Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating its prime location and friendly staff, but expressing dissatisfaction with certain amenities and services. While many guests enjoyed their stay and found the hotel convenient for events and dining, several guests had issues with the valet parking, slow elevators, and lack of privacy with the bathroom doors.
- Prime location for events and downtown dining
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Valet parking issues and fees
- Slow elevators and long wait times
- 3/5
Hidden fees and depending on which staff member you got you received different information! Parking, internet, food and “destination fee” were not relayed properly and felt deceptive. Room was nice however the ceiling looked as if recent water damage. The location is in heart of everything and I felt safe.

Everything at this property was great. The only thing I didn't like was how much it cost to park even as a hotel guest. The staff was very helpful and nice and they always were willing to help. The hotel was close to the venue which made for easy access ro and from our event. I would definitely stay again

Walking distance to our event For $700 I’m not impressed, maybe if it was $100. The room we stayed in was small and cramped. The bathroom had no fan so anytime someone showered the whole entire room got extremely hot and muggy. The mini fridge didn’t get anything cold so my breast milk spoiled.

nice and clean hotel, each staff member i talked to was helpful and nice. having to pay for parking is dumb and should be somehow discounted within the stay of the hotel
- 5/5
Great location in walking distance to Bank of America stadium. The gym was extensive, restaurant food was good; coffee shop open early. Would stay there again for another trip to the area.
- 4/5
Overall it was a great stay and the service was excellent. One of the pillows was stained which was disappointing. The location is very convenient but the hotel is located across a club that is open until 2am and the music and noise from the street is very loud. Even though we were on the 11th floor, it was nearly impossible to fall asleep from all the noise on the street, including loud motorcycles and loud vehicles.
- 5/5
Great Place
- 4/5
Expectations were high and I slept great but the bathroom needs work. Very low shower pressure with slow drainage and no bathroom privacy because they use a sliding frosted glass sliding door.
- 4/5
The room temp was perfect which is unusual in a hotel. I never touched the thermostat.
- 2/5
The hotel itself is clean and well located, but the staff is poorly trained and inattentive. Had to call twice for housekeeping during our three night stay. Needed assistance with luggage when leaving. The attendant took forever to arrive and then showed up without a luggage cart. Supplies in the M club, such a cups and plates, often ran out with no one paying attention to the need to re-supply.

We were very disappointed in our stay this past weekend. Our room was terrible, the chair was stained, the lampshade was stained, the table was beat up, and the room had an awful smell to it. We were in and out of Charlotte for the weekend, and had a very busy itinerary, otherwise I would’ve tried to raise the concern and tried to get another room. I have heard that as an Expedia customer there are sometimes a few options in this area. But, I cannot recommend. The ceiling was peeling, the wallpaper was peeling. I took plenty of pictures, but in the end we just had to meet our obligations in the city for the weekend
- 5/5
Close to everything
- 4/5
Very small (but beautiful) rooms. Not much storage in ours. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and the staff was very friendly. Easy access to transportation. Great location for food, the park, the river, and the art museum.

Clean room | Staff amazing | Air conditioning | coffee shop bar and restaurant attached and walking distance from everything

The staff was very accommodating. The hotel was clean and the rooms were comfy! Dorian was just such a pleasure.

Everything thing was clean and as it should be. Convenient Location.
- 5/5

- 1/5
They didn't honor the paid reservation that i made on expedia. Saying they were over booked.
- 1/5
Carpets smelled The parking garage was a dungeon, and also operated by a 3rd party, we were charged to pro there (utterly aggravating!) Breakfast not included Staff not so friendly Overall terrible, cannot compare to a Hilton (which has comfy beds/ pillows, free parking and free breakfast with friendly staff), plus we get points. I am available to be contacted - and can give more details. Thx
- 5/5
The staff and stay was amazing! Never disappointed with the Marriott Brand ☺️
- 3/5
Room was too cold, couldn’t warm it up even tried to change the temperature on the thermostat. It was loud. Elevator was slow and overcrowded. We walked the staircase from Friday until Sunday and it was filthy the whole time, it was never cleaned. The exact chip bag was there the whole weekend. There were cigarette butts on the staircase as well. There was no microwave in room for warming up leftover food. Wanted to eat breakfast at Stokes and was told that it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait when there were several seats available. My husband and I were told they weren’t seating anyone unfortunately, but there was plenty of seating. No real explanation on why, so We decided to eat at Starbucks instead.
- 5/5
Awesome staff, very very clean rooms and close to restaurants and we wwlked to the venue 10 minutes away for the concert. I will definitely stay there next time I am in Charlotte

Overall a good stay. The bed was my favorite part, very comfortable, slept wonderfully. There was a lot of noise coming from the street and I was on the 16th floor, obviously they can’t control that, but heads up. I didn’t enjoy the bathroom, it was small and had mold in the shower, also I found hair in the shower from a previous guest. Also there were two small mirrors oddly placed in the bathroom which made it very hard to see outfits if that’s important to you. The lounge was nice. Valet could use some work, they didn't check out car in on multiple occasions which made it so that we couldn’t request our car in advance and had to wait a substantial amount of time for it.

The Marriott City Center offers a helpful, caring staff. It is across the street from the Belk Theater making it a perfect spot when seeing an opera or musical. It is in walking distance to great restaurants.

They oversold their hotel (I was told by another hotel they do this all the time and always way more rooms then they should). Manager told me they were trying to get me another hotel and were going to send me to a lower quality. Luckily were able to book at nicer hotel, so thats why gets 1 star instead of 0. No phone call text or email. Thats shady practices.

- 5/5
The overall experience was great. Location, location, location. The staff was also great.
- 4/5
The bed was comfortable. The wallpaper and paint in the room was peeling and the walls must have been paper thin as we could hear our neighbors word for word and doors slamming all night. Other than that, it was a nice hotel in a good location.
- 5/5
The hotel was truly amazing. Having originally booked a different hotel which had overbooked rooms and thus had no room for us, Expedia were truly fantastic in finding us an alternative, being the Marriott City Centre in Charlotte. An incredible hotel with lovely spacious, clean rooms.
- 5/5
Didn’t use their restaurants, but many available within a short walk. Staff very helpful. Rooms were nice-very clean. Great location for exploring Uptown Charlotte. Would stay there again.

we arrived around 12, & assumed it would be unlikely that our room would be available for check-in. the associate that helped was efficient & responsive, & informed me we could get into a corner king but when I asked if that included a sofabed, she said no, so I opted to wait for the room booked which (according to the information I reviewed) had a king bed & a sofabed. when we arrived back at the hotel after 5pm, we were given a room, & once opening the door I called down as there was not a sofabed. I was told that room didn't have one, wasn't offered a solution, but when I asked about a rollaway bed, she confirmed that would be sent up. I asked then if we needed to be present to receive it & was told no. At 8pm when we came back after dinner, there was still no bed. I tried to call & just got a busy signal, so went back downstairs to ask about the bed. I was told it was on it's way. After another 25 minutes, phone still was a busy signal, went back downstairs, and told the same. I begged if there was anywhere I could go to get it as I had a 4 y.o. that was very tired & really needed to get to bed. another 15-20 min before the bed arrived. a technician was sent up to look at our phone after I shared in my last visit that was why I kept coming in person. tech arrived right after the bed came & at that point just needed to get him to bed (at least THAT was timely!). NINE hours to get a bed in a room is UNACCEPTIBLE & not what I expect of Marriott (esp with bonvoy status!)

Marriott City Center is an older property but the rooms are very clean and the staff provide super service. Hotel is convenient for Panthers and Hornets games. Tons of great restaurants in the area and the light rail is nearby.

- 5/5
Loved it!!!
- 5/5
The room was comfortable a good size. The walk in shower was a plus. The staff was helpful and pricing was decent.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and spacious. We had a great view of the Charlotte skyline. Walking distance to the Bank of America Stadium and convenient parking. This is the only hotel where we order room service. The food is always delicious and arrives at our door quickly with everything that we need. Any time we go to a Panther's game, we also choose to stay at the Marriott. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Staff helpful and friendly. Room clean and well-appointed. Parking price was outrageous for overnight guest $60. Would think discount for guest would be offerred.

The hotel is in a great location. The staff was super friendly. We were greeted coming and going. The guy who checked us in was SUPER! The room does need some maintenance, but most of the time, we were in and out. We will definitely stay again.
- 4/5
In my room near the bathroom, I noticed peeling paint on the ceiling. It appeared to be from water damage from a leak.
- 5/5
Very nice property. Great staff. Nice gym and bar/restaurant.

Good location Coffee
- 5/5
Nice place to stay, close to stadium
- 3/5
Conveniently located. Room could have used a really good cleaning (floors swept and mopped, features wiped down). Smelled funny no matter how much I cleaned (and I cleaned every day). Food options were adequate but not varied. Wasn’t informed what the M club was or its benefits.
- 4/5
Comfortable bed. Quiet room. Internet worked well. Very convenient position for city center. Didn’t use the restaurant but it looked fine. Used the concierge lounge. Could have been better. The cooked breakfast food was luke warm. There wasn’t any orange juice. The staff weren’t particularly welcoming there either, unlike the front desk staff who were extremely pleasant. Room service was just ok. The bed wasn’t made very well, the conditioner container in the bathroom was empty and wasn’t filled during our stay. We left a clear note asking if they would leave us tea bags as we’re tea drinkers. They didn’t leave any. We used the travel size lotion and it wasn’t replaced. The parking seemed expensive for self parking but probably compares to city parking. Overall the hotel is ok. Best feature is the location.

It was very satisfying to stay here

Great room and staff. Loved having a refrigerator in the room. Walking distance to the stadium in downtown. Terrific having a proper coffee shop in the hotel. The bed was a little stiff, but other than that everything was great.
- 5/5
Hotel was very close to everything we wanted to do. Stadium bars and restaurants
- 5/5
Wish breakfast was included at least. Everything else was very good.
- 3/5
It was decent hotel. But to pay for food package and it’s cold and barely any there. Just wasn’t happy with that at all.
- 2/5
M club lounge food quality should improve cuz it’s Marriott not Residence Inn.
- 5/5
Great clean hotel. Room was outstanding and the staff was friendly and helpful. Besy location to get anywhere in Charlotte. Lots of resteraunt and shops within walking distance.
- 0.5/5

- 5/5
Hotel was busy due to the Metallica concert but was clean and comfortable. When I went to check in the front desk person completely ignored me and tended to the person that jumped the line. When he left, she looked at me and then to the person standing behind me. I thought she was going to skip me again but fortunately she didn’t. Kind of shocked it happened at a Marriott. Usually service is better than that.
- 5/5
Easy check in & out. The only issue was the slow elevator at checkout
- 5/5
Although it was a very busy weekend at the hotel the staff was friendly, efficient and helpful Liked that the hotel is walking distant to restaurants and other attractions

Despite that, the staff was warm and friendly, especially Kiana who took the time to help me explore the various dining options avaliable to me as well as recommendations from other guests.

Property was in an okay location. Valet parking was pricey and way too slow on car retrieval for $85/night. The stay was okay. Nothing exciting, wouldn’t recommend.
- 5/5

- 5/5
It was very clean and in a convenient area.
- 5/5
Super safe and clean
- 5/5
Great location, easy walk to stadium and museums.
- 3/5
The property itself is very nice, however, upon checkin they did not have any rooms with 2 beds available even though that is what I booked. Their solution was to bring in a rollaway bed. I was told the rollaway bed a queen size, however, the bed they brought was only 3 inches wider than a twin size (yes, I measured it), clearly not large enough for 2 people to fit on. Four adults cannot be expected to sleep in a room with 1 king bed and a slightly larger than a twin roll away. The only solution available was for 1 person to sleep on the sofa.
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay at this Marriott hotel would return back
- 5/5
It was a pleasurable stay and accommodations.

- 5/5
Friendly staff. Allowed me to check in hours early. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
- 5/5
The staff were very accomodating! I was about to check in super early and check out late! The hotel was very nice, clean and
- 3/5
Expedia rated this as 4 stars but it did not feel like a 4 star experience. There was Valet parking which is nice. The room looked clean besides a stain on the desk chair. The tv only had Netflix, YouTube, and cable tv. I thought I would be able to sign into Prime Video and watch my shows but I couldn’t. The toilet made a loud noise after using it and had to call front desk service to have it fixed. We were most disappointed with the restaurants food and service. We had food delivered to the room. The food wasn’t hot and didn’t taste well. They also couldn’t even get the order right. Lastly we booked for 3 people and only had two set of towels. We did get a lot of complimentary water and a late check out. The staff was nice and friendly.
- 5/5
Walking distance to pretty much everything. Staff super nice and professional. Ease of check-in. Overall cleanliness of hotel.

- 4/5
Parking sucks and expensive, but movie location and hotel.
- 4/5

- 5/5
Great common spaces to meet up. Coco coffee shop on first floor excellent. Stoke restaurant definitely worth the stop.
- 1/5
Hotel was not clean i took lot of pictures and wall is paper thin..i would not go again
- 5/5
Nestled a few blocks from Spectrum Center makes it easy to walk for concerts/games. Valet parking is required $60 per night) because of the nature of city parking so be prepared Friday-Sunday around check-in time, cars easily back up onto the street as the valets try and accommodate all the arrivals. Check-in was easy, elevators are kind of slow and depending if there is a full house, you might wait a few rides before catching an elevator. Our room was clean and updated. AC worked great! The shower head was amazing! Full pressure from a rain shower head with hot hot water (if desired). Bathroom has a frosted barn door which does not block bathroom sounds so just keep that in mind because there is no exhaust fan to muffle sounds. Our mini fridge froze/exploded our drinks- check the temp gauge and then proceed with caution. Beds were comfortable and overall it was a very nice stay.
- 5/5
Very clean and beds were comfortable!
- 5/5
Arrived early and our room was ready! Clean quiet and very comfortable. In the heart of the city, convenient to restaurants and concert venues

I paid the same money for a better hotel, free!!, parking and free breakfast Scam !! They scam you with the valet parking for 56 + tips
- 5/5
Great !!!
- 5/5
There was a shooting in front of the hotel in the middle of the night.
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Paying nearly $300 dollars per night to not have high speed wifi included in 2025 is ridiculous and the amenities in the room were very limited. The soaps and shampoos in the bathroom were either surprisingly small or seemed low quality.

Good stay. Definitely try the halal food stand.
- 4/5

I loved the location of the property. You can literally walk just about everywhere from this central location. The places we did uber to were still close as well. The hotel was clean, I would say quiet, but you could hear just about everything in the room next door, especially from the bathroom. Otherwise, it was a great stay and no issues at all.
- 5/5
The staff is extremely helpful and welcoming, guest rooms are spacious and clean, and the hospitality suite is well stocked - though unattended. Valet parking conveniently links directly to cell phones, and parking attendants are polite and work quickly to get vehicles in and out.
- 5/5
We love the Marriott center. Close to everything. Great bar and wonderful coffee shop!!

- 5/5
The room was clean and well-kept. The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We had such a wonderful experience here.
- 4/5
Great location to everything downtown and the staff was friendly. Our room was a little on the small side. I forgot lotion and there wasn't any in the room, but that's a 1st world problem. Overall, we would stay here again!
- 4/5
I loved the restaurant/bar and cafe on the premises!!
- 5/5
Wasn’t accessible parking unless you utilized valet.
- 3/5
Valet prices are ridiculous $69 a day . The hotel stated it’s controlled by the city but the Marriott 2 hotels down was only $48 I thought about switching hotels because that’s highway robbery. They have the nerve to ask for a tip after 1 day of getting my vehicle
- 2/5
$61 for valet no selfpark option. Weird sagey smell. $9.95 a day WiFi, even though reservation stated Free. Online room service menu was nonfunctional. Unable to check out via the room TV. Agent was condescending and dismissive.
- 4/5
it was very clean and bed very comfortable. room had nice updates. the large screen TV was nice… location however didn’t care for the view. we were on the side where our view was a tan dirty building
- 4/5
Nice property not the best area
- 5/5
Staff were nice and quick to help.
- 5/5
Convenient location downtown. Lobby can be very busy and hotel takes event parking making walking out through the front a little dicey. M Club staff and housekeeping were fantastic. Elevators are slow, a few creak loudly and don’t stop level with the floor, 2 of the six are only for parking garage and at least one other was out of service- there was a line to go up in the mornings and evenings. Very comfortable lobby. Range of food choices within walking distance. Walking around at night is very different than day- often homeless people panhandling by hotel entrance and taking shelter in Lynx train stop. Room door had to be pulled hard to shut making it hard not to slam and you could hear other doors slamming at all hours. Furniture needs a refresh- scratched and faded. Beds are very comfortable. Flooring in bathroom is not caulked at walls or tub- even being careful we had water run off into gaps and our ceiling had water damage lining up with where the same problem was happening above us. Front desk people, 2 ladies running M Club, housekeeping staff, and common area cleaners were all exceptional. M Club upgrade was definitely worth it. Gym is well equipped and has a spinning room and yoga/ stretch area with on demand video classes. Would have liked a pool or ability to use pool at other Marriott hotel. Good experiences with in-house dining (Stoke) and cafe (Director and Coco).
- 4/5
Parking was very high had to use there parking service or walk a block
- 5/5
Great spot in the heart of the city.

The hotel was very nice and modern. The room was nice and clean. We booked king size single bed, but the tin wasn't ready at checkin so they provided a double bed room. Will stay here again.

Hotel and parking was overpriced. Room was equivalent to a Fairfield. Half the trip was on points. The other half on credit card. Hotel had difficulty with final invoice. To this day I have not received an invoice but my credit card was charged
