It was awful! When me and my daughter arrive from a basketball tournament. They told us our reservation was canceled due to no electricity. There was no call no email letting us know ahead of time. So we had no place to stay in Chicago. Not in a good part of town. I would never go to this place. There was no help empathy or sympathy from the front desk guy, he just said your reservation was canceled because we had no electricity horrible!

I checked in during a sold-out weekend in Chicago and paid nearly the same price I later paid at a much nicer DoubleTree, which made this experience even more disappointing. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt uncomfortable and unsafe. The hallways, rooms, and overall condition of the property gave very little confidence in cleanliness or upkeep. I refused to sleep under the hotel sheets and ended up using my own blanket and pillow from home just to feel comfortable enough to rest. The parking lot activity was strange, guests appeared to be lingering around in ways that felt unsettling, and at one point I noticed the lobby ATM was literally unplugged. That alone should tell you everything. The overall vibe felt less like a hotel and more like a place people were just passing through temporarily with no management presence or standards being enforced. I checked out early because my peace of mind matters more than “making it work.” If you are traveling alone, with family, or for business, I strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere. There are far better options in the same price range.

Why this property: needed a place to stay overnight passing through Chicago. The places downtown charge more for parking overnight than this place does for the room, so staying ~5-10 miles outside downtown didn't seem like a bad idea. If circumstances were different, I would not choose this place. However, this place fell a bit short of what I expected from Days Inn, hence 2 stars. Drive in. The property is located in Calumet park. The surroundings seemed a little beaten down, but not unsafe. Around Chicago, this is within what one might expect, Check-in was good. The staff were helpful and asked us to repark where they could see our car on the security camera. Room cleanliness. Beds and sheets were clean. Bathroom and countertop in the bathroom were clean. Carpet in the room, headboards, side chair were **not **clean or dusted. We chose to not use them. Prompted a bug check and beds were fine. Condition of property. Like the neighborhood, the property looks beaten down. Doors, walls and elevators were looked old and worn. The bathroom had major amounts of caulk/putty around the sink, indicating intent of maintenance on the cheap. The bathroom door could not be locked. Staff was friendly and offered coffee when I went down to ask for a bar of soap :-) I've stayed at other Days Inns in better condition, but kudos to the staff to make the most of what the property offers.

There is nothing good in this place. My stay at this place was the worst hotel experience I've ever had in the United States. The place smells terrible, the beds and pillows are old, I stayed two days and they never made the bed, the customer service is awful, they promise breakfast that doesn't exist, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Don't go.

First off, it's under renovation. Even without the renovation, the place is totally deplorable from A to Z! The place should be condemned! I already talked to someone about the situation!
- 1/5
Walked in to two homeless in the lobby and the front desk agent behind bullet proof glass. Elevator was shaking more than a normal and making noises that made me worried. Got to our floor and hall lights were flickering. Inside the room the TV didn’t work, there was wires sticking out of the wall near the floor from an old phone jack, you couldn’t see through the peep hole, there was old McDonald’s left jn the microwave from the previous guests and hair in the shower. I cleaned my own room. I heard noises all night and on more than one occasion it sounded like someone was attempting to open the door. I had to shove tissue into the peep hole worried. We were supposed to stay two nights and only were there one. We were out by 7:30. We booked here for the complimentary breakfast- which didn’t exist. It was coffee only and was told that they are working on updating online but they don’t do breakfast. Forgot something so called to check if it was there- they told me to call back 4 hours later. Tried multiple times and no one answered. Had to drive back and search floors till I found an employee. 0/10 do not recommend.

was there but no detector, asked about, told one would be put in, was not done. 5 nights maid only came in once to empty garbage only. Pictures on site shows much nicer, cleaner rooms that we had. Mold in bathroom, and very old counters with burn marks and caulking missing in many spots. Guy at the front counter did not seem to really care that we were not happy with our room.

The location was terribly run down, looked almost abandoned and when there was no one to be seen in the lobby - which was poorly lit and void of all furniture, we opted to take the loss on $$ and left to find a different hotel. Photos/website are nowhere close to the condition this location was
- 1/5
1st these hotel looks nothing like advertised. There was police was a station outside and inside for security. The lobby had no furniture it smelled of strong chemicals. The room was old the carpet was dirty the chairs in the room were stained and peeling so was the headboard.. the dresser was filled with cigarette burns the lights didn’t work. The bathroom was a step above public bathroom. The shower curtain to small and more burns on the counter. No soap the black out curtains was nonexistent. And last but not least it was Roaches. I felt it was unsafe the people in other room was up at 6 am playing extremely loud music in hallways. It so much more to say but that suns it up.
- 1/5
Super dirty
- 1/5
It is a horrible hotel, I thought since it was a chain hotel was going to be good just far, but is not only located in a really really shady zone of Chicago, we also felt unsafe within the hotel, the room smell to cigarettes, even though they wanted to charge us 20 DLS more for a smoke free room, when the hotel was listed as smoke free, the hotel offers breakfast in Expedia and their website, but they don’t have it available, not even a bottle of water. The room seems dirty, there was not even soup available, the AC was really loud, please don’t book this hotel, by any chance, I don’t think the reviews do it justice as to how horrible it actually is.
- 3/5
This is normally my go to place when I do my staycations , however this time I was with put tv for 2 1/2 days as they said it was due to the weather. I received no accommadations or anything. I dont believe thats good business. As a customer they should have took ownership and offered us somthing for the inconvience , like who wants to be in a room and cant watch tv
- 5/5
Always my go to spot
- 1/5
This is the worst place every we stayed. I don't know how expedia listed this property on their website. very ditty room full of cigarette, vaping smell. Very old room, had holes in walls, dirty furniture, we were scared for bed bugs. I can go on and on about how bad the place is... The AC wasnt working in the room, they need to swap the unit. Very unpleasant, miserable, terrible experience...
- 1/5
No breakfast available which was a big factor when I chose a hotel. So false advertising on that one. Furniture in the room literally falling apart. No room service the whole time I was there despite multiple signs in the hotel including in the bathroom stating they would provide clean sheets and towels each day. And roaches running around the room. NOT a safe area AT ALL. Three cars were broken into the first night I was there.
- 1/5
Highly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The whole place was dirty. The vending machines had no lights and only a handful of stock in them. In our room, there was black mold in the fridge, the bathroom was not clean (the bottom of the bathtub was pretty grey from other people's dirt (ew). The carpet had crumbs and stains all over it.The wifi doesnt work and direct tv didnt want to start at first. We had the tv on the whole time because we didnt know it would work later on and our last day we watched tv on our phone. Its not in the best part of town, 2 cars were broken into during our stay so take out everything you possibly can. It was advertised there would be breakfast. There was no breakfast. Overall it was a place to stay but you WILL be grossed out and uncomfortable the whole time you are here. If i could have changed hotels, I would have after our first day. Honestly i want some money back for all the amenities that were advertised and not given.
- 1/5
Hotel had a weird smell. Rooms were very damaged and dirty. No free breakfast and gym as advertised and as for the free parking….6 cars in addition to mine had their windows smashed!!! That was the most expensive parking I’ve ever had!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Even the police said not to stay here!!!
- 1/5
This property needs major renovations. We did not stay due to the terrible conditions. The pictures they show look nothing like the property.
- 1/5
We were in town for our highschool reunion and because of time restraint I didn’t take pictures. But I promise, if you visit this site you will have the same conclusion! I was highly disappointed and embarrassed I booked this hotel and invited guests. Lease refund my two night stay, immediately. Your hotel pictures were bogus and you need to use real time picture of this dirty, molded and smelly hotel. The staff were just there not very attentive l. Thanks for your time.

It is possible to have a compensation ? As we choose this hotel because they have the breakfast include.
- 1/5
Quite possibly the worst stay I have ever had at a hotel. I was booked in for 4 nights and checked out after 1 night. Hotel was run down, broken fixtures and cracks in walls, lacked cleanliness. Hotel advertises breakfast included - there is no breakfast. I could not get out of there fast enough.
- 1/5
The condition is pretty bad in the hotel. Washroom is dirty. The carpet condition is bad that I don’t even want to take off my shoes.
- 4/5
The hotel wasn’t the big part of our trip, so we didn’t go all out. You get what you pay for here, don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed.
- 2/5
Everything was old and outdated. The smell was depressing. The furniture was ripped/broken/burned. For the money I spent I felt totally ripped off. Who runs a business like that. The first thing the desk clerk said to me when I arrived was that the water was not working. He said the water would be back on in a few hours. I said how are you going to compensate me for my inconvenience, he said the manager told him not to compensate. I was like Wow!..Etc…when I went to the room I couldn’t believe it, I went back down and told them to give me another room. The new room was bet-ter but still sub-standard. I wish I could post pictures because I have plenty. I should get a refund…..
- 1/5
Front desk service man was nice however Rooms damaged Badly upon arrival need repairs
- 2/5
Stain and needs an update
- 2/5
Only one in our room paid for late check out, but was locked out of the room earlier than it was supposed to be. Took staff 45 minutes to let me back in my room, giving me 15 minutes to pack all my things when bringing us towels prior night it took the gentleman downstairs over an hour and that’s what I was calling twice very outdated vending machine was cold but filled no cold products so you get a frozen candy bar or cold chips.
- 1/5
bad
- 1/5
The hotel as well room condition was pathetic. The beds and towels had stains, towels were also torn. It was mentioned there is breakfast but breakfast was not available however they even did not have water in entire hotel. Lot of random people were roaming in parking as well lobby and lot of weird noises we heard in the other room. It was very unsafe and unhygienic specially since we were staying with small kids. Only good thing is we did not book this hotel for more than one night so we could leave in short time.
- 5/5
Nice room
- 1/5
DO NOT STAY HERE! It is DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY!! Cigarette burns everywhere, in multiple rooms that we went into! The front desk is running SCAMS. They walk into the room after they knock, don’t give you time to get up and get to the door. Won’t give you pillows or towels without a fight. Mold in the showers. Curtains with giant holes in them. Glass in the carpet. No breakfast or gym like they’re advertising. Even if you’re staying here for one night SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. The fact that this is even an option on this website is disappointing.
- 1/5
No cups no coffee ice in refrigerator lost of ice window curtains falling off it’s a mess I have started here a lot never been like this before I ask for another room was told they didn’t have one that was clean i need a refund
- 1/5
No breakfast served even if promised. I need a refund, please arrange.
- 1/5
Dirty, smelly, sheets were stained, mold in the bathroom. Blackout curtain falling off the rod and drawers falling off the dresser. Hallways smelled and elevator sounds like it was about to break. We checked out after 12 hours of being there overnight and finding a new place.
- 1/5
Simply put, the place is a complete dump! From the second you walk in the broken front door to the service desk with nobody there! My room was disgustingly dirty and smelled like mold. Got up at 2:30 am to a party. Went downstairs to leave and the lobby was full of just people standing around. Never again!!!
- 1/5
Some of the appliances like the hairdryer were held in place with duck tape. The bathtub was unclean. The bed was noisy.
- 2/5
Not worth staying beyond 6 hrs
- 1/5
My girlfriend went to check in and was cat called while driving by entrance, and she felt very unsafe walking in by herself and we ended up not even checking in. The area was terrible .
- 1/5
Horrible stay, stains everywhere, no continental breakfast, shabby location.
- 5/5
Its ok the wifi can be better
- 1/5
The room was not in a good condition at all
- 2/5
The toilet was not cleaned. The sheets had cigarette holes in them theres stains everywhere. I was given a new room that was better. The people in the room next to me were cackling until 4 am!!!! People were doing burnouts in the parking lot. The pictures at booking looked a lot nicer!
- 1/5
Está horrible el olor es desagradable ya es una propiedad para reparación
- 2/5
When I booked this is stated Breakfast was served and free AND it states Laundry Facilities. Neither of these were true and we were really frustrated as we had been traveling already and these two amenities were very important to ease our travels.
- 1/5
Roaches in the room
- 3/5
The carpet in the room needed to be vacuumed
- 2/5
a horrible smell of cigarettes everywhere, including inside the room. Advertises with breakfast, but does not serve breakfast
- 1/5
Unsafe area. Many things in the room did not work or was broken. Phone lines did not work. You can never get a hold of the front desk when you call from your cell phone. AC didn’t work so we had to switch rooms. Not to mention the faucet was labeled wrong and I burned my hand and I am completely upset. I called Expedia on Friday to try to call the hotel so we can get a refund and go elsewhere and they can even get in touch with them. Very bad customer service Wi-Fi didn’t work and breakfast was not available as it was advertised when we booked a hotel!
- 3/5
There was no breakfast as advertised. Otherwise it was a place to sleep.
- 1/5
Our room door didnt lock there was a very strong smell in the hallways and elevator #1 was so scary to ride in!! Staff was friendly and it looked clean in the room its just falling apart
- 1/5
Hotel needs a major upgrade ASAP
- 2/5
Everything in the room worked but was damaged and stained. I chose the hotel over another because it advertised free breakfast but there was none available. Gaming facility in the lobby attracts “other” customers. No one was at the check in desk when I arrived and there was no place to sit to wait for someone to come back if not in one of the gaming chairs. On the plus side, the room was clean, not noisy or smelly, there was a blackout curtain, the bed was comfortable and the staff person was helpful.
- 1/5
If you care about safety, don’t stay here. Area is pretty sketchy and lots of people walking the area at night. Area, people, and hotel feels very unsafe. Bathroom was dirty. Breakfast was NOT available as advertised with the excuse that it’s under remodeling, but they still charge you the same price. Not recommended.
- 1/5
On the good side, the stuff was cooperative to refund us.
- 1/5
Dirty, smelly, hole in the wall,
- 1/5
It's unfortunate that you can't get a room until 3:00 pm.
- 1/5
Definitely some drug and prostitution activity going on
- 1/5
Terrifying. As soon as you pull in the parking lot it's super scary. People loitering about, police cars, broken glass everywhere, trash, damaged building, smells like weed. If you dont leave right then like you should and actually make it into the building, it gets even worse. Do not stay here.
- 3/5
Pot was close to where I was going, had plenty of parking and not much yraffic
- 3/5
The view was amazing. But I was looking forward my baby to get in pool and when I booked they didn’t say anything about the pool being close had to find out when I got there
- 1/5
Stay was horrible had to leave immediately and couldn’t get a refund until Monday because there’s no manager or property over weekend water was running out yellow couldn’t shower , TV DIDN’T WORK Everything falling apart ! It
- 3/5
A place to stay. Needs updates and outside needs cleaning.
- 2/5
Bad mantenience. Lobby is nasty. Too many people.
- 2/5
Over priced for things that were advertised and was not available like housekeeping...
- 1/5
False advertising. NO BREAKFAST
- 1/5
On the plus side…The concierge was helpful and explained that they asked to have the complementary breakfast removed on Expedia, but it was not updated. He also gave us locations nearby that we could get breakfast. They check in and out automated system worked well, and thankfully the water was hot.
- 1/5
We got to the room and immediately heard the smoke alarm chirp and it did so the entire night. The floors in the bathroom were sticky, there were stains on the walls/everything you seemed to lay your eyes on. We went down to Chicago on Saturday for a concert and had plans on Sunday in the city as well otherwise we would have just drove home after the concert and not even bothered staying the night.
- 1/5
Holes in wall live wires hanging non working phone misleading about location being non smoking burn marks in bedding and counters soiled carpets stragglers in lobby manager refused adjustments worst experience ever
- 1/5
Worst stay ever, bathroom was not clean. Room had stains everywhere. Hair in the bathroom and room.
- 1/5
The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had. Changed room twice since my arrival for a 3 day trip non of the rooms were better than the other. All the rooms are dirty live wires mold in the shower
- 1/5
There's no iron or ironing board. No breakfast (not even a cheap coffee pot). The front desk clerks are not mean but not really friendly or approachable. You cannot use the stairs, they are closed off, which is unsafe in case of fire, etc. The elevators are dated, dirty, and smelly. Our two bed, non-smokng room rèeked of cigarettes. There were cigarette burns in the comforter on one bed, cigarette burns all over the bathroom sink and counter. Three of the drawers were broken and would fall out when pulled open. The lampshade was cracked, old, and broken. The bedlamps were broken on one bed and missing on the other. The walls had stains everywhere. The carpeting was dirty and had gross sticky spots esoecially by the beds. The remote was sticky and the back was missing. All surfaces were sticky and we had to buy some cleaning supplies to spend an hour wiping down surfaces so we could set our things on them to unpack. The corner chair in the room was so bad it looked like it was retrieved fom a dumpster! It was old and torn and also sticky, ugh! Curtains had holes in them(not huge but sun would stream through and wake you up). Both lamps and all light switches were covered with the stickiness that was on the other surfaces. The bed sheets were clean with the exception of the comforter burn holes. There were NO bed bugs. Do not stay here. Its just gross. The picures online are not even close to what the rooms look like. I cant seem to add photos of my own.
- 5/5
In general l like the staff and the hotel is clean. The price of the hotel good.
- 1/5
No breakfast, broken furniture, carpet dirty, stinks of cigarettes, burn marks all on the counter in the bathroom, missing lights on the walls, very very very disgusting. I didn’t even want to touch anything.
- 1/5
For starters we had to wait at least 20 minutes for the front desk receptionist to return from wherever he was. Lots of police activity at the hotel and the hotel next door called the plaza inn and kings inn. At least 6 times that the police and ambulance showed up on the property and surrounding properties. The homeless population is large. We had a view of an alley and seen people doing illegal activities. No continental breakfast or coffee. No refrigerator in room. Dirty bathroom couldn’t even shower. The elevator is beyond old, feels like you might get stuck in it. Lots of activity of people walking at night. Disgusting curtains. Water leaks in ceilings. Didn’t sleep on sheets had to buy sheet covers and blankets. Tv only had channel. Someone from the front desk said they’d come and fix it and did not. 0/10 stars would not recommend. Do not stay here!!! This hotel and surrounding hotels need to be shut down.

I understand the low cleanliness due to remodeling. But excrement stains on the toilet bowl and seat are not okey. House keeping is doing a bad job and management Dosent follow up on it. That was the second room they put me in. The first one was dirty the tv didn’t work remote had no covers and one missing batteries
- 2/5
The bathroom was not clean tub drity around toilet drity sink counter top had burned spot bedroom walls were dirty.
- 4/5
The continental breakfast was not offered or on display as promised online. We decided to eat breakfast at a soul food restaurant in Chicago, but I feel empathy for those who may have depended on the breakfast. I thank God for his protection during our stay. It was not the worst place to stay but definitely not a resort.
- 2/5
Property did not look like the pictures on expedia website. Hotel was very dated.
- 1/5
The first room wasn't prepared, when I went back down to tell the manager he gave me another room.I went to check it first and when I came back to say I accept it he had already put some people in the first room they wouldn't open the door and I couldn't get my shoes back. The second room bathroom sink fallen down the door falling off the shower doesn't stay hot the remote keep sayin it needs batteries,it's people kicking and punching doors at 3am,,omg. It's my birthday so I stayed but I definitely payed too much for this room now it's a it's below zero and I might have to stay again in this.Im on the 4th floor I had to walk back downstairs almost 10 times the first nite cause of mistakes.

Hotel was disgusting. Bathroom was smelling of cigarette smoke. Mold on the bathtub crevices. Water was cold. Light fixtures broken. Just a very gross hotel.

I checked in (was warned not to smoke or I'd be fined. I assured the attendant that I dont smoke and would not violate the rule), went back outside to park, went up to the room, got the shock of my life, took a video for proof in case there was any push back on giving me a full refund and went right back downstairs to check out. The attendant at the desk offered a partial refund because it had been over 15mins since I checked in. He said it was close to 40 mins (not true) so he couldn't refund my money. If this is a real rule, it speak volumes about the quantity of time their usual clientele stay in the rooms. To keep any of my money is completely unacceptable. In order to get the rest I was told I have to call back and speak to the manager. He has conveniently been gone for the day or in a meeting everytime I've called since Dec 21st. Honestly, it doesn't say much for Hotels.com that this place is available on the platform. It truly is a 0star establishment. It's a health hazard. I should have taken some pics instead of just video.
- 1/5
Hotel is very outdated
- 1/5
They treated me terribly. I had different rules than everyone else and was asked to leave for no reason.
- 5/5
It was quiet. The staff were quick with any service i needed and friendly.

In another room, my friends said they found trash at the entrance of the room. Lastly, when we arrived, we asked what time breakfast was going to be served. I was surprise when the guy at lobby told me that breakfast was not included. When I booked, I made sure that parking and breakfast were available. They said that that Expedia has to remove the breakfast that is listed in the offered services.
- 5/5
Good area for quick food and jumping right on the eway
- 1/5
I stayed there for 8 hours and was COVERED in bed bug bites. The room and bathroom was filthy!! There were bugs walking around the bathroom floor. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was giving a time to call him. When I called at that time, he “wasn’t there” and I had to call back on a few hours. When I called back in a few hours, he still “wasn’t there”. I was given a new time of 6P. I called at 6:30 and I was told that he didn’t come in that day and would be in the following day. I asked for corporate’s phone number and he refused to give it to me because he didn’t have it and said that I need to call the next day to speak to Mike, the manager. Then he hung up on me. If you have a car, sleep in that first before you stay in this filthy ass hotel.
