Staff was friendly

The room was spacious and clean, not much to complain about! There isn’t a lot of outside space for walking your dogs, have to just walk on the sidewalk for awhile till you find patches of grass. Overall, a good stay!

This was my second stay here. The staff were helpful and the property was very clean. It was a quiet place with very little road noise.

Nice hotel close to Palo Duro state canyon. Rooms were clean, staff was great, located walking distance to restaurants.

Buffalo Inn was very clean. The bed was comfortable. I loved that I could unload my things right by the door.

Price was decent. Checkout was a bit confusing. I guess i was supposed to just set my card on the desk and not ring the bell. Lady came up and grabbed card set it on desk and took the bell and the sign to ring bell down and went back to her room. Maybe put a sign up saying to do that. It was a good stay though and smoking section outside. Very close to Palo Duro canyon. Bed was a little firm but not bad. Was quiet and felt safe.

For a babic spend the night stay, it was fine. If looking for a resort type atmosphere, probably best to look further.

The room was adequate for the price. I liked not having carpet, but our socks were filthy from walking on the bare floor. The bedding, towels, etc were clean and the bed was comfortable. The easy chair in the room was disgustingly dirty and the bathroom could definitely use some towel bars or hooks. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Parking was tight but free. Breakfast was a gift certificate for a free breakfast at McDonald’s.

Need more caulk around the shower. Other than that, it was fine. Managers Tammy and Victor were great. Thank you.

Parking was very tight. Room 22, Old fridge outside our door. Cover on the bed was dirty. Was only a sheet on the bed. TV didn’t work. Shower head was crusted over. Floor in the bathroom was dirty.

Stayed one night. Comfortable hotel and you can park outside your door for easy loading and unloading.

Stop here if you can sleep comfortably with all of that....or if you bring all of your own linens and supplies, then maybe it's not too bad for $95 a night. Just needed a place to stay while traveling through for a total of about 7 hours to sleep, but couldn't even bring myself to shower. Only could fall asleep because I was so exhausted. Never again!

This was a return visit for us. The staff was wonderful. Our daughter left a stuffed animal on accident and they were able to locate it and get it back to us. We look forward to visiting again.

I was able to park right outside the door. Be sure to ask for directions on the heating system. It was late when I realized I needed it and never figured it out on my own. Luckily there was an extra blanket in a drawer and the temperature didn’t drop too low overnight.

We would stay at the Buffalo Inn again!

No food was available, no ice was available. Room was clean but tv didn’t work properly. Had to get manager to come & explain how tv worked, no explanation was in the room internet was extremely slow. Hot & cold water taps were mixed up in bathroom.

The room was just okay and for the price, it was as a good value. That said, the sofa and upholstered bench seat in the room were pretty dirty and stained, giving a dirty look to the room. Most of the other rooms in that area were over $100 which I did not want to spend so overall it was OK. The bed was comfortable. It’s just that the furniture was so dirty.

Ok for the price. It could use a better tv and beds. The bed was too firm for us and the bedding was very thin. It was clean. The tv was difficult to operate. The bathroom was clean and soaps were nice enough. Very close to the canyon. The town is interesting.

Taking off 1 star only because we found a couple of unrecognizable bugs immediately after we checked in. However the owners were great and switched us immediately to another room without a problem. That room was perfect and had great water pressure in the shower. We only stayed 1 night but the beds were comfortable and the room nice and cold. Was nicely updated. Loved that the fridge had a freezer section. Would stay again. Very nice owners who manage the property. One thing to be aware of is that they are not always on property. They use a Ring doorbell. So press the button. You may have to wait 10 minutes to check in.

Most uncomfortable bed I never slept in. Not a wink of sleep. Otherwise, you get what you pay for. Oh yeah, TV didn't work either.

Amazing price for a clean room! I felt safe here with my kids. The owners are working diligently on making repairs and upgrades! The little patio in the middle is adorable and perfect for morning coffee or gathering with adults at night. Their little boy is an added burst of joy to see everyday!

I like the idea of parking at my door

This place is rough. The kind that mom doesn't think is okay and dad says is fine, but secretly dad knows it's not okay.

The constant loud buzzing sound I assume from the exterior parking lot light kept me awake at times. It's very loud, but I understand (and appreciate) it's for security purposes to illuminate the parking area. During the night, I got up to use the bathroom and found 2 live huge cockroaches - one by the front door and another in the bathroom. Also found a pink press on nail in one of the towels.

We had a great stay. The staff was incredible and the room was exactly what we needed. Very affordable.

Concerns: 1. Floor sometimes makes noise like stepping on and off a flat piece of metal like a cookie sheet. In the middle of the night, that was quite startling. Perhaps the flooring was installed over an unusual, metallic surface. 2. Shower curtain had an unsightly stain. Nice features: desk clerk is friendly. There is a patio area with a big screen TV. It looks like a good gathering place for guests.

Stay was pleasant. Room was clean. Nothing fancy but served my purpose. I did have to pay an extra $25 for an early check in because I had to get ready for a funeral.

Clean, quite, comfortable bed.. As a short person the shower head and the AC controls were difficult to reach.

The room was very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the TV would not turn on with the remote. We had to turn it on with the buttons on the back of the TV. (not enough of an issue to lower the score)

It was a nice motel. The room was clean and comfortable and was easy to get in and out of. Near all the attractions we wanted to see. Will stay there again.

Room was tucked back in a storage hallway with items leaning up against the wall. Shower controls were installed backwards. Room needed a lot of maintenance. TV worked one day not the next, electrical outlets were loose and wouldn’t hold a cord. The owner was nice but service was on a request basis. Bathroom door had a hole in it. Plastic was still on the box springs. Location is convenient but needs a lot of maintenance inside and out.

Clean and comfortable place to stay when you are on the road. A bonus was the nice courtyard with trees and chairs and tables that we used, especially since our room had no view and the window opened to the hallway, which I didn’t like.

No TV

Our room was clean and in good repair. When we entered it, however, the temperature was 87. AC off. It seems to me that if the room is reserved, the ac should be set to a comfortable temperature before the guests arrive. Our television did not work. We had to call the office several times to get someone to turn it on. Annoying. We stayed 2 nights and discovered the inn’s policy is to offer no services - no clean towels, no trash removal. Unbelievable. We stayed at this motel several years ago and enjoyed it very much; however, things have changed and we will not be back.

The owners were very nice however my towels weren’t clean, and the place just seems a little run down. I would stay again because overall I felt safe, and I believe I got what I paid for. If you pay cheap you get cheap.

Convenient location to Palo Duro Canyon, front desk was friendly, rooms are older but overall, it was an okay place to stay.

Only trouble was using key card to get in. Had to really push on door to open but got it done.

The TV shut automatically at 3:30 in the morning and I wasn't finished watching the movie. I could not figure out how to get the signal back. The front desk clerk was asleep so I didn't want to bother her.

Right off the main highway and across from the Police Station! Old but quaint. Bring your own Kleenex's. No room issues at all. Needed the AC and Heat both during this trip and they worked perfectly. Shower had some discoloration on some of the tiles in one corner. Shower pressure was great. I'll stay here again.

The entire place was absolutely great with one exception. The king size bed was the wort bed I have ever slept in. It was not comfortable at all. Other than that it was excellent. Room was clean, staff was wonderful and accommodating. With that being said. I can overlook the uncomfortable bed.

Perfect if you’re not looking for something fancy. It’s right in the middle of Canyon, TX. A bit noisy but close to everything. The staff were great. I would happily stay here again.

The only reson that I stayed here was because of its location. It was not a completely bad experience for $69/night, I am just not an Inn/motel kind of person. I will not be back, owners were sweet though.

Great little motel with all the amenities, no frills and most importantly very clean place for a goodnight's sleep. Across the street from WTAMU and plenty of restaurants. Highly recommend, great value especially for the budget conscious traveler.

Although it appears to be fully remodeled and updated and we were not looking for luxuries, but this is a Very strange place to stay! To start with we were not greeted in person when we got there. We had to call a number that was on a sign at the desk and a room key was sitting on the counter with several others. We were told to take the key to our room and come back later. The atmosphere felt very weird! People sitting in vehicles in the parking lot and traffic going in and out of rooms was very uncomfortable! At first the room seemed to be just ok, not great but just ok. We left and went to have dinner and when we got back we discovered that the room was dirty! My husband accidentally spilled water on the floor and when we wiped it up we saw that the floors were very dirty! When we pulled back the sheets they also appeared dirty! The bed was horribly uncomfortable! No we didn’t call the number again to ask them to make it right, because we felt like the people running the place were very shady! We just waited until morning we walked into the office to check out I rang the buzzer someone opened a door in the back a yelled “Thank you, just leave the key on the counter!” The only thing that made us feel a little safe is the fact that the police station is across the street! Please see the pictures that we took before you book here! We will not stay here again!

The place wasn't dirty but it wasnt the cleanest. The price was right for the time I was there and I would stay again. Buffs next door had good food and cheap happy hour beers

Buffalo Inn Canyon suited my needs for this particular trip. Though not plush or fancy, it took care of the cost, location and purposes of my time spent in Canyon this trip. The cost was acceptable to/for the requirements.

Previous reviews stated this was a locally owned business, & that it was good to support them. I agree--however, this is NOT a locally owned business, the motel employees confirmed. Rooms are VERY BASIC, NO frills, with a TV system VERY difficult to navigate. We were afraid to walk around in the room without slippers, refused to use the shower. This place is NOT worth the seemingly discounted price. WHY it has the high ranking we do NOT understand. Opt for a place you feel SAFE and cared for in. If you're looking for a CHEAP place to stay--and want CHEAP accommodations--this place is perfect. But seriously, a $15 extra fee for checking in 1 hr, 24 min early for a funeral?!?! Recommendation to travelers: Stay elsewhere.

We stay at the buffalo inn almost ever time we go to canyon if they have rooms available we stay their it is very affordable and it is clean we stay their about three times a year atleast

Room was not clean!

Overall good, one day they forgot to refill the coffee & cups for morning, went to get ice and the ice maker was empty and unplugged. 1 pillowcase out of 4 had yucky stain on it and a strand of Long hair on it first night we checked in, so borrowed a pillowcase from our kids that live in Canyon to get us by, until I could talk to cleaning staff for different pillowcase, they brought a different pillow after I talked to him.

The floors in the room and bathroom had not been swept or mopped from previous stays. The bath tub was dirty; wouldn't set foot in it. I stayed 3 nights unfortunately, I would have left if I could have gotten a refund. The TV set up was difficult to operate and no instructions were in the room on how to use the system.

We stay here once a year. They continue to update the property and the rooms. Nice place, friendly staff and the best prices you will find

This property was a real value. Recently remodeled and very nice. There wasn't a typical cable TV system or at least I couldn't figure it out. I recommend this property but ask the folks in the office for information on TV operation if that is important to you.

Price was better than other places in town. Right across from the police department; safe part of town. Internet was a bit iffy with their Video-On-Demand (which was awesome - Netflix, Hulu, etc), and closed captions were a pain. Their tv-tuning mechanism was also a bit painful. They had a microwave, small fridge, but no ice-maker. Big walk-in shower. Beds were comfortable. Trim-work a bit sub-par, but that's just cosmetic. Clean. comfortable, great value. My wife is already making plans to re-visit again; I just heard her on the phone inviting her sister, "We should go again and y'all should come with us; the rooms are cheap and cute...", and then she changed topics, so I don't know where exactly she was going with her story. They have a neat semi-enclosed porch area that's nice to sit in in nice weather; the manager, who was good-spirited and helpful, offered to tune in the Dallas Cowboys game on the TV in that porch, but it was cool enough that our group retired to our rooms instead to watch the game. The road next to the motel is a main road through town, a 1-minute drive to United Supermarkets and Sonic and McD's and Subway, etc. If you're rolling in money, you're going to want the big-bucks hotels; but if you're simple middle-class folks and don't expect big-bucks amenities, I think you'll be content with this choice. I'm confident we'll revisit.

My stay was during the university’s homecoming. It was a nostalgia thing. Having said that, I found the facility clean and functional. It was pleasant and what I expected for the price. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Every hour or so a.large thunk/bang would happen in the walls. No actual blanket on bed just a top sheet and a decorative bed cover. Room was a bit run down

Good for the money….

The hotel was quiet but we requested a specific room and was told by Richard that he had taken care of it. Then we left my husband stayed and the lady f the front desk open the door to the room while knocking and my husband was taking a shower he went to the office and they laughed in his face.

The motel was conveniently located to the place where we were going. The check in was easy and prompt. The room was clean. The television picture was super nice. Over-all a great stay.

We had a great stay at this property, which we used as a convenient home base for our visit to the Palo Duro Canyon. The room wasn’t fancy, but the bed was comfortable, the WiFi worked, and the shower was hot, which is pretty much all we need! We would definitely stay here again.

The TV did nt work at first. Then when it did, it ws too hard to maipulate. I'm not a dummy but it was not easy. When I called about it after I was out, the person answering the phone seemed to chastise me for not being there when she came to check on the TV. She finally got it to work. No ice machine.

The room was great, very clean, refrigerator, microwave, window shade that covered the whole window. No bathtub but I was fine with it and prefer a shower. Never saw an employee only spoke through Ring camera and collected my room key that was left out for me. Turned key in next morning early since we were heading to Palo Duro Canyon to hike before it got to hot. Really enjoyed the stay and will return hopefully.

Room was clean but the bedding was very thin. My husband loved the hard bed.

very nice old motel renovated to modern standards. only negatives, parking is a little tight but doable and both time we stayed there recently the ice machine was not working. Some of the furniture is old but serviceable. Will stay there again if we go to Canyon.
