The hotel's location and cleanliness are appreciated by guests, but the quality of towels and noise levels are frequent complaints. Some guests have reported issues with hidden charges and unprofessional staff behavior.

Nothing They didn't specify that I have to be 21.to check in, I assumed I was fine since I was over 18, didn't let me check in at all
- 1/5
So the fact I have to be buzzed into the lobby makes me feel unsafe with the area it's located in. Then the staff was very unfriendly. No one seemed to smile. I killed a cockroach on the 1st night. No body wash and a tiny bottle for shampoo. King size bed and only 2 pillows and they were the thinnest ever.
- 3/5
Very creaking floor, and thin walls, it's impossible to get enough sleep

Very nice and simple. Good price for the amount of time we stayed. We did find a few bugs (ants, spiders, etc) on the walls and behind microwave. None in bed. Pillows were very thin, sheet and a thin blanket was given. staff was helpful. had to pay a $100 down deposit.

Very loud in and outside. Very hard to sleep

Great location, parking super available, quiet area. Walls are a little thin, you can hear the neighbor rooms.
- 4/5
I stayed two nights. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean. Pillows were flat, but stacking them helped. Shower was clean and the water was nice and hot. All amenities in the room were clean and worked as well. I saw a few makeup spots on the bathroom wall, the door had a handprint. I came from California and would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Chicago.

Upon arriving for check in I was told there was a $100 deposit for damages. Not unusual, so I gave them my credit card, which they said was declined twice (I checked my credit card and there were no declines). They did the same to the couple behind us, who said they booked the room with the same card. We both had to go to a cash station machine and return with cash. There was no formal receipt given just $100 written down on my booking confirmation. Upon leaving they said there were reports of noise violations and did not return the deposit. They did ot say anything about damages, obviously because there were none.

Horrible staff. Did not help me at all
- 1/5
I like that we had a parking space. There was no hot water and the place was fully booked. We left after one night. They were out of washcloths. The third party i booked them with called to get my reimbursement for two days. They conveniently didn't answer the phone. Burn hole in the sheets several on the curtain covered with bandaids! Black tarry stuff on the carpet. It's a non smoking establishment.
- 3/5
The room was clean and adequate for one night. Overall Id give it three stars. The bed was comfortable, it was not expensive or flashy. But it got the job done and I really like that it was clean!!
- 3/5
Just the basic room. The King bedroom cleanliness is ok. However you can hear all the cars going on both streets, hard to sleep with the noise. Carpets are very old and smell, specially the stairs.
- 4/5
Older motel with limited facilities, but clean and comfortable. Bed is good, bathroom ok. Parking is adequate, and Panera across the street provides breakfast. Frig hummed, but price for the room is great for Chicago. We stay here every time we visit our daughter.

Nice place good price
- 4/5
Room was spacious, I appreciate the fridge and microwave, the coffee. Everything was satisfactory. There was no hair conditioner in the bathroom when i arrived, just shampoo. I probably could've asked for some but at the time I presumed that that was all you provide.

This is a great, budget friendly option for 1-2 travelers

This place is run down and the whole wants obviously got the message that it doesn’t matter, people will still stay here. I was attending an event nearby and selected a reasonably priced hotel instead of the some other options further away that were ludicrously overpriced. Bad move. The carpet and blanket both had cigarette (sure, let’s go with that) burns. The sheets had visible stains and my bedbug check got EXTREMELY thorough. Fingers crossed. The walls are beat up and need to be re-finished and painted. But the bathroom…*chef’s kiss*. The metal strip between the carpet and tile in the door had EVERY. SINGLE. NAIL sticking up waiting to cut my foot. The bathroom wasn’t…what’s the word…clean. Or safe. The toilet was dangerously cracked. Like, “the next person of above-average weight who sits down on this thing might die from being sliced up when the porcelain shatters” cracked. And for some ungodly reason, there is a motion detector in the bathroom hooked to what I can only believe is a 1 million candlepower semi truck headlight that stays on for 3 minutes whenever you enter the bathroom, even at 3am when you just have to pee. -1/10, never again.

Cleanliness was great, shower was great, check-in was meh, parking was terrible. I would recommend this place as long as you're not driving.
- 1/5
This place is right next to a road and lots of road noises at night. The AC/heater makes loud noise that you can’t sleep. For a motel room, the room is pretty clean. But the location is just terrible. I would not stay here as I can’t even get a decent sleep here.
- 2/5
Don’t use the towels there Get your own
- 5/5
I love how clean the room is... it's well-organized, too. There's a parking spot—which is fantastic, especially in Chicago—and the staff is available at all times. The air conditioning works very well.

Only issue was no freezer part in the fridge and when they replaced the sheets they left them folded on a chair for me and didn’t leave another coffee pack for the next morning. I stayed 2 nights. Other then that it was pretty quiet and room was nicer then expected.

Two words: BED. BUGS. Absolutely disgusting. On top of the bed bugs, there were also other bugs that randomly fell from the ceiling and holes in the bed blanket. This is the most disgusting place I've ever stayed at. Even worse, Expedia doesn't care whatsoever and refuses to issue a refund. Unbelievably embarrassing both on the property's end as well as Expedia's. I recommend you stay away from both this property and Expedia; spend the extra money, communicate directly with a 4+ star hotel, and save yourself the bug bites and stress. This totally ruined what was otherwise an enjoyable trip. Expedia should be ashamed.
- 4/5
Staff and check-in were very nice. Room did not have any hooks or closet space, but I slept well and the amenities were good. Walls are a little thin. Neighborhood is safe. Bed was comfortable and firm.
- 2/5
Very limited parking, and the door didn’t have a secondary lock or peephole. Not worth $90
- 1/5
Leaky roof. No open rooms to transfer to. Had to find new hotel to move to last second. Still haven't received my refund I was promised.
- 5/5
In a nice location
- 3/5
The bathroom had hair in the shower when we first arrived. The lock on the main door connecting to all the rooms were broken. And the actual room had a broken second lock. The bed only had a thin sheet with a decorative thin cloth- there was no comforter or warmth whatsoever. There was also no full body Mirror in the room either, only a small head mirror in the bathroom.
- 3/5
AC worked well, bed was decently comfortable, had microwave & mini fridge.

- 5/5
Good experience will come back again
- 4/5
Simply a place to stay - convenient location, easy parking, good value.
- 3/5
Stay was okay for price, only issues I experienced were the flat pillows (definitely bring your own if you value comfort) and the distance from the L (a 2.5 mile hike).
- 3/5
Could use breakfast. Little cleaner
- 1/5
Inconvenience
- 4/5
Ok
- 2/5
Leaking toilet, broken window, poor selection of channels on tv, thin walls -you can hear what people are talking about in the near rooms... Not the best place to stay in even for low budget
- 3/5
It was ok. Just a little messy
- 3/5
Good location because it isn't too far from downtown. I checked in with a kind gentleman but that's where the pleasantness ends. The room & staircase had a strange smell, I didn't trust the cleanliness of the bathroom or the bed (slept on top of the spread). As I attempted to check out around 5am, the representative must have thought I was a common loiterer and rudely dismissed me until I showed my keycard (I would have given this location another stay if not for this instance). I will find another location to use for my next visit to Chicago.
- 4/5
Exceeded my expectations
- 1/5
Shops and dinning nearby.
- 4/5
Good stay for the price
- 2/5
The shower had a constant drip, the bathroom had a foul smell (like a sewer-type smell), and the bathroom had some of its lights on some sort of motion sensor that kept going on and off even if you were standing still.
- 3/5
Noticeably older inn with some updates and renovations. Thin walls and WiFi issues but ok for a one-night stay
- 5/5
Good value
- 4/5
Where we try to stay when we go to see our daughter in Chicago. It's not a big place, but the price is good and the rooms are nice and smelled good. Bed was decent, although the pillows could better, and I would prefer cotton over microfiber sheets. Bathroom amenities were soap and no more, The lady running the front desk is grim but does her job well. Parking is adequate and right off the street. There is a Panera one block away (which is closing alas!) making breakfast easy,
- 2/5
The first night the downstairs neighbors were extremely noisy for about an hour (about 2:30AM)!
- 5/5
Great value property. My room was clean and well appointed. And the price very fair for a place in Chicago!
- 5/5
It was very clean and nice for the price. Pillows could use an update. Very lumpy but other than that it was great!
- 3/5
We later realized the cup prevented the splash from getting on the bathroom floor. Ingenius? Kinda - but perhaps fixing the shower would be better. Also - at 2am the first night - we heard like 6 gunshots. This was a first for me.. It was cheap. It seemed clean. It did serve its purpose for a 2 night stay. I don’t think I’d stay again or recommend it
- 3/5
The staff were friendly unhelpful. The room was clean and larger than expected. But the curtains were ripped. And the area around the hotel and the stairwell were dirty
- 5/5
Super convenient

First and foremost, I want to recognize Barbara at the front desk. She was truly the highlight of my stay. Every single time I checked in, Barbara was warm, professional, and welcoming. She went above and beyond her role by not only making sure everything was handled smoothly but also by offering thoughtful recommendations and advice. That kind of personal attention made me feel valued as a guest. Most importantly, knowing Barbara was on duty gave me peace of mind—I felt safe, respected, and able to finally get the rest I desperately needed. Staff members like Barbara are rare, and she is a tremendous asset to your hotel. Housekeeping also did an excellent job. My room was always clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a big relief during my extended stay. That level of consistency made it easy to settle in and feel comfortable for the weeks I was there. Overall, my stay at this Rodeway Inn far exceeded my expectations. I came in thinking of it as just a motel stay, but it turned out to be comfortable, restful, and stress-free. Because of the outstanding service—especially Barbara’s professionalism, kindness, and dedication—I will most definitely stay again and recommend this location to others. Sincerely, Erica Edwards

- 5/5
Very safe and quiet! Friendly staff, will stay here again.
- 2/5
The door frame trim that had the door latch was loose from the wall and would come off. The water smelled like sulferus well water. The windows seemed to be made of paper as theyvlet in every single noise from outside. Parking only had 15 spots with 1 handicap spot to cover a total of 20 plus rooms. The door to the stairs that lead to our room did not lock or even have a latchctocstay closed. The beds were clearly bricks with some springs in them and the blanket situation was simple a queen sized heavy duvet cover with not actual duvet inside of it for a king sized matress. The room as a whole was clearly poorly remodeled. Oh and the coffee maker had moldy coffee still in it from the previous person who had stayed there.
- 3/5
The room was adequate the beds were very comfy. However the walls were paper thin and behind us and to the right of us there was a baby screaming. Not the baby's fault. However by 11:30 p.m. when we went to bed everything seem to be very quiet.
- 5/5
Surprisingly very clean & well maintened. Didn't expect much since I knew I was booking at an older motel but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived!
- 3/5
no microwave oven, But the microwave was on the list.
- 4/5
Convenient location and great value on the price.
- 1/5
I was refused a room and I am still waiting for a refund
- 5/5
Good service, great room.
- 3/5
Friendly staff at check-in. Door to our hallway did not lock, so anyone from the outside could come in. Bed was very uncomfortable; the pillows had very little stuffing (old and lumpy) and smelled like urine. There was no place to hang clothes. The single sink did not offer any place to get ready in the morning, and the small bathroom had the only mirror. The TV did not work. It said there was no signal. Carpet felt dirty on our feet. Curtain was falling off the rod. Had to run the water for a long time to get warm water. Light above the sink in the bathroom did not work. The room was one of the cheaper ones we could find in the area.

It was what you pay for.
- 2/5
The mattress had a plastic wrap around it that crinkled like a potato chip bag every time you move. We got two small travel-sized pillows total (one each). Reception could not be reached by phone. External doors into the areas where rooms are aren’t secured, and someone rattled our door early in the morning.
- 1/5
I attempted calling the front desk this morning, but the line was either picking up or working when dialing 0. The room doesn't have an iron and ironing board. Therefore, I walked downstairs to see if they had one behind the desk. The lady asked what my room number was. I couldn't remember the exact number, but I told her I think it is B21. The lady explained that I am not in the system, and asked me to confirm my room again. I told her how to get to my room, which is take the B door and it is the first room on the right upstairs. She proceeded to tell me that I AM NOT IN THE SYSTEM and asked me to go and check my room number. I walked back and confirmed my room is B23. I asked "If I am not in the system, how will I get my deposit back". She then became angry (called me rude) and denied to give me the iron and slammed the door to the office. Yes, she verbally said she would not give me the iron. Note, when looking at the phone in my room, it says room 21. However, the room number says B 23. I booked this room through hotels.com. I will be leaving the same review there as well. This is my 2nd time every staying at a 2 star hotel. It will be my last time. I didn't know it was 2 star until after I booked my reservation.
- 5/5
It was a very efficient experience. Perfect for a place to sleep for the night as long as you don't care that the window is very close to the parking lot. Clean and a good value.
- 1/5
Was charged an extra $60 when i got to the hotel for no better explained reason than deposit..???? I asked for an explanation genuinely confused as I've already spent money on the hotel online and was met with attitude and rudeness…. The receptionist’s demeanor made me feel so questionable about the safety of my personal info i for the first time actually thought about the dangers of handing someone my ID not once til now had i considered that
- 2/5
I was charged 60 dollars as a deposit without getting a receipt even though I was only staying one night and lady who checked us in said that I can get the receipt in the morning when I check out. When I checked out the guy was so rude and refuse to give me a receipt and said that I have to wait till the manager comes; I asked why I have to wait, just print the receipt and let me go and I told him that the lady last night when I checked in said I will get the receipt in the morning, then he I answered “ I am not her!!!” He was extremely rude and pushy and barely gave me a copy of my check in paper. I will never stay there again.
- 5/5
Simple stay
- 3/5
Pretty old building g but our unit was renovated …. Bedsheet did not seem clean had spots disappointing no closer or option to hang out suits and clothes. And no mirror in room only a small sink and Amal mirror in bathroom.
- 4/5
It was fine
- 3/5
Across the street from a Starbucks. Easy parking.
- 1/5
The locks on our doors were broken so we had to barricade ourselves in the room
- 3/5
I would stay in this property again, staff are nice, but the place could use a little touch up paint new carpet, pillows but you get what you pay for and it’s better than most “motel” in the areas I stayed in before it’s descent enough for a day or two of stay.
- 4/5
Lean and clean. Great value.
- 1/5
Dirty and smelly. Smell of poop from bathroom spread out and covered the whole place.
- 5/5
Definitely pleasantly surprised.... Clean rooms.... Frig..... Microwave.... Cozy!! ❤️
- 1/5
The ac was out and i called and waiting on a refund
- 2/5
I rented two rooms for 3 nights each. One room was occupied by a maid taking a break when we entered, she quickly left and all was fine. There was only one washcloth when we were two people. Only one coffee when there was 2 of us. We had a bag that had some food on it so we left it in the shower stall overnight, the next morning there was a load of ants in the shower stall. The chain lock on the door was installed incorrectly so when you put it on and opened the door it just fell off. The door had obviously been pushed in as it was broken. It didn't feel safe. The keys we had been given lost the code for the doors and we were forced to continually go to the lobby, which was locked in order to get the keys recoded but the second person in the room couldn't do this because they only would give the key to the person who had given them their ID. I guess it would be ok to do that but they made it difficult with the locked lobby.

Clean room, updated bathroom, fridge in room, free parking, good location for visit to Evanston or Skokie. Rooms are small, and we were by the street which was noisy. No amenities but a nice place for spending a night or two if you are just looking for a place to sleep.
- 3/5
It’s a good stay if you have no other option. I mean it’s not too bad but the bed sheets did have some black stains on them. Bathroom was clean… we go food that night left the bag there to throw away in the morning and it had ants… but other than that it’s not so bad… staff was nice and polite.
- 1/5
Didn’t even stay after two hours of realizing this property had bugs. When I went buzzed into the office to talk to the receptionist he proceed to yell at me about why I didn’t take pictures to somehow prove what I’ve experienced. Listen, maybe the hollowed out burnt car in the front of the building or the broken front doors that do not lock should have told me something but I was willing to give it a chance. Instead I was out over $200 plus the $60 deposit they don’t tell you about. Just avoid this spot. It’s pretty simple.
- 4/5
Just a heads up, there is a $60 deposit due at check in. The room was clean and quiet. Lots of good places to eat and shop.
- 5/5
So convenient and cheap, and the inside was wonderful.
- 4/5
Perfectly suitable motel for quick, no-frills stay. Only real issue was extremely low water pressure in the shower.

Definitely not great. Staff are civil, but if you want more than that...keep looking. They have done some remodeling, however they didn't finish it.

A Nice Inn To Rest At.
- 5/5
Everything was good
- 2/5
Just basics. Nothing fancy. Housekeeping was thorough, but needs some updating. Carpet should be replaced
- 5/5
Room was nice. Looked newly renovated
- 4/5
As an economy hotel, this one was pretty good. The pluses were a nice big flat screen TV with cable service and blackout curtains. The negatives was that the room was carpeted making me worry about the presence of bedbugs and there were no grab bars or soap shelves in the shower. Otherwise, it was conveniently located for my visit and there were stores and decent places to eat nearby, including a Panera just across the road. The hotel clerk was helpful and friendly.
- 1/5
Our room was booked as a king bed and when we arrived the bed was a full size
- 3/5
Clean and newly renovated. Tv and cable box not working. Area ok. Outside door doesnt lock which made me nervous.
- 5/5
The desk clerk in the evening was excellent and helpful. The staff member in the morning was as well.
- 1/5
Toilet backed up easily and had to use towels to save floor and then no plunger or replacement towels. Man said complain in the AM. I leave in the AM. Could be much better if employees cared
- 1/5
This place is a total rip-off. I reserved this room for my adult son and called before making the reservation. They assured me he would be able to check in. When he arrived they said he could not check in unless I was present, offered him a different room to check in to, and refused to cancel my original reservation, so we were charged twice. I called many times to talk to the manager and she was always "out". Expedia attempted to contact the manager and could not get through and dropped my complaint. Shady. I obviously will not use Rodeway Inn again, nor will I use Expedia, who was of no help to me and does business with places like this.
- 5/5
Good
- 1/5
Shower had worn and torn paper cup catching the drip! Hair on floor in bathroom! Smelled like a smoking room. So gross I left! Only redeeming quality, lady at reception was nice! She offered me a warm water when machine would not accept a $10 bill and I didn’t have change.
- 3/5
Tv was busted. Not a lot of restaurants
- 2/5
The woman working was horrible she was mean very nasty attitude not helpful at all I was double charged even my bank heard how nasty she was to me. Room was okay thin was quit during the day noisy at night.
- 4/5
Room was decent, parking readily available, bathroom large. My wife noted that the room had no closet or place to hang clothes. Noisy fellow tenants returned to their room one night at 3 AM. There were ok restaurants within two blocks, both for breakfast and dinner. Price was reasonable.
- 1/5
This is very old property and I don’t suggest to stay here. Only washrooms were remodeled. Every thing is old and stinky.
- 5/5
Really nice for the price . Staff was awesome from the cleaning lady to front desk
- 1/5
My Amtrak train was late on arrival which made me late to the check in and instead of the motel being understanding they treated it like it was my fault of missing the check in check me out onto the streets in the middle of the night in Evanston and didn’t even gave me a refund for a room I never got to you.
- 4/5
Good value, would be nice to have at least a desk chair to sit in
- 2/5
The service was poor, the front desk "hosts" were very rude.
- 2/5
The outside of the building needs work, lots of trash. The stairs are very noisy. I was awoke by hearing people in the next room. The housekeeping left my door open when returning a few hours
- 3/5
Customer service is rude.
- 4/5
Close by to things around and food.
- 3/5
