Old hotel but renovated. The room was clean. Furniture had scratches. Pool was small. Beds were hard. Bathroom was updated. Great access to the boardwalk and beach!!! They let us stay parked there after checkout, long as we left before new checkins began.

Please note that if you are getting a room with a kitchen, they were not kidding... they only provide the kitchen, no other kitchen necessities. You must bring your own pots and pans, dishes, utensils, Etc. Good experience overall. Only a block and a half from the beach, and only about 5 minutes to the convention center.

The houseman, was very attentive to our requests and the location was absolutely perfect! I can’t wait to stay here again!

When we got into our room the was poop smeared on the toilet, gum on the curtain , black mold in the mini fridge and the microwave was filthy nasty . This hotel was not worth the price at all.

No, there was a constant beeping I assume from a fire alarm that disallowed me to sleep BOTH nights, the room was super dirty, a bug crawled out of the bed sheets when I pulled it back-the worst $500 for two rooms two nights I have EVER spent-and we were working hard, not vacationing, so we needed the rest and were partying so hard we could deal with the gross and beeping noise!!!

Reasonable price. It was good for the price. The only interesting thing that happened was that on the first night I went to the reception and asked if they had slippers. He said, "Is this a 5-star hotel that we should give you slippers?" and I laughed and went to my room.

Drug dealing in the parking lot.. the pool was closed.. kitchenette had no silverware pots or pans.. our air conditioner didn't work and had to argue to get our room changed.. dirty room with bugs in the sink will never return

Listen it is what it is. I wasn’t booking a five star hotel. It was spacious, clean and I felt safe. Plenty of restaurants and even a supermarket just blocks away. There really wasn’t much to not like. They need to be updated but that will kill the value of the stay.

The property was fine however the locks on the door were broken and the staff was a bit difficult at times but still nice.

Dirty and dated does not being to describe this facility. Sketchy is an understatement!! Checked into first room but bathroom did not work. After 30 minutes, was moved to a second room filled with weed smoke and filthy. Asked to cancel reservation but hotel refused since booked through Expedia. Could not get a representative from Expedia, only automated system. Hotel showed three more rooms (including dirty ones that had been uncleaned from previous guests). Chose the best one possible for a quick slumber due to having been up for almost 24 hrs. Checked out after a quick nap and booked in Kitty Hawk as it was only an hr and half away. Working through our trip insurance to get refunded!

the tv would not work i told owner and he sent someone to look at it and they told me there was nothing they could do he offered 2 hr later checkout that i didnt need very upsetting this was my go to motel but now will think twice

Not a bad little Hotel, nothing fancy at all , but very convenient to the beach and cheap close to beach front shops great for a little stepping out ( wink wink) very tucked away and private will stay again.

this hotel is better than i expected it looks nicer on the inside than the outside. rooms were great and bathroom was good & hot water. bed was comfortable but i would recommend bringing your own blanket. had to wait a little bit for room to be ready because i booked a little late in the day but they gave me a good room so i didnt mind.

The outside of the hotel definitely looks better than the inside of the rooms….. The rooms don’t actually get cleaned, left over toilet paper from previous guests and trash behind beds. Floors dirty and tables with residue from previous guests. Tv didn’t work and smoke detector chirped.

The location was great to be able to go to the beach without worrying about parking. Well, first, I reserved a 2 queen size room with a kitchenette. The picture of the room was not at all what the room looked like and had no oven or kitchenware. I was very disappointed that there was no stove with an oven. We planned to cook in, instead of eating out. Second, the beds and pillows were so uncomfortable. We left with hurt backs and necks. The one bed was so noisy every time you moved in it. Third, the ice machine was right next to our room, so it kept us up most nights. The walls were so thin that we continued to hear the ice machine and the aircrafts from the military base.

When I arrived the bathroom had previous visitor hair in the bathtub and sink. I had to purchase cleaner and clean it.

A little dated but fine. The soap in the dispenser at the bath was depleted. All was clean and sufficient.

It was a clean room. Didn’t see any staff except to check in. Would have liked to have some regular soap and shampoo. Parking was hard in the garage area for big suburban.

I had a room on the second floor. The elevator was great because I am handicapped and I had a great view. I will definitely come back.

I liked the proximity to the beach. The AC worked well. The water flow in the bathroom sink was slow. I won't criticize the housekeeping staffperson who was on duty when we arrived and working on Monday because she is elderly and a strong language barrier exists. She clearly wanted to give good service. Perhaps I assumed there would be clean towels brought daily but that wasn't included in the services. She came and changed the bed linens very quickly the day we asked. We would stay there again.

Room barely acceptable. Door had been kicked and bent and had a gap that a snake or bugs could get in. Very poor state of repair. The toilet paper holder was hanging off the wall. Beds so squeaky hard to sleep. Tv remotes.. yes one that changed volume and the other to change channels. barely worked if you got up and got within 5 ft of the tv. No cleaning services, as would be expected in any hotel. We had to go to the office to get fresh towels. We asked about someone cleaning the room and they literally handed my wife a broom. For 180 a night we certainly expected more. They did have a kitchenette but no pots and pans.

We had a non-smoking room and there were cigarette burns in the blankets on our beds. We had to ask for extra blankets and complained about the noise level. The refrigerator door didn’t have a handle. We got the kitchenette but there were no pans. The sheets on the beds were dirty. The kitchen was dirty and the lamps were filthy.

Hotel location and size was ideal. Great pool and family business and they provide delicious juice, water, however the rooms were not very clean and the older family member threatened to call the police because my 5yr old granddaughter tried to go to their pool after we checked out and were packing our vehicles.

Staff was less than accommodating after calling me to ask what time I would be arriving, which I found very odd. Would not recommend staying here to anyone. Beds are uncomfortable, noise is excessive and rooms are extremely small. We will not be staying here again. Waste of money , just for an overnight stay . Very disappointed

Had to book this place last minute after an emergency occurred at our previous hotel. I have nothing but good things to say about this place! Conveniently located near the beach, the rooms were clean, the staff was super sweet and we felt very safe staying here. Traveled with my family. 10/10 would recommend.

There was some pieces of food on the bed. The carpet is very very dirty. There was dust and stains all over the tables, and chair. It seems the room was never vacuumed and cleaned. Overall not satisfied.

No trash can, toilet ran all night and didnt flush. Tub didnt drain, horrible water pressure. Bed had sheets and a tiny bed spread, no blanket.. Fair price, but otherwise not a good stay!

Excrement! Whoever including The City of Virginia Beach is irresponsible for allowing this property to remain open for business. It is the filithiest structure I've ever entered in my 60 year lifetime. It's obvious this property has managed to avoid inspection and being shutdown. In addition, this property charges an additonal $10.00 per night surchange in addition to the room rate for what they describe as "PROPERTY FEE". Per Live Chat with Expedia Rep., I was told it's a "RESORT FEE"! What was an Expedia advertised $51/night rate including taxes and fees turned into my account being an equivalent of $65/night. I am now staying at the Howard Johnson's Wyndham Hotel on Virginia Beach, VA Oceanfront. The rate after taxes and fees is $51/night less the excrement, discourteous staff, and unsafe loud noisy and smoked filled environment! Burned once not twice. Bye bye BLUE MARLIN.

It was a very nice stay for a short stay I will say I was unimpressed with how the bathroom cleaning was and headboards of beds but otherwise everything looked ok and another thing the blankets on the bed were so thin it was like a sheet then a comforter

It was awesome! The room was clean and nice. The beach is less than a block away. The service reception is excellent. I will definitely return next year. I highly recommend it.

Suprisingly i enjoyed my stay i aczually was able to see the ocean from outsude my door standing on the balcany, the owners were very pleasant and nice and i had my own private parking in the parking lot inside underneath the hotel wich was safe quiet room and pretty awesome

Outdated, but I’ve stayed in worse. Not the cleanest, but not especially UN clean either. Here for the marathon, so it is acceptable, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here during a longer vacation.

The staff is fantastic; super easy to work with, pleasant, professional and accommodating. I’ve checked in late, left early, checked in early, left late, because my business requires it. The Blue Marlin staff works with these constraints superbly.

While the physical aspect of the property is wonderful, it’s the owner and her staff that really light this place up. They bring a beautiful family like atmosphere to the hotel.

The room was out dated the sheets had a yellow stain and hair on one bed and you had to get up right next to the TV to operate it.and the room smelled badly.

When I go to the office and ask about internet service the man who was in charge he answered me like mad and bad attitude the room had patches where they were repaired and it was not finished and the tv didn’t work the elevator looks like long time not been cleaned

Only 1 person at the check in desk. No parking available, the desk attended ask us to double park. The room was no clean and toilet wasnt working. We observed the porter also dose the housekeeping. The floor in the rooms look as they haven't been cleaned all summer. A/C air conditioning had a musty smell. Pretty sure the filter has ever been replaced. You get what you pay for. Location is good, this motel should be reported to the health inspector

Upon arrival, we had to go look for someone to check us in. When we got to our rooms they were filthy, there was some long black hair on the bathroom shower wall. Our room was NEVER cleaned during our stay. We ran out of toilet paper. We had a room with 4 people booked in advance and they got 2 towels. You couldn't tell who worked there because they didn't even have shirts identifying themselves. We will NEVER go back there no matter how much money we save. It's not worth it. I even paid more than twice what i did 2 weeks prior at a Wyndham in Orlando!

I’ve stayed here a few times. It’s a block from the beach which is nice. BUT, the quoted price on Expedia is not the price you pay. I paid over $300 more than what was quoted. At the desk, I was told that I got “a big room”, “one of the best rooms” with a view of the ocean. The latter was true, but going back to my earlier statement, I’ve been there a few times. Every room in the “outbuilding” is exactly the same. Housekeeping is non existent, and when I asked for turndown, I was told to go find the housekeeper myself. I booked The Blue Marlin only because I had stayed there before and it was familiar and somewhat centrally located. But the next time I spend $300 more, it’ll be somewhere else.

We never want to stay there again couldn't sleep it smelled it had water bugs the bathroom was horrible the microwave and the mini fridge was dirty. My family and i never slept we sit up all night and never turned the lights off if u think I'm lying i have pictures to prove it I wish we can get our money back cause that place ain't right at all they need to remodel it or something

The room was nothing like the pictures. The tub was disgusting, the clothing bar was out of the wall and couldn’t be utilized, there was water all over the floor, door didn’t shut right, not to mention there were homeless people camped out next to where you park your car. Needless to say we did NOT stay there.

The manager Teresita at the front desk was a great manager. I saw her how she managed and fair to her guess. She takes action and care for her customers. She gave us parking doing back to back for both car to accommodate us and showed care for her guest. HORRIBLE!! Dirty everywhere, sheets, walls, amenities, floor. Trash on floor and in the drawers. Room smelled very old and filthy. This was the first room? Now the second room was the same way but it smelled better and there was a large hole in bathroom door. Hair in the sink. The guy that checked me in was rude and kept tossing the keys on the counter to me and was being rude because asked for a refund which he denied because his property was disgusting. He told me that no one else complains and I told him that I live like this at home so I’m not comfortable. I didn’t even stay in the room. I left after an hour of checking in. I just couldn’t lay down. This place is ran down, old, dirty. Do not book this place.

Majority of the electrical outlets were loose and could push into the wall- a major fire hazard. Prayed the room would not catch on fire while I slept. Broken shower rod and toilet paper dispenser and tried to be cheaply fixed. Towels were water thin. Hotel is better off telling guests to provide their own sheets and towels. Staff at check in was rude. I would not stay here again.

If you like a filthy room, plaster peeling off the ceiling and paint chips from the wall falling on the floor which they don’t bother sweeping up before you get there and rusty bathroom light fixtures, a bathroom ceiling fan that has more hair on it than you do on your head, and uncomfortable beds, then this is the place for you.

The property is called the Blue Marlin Hotel. The listing and the pics were beyond misleading. Not a place I would’ve brought my children to.

The service was fine but the rooms need major updating. I requested a non-smoking room and it smelled like it was all smoking. Moldy and musty smell... showers could use a good disinfectant cleaning, mold remover from the tiles, sweeping is needed, under the bed was dirty, walls looked abused and dirty... well... last time i will stay there.

Check 8n was ok, very frendly. Room was stocjed & clean BYT on way to get to room There's an alley that is pitch black only 1 way in & out because other side is fenced off it was very scary anyone could've been hiding there waiting to attack...elevator tok forever so had to use stairs & my dor to room didnt lock all the way... i ended up checkng out after pnly 2 hours because i didn't feel safe at all.

You are not going to get better for the price point. You will not be dissapointed. The bathrooms are more recently remodeled, the place was clean and kept up to date through the years. Stay in they tower, which is approximately 5 stories, you can see the ocean from the third floor. Lastly, you are one small block from the boardwalk and ocean.

First room wasn’t clean. Next room, the shower on the 4th floor didn’t drain well at all. There were lots of bugs. Needs a better cleaning but for $65 dollars, not sure I could expect much more.

For starters, the front desk attendant is a complete scam artist who will try to upsale you on anything. He barely speaks English and you can’t understand a word he says. Even though I had already paid for my room through Expedia, he charged me an additional fee, double from what he tried to upsell me on in the first place. When we got to our room, that was claimed to have an “ocean view” we soon found out that our view was of nothing but an ugly rooftop of the building next to it…we certainly could not “see de ocean” the entire floor smelled like straight marijuana, and the floor was never vacuumed. The beds were rock hard with filthy linens. The comforter or bed spread was nothing but a thin piece of fabric, there’s no coffee maker in the room and the noise is terrible. We could hear everything going on in the building. Parking is terrible, guests were double parked. And finally, we had COCKROACHES in our room! When we lifted the mattress up, because anyone with common sense knows cockroaches come for food, we found old Chinese food under the bed! Absolutely disgusted. When we went back to the front desk to notify them of the disaster in our room there was no one to be found. The door was locked with a small bucket sitting out front that said, “return room key here”…for anyone to just grab. Obviously they do not have 24 hour service. There’s so much more to the rest of this review but since my words are limited, all I can say is SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN and remove the listing.

The beds are horrible, you can see through the door, bath tub was clogged up, had to ask for towels. The rooms really need to be upgraded. This place charges for kids and they always walking around and staring at you like you gonna steal something. The parking is horrible as well. Definitely will be my last stay there.

Disappointed in expedia for their non response to questioning the fee. The place is a dump, and if I wanted to pat $225 for one night, I would have stayed in a beachfront hotel 1 block away. Will never stay at this property again and have serious reservations about expedia costomer service.
