Reviews
The hotel has a great location, being within walking distance to the beach and various dining options. However, the reviews are mixed regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms, with some guests reporting issues such as wobbly toilets, water pressure problems, and the need for updates and repairs.
- Great location
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Maintenance issues in rooms
- Parking lot size and availability
- 5/5
The rooms were clean and well equipped. The staff was very nice and helpful. We were able to rent beach chairs, which was an awesome bonus. The property is retro and as advertised. Not fancy and could use some upgrades, but perfect for a budget friendly beach getaway. Great location.
- 2/5
The stay started out well enough, our room was ready when we arrived and there was parking available. A quick review of the room was okay except of the mold on the caulking in the bathroom and peeling paint on the bathroom door. Later that evening we found that the bathroom sink drained very slowly - like hours. The first day we went to the beach most of the day (quick walk which was nice) and came back with no room service. Didn't make a big deal about it, got some towels and went on with our evening. The next day when we came back and our room wasn't touched again my friend went to discuss with the office. She was told that she should have complained the first day but they would be sure to get our room the next day. Our room now had 3 days worth of towels and sand from the beach. On the 3rd day we came back early (like 3ish) and our room still had not been touched. I went to the office and they said we were to get a "Full Service" but they had to get to the rooms with new reservations first. We went to dinner and come back to a room where we had new towels (old towels removed) and the bathroom had been cleaned and the floors mopped (although sand was still visible). The sheets had NOT been changed or the beds remade - so much for their "FULL SERVICE". I would not stay again.
- 4/5
The hotel room was fantastically clean. It was a quiet stay. The room was not as outdated as some. Our room did have some broken features, and there was next to no water pressure. It was a fair trade-off for a great price and a great location. I would stay here again.
- 4/5
We really enjoyed our stay at the Sand Castle. The pool was salt water and very clean. The walk to the beach was short. The location was excellent and in reach of many restaurants and shopping locations. The beds were okay but could use an upgrade. For the price compared to others we really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
The proximity to the beach
- 1/5
This place may have been one of the more heinous places I have ever stayed. Upon opening the door to the room, mold every where, a dead cockroach right by the bed, numerous live cockroaches strolling around, nothing at all had been cleaned and they had the audacity to ask for tips for housekeeping. Thankfully I always bring towels of my own because theirs were covered in hairs, I had to use their towels as rugs as to not collect cockroaches on my toes. This stay ought to be refunded.
- 3/5
The shower was hot, the staff was very friendly, the towels were very clean, and the location was about a 5 minute walk to the beach. The property could really use some updating. There was a huge creak in the shower (about the size of my hand), the faucet was hanging off the wall about an inch and a half, there were large chips in the sink, and the sheets felt extremely cheap. Also, when we were in the pool, there was a strong stench of garbage because the dumpster was right behind the pool.
- 5/5
It’s always a fun place
- 5/5
The Staff was wonderful. It was a good value, great location, clean and very comfortable. No complaints
- 3.5/5
We killed 3 baby roaches the day we were leaving
- 4.5/5
This hotel was a very good value for the money and we will be staying there again on one of our future trips to Tybee. The beds were comfy and they actually gave you nice, fluffy, pillows that were actually large enough. The hotel is older, however, you are within 500 feet of the beach. The rooms were clean, the heat/air worked and kept the room at a comfortable temperature. We were really satisfied overall with everything about the hotel. We were at the beach to be at the beach not live in our hotel.
- 5/5
Parking need some work, short beds
- 5/5
Nothing. It was great!
- 4/5
The room was very clean, staff was very friendly and proficient. Its not a luxury inn, it provides a place to sleep and shower. It needs a little maintenance like shower needed some caulking & sink surface was worn & chipped. Other than that, it was a good place to stay, 3 min walk to the ocean.
- 4/5
Parking is very tight fitting. Ice maker for back rooms doesn’t work have go to front of building to get ice. Toilet made loud running sound when other rooms used theirs. But was close to Shops and Beach. Would stay again. Just needs a little attention to some things.
- 5/5
Very good price. 3 minute walk to the beach. Quiet. Clean. Great staff.
- 4/5
Friendly staff and extremely close walk to the beach. AC/Fan was great and there was no smoke smell in the room, which is very rare nowadays. While the beds and overall room was clean, the rooms could use a type of remodeling as the sink and bathroom were older and slightly broken only temporarily fixed with sealant or new caulk. The door also had a half inch gap which let in alot of light and sounds from outside.
- 4/5
proximity to beach, shopping and restaurants Room furnishings and fixtures.
- 1/5
Property had mold everywhere in the bathroom.
- 5/5
Pretty much everything
- 3.5/5
Back parking really tight but ok It’s close to walking to beach
- 3/5
the location is very close to the pavilion and shopping and dining is so convenient the bed frames .. makes a lot of squeaky sound , microwave needs to get clean and I found a couple at cockroaches at night crawling..
- 4/5
The lock on the door and bathroom door were broken.
- 2/5
The bathroom in the room was not clean. We reported to management the issues we found. There was mold growing on the caulking in the tub. Behind the toilet and door the floor was not clean. There was a large spiderweb behind the door?
- 4/5
Nice and close to the beach
- 2.5/5
The beds where uncomfortable and old and needs improvement
- 5/5
I love how welcoming the front desk was and also how close it was to the beach!!! Walking distance was amazing. N/A
- 5/5
It was one of the best hotels in the area that's for sure!!! Centrally located with everything around it, the sting ray across the street the tryler park restaurant nextdoor and the breakfast club at the end of the block were great but everything is right around it with in a few minute walk. Don't forget Jason at the daiquiri bar which was amazing too. Also can't forget Halo at the Pier 16 restaurant what a meal and great service. The beach is literally right behind the hotel less than 10 minutes to a perfect spot. The Hotel was nice very retro needed a little work but we all do lmao, the pool was great especially being open until 10 so you could do some night swimming and our room was great the bed was comfortable, they gave us enough pillows which I'm always concerned about, the shower was odd and took some getting used too. Overall it was a great stay and I recommend it to anyone.
- 1.5/5
The bed was comfortable. Air conditioner worked great. Shower was hot. Pool was small. Room was old and needs updating. Shower wall was cracked. No amount of cleaning can make the room better. Picture on websites misleading. Not enough parking for guests,.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was great! No real complaints!
- 4/5
I didn’t have time for breakfast. The beach is across the parking lot, so no crossing the street. My only complaint would be about the parking and ice machine not working. Other than that all expectations were met if not over exceeded. The parking was pretty tight. The manager did warn me to keep my spot off I found one. I found one but I couldn’t miss my show just to have a parking spot. I ended up parking on the side of the building when I got back that night. Not that big of a deal
- 0.5/5
The rooms wasn’t up to par
- 3/5
AC unit either stayed on endlessly in Cool mode or barely stayed on at all in Eco mode, so I was either kept awake most the night due to kinda loud fan, or the unit got too warm and stuffy, even as I set temp to 73 and it wasn’t even that warm overnight any night. Kinda wish I could just opened a window.
- 5/5
close to beach
- 3/5
Very dated and not enough parking
- 2/5
Room hardly had any water pressure. There was a big gap under the door and bugs were getting in. Reported it, but nothing was done.
- 5/5
Love the down to earth friendly staff. They treat you like family.
- 5/5
Parking lot was easy and all door close to it
- 4/5
Could use some remodeling, but besises that everything was good.
- 3/5
Potential areas of improvement: AC unit kept shutting off and the room got hot overnight, bathrooms are incredibly small- may want to be cautious if traveling with burly gentlemen
- 3/5
The beds were comfortable the sheets seem to be clean, but the room was very abused and used outdated.
- 5/5
Someone hit my car there didn’t notice it till I got home
- 2/5
Dirty room, sink is not drained, air conditioning is loud
- 5/5
We always stay here when we travel to Tybee. We have tried the other hotel behind Tybee (Hotel Tybee) and we prefer Sandcastle Inn much more. It’s an older hotel as they all are there but it is clean and the staff is top notch. They don’t have an elevator so if you require one definitely ask for handicap accessible room. It’s about a 3 min walk to the beach and it’s very conveniently located walking distance to Tybrisa street. They have an outdoor pool that is well kept as well.
- 4/5
Everything was good, no issues at all.
- 2/5
Parking was tight. Very out of date. It felt like it was straight out of a 60s mobile home. Very unimpressive. Balcony felt like it was going to fall off the building. Other guests were riff raff. They were miserably loud and obnoxious. No peace and quiet. Room was very drafty. We had to listen to the wind whistling through the windows and doors. Definitely wouldn’t stay again.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 1/5
Horrible rooms (yes rooms) our first room clearly didnt get clean before we stayed there and our second room seemed like it was just cleaned to shut us up.
- 5/5
Was very clean!
- 5/5
Nice stay
- 4/5
There is only 1 car per room allowed and the girl at the front desk had no idea where we could park our 2nd vehicle. I feel like she should have been able to direct us to other parking. The hotel is a little aged but the location is great. A 2 minute walk to the beach and restaurants. Air conditioning was a little loud. Bed was comfortable. I would stay here again
- 3/5
Parking spaces extremely narrow. Certainly not standard width. Interior room lghting poor. Either off or extremely bright and harsh. Barhroom exhaust fan makes hideous noise. Toilet does not flush easily. Massively bright pole lights shining directly at window. Blackout curtain not wide enough to block light. Microwave must have been 30 years old.
- 5/5
Clean beautiful room big bed fluffy bedding. Quite nice indeed. Friendly staff who treated us so kindly and accommodated our need for a late check in. We were able to have ease of access to all the things near by. Park you car for the weekend in the hotels lot and walk it's no more three blocks either direction to find things to do and food to eat. The local famous breakfast club is right beside this hotel. It's amazing. We loved everything about our stay and will be back soon.
- 5/5
As for the room, it was super clean and fresh, including the floors, the fridge and microwave. Hot water with good pressure in the shower. Bed was comfy. and best of all, a super short walk to the beach! This is my new favorite place. Thank you Sandcastle! See you guys next week.
- 4/5
Only thing I didn't like the WiFi always was lagging but other than that it was great
- 5/5
Everything was great, the staff was super friendly and the room was so cute.
- 5/5
Kind staff, great location overall and very easy access in and out.
- 1/5
The rooms wasn’t clean I didn’t even want to take a shower because of how disgusting it was but the staff was pretty nice
- 5/5
Clean room great staff great location
- 1/5
It was super musty and air quality was bad
- 1/5
We were not the only customers who got there and immediately checked out for a refund. We drove 5 hours to get there, and because they took so long to resolve the situation there were no other rooms available anywhere and we had to drive back home the same night. Thankfully, the lady working the front desk was extremely accommodating and helpful. She was the only positive in our experience. Do yourself a favor, and don’t stay here. It was nasty. I have no idea why they have 7.2 stars on Travelocity, especially when I looked past the first few reviews they were all as bad, or worse than mine.
- 4/5
The hotel is located close to the beach and the pool is clean and nice. The staff was helpful and courteous. The room is dated.
- 4/5
Staff were friendly and flexible, location was great and ease of booking was on point. They gave us a recommendation for getting around the island and some good restaurants. Worth the value for your stay on Tybee Island, GA!
- 1/5
The toilet didn’t work am instead of giving us a different room we were given the run around for over 2 hours. The rooms aren’t n anything like the picture posted. The bed is hard a crap and absolutely no water pressure. The employees and owner don’t care about customers. I wouldn’t stay here again.
- 5/5
Good
- 3/5
The staff was very courteous and welcoming, so that was very much appreciated. The room itself was just OK. The flooring was nice, and the beds were comfortable. I know you get what you pay for, but the bathroom looked like it was original to the property built decades ago. It is in serious need of renovation. The ceiling above the sink was open, showing decades-old piping and crud.
- 5/5
Quiet stay despite close proximity to local restaurants and shopping. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Its old and dated. It is clean. No breakfast. Staff was friendly. Not handicap accessible.
- 1/5
Horrible
- 5/5
yes and yes
- 4/5
Our first room wasn't as good as we expected, the desk clerk gave us choices of better rooms to move into and apologized. She requested maintenance to take care of it. All staff were friendly and helpful. We stay here yearly. Nice place and location.
- 5/5
room was ad advertised
- 2/5
The refrigerator was so loud we could barely sleep!
- 4/5
Basic but seems popular. Nice staff if needed. Parking right outside room but could be noisy if you’re on ground room. Room comfortable as were the beds. Amenities fridge/micro etc. hot water. pool was not heated & small but in Nov was in shade but chairs were in sun but I was allowed to use their sister hotels heated pool. Close to beach & shops. Price ok for what we got but no breakfast there. Would use again though
- 3/5
Was not clean
- 5/5
This is our go-to. Is it perfect? No. Is it cheap? Yep. We have a room to sleep in and shower in. Thats it. Nothing fancy
- 3/5
Staff was extremely helpful. The location of this building makes it easy to walk to most places. However a non smoking room needs to not smell like smoke. Also the build up on the sink should be addressed before anyone else uses that room. Shower was decent but drained slow.
- 3/5
The front desk lady was nice, the location is good. The hotel is old but seems to be making an effort to update. Our white bed linens were stained yellow in places and had cigarette burns. The air conditioner worked fine, although it was loud and the shower had hot water. Overpriced but that's beach hotels.
- 4/5
Parking and location were great. Hotel was exactly what youd expect for the price. It was clean and sorta updated. Bathrooms could use some work. Staff was prompt and friendly. We were not disappointed.
- 4/5
Needs some work and a bit more cleaning. Floor wasn’t very clean. Needs some updates
- 4/5
Good overall… nothing fancy but ok for rate.
- 3/5
Right at the beach
- 4/5
It was centrally located to the beach, shopping & dining
- 3/5
Close to the beach and restaurants. If you are looking for quiet this isn’t the place. If you are looking to have fun and somewhere to pass out drunk this place will work.
- 2/5
This property was very outdated, the toilet seat was barely on, the toilet was so low to the ground you had to hold onto something to sit down. The baseboard was so old it was coming off. The air conditioners were rusted out and dripping rusty water, ours didnt even cool our room. The bed was a semi thick mattress on a "rock hard" slab foundation. The whole time we were in the room, the smell of pot was drifting in through the ac. It was horrible, we WILL NOT go back. It was a typical 2 star MOTEL, very dirty, overpriced!
- 2/5
This hotel is the crapiest hotel we've ever stayed in! This hotel is in a good location! We walked to restaurants and bars and stores!!!
- 5/5
Older but clean and beach real close
- 1/5
They do not clean your room unless you ask.
- 4/5
This was a great place to just need somewhere to sleep at. Staff was friendly, accommodated early check in, and room was very clean. Only complaint I have is the pool area needs updated pretty bad, it was small. The trash area was right next to it, so it smelled while sitting there. Thankfully we spent majority of the time at the beach.
- 5/5
Clean, staff were friendly. Only negative was there was a hole in the floor tile. Was a tripping hazard since it was in the walk way going toward the sink.
- 2/5
The rooms did not look as they did on line. The bathroom was gross. The toilet was for a child. I have a knee injury and it was very scary! I wanted to checkout as soon as I saw it.
- 2/5
And the desk clerk was very accommodating. The rooms, however, were very outdated. The bathroom was in need of some repair and the air conditioning in our second room continually tripped the electric which requires a move to a different room. The bed linens had stains and hair. The walkways and stairs were filthy. We ended up leaving.
- 5/5
The entire experience was good for us, not the lest of which they allowed us to bring our who was more chilled there than at our home. Everything was in walking distance. A lot to explore and and a lot to enjoy.
- 4/5
Great location front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. Just a few steps from the beach and a variety of restaurants
- 3/5
Air conditioning was not good and keep kicking on and off. Would not cool down the room. Had to go purchase a fan.
- 1/5
Our stay was terrible from the time we entered for check in until we decided not to stay. The room floors was flooded with water my 19 mos old slip and fell on the wet floor bruising her leg the water sinks service was horrible. No compassion for my 19 mos old
- 1/5
I booked to stay at sandcastle inn a month prior to my trip, upon arrival there was an awful smell and after attempting to check in they told me that they had no record of me in the system, they also told me that they had no way to accommodate me. I showed my receipt and proof of purchase and they told me to look for other places to stay. I called Expedia because that’s who I booked through and after Expedia had called them they found out that they had given my room to someone with a similar last name as mine. I was also told they couldn’t refund me due to the manager being absent. I was told that the manager would be there at 8 am the next day. I called the next day and another hotel answered for them and said they wouldn’t be in til 9:30 . We were luckily able to get our refund after a lot of back and forth, however The experience with this hotel was awful.
- 4/5
It is definitely an older property that could use some renovations but it was clean and the staff was excellent. There really aren't many hotel options on Tybee so I would say this is one of the better choices. Very loud older AC unit. Excellent location to the beach and restaurants. We normally rent a condo at the North end of the beach, but if you want to be where the action is, I would recommend staying here.
- 1/5
It has bed bugs it was digusting worst place I’ve ever stayed
- 4/5
Beds were clean and comfortable. Location is great! Our room facing the street was quiet.
- 2/5
Near the beach
- 2/5
First room we got the water was either extremely hot or burn your skin off hot so they moved to stay a couple rooms. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, but for the Location in the price, it was good.
- 5/5
Quick and easy stay for a night. Clean room and spacious enough.
- 5/5
We nice they was friendly.
- 5/5
It was so close to the beach and a short walk to the pier and restaurants. Very quiet and quaint!
- 2/5
Property is just very old and needed updating .
- 4/5
Close and convenient to the beach
- 5/5
Old but clean
- 5/5
Nothing fancy, but met our needs when looking for a place to sleep on Tybee Island. Close to the beach!
- 2/5
Hotel did not look like the pictures at all. I’m sure at one point they looked like that but now they are all beat up and rundown. The bed made an awful noise everytime you touched it. The door looked like it had been kicked in.
- 4/5
Loved how nice the checkout ladies were!! The room did its job, but i feel it needed some tlc, the bathroom could use a makeover. The front door also needed a seal as u could see the outside which caused the air conditioner to run almost non stop. It worked great at least. Again for the price it did its job.
- 2/5
Gross with misleading pics. Staff was great tho and beach was right there
- 4/5
Beds are horrible.
- 5/5
Very conveniently located. Short walk to beach boardwalk and restaurants
- 2/5
Killed the biggest roach I've ever seen. Bathroom is rough. Floor is dirty. Tub faucet wouldn't quit running. Convenient to beach. Ladies at reception were very nice. Pay more and stay somewhere better.
- 4/5
just a decent, clean, hotel that is steps away from the beach. Nothing fancy, but provides a good place to stay while enjoying Tybee Island.
- 2/5
This room was very utilitarian. Showed significant wear and tear. Bathroom door would not close due the the ceiling light being mounted on the wall blocking the door frame. Large gaping hole in the drain. Bed as hard and lumpy. Staff checking in was not friendly at all. Parking is limited.
- 2/5
We had to be moved to another room because of toilet not working and shower curtain falling on us
- 5/5
What an amazing weekend! The location of this place is awesome. We never moved our vehicle, was close walk to everything. The staff was. Amazingly nice! The price was great. Very clean.
- 4/5
Staff was very nice & helpful. Room was fine, as well as the pool. Beach was a little far for me due to my hip & back issues, but we could drive to parking area in back where the walkways to beach are. $4/hour for county parking, so worked out.
- 4/5
Walking distance to the beach was perfect. Front desk clerk was AWESOME, so friendly!
- 4/5
Great location the parking could have been better but all around we enjoyed our stay very much.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a great spot and there's a restaurant across the street for good food. We arrived early (@3p) and our room was clean so we wew allowed to check in. Nice size room but AC was not working. Nice girl from the front desk tried to get it working bit no luck. She graciously moved is to another room and all was good. Hotel is within walking distance of mich of the south end so that's a plus. We checked out before 8a and there was no one around so we called the number on the door and left the key in a box. Not a bad place, just old. Bed was fine and price was good compared to other hotels there. It's a 2 star hotel. Comfortable and quiet.
- 2/5
Very run down hotel with bathrooms in terrible shape.
- 2/5
This building is old and in need of a lot of upgraded
- 3/5
This hotel is great as far as location. Pool area was nice. Rooms were just ok. Double beds seem smaller than a double. Not a great “re-model”. I wouldn’t want to stay multiple nights but for an overnight trip it was fine.
- 4/5
Clean room staff was great walkable to shops and restaurants
- 4/5
The staff were very kind and helpful. The water from the shower and sink had a strange smell, but otherwise the room was very nice and cleanly. Would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Also, the hotel is within walking distance to lots of great restaurants, including a seafood place directly across the street. I'd definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Clean bedding/linens (comfortable), floors, tv, fridge & microwave was nice & AC worked well. Not too noisy. The toilet wasnt anchored properly to the floor. I would recommend a total remodel of the shower & toilet area.
- 3/5
The building is alright. It is within walking distance to the beach. There is a restaurant right across that serves excellent mussels and gumbo! Front desk is helpful. Take note, no elevators.
- 2/5
The location was great. Rooms not as clean as they could be. Low toilets very uncomfortable.
- 5/5
The Sandcastle is a great place and this is where we go every single time we come down to Tybee and where we will continue to go for future trips as well!
- 3/5
Decent one night stay. Close to food, boardwalk and shopping.
- 1/5
.
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet. Friendly staff. Short walk to the beach. I liked it so much I stayed an extra night. We’ll definitely be back!
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Close to restaurants, shops and beach
- 5/5
Excellent experience.
- 5/5
Tammy is amazing
- 5/5
Very friendly staff
- 2/5
Spent 5 nights and they never swept or cleaned the floor. No housekeeping was done. We had to go get fresh towels when we ran out. Sand on the floors and the pool was dirty.
- 4/5
.
- 3/5
Overall a good place to stay at the price point and location to the beach ⛱️
- 1/5
Avoid this hotel
- 4/5
Enjoyed our stay. Thank you
- 5/5
Room is clean, comfortable, and quiet, though could use some maintenance. Staff is friendly and helpful. Coffee in room is pathetic.
- 3/5
Negatives- key card didnt work. Had to drag out big machine from the 90s to fix it. Paint peeling off bathroom door. Plumbing issues- had to get plunger to unclog the toilet and shower. Low water pressure. Old style hard spring beds like college dorms or worse. Bring your own pillows. Microwave blew up- went POP and didnt cook. They had to bring a new one and it did cold spots and burnt others. Fridge had to be turned on. Old shower curtain. Air can only be 72 degrees- old wall unit. Dim lighting in bathroom/vanity area. This would be great for teens or young 20s on a budget but for olders or injuries this is a no. Will not be back. Staff and location are the only 2 saving graces.
- 5/5
Im very happy with my stay. Everything was smooth n friendly staff. We alway come back.
- 4/5
Shower/tub needed a bath mat on bottom of tub. Could use some safety handrails in the tub.
- 4/5
Property is dated. Staff price and location excellent?
- 3/5
Property is dated and room just needs a little paint. Location and price is excellent!
- 4/5
Everything was fine. the only problem was at check in our room was not ready but they up graded to another room
- 3/5
Last minute trip and you get what you pay for. Not bad, but, surrounded by potheads. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Just an old motel and you can tell.
- 5/5
Great stay! Will book again!
- 5/5
Everyone was very nice. Very close to the beach
- 5/5
Ok
- 1/5
The pictures on the website did not reflect the property at all. The bathrooms were dirty, it smelled bad in the room and was not a good place to sleep.
- 5/5
Very affordable hotel. Amenities were in line with what you would expect for the price
- 4/5
room was out dated visible damage on the room door
- 5/5
Greater and comfortable stay
- 5/5
all good
- 5/5
This was our second time staying at the Sandcastle Inn. We have enjoyed our stays. The only down side is if you have two vehicles when they are full, you have to park one somewhere else. For us it wasn’t a problem because of all the parking on the streets and it’s walking distance to the beach (which has parking)
- 1/5
Pictures didn’t match. Dirty bathrooms, old very outdated, tv remote didn’t work. It was nasty
- 2/5
If a very basic room is needed - this would be the place.
- 3/5
The room was a smoking room, but could have used some detailed cleaning. The lady in office said she would come clean, but we didn't want any one in room. Cleaned it up myself. Lady in office was great
- 5/5
It is an older hotel but they keep it clean. Walking distance to the pier, all of the shops and dining. A great little breakfast spot right in front of the hotel And amazing little ice cream shop also right in front of the hotel!
- 1/5
No one available to check in/out.
- 5/5
The room was a little run down, but it was nice, and very clean.
- 3/5
Property itself was worn down, but it was right by the beach, the area felt safe, and the staff was nice!
- 2/5
Although the hotel had an atmsphere of days gone by, the rooms showed that as well. Very much in need of updates. Rates were comparable to updated rooms, but without the updates. Door was about to break, and room smelled moldy.
- 5/5
Well maintained renovated older beach motel. We enjoyed it.
- 5/5
The beds were hard
- 5/5
Great location & price, staff was friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very cute place!

The Sandcastle Inn was not a great experience on Tybee. Though the staff were friendly, the low cost attracted a poor clientele. Between drunken parties, big loud dogs, and the cops banging on a room door at 7:30am, I can't recommend the establishment. Further, I found a few bugs in the bathroom and on the bed. Plus, I couldn't make it the first day of my reservation, but was charged for it anyway. Just a heads up to all tempted by the low price. You'll get what you pay for at this location.

Needs to be updated. But in a good location.

Stayed 3 nights off-season (March) and was perfectly happy with the Sandcastle when considering price/amenities ratio. It's not a fancy hotel, but met our needs just fine at a good price compared to other options on Tybee. Super-convenient location that is walkable to just about everything, including numerous restaurants, the "main" street stores and dining/bars, and the beach (a block or so away). Room was basic but fine, clearly an older motel that has been somewhat (but not totally) updated. Our only real complaint was noise from the street, but that's probably an issue with other hotels on that street as well. If you are a light sleeper you may want to bring earplugs or run the HVAC fan all night as we did, which made it fine.

Small room, but clean and comfortable. Close to the beach. Quiet (except for some traffic)

Melenda at the front desk was super helpful. We loved the room very spacious. Bed was extremely comfortable excellent shower with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. We will definitely be back!

I cannot believe I paid to stay here. For reference, I come to Tybee every year at this time. This is the worst trip I have ever taken; truly a disappointment. For starters, the office was closed and I had to go to a different office upon check in. The attendant at the office was less than cheery, we’ll just leave it at that. When I got to my physical room, I was shocked at the state of the room. It looks nothing like the photos (kudos to the photographer). The floor was filthy, the baseboards were broken, cracked, and falling off the walls, the sink was absolutely disgusting, the bathroom tile was cracked, and if you told me someone was murdered in the tub in 1982, I would believe you. The toilet didn’t properly flush, and it ran all night no matter what I did. The beds were far from comfortable, the sheets were thin, the air conditioning didn’t work well, the door didn’t seal and didn’t lock unless it was half open… very secure feeling for two women traveling alone. I wouldn’t stay here again if the room was offered for free, I pray someone reads this and it saves them the money I wish I would have saved myself. The only positive is the 7 channels and wifi work, and I didn’t *see* any bugs. Take that for what you will…

We just came to Savannah for one night for a quick birthday /Christmas shopping trip. What a great find Sandcastle Inn is!!!!! The receptionists were so nice both on check in and check out. The room was very clean with a great tv with apps already on it so you don't need to bring a Roku. The beds were comfortable and the shower was very hot with great water pressure. It is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and it is right there at the pier. We were there in December so it was too cold to swim but it had the cutest little pool that looked very clean. We will definitely stay here again the next time we go to Savannah.

Close to everything and walkable to beach and pier.

It was very dated and run down. Poor sound insulation and we heard loud music until 1am. No one at the front desk cared
- 3/5
Property definitely needs some updating, but we didn’t pay too much for the stay. Double room and one mattress had no springs…sunk to the platform. The walls must he paper thin as we heard our neighbors until the middle of the night. Air con was terrible and loud. It stopped working in the middle of the night and had to have the TV volume up way too loud just to hear.

Whether was ok, but the stay was great.

The pool was so cold like a freezee. Was able to get in up to my waist at least. The ocean water was much better than the pool

Staff was amazing. Very very friendly and helpful. Rooms have been updated. We only slept and showered there. Super walkable to beach, restaurants and shops. We would stay there again.

Everything was good except they need to touch up paint and bathrooms.

What I DESPISE is all the 'understanding' AI responses claiming that they care and will fix the issues. They don't. They won't. The AC still doesn't work well. The toilet is still wobbly. The TV is confusing to use. The floors are kinda dirty. No matter how many reviews mention these things and how many times the AI "understands" the problem and promises to correct it... the AC still won't work. The toilet will still wobble. The floors will still be dirty. It's a budget beach hotel. It's OK. If you are picky, you won't like it. Also, you have to turn the AC down to 60' to get it to work at all. I think it's offset by 10' to try and get people not to use it. Set it to 60', you'll get 70' and it's comfortable.

Our overall experience was very good. The staff was friendly. There were no issues checking in or out. Housekeeping came around daily and asked if we needed towels or anything. The room was one of the renovated ones so it was nice and clean and smelled clean. The bathroom was a little dated still and the toilet was wobbly and the toilet paper was not great. One bed was more comfortable than the other. The room did come with complimentary toiletries like soap, lotion, shampoos/conditioner, and makeup wipes. The fridge, microwave, and ac worked. It was in a great location close to restaurants and the beach. We would stay there again.

Everything was good. The bed isn’t that comfortable. It close to everything, walking distance to the beach.

The staff was nice and helpful. The room was good except the sink didnt work good barely any water and no hot water. Parking wasnt great didnt hardly go any where because you loose your spot so had to walk mostly.
- 3/5
Could have been alittle cleaner. 3 bath towels, 1 hand towel and 1 washcloth is not enough for afamily of 4. Also the room needed alittle bit of tlc.
- 5/5
Had a good overall experience

Room floors were so nasty, you could not walk barefoot or your feet would be black. Its a cheap motel with a high cost. Room smelled like vomit. Beds and pillows were uncomfortable and saw a roach within 2 minutes of being in the room. Will not be staying here again.

My husband and I just had a quick weekend away for the 3rd time in 14 years. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. This is our second stay here. We love the convenience of the beach and the restaurants. Nothing fancy but it had everything we needed. We will definitely stay again.

My only issue was that the TV remote would not control the volume on the TV. I had just checked in and the desk clerk came to my room to check it out. Instead of moving me to another room, and there were plenty, she told me that I would have to get out of bed and adjust the volume manually. In my mind, she should have offered me another room. Not a bign deal, but strange.
