    This hotel needs to be closed and fully renovated. It’s so worn down and just dirty. The carpet smells and the air conditioners so loud you couldn’t even hear the tv. There’s a reason it’s cheap but it’s not worth it.

    We really enjoyed our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina. We were in town for a graduation and were glad we chose something a little removed from campus. The waterfront setting made it feel like a relaxing retreat, and César Chávez Park right next door was a wonderful spot for a morning jog. In the evenings, we enjoyed the fire pits, and the indoor pool was a nice bonus. Our room was simple, clean, and comfortable. While the furnishings felt a bit dated, everything was very well maintained and spotless. My only complaint is the parking fee. At $45 per night plus taxes and fees, it ended up costing nearly $50 per night, which felt excessive. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.

    I loved the atmosphere. It was lively and the staff, as well as the guests, were very friendly. I took a walk out to the trail along the bay, past the marina and the lovely boats. All in all, a very good visit, our first, and we will stay again.

    This is a great place to stay in an area that frankly doesn’t have a lot of really good hotels. The grounds around the marina are beautiful and there are a couple of good restaurant/bars both inside the hotel and nearby. The staff is exceptional and the rooms, while dated, are clean and comfortable.

    When I went to extend my reservation for Monday night, I was met with a level of incompetence that was genuinely shocking for a Hilton property. 2staff members at the front desk could not locate my reservation,despite the fact that I had already been a guest the previous night. They avoided eye contact throughout, refused to explain what the problem was, and then simply walked away in the middle of my check-in without a word. A third staff member, who was kind and professional, stepped in and ultimately resolved the situation. Incident 2 – Tues, June 9, approximately 3:30–4:45 AM: A Safety Failure I was woken in the early hours of the morning by a loud altercation in the hotel courtyard. This was not a quiet dispute in a private hallway or a hotel room, it was a fight involving many people, in the open courtyard, yet no hotel staff noticed. No security intervened. I called the front desk multiple times with no answer. When someone finally picked up, it took another ten minutes for security to arrive, and another 20min. to resolve the situation. The sleeplessness itself was bad enough, my daughter had an important interview at 8:30 AM that same morning! What disturbed me most was the realization: if this could happen in the middle of an open courtyard, with multiple people, at full volume, and no one from the hotel noticed or responded, what kind of security they have? I've asked 3 times to talk to the maager about this with no luck

    Location was nice and away from all the business. Parking was super easy $45 nightly. The beds were decent. However, the pillows were very uncomfortable and the ac never got our room cold enough at night. The water was hot and the kids loved the pool.

    The property and rooms were beautiful. The woman at check in was so sweet and friendly. I wish I had her name so I could let her know just how awesome she is and how valuable she is to the organization. The main problem I had was I feel like the price to park was excessive ($45 per day) and the WiFi had a charge of $4.95 if you didn’t want basic mediocre service. With what people pay to stay there, the hotel could take better care of their guests.

    Not to much. Rooms are dated and dreary. Not updated in years. Toilet are not optimal and need to upgraded. Tubs drip and not easy to turn on and off. Beds was good. Bathroom was a nightmare and customer service was pleasant after I complained to corporate and Booking.com.

    This is a beautiful place to stay across the bay from San Francisco. The hotel is well maintained and had a great staff. I would recommend pay for the parking. Where you could park for free there are restrictions. Easy access to highways for heading north to Napa or the Redwoods, south to Oakland or back across the bay to San Francisco.

    Such a pleasant place to stay. The bed is so comfy and they have lots of drawers and plenty of hangers for your clothes. The pool and jacuzzi are the perfect temp. We had fun playing a game with some guests we met. The only thing I think that would be better a if they had free coffee, tea and hot chocolate. It’s a small perk that goes a long way.

    It’s in the middle of everything. There’s no Internet connection on level three I had to come out my room and go all the way down the hall every time I want some kind of Internet connection Wi-Fi, which I had to use because there’s no service in that area. It’s a dead zone. I was not able to do what I needed to do. I had to go to coffee shops or to the lobby to get work done when I wanted to get work done and relax.

    Stay ok air made some noise hard to sleep ar night. no water pressure had to keep asking for towels when we were three and would leave two only. Restaurant closed at 10 am had to drive for late breakfast staff was not hotel friendly.

    The views were great! But the hotel was older and they shut everything down before 10 p.m. So if you were hoping to spend the evening by one of the fire pits they shut them off on a Friday night at 9:45 and take your cushions away by 9:15. The lobby is a lot more updated than the rooms.

    Good, clean, quiet stay. Staff is very helpful. But, if you park on the property, it cost $40. Had to park across the street to get "free" parking. No "free" breakfast that I was made aware of. There is a McDonald located nearby in a fairly safe area. If you have to stay in that area, it is probably as good as it gets. So B+

    This hotel looks fine from the lobby but the rooms are filthy and run down. When we entered our room there were several flies flying around, the linens look so worn and overused, and there was a musty smell. We checked out within an hour of checking in. Expedia agreed to refund us if the hotel was amenable to a refund but the manager refused. He was also very short and curt, and the Expedia agent said the manager hung up on him when he called them.

    The place is clean and a nice change from the hustle and bustle of Berkeley downtown. The surrounding area is nice and one can take a convenient bus to the university. However, the hotel wing where I slept was rather dated. If you expect a shiny new hotel, this place could use some updates. It is clean but everything is quite old.

    Our room was very small and, honestly, furniture, paint, etc had seen better days. The room was clean. The bathroom very small and dated with a very low ceiling. Unpleasant. The wifi was pretty bad, 2 bars. Phone calls from our room would drop and we had to go to the lobby for adequate phone service. The air conditioning would not maintain to keep the room cool at night, and despite setting the temp at 66 degrees, we woke up numerous times through the night, overly hot and sweating. The thermostat measured 72 each time and we would have to reset it at 66 to have it provide cooling air for a short time before going off. The temp would then climb again to 72. Very frustrating. We have stayed at the Doubletree multiple times in the past, but decided after this stay that we will not book again in the future.

    I have stayed at this hotel about three times in the last five months. It is my go to place whenever I need to do anything in Oakland. I feel safe here. I love the staff. I love the convenience of checking in. The rooms have been clean. The staff is super friendly here. I feel it’s very affordable considering where it’s located. I have tried the restaurant which is also great. I’ve had their lunch, breakfast and dinner. My most recent day was a pleasant one and I know I’ll be back again.

    1. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. As a result, the fabric shower curtain never dried and had an offensive moldy odor. 2. There was a malfunctioning flickering bulb in the bathroom. 3. No sheer curtain for patio door. As a result, we had no privacy. There was a track for it, but no effort was made to replace it. 4. No screen door to patio. 5. The sliding patio door kept falling off its track, making it difficult to move, and to lock. 6. Poorly staffed reception causing long waits. 7. Boathouse restaurant had superb food. But. could have better wine selections.

    My husband became ill difficult debris. We had to go to the hospital. I had to get medication. as a result, the room had mold in it. Please see the pictures I did complain. I was promised a for refund, by Jabari the manager, I was referred to the rooms manager, Romel I never was able to speak with him. He never returned my calls. I did open up a case with Hilton and I also reported it to Booking.com. This has been going on since 10 May. I have yet to hear back from anyone and then now I’m told that my case has been closed I want to know what the results were based on why please see the pictures of the condition of the room and my house my husband’s hospital visit

    Parking is expensive, about $50 ($45+ tax?,and there aren’t any other options to park.The pool area and shower were very dirty.The carpet inside the room wasn’t vacuumed properly, and you could see a lot of stains.The elevator smelled like old iron without fan .The only good things were the view and the breakfast, which was very fresh and delicious.

    I liked that it was by the water. Staff was nice and area was clean. I didn't like that it offered you free breakfast but if you sat in the dining area, you felt obligated to tip. Usually when I choose a hotel and it says free breakfast especially a hot breakfast, it is self served. Although we did get that option but the only hot breakfast offered was a hot burrito which I have gluten allergies.

    Other than the fact that the whole building #2 floors are uneven, the floors feel like they are about to fail through and like you are slanted and on uneven floor in your room, it was a nice stay. The parking is expensive for what the property is. The location of the hotel is everything though. It has walking trails along it and a beautiful view of the bay on the trail. The room was at a good price for a Sunday night on the holiday weekend. I would come back as long as I stay in a different building probably.

    I thought that the property was really nice. We used the pool, hot tub, and sauna, which was excellent. I booked the trip for my graduation to spend good quality time with my family. Unfortunately, while my car was parked in the lot, my license plates were stolen from my car, which was really frustrating, considering you have to pay to keep your car in the lot. I reached out to multiple staff, letting them know what happened, and have not heard a response. I had to spend the majority of the last morning that I wanted to spend with my family at the DMV waiting for plates, so I could safely drive my family members to and from the airport without getting pulled over for not having plates. This incident just put a damper on my graduation celebration and time with my family.

    The Berkeley Marina Doubletree is on the Bay in a convenient location to UC Berkeley, but has been run down over the years and is need of a room refresh and grounds makeover. The local adjacent parking lot was full of transient RV's and people living in the vehicles. However, the local parks appeared safe during daylight with many visitors and locals enjoying the area.

    The location is great! The are dog friendly and we could stay with our two dogs with no issues. There are walkways around the property and dog bag dispensers as well which is great. Hotel is not up to date anymore, rooms need to be remodeled urgently. It’s okay to spend a weekend there but don’t expect anything great. Everything is on the bare minimum side. Bathrooms doesn’t even have an exhaust fan. While the obvious like sheets and surfaces seemed clean, when you look closer you will find deep cleaning is overdue; in our case the mirror frame hasn’t been cleaned for a while as well as the vents. Carpet was dirty in the corners too. The elevator system must be old too- we heard noise the entire stay every couple minutes - bring your earplugs to be able to sleep when you are sensitive. $45 per day for self parking seems very high for the quality of the hotel.

    We appreciated how helpful the staff was. We had the valet park out car & later on realized they might not be open when we needed to leave the following morning. We let the valet attendant know & they made sure to have our vehicle out front the next morning, ready for us. The room was clean and the beds & pillows were comfy.

    Great location. Outside fire places were nice. Staff at check in were very nice. Rooms smelled like body odor. Not sure if it was coming from bedspread or carpet. We opened the sliding door to help with the smell but there wasn’t a screen so the bugs started coming in and we had to close it. Shower and sink drains seemed clogged because it was taking a while for the water to go down. They ran out of coffee in the morning in the lobby and we had to wait a while for them to bring new coffee.

    Breakfast was great, I liked that it was made fresh to order instead of a buffet style breakfast. Hotel grounds were taken care of, nice plants and view of the marina. Staff was polite and helpful. Beds were very comfortable and having a little balcony to step out on was wonderful. Our room had the adjoining door for large groups, and the doors are a bit thin, so early in the morning I was awoken to screaming children. Not really a big deal, but could be bothersome to some guests. It's not mentioned anywhere on the website (that I found) that to park your car there is a 45 dollar fee which could be a shock to some. I knew ahead of time by reading other travelers reviews. There is space to park across the road from the parking lot, so that is definitely an option as well.

    Swimming pool and fitness area was nice 45$ plus tax have to pay for parking. We got a room in building 4, smell of bleach was terrible and asked to change room and got in building 3 and was ok. Corridors, lifts, doors and carpets, are old, smelly and outdated. If it would be a motel and cheaper price would be ok, but not expecting that from 4 star hotel. Girl at reception waste a lot of time and couldn't add parking to the room card. At the end of the day at their restaurant had to wait a long time to be served and fish and chips order was with outdated fish. I am not picky, done road trip from Phoenix through Las Vegas to California, but here was the worst experience.

    When we first drove up we thought it looked really fancy, valets and the entrance of lobby was immaculate but once you get into the rooms a lot of cobwebs on the ceiling and its not just our room, we had to switch to a different room and same cobwebs on this one. The sliders doors need some WD-40 because they are so hard to open and enjoy the balcony(again on both rooms) The hotel seems to want to make themselves look like this lavish hotel in the beginning but once you get to the rooms if feels like you're staying in a whole different hotel. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi were nice.

    The first room we checked into heavily smelled of marijuana. I called the front desk and was switched to a different room right away however that room also had a musty smell to it and there were flies flying around the room all night.     The location was nice because it was far enough away from the traffic that it was quiet. The price on Booking.com was about seventy dollars less expensive than when we went to the hotel and asked the price for the same room. Free cookie at check in. The lobby and self serve food area smelled like urine. The corridors are sloped and smell like dirty socks. The rooms are outdated and not maintained. Stains on curtains, furniture, and walls. Furniture was dirty and rotting. No toilet seat cover. Parking in the hotel is forty dollars and mandatory, even though there is ample free public parking just outside but signs say any vehicles left overnight will be towed. ?

    We opted for the 430 sq ft room, which offered plenty of space plus a balcony. The balcony was facing the over-priced parking, so it was nothing to enjoy. We were in building 4. Walking to building 4 with our luggage from the lobby was like going through a maze. You can ultimately park next to your building. The indoor pool and gym are nice. The grounds are well-kept. The free cookies at check-in were delicious.

    The hotel restaurant was wonderful. Sitting right in the corner with views of the marina and sight of the Golden Gate bridge was idyllic. The food was delicious and the wait staff were so professional. The park next to the hotel was perfect for walking around and seeing the beautiful views. The hotel is older and dated but the surrounding area was well worth. It was just a short uber drive to San Francisco sites.

    Obvious water damage in our bathroom. Door and vanity were never been replaced and ceiling was in very poor shape. Also, the dresser door was in need of repair. If it wasn’t for the location (we booked a fishing charter for my kids 13th birthday) I’d never stay here again. $45.00 for self parking wasn’t mentioned when I booked either. Overall I’d give the whole experience a 4 out of 10.

    Also, when I entered the room there was an unpleasant smell. I had to open the balcony and go for a walk to air out the room. The door to the small balcony barely opened. By the way, there was no tulle on them, only blackout curtains. That is, everything in your room is visible from the balcony opposite. The hotel has a restaurant, but breakfast is charged separately. If you pay for breakfast when booking your room, you will only be able to choose 1 dish from the menu that costs $22 or less. So don't order breakfast when booking a room. You can have breakfast in the same restaurant or visit other cafes in the city nearby. What was even more outrageous was that we had to pay $45 for parking separately for one night! We were only informed about this when we checked out!

    The check-in process was not great. We had stayed here before so were surprised by this most recent experience. The line was long and staff members few so it took over half an hour. The room number on the key sleeve was not written well so the keys did not open the door we thought was our room. We went back to the front desk and another person recoded the keys. Went back to the room; opened the door; and found it was occupied by someone else. Fortunately, no one was in. We were so horrified that we opened someone else's door. Went back to the front desk a third time and that was when they discovered the room number on the sleeve was not well written. They also did not assign us a room with the view of the marina, as we had requested and paid for. So after three tries, we finally got the right room. The property needs upgrades and while the location is great, we would not likely return again. Thanks.

    We like the location but the room was small and for people with disabilities the shower head was to close to the wall and it made it uncomfortable to take a shower the balcony was facing the parking lot so we hat to keep the curtains close for privacy

    The beds were outstandingly comfortable along with the bedding. However the door to the balcony was visibly out of square which let us know the property is aging, and the sofa chair in the room was not comfortable at all, the cushion sloped noticeably forward making the chair very uncomfortable to sit in. However, this is the 4th time my husband and I have stayed at your hotel in the last 11 months and we really do like staying at the Doubletree! The location is fantastic, we get a great night sleep and the rooms are always clean and your staff is always very friendly and helpful.

    The parking sucks, I tried to go on a walk outside and there was a homeless man trying to get in, the elevator felt like it was going to collapse every time you’d get in, the place feels old and definitely needs renovations, the map was a little confusing and I had to go to the front desk because my key wasn’t working, it felt like a motel more than a hotel, they also didn’t tell me in advance before booking that they will charge you 200 dollars when you check in just in case there are any damages and they reimburse it to you after you check out, the staff was great and helpful, I called the front desk at 12 am to request toothpaste and I got it in less than 5 minutes which is nice considering the walk is long. The issue is with the administration of the place, not the employees. They seriously need to fix that parking lot and renovate the buildings in general

    Since my daughter started going to UC Berkeley, we've stayed here five or six times. The more often we stay, the more it feels like home. !!!Sometimes I expect a problem. (that's becoming more normal these days as customer service diminishes before our eyes.) Even at other Hilton locations! -not here so far- I don't think the hotel knows how often I frequent their establishment, or who I am, other than a being Hilton honors member. They simply treat me with the same respect and service consistently. every time.

    I stayed in two different rooms on this stay. The first bed was great. The second bed sagged. The tub in the second room was chipped all over and was much past its expiration date. Not what I wanted to soak in after a tiring day. This is an older property that has gone through partial upgrades, more are required. I booked on Expedia and chose this hotel because breakfast was included. When I went to breakfast, it turned out I was not on the breakfast list. It is not clear how to confirm breakfast when booking on the site. I ended up paying full price, and there was nothing front desk could do. When checking out, my room card stopped working and I was caught in a downpour between buildings. As mentioned, you must wind your way through connecting buildings to get to and from your room and the lobby. If you are doing so on the ground floor, you must exit one building and connect to the next one outside. I ended up hauling my luggage through the pouring rain as I circled the property to get to the lobby. I will book more carefully next time to avoid the issues described. Positive points: the staff were nice and the restaurant served good food.

    Easy checkin. Building #4 is really run down. Our room had not been vacuumed (there were coins on the floor. The luggage stand was broken, so we asked for a new one and it was brought fairly quickly by housekeeping. I’ve stayed here before 3-4 times. It just seems to be poorly maintained. Restaurant service and food were good though!

    The location was incredible! Great view of harbor & city skyline. Hotel charges extra for everything! My wife and I each had two mocktails at the bar and paid $66. A glass of Pepsi was $8. Two cups of coffee in the morning cost us $14. Two ice creams cost us $12, and parking is an additional $30 per day. Nice place but plan on paying extra for the incidentals.

    Pros: The rooms are clean- I commend the cleaning staff, they are so friendly and accommodating!! amenities like the heated pool/spa, water refill station, and self serve laundry, warm cookies (ask for an allergen friendly one if needed!!). The hotel is also pet friendly. Could be improved: Some of the staff (not all) are unhelpful and seem to lack hospitality skills (like making effort to make sure guest requests are accommodated in a timely manner, if at all. If you bother them enough you’ll eventually get what you need) and overall the property is in need of some TLC and upgrades/remodel. The hallways have multiple spots where the ceiling is falling and wet from the rain. Parking price of $40 a night is extortionate. In closing: The location is beautiful with scenic views of the bay and walking trail/park right off the parking lot, there are a lot of great things about this hotel and the property, but it definitely needs some TLC and staff who care more about the customer experience (or maybe their job in general).

    I have stayed at the Hilton Berkeley Marina about 10 times in the last 3-4 years. The entire place is looking a little worn out and has a musty smell especially in the public corridors. My biggest issue is the front desk. In order to get internet, you need to sign in with Hilton Honors which I have. I asked the front desk to associate my Hilton honors code which they never did in the 48 hours I was there. In addition, we asked for a tube of toothpaste. We were told it would be delivered to our room but it never arrived.

    Staff are awesome. Check in was incredibly busy but the staff got everyone cared for quickly. The rooms are spacious if a little dated but value for money and a billion dollar view.

    I just wish you could find the valet without having to wait to ask front desk staff or dropping your keys off with them when you return. Othen than that, my stay was uneventful as always. The staff is kind and attentive. The food in the restaurant is good and so was the service. They are closed for lunch, which was a surprise.

    Check-in was easy, but parking is hideously expensive and our balcony was covered in bird feces. Our coffee maker was missing its brew basket, and the breakfast buffet wasn’t a buffet at all. You get $22 worth of credit at the restaurant, and the restaurant has the audacity to charge $22 for a breakfast sandwich.

    The DoubleTree by Hilton is quite outdated, and the rooms are in need of upgrading. The air conditioning did not work properly, and my room felt consistently damp, which was uncomfortable during my stay. I was also disappointed that I did not receive the signature DoubleTree chocolate chip cookies. To access the pool, you have to walk outside for a few seconds, which is not ideal, especially in bad weather. The restaurant experience was decent, the food was amazing, but service could be slow at times. Overall, I was surprised that this hotel is part of the Hilton brand. That being said, it is worth the money for the price, the location is excellent, and the hotel offers some great amenities and views!

    Nice welcome at check in. Clean and tasteful room furnishings. Hot tub was out of commission but sauna was hot and the pool warm. The walk along the shoreline with views of the City was a highlight.

    Also, around 10:20pm there were guests screaming and fighting in the hallway and I tried to call the front desk 3 times to call for security and no one would answer. It was alarming and concerning that no one would answer the phone while a chaotic situation was happening in front of our door. I noticed there aren't any cameras in the hallway either. The parking: The parking situation is awful. Not only is there a $40 charge per night for parking, but it's difficult to enter/exit due to an outdated system. The "tap your room key to exit/enter" feature is extremely flawed, myself and other guests had trouble getting our keys to work and it caused a multiple car back up as people were trying to enter or exit the parking lot.     I wanted to share feedback regarding my stay, as my experience included both positive and disappointing moments. First, I would like to say that check-in was great. The lady who assisted me was very welcoming, professional, and made the process smooth. I truly appreciated her kindness and service. However, once I entered my room, I noticed an issue where the lights continuously went on and off. This was confusing and uncomfortable, as I did not understand why this was happening. Later, during breakfast, I had an unsatisfactory experience with the server, Maraki. I specifically ordered a ham and cheese breakfast sandwich, but instead I was given an egg and ham omelette, which I did not ask for. When I questioned what happened to my order and explained again what I wanted, she attempted to hand me a menu even though I had already clearly stated my order. When I tried to discuss the issue further, she walked away to assist other guests without resolving my concern. When she returned, I asked her to take back the food I did not order and requested fresh fruit instead. Unfortunately, the fruit was not fresh either. Paying $42.07 for a meal that was incorrect, unsatisfactory, and accompanied by poor communication and rudeness was very disappointing. Additionally, I was unaware that I would be charged for Lyft drop-off assistance.     Needs a little detailing. I could see stains on the frame of the bathroom mirror and other imperfections like the old comforter underneath the sheets. Receptionist took long time and had to go to “the back” because our reservation was through Expedia. I wasn’t expecting to pay off $100 deposit. Didn’t appreciate that “hidden” since there was nothing about it on my reservation details. Old facilities well kept, excellent views of the marina with green areas and delicious and big breakfast servings. Excellent staff, friendly, helpful and courteous. Would love to be back one day.     This might be a strange review bc we really loved many aspects of the hotel, but there were some problems. Staff was friendly and helpful. The staff at the restaurant/bar were wonderful. We stayed on the first floor and the carpet was wet from the rain. It had a stinky throughout. They did try to fix this by having towels and fans. We understand Mother Nature is out of their control. The room was comfy as well as the beds. We had no hot water for both days we stayed. We had to take cold showers. We did let them know (and they said other guests as well) and that their engineers were working on it. We left for a day of exploring. That night, the water was warm and cold again the next morning. There was also an incident with a guest and paramedics, fire and police arrived. Again, out of the control of the hotel, but it happened to be in our hallway and they used to caution tape to keep guests out. We weren’t able to return to our room (but luckily we had taken a walk and had everything we needed to head into town and didn’t need to return at that time). The location of the hotel is awesome. The views are beautiful, perfect for morning walks. The restaurant had delicious food (we ate their both nights) and the drinks were good as well. We loved the coziness of the fire place inside and outside as well. We will definitely return in the future and are sure things will be better.

    Great hotel. Unfortunately Jacuzzi was not working and was broken. Pool was crowded with kids/toddlers swimming as late as 10:00pm. I had to ask couple of time for towels at the swimming pool as there were not enough. It would be great if the hotel would limit the kids use of pool to 8:00pm.

    Property and rooms weren't maintained well, front desk wasn’t easily reachable and had to be connected by HHonors customer service, and the room service wasn’t regular and to the point staff ignored the request to clean the room after multiple reminders directly and through front desk. Manager tried to correct the situation by arranging cleaning later in the evening but it was hogwash. I will never stay in this property again and will not recommend to any of my family or friends.

    I will not stay at this hotel again. Rooms are badly in need of an upgrade, thin walls and uncomfortable bed. When my car was brought from valet it was clear that the attendant had just finished smoking, my car reeked of cigarette smoke. Overall a very disappointing stay.
