The Westin Austin Downtown

The bad: hotel lost power for no apparent reason for an hour or so. Elevator service was spotty at best The pool was way over crowded and filthy. The hotel doesn’t claim ownership of this pool even though it sits on their roof. They allow folks to come in that aren’t staying at the hotel which accounts for the overcrowding

I’ve stayed here a few times and always had a great experience so this bad stay was probably a one off. The valet said they would charge my car but they didn’t and they parked it on the street outside under a tree all night resulting in a bunch of bird poop (one whole side was covered in it). I’ll be honest in that I wasn’t expecting them to charge my car until they offered but if you say you’re going to do something just do it.

Everything was amazing about this hotel. The only thing is the pool is small, which is totally fine, but was a little murky even early in the afternoon. I just think it should be cleaned a little more often with the amount of traffic in and out for what we pay to stay at this wonderful hotel.

Honestly, I had mid-level expectations of this hotel. But I must admit that my expectations were exceeded. I am a stickler for cleanliness and the Westin was clean. We had a chance to enjoy the roof top pool/bar and the staff was friendly. I would definitely go back and/or recommend.

Westin was close to everything downtown. There is even a little food truck area right next to the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a small coffee bar at the restaurant that you can purchase coffee. There are other coffee options not too far.

The biggest issue was housekeeping. We had to repeatedly ask multiple times throughout the day just to get our room cleaned, even though we did NOT have the privacy tag on the door. It became frustrating having to constantly follow up for something that should have been routine. What made the experience worse was the condition of the lobby bathrooms. They were honestly disgusting. Trash and paper towels were overflowing onto the floor, and one of the toilets was left in an unsanitary condition. For a downtown hotel that markets itself as upscale, this was unacceptable and reflected very poorly on overall maintenance and cleanliness. The location is convenient, but unfortunately the service and cleanliness issues overshadowed the stay. I expected much better attention to detail and hospitality from a Westin property.

The biggest issue during our stay was the valet service. I understand hotels can get busy and handle a high volume of guests, but the wait times were extremely excessive and frustrating. We regularly use valet services when we travel and have honestly never experienced delays and customer service like this before. Communication was poor, the process felt disorganized, and getting our vehicle took far longer than expected multiple times during our stay. What made the experience even more disappointing was the lack of assistance with luggage. While unloading and loading our bags, the valet staff stood nearby watching without offering any help, yet it still felt like a tip was expected. We still tipped because we appreciate service industry workers, but the overall experience did not match the level of hospitality you would expect from a hotel in this price range. Overall, the hotel itself has potential, but the valet experience alone would make us think twice before staying here again.

Not as pet friendly as what you would want, partly because of the location in the city, but also just the feel of the place, unless your dog is tiny (can be carried), suggest not trying to bring them. My biggest concern was the fact that I booked with Expedia and got multiple double charges from the hotel. Took multiple calls with Expedia agents and multiple visits to the front desk before getting told it’s fixed, still awaiting “pending charges” to either undo or correct, so be careful checking your final bill. One of my dogs actually ate something dodgy from likely the many homeless people roaming the area and actually had a really scary episode inside the hotel so we left early, another reason to maybe just leave a dog at home.

The front desk customer service at the Westin Downtown Austin was amazing! Deja (I apologize if I misspelled your name) truly deserves recognition. She was incredibly polite, friendly, and took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns without hesitation. Her professionalism and positive attitude really took our experience over the top. Because of her excellent service, I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for making our stay even better!

The property was very clean and smelled so good. It was in a perfect location since my friend and I were going for NYE. Great view and walking distance from the bars and restaurant that we went to. Amazing and can’t wait to stay there again. There really wasn’t anything I didn’t like. Everything was 10!

Loved the location! It was in walking distance to everything or a short car ride The car parking is terrible . There’s no where to really park that’s accessible if you want to go exploring so you basically have to use their valet which compared to the room rates is exorbitant.

We didn’t have to leave. we had the rooftop bar. We had the oyster bar. The outside quest that was disruptive, the police beating on the door on our hall (not our room) was not discreet at all.

The hotel was in good condition but there was absolutely nothing special about it. As we were leaving our room for the day the housekeeper was in the hallway next to our room and about to make up our room next. My husband spoke to her in Spanish and told her how much we appreciated her and we gave her a tip and told her we would be out for the day. When we returned at 9pm NOTHING had been done to our room. She took the tip and ran. I can certainly make up our own bed but all of our towels were dirty and on the bathroom floor and we had to call down and wait for new towels. I know things happen and it’s a minor inconvenience but it’s that she took the tip and took off and didn’t do anything to our room. Then when we did get back to our room we had to listen to two dogs in the room next door bark nonstop for the next two hours until their owners returned. We called the front desk and they had already been made aware of the situation by someone else and were doing all they can but that combined with the dishonest housekeeper and the $75 per night valet is just enough for us to not visit again. We live in Houston and visit Austin 3-4 times a year and will be going back to the Fairmont on our next visits.

Not much the bat staff was AMAZING The communication was off and we didn’t have a working tv the entire stay. We felt no one really tried to help except at the end where it felt they were forced for compensate/ fix the problem.

The property is very nice and clean for the most part, the pool at the roof top was amazing. Also, where people don’t really look at was the guys that were getting the cars from valet were amazing. The room could’ve been a little bit cleaner like the shower for sure. The toilet leaked water when flushed. Location of the hotel is a no… if you’re not paying Valet, there’s no way to know where to park. Also, upon arriving, they kind of had trouble checking me in and the lady kind of judged my appearance because I was traveling I guess.

However, even from the 15th floor the building vibrated from the noise. It may have been quieter on other side but was told moving wasn't a good idea as they had construction on that side. The restaurant was average. The cocktail pool rooftop bar was really nice except they blast AI music everywhere so you can't even have a quiet conversation (at least pick a chill Buddah Bar vibe if you must). Since the bar was mostly middle age couples and up looking for some quiet after a day in Austin the least they could do is turn it down a notch or play real music. It has the potential to be really nice if so.

The beds were full of dog hair. My wife and Daughter is allergic to certain dogs and instantly got itchy and turn red and had to take a Benadryl. There was also a couple brown stains on the blanket and when we lifted up the blanket there was human hair too. The bed was nicely made but it seemed like they didn’t even change the sheets or blankets. The towels also had a smell to them. Front desk was nice enough to cancel our stay! When we was checking out we waited for an hour to get our car from the vallet as it was super busy.

Buyer beware… there is no parking onsite and it is a valet only site. Overnight rate for one day is 80 dollars and 22 dollars for an hour. We did not expect this upon arrival. The only other parking is in a garage a few blocks away. Won’t be staying here again for this exact reason.

Great property and staff!! We Had a great stay! There isn’t any parking but the valet for 69.00 is nice, with in and out privilege. And they are dog friendly, my girls liked the city view from the room. Maybe only a bark or two at the scary crane!! The condition of the property was disappointing considering it was a Westin. Bed was very creaky, bathroom shower had a crack in the floor. Shower door broken so water leaked outside. Toilet was finicky to flush.

Perfect location to explore Austin. Heart of downtown walking distance to 6th St. We appreciated that there was entertainment/pool party at the hotel while we were there. There was construction taking up most of the lobby while there so we were unable to experience it. We did have some billing issues that were eventually resolved regarding room service. Nice stay!

Not very clean for a highly regarded hotel. We found a bug in our bathroom. Bathrooms by the rooftop pool stank, dirty. Mattress not too comfortable. Booked if for the rooftop pool pictures we saw on the Internet but in person the size was an oversized hot tub. So lame . It is our fault we didn’t know that this hotel is more an adult stay and not very kid friendly. Scantily clad bathing suits showing big butts and almost naked. Needless to say we didn’t enjoy any amenities. Valet is $67 . I guess not shocking for Austin; but it wasn’t worth the money . The only good thing about it is it’s downtown and can walk to most restaurants .

The two night ladies that worked the front desk on Friday, May 16th, were exceptional. Very friendly, helpful, and made our stay more enjoyable. One of their names was Lydia and I cannot remember the other ladies name but they were fantastic.

The only thing subpar that I can say about our stay is that the reservation was not showing up in their system, even though I had the Expedia confirmation number. It took us about 45 minutes to finally get the key to the last room they had. Westin did give us free breakfast passes to use the next morning as an apology for the room delay. Once we got to the room, my daughter had to do a video room tour. LOL. It was very spacious, and the view was great. It had all the comforts...big fluffy comforters, mini fridge, microwave, rain head shower, coffee maker, etc. We will definitely be staying here again!

The hotel is now looking dated and need a refresh. The location is great and the staff are very friendly. Asking for a quiet room didn't help. The cleaning staff crash and bang their way through the rooms like a herd of elephants!

Staff were attentive. Location is great and near many restaurants. Roof top has a wonderful view.

We went as a party of couples to celebrate my girlfriend‘s birthday. We ended up booking three rooms. One room was overcharged. The second room was not the room booked and given and our room the third, which should’ve been ready by 3 PM was not given to us till almost 8 o’clock in the evening. In the end, they apologized only gave us free valet for the time being no apologies no sincerity, and that the fact that they overbooked and made a complete human error on their end and we all left completely dissatisfied considering the amount of money we paid to stay there.

Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Rooftop pool was on the smaller side, but the overall experience up there was very nice. Plenty of seating away from the pool if you just wanted to enjoy the view from the 20th floor.

The bed was not as comfortable as I have experienced in other Weston hotels.

Cold and sterile. Broken telephone, had to go in to order room service (that’s no longer room service). Outrageous parking and room service fees.

I attended a conference in Austin. The hotel is centrally located and I only walked 3 blocks to the conference. I felt safe, the streets are semi-clean, but the hotel provided a great location for my stay. I would definitely stay there again!

Night time valet was horrible , front desk was rude and there was a language barrier I asked questions in English and would just get answered “yes yes”

Staff was very professional and very welcoming. Loved the hospitality. The room was very comfortable and we loved the bed, even baby loved it. We really enjoyed the rooftop pool as well. Staff all around was great!

Was a great experience.

Rooftop bar very nice, but not a full bar so drinks were limited. No microwave in room which was disappointing since I had brought leftovers with me. Restroom door didnt have a lock, only sliding door. Room was supposed to be soundproof, but I could still hear people talking in the hallway. Valet parking was $69 a night so I paid $140 for 2 days for parking. Overall nice hotel, but probably won't stay there again.

Hotel was your classic Westin - Clean, spacious, welcoming, premium feeling etc. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the extortionate cost of its valet parking, which is the only real option when you travel by car with heavy suitcases. $69 a night! Wouldn’t have stayed here if I knew this in advance.

I love this property

It was a lovely hotel with lots of cool things to do in the area. There was, however, a population of transients that for a reason I cannot explain made it somehow to feel a bit unsafer.

Homeless standing out front begging for money and following my daughters volleyball team down the street is bad.
