The room was nice and comfortable Check in could have been handled better. 15 minutes before 4 after being on the road over 10 hours. Told room wasn't ready. I get that. Still could have gotten checked in. Instead we left and then had to wait in line again behind 2 others. Which I will say I beleive were also turned away since they seemed too be waiting outside. Humming noise in the hallway that keep us up all night. Told it was Havac unit that was not checked into When we reported. Nice place and if I could make sure not to be in or around 4304 I would probably stay again. Pool looked nice too cold to use. Breakfast and serving staff were excellent. Manager did work with us some after we spoke to the front desk a second time.

Really a nice hotel. The staff is very helpful. A bit far from the Virginia Beach(20 min drive), but it is worth it, by all means.

It is a lovely building and the room was great. Amber was a fabulous help when we couldn’t get our room open- thank goodness she was walking by! She tried it as well, and then called maintenance for us. A gem. The pool is really nice- super large and two lifeguards!!!! The towels were beyond small, but we got extras from the desk. Everyone we interacted with was amazing and I loved the two queen beds in the room. But the affiliation with Regent was troubling esp the letter right by the doors in the lobby, and we felt on edge throughout the visit.

The location relative to our planned events was great. Plenty of restaurants and shopping, good access to the highway The room we reserved was not available when we arrived. They offered us a free 'upgrade' to our room. Turned out there was a dog show in town and the hall we were 'upgraded' to was full of show dogs. Barking. A lot. A big bucket by the door of the building for aninal waste baggies. The ice machine on our floor didn't work. The door of our room was hard to open, it was like we were on a wing that hadn't been well maintained. Staff completely ignored complaints at check out.

It was a very family-friendly hotel, with lots to do with kids and a dog park for our furry friend. It's a place that is great for traveling families or having a quick getaway. The hotel is a little bit outdated, but the room was fine.
- 5/5
We did have some issues when we stayed there but the staff did everything they could to accommodate and make things right. We would definitely stay there again. Amy at the front desk was great.

When we arrived, the room had a strong odor that smelled like dog waste mixed with chemicals, as if something had been sprayed to cover it. About an hour later, I found a dead roach on the floor. I went to the front desk, showed a photo, and asked to switch rooms, but was told that was not an option. The only solution offered was to send someone to remove it, but we had already taken care of it ourselves. Later, we opened the mini fridge and found food left behind from a previous guest. When I threw it away, I noticed another bug near the trash can. Since we had already been told we could not switch rooms, we handled it ourselves. That night, I found a live centipede in the shower. At that point, we had found three different bugs in the room. I went back to the front desk around 11 p.m. and again asked to switch rooms. The employee apologized and said this was not Hilton standard, but we were still not moved. The room also had no working air conditioning, and the pull-out couch was extremely uncomfortable with springs that could be felt. We did not sleep and checked out Saturday to stay at a different Hilton. We were told we would at least receive half our money back, but that did not happen because we supposedly refused housekeeping. The issue was not just cleaning. It was the overall condition of the room: odor, bugs, old food, no air conditioning, and an unusable couch.

It was unacceptable to us that we couldn’t get a fresh cup of coffee in the morning. We were told at the desk at check in that we could pay for a cup at the on site restaurant. When we went down in the morning the restaurant wasn’t open until 7am. On our multi state travel itinerary this is the only hotel that didn’t offer fresh coffee in the lobby. Deal breaker? For us yes.

We chose the Founders Inn and Spa for the location near the Scope Arena for the International Tattoo event. The grounds of the Founders Inn are lovely...especially the formal garden and the lake. This Hilton Tapestry hotel has the charm of traditional Virginia. The restaurants are very clean and inviting. The menu will change slightly on a daily basis, although most items are offered daily. The servers, especially Sophia and Joseph were very kind and accommodating! They added to the pleasant atmosphere of the dining areas. Rooms were clean and spacious. We LOVED the fireplace in our suite...came in handy on a couple of cool evenings. During our stay, myt husband and I had massages at the spa. They were wonderful. Spa environment was very relaxing and elegant. We will definitely return to the Founders Inn and Spa!

Founders property is so pretty and relaxing to just sit in the garden and listen to the water fountain. My room was great, bed was comfy, AC was cooling during the day then fireplace warmed it at night. I ordered (pick up) dinner from Swan Terrace and it was delicious. Very quiet hotel. I love the location and the atmosphere. The outdoors felt like taking a walk through nature. It was so peaceful and serene. The thing I didn’t like was the conjoined room that we had. The patrons in the next room were quite loud, but other than that I have no complaints.

I love the comfortable beds, the historical feel, and beauty it presents all customers. It's my favorite hotel when I have to go to Virginia Beach. It's away from the strip but convenient to everything else. I didn't like the coffee provided in the room so I had to travel for good coffee. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.

I would defiently recommand this location to stay. The staff was very friendly and excellent service. Although I was unable to try the Spa, the grounds and surrounding areas were beautiful. They are working on the outside pool. I'll be returning for a longer stay. What made the trip even better was, we were able to check in as soon as we arrived at 12 noon. How satisfying is that, after a long drive. Parking was excellent and the many other dining spots and shopping stores on the on Indian River will keep anyone happy. Lastly the beach is just 20 minutes away.
- 3/5
The property itself is beautiful, with a lot of historic charm, and it’s impressively clean for its age. That said, our experience fell short in several areas. We were in town for a funeral and arrived very late, only to be woken up at 7:30 a.m. by loud roofing work directly above us. At no point during booking or during check-in were we informed that construction would be taking place. Even more frustrating, the roofing continued early into the weekend as well, leaving us with no opportunity to rest. We contacted the front desk to ask how long the work would continue and to request a solution, but never received a follow-up from a manager. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. They came in to remove trash but did not make the bed or clean the room. I had also asked the front desk to replace an empty body wash, but it was never taken care of, I ended up handling it myself. Additionally, the ironing board cover was worn, and the iron had residue on it, making it unusable. For $300 per night, I expected a much smoother and more attentive experience.
- 5/5
I would come back just for the stay, without going on a cruise.
- 5/5
The grounds are beautiful and our room was spacious. Nothing
- 5/5
I loved that there were many amenities to chose from. There was a smell, a little musty smell.
- 4/5
This is an older property that offers many amenities, but it needs to be maintained better. The room was spacious, but needed to be cleaned & vacuumed properly. The floors in the common areas needed vacuuming and mopping. There was an unusual odor in the hallway & in the room. I went to the local market & bought cleaning supplies & freshened the room with an essential oil diffuser. The best part was how quiet the property was.
- 4.5/5

I believe it is unacceptable for a four-star hotel to assign a room that was clearly once a double room and is now separated only by a connecting door. When the guests next door were having a party until 5 a.m., I could hear everything — every conversation. This level of noise and lack of sound insulation is not acceptable for a four-star hotel. Rooms should be properly isolated so that guests cannot hear what is happening next door.
- 3/5
-The AC would make a very loud sound every few hours. So loud that we did not get proper sleep. - The walls are very thin, we can hear other guests walking and talking in the other rooms and hallway -For a 4 star (???) hotel, one would expect that guests are provided premium bathroom amenities. We arrived late at night and found no toothrush/ toothpaste kit nor shower cap in the bathroom. We had to go outside again to the front desk area only to be given a cheap set. We 've stayed in plenty of hotels around the world and these are basic things that guests are provided for even at 2 star hotels. I just think that for the price this hotel is charging, this is ridiculous.
- 3/5
Room was good, housekeeping was ok only issue was that room service trays were not taken at any moment of my stay. When i arrived it would have been nice to have someone show us to our room as it was midnight and 2 women walking outside to their rooms. It also didnt help that we were placed in a building where some boys sports team was staying. Lets just say it would have been better if we didnt have all the stench and noise throughout the halls.
- 5/5
The spa staff also gave excellent service for my appointment.
- 2/5
I called the hotel the Tuesday before my Friday arrival date to first to let them know we would be arriving late Friday night and confirmed that the rooms will still be held. The second reason was to see if the two rooms I reserved can be adjoining rooms. The person I spoke to said the rooms were not adjoining but they were next to each other. Sadly, when my family arrived I was told not only the rooms were NOT next to each other, but in separate buildings. I was in building 4 and my other reserved room was in building 3. I explained to the night auditor I that I had called earlier in the week to confirm the locations of the rooms. I asked her if I reserved two rooms, why would I reserve two rooms in separate buildings. I was told by the night auditor there was nothing noted on my reservations and nothing she could do to change my rooms. So my stay was not poor, but the customer service was not excellent. We visit this part of Virginia twice a year, but I will not be returning to this hotel.

Love this place! The lobby is gorgeous and rooms are cozy & clean. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Great size room! It was very clean and the amenities are awesome.
- 5/5
This Inn was a highlight of my time in the Virginia Beach area. The historic beauty of the premises, the art, the atmosphere, the incredible staff, the safety measures, and cleanliness are all contributing factors as to why I am going to be a repeat customer again and again!
- 5/5
Loved my stay here. The property is beautiful, staff are lovely, rooms were clean and breakfast was wonderful. Would definitely stay again 😊
- 2/5
First room didn’t have heat. The engineer handled this amazingly well, moving my room, bringing me the key so I didn’t have to go deal with it, couldn’t have asked for more. 2nd room was across from a room that had at least two dogs that barked incessantly. No one did anything. additionally, calling the water lukewarm would have been a stretch, making for a most unpleasant shower. Hotel looks beautiful on the outside but is in need of some major updates.
- 5/5
We had a great time
- 5/5
Quality breakfast buffet. secure parking
- 5/5
Front desk was very accommodating to my special requests. I think his name was Isaac.
- 1/5
The room itself overall was par at best. After a 12 hour 1 day road trip all I wanted was a hot powerful shower and it came out like a drinking fountain. Woke up in the am to no coffee machine at all and when I went to the front desk they wanted to charge me 3.00 for a cup. Then delivered a coffee machine with missing a component. Had to contact the desk three times to get it right. Two of which I had to leave the building. Spoke to three front desk clerks who tried to help and was told the manager would call. Never did!!!

Room was small, sparse, very clean except for the external broken-framed window.

Staff was fantastic, food waayyy over priced and I did not get what I ordered till I got to the room & the kitchen was closed. Both beds were crazy lumpy, back was killing me when I left. Will not go back.

The staff was amazing! The mother son team for the breakfast made it so much better! I’ve never met nicer people ! The mom and son worked together so well and were overly welcoming and kind! They made the experience so much better! The breakfast food was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel

we had a nice stay. we cane here for our wedding anniversary. we had a king room with fireplace, view from the window out to the gardens. the staff was very nice and helpful. A must try is the restaurant. We did room service and it got to us while it was hot. it was delicious and plentiful. I want the recipe for their potatoes which came with the shrimp basket. Also was the garden with walkways for a romantic walk around the lake.
- 4/5
The overall hotel was architecturally beautiful with the gardens and walking trails. It was quite pet friendly. We did not try the breakfast. The area was close to many restaurants for food options. The spa service was good but there were delays due to the staff being 20 minutes behind schedule. There were hairs found on the shower walls and the windows were very dirty which led to our rating for the cleaniless.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet room. Beds and pillows were comfy. Great shower! I’d definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Room was very clean. They accidently overcharged are card but immediately reimbursed it and gave us breakfast/drink vouchers to compensate. The only complaint i may have is that the rooms look fancier in the pictures then they actually were.
- 4/5
Nice Staff, even after hours. Room was clean, but had dead bugs inside door, bathtub, and toilet. I suppose better than live bugs, but still unsightly. Would have switched, but it was a late checkin, and just cleaned up myself.
- 5/5
There were healthy options and the fresh omelette to order was hot. My room was excellent and accessible to everything.
- 4/5
It’s just a nice and unique setup!!!!

Wonderful stay. Room very clean; nice amenities a plus. Very tasteful decor. View out of my window was spectacular. Definitely stay here the next time I’m in the area.

The property was beautiful! The decor in the main building was charming and inviting. Location to Regent University was perfect. The rooms were adequate. New carpet and paint in the rooms would be nice.

Not impressed whatsoever, especially since Tapestry Collection hotels are usually quite nice. I cannot recommend this hotel if you aren’t prepared to gamble with what room they will decide to give you despite your reservation.

Very pretty venue for weddings and such! Excellent stay
- 5/5
The worst hotel stay ever!!! The bathroom clogged and we called front desk at 6 am to get help because water was gushing out of toilet. The lady on duty said the engineering was not available. We called again and asked if we could go to another room to bath and change clothes. The front desk clerk told us yo go to the front desk to pick up keys.We asked why they couldn’t bring to us.She said that she couldn’t leave front desk.We kept calling and they gave us the runaround. They finally got someone to come but it was 8:30 am.We had to remove the water ourselves. The lady hung up the phone on and didn’t offer no compensation for the hassle and headache we endured.I will never recommend this hotel to anyone!!!
- 4/5
You have to be ready to do some walking around the property, but that was the point when it was built. One of the better kept older places that we’ve stay at in a while!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful! For the restaurants, there are 2, one is fancy and beautiful and the other was regular fare food with a few menu items. Was really good! Wish they had Prime to watch football but our stay was short anyway. Beautiful location and have already recommended it!
- 3/5
The front desk staff was incompetent and unable to answer basic guests questions amenities in and around the property. They were very slow with Checkin and securing airport transportation to the airport.
- 5/5
The bed and shower was great. But you can tell the luxurious part of the property has lost its luster.
- 4/5
oh, everything was very comfortable. There was just only a couple things inside of the actual room. The light to the left side of the bed didn’t work and the fan in the bathroom was extremely loud.
- 4/5
The hotel was very pleasant and picturesque (especially the grounds). The rooms were lovely and spacious. However, I think the breakfast options could do with a bit of improvement (but the omelettes that are made fresh in front of you are lovely)
- 5/5

- 4/5
The wait for check in was a bit longer than expected, nothing else was.
- 5/5
The hotel itself is gorgeous with colonial theme. Love the outdoor landscaping and the pool has resort feel!
- 4/5
We enjoyed the property overall, though it felt a little outdated. Housekeeping could use some improvement, as we noticed a room service tray left outside a room for more than 12 hours. Bathroom was very clean!
- 5/5
We have stayed at Founders Inn for multiple visits to the Virginia Beach area. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. We love the easy access on and off Interstate 64. It sits close enough for day visits to the beach, but has a nice size swimming pool if you just want to stay put. The restaurant has a great staff and the food is good. We will stay there again when in the area.
- 3/5
Overall my stay was good. My two biggest complaints are in my bathroom there was no shower curtain. I went to the front desk and ask for one, however I did not receive one. My only other problem the door to my room. was really messed up. To get out the room you had to pull so hard just to open it.

Beautiful property. Clean, quiet, safe, and the pool was large.
- 5/5
Lovely grounds, clean rooms and easy check in
- 5/5
Area was around what we needed to be.
- 5/5
While the overall stay was great, the room was not ready by 4, I was not able to add late check out on, and I wanted to reserve another night they did not seem to want to deal with it at the front desk so we decided to leave at regular check out time.
- 5/5
Restaurant service poor, food mediocre.
- 3/5
The staff was awesome. Checkin was a little rushed. He was on the phone when working with us and never got my Rewards number entered. I cleared that up the next day. House Keeping did not refill coffee or bring new cups/glasses to use. I tried to get some from the cleaning person but they did not speak English. But we always enjoy it here.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful hotel with exceptional amenities. The hotel staff was terrific. They have a lovely restaurant with kind servers. A mother-and-son team works there—they were simply amazing!
- 5/5
Quite and safe
- 3/5
I found a total lack of service and willingness to help to be the rule rather than the exception through out the property. The restaurant servers were excellent and are the only reason to visit this property.
- 5/5
The property is beautiful, and the rooms had just what we needed. The staff were helpful and accommodating.

The property was very easy to get to and close to our daughter . The cleaning staff was not friendly not even a Hi or good morning 😞. The refrigerator was not cooling and it was an important part of this trip ….my husband is a diabetic and needs to keep his insulin cold . When calling down to the desk and reporting this …it took them at least 3 hours to get it resolved . That set our first night there with aggression.

I had a stain on my floor and my room had an odor. The buildings where the rooms were just smelled old and not pleasurable. There are ducks that walk around and use the bathroom everywhere, and although i believe in nature. I also believe that the facility could hire someone to pick up feces. The staff were just OK. At upon arrival the staff did try to get my room situation handled promptly. I was told by Expedia that i would have free breakfast and i was charged. At checkout there was no urgency with dealing with that matter. They didnt seem bothered. I needed to use the ATM, and i was asked if i could wait because there was a wedding. I feel like all the urgency went to the wedding and screw everyone else. All in all, the stay was average. Breakfast was cold. I enjoyed the fruit and my tea that i purchased myself. The waiter was nice. He went above and beyond for me.

We’ve stayed here many times and it never disappoints. Clean comfortable place, staff is always good! Thank you!

It is a beautiful hotel and grounds. We felt safe and it had a great central location. I would highly recommend. Our only issue was room service availability ending at 9pm because that’s when the restaurant closes. We did Uber eats but had to pick up the food at the front desk during torrential rain. That was out of everyone’s control. Overall everything was fantastic.

To much geese poop to walk. Property is a little outdated

The staff was very friendly at this property. The location was great. But we did have a an issue with our room, but they were able to comp us for one night so that was good.

Great Stay

Extremely beautiful property, friendly staff from the receptionist to the house cleaners, location is prefect as it is so near to so many stores, and the beds are so comfortable!! This was our second time staying here. If you are a cyclist, you’ll have so many routes to bike right from the property.

The garden. Though it could use some sprucinìng up. The geese and ducks are wonderful. Would be good if the walk ways were washed off from time to time

The air conditioner made terrifying sounds the entire night and then it broke. Also kind of gross and weird property. I shouldn't even say it's in Virginia Beach because it took $100 car ride to get to Virginia Beach.

The charger outlets on one side of the bed weren’t working. There was a dead bug on the floor. It looked like the telephone hadn’t been dusted in a while. The room hadn’t been cleaned one day. I called to ask for it to be cleaned. The front desk wanted to know what I needed done in the room. I said that I needed towels and the trash emptied. They brought one set of towels—3 hours later—and didn’t empty the trash. For a 4 star hotel, it was extremely disappointing. I will never stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

I stayed at the founders inn and spa for 4th of July weekend and I couldn’t have been more pleased I spoke with two woman at the front desk during my stay both were so nice and welcoming to me the rooms are clean and room service is on point thank you to everyone who made sure I had fresh clean towels they made the bed every time ensuring a clean place I also want to add the restaurant has great service as well the prices are all reasonable the atmosphere outside and inside is stunning indoor and outdoor pool with a nice gym 10/10 stay thank you all for making my vacation amazing God bless

Serene grounds, beautiful main building and Swan Terrace restaurant was wonderful. Rooms were comfortable although a bit dated with the carpets and AC system noise. Grounds can be better maintained (there should be no smoking allowed, especially in and around the children’s playground, and the pond needs a thorough cleanup as we noted several garbage debris such as plastic bags and cans in the pond during our stay). Windows also need attention (cleaning). Overall beautiful grounds and place to stay, service was good and attached restaurant, the outdoor pool and slide and the gym were all great amenities that our family personally appreciated. Can become a 5 star property with the changes noted.

I loved the smell of the room like i wish they sold it in a aromatherapy bottle. I love the fresh water by the lobby. Its the simple things really.

What happened to businesses that emphasize good customer service? Each call to the front desk was a multi-effort attempt, with nearly 20 rings each time before someone finally answered. The young woman at the restaurant's front entrance desk seemed unknowledgeable and unmotivated to learn more about any allergens. You'd expect someone working in food service to have basic training about allergies and to take them seriously, or at least be motivated to ask a manager for help. This was a real turn-off, so I spent my hard-earned money elsewhere for dining. I might escalate the latter complaint to Hilton Corp because that's unacceptable. Finally, as other reviewers noted, the property decor was dated, and the rooms were dark. Don't be fooled by the "Virginia Beach" name; it is landlocked and shares a campus with a Christian University. The vibe of the property is plantation and or divinity.

Great location and very beautiful property. The food amd service was great amd it was an eazy drive to the beaches and state park.

This hotel is so charming and cozy. I loved my recent stay here and would definitely come back again!
- 5/5
I liked how convenient the enter and exits were and how nice the hotel and rooms were. What I didn’t like was that the outside pool was crowded and only 3.09 ft.

Very nice place to get get away and relax’ great service and friendly staff. Clean rooms and great property . I just love the garden and the trail walks.

Property is unique with a lovely garden, pond amd terrace

The landscaping, flowers, indoor and outdoor seating were beautiful! The only drawback were the many geese and their droppings on the sidewalks
- 5/5
The property was beautiful & well maintained, the food was delicious at the on-site restaurant, and the staff was friendly & courteous. I definitely return next year.

An excellent time with family.Quiet with great walkable, outdoor gardens. Great ambience. Restaurant was pricy, but had good food options. Both indoor and outdoor pools.
- 3/5
The property is huge with nice walking trails that are mostly covered with duck droppings all over the path. After my first night our room was not cleaned or made up. I found a security guard (Chuancey) who went and got us fresh towels and a free breakfast voucher as an apology from the hotel. The next day our room was skipped over again but we were lucky to have double the towels that Chauncey brought us the day before. When we retuned to our room around 8pm, after 3 attempts calling the front desk a man answered the phone and his reply was housekeeping went home. We stayed 3 nights and never got our room cleaned. The only time we saw housekeeping was when we checked out. They were outside the room waiting to clean it for the next guest. We will never stay at this property again. We visit this area to visit our son who is in the military 2 or 3 times a year.

The founders Inn is a beautiful hotel located in Virginia Beach. The landscaping has always given me that ah moment. The rooms are clean and the water is hot! Never did make it to the pool, but it is right outside of my room when I go. I love that the spa is on site and that there is an amazing restaurant that not only offers dining but room service. As an event planner, I absolutely love the fact that you can do weddings and vow renewals at this property.

No Clock in room, no microwave in room. We were on 2nd floor, 1 microwave 1st floor only very inconvenient, No free breakfast, Restaurant food mediocre :(

Highly recommended

Nathan was very helpful. He answered many of our questions. The water pressure was lower than we are accustom, but it was not a terrible shower experience. The pool attendant and life guard (female) were very informative, and helpful. It is a shame that the supervisors only have one lifeguard on for such a large pool. The one was very diligent, but the pool is too big for just one person.

Overall the property is beautiful and very quiet. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only issue we had was the rooms and floors are outdated. Mattress was not comfortable. Would we stay again? Absolutely. We recommend it!

I’ve been a loyal guest of The Founders Inn and Spa for many years, frequently staying here while visiting my children in college. My experiences have always been pleasant, until my most recent visit from 5/16–18 for my daughter's college graduation.Unfortunately, this stay was disappointing and far below the standard I’ve come to expect. During my visit, a large dog show was being held on the property. As a result, the atmosphere was chaotic and unpleasant. Campers, RVs, and travel vans filled the parking lot, with dog kennels and large trash bags filled with feces occupying vacant spots. The odor was overwhelming, and dog waste was visible around the grounds, significantly detracting from the beauty and cleanliness that the property is known for. Many of the guests associated with the event were rude and confrontational. I was yelled at for pulling into a public parking space that someone had apparently reserved for camping. Numerous parking spots were blocked off with orange cones, seemingly claimed by dog show participants, leaving other guests with no convenient parking options. To make matters worse, dogs were allowed in guest rooms, and many barked throughout the night, resulting in sleepless nights during what should have been a special and relaxing occasion.I understand that dog shows may be part of the resort’s calendar, but the way this particular event was managed made it feel more like a kennel than a peaceful inn and spa.

However the hotel rooms are in need of serious upgrades, and the dining experience was underwhelming as well. Overall, my stay was disappointing and frustrating. I DO NOT PLAN TO RETURN nor can I recommend this hotel to others. Health is serious issue take

Had four knocks on my door when trying to nap. Also had someone open the door when I was in bed

I liked the convenience in location. I didn't like that when I called for shower gel, didn't come. Additional calls for room service were severely delayed/not responded to.

One of the best pet friendly hotels we have stayed. I wish they had a small kitchenette or at least a microwave.
