Reviews
The hotel is praised for its convenient location, friendly staff, and clean, spacious rooms with full kitchens. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the breakfast offerings, lack of room cleaning, and certain aspects of the management's handling of issues.

Excellent stay, very clean and quite new.

Spacious and clean room with comfortable bed. Easy walking distance to down town. The breakfast was welcome - limited options but what was offered was good.
- 4/5
Room was great, facility was clean. Nice parking and entrance Cost for the room was far too high to provide value. We would have stayed on anther night or two if it wasn't extortionate. The $20/d parking charge is also high considering what we paid for the room. Breakfast was poor. In room coffee was poor.

i have been a customer to this Residence for over 15 years. Breakfast used to be much better with a person in attendance to cook eggs to one's specifications. All these aminities have disappeared.

Was impressed as they used real plates, silverware and cups! The choice of food was typical. Not enough seating. Needed brown sugar for the oatmeal.

Rooms were clean, spacious. Breakfast offerings were fresh and included healthy options. Staff friendly and parking was safe/easily accessible. Location is convenient and walkable to many surrounding areas of interest/restaurants/shops
- 5/5
The suite (one bedroom with kitchen) was fantastic for a small family.
- 4/5
The location, close to the downtown mall They offer breakfast daily but it’s just eggs and more eggs. They might switch it up to a hard egg croissant sandwich. A sausage or bacon would have been great. I was there for two weeks and never saw any

Excellent location, large room, quiet, comfortable and clean. Easy walk to the downtown mall and stores. Excellent place to stay for the yearly Festival of the Book.

Other than that, the staff and facility were great.
- 5/5
Spacious room, friendly staff, hot breakfast each day.

Great location

Breakfast was fine- the coffee was quite good. Water, tea and coffee service throughout the day in the lobby would be an advantage.

Breakfast was basic but good. Staff was friendly and the room was excellent, especially in terms of kitchen amenities and enough seating. Easily a hotel where you could spend a week. We didn't use the pool or gym but it looked good from what we saw. Good location to walk to downtown or to the train station or university.

We were there for 2 nights had a 2 bedrooms suite for 5 people. the beds in the bedrooms were comfortable. nice to have the kitchen space it was clean. bathroom attached to king room nice and spacious. room was quiet. workout room and pool were nice and clean. breakfast was good! the pullout couch was very uncomfortable according to my daughter. also there were no luggage racks or dressers in either bedroom so it made it difficult to access clothes from luggage without cramming it into the nightstands or putting it in closet. coffee was too strong.

A nice continental breakfast is included, but also cooking and eating equipment are in the suite. A comfortable couch and bed, a spacious work desk, room to do yoga. A really nice open shower with all possible safety equipment. I liked it all!

Really amazing front desk staff. Very efficient, helpful, and a credit to the Marriott. Great location by the downtown mall. Rooms are always clean and spacious
- 5/5
Front desk agent was helpful and informative and had a great smile!
- 5/5
Great stay. Clean and quiet. Breakfast options could use some improvement or at least offer some flavors/seasonal creamers for the coffee.
- 5/5
The staff was super nice. The room was clean and comfy. Convenient location for downtown.

Room was amazing. Amazing location, great vibes!
- 4/5
Hotel beautiful
- 5/5
Staff was courteous and studio had everything we needed. Location was terrific. Walking distance to downtown in one direction and close proximity to the corner and UVA campus in the other direction.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
Very nice room!
- 5/5
Courtney at the front desk was most helpful. She took care of all of our requests!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Everyone was very friendly, parking wasn't a problem and they accommodated all our requests.
- 5/5
This is a great Residence Inn, a very easy walk to the place in downtown Charlottesville. The studio room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was great, the business center was easy to use, and breakfast was solid. The only issue I had is that the listing on Expedia says the room has a tub shower combo, but it was only a shower in the room I had.
- 5/5
I stay here often and have yet to be disappointed. Covered parking is a paid option, but well worth it for the convenience. A separate elevator goes right from the lobby to the garage. Just make sure you check in first and get your room key and parking pass, otherwise you won't be able to use that elevator.
- 5/5
Walkable, clean and beautiful!
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
Well equipped room with full scale kitchen except smaller appliances. Great room! We will stay at Residence Inn again.
- 3/5
The gym was very dirty and no water or towel in the gym first thing in the morning. This hotel is poorly managed
- 5/5
We love this hotel for visitng our daughter at UVA, been staying here for four years. It is clean, convenient and the breakfast is terrific. Staff is welcoming and helpful.
- 2/5
There were no disposable cups anywhere and with large glasses it was hard to fill the coffee maker (hard to see instructions on volume and easy to make a mess while doing so. Short on bedside plug ins, also something standard today in most facilities.
- 5/5
Bed was comfy
- 2/5
We like the room and how spacious it is, but at night we felt itching so bring your own bed sheets, they looked clean but not sure why
- 4/5
Nice comfortable stay
- 3/5
Sofa bed was poor quality in terms of comfort.
- 4/5
Very nice rooms in a great location.
- 5/5
Large and
- 5/5
Excellent location and ample parking.
- 5/5
Clean, superb front desk service, great underground parking (worth the price), and within walking distance of excellent dining options downtown. I stayed on business but will come back here just for fun.
- 3/5
And they don’t offer any complimentary water except in the gym . Terrible
- 5/5
Parking is a paid option, but amazingly convenient and worth every penny. I stay at a half dozen Residence Inns a year, and this location is the most walkable with the most nearby dining options of any. Views from some rooms are not great, but that's not why you chose to stay here. It's my new favorite stopover point between NC and the northeast, beating out Waynesboro, and both Richmond locations. I look forward to staying here again.
- 5/5
Breakfast was amazing!

Great location. Clean. Friendly staff
- 5/5

- 2/5
$15 a day for parking.

It was a big wedding weekend yet the front desk staff were able to help make special arrangements with ease. Kind folks!

- 5/5
The kitchen area was nicely equipped.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a fantastic location. Very accommodating for our dogs. Friendly staff too. Had a wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Beautiful well kept and the staff was kind . I will stay there again.
- 5/5
The hotel was lovely, and the room was one of the nicest that we have had anywhere. The only complaints are not with respect to the hotel but rather with the independent service , Expedia, that arranges for the hotels. The administration at Expedia misleads customers into believing that one is arranging for rooms with the hotel directly. If there needs to be a change, then it is not possible, because the arrangements were made actually with Expedia; the payment arrangements go to Expedia and only to the hotel if one goes to the hotel after which Expedia must now pay the hotel. The restrictions on modifications through Expedia are significant and far greater than for the hotel itself. My family knows now to avoid Expedia (whether for hotels or cruises or airlines) and to go directly to the administrations for those services.
- 4/5
Tricky area to walk the dog…not a lot of grassy areas 😀
- 5/5
Great property, awesome location, friendly staff!
- 5/5
I frequently stay here, it’s fairly new and a great location
- 3/5
Shower diverter did not work. I made do by taking a bath. Only stayed one night. I told The front desk guy when I checked out and he was very nice

Really convenient to walk to downtown Charlottesville
- 5/5
Great location close to the pedestrian mall.
- 5/5
Loved how close to the downtown mall this hotel was! Everything we needed in walking distance!
- 5/5
Clean, convenient and safe
- 5/5
Great staff, complimentary breakfast, close to everything, underground parking. Great
- 4/5
Nice Property, but if you get a low floor near traffic lanes, it is quite noisy.
- 5/5
Loved it!! Everything was clean, check in was easy. I would stay here on my next trip to Cville!
- 5/5
We liked the location. Perfect walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
In town for uva orientation, nice staff, accessible , nice room with everything needed
- 5/5
Perfect location, very clean and comfortable, straight and useful service, the terrible heat outside wasn’t their fault
- 4/5
Always reliable and convenient.
- 3/5
property was fine. got email in advance asking if i wanted to do advance checkin to save time. i did. when i got to the hotel, while clerk acknowledged that i had done advance checkin, there was no indicatin that any of the information i had provided had transferred, and i stood at desk and had to provide email, phone, etc. this is making me check in twice rather than saving me time.
- 5/5
The accommodations were wonderful, including the very nice breakfast. The rooms were clean and neat, and the staff was very helpful. I appreciated the below-ground parking, too. Thanks.
- 3/5
Needs improvement
- 5/5
Staff are very friendly and responsive. The location is convenient where you can walk to many restaurants.
- 5/5
Great Room - loved that it had a FULL kitchen- would definitely definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Very nice, relatively new facility. Excellent location
- 5/5
Best location in city center. Clean, great room, and great price.
- 5/5
Great upper scale hotel, great location.
- 5/5
At close to $600 per night, I would think they could clean toe rooms every day rather that every other. We checked in to a clean room on Friday and checked out Sundasy-no cleaning
- 5/5
Nice breakfast included
- 5/5
Great visit, attentive and helpful staff.
- 5/5
It was also right next to a staples and I needed something for my presentation, so that was great!
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
We had an amazing 2 days stay with our daughters visiting Charlottesville. Convenient location, walking distance from town and restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel!
- 5/5
stay couldn't have been more perfect for a weekend getaway with friends. breakfast buffet was fantastic!
- 5/5
Great location to restaurants, shops and sights. Spacious room with a full fridge in the kitchen part. Also dish washing supplies if needed. Breakfast was included which you don’t often get in hotels these days. Friendly staff. Very clean.
- 3/5
Lamp shade was torn, not replaced while we were there, sheet was soiled and very thin, staff was OK
- 2/5
Manager getting upset when pointing out flaws in the rooms in spite of communicating it in the most polite way possible. They offered a room in which the smell of food was quite unpleasant to say the least and where fresh stains were all over the couch in particular. Instead of getting apologies by pointing it out, she was clearly annoyed which frankly made me uneasy. We ended up in a normal 1 bed room with my family of 4 and no reimbursement for the price difference was offered. We still enjoyed our time since Charlottesville and its surroundings is very pleasant. We were a bit squeezed in the room but at least it was clean.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel, spacious rooms, friendly staff, great location, I will stay here again and again.
- 5/5
Stay was wonderful. Hotel is very nice, clean & comfortable & in a great location. The only disappointment was the items requested upon booking (& noted on my reservation upon check in) were not taken care of & a call to housekeeping was still necessary.
- 5/5
Our front desk check-in assistant was exceptional. She was courteous, polite, and genuinely friendly. Answering our questions after what I'm sure was a long and difficult day. Much appreciated.
- 5/5
The gentlemen at the desk Saturday early morning saw that I was stressed that the coffee pot was empty in the lobby. By the time I pulled my car around (5 minutes...) to pick up my family, he had it refilled. Appreciate the little things and the attentiveness of this front desk staff!
- 5/5
clean, big room and great location
- 5/5
The room was perfect and the property was in the perfect spot for the activities we were doing
- 4/5
Good value for money. Clean, big rooms. Friendly staff. Newly updated bathroom. Only negative: Sofabed a bit worn down and not comfortable. All in all, a good choice in Charlottesville.
- 3/5
The pool should be outside or better ventation. It smelled of the pool cheicals.
- 5/5
All the staff was friendly and the room was amazing. Bed was very comfortable. I also loved the large shower. The free breakfast was really good and staff was super.
- 5/5
One of the nicest rooms I have had the pleasure of staying in, amazing
- 5/5
Well located for access to the beautiful downtown area of Charlottesville
- 3/5
What I didn't like about our stay is that when we opened the door to our room, there were other people already occuping the room. The staff couldn't understand why this happened. We were given a different room, near the ice machine :-( No flavored creamer like other locations for coffee.
- 3/5
Pet fee was not clearly stated on expedia and was big surprise when i arrived at the hotel… staff was understanding but would be helpful to clearly understand expenses before driving 4 hrs and have no options on arrival
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
The surrounding area
- 5/5
Excellent experience. Would definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly. The room was nice and spacious but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. One light fixture was missing a light bulb and the extenders to close one set of the blinds were not on the blinds but sitting on the floor against the wall next to them - we had to reattach them ourselves to be able to close the blinds. Breakfast was ok, eggs were soggy and no bacon. The hotel was very quiet which was appreciated. Location was good. Parking is $10/day.
- 4/5
I liked the location. It's close to UVA, John Paul Jones arena and the downtonw mall.
- 5/5
I will say that I failed to consider when I booked that each room was a full-service apartment. While I did not take full advantage of the kitchen, these rooms would be good for those staying for at least several weeks, or families who want to save on food costs.
- 4/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Kitchens in room
- 5/5
Clean and quiet
- 5/5
Excellent stay! Clean, convenient, friendly staff, and yummy breakfast buffet!
- 5/5
An excellent hotel in downtown Charlottesville close to the central mall and restaurants.
- 5/5
Very clean. Friendly front desk team
- 4/5
Really nice property and location perfect! The coffee was horrible but everything else I enjoyed
