    I understand that an economy hotel won’t be luxurious, but basic cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service should still be expected. Unfortunately, this stay missed the mark in almost every category. We were charged an additional $6 service fee just to receive our room key on top of a nearly $188 room rate, which felt excessive considering the overall condition of the property. Upon entering the room, it was immediately obvious that housekeeping and maintenance had been neglected. The bathroom floor had visible hair and dirt, and the washcloths provided were stained. There was only one set of towels in a room with a king-size bed, and only two standard pillows were supplied. The bathroom itself was in poor condition. The bathtub faucet leaked continuously, there appeared to be old grime and possible mold around the door trim and tile edges, and the bathroom door was cracked and damaged. Several areas throughout the room showed deferred maintenance, including damaged tile around the hot tub plumbing and worn finishes. One of the more unusual features was the presence of small disco balls hanging over the in-room hot tub, which gave the room an odd atmosphere rather than the relaxing experience we expected. The television remote was broken to the point that the TV could not be properly turned off or controlled. Small details like this add up and make the room feel uncared for. Customer service was equally disappointing. There was no one in the office when we arrived, requiring us to call a phone number posted on the window to check in. Both employees we interacted with were unhelpful and unfriendly. We were also told we couldn’t check in early because the room “wasn’t ready,” which was difficult to understand after seeing its condition. Finally, the overall environment around the property made us uncomfortable.

    My experience at this hotel was very disappointing. The property was in poor hygienic condition, and I found cockroaches on the premises, which is unacceptable for any lodging establishment. Additionally, the customer service was unsatisfactory, and there were no towels provided in the room upon arrival.they overcharged 25 for service fee when I was there

    I did not like anything about the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Virginia Beach Norfolk I booked two rooms for me and my family for my son’s graduation and was HIGHLY disappointed. For starters my king room’s AC was not working upon arrival. When my husband tried to turn it on the front panel fell off. We contacted the front desk and was told that the maintenance man would fix it. It took an hour and we were sweating profusely. While the AC was being fixed we discovered that the shower knob on our double bed room was broken and lying in the bathtub. There was only one towel and rag that was already used ! Will insert pics. Realized that the shower knob in the king room was broken && lying in the tub as well so we contacted the front office again. They came and stuck the knob on and apparently found the situation laughable. It fell off again. King bed room had NO RAGS and 3 towels. Front office receptionist was very nasty throughout the entire situation and when I requested my my money back I was told, “You can try!” Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The front office smells like cigarettes and marijuana. People are just hanging around outside. This was a ghetto experience that I wish I didn’t have to deal with. My husband, my kids and I are extremely unhappy. Also there are holes all over the comforter. Please find another hotel. Any one is better than this.

    The room was dirty when I got there, we didn’t get any housekeeping services, the bathroom was so disgusting and at check in they charged me 10 dollars per night for the bathrooms and I didn’t get a towel or toilet paper. The pillows got a cigarette smell. Somebody hit my car in the parking lot. Everything was just terrible I do not recommend it at all. If you try to go out of the room and get some fresh air the only thing you will get it’s weed smell.

    - The floor was covered in paint marks. - The hot water in the shower was 50% to work. - The toilet ran after every flush (I had to fix it or go crazy) - the security chain was "secured" by bolts that could be pulled out my hand. - bathroom door didnt close flush - toilet paper dispenser didnt latch - room was not serviced once in 3 days - room key stopped working and had to be reset - wifi disconnected at random usually once every 10 minutes Overall, I thought I was being pranked because just when I thought it couldnt get worse the shower wouldnt give hot water. After my cold shower, I checked out and went somewhere else.

    I originally booked a smoking room with the hot tub for my birthday. When I checked in I was charged a $20 fee. Mind you I paid online. when I got to the room the lights didn’t work. The tv didn’t work. The hot tub was gross. The bathtub had a puddle of dirty water with a slow drip. The floor hadn’t been swept. So I went to get another room. I had to settle for a room without a hot tub. And even THAT room was dirty. The bed was filthy under the sheets. The floor hadn’t been cleaned. There was one towel. I asked for fresh towels and never got them. And it was dirty. The phone didn’t work. The tv worked but the remote didn’t even belong to that room and when I finally got the right one there was no cable. like what is going on. Worst experience

    Man listen. When I first walked into the room everything seemed okay. The bed was clean and made, AC and heated worked good. The hot tub, trash; the jets in the tub were not working properly and the tub had debris residue! I only had one towel which was for the tub in the bathroom. No washcloths, no towels not even a trash can was in the room. To top of off, in one of the dressers, someone left a nasty sex toy VERY unsanitary!! I was very upset I had to keep leaving my room just to tell front desk what's going on in the cold rain at that. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this room at all and it's only ONE ROOM in the hotel that offers a hot tub! Smh never again

    Staff was lovely and accommodating! King room is spacious. Microwave and fridge were clean. AC cooled room quickly. Bed was comfortable. I'd recommend bringing your own blanket (as an avid hotel stayer, this is something I always do) & I'd also advise slippers as the hardwoods attract every speck of dirt or dust. I will certainly stay again. Be weary of the efficiencies... Ask if you can have a different room if it isn't up to your standards. I've never had an issue with the staff or other.

    Only thing that made it worth staying is the fact that its 3 minutes away from my job Staff never came to give me fresh towels or rags. There were roaches in my room. Also when I first got in here my top sheet had dried blood stains I made a compliant that same night and the next two days and no one came to take it away but I did get gloves and removed both sheets and blanket and brought my own from the Walmart 8 minutes away.

    Absolutely nothing My door had a hole through the electric lock, there were barely any sheetz on my bed, the website said breakfast included but this place offers nothing of the sort like why put it there if you're just gonna say of course not. Everytime i went to the office there was no one there and i had to call to get any response and even then barely any info on what to do to check in or out. Every door in my room wouldnt close and everything had been painted over. The room smelled of fresh paint the entire time but there was no wet paint.

    Would definitely not recommend staying here. I stayed here for the price and I should’ve just paid more to stay somewhere else. I even checked out early and they REFUSED to give me a refund for the days I didn’t stay! If you do stay here be prepared. Floors were awfully dirty, even the non smoking rooms smell like smoke.     I checked in the room. The room was dirty, but after driving all day and being tired. I decided on a shower. The towels were dirty. I requested clean towels to take a shower. Again the bathroom could've use a cleaning. When trying to relax, I noticed a stank smell I looked around and found days old food and trash. This was a serious health hazard that should have been addressed. When I addressed with the front desk. The attendant stated that the I was lying that the garbage didn't come from the room. Who the hell travels around with nasty rotted food to plant in a hotel. Side note someone appeared to also be arguing with him later on over the same type of dirty thing.

    I made a reservation for myself and my partner. My name was on the reservation, but I put a note that my partner (including their name) was going to arrive first to check in and that I was arriving after hours. I also called several times to try to tell them this, but they never answered the phone. When my partner arrived they would not let her check in because she was not the primary name on the reservation, and she could not wait for me because I was arriving after hours and they wouldn't allow it. She had to go to a different hotel and get another room for us because the Econolodge essentially refused to let us check in. Because it was day-of they would not provide a refund, so we had to pay for the room that they would not let us check into. The customer service in follow-up to try to fix the situation, was also terrible.

    Checking in they told me my room was canceled because hotel.com charge me in advance when I signed up to pay the day of check-in, but my room was gone and my whole reservation was canceled. Which I don’t understand if you select will pay at check-in to sanitize my whole room, went out to Walmart and purchased cleaners because it didn’t smell good and feel clean to me disinfect bleach. All of that the tiles were horrible and dingy and dirty pillowcases didn’t match. Cigarette holes in the top covers sheets were not clean. And I did not like the size surroundings. A lot of people hanging around little sketchy to me. I held my purse close.

    It would have been a perfectly lovely stay EXCEPT as we were getting there and we were standing at the counter waiting to check in, one of the employees was having a very loud, profanity filled argument with somebody on her phone, and it was so loud that the guy trying to check us in couldn't really hear us over her screaming. So we had to wait until she finished her conversation and was done storming around and slamming things in order to finish checking in and it was excruciatingly uncomfortable.. That said, the room was so much nicer than what we were expecting, so life is a balance.

    when i checked in they charged me an extra $6 with no explanation why; when i get to the room the front door did not close properly; flush against the side; there was a draft coming into the room; the sheets and the mattress had cigarette burns and stains; thankfully i was only there one night; i would never stay here again

    We didn't even stay. Walked in our room and walked right back out. Ripped up furniture. Sticky slick floors. Stain on linen. Hole in floor. Smell bad. Couldn't breath in the room. Bathroom in poor condition. Not a comfortable stay at all. Pictures on website misleading. Trap hotel is more like it. Elevator broken. Door will close on you and you luggage. They wouldn't even give me a refund. Had to find other accommodations.

    we went to check in and they wanted to charge me for fees i already paid even after showing them it was paid as in standing there you could see all the security and there was some really shady things happen there i probable lost my money back i sure wasn't staying there.

    I was refused a refund from the manager when the hot tub began to leak .The entire floor was flooded and my guests cut her foot once it flooded. I will be posting pictures, and video of the manger on site. Also, will contact your corporate offices soon

    I was charged twice for the room, It seemed like half of the people there lived there year round or months at a time, very noisy, rooms weren’t clean properly, beds were old, towels looked like they were years old.

    This was the absolute worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at! The office had a terrible odor when you walk in. They try to charge you an extra $20 if you have more than 1 vehicle. When I got to my room, it was a struggle to get the door open, but as soon as I opened the door I was hit with an overwhelming smell of weed. I had booked a non smoking room that was clearly not what I ended up with. The tv was already on & the remote was on the dresser, missing a bunch of buttons. The dressers were missing drawers. There was no iron or ironing board, or even a blow dryer. The cleanest thing in the entire room was the counter top for the sink & even that was dirty. The stopper in the sink wouldn’t stay up. The toilet paper holder was broken. There was dirt all over the walls & what appeared to be spider webs under the ac unit, which was also falling apart & super loud. The first night the neighbor above me was pacing back & forth in their room with a heavy stomp for hours. Making it impossible to fall asleep. The second night a fight broke out between a man & a woman & you could hear them screaming & shoving each other around into the walls & furniture. Also the keys wouldn’t work on the second day. After going through all the reviews on this place, it was clear that if I tried to talk to the office, they wouldn’t do anything about any of the issues, & they won’t give me my money back. Do your research before making a decision about staying here! Worst place ever!!

    Staff was friendly at check in. The property was reasonably quiet and close to restaurants. I must note that I was asked to pay additional $48 for taxes even though the app calculated tax upon booking. Not such a great deal after all. I will not return for that specific reason.

    The hotel was horrible. The room was dirty. The bedding wasn’t clean. We slept in our clothes because the sheets were stained. The room smelled bad. I tried to leave but they were going to charge me whether I stayed or not. The manager was extremely rude.

    Do not stay here. The area is unsafe and we were informed by many locals that the police respond to calls at this location for a multitude of illegal activities. The pictures were not accurate of the state of the room. We booked a non-smoking room and it wreaked of smoke when we arrived. There were cobwebs in the corners and the place looked in need of major maintenance and repairs. We immediately left upon arriving and booked a place 5 mins away that was much nicer. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

    If I could give negative points, I would. The area was full of seedy people and front desk area smelled like a swamp from the unkempt and undersized turtle tank. When checking in, the front desk person rushed me though the electronic signing of waivers and wouldn't even let me read them. They then charged me $8 for something that they never fully explained. I had booked a non-smoking room, but the room they put me in reeked of cigarettes and had burn marks on the beds, carpet, and in the bathtub, for some reason. When I entered the room, a giant cockroach greeted me and my family. We immediately went back to the front office and asked for a refund, but got nothing in return except for dirty looks and an order to get my refund though Expedia. When an Expedia representative called them to help me sort things out, they got angry with her and wouldn't let her speak to the manager, so she had to pass the issue along to someone else. Still no resolution.

    Room was clean, and that's about the extent of the positives. Deadbolt didn't work, no alarm clock. TV was on when I entered and it took a bit to find the remote to turn it off, as I don't watch TV. My biggest issue was that my room key stopped working the night before my check-out date. No apology from the desk clerk. Not sure I'd ever stay here again.

    The property was ok but the staff was rude!! I arriced at 2:30 pm after driving 2 1/2 hours. The guy ummediately said "check in isnt until.4 pm". I said Expedia said check in was at 2pm. He didnt apologize he just continued to check me in. He then charged me a $8 resort fee that i was unaware of. They were overall rude staff.

    The room was adequate until I did not have hot water on my 2nd (last) morning there. I called the front desk at 8 am, somebody came and confirmed that the hot water was not working, and told me they'd call maintenance. I waited until 11 am, but had to leave for a 12 hour drive in the 100° heat without showering. They were completely unapologetic about me not having water and offered no updates or compensation.

    A cheap night stay so expectations are low. Bed was leaning to one side, old rat steel box frame. We tolerated it as just wanted to sleep. But this morning they did have coffee on. Only reason for the rating as good. Now the bad. COLD SHOWER! CHECKED us OUT at 10:30. I was still packing bike up. Very disappointing start of a new day. Lucky for us we found a nice very comfortable and great breakfast at pops dinner.

    Me and my girlfriend have been in a rough spot and living hotel to hotel. Cashier on duty was rude and room smelled terribly.. when I tried to get a different room was told no rooms were available. I am not happy!

    When I got there they didn’t have my booking they cancelled me cause I didn’t get there by 1am. I traveled 7 hours to get there the manager had an attitude and didn’t even care. I called Expedia they didn’t get back to me to help me. I am very disappointed with this booking I’ve never had issues before booking and getting to my location 7 hours later than book in never heard you have a no show if you don’t show up by a few hours even dough I booked it for three days if I’m paying for it I think I have the right to show up any time between the check in to the remaining if my time. Expedia never got back to me I’m still waiting and this was Saturday at 7am. I really want to money back.

    I did not have towels in the room, the lady acted uninterested in bringing them to me. Then the man brought to bath towels and no wash clothes. I called back to front desk to ask the lady for some wash cloths and I express I needed to leave by 630 for a concert and the bath cloths never came. Then there was no ashtray in the room(smoking room)--- then the plumbing did not work and could not flush toillet at all on Sunday morning, no one ever came. Then the tub was dirty.. Then to top it off the mattress was sunken in the bed. It was a piss poor hotel and I will spread the word as such.. Just nasty

    This property was dirty. Dirty and cracked walls and plaster. a toilet that didn't flush properly. desk clerk parked in the only handicapped spot, she was not handicacped. I have limited mobility. a quick tour of va beach found few public parking lots and a lot of walking. With this in mind, we decided not to stay the second night. The clerk refused to give us a refund. We left anyway. Didn't feel safe. Worst experience ever. will never stay at an econo lodge again !

    Looks like chocolate milk down the walls, TV isn't working, smells like marijuana, hair in the bathtub, base has so much dust and lint it's black, beds are hard, to pay over $200 for a place that lists their name as econo lodge and SUITES definitely needs a lot of care. I will never stay at this location again

    I didn't like this place at all, weed smell and I have 8 yr old that shouldn't have to smell that, no coffee pot in room, ac was not working, fridge had no shelves, no ice machine. When I called to complain the manager said there was nothing they can do, and it was $370 and some change but I get there and I'm charge $373 and some change. WILL NEVER GO BACK

    I do not think this property is worth the price. It smells really bad of cigarettes and marijuana. The room was pretty dirty and the paint job looks like it was done by a 3 year old. I frequent hotel rooms and this is by far the worst I have been in this year.

    Our stay was uncomfortable, the room is non smoking but it stinks, then the worse part is we are booked for two nights but there was error on accepting the booking. The staff end up cleaning our room before check out and took all our stuff from the room. We are able to recover some of it but most of our food in the fridge was thrown away. Then there is nobody in the front desk to talk to. The housekeepers are only Spanish speaking. Good thing I could speak Spanish. It was quite frustrating.

    The pillows have cigarette burns and holes in them. When we asked for replacements, we were told there were none. We got no towels and were told if we were going to get any it would only be one, maybe. While waiting to ask for towels and pillows, 3 different groups of guests were asking for refunds. When I mentioned the cigarette burns, we were told it isn't that bad. If we didnt have a 3 hour drive ahead of us, we would have just driven theough the night instead.
