Reviews
The Anchor Pointe Inn is a budget-friendly hotel with friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, and a convenient location for those traveling to the port. However, the area surrounding the hotel is industrial and not very safe, with limited dining and activity options nearby. Some guests have reported issues with shared bathrooms, noise, and lack of hot water.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean rooms
- Unsafe industrial area with limited dining and activity options
- Shared bathrooms and lack of hot water in some rooms

It was very clean and comfy! Great closeness to the cruise terminal, also the price was very well.
- 5/5
Staff was accommodating when I needed a later checkout and offered coffee in the morning. The only thing I'd say could use improvement is ensuring the vending machines could be used, as they were empty. However, the location is close to a grocery store, and other eating amenities. Overall, a good experience. Next time I visit on that side of town, I'm going there!
- 4/5
Super clean around the Inn and in the rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. No shops in walking distance and the parking lot is locked up after 7:30-8:00p which I didn't like much.
- 5/5
Clean and reliable, friendly staff
- 5/5
Best place to stay, clean and safe! Secure parking, and very friendly staff.

The room is clean and the staff are very nice!
- 5/5
I would recommend Anchor Pointe Inn to anyone visiting the greater LA area. Very friendly staff. Thank you for the great stay!
- 5/5
Very close to where we needed to be! Big bathroom! Love how sweet the owners are.
- 5/5
The location was perfect for my purposes. Very close proximity to the sailor's union halls, and there were some decent places to eat nearby. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They made coffee every morning. My expectations were honestly a bit low, but the room I got was very clean and comfortable. Great experience. I would be more than happy to come back here.
- 2/5
To be honest- we were expecting something a bit nicer from the photos. It’s an older property— it was priced low and we got what we paid for. The staff was friendly, however.
- 5/5
Very good ppl. And a safe location
- 3/5
The location! The parking lot looked a bit sketchy. Something is up when they tell you that they close the parking lot at 8.
- 2.5/5
Friendly owners Location, bathroom needs remodeling
- 1/5
It was disgusting
- 5/5
I was pleasantly surprised. The location seemed a bit worrisome but once I was inside, the sweet couple made me feel safe and secure and welcome.
- 3/5
Had to ring the door bell 2-3 times before the manager answered the door to check in at 11pm l. I heard this was a refurbished halfway house from my uber driver which he explained had burnt down. Smelled like fabulouso cleanser. Bathrooms - bring shower shoes. They are jack and Jill or just don’t shower. Water smells like sulfur coming out of the tap. Housekeeping knocked 30 minutes early to check out. They knocked twice (really loud and angry) said I was late. Check out was 11. They came at 1030. I think the owners are doing the best they can with the patrons they serve. One night stay is maximum recommended.
- 5/5
Great value for the price. Quite area.
- 1/5
Room was gross, sheets were stained, no private bathroom, blood soaked toilet paper, no hot water.
- 5/5
I didn't use the parking area, due to not having a car. The room and area were very quiet and clean. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
- 5/5
Great place to lay down and rest. Easy parking and easy check in.
- 5/5
They were so friendly and helpful. The room was so clean.
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
A little bit better price for our union members.

Good people
- 5/5
We had a great stay! We wanted to explore Long Beach/LA after our cruise so we stopped here. We weren’t sure what to expect at first but we were so pleased with the room, the staff, and the level of comfort. They are such great people, very helpful and nice! I appreciate that they have a locked parking lot at night and the whole building is secure! Definitely recommend to others :)

The room was clean and bathroom was stocked with products for use. The area was accessible and convenient to the port for business and pleasure.
- 4/5

- 4/5
Clean comfortable and affordable. Nice couple who manages the Motel and has coffee,
- 4.5/5
Very polite and willing to service employee. Easy to find. Close to bus station.
- 2.5/5
No breakfast soda machine broken
- 2/5
It was affordable. The paper taped over the carpet to prevent wear and tear caught me by surprise. Mattresses with stains on them. Couldn't walk bear foot because vinyl floor was tacky(sticky). Window was missing a screen. Bathroom in the room was shared so had to knocked everytime to go pee. The view iss nothing g to look at.
- 2/5
This property is not in a safe area. I do not recommend it to anyone due
- 5/5
Great owner, helpfull, very pleasant
- 5/5
Everything was perfect in every way
- 4/5
Ease up on the bleach! Entered the room and was met with a powerful chemical smell. Thank you for keeping it clean. May benefit if each room had a streaming stick. Only GRIT channel was available for viewing.
- 4/5
Clean, quiet. Just needed a place to sleep before our cruise. Super cheap. But in the boondocks. Close to cruise port. Carnival Firenze and Queen Mary Ship.
- 5/5
A great value and comfortable one night stay when waiting to board a cruise ship, it tailors to this need an they know it, and they appreciate it. The soda vending machine was out of order unfortunately
- 2.5/5
It had a setup in the bedroom but it was okay
- 5/5
Rocky was perfect. Room is only for one night but I do believe we'll be back
- 5/5
Our room was excellent. The staff was great. As usual, they were warm and welcoming. I hate the owners were on vacation and we didn't get to see them. But their niece did a great job representing them.
- 3/5
To fix. Great staff
- 2/5
I didn’t realize the private washroom wasn’t inside our room. We had to go out of our room to use the washroom. There are other people hanging out in the lounge so it gets awkward when I am walking out of the washroom in my pajamas and running into those people. The room also smelled as well which wasn’t great. There was also no elevator so we had to carry our luggage upstairs
- 4.5/5
Location and cleanliness. Floor in room dirty and hair in bathroom.
- 2/5
Didn’t stay as we felt the area was to unsafe The hotel itself seemed ok but the surrounding area was unbelievable Many homeless people A lady went to the washroom only yards from the hotel on the Main Street Disgusting We went back an hour to the hotel we originally booked and had a very nice evening
- 2/5
Would never book again
- 2.5/5
Stayed up late to let me in. Coffee in the main room. Floor in my room was sticky and the chair was filthy—I put a blanket over it to sit down. Tv in main area on blast on a Christian channel.
- 0.5/5
There was unclean rooms and gunshots outside hotel room
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
Secure and comfy. Clean and nice staff.
- 1/5
Was not above 1 star place.
- 3/5
Need to change old locks to modern smart cards. Place a good quality coffee machine in the lobby.
- 5/5
Friendly and accommodating staff. Facilities were quaint & clean.
- 3/5
We had to fix our own toilet because the figure out how to make the hot water work until you stop to leave overall I will stay there again now that I figure out everything that ice maker takes forever but the washing machine and the dryer is very cheap
- 5/5
Clean and good priced stay prior to cruise. They had all the things you might need with friendly service. Be advised that at least some of the rooms had Jack and Jill bathrooms, but that wasn’t bad, especially considering the price.
- 5/5
The Staff was great ..Cute little budget place if your just in Long Beach to Sh...shower shave and sleep.. the place felt very safe. You can take the bus to the Queen Mary or downtown Long Beach..it only cost $1.75 per person..
- 5/5
This is a good hotel the owners are wonderful people the area is not idea but once your inside the hotel you won’t even remember how the outside area are ! I enjoyed my stay I was made comfortable
- 5/5

- 4/5

- 5/5
Besides the manager being afraid of the homeless population there, the stay was good, clean room, clean office, backyard was clean.
- 5/5
The Staff was always very pleasant, considerate and accommodating. I would definitely stay at Anchor Pointe Inn again. This place was just wonderful!
- 5/5
Very nice place. Friendly and helpful staff. I didn't have a phone charger, they lend me one. Recommend
- 5/5
Great spot. They were very accomodating and helpful. I arrived late to the Inn around midnight, but they were standing by
- 3/5

The room was very clean. The staff were very good.
- 5/5
Esta bien el lugar centrico, aunque esta en la zona industrial cerca de la zona turistica
- 5/5
When we arrived, we almost didn’t go in because the parking lot clearly had a locking gate and we were concerned about the safety of the neighborhood. We had just returned from a 32 day Cruise and wanted to go shopping for the afternoon without all our luggage. The front door was locked and when the employee came to the door, we asked if we could store our luggage until we returned for checkin later that day. He was very accommodating and helped take our luggage to a room where it could be stored until we returned. While we were taking our luggage into the hotel we could tell that a lot of effort had been made to update the inside of the hotel and even though it is an old building it had been through a renovation and seemed as nice as an old building could be. We were told that the parking lot would be locked from 8 pm until 7 am, so if we wanted our car secured we needed to return before 8 pm. It reminded us of more of a Hostel, since some rooms have a shared bathroom. We had requested a private bathroom which resulted in our being assigned to the handicap accessible room which worked well for our needs. The bed was not as comfortable as we had hoped, but it was not terrible either and we did get a good nights sleep. The employee went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. We definitely plan to stay here again when we return for another cruise in the future. They had a small Ice machine only 1-2 quarts.
- 5/5
The people was nice and quiet please, room was clean. I can not complain.
- 5/5
clean space and affordable. perfect for a workstay
- 4/5
Clean and quiet. Nothing around the motel
- 4/5
Good stay. Cozy place.
- 5/5
The owners of Anchor Pointe Inn went above and beyond to accomodate to the needs of my boyfriend and I who were arriving very late for a cruise we left on the next morning. I felt extremely safe and cared for. The room was clean and spacious. They offered us coffee or tea when we woke up. They let us leave our car in their parking lot while we were on a cruise for the insanely gracious rate of $10 per night. We knew our vehicle would be safe with them. I love to support a small business, and I highly recommend this home away from home!
- 5/5
Super clean. Neighbor hood is interest g but a great place to stay especially if you have a cruise. I don’t remember it saying jack and jill bathrooms in the description but it wasn’t an issue as no one was next door. But just a heads up for anyone with a partner who wants bathroom privacy.
- 4/5
The couple is very welcoming and nice. The rooms has all the basic needs and it super clean. The area which the inn is in, is filled with homeless people and tent city across couple of blocks. Just have to be careful at night.
- 5/5
Very quiet. Lots of character. Extremely kind and helpful employees hosting the property
- 5/5
Great affordable and convenient
- 4/5
It was quiet, not alot to offer in dining or things to do nearby, as its in an industrial area, but nice and friendly owners. Clean place.
- 5/5
They offered us tea no matter when ever we were around. The room is dated but clean and the bed was very comfortable. The temperature within the hotel was pleasant. There is a Mexican Restaurant, Pizzeria and Convience Store just a block around the corner. We would recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in that area. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant.
- 5/5
The rooms are clean and the building is safe and secure. Beds are pretty comfy
- 4/5
Nice property , clean and quiet
- 4/5
Nice ppl
- 5/5
Ok
- 4/5
So much less expensive than staying near the convention center and only about 10-15 minutes away. Strange area, but no problems and good value for the money.
- 4/5
My stay here was just fine and far, far less money than what I would have paid in Long Beach. The convention center was only 15 minutes (at most) away and easy to get to. Best to stock up on food before you come here as shopping options in the neighborhood are limited. Parking on the street was no problem. I plan to stay here the next time I come down for a trade show or convention.
- 5/5
The owner was very kind and courteous. He was very attentive and willing to go out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. It is very nice inside and very clean. The room itself was spotless and well presentable. My highlight was the bed. I slept so well in it! I'd stay here again. Too bad I had to go back home. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I highly recommend this place to anyone.
- 5/5
Great little placed tucked away! Staff is super friendly!!
- 4/5
Nice staff
- 5/5
What a gem! The staff was very welcoming and the room was a delight!
- 5/5
This is a gem in a sort of nowhere area. Clean and comfortable, you are getting a funky cool room with great hosts if you have a nearby event or reason to be in at the port. Good street food with 4-8 blocks, neighbourhood is rough so make your expectations match the price.
- 4/5
Nice place in the wrong area
- 2/5
Hosts were great. Room was clean, but the shower walls were still dirty. Also, this place is in the projects. Avoid!
- 4/5
friendly Service
- 5/5
My tv didnt work but other than that my stay there was comfy and quiet.
- 4/5
Very easy check in. Pleasant folks working there.
- 5/5
The front desk was helpful, gave us a slightly early check-in for free. Left, no questions asked. The rooms are fine and have what you need with no bella and whistles. Solid stay, would do again if I needed to catch a cruise.
- 4/5
Very affordable and good conditions!
- 4/5
The free off-street parking was perfect and the lights of the port are pretty cool to if you haven’t ever seen them before.
- 5/5
This is our third time staying here and we are booked to go back next year. The owners are AMAZING. They will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and don’t have any needs. If you want a quiet family environment this is the place for you.
- 3/5
This property was clean. The workers were nice. It was a decent place for the price for one night. It was good. The area is kind of scary looking, but you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
In was clean and remodeled. The staff was helpful and friendly. The double bed was small but comfortable. Not in the best neighborhood but we enjoyed the Maya Mexican Restaurant nearby.
- 2/5
Lesson learned do research before booking & use goggle earth to see the neighborhood. NOT RECOMMENDED.
- 3/5
The property Was very clean just in a bad bad area with bobbed wire everywhere. There was a Mexican restaurant was amazing It was right down the road for $76. You can’t beat it just a place to sleep before we got on our cruise and wasn’t even 10 minutes from carnivals cruise port and owners were very nice.
- 5/5
I like how safe and quiet the place was and the parking was very convenient!
- 5/5
Very nice and polite. Clean and comfortable. Thanks
- 5/5
We checked in after 11pm. Very friendly. Street parking was only available in an industrial area. Older hotel but kept up. Beds were comfy. No elevator so we had to carry out luggage up but they did offer to help. Good for a quick stop to sleep and shower before our cruise out of Long Beach
- 5/5
The rooms are super comfortable, and the Staff and Owners are really welcoming
- 4/5
This is a very warm and cozy environment. Very welcoming Owners, the rooms are comfortable, and On site Laundry.
- 4/5
We chose this hotel because of the proximity to the pier. The managers were very helpful and there are a few good restaurants within walking distance. It’s a basic hotel but it met all our needs and more!
- 5/5
Very accommodating. Family is very nice and professional. Clean and quiet hotel.
- 5/5
Everything is good
- 4/5
Great one night stay before boarding a cruise. Had everything we needed. Staff was very nice and often asked if we needed anything.
- 1/5
Dirty paint, looks bad
- 5/5
Pretty building, kind staff that go above and beyond to make you feel at home, beautiful room.
- 5/5
The owners were very kind, everything was clean. The area was a quiet, with a few homeless people, but I felt safe as a solo female traveler. Shopping available 5 blocks away.
- 1/5
If I could give 0 stars I would. There was no parking and the area is awful. The worst part of all, I couldn’t even stay in the actual room I had booked and had to find another hotel last minute and pay triple the price because their front doors were locked and no one came to the door.
- 4/5
Incredibly warm staff, made sure I had everything I needed and was comfortable. Place is very clean, bright and cheery. Basic amenities, no bells and whistles but for a good night of sleep this is great. It’s located in a rough neighborhood but they have a small parking lot that they lock/secure at night so if you can get a spot there you’re better off than street parking, otherwise I don’t recommend leaving valuables in your car in this area. Hotel itself is very safe-feeling though, many cameras, attentive staff. I loved my stay here. Rooms have mini fridge, lobby has microwave. Large bathrooms with nice showers.
- 2/5
Check to make sure you booked a shared bathroom or not. Would have probably stayed if it was not shared. Otherwise, this place feels more like a hostel than a hotel. I wasn’t in the right mindset for it, the area is rough, and we decided to leave right away and take the $ loss. The owners were really sweet and the place was clean, just wasn’t the right choice for me.
- 5/5
It was an overnight stay, room very clean, comfortable and quiet. The only problem was the bathroom window didn’t have a curtain
- 2/5
The pictures of the site definitely hide the fact that it is in the middle of a very industrial area with almost no nearby accommodations for eating or groceries at all except a single liquor store in walking distance. The rooms had shared bathrooms with other neighboring rooms, and our sink was right at the foot of our bed. The staff, while polite, had very broken English so the most stressful part of our stay was figuring out payment because our Expedia payment for the room didn't go through to the hotel and the staff couldn't understand us enough to be helpful at all. I had to contact Expedia myself for a refund and repay for the room myself and the desk clerk just seemed to get frustrated at me when it was taking so long because I assumed they should have been the ones to resolve the issue.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Perfectly clean room
- 5/5
Very sketchy area but decent clean place.
- 5/5
I loved the atmosphere and nice stuff as well as the service. We had a good night sleep in small but charming room with lovely modern bathroom
- 5/5
good hospitality
- 5/5
My room had its own bathroom and from what I could tell so did the other rooms. (Some of the listings say shared bathroom.) The room and bed was clean except the floor was a bit sticky and left my socks dark on the bottoms. Never saw a bug and hardly saw another person aside from the hosts (who were so nice and sweet). There was a delicious restaurant around the corner— Maya Mexican Restaurant. It was within walking distance, but it’s up to you if you want to make that walk. With that being said, at night time the parking lot and outdoor seating areas are fenced in, creating a secure place to lounge and park at night. The building is only accessible by key as well, so it is a very secure and safe stay. Overall, this place is a good option for anyone needing an affordable and comfortable stay. If I found myself in the area again, I would not hesitate to choose the Anchor Pointe Inn again.
- 5/5
Very friendly and good service
- 5/5
Very welcoming and accommodating
- 4/5
Quiet, the building had allot of character and was well kept on the inside. It appeared a homeless person was living in an RV in the parking lot with junk spread all over the place. It wasnt a big deal, but gave me a negative impression when I first arrived. Interaction with employees was limited but positive. Very quiet. Price was great.
- 4/5
The stay was great! The rooms were clean and maintained well. The staff was friendly and kind, they were very helpful and informative of the places near by for food and coffee. In their review, I missed that they had a jack and Jill bathroom that shared with another room but luckily the room was not booked. It was a new experience for my wife and I. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
- 2/5
Basic motel/inn in an industrial area; this room had a private bathroom but without hot water; overall, the room and bathroom could use renovations/modernization
- 1/5
Place sucks
- 4/5
This is a convenient location to the port at a low price. It was very clean and property owners were friendly and welcoming. Got in late and left early so no need for other amenities. I will stay again. All rooms have private bath unlike what it says on Expedia.
- 5/5
Chris was an excellent host who provided information which made our stay pleasant. There was also another gentleman who came with us to ensure we find an eating establishment which was still open. It was a Mexican restaurant called Maya I believe. The Anchor Pointe Inn is an excellent location if you are going on a cruise.
- 5/5
Almost drove away because the hotel location looks rather sketchy. However, the couple who run this property were so warm and inviting it was hard to walk away. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. What more can you ask for in a budget property? Very glad we gave this place a chance. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
My first impression from outside not very good, old small building. But after I got inside, everything was all removed and very nice, our room was very nice and clean, bed was very comfortable, I slept very well. Not a lot of fancy extras but very nice for the price.
- 3/5
It is very clean
- 5/5
For being close to our port for our cruise it was comfortable, and personnel was friendly and very helpful. Very clean room with lots of room. Had a double bed but comfortable. Would recommend it to friends.
- 3/5
The bed is terrible. No elevators. Shared restrooms with neighbors.
- 4/5
Pros: The hosts were really nice. Only about 10-12 minutes from LB airport. This seemed family owned and it had a very cozy vibe. I loved that they had coffee when I got there and coffee in the morning. They have a nice waiting area with sofas and tv and board games. I like that the front door is secured and can only be opened from the inside or with a key from the outside. They have wifi and it is good for phone purposes(like if you use it on your phone). They have a little Mexican food spot right around the corner that me and my sister walked to (4 minute walk) I forgot the name but it was great and affordable 👌. Cons: Not the best neighborhood/area but it worked for me because I only stayed for one night. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable for me. The cable on the tv was on wifi or something I’m not sure but it kept going in and out and all the channels became inaudible, I couldn’t enjoy the show that I was watching at all had to turn the tv off. Also, the walls are very thin and to top it off my upstairs neighbor had a toddler who wouldn’t stop jumping up and down all over the place it was about 8:40 and went for about an hour 😩 but other than that no issues at all.
- 4/5
Perfect 1 night stay before our cruise. Clean hotel. Well managed. Would stay again. The only downside not many places to eat nearby unless you have a vehicle. But saying that we had a great evening and stay. Would stay again
- 5/5
nicely renovated, clean, cute little hotel. Staff is very friendly & helpful. secure parking. we will stay here again in the future
- 1/5
There is a reason they don’t show a single outside picture. This place is in a horribly unsafe area, and the guests are required to park on the street. We didn’t feel our car would be safe; so, we declined to stay. We were still build $267 for 3 days, and no refund was offered. Place is a rip off unsafe scam, and Expedia should be ashamed for even listing it.
- 5/5
a;ways a great nite here. perfect [lace for an overnite stay
- 5/5
Our stay at Anchor Pointe Inn was relaxing and enjoyable.
- 5/5
perfect!
- 5/5
Clean and friendly
- 5/5
I ended up leaving a valuable behind on accident, and by the time I realized it and called back, it had already been secured, and they kindly shipped it back to me multiple states away no charge! I'd already had a very pleasant stay, but I was so grateful for the kindness and trustworthiness displayed in helping me recover my things even after the stay. For those reasons and more, I definitely stay again! 10/10
