Reviews
The Ryder Hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and central location in Charleston. Guests appreciate the unique decor and amenities such as the pool and bar area. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with hidden fees, small rooms, and issues with water temperature and pressure.
- Central location in Charleston
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Hidden fees
- Small rooms and bathrooms

Restaurant had decent food, rooms were very clean, coffee shop was great, and so was the location- close to everything!
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel in a really convenient area of downtown Charleston. This place is very close to everything you’d want to see and do in Charleston.
- 4/5
Pool needs cleaning.
- 4/5
Friendly staff. Our room was nicely decorated as well as comfortable. We will be back.
- 5/5
I love staying at the Ryder Hotel. I travel a lot for work and it’s the perfect place to stay. Close walking distance to anything. They have a cute coffee shop in the hotel as well as a restaurant. The pool is always nice too! Highly recommend this hotel
- 5/5
The hotel was clean, well appointed, and lovely- and the location was the best - close to everything. Lots to do within walking distance.
- 5/5
Loved this hotel! Super clean and convenient.
- 4/5
We loved our stay at The Ryder Hotel—it is a super cute and conveniently located hotel. The rooms are spacious, the amenities are great, and the staff is very helpful. My one piece of advice is to get to the pool early if you want a lounge chair as it is pretty small and fills up quickly!
- 3/5
The hotel is clean and generally well maintained. We had some minor room issues with the door being poor fitting and letting in too much light/not being sealed well enough. The hotel pool is small but also well maintained. There is a party vibe and music is playing until 9p at the bars. We had a room over one of the bars and the room was very loud until 9p, perfect for a party crowd but not super relaxing. Would love to see them switch from the high packaging coffee creamer/sugar packets, one use coffee cups, etc to more eco friendly reusables.
- 4/5
The decor is beautiful in the lobby and common spaces, pool and restaurant were nice as well. However, the accommodations weren’t up to par with the price of the hotel. The lighting in the rooms was awful. We were on the 2nd floor and our room just had a dark window with an iron gate- no balcony even though there plenty of space so not sure why they put that there to not let natural light in. It felt like we were in a dungeon. Also took 3 phone calls and several Hours to bring up a steamer. Had to call multiple times because the shower drain was clogged and the room phone wasn’t working which still never got fixed. Furniture in the rooms felt very cheap and thrown together for the overall vibe of the hotel. Overall wasn’t impressed with the actual accommodations, just the decor in the common areas.
- 3/5
The Little Palm restaurant is fabulous and has a great vibe!
- 3/5
Room was tiny and the overall layout of the hallways from our room to the elevator was a bit odd. Thin walls so you will hear the party people late into the night. Expensive for what is was but the highlight was the comfy bed and strong AC.
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Ryder many times now. Always provides a unique experience , service level is top notice with attention to detail and the best location. We’ll see you again soon!
- 4/5
Great location and the pool was a nice bonus. Good value for that area.
- 3/5
We arrived on a sat excited to sit by the pool and have a drink. We were quickly told by the hostess that we couldn’t sit in the open table areas without a reservation. It was near the fireplace and no one was sitting there. She was little help and was very rude. Poor first impression. We then continued to make our way to the pool bar to get a drink and the bartender was nearly as rude. Will not return for price we paid.
- 4/5
Very close to everything central, clean, modern and coastal vibes. Nice staff. Pool and outside bar were really nice. Had some plumbing issues but got fixed, AC monitor stated low battery and didn’t work the best overnight, saw a few roaches in the halls but that’s common in humid climates (never in the room), breakfast bar has simple coffee and pastries (if you like a full breakfast not ideal).
- 4.5/5
Superb
- 4/5
Very unique design. Staff missed cleaning room one day and pool area was very busy throughout most of the day. Staff very helpful at front desk for restaurant recommendations.
- 5/5
This hotel was upgraded along the lines of Scandanavian influence. The only thing I dont like is the cost of parking. The hotel needs to negotiate rates for customer parking. I arrived 4:45pm Thursday and left around midday on Friday. Cost $46. Absolute rip-off.
- 5/5
Rooms are nice and pool area is great! Nice bar area in little Palm
- 5/5
Great location. Very friendly staff. Awesome amenities. This was my second time here and I love it.

- 5/5
Great vibe and unbeatable location at the Ryder Hotel. We originally hoped to switch our king room to a double but were told the hotel was sold out. At check-in, the gentleman at the front desk let us know he had already placed a rollaway bed in our room for us — a great touch and much appreciated! The pool and bar scene were lively and fun, which really added to the experience. Only downside was the low water pressure in the shower. Other than that, it was a great stay!
- 3/5
The room was extremely small for my husband, daughter, and myself. The space felt very cramped, including the bathroom, and it made the stay uncomfortable overall. In addition, the TV in the room was broken and would not shut off unless it was unplugged. When I went behind the TV to unplug it, I discovered piles of dust built up behind it. Once the dust was disturbed, the air conditioning circulated it throughout the room, which unfortunately triggered an asthma flare-up. To make matters worse, there was also hair left in the bathtub when I went to shower, which raised concerns about the cleanliness of the room. While the property has a lot of potential aesthetically, the cleanliness, maintenance, and room size made this stay far below expectations.
- 3/5
The staff was polite, and the location is great, but cleanliness and room quality are extremely important to me, especially at over $400/night. I expected a much better experience.
- 5/5
.
- 3/5
Nice hotel overall but high price for the value. A/C didn’t keep the room cool enough, shower water cut off twice, pool was nice but very crowded so difficult to get chairs. Good location, walkable to restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
Did not appreciate the hidden costs such as an amenities charge that I was not aware of when booking the reservation. Also, the charge of $58 a day to park your car is a bit too steep
- 5/5
Our stay was great!
- 5/5
Great stay

Housekeeping was teriffic. As good as any. Better than most. Coffee shop was understaffed. Coffee was so so.

Clean spacious room, and in a great location. Friendly staff
- 5/5
Lovely stay! Great location. Getting to the 4th floor was a little wonky as you need to take one elevator, walk down a hall, and take another, but if you don’t have the luggage trolly then won’t be an issue!
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Valet was wonderful and fast. It was cold when we were there so we weren’t able to use most of the amenities. The coffee shop was delicious! Wish it was open the whole day! It’s very centrally located to downtown. Would stay here again!
- 4/5
Location. The Ryder is all about location. Nestled into downtown one block off King street. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The pool is grungy. They don’t clean inside the pool like they should. There’s a “ring around the tub”. Very good with taking orders, they don’t clean up cups and the like. It was the same experience last time I stayed. I really think they’re short staffed in this department.

Great stay with my daughter to visit College of Charleston. Location was perfect for walking to everything.
- 5/5
The Ryder Hotel was amazing. The best part was the super comfortable mattress and pillows. The sheets were soft and high quality. I melted into the bed every night and had the best sleep of my life!!
- 5/5
This hotel is so much fun! Everything about it is fabulous.
- 4.5/5
Nice and fresh rooms Staff was nice and sharply organized an iron board and board in my room before arriving at the hotel and only after left a message 50’ prior. Great service The food is average, good but nothing special especially for the price

Great vibe and location.
- 4/5
The Hotel staff were very nice and engaging. Valet parking attendants very helpful. Great location. Standard room is adequate and has all of the amenities needed. The noise level from music at the pool level at night was intrusive. Bring a noise cancelling device. The coffee shop and morning restaurant openings need to be earlier. The room rate was $$$$ for graduation weekend. Overall, a good experience.
- 4/5
It was a beautiful hotel. Many up charges.
- 5/5
Friendly and accommodating staff
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Easy paid parking but can come & go as you want. Great location in center of everything. Nice hotel pool, restaurant & bar.
- 5/5
Property was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for walking through Charleston.

Superb
- 5/5
Spacious room with very comfortable beds and pillows. Pool and bar like an oasis. Definitely a relaxing vibe. Clean and furnished well. Coffee shop an added bonus too.
- 5/5
Onsite dining for all meals was a plus. Pool area was difficult to get limited seating that didn’t require a paid reservation. Very cute ambience. Some issues with the rooms. Left over contacts from previous guest on headboard. One cockroach in the room. Shower ran out of hot water by 3rd shower in a row. Tub didn’t drain well. Otherwise staff was very nice.
- 3/5
Gorgeous hotel in a prime location. But you should be aware that they charge a $38 amenity fee after your stay. (They advertise as all of these items included, no hidden fees, but then charge your card for this later)
- 4/5
The pool heater was broken. Water too cold for swimming. Coffee in room only made expresso. These two issues ruined my stay as I only book hotels with a pool and coffee. The coffee shop opened at 7am. I wake up at 5am. I really should have gotten a major discount. The hotel itself was fine. Good location.
- 4/5
The vibe was lovely
- 5/5
Parking access was super easy as we had to get the car in and out a few times. And when we woke up and it was raining, we were so happy to use the umbrellas in the closet for our morning walk!
- 3.5/5
Bed and pillows were comfortable. Shower was good and hot. Floors were dirty, large thick black crud on both sides of the bed. Stain on the ceiling over the bed. Not sure why we were charged an amenity fee, if it was for pool use, it was pouring raining and cold, not able to use. $58/day for parking, pretty steep. This hotel was pricey enough without the extra fees that were not disclosed in the Booking.com listing. Our room was overlooking the pool and the windows provided zero buffering from the noise below, including the music I assume was being played from the restaurant. No full length mirror.

Beautiful boutique hotel, such a great vibe! Excellent location with walking distance to all the shops and restaurants & waterfront. Staff is super nice and helpful! Especially loved the bar atmosphere and the amazing bartenders, phenomenal drinks! Rooms were clean and updated, nice retro look. We would absolutely stay again!
- 4/5
Clean and fresh hotel in a great location. So close to many of the main sites in Charleston.
- 5/5
Excellent boutique hotel. Walking distance to all downtown sites and restaurants. Would stay there again and recommend it to friends.
- 3/5
Was okay, feel there are much better spots to stay at. Location was great though but expected more for the price. Premium king room was extremely small. Do not get a room on the 4th floor, it is a nightmare to go to your room as the main elevator only goes to the 3rd floor than you have to walk the long hallways to go to another elevator to get to the 4th floor. Staff was friendly though
- 3/5
Location was good. All staff very friendly. Comfortable rooms. The first room in was off bar and music blaring at night could not sleep and then music at bat turned on at 0700 with no one out there. We moved to another room off street with construction and school bus parking and was so loud. Products for hair and body not good. It was very expensive for all the noise. The repairs done in the room and paint job around outlets etc very cheaply done. Could use some soundproof windows or something more than the current.

Great centralized location Difficult to pull in to access valet parking. Difficult to get a rolling luggage carrier. The check in location is downstairs. Hotel is just set up really weird.

Great location

I almost don’t want to share this hidden gem. Even though this hotel is small, it has everything you need for a great stay at affordable price. Our room was clean and spacious. Our shower broke and they immediately replaced a new shower head. Beautiful courtyard where my husband watched a game while we sat having drinks by the fireplace and listening to a live steel drum singer. The staff was polite and location couldn’t have been better. We will definitely be staying again. The only con is the small size of the pool which felt like bath water. Otherwise, we had a perfect stay at the Ryder Hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was excellent - atmosphere, location, food, service.
- 5/5
And outdoor seating. They’ve thought of everything. And the location is excellent.
- 5/5
It was great! The location was perfect! The hotel pool bar was a nice bonus. Would highly recommend.
- 3/5
Inadequate staff training and not enough staff at the front desk and the parking. Outrageous cost of hotel fees: pet etc.
- 4/5
Our room was not the best. Located on 2nd floor directly next to the bar. So no way to open curtains and loud at night and in the morning while staff is preparing for the day.
- 5/5
Cannot wait to come back! Loved all the little touches, the service, the room was very clean and location was perfect!
- 5/5
This hotel was in a great location and was perfect for our Charleston visit. Staff was wonderful. The valet parking is actually under the hotel so your vehicle is accessible if you need to get something from it but don't want to actually check it out. Amazing staff and lots of amenities. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed.
- 3/5
-cute aesthetic - great location it’s in a prime location in the city Cons - tiny pool is rented out on resort pass- we booked this hotel primarily because the pool was so pretty in pictures. In person it was a bit dated. Also beware there are only like 10 lounge chairs an 3 benches they call “cabanas” they rent them out in resort pass so ppl who aren’t staying there are using the amenities. This was terrible conspiring the pool is so small and seating is very limited. Needless to say finding a seat was impossible. - my room was not cleaned properly I found globs of hair on the floor. - it’s very cute but also dated it felt more like a beach hotel than a city hotel
- 5/5
Parking very expensive
- 4/5
Room & hotel were clean and staff was helpful. The noise level of the music played at the bar was high and kept us up at night.
- 3/5
Overall experience was ok. Housekeeping did not clean the first day. We had no shower wash. I requested that they re-fill it. They didn’t, and also took our used soap and did not replace it. We had to request soap from the front desk when we got back to our room at midnight. In addition they did not re-fill coffee pods for our coffee maker. Staff was friendly enough but overall they missed the mark.
- 5/5
I have no bad things to say. From service to decor, everything was top notch. Also love how the hotel smells!
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel, beautiful room, great balcony, nice pool, and accommodating staff I would definitely return
- 5/5
Ideal location for walking to points of interest around Charleston. Most importantly accommodations were very clean, room was spacious and staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Charleston especially if they don’t have a car.
- 4/5
Room was clean. Area was a little noisier than I normally like as I was awoken out of my sleep one night due to truck deliveries.
- 5/5
Check in was quick and easy very friendly staff and very accommodating
- 5/5
Staff were friendly. Rooms could have used some touch up but they were fun, Maid service could be better. Overall a nice hotel. Great location.
- 5/5
The pool is so nice. The rooms and gardens are so clean.
- 2/5
Bathroom was very small and there was no water pressure
- 4/5
Overall, wonderful stay. The pool and Little Palm was great! The rooms were cute and the coffee shop was convenient. However, our room was a Premier King and, for the amount we paid, we had no view (completely covered by bush and gate, felt a bit jailish), the room was incredibly loud as it backed up to the restaurant, and the staff wasn’t as friendly as expected. We had a nice time all in all, but the ROI was lacking.
- 5/5
Very nice place to stay and the location is perfect!!!
- 3/5
The location was perfect, the bed was really comfortable. The staff was nice. We had room 206 and beware, it is literally in the middle of their outdoor restaurant. We are not opposed to noise, we were there to enjoy the atmosphere also. However 5 days of the music so loud and starting again at 7am when the staff comes to drag tables along the floors was a bit rough.

Clean room, great environment. There were some glitches, one day we didn't have hot water and we didn't have a phone in the room to call front desk. But overall, would definitely go back. Great location and all very nice folks working there.
- 5/5
I will say that my room was very clean and had cute fixtures throughout but there were dark scuffs along the whole entry side of the wall. The bathroom’s metal toilet paper dispenser was nearly detached from the wall. The toilet was also very wobbly and was also detached from the wall. The shower water pressure was low and the water temperature ran cold during one of my showers. The above wouldn’t deter me from staying here again though. Overall it was a great stay at The Ryder.
- 3/5
The room was extremely small. The bathroom was tiny. You had to shut the door to get ready. Would not stay here for the price.
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic. We will return!
- 5/5
Pool was always super busy as they allow passes to non-guests.
- 5/5
The staff was so accommodating. They brought up a box fan and rollaway bed which they set up and fixed for us. Pool area was fun, coffee shop was good.
- 5/5
The Ryder hotel is lovely, staff is friendly and attentive.
- 3.5/5
The location of the Ryder is ideal, very close to great restaurants, bars, shopping and easy walking distance to the beautiful French quarter and the seafront. The Bed was comfy, shower was very good. we had breakfast in the Palm on one morning and the granola, muffin and coffee's were better than expected. The room wasn't very big. The easy chair in the room wasn't comfortable and the lack of carpet or rugs gave the room a stark, cold feel.
- 5/5
This hotel was so cute and the pool and restaurant/bar area were really great.
- 2/5
It seems the vast majority of the rooms are around the courtyard which has loud music n TVs blaring until midnight. Checked out after one night.
- 5/5
Nice suite overlooking the pool. Plenty of room to spread out.
- 5/5
Would definitely stay again. Maybe skip the pool area
- 5/5
Breakfast menu was fine but the bakery items, croissants in particular, could be much better. Room clean, comfortable and stylish. Staff helpful and friendly. Welcome drink a nice touch. Bar inside and out was attractive and comfortable. The cushions another pool need to be recovered. I do not think you should reserve and make guests pay for the couches by the pool.
- 2/5
The property is very dated and dingy. The pool area is nice, but while the property indicates it’s only for guests and day-pass purchasers, the hotel does not monitor this, so anyone can come and use the pool. It’s very clear that this is widely known, and the pool area is overrun with partiers. For the nightly rate, I’d recommend staying just about anywhere else in downtown Charleston.
- 4/5
Be aware of a $38 daily "Amenity fee," and a "Credit Card Recovery Fee." Those made our stay nearly $250 per night. Also, on-site parking is valet, at $58 per day. We opted for a nearby self park at a max of $24 per day if you don't take the car out.
- 5/5
Great our door space
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, cool decor and pool
- 3/5
The gym also was .4 miles away and had to pay a resort fee. Who wants to go that far to work out?? The hotel was nice and clean, staff friendly BUT SO FRUSTRATED about the rooms. Had they updated us prior we all could have gone to same hotel OR they could have sent us both to same location.
- 4/5
The place was clean and the location was excellent. The staff was very nice but the valet attendants were loud and you can hear them right outside the window early in the morning. If it wasn’t for the pool and the noise I would have given them 5 stars.
- 5/5
The Ryder was a beautiful hotel located in a perfect location to see Charleston. The room was large and hotel staff were helpful. Highly recommend.
- 4/5
The best part of the hotel is its beautiful common area decor, pool is small but very comfortable and relaxing, the bars were lovely especially the outside bar was so inviting and a destination. The outdoor bartenders, Ashton and Gavin were so attentive and added to the stay. The indoor bartenders on Tuesday and Wednesday night basically wouldn’t give you the time of day for a very long time with customers sitting in front of them. The front desk staff was 100% amazing and accommodating. As beautiful as the hotel is in its common areas, the rooms left a lot to be desired. Our initial room was very small with absolutely no view, but they were quick to fix the situation as we were staying there most of the week so we greatly appreciated that. We had a maintenance issue, which did take three requests but on the third request someone came right away and solved the problem immediately and was very nice about it.
- 5/5
We were the oldest folks there! It definitely has a young vibe, but we loved it!
- 4/5
Great location, the hotel refurb looks great, enjoyed Little Palm and the coffee shop. Was clean. To be honest, i dont know if its a generational thing, but not very friendly - ot sure what it was. Valet with the moustache was the most helpful.
- 1/5
The noise was HORRIBLE. You hear everything going on at the pool
- 4/5
Great location.
- 4/5
Poolside v busy. Had a few issues but staff eas quick to resolve
- 5/5
great location, clean room, many restaurants and shops nearby
- 5/5
Excellent location and such a fun, and cool hotel! We loved our stay there
- 5/5
Great walking location excellent Staff and pool area!
- 5/5
Fun stay. Great pool area! Cool rooms!
- 2/5
We were on the fourth floor which is a chore to get to. They didn’t tell use we’d have to get off on the third floor walk across the hotel and get on another elevator. The water pressure was a nightmare. It would go from a full hot shower to a cold drop and then blast you with freezing water. We will not be staying here again. Very disappointed. The Ryder was on my bucket list.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, amenities, location
- 5/5
Very helpful
- 5/5
Clean facilities, friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Only less than ideal aspect is amenity fee, which was not explicitly discussed during booking process or at check in. This seems pretty typical nowadays and is fairly reasonable, but would have been nice to know or even just pay upfront/price into booking.
- 5/5
cute and clean
- 5/5
Our room did not have much extra space. But we only spent one night there. The hotel was a convenient walk to the sights and food of Charleston.
- 3/5
Great location. Pool and bar are fantastic. Never had hot water. Cold showers are not the vibe.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Excellent location and very friendly staff and clean rooms and lots of cool amenities.
- 5/5
We loved everything about this hotel! From the Sangria greeting, the amazing Valet that not only parked our car, but delivered and picked up our luggage, the charming decor and fabulous pool area with its amazing bartender! We’ll be back!
- 4/5
Love the outdoor fireplace and lounge areas.
- 3/5
Room is very small. Small table is bolted to armoire preventing 2 from dining on it. The a/c was finally repairedon our last night. NO body soap in shower, only hand & hair shampoo & conditioner. The view from room 218 is spectacular!
- 5/5
Clean, great location
- 5/5
Our room was small, but comfortable and clean. The bar, pool area and restaurant were great for hanging out after a day of sightseeing. The food was good at the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. Coffee bar was quite expensive.
- 5/5
Loved the outside bar and patio. It was jun that they had curling set up for the Olympics!
- 5/5
Great spot in Charleston with beautiful pool and restaurant. 3 min walk to collage of Charleston
- 5/5
Staff was geeat
- 5/5
Wonderful, clean, unique friendly. I will say the process the bar were very, very high
- 4/5
Staff were excellent!
- 5/5
everything was very nice. I only wished I could have had some sort of view from my room, I basically had a view of a concrete pad (that I was not able to access) and the window into another hotel room. The advertising was misleading, I expected at least access to a balcony or outdoor area from my room
- 5/5
Staff was wonderful. Hotel is in a great location.
- 5/5
Great place great location
- 5/5
Everything! The hotel itself is so cute, comfortable, location is wonderful!
- 4/5
Cute boutique hotel in a great location! Walking distance to shops and restaurants and the beds were very comfortable. Parking is a challenge and expensive, and the “hot” water doesn’t get very hot (barely warm shower) and they couldn’t fix it.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, great accommodations
- 4/5
The staff were friendly and the location was great. The outdoor space and bar were fun and the aesthetic was funky. However, I am unsure what I got for my $38/day resort fee (not even a free cup of coffee or breakfast) and the daily $58 valet parking seemed high. The rooms were well appointed and I loved the robes, but a bit tired and my shower had some mold. It was annoying to have to walk 10 minutes and check in at another hotel to go to the gym.
- 1/5
No hot water for 2 days!
- 2/5
Had no tv the entire time and it could not be corrected. Room was not as clean as I would expect. Stayed there before and it was great. This time it was not good at all.
- 3/5
Rooms are decent. Good location. Waitress at Little Palms for breakfast just was not nice. Will stay elsewhere next time.

Our room upon arrival smelled of chlorine bleach. I asked for a change and the other room smelled the same. Those with scent issues beware. Our showers pressure was terrible and did not have hot water. This was remedied quickly, but a request to address the smell was never followed up. Parking a total rip off at $58 a day. But all hotels here gouge guests in similar fashion. There is a parking garage around the corner at $24 for 12 hours. As hotels in Charleston go this one is fairly reasonable so I guess concessions need to be made. Not sure I’d stay again though….
- 4/5
rooms were clean. the only thing that stood out is that room doors and room windows were not properly sealed, allowing outside noise to be heard. like a lot
- 5/5
Great staff, nice rooms. Good location. Would definitely recommend!!
- 3/5
Staff was great, the rooms weren't as nice as in the pictures and they don't respond when you answer their texts. But overall it was nice and we were able to walk everywhere
- 5/5
Pretty hotel with a nice staff and very clean rooms. Loved having the restaurant, bar and coffee shop on the premises.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved it here, just booked again
- 2/5
The room was directly next to an elevator shaft and the window panes did not
- 3/5
Staff wasn’t responsive to calls to the front desk, not great room service or housekeeping. A bit overhyped and overpriced
- 5/5
Everything was great, very nice and comfortable room. Great amenities, and friendly team. Would definitiley stay again, but we would ask for a room with a better view. The room was cave like because we face a wall and overlooked the driveway to the parking.
- 5/5
Darling hotel, perfect downtown location, great customer service and love the bar and restaurant. We will be back!
- 4/5
Nice staff, great location, but the room could have been cleaner.
- 4/5
Comfy vibes and helpful staff. Unfortunately, the AC in our room was not consistently working, the bathroom mirror was cracked, and the room was definitely tight. It would have been nice to switch to a new room, but we were too busy exploring the beauties of Charleston to care much about the room. I would definitely recommend the Ryder Hotel if you are planning to just have a cozy place to sleep.
- 5/5
Great location, comfortable beds.
- 5/5
Hotel was clean & staff friendly. Great coffee shop and location was perfect to walk everywhere.
- 5/5
Very cozy-eclectic vibe - bar, pool, pool huts were great and our room was large, comfortable and cozy.
- 5/5
Room was clean and hotel was nice. Very walkable
- 5/5
Everything was top-notch at the hotel - the service, decor, and cleanliness. Our only issue was the pervasive aromatics. It was hard to sleep with them, and we were all congested the next day.
- 5/5
Such a fun little hotel
- 4/5
That said, the service did not match the quality of the hotel. Upon arrival, we were told valet was not available and had to park our car a block away, which was unexpected and inconvenient. At checkout, we waited quite a while for assistance, only to later realize my card had been charged twice for the stay. Resolving this required waiting on hold for about 45 minutes before finally reaching someone to process the refund. The hotel itself is great and has so much potential, but the service experience fell short. With better communication and more attentive guest support, this could easily be an excellent stay.
- 3/5
Water is not hot enough, AC have noise.
- 2/5
Lied to me.
- 5/5
Welcomed with a cold bottle of champagne amd treats in the spotless room. Staff is amazing! Definitely staying here again.
- 5/5
All of it was great
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Everything was clean and comfortable
- 3/5
The hotel was close to everything. Too many hidden fee charges. We ended up paying over 300+ in charges so although the hotel stay was a deal when you add up everything it ends up more expensive.
- 5/5
Staff was great. We had trouble with the wifi so they moved us to another room with better reception. Room was spotless.
- 5/5
Amenities
- 5/5
Great design
- 5/5
Great Location! Clean rooms. Fun bar/ restaurant.
- 5/5
Very attentive and friendly staff. Great location and price point
- 5/5
Quiet
- 5/5
The resort was absolutely stunning. The vibe was on point and the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Location was perfect for checking out the market and downtown. I highly recommend and I will be coming back for a longer visit.
- 4/5
Charming decor and the staff were nice and responsive. The room could have been cleaner when we checked in but the staff took care of it right away.
- 5/5
Immaculate and adorably decorated. We loved the food and drinks so much we had multiple meals there. Staff was courteous and rooms were super comfortable and cute. Best place for selfies and we had a wonderful girls weekend and 50th birthday celebration
- 5/5
Very cool place with extremely friendly staff all around.
- 5/5
Cute hotel with unique decor and wonderful spaces to enjoy. Great location and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Great location. Quiet and affordable Great experience
- 3/5
No good coffee and tea in the room no slippers
- 5/5
Top notch in every way.
- 3/5
The room was nice but we never had any housekeeping services during our 3 night stay which was frustrating. We had no refreshed towels and had to go to the front desk to ask for toilet paper as we ran out during the stay. Coffee bar and Little Palm was the only bright spot of the stay.
- 5/5
Friendly welcoming staff. Beautiful property with an excellent location for everything in old city. The rooms are well appointed and lovely, quiet as well. A small refrigerator would be an excellent addition. We stay at this beautiful property whenever we are in town
- 5/5
Ideal room in a perfect location.
- 3/5
However, the layout proved odd. Having to take an elevator up to the third floor, walk down two hallways to get on yet another elevator and then walk down two other hallways again. The stairs ended up being much quicker (which was fine with me, but my friends complained it was annoying after we walked around all day). The phone in our room did not work when we arrived. We called the hotel/reservations line, who then attempted to call the Front Desk for us, but no one answered. Since we were in and out of the room for the stay, we just decided to relay any requests we had to the Front Desk directly. I LOVED being able to text the valet to pull my car around. That is a very convenient feature that not even some Five Star properties don't even offer. My only actual complaint is that I was billed after I checked out for an additional 12 dollars and some change. Unsure if that is just a pending charge, but found it odd because I settled my charges at the desk and did not visit any of the other outlets before leaving. I also tipped the bellman/valet in cash. Overall though it was a pleasant experience. The hotel is in a perfect location to be able to walk around downtown Charleston. Especially so if you want to get tons of shopping done on King St.
- 5/5
Staff and hotel itself was great!
- 3/5
Room smelled of ammonia and we were moved to another room with only 1 bed not the 2 we ordered. They promised a change but did not. They did not adjust price til we demanded it. On check out they charged for 5 days of valet instead of 1. They charged fee to use credit card to check into hotel
- 1/5
Everything didn’t get to stay there was turned away rooms were over sold. Please need refund, staff extremely rude didn’t want to help us after a 30 hour flight from Australia
- 5/5
Large room good location
- 5/5
Great stay, great room, great breakfast
- 5/5
Great stay nice staff nice property
- 3/5
The music at the bar is loud and you can hear it in your room. Luckily it stops
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
This aspect of the hotel was excellent but everything else was average.
- 5/5
Great place to stay in Charleston.
- 5/5
Need a snack shop for soda's or chips, etc...
- 5/5
The Ryder Hotel was conveniently located and kept clean
- 5/5
Thx
- 4/5
Room was rudimentary but comfortable. Staff was outgoing and engaging. Hotel location was good for all my needs and the parking garage was convenient.
- 5/5
Great location with nice amenities.
- 5/5
This hotel is a great location for downtown. Centrally located and walking distance to most everything. Hotel was lovely with a boutique style and friendly staff.
- 3/5
They kept charging my card random additional holds each night, still haven’t gone away like they said they would. The pool charges were disgusting. Great location. Shower didn’t drain properly and was not up to par. Cute aesthetic. Room was pretty clean.
- 5/5
Great as always!
- 5/5
I fell in the garage and hurt myself pretty bad. Uneven pacement
- 3/5
The property and room were very clean. The restaurant and bar had great options. Overall, we were underwhelmed for the price though. The furniture and decor were cheap throughout the hotel, the phone in the room didn’t work and it was difficult to get a hold of the front desk using our cell phones for help getting an iron to the room. Housekeeping came to our door at 8:50 AM on a Saturday and after telling them we’d be out of the room shortly they never came back to clean the room.
- 5/5
Pool area and location
- 5/5
We would definitely stay here again. Great location!
- 5/5
Super cute hotel in an excellent location. Could walk to many different places. It’s right by King street which was really nice. We loved the rooftop pool/bar area. Overall amazing vibes and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!
- 5/5
Liked the decor. Clean. Comfortable beds. Delicious breakfasts.
- 5/5
Lovely boutique hotel in a walkable area. Little Palm is attached and a delicious restaurant as well
- 5/5
Great place to stay! Everyone was very nice. Place was clean and food was great
- 5/5
We absolutely loved the location and especially the mattress.
- 4/5
Loved this hotel and all the staff. The lobby isn’t very accessible, but otherwise everything was amazing. The valet guys were personable and efficient, and we loved the poolside service!
- 5/5
The rooms are comfy and not fancy. We made the mistake of not checking up on what room we’d be in and they put us in one facing the bar/restaurant. But the kindly switched us to one facing the street, which provides light and less noise. The pool and bar and restaurant are great and nice to have a cafe there as well. Best feature is the location. Walking distance to everything and in the historic district.
- 4/5
This hotel was great save for the lack of a front desk employee to help with check in and out. There was someone there, but not at the desk. Check out very early in the morning I had to wait for nearly 30 min for them to show up. It would have been easier if I could have just left and been sent a digital receipt.
- 5/5
Located close to the downtown area and the French Quarter. Very walkable to these areas. Very nice pool with bar service. The on-site restaurant was nice; the food was excellent. The place is not too pricey.
- 5/5
Other than that it was perfect. Small pool great bar and restaurant. Excellent service. Quiet. great location to walk for anything from food to shopping.
- 4/5
Beautiful property, great location, the only negative is that there are lots of hidden fees that the front desk doesn’t disclose. I was told $100 a day for incidentals that would be returned to me if everything was ok at checkout. Turns out they also have daily charges of $35/day plus daily tax of $10 plus another $4 for some other reason. So if you have a car parked there’s a charge for that too. You ended up paying easily like 400-500 dollars a night for this hotel in the end.
- 3/5
Property location is the best part of this hotel. Its an easy walk to shopping and dining. Property was clean. Con's: The parking is expensive The hotel layout is like a "U", making the walk to the room far. Strong smell of chlorine on the 2nd floor. The complimentary drink was served in a small plastic cup from a premixed bottle stored at the front desk, it was a strange experience compared to other places I've stayed that offers a complimentary drink. I will not stay at this property on my next trip to Charleston.
- 2/5
My room the first night was in the bar. It was so noisy. I don’t know how anyone could stay in this room. I requested a new room and the hotel was full. The staff did not seem to want to help me. The next day the staff did help me get a new room that was quieter, but smelled funky. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- 5/5
Cute boutique hotel! Great, Friendly staff
- 5/5
Nice property very convenient to shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
The wait staff provided average service, with nothing that stood out as exceptional. Additionally, we were given two drink vouchers, but unfortunately, these could not be used at the coffee bar. As a result, we had to give them away prior to our departure.
- 1/5
The furniture is worn out and stains everywhere. The carpets are thinning. Beautiful design that needs upkeep.
- 2/5
Our room was hard to get to from Lobby long hallways to last room. On second floor on a very busy street all night long. We got no sleep. Heavy traffic sounds, all night. I would not stay again. Several other Hotels with similar luxury in area.
- 3/5
The hotel is in a great location and the staff is very helpful and kind. The room was a bit dirty - the cups weren't clean and the comforter had makeup stains all over it (we just flipped it). Overall it is a great hotel with the exception of the room not being super clean. Other than that, it was great.
- 5/5
Location was perfect. Could walk everywhere.
- 4/5
The hotel was in a great location to walk around some key areas. I mainly chose it for the pool/bar area. The pool and “Little Palm” area was so cute and fun! However, they didn’t tell us until check in that the whole area would be closed for a private party 1 of the 2 days we were there which was disappointing. I would’ve chosen a different hotel had I known we didn’t get to use the pool amenities. And while I know the staff was doing their job, but the number of times we were told about this closure or asked where we were going when simply trying to go to our room, it felt like we weren’t welcome at the place I was paying to stay. It was also very loud through the night…walls are super thin. People were in the halls from 1-4am and it felt like their conversations were in our room. Otherwise, super cute, great wait staff at the pool the day we got to go and close to King St and Market St!
- 5/5
We loved the hotel's decor. The pool and bar area with the backyard bar was beautiful. Beds and pillows so comfortable. One thing I would add is minifridge for the room, but otherwise 5 star!!
- 5/5
Great stay. Great pool. Little palms had great food. Close to everything. High recommended
- 5/5
The customer service at the Ryder Hotel was excellent! The hotel was clean and in a convenient location.
- 4/5
"Go Blue" The Valets were also very nice. It is within walking distance to many things and I did enjoy the hotel!
- 4/5
The rooms were really cute and designed nicely. There was no fridge in the room which we really missed. The pool was small and often we couldn’t get a lounger there. Service in the restaurant and bar were really sub par. We left the restaurant one day after waiting 15 minutes without being acknowledged even though many people made eye contact. Our last night there was a wedding and a party going on in a room across the hall. They were in and out slamming doors and yelling in the hallway until late. The hotel tried to deal with it but weren’t successful. There is a big gap under the doors where a lot of noise comes in. We stuffed towels along the bottom of the door to try dampen some noise. I’d suggest trying to amend that. The front desk and valet staff were great and super friendly. Overall it was a good stay but a few improvements could be made.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable. The location is great for walking around downtown Charleston. We appreciated the pool on a hot summer day, though it is rather small for the size of the hotel. We got lucky scooping up loungers both times we went to the pool. The drinks at the pool bar were delicious!
- 5/5
It was a great location to do anything I wanted to do in downtown Charleston
- 5/5
Clean room easy check in and out. Great little pool area.
- 5/5
Gorgeous hotel in a cute and safe area
- 5/5
I went for my Bach trip! So pretty, everyone was so nice. Service is 10/10. Very walkable - sits between the markets and King st. Less than 25 mins from the airport. My gals and I had a fantastic stay.
- 3/5
Positives were that the hotel restaurant, coffee shop, and bar were nice and the workers at those places were very friendly. We wouldn’t stay here again, but it was only for 3 nights and the location made it somewhat worth the drawbacks.
- 4/5
Close walking to everything in the area.
- 5/5
Loved my stay!!
- 5/5
I had a great stay at the Ryder while I was in town for a conference. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even helping me mail a package and do a few other unexpected chores. The vibe is very instagramable, which isn't really my thing but it was still nice to be somewhere it was clear thought had been put into the aesthetic and people cared about how the hotel was presented (rather than your usual boring hotel). I didn't get a chance to use most of the ammenities, but I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
The room was large, clean and the mattress was very comfortable We loved the outdoor space and restaurant. Breakfast was very good and loved the atmosphere. My only suggestion is maybe another bartender during happy hour. Had to wait over 20 minutes to get a drink. The bartender was slammed and couldn't keep up.
- 2/5
The the hotel room was kind of annoying bash my legs on the bed constantly my mother ripped her toe off on the tub getting out of the shower and there was no refrigerator which I needed it for my medicine
- 5/5
Great hotel and reasonably priced right in the heart of Charleston. Our room was so cozy and clean. The pool was the perfect size and honestly not that crowed and the bar was grear
- 3/5
Lack of attention to detail. Our room was not clean as expected. Dust bunnies , lack of desk no chair. Towel racks pulling out of wall . Toilet tissue holder pulled out of wall . Body wash dispenser empty. Disappointment all the way around. JB
- 5/5
Love The Ryder Hotel! Location is wonderful as well as the pool and coffee shop! Rooms are clean and modern and the staff is very helpful. Planning on staying there again soon!
- 5/5
I liked this hotel a lot but if you stay on the fourth floor you’re going to get lost guaranteed they built the higher floor on the opposite side of the building Other than that it was good
- 5/5
Fun vibe. Great location. Pool area so cool. Borrowed bikes, beach chairs and a cooler!!
- 5/5
Great beach getaway feeling. Super staff, loved the pool.
- 4/5
All was great with the stay except for the extra charges when checking out. $35 daily “amenities charge”, not even sure what that means. A $10 credit card usage charge ? I get I pay for food charged to room HOWEVER I assumed my reservation thru Expedia included all room charges, and taxes including pool usage?!
- 5/5
Hotel was absolutely adorable. The vibe was super
- 5/5
Walkable to everything in Downtown Charleston!
- 5/5
The hotel is in the heart of Charleston and we were able to walk everywhere. The hotel rooms are so cute and beds very comfy! We loved the pool and restaurant attached to it. The coffee shop was awesome too!
- 4/5
Easy access to shopping, theater district, food. Elevator access was difficult when hotel is full.
- 5/5
loved it!
- 5/5
The property was great! Rooms were spacious and we could walk everywhere we wanted to go.
- 5/5
Such a great hotel. Location is just right.
- 1/5
Reserved a two queen room, when I arrived they didn’t have one and I was stuck in a tiny room with just one queen, too late to find another room. So we had to share a bed. Unacceptable I didn’t get what I paid for and was not given a discount. Will never stay here again.
- 5/5
This hotel is stunning and the staff are so kind! We had our baby in tow and the bar let us take our drinks and food up to the room. Valet was so nice and the hotel is gorgeous! It’s in a great location! Will stay again for sure!
- 2/5
We were given the smallest room in the hotel at 150 square feet. We could barely get into the bathroom. We asked to be moved after a day and they did move us. The hotel then lost power at midnight and we had no air through the night or any power in the morning. We were packing in the pitch black with our iPhone flashlights. Hallways were completely black. 2 days later and we have not received any communication from the hotel which I think is terrible. We did like the hotel and location otherwise but our experience was not a good one.
- 3/5
The hotel lost power during our stay and their generators weren’t working, which left us in an 85 degree room overnight. While the power outage is out of the control of the staff, the overall handling of the situation was incredibly poor
- 5/5
Super cute hotel. Definitely not your cookie cutter big box hotel. Every human I encountered has been coached in hospitality and has bought into the program. I had a great stay.
- 5/5
Great property and location is perfect to walk the city.
- 5/5
Everything about this property was great!!
- 5/5
We arrived early and were greeted with prompt valet service. We enjoyed the pool while our room was getting ready. Great cocktails and fun atmosphere. Rooms were easy to access and the location of our hotel was nearby a lot of good places to eat and shop. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be back.
- 4/5
The hotel was fabulous! I wish there was more communication about little Palm and how the reserved tables worked. We were at the pool early and saw reserved on the tables and had every intention of having lunch but assumed the tables were pre reserved only to learn that a group not staying at the hotel came in and were seated for lunch at the pool. Maybe even informed us when we book
- 3/5
Overall was a beautiful hotel. You could tell it is still working out service kinks.
- 3/5
Cute hotel within walking distance to everything we wanted. Loved the ability to borrow items for a beach day as well! Our only complaints were the cleanliness of the floors as there was something sticky in a couple spots from the day we arrived and throughout our stay that also included hair and gum on floor that was not ours. We could also hear and feel the vibration of the spin cycle from the washers as early as 7am to as late as 10pm throughout our stay.
- 4/5
Overall the Ryder hotel was a good option for us. Rooms were clean and good size. Pool area was cute but small. If you are driving to the beach they had chairs, towels, etc. to borrow but no sun umbrellas but overall a good selection. Location to dinning and the market shopping was walkable. Some place are a little longer walk (15 mins so it just depends on what you like). Limited onsite dinning menu (no kids meal so not for the picky eater). Room was not cleaned during our 2 night stay. No one answered when I call to get extra towels. Only parking is valet and it's $53/night (this does seem to be going rate for the area). Resort fee includes $10/night credit but it's only applied on each day so you can't do $20 one day and $0 the next (we were leaving at 5 a.m. so it wasn't really a perk). Overall a cute place with comfy beds.
- 2/5
I was put in a handicap room with only handheld shower
- 5/5
Clean and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Love the location and friendly staffs. The shower was not draining. The repair guy show up within an hour after we called and took only 5 minutes to fix it. That was impressed. My boyfriend is a big guy. He thought the room was a bit small for him and asked if we can get another room. Then we were upgraded to a bigger room with a balcony the next day. That's super nice.
- 5/5
The Ryder Hotel was a fun stay for our anniversary weekend in Charleston. It's a great location, just a block or so away from Market St., and so many restaurants and shopping areas. The pool was a major attraction, as it's one of the few hotels in Charleston to feature one, and we definitely enjoyed it. The rooms were comfortable and felt new.
- 3/5
The a.c. in the room was intermittent and threw on the 3rd day there it finally went out, leaving a massive build up of electric fire smell and smoke in the room. Thank God it didn’t happen in the middle of the night. It was too noxious to stay in the room at all and our clothes smelled like smoke. They quickly changed our room but offered no compensation for the crazy inconvenience. We thought we were going to die packing our stuff back up to move rooms because you couldn’t really breathe in the room with that smoke. The people were nice though and the facilities are super cute and had exactly the right vibe for the area. So much better than an average hotel.
- 5/5
I highly recommend and will be back!
- 5/5
Nice place to stay with a great location in Charleston. Good place for girls trip – lots of pink, parties, and pool-time.
- 4/5
Great rooms and location but for the $$$ money, the rooms were very loud and you could hear everything. I would expect these to be quiet and tranquil.
- 5/5
Excellent staff & great hotel would highly recommend
- 3/5
It was okay. There were so so many choices of hotels for my first time in Charleston! My gf and I searched and searched on Tik tok until settling in the Ryder. It was very expensive albeit the 4th of July weekend. About 400 a nite
- 5/5
Very clean hotel room and bathroom. It was in a great area for exploring Charleston.
- 5/5
I went on my first trip to Charleston since my husband passed so I was alone.I am a Employee of IHG and usually stay at one of their places with my discount but wanted to be in a place that I felt was a treat for me.And it was.Everyone was so Friendly.I would sit at the pool or even the bar at night and not feel alone.Loved the place. If I had one complaint it would only be that the shower floor was slippery when it was wet.Would definetly stay again when I can afford it.My son lives there so I do go a few times a year.Wonderful trip.I would highly recommend.
- 5/5
The coffee bar is a nice bonus in the front of the building with good options and not bad pricing.
- 4/5
I loved the property's location, but I was disappointed with the services. The phone in the room did not work. This would not have been a problem if there had been any other way to contact the front desk, room service, maintenance, etc.
- 5/5
Property location was excellent and convenient. It was beautifully decorated, has a wonderful restaurant on site, pool was nice and in house coffee shop was enjoyable as well. Overall, highly recommend. *More family friendly during the week; weekend was clearly a great spot for parties or adult gatherings.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay! Everyone was nice & very helpful! Many seating areas to gather with friends. Nice bar & restaurant for breakfast. Coffee bar was great! My only complaint is there needs to be more lounges & chairs around pool. Would have loved to spend some time there after shopping, but there was never any room! Overall, it was a nice, boutique style hotel!
- 5/5
Nice location with fast easy walk to restaurants. Rooms are simple and nice. Pool area was busy. Many people with day passes so not many chairs for guests from the hotel. Overall would definitely recommend.
- 1/5
There are only 11 pool loungers for the entire hotel, and they’re usually gone by 8:30 AM. Most other seating is reserved for people buying day passes or cabanas, and the pool is completely open to the public — by 1 PM, it was packed with non-guests. The pool was definitely “clubby” and not relaxing or kid friendly. Hotel guests are clearly an afterthought here. Rooms are cute and spacious, but you can hear everything through the walls, there’s no fridge in the rooms, and the layout isn’t accessible especially with only one elevator. The garage of “free” gear sounds great, but everything’s snatched up early, making it more of a gimmick than an amenity. I was horrified to find out at check out that we paid a $35 amenity fee each day.. for what exactly? We were better off staying somewhere else and paying the $30 pool pass that is available to the public. What’s especially frustrating is that I now suspect the glowing reviews are heavily curated. I’ve spoken with other guests who feel the same way I do, and it’s hard not to believe that negative reviews are filtered while influencer content is paid for.
- 4/5
No mini fridge in the room which was a pain but overall my stay was lovely. Room was clean. Property staff were friendly and helpful. My room was dark since it was facing a courtyard and the window covered in vines. Had to keep shades closed in order to maintain privacy. You can’t beat the location. Right in the middle of everything.
- 5/5
Hotel was beautiful and in a prime location, the pool area was amazing!
- 4/5
Lovely, "beachy" decor. Convenient location for downtown amenities. Floorplan and elevators needed a learning curve to navigate.
- 5/5
Such a cute hotel! Only complaint is that I wish only hotel guests could utilize the pool. It was always crowded and hard to get chairs and almost all there weren’t guests.
- 5/5
Loved the location and amenities. Will definitely stay at The Ryder again!
- 3/5
Great location. Property looking a bit worn. Pretty average. Be aware that there’s a $35+ “resort fee” tacked on per day.
- 2/5
The air conditioner
- 5/5
The Ryder was the perfect hotel for our girls trip. Very retro and fun vibes. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. The location couldn't have been better. It was close to everything we wanted to walk to. I do wish they had more seating at the pool. Half the deck is rentable sofas and the other half is very large upholstered loungers. Only a few people can get seats and the others are left lurking and waiting for one to open up. I also wish there was a coffee maker and fridge in the room. None of these are things that would cause me to not come back, just touches that would be nice when you pay as much as you do to stay here.
- 5/5
Such a cute hotel!! Love the vibes!! The robes and the pink T3 hair dryers are a huge plus! In a great location as well.
- 5/5
Great location and staff. My only negative was the cockroach in the bathroom one morning.
- 5/5
Excellent location to walk to all the main attractions in Charleston.
- 5/5
We were all happy with our stay at the Ryder and will definitely be back. Love the pool area. Great food and drinks! Great location!
- 2/5
The first room I was in was filthy. I went to bed laid in the sheets, and they were never even changed the next room that I got had hair in the shower. The staff was wonderful, but the cleanliness was disgusting.
- 5/5
Great location, trendy boutique hotel
- 2/5
Disappointed on my last trip at Ryder. Stayed here before and had a good experience BUT this was the first time I tried to use the pool. There are 11 lounge chairs and it’s first come first serve. Fair. But what’s not fair is they sell day passes to people who are NOT staying on the property. So there are not enough chairs for your guests but you sell spots to others? Our plan was to have a girls trip by the pool. The Ryder had other plans for us. Next time I will stay somewhere else.

I am still in shock over the amount of money I just paid for our stay. Small boutique hotel in good location, with great marketing advertising…but what you actually get is along line of 2 star hotel. The tiny pool and small bar is quaint -it is trendy with lots of bachelorette parties going on. The front desk attendant at night was no help at all and 1/2 time no one was manning the lobby area and very non helpful staff Our room smelled of mildew and the lighting was dim at best. Had a view of alley. For $900 on a Friday night I expected way more. Not enough towels, no Kleenex and no fridge or coffee maker in room. Couldn’t believe my daughter and I had to share a bed and couldn’t find us a 2 queen bed room when requested months in advance. Threw away our room service food because undercooked. Carpet unclean and old in hallways. Where is the southern hospitality? Wow-so much buyers remorse right now. Luckily it didn’t influence the good time we had in Charleston, but wouldn’t recommend hotel at all.
