurant food and staff were great, pool was large and felt like a tropical paradise, provided hours of fun for the family. Even the giftshop was nice and had what we needed. Be prepared to walk a bit, and it takes a few hours to get the layout down. The property itself is absolutely beautiful with meurals and desert plants. It has a wonderful view of the city over a short hike. Highly recommend staying here. We loved it and will certainly be back.

If you go to cafeteria, may sure to asked for Hiba, she was super nice.

The food Was woken up at 6am to a huge sewer cockroach in bed with us and bug bites on our ankles. When I let the front desk know; they told me they'd send someone up to get it. They acted like it was no big deal which means it happens often. I used to be in the hotel industry and if someone told me there was a cockroach in their room I would immediately refund it and put them in a new upgraded room. That is so unacceptable and I'm digusted. All we got was an oops and a sorry. YUCK to the cockroach and how the situation was not handled. Update: went back to the front desk to ask if the cockroach had been taken care of an hour later and they still haven't sent anyone there. They waived the $15 resort fee and the $15 parking... WOW

The overall staff...front desk, poolside, bartenders, resraurant staff, cleaning and locals were so amazing!
- 4/5
Convenient location to airport, Scottsdale and restaurants. The pool is AMAZING! Bed and bedding, pillows super comfy! Clean room. Great gym facility. Easy parking. The restaurant at the hotel was absolutely awful- super expensive, food very subpar and lacked customer service. Had a reservation way in advance to eat outside with a view of mountains for over two months in advance and was told there would be a 40 minute wait to sit outside but we could be seated inside in 10 minutes. Very disappointing and bad management practices. Our most expensive meal of our vacation with the absolute worst food!
- 5/5
We love this hotel, the staff and service is over the top incredible, everyone is so accommodating and helpful, the bar and food is completely reasonable, and the pool and hot tub is unmatched. Special mention to Hiba, Caroline, Meme, Dan, and Brian who ensured we had the best vacation. Like I said the service and staff here is unmatched. That we had to come home.

This place is amazing. We enjoyed the beautiful resort with the two pools and hot tubs. The gym was nice. Room was great. Roomy with a nice view of the distant mountain esp during sunrise. Other side has terraces. Very close to airport, about a 10 min drive. Even has a really good high dollar restaurant on site. Would stay again. Has resort fee of $17 per day and parking of $15 per night, but even so this place is worth it.

I chose this hotel for my last night in Arizona thinking it would be a nice and beautiful place to relax before my flight home. The pictures make it seem like an oasis, but what’s not shown in the pictures is that this property literally sits smack next to a huge highway with super LOUD traffic noise at all hours. The rooms are in a separate property than everything else- it felt like I was staying in an abandoned hotel. The grounds didn’t really look maintained - had almost an apocalyptic feeling, like I rolled up on a set of the walking dead. I needed assistance from the front desk at 9pm and called multiple times and no one answered. And because the front desk is in a different property, I didn’t feel safe trying to walk to it at night, it felt creepy. I also set up a wake up call for 5:15am using their automated system for an early flight - the call never came. Fortunately I set up a back up alarm and was up on time. I feel stupid that I paid twice as much as other hotels in the area thinking that I was upgrading my experience. Total waste of money and very disappointing for a Marriott. I didn’t use the pool but that part did actually look nice.

Staff was very helpful and the pool was awesome. Had dinner and that was awesome as well.

Wanted to come again only issue non smoking rooms, not hypoallergenic; had guests next door smoking weed and it was brought up to the attention of staff twice but was never addressed. Leaving odor, in room to the hallway to the parking lot and having to deal with allergies and asthma. Not a good practice, it could have been addressed or offer to stay in another room.

The room was clean the bed was comfortable however the pillows would get flat after laying on them for a while. The room we had came with a patio that connected to a walk way that led to the pool area. Which was convenient since there are ALOT of stairs to get from one point of the hotel to the other. They do have a restaurant that offered buffet style breakfast. Overall it was a nice stay but for someone that is not as fit or has handicapped issues this resort would be challenging to move around in.

Go to the room and the patio door wouldn’t shut all the way or lock so we had to wait for someone to come fix it. Patio table had a cup full of cigarette butts and beer bottle caps in it. Two bottle caps on the floor in the room as well. Parking is $15, resort fee is $30, no complementary breakfast but they have a buffet for $27 a person, alcoholic drinks will run about $15 each before tip. Pool is not regulated by staff so no one is checking wristbands to ensure it’s only resort guests there. We didn’t put ours on and saw at least a dozen staff who said nothing. I would imagine this is well known in the area and locals are just wandering in to use the pool during the day. Also, I had $20 in charges from the bar on my room that were not mine. It was my room number but a different name. Luckily the front desk took care of it. Staff is friendly but I doubt I will stay here again.

Great Property. Will definitley return.
- 5/5
Wow, this place is amazing. From the available resort offerings (pool, hot tubs, aesthetic appeal, restaurants, parking, maps, gym, etc), to the helpful staff, this was the most amazing hotel I've stayed at in a long time! I love that it's located right in Tempe too, but feels like you're out of the city. The pools were extremely clean, as well as the areas around them. The hot tubs on the rocks felt so luxurious and cool! I will say we waited a LONG time (30 minutes+) for someone to take our order at the bar outside by the pools, nobody even said hi to us. That is the only thing I would comment on.

Housekeeping only came once during our stay, and all they did was make the beds. They did not take out the trash, properly clean the room, or restock necessities. The “fresh” towels they brought were also dirty, which was honestly shocking. This was one of the most horrible hotel experiences I have had, especially for such a nice hotel with a good reputation. I expected much better cleanliness, service, and attention to guests. Very disappointing overall.
- 4/5
The hotel was nice. Just a little dated. Could use a facelift. The pool area was nice as it was in the middle of the mountains.

Hotel is beautiful and I was surprised at the location and design with it being my first time there. Check in was a breeze and the lobby was so pretty with the waterfall inside by the cafe and front desk. The inside bar by the lobby was nice, had a great view and the staff working there were friendly, attentive, and great. We enjoyed food and drinks from the bar and patio and everything was tasty. It really gave a “resort” type of feel. Warning to anyone who hasn’t been, there are a TON of stairs if you plan on going to the pool and wandering around. The place also feels like a maze at times, especially at night. The bartenders at the pool bar were not friendly and barely gave any attention. I get that the timing is off at times but it’s the weekend and the least they could do is acknowledge patrons at the bar. I consistently felt like I was an inconvenience to them by being there and ordering. They would look up at me, all 3 of them, then ignore me. Maybe the bar is closing up which is valid, a little communication could help. After waiting a couple of minutes being ignored, I walked up to the upstairs bar to get drinks, no big deal. As i walked down, the bartender was helping others with new orders. Either you’re closing or you’re not right? And with those stairs, this was not an easy feat between the pool and bar multiple times. Overall I would stay here again, plan better when going to bar and pool, and I would just avoid the pool bar completely. Beautiful view and pool

Marriott Tempe at the Buttes is not only breathtaking but has numerous nooks to sit and look at the view, day and night, two pools, an amazing restaurant called Top of the Rock that seems to be the place to go. The service was above and beyond. Thank you so much!

We were extremely bummed out by this hotel. We thought we were splurging and booked this hotel for almost $300 a night (standard room). The hotels systems were down for 2 days on and off, when we arrived at the hotel we were told we had to just wait it out since they couldn’t use their systems. You would think they would provide some sort of compensation for not being able to check into your room late at night with a baby, but no. We asked them if they could let us know when we could check into and they said yes, but never did. It was on us to keep checking in to see what the status was. The next day we then were afraid to leave our room because they said if we did our cards could turn off due to the system issues and we couldn’t get back to our things. Again, it was on us to check in constantly to see what to do. We ordered room service that never came, and when we got breakfast we were treated poorly, and had to ask for the check twice even after all this, we felt like breakfast should’ve been on the hotel. The hotel is extremely mediocre and not worth what you pay. Very disappointed and will make sure to not visit any Marriott locations knowing this is the way they operate and organized our stay.

Bar food menu is becoming boring.
- 4/5
Overall we had a good experience with our stay. One critique with room cleaning, was that the beds were not overturned every day unless we asked. Also, there was not much variety for breakfast. We had a hick-up when we tried to schedule facials and massages. I called to reserve two facials and two massages, the young lady on the phone for some reason assumed I was reserving one facial and one massage. When we showed up for our facials, we were told that only one had been reserved, and there was only one facial specialist on hand. So we had to cancel that. Also, they had to call in another masseuse. We did get our massages and we were very happy with them.
- 2/5
The two main complaints were: 1. TV remote did not work. IT took three phone calls to the front desk over a 2 1/2 hour period to get a working remote. 2. There were teenagers running up and down the hall yelling and being loud for over 4 hours (until 2:00am) other guests asked them to be quiet and one guest said they already called the front desk but no one came to address the issue.

The property is beautiful and has great amenities! Love the pools and the scenery!

A beautiful resort. Food was great, pool and pool bar were a delight. Staff were top notch and very attentive. Loved our 6 nights and will be back again.

The Top Of The Rock Restaurant completed our anniversary celebration in grand style. The food was great and the service was top shelf.
- 4/5
The front desk staff was wonderful. There was an issue with facility service trying to work on our room’s lock system at night without telling us. After the situation was addressed, the managerial staff communicated what changes they would make moving forward. I felt listened to and I do believe they aim to satisfy their patrons.
- 5/5
Pool and tub area were great
- 1/5
Tried charging us double the rate at check in after we already paid for the stay, proceeds to make it seem like it was my fault and gave me attitude. At breakfast a waitress didn’t appreciate my 20% tip and goes “ahaha you” trying to cover it with laughter.
- 4/5
Food is good, close to where I had my meetings, and very close to the airport. The additional $5 charges for delivery room service, $15 for parking that is outside did not impress me.
- 5/5
Room was clean , we didn’t try food since there were plenty of options nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with kids on Easter breaks. Hotel is definitely close to all attractions
- 4/5
My family enjoyed the hotel and staff however we experienced a couple of large waterbug on our room wall over the headboard and in the closet. Additionally the jacuzzi jets were missing and didn't provided a therapeutic experience in any of the jacuzzis. Hopefully you'll have someone address these issues especially the large waterbugs or large roaches, after trying to catch and kill them, we had to place a large towel under the main room door.

For a Marriott hotel, it was very subpar! Space the vending machines were empty the entire stay and the ice machine didn’t work. Compared to the online picture the pool was subpar! The water was dirty, especially in the hot tub. I feel for how old and somewhat run down the hotel is it is way overpriced.
- 5/5
Awesome! Has everything you need.

Property and rooms were very clean and landscaping was beautiful. In my opinion, the pool n hot tub area could some maintenance or updates but still nice. We ate on site and the food and service were on point!! Front desk staff was wonderful too!!

The biggest down fall of the resort is how long it takes to get breakfast when you order off menu. It took about 30-45 minutes for an omelette. If you choose the “buffet” it’s quick but very limited options. The room I stayed in was clean and very spacious although a little outdated. Check out was at 11am but my key stopped working at 10am which was annoying, but they came with a new key within 10 minutes. I would definitely come back overall experience was great. The staff definitely made the stay very welcoming.
- 5/5
Cleanliness was on point
- 5/5
Hotel is beautiful and relaxing. Staff is welcoming and helpful. This stay was just what I needed. I will return in the future.
- 3/5
I would encourage you to double check your room before you settle in. Our experience was poor in regards to dirty fridge, we were given the wrong room and they would have still charged us for the more expensive room if we had not brought it to their attention. We also had a leaky toilet. For the price we paid, I had higher expectations. I would like to note that once we brought this to the staffs attention, they were incredibly accommodating and sincerely apologetic.
- 3/5
The rooms were clean. The pool was packed and could not find a spot. Hot tub was not cleaned well. Gym was just ok.
- 5/5
Everyone was thoughtful/ accommodating
- 2/5
The pool water was ice cold There were not enough chairs near the pool for everyone staying at the hotel. Only once in the 6 days I was there did I get a seat by the pool (and that was only one chair). The gym is very small The WiFi was sporadic Not a pleasant experience overall
- 4/5
Gym was nice but a bit small. Our room was fine but the couple we were traveling with were out in an uncleaned room that was very dirty. They were able to switch rooms but seems like lack of quality control. Pool was nice but they ran out of towels

This resort is in need of service training, and equipment repairs !!! The room promised as compared to the room offered was far, far disappointing!! The pool chairs and hot tub equipment were in need of severe repair and quite disappointing. It’s too bad, since the location to Phoenix is wonderful, but I really don’t know if I will be back, unless I hear from the property with some resolution ideas. Only time will tell now!
- 3/5
Staff was friendly
- 3/5
The only staff i encountered was during check in and check out. Very nice and courteous. The room, to me, is a typical hotel room. The toilet area seemed to be small ( only a 3 x 5 area) with a shower only, no tub. Hotels should really pay more attention to the outlets. When you plug something into an outlet, it shouldn't be loose to where the plug almost falls out.

- 3/5
Room, staff, and amenities were all great! However, ordered room services and could not finish it. Ordered a burger meal and chicken strip meal, everything was fried in the same oil that had an awful sour flavor and smell. It was the end of the night so possibly it just needed to be replaced/switched out. Though, it made the food basically inedible. Really disappointed with that:(
- 5/5
The resort is breathtaking with beautiful view from every angle. Being able to relax in the hot tub while looking out at the city lights/sunset was the highlight. Being intertwined with nature is my favorite part. The staff was amazing. I’ve stayed here many times and will always be back. It was my boyfriends first time and he fell in love!

Room was good, property was ok, nice amenities
- 5/5
Beautiful and clean room, sleek and modern design, and the property was stunning. Will definitely be coming back!
- 1/5
The bed was uncomfortable. The pillows were hard as rocks and the bedding was inadequate. It was insulting to be charged $15 a day for valet parking that was never used. I was very disappointed in the facility Extremely unfortunate
- 3/5
It is a really nice resort. But pricey, 15$ a day for parking in other expenses and fees like any other resort or hotel these days is going to add up. But definitely not a bad spot to have a nice weekend in phoenix
- 4/5
The Hotel itself was a beautiful and the view of the city from the room was equally beautiful. I only had a chance to interact with the front desk and that was such an easy experience, making the entire visit very enjoyable.
- 4/5
Beautiful property with wonderful heated pools. Room was clean. Opinion; restaurant food selection needs improvement and prices down so they get volume in and make up on drinks. Need more staff at pools walking around taking orders for food and drinks as well as operating slide for kids
- 5/5
the food at the hotel bar was better....
- 1/5
On the morning of the incident, I got out of bed and suddenly felt a sharp, stabbing pain. I immediately checked the bedding, where I discovered a needle embedded into the bedding fabric. The needle had punctured my foot, leaving a visible puncture mark. A sharp object of any kind should never be present in guest bedding and presents an obvious safety risk. The management representative dismissed the issue, stating that “this is not a drug needle or a diabetic needle — it is just a sewing needle.” This conclusion was made without any investigation or confirmation of the needle’s origin, which is not an appropriate risk assessment. I asked whether the hotel could investigate how the needle ended up in the bed. They said the needle “could have been left by a previous guest or could have come from the hotel.” During the same conversation, management explicitly stated that beds considered “unused” are not cleaned or changed. Which shocked me since I believe a full cleaning after checking out is the basic procedure. No clear information was provided regarding investigation, procedural review, or preventive measures. The risk was minimized rather than addressed. Will never choose Mariott.

We liked it. It feels very 1970's but updated. The room was not exciting but was fine. We had a "city view" which meant highway noise but we didn't mind the extra white noise. Staff were nice and helpful. The pools and hot tubs are nice and we enjoyed the pool slide. We tried the Top of the Rock restaurant which was beautiful though not snooty, and very expensive. The beds were comfortable, slightly squishy. We'd stay again.

The service at this Marriott resort was a cut above what you often find in hotels today. Appreciated that the front desk was always adequately staffed and that housekeeping came everyday without my having to request this service. Room in the 6000 building was a bit blah— I wish it had a microwave. I would stay here again.

The property was beautiful but unfortunately the pool bathrooms and lobby were not clean. No clean pool towels the first day. Dirty towels and trash overflowing by the pool. Trash and cigarettes left near hot tub
- 5/5
Nice room and great view
- 4/5
Room seemed clean the property is nice, really good restaurant, a very nice pool and spa area. We were there for a family event off the premises so I didn’t spend a lot of time during the day onsite, but my husband and I, who travel a lot, enjoyed our stay.
- 1/5
Room was not to standards, shower was small, bathroom door didn’t shut all the way and a tree fell on our car the day we left. The spa services (couples massage) was terrible. Worst massage I’ve ever had. Overall poor experience.
- 2/5
We called down 3-4 times about are sink over flowing and was clogged and stunk up the entire bathroom. Was so nasty for such a nice hotel I was totally discounted. No e of the vending machines work cause they are plugged into an illegal extension costs not up to code that keeps tripping breaker. But hey the hot tub was nice
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, friendly staff
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
I loved everything!
- 5/5
The views was amazing. Service was so friendly and helpful. The pool the restaurants and the rooms were just breathtaking.
- 1/5
We decided we would go have a drink at the bar at the hotel. The bar tender took our order my wife got her drink and found a seat. The bar tender made me the wrong drink and then instead to fixing it really quick he made me pay for the drinks and then went around and cleared tables and mixed 3 other drinks before he made the one he messed up on. We got back to the room and I was just going to watch TV well the TV wasn’t working either. Scrambled picture and no volume control. I would not recommend this place to anyone for this price.
- 5/5
Was a great place in the city but feels like your in a different place
- 5/5
Really nice natural great time only thing was we did switch rooms first floor smelled a bit
- 5/5
First class customer service and amenities, all around. Kudos! The only suggestion I have is to add towel bars in the bathrooms. Many thanks!
- 5/5
The property itself feels both secluded and safe, offering a peaceful retreat while still being close to everything in Tempe. The staff were friendly and professional, and the overall atmosphere made it easy to unwind. Next time I’m in town, I’ll definitely be a repeat customer. Highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for comfort, quality, and a touch of tranquility.
- 3/5
The pool is closed we went there just for the experience of the pool and the resort like atmosphere. Also I ran out of conditioner no one had refilled it in the shower and I had to stop my shower and wait for them to arrive back with more conditioner
- 2/5
The rooms are updated but the rest of the hotel is falling apart. The wallpaper in the hallways is coming apart, the ceilings have actual holes in them along with damaged baseboards. The creamer in the room was spoiled, so clearly that hasn't been changed out in a long time. The hotel is right next to the highway so you here the traffic no matter what side of the hotel you are on. It was definitely not worth $330 a night.
- 4/5
The pool furniture and tables were filthy. The views make up for it. The air conditioning in our room turned on and off loudly every 10. minutes. Room service was great. Live music on Tuesday was fun. Great espresso martinis. Pool bartender was good. I think his name was Dan. Rooms were nice, beds were great! We would definitely go back!
- 3/5
This property felt like a really upscale motel. It’s aging. The pool was dirty and the patio around the pool areas were covered in dirt and pebbles. Apparently parts of the hotel had been recently remodeled, but it just didn’t feel up to par.
- 5/5
Great views
- 3/5
Pool under construction without notice
- 5/5
Great
- 1/5
When I asked for at least breakfast vouchers to make up for it, the front desk refused and only waived the $17 resort fee. After paying $700 for two nights, that was insulting. To make matters worse, water drips were scattered throughout the hotel, making the place feel poorly maintained. Overall, what was supposed to be a special family celebration turned into a very disappointing stay. For the price we paid, the experience and customer service fell far short.
- 5/5
This resort offers a large pool, multiple hot tubs, and a spa, as well as on-site dining with beautiful views. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers very good food, a tad expensive but delicious, loved the steak dinner. It was also close to the airport.
- 5/5
Amazing stay
- 5/5
The pool area/bar made the experience 10/10 and The rooms were very nice and clean.
- 3/5
Nice hotel but in need of some real updates. The whole place smelled musty which got me. The amenities seemed good but wete closed for weather when i was there.
- 1/5
All in all, this hotel is several decades past its prime. Almost everything is worn out or grossly outdated. Mildew covers surfaces, dirt layers on dirt, and the chairs look as if millions have sat on them. It’s difficult to overstate just how far behind this property is. Some of the photos may look appealing, but they bear no resemblance to the reality on site. I would strongly recommend you do not stay here.
- 5/5
Loved every part of my stay
- 5/5
I love staying here.
- 5/5
The property waa great and so was the pool.
- 5/5
Comfortable
- 3/5
The rooms are fairly unappealing, a little on the dirtier side and I noticed a few bugs flying around. The property itself is average. The positive might be the pool was pretty nice.
- 5/5
Great place been coming here 1-2 times per year
- 5/5
Peaceful, relaxing environment. Beautiful views of the mountains.
- 5/5
All around it was a great experience. The only thing I didn't like was having so many kids in the pool playing foorball and taking ownership of pool.
- 5/5
The views and pool are amazing. Food is a bit overpriced for the value, but a nice facility overall
- 4/5
Friendly accommodating staff. The only thing I didn’t like was that the toilet and the shower were together in a smaller area, with a somewhat heavy sliding door. While the rest of the bathroom is wide open from the hallway( no door) also there is a lack of towel racks.
- 1/5
There are other disappointments but our biggest is the noise all hours of the night extremely loud music still playing at midnight, I have video at 3:30 am still playing so loud. We did not call and complain because we did not feel safe. What a very very disappointing trip. We will take our business elsewhere, The Buttes have long been a family favorite. No longer.
- 5/5
Excelent place
- 5/5
Beautiful area
- 2/5
Elevator not working, hard mattress in room, cramped restroom
- 5/5
Great experience
- 2/5
The person who checked us in was very friendly. The hallways and elevators were very hot as well as the restaurant. The AC is not working well. It was cool in our hotel room which was nice but nowhere else in the hotel. At 4 AM we were woken up by someone pounding on the door at the room next to us. Unfortunately it has gone downhill since our last stay 25 years ago. Will not be back, but would go back to Top of the Rock restaurant due to food quality.
- 5/5
Love this hotel and the top of the rock restaurant. Excellent staff all throughout the property. Special thanks to Emik for checking us in and out. Lovely, kind woman. I’d definitely come back.
- 3/5
Our room had 5 dead cockroaches around the bathroom and a living one running across the bedroom floor where we arrived. Not sure if it hadn’t been cleaned in a while or why so many dead cockroaches. Then we were greeted by a mouse as we exited the elevator.
- 5/5
the whole experience was great .
- 3/5
Way to long a walk from check in to the your room it’s a poorly laid out property with a crazy amount of stairs as well as having to go from an air conditioning to out side to a hot elevator to then a long hallway to the rooms.
- 4/5
We had a great experience just wish the pool was opened longer on the weekends also more food options would be great
- 5/5
Great pools! Little dated but in a kitschy way that’s charming.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Very nice resort
- 4/5
This location had a great pool and the food was delicious! There was a very easy check in and check out process. Only downfall was not small marketplace or hotel store for snacks.
- 2/5
I had high hopes for our stay at the Marriott at the Buttes, but unfortunately, it fell short in many areas. The property is in desperate need of an update—what could be a beautiful, high-traffic destination is instead falling behind due to lack of upkeep and attention to detail. The cleanliness of the pool area was disappointing. It clearly needs a thorough deep clean, and the overall landscaping felt neglected. The property could benefit greatly from some added vibrancy—flowers, cacti, or any thoughtful desert landscaping touches to enhance the ambiance. What stood out most to me was the extreme understaffing. I felt genuinely sorry for the one young lady trying to service the entire pool area in the 115-degree Arizona heat. She had no ice vest, fan, or cooling support—something that’s not only inconsiderate, but frankly, a liability for the Marriott brand. On top of that, everything shut down by 4 PM. No poolside drinks after that unless you made the long walk to the main bar, which was also severely understaffed. There were no evening events, entertainment, or even small touches to create a memorable guest experience. Overall, the lack of hospitality and the absence of basic operational standards were frustrating. There is so much potential here, but until major improvements are made in staffing, cleanliness and guest services,I won’t be returning.
- 5/5
Great stay, loved the pool
- 5/5
I liked the that it had walking trails.
- 5/5
Pretty place! I like the pool!
- 5/5
Price was amazing for the resort experience we received. Room was great and pool was awesome! Will totally come back next time we are in the area!
- 5/5
Loved everything about this hotel it’s clean, bed is comfy the pools are amazing and kind staff
- 5/5
Great staff and great stay. Top of the mountain restaraunt was amazing.
- 5/5
Nice hotel and pool
- 2/5
Very noisy clientle and there were large roaches on the floor when I first went in the room on the 3rd floor. Stinch of marijuana smell in the hallway and very load A/C in the room. Shower head was corroded with hard water buildup and towels stink/not clean.
- 4/5
Seating area around pools was terrible. Too many people not enough seats. Staff should check to make sure there’s paying people there with bracelets. A lot didn’t have bracelets and were there taking up all the loungers and chairs.
- 3/5
Property needed a thorough cleaning and lots of remodeling. The staff and food was awesome. They were excellent. But the property was not well taken care of. Looked very run down. Sky lights in the restaurant did not know that is what they were because you couldn'tsee through them. Some where even cracked.
- 4/5
We stayed here approx 16 years ago. A lot of the amenities are gone. We had a great stay. Pool is great and staff is very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff and rooms! Loved the pools
- 5/5
Great stay, a bit of walking and stairs which isn’t a problem for me.
- 5/5
A Hotel in the Rocks. Very unique setting and gorgeous views. Rooms were very comfortable and the shower was amazing. Only problem during the stay was the Soda Machine dispensing Regular Soda instead of Diet when pressed.
- 1/5
It looks like a ware down used to be amazing hotel. But the staff was just aweful.
- 5/5
Very beautiful place.
- 5/5
Nice for families, affordable prices.
- 4/5
It didn’t look like the photos online but still nice but not new.
- 5/5
All good
- 4/5
Also could use more restaurants or food services for the dinner service. Overall a very nice hotel, great location to airport and interesting design.
- 3/5
The grounds need some work. Dead plants and foliage needs trimmed. No flowers in pots. Beware they charge to park in the parking lot $15 plus taxe per day. This is on top of their $75 resort fee.
- 5/5
Outstanding property & amenities. Have stayed here multiple times over the years. Never disappoints. Must stay in the Tempe/Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
- 5/5
Great location and great amenities
- 5/5
The view was beautiful
- 5/5
We enjoyed the room but did not enjoy coming back to our room at 2:30pm and finding that our room was still not cleaned. We had the cleaning staff stop us before we went into our room to say that they were running late, so we left to give them time to clean. We were charged a resort fee which is fine, but apparently parking is not covered in the resort fee so you get double charged for staying at The Buttes. The view was great, atmosphere was wonderful, but the extra charges weren't worth going back.
- 5/5
I absolutely love this hotel! the staff are all so amazing, the pool is perfect and the vibe is great.
- 5/5
Beautiful property
- 5/5
It was a nice relaxing vacation with beautiful pools!!!
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms
- 3/5
Place is beautiful but its outdated also they carge 15 dollars per night for parking i was charge an extra 45 dollars so how fo they expext people get to the hotel ??
- 1/5
Stairs. Everywhere. The hotel is built into a mountain and the guest rooms are at the bottom. We had to walk around with our property map for the first few hours because there is NO signage to tell you where the pool, restaurant, rooms, or bar is. The hotel staff were not very good with English, the restaurant staff were. There were 3 jacuzzis and each one had tiles more yellow than a rednecks teeth. The pools were FILLED with children, I got hit with a football, a volleyball, and constantly splashed (apparently they had a water slide that wasn’t open). Kids brought their own floaties, pool noodles, and everything else. The pools smelled like urine more than water. There was absolutely not enough chlorine in the water and the pools were screaming to be cleaned louder than the children running up and down the hallways at 12am. For the price I expected so much better, it was supposed to be our anniversary getaway and it ended up being more stressful than anything. FYI the waterfalls are trickles more than antthing. Please watch out for the ants and bees, I was stung twice.
- 5/5
Loved this resort. Affordable. Will be back again.
- 5/5
The grounds and staff were great!
- 5/5
Would definitely recommend this site and hope to return someday!

Staff very friendly , very pretty

Very nice property
- 3/5
Nice view somewhat outdated
- 5/5
My kids and I have amazing time here
- 1/5
It is not price worth.
- 5/5
Beautiful property! Will definitely come back!
- 5/5
The pools and hot tubs are the best!
- 5/5
Built into a ‘butte’ the amenities were cleverly placed and views of area and sun rise and set are breathtaking
- 3/5
Beautiful property. Nice room. Clean. Traffic noise from the freeway across the parking lot was absolutely horrendous! Like being in a tent in the fuse of the highway.
- 4/5
The property had amazing views. The dining experience was great. You can tell some of the properties age, but overall I was satisfied with my stay.
- 4/5
Great property! It is an older hotel and could use some upgrades like carpet. Other than that hotel is great! Staff were amazing!! Would definitely recommend and stay here again!
- 3/5
The pool had a lot of bees and ants all over the pool chairs. Very dirty around the pool area.
- 5/5
The property is huge and so beautiful! The landscaping is out of this world. Loved the restaurants on site and the views of the city from the restaurants. There were also se several different locations for great views of the city/mountains. Once you check in, a bell hop will take your bags and give you a ride to your room and you can call the front desk for this service any time you want to explore the property. The location was less than 10 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from one of the few IMAX theaters showing Sinners. Wished we had more than one day here…I will def be back!!!
- 5/5
The pools and hot tubs were so relaxing!
- 5/5
We came down from California for our son’s spring break and were not disappointed! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the grounds were gorgeous!
- 5/5
great for a one night stay in phoenix, nice pool set up
- 3/5
The resort was beautiful very relaxing. But the rooms walls were very thin you can hear everything and couldn’t sleep at night.
- 5/5
Loved the stay, quiet and convenient
- 5/5
We had such a great experience staying here! The resort is very clean, with beautiful walking areas and great spots to take photos. The pool was sparkling clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly – it really felt welcoming from the moment we arrived. One of the best things is how accessible everything is – parking was easy, and you're close to restaurants, malls, souvenir shops, and food options. The views are gorgeous, especially during sunset, and the overall atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. If I had one suggestion, it would be to extend the pool hours to 11 p.m. – it's such a lovely experience to swim under the stars, and 10 p.m. feels just a little too early to close. All in all, I’d absolutely recommend this place. It’s in a great location, everything is nearby, and the vibe is just right. Definitely a 5 out of 5!
- 5/5
love the area. didn’t like paying to park
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
We have stayed here before. It’s always a nice place to stay when we come to Phoenix.
- 3/5
The pools were nice and the beds comfortable.
- 5/5
Pools were incredible. Service staff were all great (registration could be friendlier). Distance to everything was crazy long - should be disclosed for those who may not be able to walk long distances easily.
- 5/5
Amazing pool and restaurants.
- 5/5
Super cool property with incredible grounds and pools carved out of a rock buttress. Wish we’d had more time here, will be back!
- 3/5
Sign lighting at night was dreadful. We could smell cigar smoke in one of the elevators. Check in was very slow. Not enough staff.
- 4/5
Very conveniently located, clean rooms, comfortable bed.
