Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, historic charm, and excellent location, with many guests praising the friendly and helpful staff. However, there are several recurring complaints about the quality of service, hidden fees, and issues with room amenities and cleanliness.

Room was quite adequate for our needs. Bathroom was very clean and spacious with a shower and a tub/shower. Hallways were a bit of a challenge to reach the room but were nicely decorated and clean. Elevators are very quick giving the age of the building. Lots of history here in this hotel. We didn't dine in but the restaurant/bar seemed very nice. There was live music playing when we arrived on the mezzanine level but was gone later that evening. Super friendly staff, very professional. There was a lot of noise coming from the mechanical equipment yard outside our sixth floor room number 629. Sounded like thunder all night long. Very annoying. The AC equipment never shuts off even thought the fan was set to automatic. Beware of the $73 per night valet. Not worth it. Find a garage one or two streets over and park there for $10 to $15. I had no idea it would cost me $73 to valet, ridiculous.

This is an amazing hotel. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. Check in process was seamless, staff very courteous. The room was spotless. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and comfortable bedding. Felt better than my bed at home. At dinner at the Edgar, so delicious. Husband had the scallops, I had the roasted chicken, so good. Finished with tiramisu OMG perfect ending. The waitress was the best! Wish I had her name. Another thing, at no time were we disturbed by noise from another room or from the hallway. The gift shop was well stocked with any items you might need plus souvenirs. Hotel is located a few blocks from the White House. Perfect location for tourist!

The communication was terrible from the time I checked In until I left I was Charged twice with no explanation and the only addy charge on my card should have been for parking the person at the front couldn’t breakdown why I was charge once I checked in and again once I checked out. The air conditioner didn’t work in the room. I booked For an King room and was given a Queen

The room was clean. The staff member that cleaned 929 was very attentive. So friendly. The room was dated. The location was perfect. The staff were helpful in the reception area. The wi fi was fine. The breakfast was nice. A good variety.

The hotel was very impressive on first impressions. Good location. Staff were courteous and professional. But the room was a bit small for the price, the view was looking over at a wall of other rooms and the windows wouldn’t open. There was no room service, you could order food from the restaurant via QR Code but then had to collect it yourself. I went to the bar and ordered a Martini but was told I had to have it served in a tumbler glass if I wanted to take it to my room.

So many perks! Voucher for two to ride Old Town Trolly DC tour, $10 Uber credit, $15 hotel food credit! Just make sure you ask because although the front desk mentioned we get these perks, that was as far as it went. So have your questions ready, nothing is automatic.

The location was convenient and would go back when in DC!
- 5/5
Big room, close to White House, quiet safe area of Washington. Large gym. Would stay again
- 5/5
All services was good

Very elegant and beautiful hotel with chandeliers and marble everywhere. The rooms were a little small but comfortable. The staff was kind and friendly.
- 5/5
Breakfast was the flaw in this hotels high rating. Edgar can’t even make poached eggs. The next morning I solved the problem by going to Tatte which serves a good breakfast

Rooms were extremely dirty. Showed up to a room with hair in the bathroom floor and shower. The counters were noticeably dirty and full of dust. When asked to get moved to another room, the front desk claimed that it was too late to move us to another room (it was 9pm), until we called the manager. After moving to another room, it was still grimy and dirty, but it was 10pm at that point and we were only staying one night. Will not be coming back.

Nunca tuvimos ninguna explicacion de lo sucedido. La puerta abierta de nuestra habitacion con todo abierto. Nos parece inaceptable. Y peor aún no tener ninguna explicacion durante 3 dias y dos quejas

Beautiful and grand hotel. Was quiet and relaxing, great mattress and pillows, except for the heat/cooling register, which was very loud and kept going on every 5 or so minutes, so I had to keep adjusting the sound level of the TV. But I still love The Mayflower! And the shower is excellent, good water pressure.
- 4/5
Room was quit small
- 5/5
A beautiful hotel!
- 2/5
The entrance/lobby is nice and pretty, but the rest of the hotel was dated and no where as nice as the lobby. It was "fine" but I will not be staying there again.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Get off the Metro at Farragut North on the Red Line for easiest access.
- 5/5
Great location with the blue line and red line two blocks away. Clean and well attended to property.

Nice Hotel
- 3/5
Heat and air in the room very noisy.
- 1/5
The room was very small. Both of us could not pass between the bed and the dresser. Room was over the subway. So darn noisy. Did not get one bit of sleep both nights. Horrible. Tea wasn't even offered in the room. I prefer to bath with soap and not body wash. No soap bars. Will never ever stay here again!
- 2/5
1) the hotel is highly outdated and needs total renovation 2) all windows in the hotel are locked, not possible to open even for a little gap. Which is weird, because there is no supply/exhaust ventilation in the rooms. Only a regular exhaust fan in the bathroom. So forget about fresh air. 3) all rooms are equipped with old style noisy air conditioners installed in the walls under the windows. They are extremely noisy, it's not possible to sleep with them on. And I can point out one additional thing which might be important for European travelers. There are only wall showers, no hose showers.
- 5/5
Staff were nice and helpful.
- 5/5
A beautiful and friendly hotel!
- 3/5
Location was great. Parked across street at a garage, not bad $54.00 for 24 hours vs hotel at $79.00 per nite. Room on the 5th floor, rather small , and no view whatsoever. AC , ran all night, rather noisy. Old sandwich left in the refrigerator that smelled bad . Had breakfast in the hotel that was ok , rather pricey. Not what I expected, for an upscale hotel.
- 1/5
the hotel needs clean rooms, and the service is terrible

This particular hotel is beautiful and extremely well kept.

Friendly staff. Place was a dump though, should be called the Brownflower
- 4/5
The air conditioner didn’t work very well, we even had it set at 68 and still was warm. But all around it was a great stay!
- 5/5
I liked the staff ,they could not do enough for me,I liked the size of the rooms ,the restaurant, the comfort of the beds as well the general location of the motel.
- 5/5
The room was small but efficient & immaculate. Edgars has great cinnamon rolls. It was pricey for breakfast.
- 5/5
5 star stay! A stone's throw from the metro, with a parking garage across the street if you choose not to use their valet service. The staff was great and gave my kids free bags with sunglasses and water. The standard room was spacious and comfy, updated and well decorated. Convenient location.
- 5/5
Historically great stay!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. After long day of site seeing, room service dining was excellent!
- 3/5
The front staff was amazing. The restaurant was mediocre. The wait staff wasn’t friendly, they never checked on us during our multiple times we ate there. We went to the bar one evening and ordered drinks and despite empty glasses sitting in front of us and the bartender just standing there doing nothing for 20 minutes nobody offered to get us another drink. Instead a different bartender just brought us the check. It made us feel like we were an inconvenience and they just wanted us out. It was only 8pm. The housekeeping staff was terrible. They only made our bed each day. They would take out some of the trash, but not all of it. Sometimes they dropped trash in the middle of the floor and left it. Not once did they clean or provide clean glasses. For the price we paid I would’ve expected top-of-the-line service and amenities. I would not stay at this resort again.

Walks to DuPont circle with lots of food options
- 5/5
Nice staff and hotel is very clean.
- 5/5
beautiful and clean property with extremely friendly staff.

While I appreciate that this is an older structure, not accustomed to hotel where air conditioning unit is extremely loud. It was so loud that I had to turn the tv up to hear. Additionally, rooms are extremely small. Will not be on my list to visit again.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Very nice hotel. Great location
- 4/5
Stayed a week at this old grand hotel. Beautiful lobby. The attached restaurant was expensive, but the service was very good. There is a concierge named Alex who was extremely helpful.

- 5/5
Very nice stay!
- 5/5
Looking forward to our next stay. Highly recommend.
- 4/5
Excellent location and service!
- 3/5
The Mayflower is getting a bit shabby. It’s acceptable and the fact that there are no school trippers is enough to recommend it. But if you are looking for a five star type experience from 20 years ago, you will be disappointed. Beds are really bad.
- 5/5
Excellent accomodations and staff, fantastic location, and beautiful hotel all around
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
The rooms need to be updated like the beautiful hotel is. You can tell they pt all the money into the lobby
- 4/5
Relatedly why isn’t there free WiFi? Every mid range hotel has this. I got around it with a hotspot but that is a pet peeve with upscale hotels. But I will definitely stay here again
- 5/5
The staff was fantastic

The Metro is on the corner. Easy access and well lit at night! Whenever I travel to DC with family I ALWAYS stay here! I would highly recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
Beautiful property.
- 5/5
The only complaint I had was that the A/C was very loud. The room was very small and the noise made it hard to hear the television, and it would be inconsiderate to turn up the volume.
- 2/5
Old hotel with bad insulation you can hear the street and toilets flushing and doors opening and closing in the halls
- 4/5
Great service, room and bathroom were much smaller than average hotel size.
- 4/5
it was great and we loved it the hotel is beautiful and the service is wonderful, our only issue was the bedsheets smelled awful, terrible, it smelled like they’ve never been washed and the smell was all over the room not just on the sheets. the pillows were the stinkiest!! really our only disappointment

Our family LOVES the historic Mayflower! The central location is ideal and it's an easy walk to many great restaurants and cultural establishments. It's also convenient for business travel. The staff is EXCELLENT! Always helpful, gracious and accommodating. The hotel is clean, quiet and charming. We will continue to return to our favorite DC hotel!
- 5/5
Stayed with family for 3 nights was amazing location and great hotel . Recommend highly
- 4/5
Overall a quality stay! Everyone I engaged with from the bell hop, reception desk, bar/restaurant, housekeeping and in room dining were overwhelmingly accommodating. The lobby area and Edgar restaurant are a must visit! I stayed in a suite which was very spacious and included a wet bar. From my vantage point, there was no view or reason to open the window. The only challenge was the noise from the heater/AC unit and the noise from the outside of the hotel including delivery trucks which started around 4-5am. So if you are unbothered by a bit of noise and are not looking for stunning views/balcony, this hotel is excellent especially during the Holiday Season. There are lots of coffee shops, shopping, restaurants, bars and clubs within walking distance and many of the D.C. attractions are a short walk or Taxi/Uber ride. Housekeeping was always very timely and efficient. It’s a lovely historic building and a must visit!

Azi makes one feel as though one has gone home
- 5/5
The service was amazing! We really had a great time! I loved the charm and elegance of the hotel! The location was also great.
- 5/5
Great hotel.
- 3/5
$12.95 a day for WiFi when even Holiday Inn is free? Really? No free water in the room and extra facility charge appears double billed on credit card but they said give it a few days and it will sort it out. No breakfast buffet on weekends. C’mon.
- 5/5
Very helpful staff and a nice hotel.
- 5/5
good
- 5/5
Third stay, always enjoyable.
- 1/5
The staff was utterly non professional and rude.
- 5/5
Very nice and helpful staff
- 5/5
The Mayflower was a lovely hotel. Our room had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable. The cleaning staff were great! The lobby and bar area are beautiful. My only complaint is the bar staff were older with dry personalities and were less than accommodating. Drinks were good, but their service needed an upgrade.
- 5/5
I liked everything!
- 4/5
Quiet, safe, walking distance to all the right places in DC for World Bank, train station, and restaurants.
- 3/5
The room is out of date! Nothing provided in the room unless you ask for them including water and sleepers. There is no kettle to boil hot water if you want to have tea. Poorly facilitated. The size of the room is big, but beds are small. Very dissappointed!
- 2/5
The restaurant/breakfast service is unacceptable. Rooms are outdated

When we got to the mayflower hotel at 4pm Saturday the 12th they could not confirm our reservation. We all tried to contact your company but could not . About an hour and a half two hours later we finally decided to drive back home to NC. The manager on duty, The manager on duty was nice but could not accommodate us. Very disappointed and we were very tired because we drove there that morning from NC and all the way home that evening
- 4/5
The hotel is a little old and could use a renovation
- 5/5
The staff members were fantastic, informative, and friendly. A must stay in DC.
- 5/5
It was wonderful. Just as I remembered as a child.
- 5/5
Awesome facility and the staff was great!
- 2/5
I was charged $1300 for incidentals. The property manager in the day wanted to make it right however the property manager in the evening wanted to check me out and check me back in. In the end, nothing was resolved and I’m still having to wait for the $1300 to come back to my account plus another $86 for resort fees.

Staff doesn't know what they are doing. Just going through the motions. Disappointing since this hotel is supposed to be a luxury experience. Expect much better service and customer care.

I have stayed twice at this property; it is a good property; but staff service could be better - it varies based on the individual
- 4/5
clean, no pool, no water bottle and tea in a room, no newspaper for price point
- 5/5
I thought that overall the staff were very helpful and courteous. The ambiance was that of an old grand hotel but the room was reasonably priced. I would certainly recommend it to others.
- 5/5
Will definitely stay here again. The Mayflower Hotel is in the perfect location. Easy access to the DC metro and various bus routes that can take you all over the city. Lots of shopping and dining access all in walking distance. Room was very clean and the hotel staff went above and beyond!! This hotel is my new favorite!!
- 4/5
Loved the location of this property. Walking distance to metro and comedy club. Public areas of hotel are beautiful and well maintained. Food from room service was very good. Room was a little small and the HVAC did not work well. Good stay overall.
- 4/5
Had a few issues with my room but the staff promptly upgraded my room! Can’t ask for more than that! Had a great stay.
