We stayed there last night on our way to Harrisburg PA. The room is was dark with no proper lighting. Bedsheets and towels were stained. Bathroom was also not clean and tub was clogged. Carpet look filthy. There was nothing to eat or drink for breakfast but just the 3 granola bars. And the granola bars could make people throw up. The breakfast had 3 tables and each with 4 chairs there is no center light. Breakfast service was included when we booker the room. The room was dusty, smells like smoke. and we had to cleaned it. After we woke up everyone's nose had dust. There is no elevator in the hotel and we have to climb up stairs with all are bags. It was not disclosed at the time of booking that there is no elevator. Customer service was worst when we asked for clean towel lady on front desk was very hesitant to provide and talk rudely. They told us to not smoke but the front desk person was smoking. They have all the fake photos online to fool innocent people.

At this location there is no one to greet you. You have to call a number to get someone to come check you in or out God forbid you need anything because you get attitude for making someone come to the front desk. There are no amenities. The free breakfast is non existent. Do not drink the coffee whatever you do. The place looks like it has never been renovated. Its old , outdated and very grungy. Solo and all other travelers beware!!!!! This place is very sketchy. Don't waste your time or money here definitely not worth it. I have never encountered a Wyndham hotel quite like this one. the place should be shut down.

Location was close to cunningham falls and catoctin. Staff was rude and unprofessional. There was 4 of us and we were given the standard 2 towels. Asked for 2 more. Once those were used, we wanted to exchange them for clean ones the next day since we were in town for 3 days. Couldn't find any Staff but saw the maintenance man smoking by the front door and asked if he could help. He didn't acknowledge me. After ringing the bell for about 10 minutes, a lady with a weed shirt came and after a short debate agreed to give new towels. They looked dirty. So did the bedding so we went out and bought our own. Advertised continental breakfast but didn't even have coffee. Just some old stale raisin brand cereal. Appeared to have people living there. Hallway is filthy and smells like smoke. Room was not very clean. Extremely dissatisfied to have spent over $100 per night just to be treated like am inconvenience...

The TV was static on most channels. Their breakfast is granola bars and coffee. Most of the time you can't find the staff. The staff there is very very rude. The fridge barely works. The sink and shower both drains are clogged. They didn't give enough towels for the amount of people staying in the room and when asked for more we got a very bad attitude for asking for more towels. Very bad experience and won't go back.

Rarely ever answered the phone. Hard to get extras (towels, toilet paper) for your room when needed. It was easy to get to right off the highway. The room was clean & cheap and okay for my quick overnight stay. The outside door at the end of the building was not lockable because it was broken which was a little unsettling especially being a lone traveler. Although there is no smoking in the building, my room smelled heavily like smoke. I went to the front desk to change rooms, and the attendant was gone. There was a sign with a number to call for assistance, but I didn't have time to wait. It was very creepy returning later that night without an attendant in the building.

Breakfast was acidic coffee and a banana - was told yogurt and muffins only put out for weekend guests. Black mold in the bathroom. Cat hair on the recliner - was told a lady with 5 cats had stayed in the room the previous week (glad I didn't have a car allergy - would have been nice to know up front). Was told blankets and covers get cleaned every 3 weeks...gross. This was a bad Super 8. Almost forgot, desk lady walked around the lobby barefoot - that's pretty unsanitary. Yikes....

I returned to the property at 8:30 pm on Saturday night of my reservation. My room key card did not work. I returned to the front desk to request it be rekeyed and no-one was on duty. I made every attempt to find an employee by calling every number I could find but no-one responded. Finally, after a very long wait, one employee appeared, obviously off-duty, to give me a new key. This caused my subsequent evening plans to be very far behind schedule. As I left the property once I finally got the situation resolved, others were in the lobby facing the same problem. This created a really bad impression on what otherwise would have been an acceptable stay.

Closest hotel to Camp David. Although the staff and owner is super sweet and friendly. You have to call to get one of them to come to the front. I really can’t believe this is backed by Wyndham being so outdated. But have to say that the bed was comfortable. But breakfast is laughable!!! A stale off brand granola bar, broken coffee pot for the weekdays and a stale little bowl of arisen band cereal for the weekend. It’s a good thing so many breakfast places and grocery store is near. But it’s conveniently at the base of the mountain, quiet and clean. But for the nightly rate. This hotel should be so much more!!!!

I understand this is a budget hotel. We were looking basically for a bed and a bathroom. The room was a little rough around the edges but that was okay. The dead bugs in the bathtub and gnats in the sink were disappointing. But the real disappointment was the bed bugs. I killed four and gave up. Had to sleep in the recliner. It will be a long time before I go to another Super 8.

Trying to find this place was horrible. There were no lights. Finally my son saw the sign. I thought there was a power outage. No lights outside or in the sign. We drove by it 4 times. Complete darkness maybe a few window lights on. Checking in the staff was nice it just took them forever to get to the check in desk and it was only around 8:30. Going to the room the door wouldn’t open. The hotel staff couldn’t get it open. They finally changed our room. The beds were as old as me. I felt springs. The shower had water standing in the tub during my shower. Then you can’t even sleep in. They are texting you at 8am trying to find out when you are checking out. It was a joke!!!

Air was off when we go to the room so was very hot and uncomfortable. No one at the front desk when we went to check it. Had to call a number. Lady who came looked like she just rolled out of bed. Check out there was also no one present. Checked out online but not sure I even did it correctly. I don't think the back door locked like it said it did. Was advertised free breakfast and there wasn't. But honestly with how poor everything else was I don't even think I would have eaten there.

I didn't do due diligence when booking this property. Super 8 has been a simple but clean option in the past. The room was dirty, the bed sank in the middle, the two pillows were almost flat, the included breakfast was nearly non-existent, the room was in need of a refresh, the grounds needed work (a mowing and weeding at least), and the staff were not dressed professionally. I realize this last bit is being picky, but a ratty t-shirt and old jeans is not professional. However, I guess it's what one gets for $79/night. I chose this motel since it is close to the venue where the wedding we attended took place.

We were called and advised there may not be hot water when we checked in, but they had someone working on it. We assumed this would be corrected by the next morning, but it was not. Worse than that, there was never anyone at the front desk other than when we checked in on Thursday evening. We tried calling and walking up off and on several times to try and find out about the water, and to try and find another hotel, but with no one at the desk we didn't know what to do. Also, we were told when we checked in there would be light breakfast with coffee in the am, but that was a lie. The only thing in the breakfast area was 1 granola bar on Friday morning, and 2 bananas on Friday morning. I truly feel we are owed a refund, but I'm sure that is not going to happen. Sincerely, Kimberly Omps

I have traveled all over the world and this hotel wins for the worst I have ever stayed at. Upon checking in no one was at the counter and when the number left was dialed no one answered. Upon receiving a call back 5 minutes later, I was informed that the hot water tank was broken so not hot water. It was late so I said fine I am here now I’ll deal with the cold shower. The room was dingy and the bed was saggy and in comfortable. I had the pleasure of having to spend a second night there and the hot water was never fixed nor did I ever observe a staff member occupying the front. The breakfast was non existent the first day had a clerical bar and the second had a yogurt. Stay away this hotel should be remodeled and the management fired what a dump!

Housekeeping stole items. I booked a 2 night stay, but they thought I had overstayed and bagged my stuff up. Apparently, they "lost" some food and a set of headphones when they dumped the stuff back in my room. Clerk didn't seem that phased or apologetic. Otherwise, it was an okay stay in a run down but working motel. The "breakfast" was supposed to be some snacks and coffee, and it wasn't even provided. Maybe it was lost too.

I was really frustrated about this booking. Admittedly it was over the Thanksgiving holiday, so I understand that the staff had limited hours; however, we had family from out of town come in, and we couldn’t put them all up at our house; so we booked them a room at the hotel. No person was working the whole time they were there. We chose it because they offered breakfast. There was no breakfast any day. Worse, the room they were in had some kind of sealing issue in the shower. If they used it, it leaked to the floor below, which means they couldn’t shower either. And because no one was physically working in the hotel over the weekend, they couldn’t even change rooms let alone get it fixed. I feel terrible because the purpose of sending them to the hotel was to give them a better experience than our cramped house and overused water heater. Instead, they had no food or shower. If you take bookings over a holiday, then you need to be prepared to offer the services advertised.

The room was shabby and dusty. There were a couple hairs in the tub. Using the back door to enter was next to bushes and shrubs which isn't safe at night. Scott who signed us in was really nice.

The staff at this Super 8 were very friendly, helpful, compassionate, & accommodating. We had a family emergency and the staff helped us greatly. This is a dated Super 8 but very clean and very friendly. I would definitely stay at this location again!

This property was absolutely disgusting. There were ants everywhere and the bathroom clearly wasn't cleaned for a long time. The AC unit screached all night. Nobody slept. The staff were either insane or on drugs. He kept calling me adam when i said my name was robert multiple times. They also messed up the booking and he angrily tried blaming me. Him and the manager got into an argument in front of guest over the phone. We left early and want our money back. Other guest left early too. We met a group who planned three days. They left with 2 days left. This place needs to be shutdown.

The hotel is old and needs a lot of maintenance and repair. The owner checked us in and he was telling us how things are falling apart. Our door latch was broken. The room smelled like smoke. There were old nail files on the floor along the floor boards. The desk chair was broken and my husband fell out of it. The other fabric chair was so loose we did not dare sit on that one. I do not advise any one to stay here unless necessary. Sorry

Room was clean and the price was reasonable, however, it was advertised as breakfast included on the website, but the "Breakfast" was actually a bite size breakfast bar. I thought that was a little misleading.

Older no frills motel. Room was basic and mostly clean. Older carpets and tub. Mattress was older but I slept ok, 3 small pillows on bed. Bathroom had a bar of soap and no shampoo or conditioner. Walls thin so you can hear neighbors. Stopped by the lobby at 8am and breakfast was not out and no one at the front desk.

Sketchy people staying there at the time I was there which made me more aware of my surroundings. Did not have breakfast available as advertised. Had coffee available with 8 oz foam cups, generic sugar and generic dry powder coffee creamer. The one day there was no cups and not like you can ask for anything because no one was ever at the desk.

The Guy at the counter was very nice, but the rooms are extremely outdated, the beds are tiny and feel like the bed frame is about to break. It lists as having breakfast but there was nothing out at 8 am when we were getting ready to leave which is frustrating when you select a place because they're supposed to have breakfast. When we asked we were told they had bananas but there were "hogs" living there who take all the stuff put out. Not worth the money

Cigarette burn on the old blanket. Pillow cases were pilled and 1 had animal and curly hair on it. New linens were definitely needed. I didn't see any breakfast. I came out to get breakfast, then couldn't get back in my room No shampoo was provided. Shower pressure wavered. The front desk person was very nice. I've stayed in worse places in emergent situations. But this definitely was just a place to sleep, shower and go.

This hotel needs some serious updating. The beds and room were clean overall. The bathroom could’ve used a good scrub down all over and the tub kept backing up. Front desk was unavailable most of the time and no continental breakfast available during my 4 day stay.

When we arrived, the front desk clerk asked if we wanted to "check our room" before doing our paperwork. That should have been our sign but since we were just changing and sleeping there around a local wedding, it did the job. No breakfast available in the morning, wouldn't take a shower there if I had to, and overall bad smell. Find a different option if you can.

Guys were super friendly at check in. They felt like old family friends. However, hotel looks really, really worn down and very dingy and outdated. Towels and pillows have exceeded their shelf life and should be replaced as well as provide more in each room. No toiletries or even a full roll of tp. Everything was tidy, just in desperate need of a refresh! I would stay here again because it was convenient and friendly, but it reinforces the notion, you get what you pay for.

This stay was very disappointing. We have stayed here before and it has gone downhill. On the positive side, the gentleman who checked us in was very kind and helpful. On the negative side, the room was dirty. The sheets were stained (we asked for a new set), and there was dust/dirt behind the mattress (headboard). The bathroom was bad....the tub had serious stains that may never come out. We had to ask for more towels because there was not a complete set for each of us. My other big complaint is that the noise level between floors was terrible. We were on the first floor, and I could hear the guest in the room above walking across his floor. He had a pet which ran around a lot, sometimes waking me when I slept. Why wasn't there more of a sound buffer? We have never had that experience before. Breakfast was only coffee, granola bars, and yogurt. The location is great if you need to be in Thurmont, but we would not stay there again.

As soon as we saw the place we knew we were in trouble, it's in dire need of general upkeep and maintenance, and a thorough cleaning. That being said, we always felt safe, perhaps it's a rehab employment and transitional living situation, judging from the cast of characters. Front desk local good ole boys were efficient, friendly, and helpful upon check-in, advising us that on-site coffee and breakfast is best had at the High's etc. down the block. The Food Lion across the street had cleaning products so we could clean the bathroom ourselves (don't ask) and purchase toiletries, if needed. Solid plumbing and plentiful hot water; if you've been living in your car or a pup tent for awhile it's awesome. If you're used to Hampton or Hilton Garden Inns, you'll be horrified. Vintage quirks (hair dryer with night light) and some room updates (walls, paint, bathroom floor) at this historic 888th Super 8, if you're into that. Wish Wyndham cared...

Was visiting family. Had stayed there under different "management" 20(?) years ago. Everything was as expected, but check-in not so good. As I had prepaid through Expedia, his computer said something about he had to re-scan my cc! He did, after calling his "Manager". This was 11:00pm and I was extremely tired. And, his speech was "mumbling" and never got better. I was afraid I would be double-charged with the re-scan! That is yet to be seen. He assured I wouldn't. Check in should've been 5-6 minutes, not 20!

Check in was fast, but the comment made that all the doors to get into the hotel would be unblocked, and that no one from staff would be available from like 2am to 7am, did not make us feel good at all. Someone was there for checkout from 7am to 11am, then when we went back to see if we lost an item or forgot it, they were gone again..no staff at the hotel property at all till 3pm when check in started again. We left a number to call us back on the counter and no response at all. Everything was dirty and dusty behind the furniture. The pillows were old and stained, thank goodness we had a blanket we could throw over them. The shower spout was so disgusting and we weren't sure if the tub was clean. I also felt uneasy that the windows to the outside felt as though someone could easily open them from the outside. This hotel needs a major update for sure. Will not be back. We thought because it said it was associated with Wyndham it was going to be worth it. It was not.

It was just OK. I called the day before to get COVID reg info and no one answered for a few hours and no one returned the message I left until we had already stayed. Finally got someone to answer the phone just before I was about to cancel. I had to beg for two keys and two coffee cups and 4 coffee packets. Their continental breakfast was not up since COVID so didn’t think asking for coffee was out of order.

For the price, this is a good place to stay. The bed was comfortable and the location was great, right across the road from restaurants, liquor store and grocery store. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a basic breakfast of cereal, toast, waffles, juice, yogurt and coffee. The art work in the room was very nice and there was a fridge and coffee. I was concerned, due to the reviews I had read, that the room would smell like smoke and the linens wouldn't be clean. I was assured that the room had just last week been given a deep cleaning, i.e. the carpets were cleaned and room thoroughly cleaned. The walls looked as though they had been freshly painted and it smelled fine. The linens were clean, however the top sheet had seen better days. My only negative comments would be the recliner chair should have been steam cleaned, the bath tub bottom was worn badly and the breakfast bar cupboards looked worn. There was a beautiful tile floor area in the breakfast bar. For the price it was a very good stay. We had room 124.
