The hotel has a great location in the historic district, with friendly and accommodating staff. However, there are consistent complaints about cleanliness, maintenance issues, and high prices, particularly for parking and breakfast.

Great Hotel, staff and LOCATION!!!! Location is in caps because I was searching for a hotel within walking distance to everything (art galleries, shops, restaurants, rainbow row, the battery, waterfront, open air market) and this hotel is. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. They even made excellent dinner recommendations.

Location It was noisy. There was no free coffee. The coffee in my room was not restocked one morning. I had two broken glasses in my room. Something was left in the fridge from a previous occupant.

Valet parking is the easiest, Secure, and off the street. This courtyard has all the feel of a five star boutique hotel, five stars across the board. Staff incredibly friendly, location, perfect for downtown Charleston, particularly if you’d like to walk.

Valet service is terrific. Staff is mediocre, old rooms, small, out of date. Rooms were serviced daily but cleanliness was lacking. Breakfast was poor and expensive. I paid $6.15 for a diet Dr Pepper at the desk. Not worth what they charge d try Hampton Inn down the street.

Very friendly and accommodating front desk staff, and cleaners! I accidentally left a watch and some jewelry in the room, and it was turned in and returned to me shortly thereafter. This is not just your hotel....but I really miss a 24 hour coffee/water station.

Water main break caused no water to hotel. The hotel had no contingency plan. I have a special needs child and could not wait until the issue was resolved. I had to move hotels. No offer or compensation made by hotel. Very disappointing that such a hitel had no backup plan, nor did they offer any solutions or accommodation for guests.

- 5/5
Room was great but the staff really stood out. So pleasant and helpful. Everyone from valet to front desk to maintenance were just phenomenal and led to a really lovely first visit to Charleston
- 5/5
Everyone was so kind and accommodating. Bistro/Starbucks staff were kind and helpful. The only thing I wish I had known was there is no parking onsite. Valet is an option though. I would 100% return again.

Unique & cozy ambiance.Stylish & clean room. Check in & parking staff very friendly.

Was a complete great experience from valet to check out. Was best stay for is out of MANY stays in hotels across country.

Excellent location to the downtown area. Spacious two queen bed room. Coffee shop and lite meals available during certain times. Highly recommend this hotel.

Great location
- 3/5
The rate for this hotel is presumably based on its location. The same hotel in Mt. Pleasant would likely cost less than 1/2. Overpriced for what you get, but the location is within the Charleston Historic District. Room is adequate, but nothing fancy - typical room you'd see at any reputable hotel chain. The balcony was very tiny and overlooked the top of a gas station. Walls paper thin - had to call front desk to control noise in adjacent unit. Annoying noise also coming from rooftop air conditioner compressor. Told if we had handicap sticker no need to pay for Valet Parking but was charged $130.00 for 3 days which manager eventually reversed. Kudos to the restaurant manager who empathized with the concerns we had regarding the Valet Parking and offered a free breakfast. If we visit Charleston again would not pay $400+ / night and likely would stay at a hotel just outside the city (5–10-minute ride to attractions in city). There are plenty of parking garages near the attractions. Boone Hall is out of the city and would require driving anyway. For restaurants there are many on the very close outskirts of Charleston for just a light meal outside of the city that are reasonably priced. Charleston restaurant prices seem to rival New York City. This is a pricey place to visit and somewhat caters to the elite who don't pay attention to the cost. A very lovely city and well worth visiting but plan your itinerary in a smart way that avoids the exorbitant tourist prices.

We were there 2 nights and NEVER had anyone make the bed, empty our trash… or even clean the room.
- 5/5
We had an issue when we arrived where we were supposed to have a folding bed and it wasn't there. Vanessa at the front desk was incredibly helpful. I really appreciated her and recommend.
- 4/5
Closeness to shopping & Folley Beach
- 5/5
The staff was so friendly in every department!! Would stay here again.
- 3/5
The bistro is overpriced and quality of food is bad. For better quality and value one can get better quality and cheaper in nearby establishments
- 5/5
The staff was great and the hotel was nice and very clean. We also liked its proximity to shops and restaurants, and to the bridge to head over to the islands (Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, etc.). I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
I liked the bar and the customer service.
- 4/5
This hotel is located in a very convenient area of Charleston. It was walkable to both King Street shopping, restaurants, bars and also walking distance to the French Quarter shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Chair arms in lobby are very worn.
- 5/5
We had a great stay. The staff is wonderful!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay, with a very easy check-in. Unfortunately, the room we received had been recently smoked in. As non-smokers, this is offensive. The young man at the desk was very understanding and relocated us right away. The next room was perfect and the beds extremely comfortable. Easy walk to downtown too!
- 5/5
The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes every stay feel like coming home. Whether it’s your first visit to Charleston or your tenth, this hotel puts you right in the center of everything worth seeing. I can’t recommend it enough for comfort, convenience, and Southern hospitality at its finest.
- 5/5
Upscale and great bar!
- 5/5
Also, the metal strip in the shower flooring was very noisy-post showering. The refrigerator made a humming noise all night.
- 4/5
My family and I stayed for one night as we were driving back from FL. We love Charleston and wanted to see the city again so we booked 2 rooms for the night. We arrived early and didn't anticipate the rooms being ready. Thankfully valet was available and we could leave our luggage and venture out. Check in was supposed to be at 4 pm, however we didn't have our rooms available until 530 pm. It was a bit of headache since we couldn't freshen up. However the front desk clerk (I don't know her name) gave us water and was very apologetic. When we finally checked in, she did give us a 2 pm check out and a free bottle of wine, which were both greatly appreciated. The rooms not being available at 4 were unfortunate but not enough to keep us away whenever we do come back to visit. Location is fantastic to King Street which is why we chose this hotel to begin with. Overall, would recommend!
- 4.5/5
Very comfortable room. Technical problems occurred with the door lock and my keys twice needed to be reset. The staff were very personable and helpful.
- 5/5
Great location and beautiful amenities
- 5/5
Great hotel - clean, quiet, lovely and relaxing pool area. Walkable to fun, tourist activities!
- 5/5
The staff was really welcoming and helpful. Valet, Ari B made a special impression on us, remembering our names and he gifted a special keychain to my son after he commented on it. The room was great, and the hotel was perfectly situated to walk everywhere in town.
- 5/5
The only downside, and it was no fault of the hotel, is that someone had left the clock radio alarm set in the next room and even though no one was in the room, it went off at 6AM. I heard it and it woke me up. The hotel staff immediately came up and got it turned off. No harm, no foul.
- 5/5
Excellent stay…highly recommend for close relativity to all things in downtown Charleston.
- 4/5
The staff was great! Location awesome. No one to help with luggage. No water included in room and the pool very small.
- 5/5
Convenient location, friendly staff, clean rooms!
- 4/5
Great location, good value, gentle staff. Beds too soft, otherwise would go back.
- 5/5
Perfect
- 5/5
We loved it
- 5/5
The hotel was relatively close to most things, the service was great and staff was very helpful.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at this location. We will definitely be back and we will definitely recommend this location to others.
- 2.5/5
Great location and good facilities with pool and gym. The beds were really uncomfortable, there was often a smell of sewage in the corridors and it could have been cleaner.
- 5/5
Nice staff.

Good location. Good staff

No
- 5/5
Booking was a nightmare! ! ! ! AND the price kept going up. AND I was giving an opportunity to stay in a private home at no charge 5 days prior to the hotel start date, but could not cancel my reservation because to cancel made the room rate too high

Staff was wonderful! Check in employee was exceptional and valet staff system was fast and convenient! Location was so convenient. Plan to stay here again!
- 4/5
Great service will definitely stay again

Everything
- 4.5/5
Wall above bathroom sink was very dusty no had cleaned it is a while.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and room was so comfortable!
- 2/5
Motel feel, outdated, felt dirty and very expensive for what it was.
- 5/5
Great price and great hotel for a family of six. Staff was very helpful and kind.
- 4.5/5
In regard to location, the hotel is on the outskirts of downtown Charleston. It is good to take a walk around the town. As the hotel has only valet parking, we used street parking right in front of the hotel at a lower price.
- 4/5
Front desk staff and valets were excellent! Maid service was good - things were clean and tidy but the maid did not restock different things on different days. One day, did not replace the make-up washcloth (even though I clearly used it the prior day), another day, did not restock the cardboard sleeves for paper coffee cups (I used them the prior day) The next day, restocked the cardboard sleeves for the cups but did not restock the actual paper cups. Just strange randomness. We didn’t complain. It was minor but thought it was worth mentioning. Our overall experience was very good.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Great locations. I'm just very saddened that some of the marriotts do not offer bottle water and the rooms or when you Check-in from a day of traveling. Please supply a bottle of water for people who are checking in for their daily stays there. Don't be so cheap. Thank you.
- 4/5
Printer out of service
- 1/5
The staff did not ask about our stay and if there was anything was wrong with room or otherwise.
- 5/5
Tiffany at the front desk was extremely professional as was Adam in Valet service. We had a medical equipment malfunction resulting in a need for expeditious sign-in and keeping my vehicle parked in front of property so I could drive to MUSC hospital without having to wait for valet to return car.
- 5/5
Great location. Clean and well appointed room.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel. Only complaint was having to ask several times to have the room cleaned on two of the three days spent there.
- 4/5
Good for a quick trip
- 5/5
Overnight in Charleston-great hotel
- 5/5
Nothing to add
- 5/5
Nice accommodating staff.
- 4/5
Excellent location
- 5/5
All around pleasant
- 4/5
My small family has never been to Charleston. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to do. We drove to Folly Beach for one day because it’s 20 minutes with traffic. We rode a free shuttle/bus to the aquarium. The hotel and valet staff were all very kind and helpful. The room was adequate. I have to say that the mattresses were the worst I’ve ever slept on- confirmed by the two other people in my family. I understand firm- but this was like sleeping on the floor.
- 3/5
The valet was pretty unacceptable. Not friendly, did not offer to help with bags, and when we needed to retrieve something from the car, he just gave us the keys, pointed in the direction of the car and made us go ourselves. For $40 a day, it was a rip off.
- 4/5
Kayla the front desk associate was wonderful ! The property was walkable and we were able to flow Easley through out.
- 4/5
Guys, you did great. The valet was sometimes slow. To the point where I would walk down and they still had not looked at their app to see that I requested the car. I’m also a little disappointed that valet service is $39 a day. That price needs to come down in order to be fair. Very clean hotel, with a great location. I would definitely recommend to friends.
- 5/5
Service was great. Place was pretty and clean and close to everything.
- 5/5
Little father from the historic area then I would have liked, but doable.
- 5/5
Quickly becoming my favorite place to stay in Charleston
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
We were in town for one night with our kids. Very nice staff. Very clean..no carpet in the guest rooms was FANTASTIC.
- 4/5
Good, clean with friendly staff. Parking was an issue and very expensive.
- 5/5
It was great
- 4/5
One night stay. Staff was very welcoming. Great parking situation! Walkable to shops. Great location.
- 3/5
Nice place. Recommend.
- 5/5
Very nice place and excellent location to everything
- 5/5
Very clean and nice staff
- 5/5
Nice property
- 5/5
No carpet, great floor choice. Very clean, great staff.
- 1/5
The overall stay was incredibly disappointing. The night we arrived, we discovered leftover food in the fridge, dirty sheets with hair on them, and dirty bathroom floors. We got in around 11 so we made due until the morning. The shower drain would not drain so we were bathing in dirty water filling up the bath, I picked up my shampoo bottle and there was an old used contact on it. We asked maintenance to look at the bathtub for a resolution and they never came. My friend called the front desk to explain our experience and they put us through to the manager Nick’s voicemail. She left a voicemail and he never called her back. For $456 a night, I have higher expectations. This place lacks general cleanliness and obviously has no resolution skills since we were never able to get any of our concerns resolved. I would not bother to pay $456 a night at a place that can’t even bother to clean the room prior to arrival.
- 5/5
The staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It is in a great location in the historic district for tourism.
- 5/5
Staff very friendly and helpfull, room was comfortable and a very enjoyable stay
- 5/5
If would be helpful if there was a bigger restaurant available
- 5/5
Expensive but in a great area, clean & quiet
- 4/5
Only 4 stars instead of 5 because we booked this place because of the pool and when we arrived the pool was having maintenance done on it. I wish we were told about that. Also, the valet parking is kind of a pain as we were going in and out a lot. A self park option would have been good. But overall it was very good. can’t beat the location and the staff was very friendly and accomodating
- 5/5
I liked that it was convenient and walkable for many of the sights in Charleston
- 3/5
The service and staff were professional and hospitable. The room could be cleaner. See attached picture of the wall lamp. It was filthy. We could not have access to the pool and it was in the 90's 2 days. We were a bit disappointed. We did not have daily cleaning service.
- 4/5
Had a great stay! Staff was very friendly and check in and check out were quick and efficient.
- 5/5
Outstanding people. Extremely expensive parking. Parking is external and price is variable depending of the day of the week
- 5/5
The property was fantastic and the staff very helpful
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, helpful and professional. In particular, Parking valet attendant was fantastic-great experience even before we walked inside hotel entrance. He (wish I got his name), was working really hard upon checkout, too, was very impressed with his work ethic and pleasant interaction with guests. Great experience overall.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, good service and clean
- 4/5
Excellent location
- 4/5
Great option at a reasonable cost for diwntown Charleston
- 5/5
Megan at reception delightful and helpful when we checked in. Great start and welcome!!
- 5/5
Hotel was great. Great location, great amenities. Close walk to everything. Would definitely book this hotel again and absolutely recommend.
- 5/5
It was beautiful and comfortable. Close proximity to the downtown area.
- 2/5
Not impressed at all. The room seemed very rundown. We ended up changing rooms after the first night because the drawers were broken, outlets wouldn’t hold a plug, and the drain in the tub wouldn’t drain unless you held it open. We stay at Marriotts most of the time when we travel and definitely would not return to this one. They definitely need to do some work to the rooms (even after changing rooms still had broken drawers in the new room). The staff was very helpful in the change and did comp us for one night so no complaints about the service just the overall condition of the hotel.
- 4/5
For my other daughter and it was not heated. Freezing, should be heated all year around. Valet staff was amazing!!!
- 4/5
A/C worked well and was not loud. Shower worked well. Sink required maintenance, as drain did not work. The room was fairly clean and there was visible dust/dirt on the floor around the furniture. The towels were rough and smelled of clorox.
- 5/5
Very nice & friendly staff
- 3/5
really nothing wrong except for the value. Pretty pricey for not even complimentary coffee from the bar in the morning. The staff was excellent and the condition was no more than should be expected at any medium-high end hotel.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, clean and convenient
- 5/5
The hotel was comfortable with excellent service, Two complaints. Coffee should be comped. Not Starbucks. Valet parking should be no more than $20. It was $40 which is exorbitant,
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 5/5
Excellent value for a hotel that was less than a mile from everything we wanted to do…shopping, dining, nightlife. Pool was simple but served the purpose of having a place to cool down and relax after shopping. Room was clean and spacious, loved the hardwood floors. Would definitely stay here again for our annual girl’s trip!
- 4/5
We stayed in a balcony room that appeared to be remodeled. Everything was clean and accommodating. I would stay again when in Charleston.
- 3/5
Nice room but too high on prices!!
- 5/5
Staff was welcoming, efficient and accommodating. Room was clean, parking was easy. Hotel was in a very walkable area and close to many different options for meetings, dining, shopping, etc.
- 3/5
Clean, but just ok. Area is a little on the rougher side
- 5/5
The locatiin could not have been better. And the staff was the most customer friendly staff im a hotel.
- 5/5
Property was fantastic and in a great location!
- 5/5
Spacious rooms
- 4/5
We were delighted with our room. Room was large, great designed, and nice décor Disappointed with location so far from city marketplace and cost of parking @ $70 for 2 nights and they expected a tip. Pool area was very blah.
- 5/5
I felt like the additional fee for parking at the hotel was a bit much.
- 3/5
The property is in need of upgrades. Marriott also needs to talk to their employees that because we book with third party, we are still guests. I am a Marriott Silver Elite and got treated like i was begging. So not ever going or referring people to this property.
