Reviews
The Indigo Inn is a charming, quaint hotel with a beautiful courtyard, offering a great location in the heart of downtown Charleston. Guests frequently praise the friendly and accommodating staff, as well as the complimentary breakfast, wine and cheese happy hour, and milk and cookies at night. However, some guests have complained about outdated rooms, noisy air conditioning, and cleanliness issues.
- Great location in downtown Charleston
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- Outdated rooms and furnishings
- Noisy air conditioning and cleanliness issues

Breakfast just right; wine and cheese lovely; parking close.
- 5/5
This was such a charming stay! The location is perfect to walk to all local attractions and dining and the college of Charleston. The afternoon platter provided a lovely appetizer and the morning breakfast and unlimited coffee was super helpful. I will stay here again in the future. The courtyard was lovely. Check in and check out was very easy we were even able to check in a bit early per request.
- 5/5
Beautiful property! The staff was super friendly and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the cheese and wine spread! Can’t beat the location. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Evening reception was very nice and breakfast was one of the best continentals I’ve had.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

Clean room
- 4/5
The booking process was simple. However, when we checked in we had the last room available and the bathroom light had a strobe effect; they didn't know if it could be repaired during our 4 day stay so moved us to the Jasmine House, which was an upgrade. Larger room, extra amenities. The manager (Julie) at the Indigo Inn was completely empathetic and responsive, which we appreciated. It was a much nicer property than the Indigo Inn, though it should be noted that the rooms at Indigo Inn were nice and clean. It was nice having onsite in-and-out parking.
- 5/5
Being a historic inn, untouched by some of the gleaming conveniences and standardized comforts of a Hilton or Embassy Suites, it possessed for us a far richer charm. Nestled in the very heart of Charleston’s historic district, it offered the quiet grace of a smaller, less crowded refuge, where the pace seemed gentler and the city’s past lingered just beyond the doorstep. Easy parking, a generous complimentary breakfast, evening cookies and milk that recalled simpler times, and a staff whose kindness never felt rehearsed combined to make it, for us, the perfect place from which to experience the enduring spirit of Charleston.
- 5/5
The hotel exterior and courtyard for the historic character of the neighborhood, but rooms were clean and modern.
- 5/5
Perfect location for walking to the market, waterfront park, and shopping on King Street. Parking was easy and convenient. All of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
The hotel is in a perfect location in historic section of Charleston. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the free happy hour in the late afternoons & milk & cookies at 8 pm. :). Breakfast was perfect too. Only disappointment was that Hotels.com indicated parking was included in the price and it wasn't. Would highly recommend!
- 4/5
The continental breakfast is great.
- 5/5
The Inn was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Very nice rooms.
- 4/5
Great location and old school charm. Most affordable place to stay in the French quarter. Breakfast and free wine and cheese was appreciated. Super helpful staff.
- 5/5
We stayed for three great days! The rooms were comfortable and clean. The outside sitting area is clean, pleasant and inviting. The hotel is in the center of everything. You can walk to the bars , restaurants, shops, rainbow row and so much more. They offer a great continental breakfast , charcuterie board with wine in the afternoon, and cookies and milk in the evening . We would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Absolutely perfect location to walk, take bicycle taxis or horse drawn buggies! Loads of restaurants and bars in the area. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the extra perks like constantly available coffee, Arnold Palmer, and cucumber water, as well as a wine and cheese at 5:00 and a lovely continental breakfast made it extra special and a good value for the area. $28 to park but they allow you to stay until 3:00 pm, after their generous 12:00 check out time! We’ll be back for sure!
- 3/5
Breakfast was ok, not great — only place to sit really is outside in courtyard. Parking good but extra $. Location good but room not great. A/C was loud. Courtyard gets loud/sound travels if anyone is talking. Bathroom is really not separate from the small room.
- 3/5
The windows of the rooms face the corridor and, beyond it, the inner courtyard. Our room being located on the side with the elevators, faced another wall. No other room available. Not pleasant!
- 5/5
Off street parking was a bonus. The rooms are clean and the bed was very comfortable.
- 5/5
Lovely boutique hotel with center courtyard for enjoying continental breakfast, wine and cheese in the afternoon, and nightcaps later. Very kind staff. Comfortable rooms. Parking for a fee.
- 1/5
The room snelled like urine when we walked in
- 5/5
Great location and enjoy the activities
- 3/5
I did have a pleasant exchange with the lady who cleaned rooms. I appreciated her conversation on the elevator and her wishes for a good stay. I’d probably stay somewhere else in the future.
- 3.5/5
Great location. The evening wine hour is really lovely, as are the nighttime cookies. Breakfast was good for grabbing something on the go. Staff are knowledgeable and welcoming. The bathroom is minuscule. I have a slight build,so I couldn’t imagine being a larger size and having to maneuver between shower door/bathroom door/toilet. The location of our room was disappointing as well. Tucked in the corner by the elevator and the housekeeping closet, so we knew just when their rounds doing the rooms on our floor started every morning.
- 5/5
Everything was awesome!
- 4/5
We have stayed here before and like the property. The only issue we had is that we made a mistake on our reservation which missed the second night. Because we did it on Expedia we were unable to get a second night from Expedia. We called the Indigo Inn directly and they had 2 nights for over $150 a night extra each night. When asked to book one night paying over $150 more the reservation center $500+said we could not book because no room was available.
- 3/5
There is no hotel phone number on the key holder for me to call from outside to ask any question such as the direction to come back in the situation there is no wifi or network available at the location I am lost
- 5/5
staff was wonderful. Danish in am and chauterrie with complimentary been and wine was a lively surprise. the littlee courtyard is charming and delightful. is delightful.
- 5/5
Excellent experience at Indigo Inn during our stay. Staff are all friendly. Room was clean & quiet, bed comfortable. Breakfast and evening wine & cheese were held in lobby so we had frequent interaction with front desk. Would highly recommend this property. Great location and walkable to all activities. We stayed without a car and walked everywhere with Lyft to Magnolia Gardens & Airport. Hotel has its own parking area.
- 5/5
Highly recommend the Indigo. Quiet, beautiful courtyard, fantastic happy hour and breakfast and very comfortable beds! Will definitely stay again
- 3/5
The breakfast menu was OK. They could have brought in pastries from across the street. I did like the wine and cheese in the afternoon.
- 5/5
The room was nice - slept a bit hot - but a great location and nice atrium.
- 1.5/5
Location Booked for two nights. Got there and only had one night. Shower is way too narrow. Outlets didn’t work in three places. Can see in bathroom. Old/mildew smell in room.
- 5/5
A nice quiet Inn with great daily wine and cheese reception
- 5/5
Very friendly & helpful staff. Enjoyed the breakfast & evening snacks. Parking easy in attached lot for a fee.
- 5/5
They offer a nice breakfast and snacks through out the day. The room is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. I’d return without any doubt.
- 5/5
Excellent location. We walked to all sites and restaurants. Felt very safe. Our room was small but comfortable. Nice breakfast, midday snacks, wine & cheese at 5:00 and cookies in the evening.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great. Easy parking
- 3/5
The main room was very small approx. 12x12. with a queen bed. No windows with outside view which felt confining. I thought is was just our room but I was told it is every room. The only "window" is from your bedroom to walkway facing in where everybody walks by. Hence, you have to keep closed with plantation shutters. All day coffee was very good. Good location. One reason I choose Inn for the parking on site which I thought was included. Turns out it's $28. We were only there overnight so don't know if it is the cost every day. Better call. Nice spread for happy hour hors d'oeuvres, 8pm cookies, and breakfast. Right now Charleston is a one off. If we ever decide to return we will stay else where.
- 5/5
This is our 5th stay over the last 29 years between the Indigo Inn and her sister the Jasmine House. The room was very clean and updated, comfortable bed and needed amenities. The staff were lovely and the included breakfast was perfect. We will definitely be back.
- 4.5/5
Great breakfast and the Happy Hour/snacks was an unexpected perk. Staff were very attentive and polite.. Shower/toilet area was not very accessible
- 4/5
Room was clean but the property grounds were not well maintained. Great location and helpful staff.
- 5/5
Wonderful courtyard to eat breakfast in or have wine and cheese from the hotel in the evening. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. A perfect stay!
- 5/5
Great parking, breakfast and happy hour…..staff kind and extraordinarily helpful!
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and attentive. The only problem I had with the room with the size of the bathroom, which was extremely small and very difficult to negotiate.
- 4/5
Most of the staff was very friendly and very helpful. We did have some issues with the check-in and utilizing the card that we wanted to. The person at the desk did not do what we asked, but thankfully the very sweet lady that was at the front desk that afternoon corrected the mistake and all is well. The muffins at the breakfast were wonderful and the courtyard is quintessential Charleston.
- 5/5
We needed to stay one night at a reasonable rate in Charleston. It is very simple, but the staff and the rooms were perfect, and the breakfast amenities and fresh tea and water were much appreciated. Exceeded expectations
- 5/5
Excellent place
- 4.5/5
The location, the friendliness, the breakfast and happy hour. It was cosy.
- 2/5
We were disappointed in general. We were welcomed by a receptionist who seemed bothered by our presence. Our room did not meet our expectations considering the price when compared to other boutique hotels we have stayed in. Scrimping on little things like falling apart toilet paper, not enough shower soap, dustballs on the floor and a noisy in wall air conditioning unit were disappointing. Yes there were good points as well. The location was very nice with lots of good restaurants, short walking distance to tourist sites, and a very nice central atrium sitting area for morning dining or just conversation. All in all the price was too high for the quality.
- 5/5
Wonderful
- 5/5
Breakfast and snacks were nice, good variety. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful
- 5/5
A great place to stay! Very clean, a very good breakfast, comfortable beds! Ideal location and safe parking!!
- 5/5
Loved the location, walkable for our family of three visiting Charleston. We enjoyed the breakfast pastries and the evening charcuterie board offerings. The quiet hours were a lovely touch. We would recommend the property without hesitation.
- 5/5
My room was nice and the patio where we enjoyed breakfast and the wine and cheese was very nice. My room, however, did not have a bureau for me to put my clothes in so I lived out of my suitcase.
- 2.5/5
Check in, parking, location Inn is tired. Our room was right next to elevator which was noisy at night and in the morning.
- 5/5
Nice cozy place in a great location. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Location, Location, location.... perfect. The breakfast was the same daily which gets old, they bring out cookies around 8pm, but only about 12 so you better be on your game. Rooms were small but nice, toilet room and shower area very small, hard to change in there. But we enjoyed our stay, staff was helpful, room clean, courtyard area very cool.
- 5/5
The property is awesome! All of the staff is amazing!
- 5/5
Loved it!!
- 5/5
Absolutely loved this property! So convenient to everything in downtown Charleston, and the hospitality cannot be beat! Free continental breakfast, happy hour, and warm cookies
- 5/5
Great location with a cozy courtyard.
- 3.5/5
Location All-day appetizers out in Lobby Courtyard was amazing The “old “ odor in our room Noisy AC/heat unit
- 4/5
Rooms have been recently renovated, so no longer has any vintage look as on the booking page… that’s the main bummer for me. Other than that it is all to a good standard.
- 4/5
Location was great. Within walking distance to the majority of places we wanted to see and do. The room itself was very clean. The beds were comfortable, sheets soft, pillows just right. They offer a decent continental breakfast as well as warm cookies and milk around 8pm every night. There is water with cucumbers and fruit in it along with tea available throughout the Day. I didn’t like the location of our room close to the stairs/elevator. I could hear people fairly loudly as they walked by our room. The bathroom setup is not great. Plenty of room for the sink but the toilet and shower adjacent to the large sink area was in a room the size of a closet. It was difficult to maneuver around the door and toilet to actually shut the door. It would be GREAT if they kept the water/tea out until later at night so when coming in after a tour or something, you could grab a drink on the way up to your room as they don’t provide bottled water in the rooms and when traveling it’s hard to know if it’s safe to drink the tap water.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a great location
- 4/5
Property was adequate. Property was too constrained!
- 4.5/5
Location was amazing! We were able to walk everywhere. The staff was very helpful and it was wonderful having the breakfast in the morning.
- 5/5
Really nice historic place and the prices are very competitive
- 5/5
The garden area was so beautiful- simple but nice breakfast.
- 5/5
Self parking next to hotel👍
- 5/5
This is a lovely place to stay in Charleston. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, the staff were friendly and the hotel offers nice touches like a wine reception in the evening. Great location to explore downtown Charleston, highly recommend!
- 4/5
I understand limited space, but having the bags of dirty sheets, trash and at times food storage by the elevator passage in view of all that pass a true disaster.
- 4.5/5
Just noisy neighbors in the middle of the night.
- 4/5
Lovely place to stay in Charleston. Excellent location.
- 5/5
Easy check-in, great staff. The happy hour, nighttime cookies and milk and morning breakfast were all terrific. We loved enjoying happy hour and breakfast in the courtyard. Will book again!
- 4/5
Excellent location and parking for $30/day.
- 2/5
Would not stay here again.
- 5/5
Indigo Inn was a wonderful place to stay for our vacation to Charleston. The staff was so friendly. We loved that we could walk out of our room and be in the midst of the local restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
Charming hotel and great location. Great breakfast, snacks during the day, and wine, beer, and cheese in the evening. Friendly and attentive staff. Great stay overall.
- 5/5
Great breakfast and snacks
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Nice rooms, convenient, nice wine, and cheese offerings in the season, continental breakfast good, great location
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable for an old hotel that has been renovated. Location was perfect and staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Centrally located and very clean environment all around!
- 5/5
The heating and air were good, it is in a great part of town to walk where we wanted to go. The milk and cookies, as well the afternoon reception were a nice surprise. The beds were comfy. Everyone was so helpful. The breakfast choices were plentiful.
- 5/5
Great location. Easy parking. Nice courtyard and complimentary breakfast and happy hour. Easy walk to the market, restaraunts, and attractions. Excellent stay!
- 5/5
It was all great
- 5/5
I loved this hotel. The location was amazing. The staff was friendly, but my favorite part besides the clean room was the excellent breakfast and afternoon and evening snacks. That was such a bonus and it wasn’t the standard dry bagels with processed eggs. The food was really good and I really appreciated it.
- 3/5
Staff was great, good location, hotel itself was decent, older so needed some updating and needed some tuning up on ac unit, constantly turned on and off four to five times every 15 mins before it would run constantly. Thin walls so you hear every sound and it is a very noisy area.
- 3/5
It was so noisy. Its advertised breakfast buffet but it is a very small continental breakfast
- 5/5
The location of the Indigo Inn is fantastic - so close to so many things to do. The staff is friendly, the hotel is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is nice, the evening wine and cheese and the cookies and milk at night are both very nice touches. I would stay here again!
- 5/5
Great location and staff and parking!
- 2/5
We booked a one night stay. There was no hot water in our shower. We let the front desk know 3 times. No other rooms were available which is understandable. We were told that since we booked through a third party they would not adjust our charges.
- 5/5
Cool place and great location!
- 1/5
My online reservation requested a quiet location. When we checked in, I reminded the man who checked us in that we requested a quiet room. He said, "Don't worry, you'll be fine." He put us in the room at the top of the noisy stairs, which were banging and vibrating loudly when people passed. Could not switch rooms for 2 nights. Also, the toilet is wedged in between the glass shower and side wall, so there is no room to spread legs apart to use commode without a stinking mess. I suppose building codes in historic restorations allow such tiny, narrow spaces. Reception and breakfast were ok.
- 4.5/5
Breakfast and daily wine and cheese reception was very nice. Love that beverages were always available in the lobby, with fruit. I would have preferred to have an operable window in the room.
- 5/5
All of the above…great service!
- 5/5
The staff were so friendly. The cheese and wine hour was fun and breakfast had some good options.
- 5/5
Onsite parking (fee) is a big plus Breakfast evening wine & cheese and nighttime snack were nice amenities
- 4/5
Great location. Nice hotel
- 4/5
Very friendly staff. Great location.
- 5/5
Staff was the best, so kind and attentive. The location is very central to everything. They offer umbrellas if it’s raining, they do a social hour with free wine and beer every day at 5pm.
- 5/5
Staff was lovely and helpful, the room was spacious and clean and we loved the courtyard outside our door with the water fountain.
- 5/5
Nice room, great location.
- 5/5
Everything was excellent. From the kind and friendly staff, the comfortable room to the excellent happy hour and breakfast. All far exceeded our expectations.
- 4/5
Staff was courteous. Location was great. Parking was easy. Included breakfast was somewhat limited in scope. Main dining area was outside. Seating in the lobby very limited. Room was clean with adequate storage and large sink vanity.
- 5/5
The staff werecso friendly and helpful. The room was very nice. The wine and cheese in the evening is a nice touch and the breakfast buffets were very good.
- 2/5
Dirty room, slow wifi, horrible continental breakfast.
- 5/5
Perfect. Right in the middle of downtown, so you can easily walk to the City Market, the Slave Mart Museum, King St, Rainbow Row, etc. Parking is in an attached lot, come and go as you please, and no valet, so we liked that. Room looked to be recently updated, very nice, everything we needed. Food in the lobby off and on throughout the day, and was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The room was absolutely spotless, and the staff felt like family and went out of their way to be helpful....loved them and the Inn

Room was very clean, the fountain in the courtyard was soothing, breakfast was good, beer& wine social hour was great and the location was perfect. We spent 4 nights, walked to everything we wanted to see and even walked into FIG Restaurant (next door) at opening (5 pm) and got 2 seats at the bar for one of the best meals ever.

The location was ideal for sightseeing, we will return and recommend them also. Also parking was convenient. I can think of nothing.
- 4.5/5
Very quaint, historic, comfortable. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Room a bit cramped.
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
The staff was very hospitable and knowledgeable. Size of bathroom was very small

Love this Inn! Location is perfect for the Charleston experience. 5 minutes walking from the market, restaurants and attractions. Staff was remarkable. Staff was great, friendly and efficient. The rooms were clean, generously sized and well decorated. Loved all the extra touches that took it to the next level; thick soft towels, beautiful courtyard, afternoon wine and cheese, evening cookies.
- 3/5
Bathrooms are too small though Barely fit inside to be able to close door properly

- 5/5
I recently stayed at the Indigo Inn with my family. We got the double queen room and it had plenty of room for 4 people. The room was clean and bathroom was a good size to move around. The staff was also great and very helpful. Location is the top reason we stayed there and everyrhing we did was walking distance. Higly recommemd.
- 5/5

Perfect location. Great food. It was undergoing renovation, which did not negatively impact us.
- 5/5
Staff spectacular. Enjoyed the cookies and tea.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, and the staff exceeded my expectations. The location of this hotel is in the heart of the historic district, and the parking lot is excellent with ample parking spaces, especially notable for the historic district of Charleston.
- 5/5

Parking extremely convenient
- 4/5
The staff and a captivating courtyard were the pluses for the Indigo Inn. It is quaint and our room was clean. The location was very good. Close to restaurants and sightseeing tour centers. Breakfast, variety was very limited and seating was quite limited.
- 4/5
Staff and amenities were great! Bed was very comfortable. The room had a particular smell to it and could be deodorized. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
All staff members were congenial and helpful

- 4/5
We had a wonderful stay. Good amenities, great continental breakfast. Bathroom is super small and hard to navigate if you are big. Something to consider.
- 5/5
Nice quiet room with wine & cheese each evening. Only downside was having to pay $25 per day for parking.
- 3/5
Staff was good. Room was ok. Our door lock malfunctioned and our door had to be manually opened. Once this was done the door would no longer lock. T
- 4/5
Room was nice and clean. enjoyed the wine and cheese in the afternoon before we went to dinner.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing.
- 5/5
Great all around!
- 5/5
Nice room but no view other than car park. Open air seating in Centre of hotel but too cold: rainy to sit there. Nice to have complimentary drinks in evening and basic breakfast too. Enjoyed.
- 5/5
Hotel desk clerk/host (Ethan) was lovely and extremely warm, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The room is nice and right on the main drag of old town/downtown Charleston. Parking is easy…a wee bit expensive ($25 a night) but to be expected. We will definitely come back.
- 5/5
Room was nice and clean, location was great, evening snacks were a good addition.
- 5/5

Staff were great, room was clean, breakfast was definitely continental but adequate. Happy hours were great and nice to get to chat with some other guests. Location can’t be beat. Very good restaurants next door and across the street. A great place to stay.
- 5/5
Small breakfast good coffee
- 5/5
Clean and spacious room. Nice amenities. Lovely continental breakfast. Charming courtyard. Close to everything but quiet.
- 5/5
This is a cute, clean, reasonably priced hotel. They are clearly renovating it bit by bit, and the rooms are typically smaller, old East Coast style. Loved the happy hour and late night cookies!
- 5/5
Nice place and good location
- 5/5
It was great! Comfy bed, clean
- 5/5
Wonderful stay! The room was beautiful, the

- 5/5
Clean room. Location is good
- 4/5
Great staff but this is not what I was expecting for a Charleston property! Definitely run down in all the common areas and I don't mean historic ! Room size was nice but bathroom with shower tiny tiny !
- 5/5
Clean room, very nice amenities with the wine hour(s). The late night cookies were especially appreciated!
- 4/5
Staff was great. Rooms clean. Nice lite breakfast.
- 4/5
Loved the location. Staff was very courteous and accommodating. The hotel had lots of get touches (including tasty snacks and beverages throughout the day for the guests). My room was adjacent to the entry so it was a little loud at times. Perhaps ear plugs offered for that room would do the
- 5/5
I loved this place! Adorable hotel, excellent location. Special touches- games and umbrellas available in the lobby, taffy and drinks (Arnold Palmer and cucumber water), breakfast, reception hour (charcuterie and drinks), and milk and cookies at night! We loved how all rooms opened up to a courtyard.
- 5/5
Great location, updated clean room and parking on site.
- 4/5
All was great except for no hot water one day and no compensation . But understand out of their control . Usually given they still try to compensate in some way .
- 5/5
shower/toilet area was too small
- 5/5
Older hotel but well maintained. Excellent staff. Nice evening wine & cheese hour. Limited space for breakfast but they managed to utilize every inch & provide fresh, healthy variety of options. Perfect location to walk everywhere.

This was our second stay at the Indigo. This was even better than our first visit. The staff were highly professional and friendly. Our room was very comfortable. The location is within walking distance to the popular market and restaurants.
- 5/5
Great location, clean, nice hotel, courteous staff.
- 5/5
We absolutely LOVE the Indigo. It is a lovely quaint property. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is pleasant and accommodating. The wine and cheese time is AMAZING and we looked forward to it every evening. The hotel is in close proximity to all historic attractions. You won't be disappointed!
- 5/5
Parking was great. Loved the evening wine and cheese!
- 5/5
Charming helpful staff. Lovely ambiance. Close to restaurants and shopping.
- 4.5/5
Staff was excellent. Loved to hear Kim sing in the halls. Everyone very accommodating.
- 5/5
The room was a bit small but decorated beautifully and ver clean. The staff was helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend the Indigo Inn to anyone.
- 4/5
We loved the Indigo Inn and would definitely stay again! We’d definitely ask for a room next time that’s not near the service elevator - very noisy, especially early in the morning if you’re wanting to sleep in. The room itself was very comfortable. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was what you’d expect from continental choices although I’d love to have seen a toast option of just sliced bread. Unfortunately there was not coffee in the room. It was nice to have a parking lot right at the Inn, but a couple of spaces backed up to each other a little too close, making it difficult to get out. The proximity to everything was outstanding!! And the quaint courtyard was an extra special area to enjoy our happy hour (weather permitting).
- 5/5
Very convenient location, easy parking and great staff.
- 4/5
The Indigo Inn is central to the historic district of Charleston which makes it very walkable, and convenient to restaurants and activities. Lovely atrium, very quiet, and extremely comfortable beds!
- 5/5
Friendly staff and helpful, easy check in and out process!
- 4/5
Loved all the snacks throughout the day & the nightly cookies!
- 4/5
Location of the room. Confusing ceiling fan controls. Loud AC
- 5/5
Fantastic staff, very clean facility, good food!!!
- 2/5
Rooms were very small. Room had a terrible smell. Smelled like a rat had died in the walls. Staff said it was the new paint and furniture in the room. It made everything we had smell terrible. Location was perfect.
- 5/5
Easy walk to surrounding sites, shopping and restaurants
- 5/5
The breakfast items were fresh and everything we wanted. It is in a great location close to many services, restaurants, shopping etc.
- 3/5
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Small room, but ok. Cute Courtyard to enjoy breakfast and happy hour. The negatives are biggies…the smell in the room was hard to overcome. The a/c unit was REALLY loud. Second night just turned it off so we could sleep.
- 4.5/5
Very pretty property & room. Nice staff. Great location Seemed expensive and then parking was on top of that.
- 5/5
Loved the unexpected cheese, dried fruit and wine appetizers on Sunday. Loved the Monday morning breakfast, too. Perfect location to walk to the blocks-long market and so many great restaurants.
- 4/5
Liked the complimentary continental breakfast/cheese, wine & nibbles/milk & cookies. A few niggles with the wifi and tv which the staff tried hard to fix. Well situated for the Historic District - we walked everywhere we wanted.
- 5/5
Nice area.
- 5/5
Great location! Our room was spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed the evening free beer and nibbles!
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff!
- 5/5
Great location; great room; nice amenities w/ coffee & cookies. There was a little bit of a funky smell from the A/C, but overall excellent.
- 5/5
Staff, convenient to everything.
- 5/5
This was a beautiful older hotel. Location was premier and rooms were lively. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
- 4/5
Great location for what we were doing Breakfast and happy hour are very good with longer hours than usual Renovations are beautiful Parking is super convenient and not expensive Staff are very helpful and friendly The A/C in our room was unbearably noisy and we turned it off on a hot and humid night Thankfully the ceiling fan was terrific!
- 5/5
Beautiful place, excellent location, easy parking, great customer service and very clean hotel, we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you
- 5/5
loved the breakfast, happy hour and cookie waiting for us. Within walking to all the restaurants. Appreciated having on site parking. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay here again. Thank you
- 5/5
Small but clean and comfortable room. Great location. Easy walk to most locations.
- 5/5
We will always stay there when visiting!!
- 5/5
Fantastic pl
- 5/5
Great place and location for Historic Downtown Charleston. The rooms are completely remodeled and super clean, quiet and walkable to many restaurants and shopping locations. The parking lot is on hotel grounds (parking is hard to find in downtown) and absolutely loved breakfast options in the morning, coffee Arnold Palmers, Cucumber water ready when you come back from shopping, wine and cheese late afternoon and cookies at night. The staff makes you feel like you are home and almost more bed and breakfast than hotel.
- 5/5
Great stay-hotel is quaint, clean, safe, great staff. Good location central to everything!
- 5/5
We liked everything about the Indigo Inn.
- 4/5
Charming courtyard and good breakfast and happy hour. Very friendly staff. Exterior however is run down and my room did not have a desk.
- 5/5
Beds not very comfortable, but great stay and location
- 5/5
Staff was great and location was terrific.
- 5/5
The only negative were the little ants that were around the sink. Otherwise, it is a great place to stay.
- 4/5
The staff were amazing - helpful, friendly, responsive. The breakfast, afternoon charcuterie & evening cookies were unexpected & appreciated treats. The room was small & dated, but the linens were clean. It appeared some rooms were being renovated while we were there, so it might be worth asking for an updated room. The location is perfectly situated for walking to the market & most of the best eating & shopping in town.
- 5/5
Very nice staff, pretty good breakfast
- 5/5

- 5/5
The staff was lovely from the moment we checked in. Great location, central to so many things. Rooms were a good size and beds and pillows were comfortable.
- 5/5
Great location, very walkable. Very kind and helpful staff. Clean room, good breakfast and evening snack & wine hour. Felt very safe here. 10/10!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Our state was great. Everything went well, and they even had a wine and cheese cocktail hour.
- 4/5
Hotel is very charming. Felt safe, perfect walking location to area attractions. The cookies and milk were a nice addition. Breakfast was simple continental breakfast. Staff let us stay an extra hour for check out due to pouring rain. Only complaint the bathroom door swings inward so if you use that door its a little tight but there are other doors that can be used instead. The atrium lights shine in the room a bit at night. If you need a dark room to sleep i would suggest a eye mask. Would stay again and recommend
- 5/5
Great location!! Close to the market and lots of other shops and restaurants. Make sure not to go if heavy rains. The actual location of hotel is safe from flooding but, the areas around are not. I was disappointed because we had to cut our trip short due to flooding. I would go back and stay there again if I had a chance.
- 5/5
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was extremely clean.
- 5/5
Perfect location if you’re looking to be near all the great stuff in Charleston. We loved the breakfast happy hour and cookies.
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 5/5
What an incredible stay! Every opportunity to make us feel special and well cared for they made happen. They don’t just include breakfast, but also wine and cheese in the evening, and milk and cookies before bed! They have fresh cucumber and fruit infused water and sweet Tea during the day. They also have umbrellas ready. The cleaning service was excellent, room so well cared for! Parking is easy and you can come and go as you please, it’s also half the cost of everywhere else. Every person is friendly and kind. I can’t remember such a delightful experience in the center of a city, outstanding!
- 5/5
Charming inn. Rooms were good and well serviced. The courtyard is a nice place to unwind.

From the moment we arrived (and given early check in) we were made to feel very welcome. Nice older style hotel and room, with outdoor seating for breakfast and night time treats from hotel lobby. Plenty of parking available, although we only moved the car once, as the hotel location is perfect for walking to everywhere in the area. Free wine and cheese and cookies and milk at 2 different times every evening, is something other hotels could copy. Plenty of food choices round the corner from hotel too. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Charleston is a very nice place to visit, lots of history to explore.
- 4/5
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Robert at the registration desk was very helpful and ready to offer any suggestions to make our visit to the area a pleasant one. The location was perfect! We walked everywhere. It was also very nice to have breakfast included and surprisingly wine & cheese in the evening at their lovely courtyard, the fresh baked cookies and milk before bed time was a ni e treat at the end of the day. We felt pampered.
- 4/5
Upon check in we were told cookies and milk from 8-10, got back from dinner at 9 and they were all gone. So, that was a little disappointing. Hotel had a very European feel, would’ve liked a European continental breakfast, but it was OK. Guests were just very rude.
- 5/5
Bed comfortable. Clean rooms. Great staff. Beautiful courtyard.
- 5/5
I booked this hotel my daughter and I while touring the College of Charleston. Such a loved little gem. Loved this hotel for its easy southern charm with a relaxed atmosphere. From the time I walked in to the lobby I didn’t not want to return home. It was just as pictured, in fact our room is the one pictured for the atrium two beds. If this is the college she picks, I will certainly stay here again. Great location to restaurants, shopping and tours.
- 5/5
I mainly loved the hospitality and management of the hotel in addition to the location being close to the market, shopping ave and ocean front park. The rooms were also well kept and amenated along with a nice view of the geenery in the courtyard. They have nice lobby which hosts various earing and drinking sessions throughout the day including breakfast and everything is very orderly. Overall, It was a surprisingly refreshing and hassle free getaway place to immerse in the charleston vibes.
- 5/5
Great location, amenities and very attentive staff. We enjoyed the breakfast, wine and cheese, and cookies and milk that were offered to guests. All of the employees were very helpful and friendly!
- 5/5
It was the in the middle of the city. Great location. wonderful and informative staff.
- 4/5
Excellent location, staff top notch and eager to accomodate requests. Some of the furniture a bit worse for wear. There were no pulls to open the drawers on the bedside table. Compact room, but adequate for overnight stay. Nice amenities, i.e. happy hour, breakfast items. Parking available on site with reasonable fee.
- 5/5
This place is super convenient to everything . Place is very pretty and quiet. Staff is great.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, nice accommodations, extra little snacks, very cozy. Convenient location close to all.
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay. The staff is friendly and fabulous!!
- 5/5
The hotel was a cute hotel with the historic vibe. The room was very cute. Every night they had snacks and drinks at the lobby. At 8 they had a night cap with cookies and milk. They are doing some renovations, but didn't take away from the stay. Walking distance to everything. They also have a parking lot so you didnt have to find a spot on the street. We would definitely stay again!
- 4/5
Very nice staff and amenities like wine and cheese and cookies and milk. Beds were ok. Room and Bathroom were rather cramped and could use remodel. Air conditioning was very loud.
- 5/5
Well worth the money, the hotel has a lot of extras for a southern hospitality such as local wines and beers available daily at 5, cookies at night and a great breakfast. Highly recommend and will definitely be saying here again!
- 5/5
Very safe & enjoyable stay
- 5/5
Sleep very well
- 5/5
Easiest parking I’ve ever found in Charleston. Our first room wouldn’t cool down, so they moved us to a new room without a problem. Great complimentary snacks, drinks, and breakfast. Excellent value for downtown Charleston!
- 5/5
Great hotel close to everything in Charleston
- 4/5
Location was great. Room was nice. AC didn’t work and there was zero cold water.
- 5/5
Amazing place!
- 5/5
This place was a surprise for my boyfriend while he was in town for training. We had a perfect weekend with the local restaurants, evening reception and terrific breakfast! Absolutely recommend!!!!
- 5/5
Guests of the hotel should not have to pay for parking. Breakfast was somewhat lacking and crowded. Other than that loved the room and the location
- 4/5
The room was small and it was tight accommodations with the three of us, but we made it work. We came during a very hot time so the a/c units in the windows were cranked up which pushed out extra hot air to an already extra hot day and night so getting off the elevator to the third floor was like walking into an oven. The elevator did not seem to have any kind of air flow either so it held onto that hot air. The room never got very cold, unfortunately. Phew! We still enjoyed ourselves very much. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot with decent water pressure. There is no escaping the heat and humidity during the summer in Charleston and being from NC I am accustomed to it. Despite the sweaty conditions we would still stay here. It's in the perfect spot and the people are so nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
This hotel has a great location in Charleston. The parking lot is directly behind the hotel which is nice, you don't have to park in a parking garage. The rooms are homey; it is like stay at someone's home. There is no carpet in the rooms which to me is a plus, because nothing dates a room quicker than dirty carpet. The courtyard is very nice; we would have loved to enjoy it, but we were there on a record hot day for Charleston in the last 5 years. Beds were very comfy; we would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Room great except AC unit did not cool efficiently. Told staff and they will replace unit. The inn was in walking distance of all we wanted to experience, parking was free, snacks, drinks, breakfast included!
- 5/5
Great location for all food, sites, and bars. Was so nice to get up and walk pretty much anywhere. The little amenities that they offer were so nice and a sweet little treat to come back to. The staff were always super helpful and nice! The room was clean and had the Charleston style to it.
- 5/5
friendly employees, beautiful property, clean rooms, excellent location, easy parking. nothing bad to say, we loved it here.
- 5/5
Good times
- 5/5
Indigo Inn was wonderful! Super kind staff too.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 4/5
Nice hotel in a great area, walkable to many restaurants, and shopping. Nice cold continental breakfast and managers reception at night. Rooms were set up nicely but are not insulated well so rooms were hot and air conditioning units couldn't keep room cool. They were also doing room renovations so there were items in the way in the hallways and noise at times.
- 2/5
Nice guest food and drink options in the lobby through the day.
- 5/5
Great weekend in Charleston.
- 5/5
Staff is excellent. Great location downtown. It's a little dated but overall a great value. We enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
The Indigo Inn is in an amazing location with plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars nearby. It has apparently been renovated or updated. But what stood out the most was the service and amenities at the price point. Really nice front desk staff. Great housekeeping. Nice courtyard. In the afternoon they put out drinks and at 5 pm there is a wine and cheese reception. At 8 pm they \put out fresh cookies. I really appreciate the service because you don't get that anymore in most places. I will definitely be back.
- 2/5
Indigo in was rated 9.2 on your site it is more like a 7.2. Construction was going on the whole time in the rooms next door we had to walk through the construction mess everyday. Beds were the most uncomfortable I have slept in in the USA! We travel a lot and this was clearly a false rating!
- 5/5
Loved the location of the property and the history of it. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Great wine & cheese hour! Loved the nightcap service.
- 3/5
The location is very convenient, and they provide breakfast and snacks/wine throughout the day, which is very nice, despite breakfast being minimal. The room was not clean and the AC struggled to keep the room temp comfortable. Mattress was cheap and uncomfortable. When we came back to hotel after a hot and sweaty day, we found no toiletries in the shower, and when we asked for them we were told they ran out of shampoo and shower gel! I couldn’t believe it!!!
- 5/5
I love that the property was convenient to restaurants, shopping, tours, etc. Parking was convenient and cheaper than anywhere else I've stayed in downtown Charleston before. Staff were extremely nice and always asked us how we were and if we needed anything. I'd definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Overall, we had a nice stay at the Indigo Inn minus someone talking loudly outside our door at 1 am waking us up the first night. Unfortunately our room was located below a staircase, right next to the check in area and a service area. The staff was friendly and the hotel was mostly very clean, although the back of the headboards between mattress and wall are in need of a dusting. While the hotel rooms are a little dated, the beds were comfortable, bedding was clean and there were some recent upgrades like the flooring and the shower in the bathroom. Check in and check out were a breeze, we enjoyed the evening charcuterie boards and cookies. Breakfast has items like Quaker oatmeal cups, cereals, muffins, Danish, bagels, yogurt, premade Belgian waffles in a bag (toaster ready) and hard boiled eggs which was ok for us. Heads up, be prepared to pay $25 a day to park in their parking lot. I was not aware of the fee prior to arriving and had not read it in any prior reviews, but was somewhat expecting it since it’s pretty normal for downtown Charleston. Parking lot is a little tight if in a larger vehicle like a Suburban but manageable for us in a Camry. Hotel is in a very good location with a lot of great restaurants and shopping within a short walk. It also had a very nice courtyard. We would definitely stay again, but will make sure we are not put in a room near the stairs or front office again.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. They have a nice little happy hour plus snacks in the evening.
- 5/5
Loved the location.
- 5/5
10/10 I will stay here every time I come to Charleston. Great price, service, rooms, location and parking. Couldn’t ask for more.
- 5/5
Absolutely lovely
- 5/5
The hotel staff were very welcoming and the property is quaint with a feel of being at home. Our kids, 4 and 1, had enough room to run around and play. We will definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
All the little added amenities they offer in the lobby, were truly that extra something special that makes one place better than the next! From breakfast, ice-cold flavored waters (nice to fill up your canteens, before you go out walk), to “happy hour” and even a cookies & milk night cap; Indigo provides, that’s for sure. Nothing like coming back to a cold room after walking around a hot & humid city and resting your bones on a heavenly comfortable bed (I want those pillows). Would definitely recommend to anyone in search & friends. (Only thing that took away from it was when I was struggling with getting the bell chart into the main lobby, for the elevator, and the Front Desk Agent did not even try to come over to help with the door. Was sitting 25ft away and just watched us struggle. Bathrooms were ummm an interesting layout, not sure why they sectioned the shower/toilet into such a small space! Like I’m 5’3” and I was having a wonky time opening the door after closing it to shower; those I was with were using the vanity area to get ready. NGL bigger/claustrophobic people are gonna struggle with that space big time! But we didn’t go to Charleston to hang out in the rooms).
- 5/5
Such a cute please. Great happy hour with a nice spread of fruit, cheese, and wine.
- 5/5
Service was great, location is perfect and plenty of parking. Robert at front desk was super helpful. Love the cheese and wines evening!
- 4/5
Room old furniture, bed hard, room needed spraying for bugs
- 5/5
Happy- happy hour is great and breakfast simply but great- food Service ‼️
- 4/5
We love Charleston and booked our stay here based on location and price. They had a lovely cheese and wine event in the evening. Indigo Inn is in a great location. I have no complaints.
- 5/5
If you are looking for a place to stay that is within walking distance to the best parts of downtown Charleston, Indigo Inn is a great option. Charming courtyard, nice extras, and within two blocks of several city tour locations. Rooms were comfortable, temperature controlled, and well turned out. We will be going back.
- 3/5
Under construction and truly close to uninhabitable. Great location just not sure why they’re accepting reservations during renovations. Pretty terrible if I’m honest
- 4/5
Had the air air conditioning works better I would have given this place a five star. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Indigo Inn. The people were friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Pleasant but could be updated a bit.
- 5/5
Perfect spot! Great rooms, service, and people. It’s also walking distance to Meeting Street, King Street, and the city market. Definitely making this my spot moving forward. 10/10 recommend.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, clean cute rooms. Very central location and the wine and cheese and evening snack was delicious and included. Cute courtyard to sit in. Will definitely recommend to all and come back!
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 4/5
Great location. Parking at the hotel is not so great though. You can easily back your car into another vehicle behind you. It’s best to have someone stand behind your car and give you distance even if you have a backup camera. Staff was great and the room I was in was spacious and clean.
- 5/5
My husband and I loved Indigo Inn in Charleston. I was surprised at how quiet it was considering it was in the middle of the town and so close to dining, shopping, and area attractions. Everything was so clean and convenient! We will stay there again!

This is a delightful property. We greeted by a friendly and informative staff person. The inn offers wine, cheese and charcuterie in the early evening, cookies and coffee in the late evening and a continental breakfast in the morning. The rooms and property were immaculate and within blocks of the city market and restaurants. You have to pay to park on the property but it's worth it. We will come again.
- 4/5
The terrace was beautiful! Comfy beds.
- 5/5
It was amazing, I saw reviews about the rooms being small but I did not think so at all. The wine and cheese happy hour and then breakfast in the atrium were the highlights for me. This place has my business for any future trips to Charleston.
- 5/5
Stopped for one night. Located perfect for dining and shopping.

We did not enjoy not being told Mastercard cards will be denied.
