Reviews
The hotel is generally clean and affordable with friendly staff, but there are issues with shower pressure, bed comfort, and noise. Some guests have reported unprofessional behavior from staff and problems with refunds.

After check in the key can not open the door (3 times ) staff must use the foot kick in together .Bathroom door cannot close
- 5/5
The bed sheet had holes in it. Should be replaced. I would have expected with a 2 night stay for 1 person there would have been 2 towels and washcloths. The air conditioner was great. I will stay there again!

No frills room that was excellent solution for what I needed, a room that I was literally just going to sleep and shower in.

It has been many years since I had a room with no mini refrigerator or microwave! Room was clean except for bathroom door that had dirty fingerprint smudges. No extra blankets provided and sheet was so short it barely made it up to my chest. Card slot to open door was so broken that I had to make 3 trips to lobby to get the card to open the door. And the clerk acted annoyed because I was bothering him! How about me-up and down the stairs 3 extra times? Could be a decent place if owner would spend some money.
- 3/5
Conviently located near the venue I was going to : Aragon Ballroom NO smoking room had cigarette burn holes in the bed sheet! Cmon, replace them! Lousy room door handle: you put the electronic key card in slot, but door wouldn't open. Had to ask office mngr what to do, had to pull UP instead of down like usual, wasn't told this when I arrived. Tried that, still didn't open. Had to ask cleaning staff that was nearby what to do, she put card in, then pulled it out, then pulled UP on the handle. VERY annoying experience upon arrival.

I checked in. Waited for the receptionist. I got checked in and provided my credit card. I was assigned to room #2. I requested the first floor because I was traveling with someone that was handicap. At first I couldn't open the door, so I went back to the front desk and was told to tried harder, to move the handle up and down,so I went back and did what I was told but a male came out and asked what I want. I showed him the sleve of my key that showed room #2. (Thursday May 7) I went back to the front desk and had to wait a long time because there were people checking in or asking question. The receptionist searched for another room but there was nothing available and he told me that there was not going to be charges. I asked for the docs I signed and the guy, the receptionist tore the papers in front of me and he said there is not charge because I didn't get a room. I left believing that I was not going to get charges. To my surprised I did. I contacted hotels.com via chat and on the phone. The hotel keeps on twlling them that I will not get my refund because I checked in, and they have a copy of my ID and credit card.... first of all they should not have a copy of my credit card and 2nd the receptionist had to made extra copies because what the hell he tored in front of me. Any how. I will never ever stayed there, they overbooked and they charged you the full stayed, in additional they can give you a room where someoneelse is staying, no a safe hotel.
- 2/5
The rooms are infested with ants in the bathrooms and some in the front of the hotel. No microwaves and they dont have a phone number thay works so you can call the front desk. Thats not professional at all. I recommend only staying here if you have no choice. They went inside my room before checkout just because they didn't see me. Not professional at all. The front desk staff was fine amd helpful. But you have to put 100$ refundable deposit down which i didn't know until I arrived as I booked through Expedia. I would not stay there again. Good luck!
- 3/5
The staff was very helpful and great but no microwave and everything is OK.
- 4/5
Did not like the parking lot
- 4/5
All in all, it was exactly what I needed and I worked around the issues. Thanks
- 4/5
The room was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
the room was adequate and the AC worked great. there were little stains on the bathroom door and one on the blanket but otherwise great. i wish the bedside lamps werent blue light but that’s no biggie.
- 3/5
Shower pressure weak. In need of major update.
- 5/5

- 3.5/5
Would have been nice to have a mini frig and micowave
- 2/5
Check-in took forever.. When I went to checkout, no one was at the desk . Room was decent but dont plan on good coffee or soap even. Was thankful I brought my own.
- 0.5/5
The location The room was dirty and the facility had a ot of maintance problems. So, I left the place. They overbooked my room and never gave me my money back. I am still waiting for my money. They told me I should talk to the manager but he never appeared.
- 4/5
Clean and good
- 5/5
Easy to find. Staffwas friendly. Well worth more than what we paid.
- 0.5/5
When I checked in on Friday, I requested late checkout on Sunday. On Sunday morning, I slept in until 11:30, when the cleaning lady knocked on my door. She asked when I would be leaving, and I told her 12:30. A little later, there was a loud pounding on my door. When I opened it, the day manager angrily told me that I needed to leave immediately. I asked for an hour, and he angrily shouted, "Twelve o'clock!" I explained that I had requested late checkout, and he shouted, "I'm the day manager, you need to ask me!" I said okay and got out by noon. I have never been treated so rudely by anyone while staying at a motel. I will certainly never stay again at Rodeway.
- 3/5
Worn out building, worn out room, squeaky beds, really bad washrooms, no microwave, no fridge.
- 3.5/5
No mini fridge, toilet was too close to the wall.
- 1/5
We're delayed by tornados on the way and upon arrival the front desk employee had his back facing the customers and just yelled "we have no room". When I said we had a reservation he said "no you do not". I have never experienced such blatant disrespect in a professional setting. I called Expedia as well as my trip insurance company and never got through to a human. Unbelievable horrible experience.
- 2/5
But
- 4/5
Ivan Room 7, which was a handicap accessible room, which I requested the toilet, was not secured to the floor the bolts were missing from the or I should say the nuts were missing from the bolts that secure it to the floor. So I had to be very careful getting on and off the commode, and whoever did the tile job in the bathroom for the shower, they didn't pitch it enough. So if someone's not careful, they could get water even into the room, I was able to keep it from happening, but Not everybody would pay attention to the stuff Like that and The parking was not great. It was very close quarters. I'm a professional driver, so I had no problem. Getting in and out but I can see how people could have problems if they're not as experienced so that was concerning

Good value, free parking, comfortable bed, large room.
- 4.5/5
Didn't have mini fridge in the room
- 3.5/5
Room was updated and very clean, with free onsite parking. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel might be spartan compared with most other properties, it offers great value if you just need a place to sleep for the night. Not a turn-off, but a surprise - be aware that they charge a deposit at check-in on site in addition to the room charge to cover any potential damages to the room during your stay - $60 cash or $100 by card. Cash is refundable upon departure, card within 5-7 business days.
- 5/5
No problems. Quiet. Thank you!! Front desk was very pleasant
- 1/5
The staff provided terrible service; furthermore, they rented my room out to another person and threw away my personal belongings and electronics that I had left in the room. They took no responsibility for anything. I do not recommend this place.
- 1/5
My husband made the reservation (for us, in my name) but since he wasn't with us, they refused to allow us to check in and would not refund our reservation. Beware of this place.
- 2/5
Room is very small compared to pics. No trash cans inside the room which was weird. Parking lot area looked sketchy and the workers at the front desk were sketchy too. Upon checking out the guy forgot the duration of when deposit comes back and stated he was drunk and that’s why he forgot.
- 5/5
Though an older motel, it was clean and updated. Staff was very friendly and went out of his way to accommodate us.
- 5/5

- 3/5
Decent room. Clean enough. Staff was great checking in. Ok checking out. Price and location are good Ceiling of the room had some issues. AC did NOT take out humidity. No fridge, but for the price..... Chicago....I get it. Could not get an extra pillow:(.
- 4/5
Served its purpose. Not fancy but adequate! The bedsheets and covers could have been more comfortable if they were a size or so bigger. Much too short!
- 1.5/5
Hmmm, just the location I'd say. It was more or less ok. Although the street would get real loud quite early in the morning. The staff was rude. We got there after a 10+ hour flight and asked if we could pay the deposit the day after (60 EUR, whereas we had already paid the whole amount for our stay which was way more than this sum) - our European card wouldn't work. The person at the reception asked us to go find an ATM and get the money, and got at my husband for being "so tense". Then began the room search escapade. In the first room part of the ceiling was laying on the floor (there was no hole still, but still). The second room was swarmed with spiders - outside of the room they were crawling everywhere and dropping from the ceiling, in the room - they had the whole corner to themselves. The third room seemed to be more or less ok, with no visible problems. WiFi didn't work, at all. The staff was not ok throughout our stay there - having personal conversations whilst you are standing there waiting, talking to you as if you are not there and avoiding eye contact, not showing the least interest in trying to help you out. Although they did try to give us the best room there was on the night we arrived, I give them that. The best this motel has which simply means nothing has fallen off there yet and there are no life forms starting something new there.

I tried to change the date of my reservation with plenty of time ahead, more than one month of anticipation, because a family situation came up an I knew I was not gonna be able to make it to the original reservation date, multiple requests, emails, calls directly to the business at different times and the few occasions i got answered, "they didn't know how to change a reservation", keep saying I should call back at different times, it should be one of the most basic requests in this kind of business. I lost the money and I had to reserve with a different place
- 4/5
The bed was real hard and the blanket was very thin

- 5/5
Great place for a couple of days. Good staff!
- 1/5
Firstly, we were locked out of our room around midnight. When calling, the line went straight to a dead end, non-working phone line. When going into the office area, NOBODY was there to help. I stayed in there about 20 minutes, nobody in sight. Another 20 or so minutes go by, I go back into the office and FINALLY someone comes out and has the audacity to be rude and short with me. So, do yourself a favor and just pay the extra money to get somewhere a bit nicer. Awful experience. In addition, the room was dirty in all corners of the room, gunky dirt on the ground. Only one working outlet and it was in the bathroom. The TV had one random channel on it that only played infomercials. Horrible experience.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, overall great stay, no complaints!
- 4/5
Cheap option for Chicago. Close to Lincoln park
- 1/5
I spotted a bed bug, caught it (rhought I killed it), and took to the front desk. I thought I wpuld be placed in another room but instead I was told to leave. At 11:50 pm, this was terrible. The person at the front desk said I would get a refund for the booking. When I thought about it, I understood this development as a blessing in disguise. I was very happy with the next place I stayed. Will never entertain another stay in a Rodeway Inn. I am still waiting for the refund ($179.64) and refund of the deposit ($60).
- 5/5
My friend left his phone and wallet in the room and he went back for it in an hour and he got it back . Very Dope staff that works here . I will definitely be back when I go back to Chicago! ✌️❤️
- 2/5
Everything in the property was good. The only feedback I have is with the front desk staff. One specific one was rude to me and my Boyfriend. We asked to fix our card access and he was acting annoyed and giving us pushback. Did bot appreciate his sarcasm and negative attitude.
- 5/5
It was a bit loud being close to the road
- 1/5
manager was never avilable to change resev date. front desk staff says they are too busy .some kind of wrong business going on. there. never never stay there again.
- 2/5
Close to downtown. Otherwise real sketchy.
- 4/5
Hotel was clean, staff was pleasant. Rooms are very plain, but comfortable. Looking for a place to sleep at night, this is a bargain.
- 3/5
Decent location. Clean room. Easy-going staff. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a centrally located place to spend the night.
- 4/5
The place wasn’t too bad. I did not have high expectations or anything of the sort. One thing that was odd there’s no phones in the rooms. But me and a friend booked the room because we went to the city for a concert. Didn’t want to have to drive back really late, so we just had the hotel to sleep in one night and we left long before checkout so it was OK. It wasn’t anything like the review reviews online. The reviews online were horrible and it was not that bad.
- 3/5
Room was dirty. Signs everywhere saying not to smoke and literally the lobby smelt like smoke, the room smelled like cigarettes the towels and the bedding all smelled like cigarettes. The walls were even yellow from cigarette smoke. Then again what do you expect for $100 a night. I got my deposit back thankfully. It was very close to the train, bus stops, some dining and shopping. In a very nice little area. I would stay again till they did something about the cigarette smoke smell.
- 3/5
I can't say many good things about this facility. But to be fair, the cost effectiveness is really high. One of the cheapest hotels in Chicago. I would stay here for this reason only. If you don't need to save money I would not recommend you to stay here. Not very clean place. The isolation between rooms are very weak. You have the possibility to listen to other rooms all night long. The street creates too much noise. To have a couch was good though. Free parking was another "plus". No hairdryer or microwave in the rooms.
- 2/5
Pillows were horrible, felt like cotton balls in a pillowcase, mold on walls, electrical outlets were few and didn’t work. Left early.
- 5/5
Bed not the most comfortable but does the job! Very affordable nice staff clean room
- 5/5
Very reasonable
- 5/5
Super clean & quiet. Rooms are large, clean & bed is comfortable. Great for a nights stay.

Cheap furniture, good service
- 4/5
A great place if you just need a place to sleep and then move on to other activities. Very clean and easy parking too. Not many amenities but we didn't need them so it worked just great for us.
- 2/5
The hotel is in an area of town where I wanted to stay, but the room was too dirty for me to stay after the first night.
- 1/5
The room was clean and was reasonably priced but ended up leaving after the first night due to the unsafe conditions. There were drug deals going on in the parking lot and could hear people all throughout the night. Someone even tried to get in the room around 2am. Stayed in the 1st floor and heard every movement from above. Felt every spring in the bed. Would highly NOT recommend staying here.
- 2/5
The order did not match what was ordered.
- 5/5
Great for the price
- 1/5
When we arrived they said they overbooked and would not call around for another hotel. I told them I had arrived from Arizona they didn’t care Earlier in the day they had called to confirm the reservation which I have on voice mail

- 5/5
It’s clean.
- 3/5
Great front staff. Decent neighborhood many services nearby. Perfect for a,one night flop.
- 4/5
It was just what I needed. Great stay and wonderfully restful
- 3/5
This is excellent for this type of hotel: a place to keep your stuff while going into the city to get stuff done. This isn't the place for vacations, no pool, no room service. It's great to stay in the city when you plan on spending time everywhere else but the hotel.
- 2/5
This property was clean and smelled fresh. However, there were no amenities, i.e. hair dryer, iron and ironing board, hangers.
- 5/5
We booked for 4 adults there was no soap nothing in bathroom and no drinking water in room
- 2/5
Bathroom door broken; bathroom smelled of open sewer; no closet, or even single hook or chair to lay a coat; tv didn't work; no blankets, just a single sheet on the bed; constant noise of traffic from busy Lincoln ave - or anybody talking in the parking lot. Of course if you could afford anything better you wouldn't be staying here, so if this is all you can afford you could do worse. At least the room seemed clean, the staff friendly, and we did not encounter any prostitutes or hear any gunshots (though we weren't there on a weekend. )
- 2/5
Broken floor that was duck taped down.
- 5/5
We were staying in because my partner going to work the next day and I got event the next day. Grateful to have staff help us and make us feel comfortable our staying.
- 1/5
Poor hotel. Not worth the money. Checked out after an hour.

It was ghetto. Water damage. A hole in the bathroom door stuffed with toilet paper. The gentleman working was nice. We were only there to sleep.

When I arrived I could hear the clerk sleeping in the back (he was snoring)
- 1/5
Service was mediocre. The walls are super thin, it felt like the doors weren’t safe. People staying there were definitely doing drugs and had their music blasting. The entire stay felt unsafe. Never again would I stay at this place.
- 3/5
For me, this was a bare bones rental for the location, in town Chicago not far from my oldest son. Older property, on a busy street, not much around it for walk to dining.
- 1/5
property needs mora attention
- 4/5
Lots of good stores near by
- 5/5
Well kept , clean , on budget
- 4/5
Small cozy room. Room had some wear and tear but over all not bad.
- 1/5
EVERY ROOM IN THIS BUILDING IS INFESTED WITH BED BUGS I WATCH THEM KICK PEOPLE OUT FOR MENTIONING THE BED BUGS. THEY VERBALLY BERATED ME FOR ASKING FOR A DIFFERENT ROOM AFTER FINDING SIX BED BUGS CRAWLING ON ME. WHEN I ASKED FOR A NEW ROOM THEY PROCEEDED TO KICK ME OUT AT ONE IN THE MORNING!!!
- 4/5
Great service personnel and spacious room. Although the bathroom has a horrible smell as if the sewage is backed up
- 4/5
Affordable, great location.
- 5/5
I love these motels. This one was great. The staff was very helpful.
- 1/5
The toilet was clogged
- 3/5
Clean qnd cheap
- 5/5
Initial check in was okay, wouldn’t describe it as a warm welcome. The room itself was clean so no complaints there.
- 2/5
Nothing like this motel Parking spot in northern side very bad to park need to re mark the line,& should have hanging for clothes No closet No shampoo poor communication was good Location but need real attention
- 1/5
A hole in the door (was the start)….then once it was raining, the rain came through the hold and under the door all the way to the first bed! See the pictures. We got back at 9:50pm, and left at 10:40pm. Pay a little more & stay elsewhere. Hopefully the property will work with me for a refund.
- 4/5
The property doesn’t have any elevator, our room was upstairs, so we couldn’t take our baby in her stroller. We had to change our two queens bed room to a single bed room on the ground floor but as we booked through expedia, the hotel was unable to pay us the difference. Other than that everything was great.
- 5/5
Evanston Illinois is a very safe community and has lots of public benefits for visitors
- 2/5
Our room key didn’t work and had to be reset several times. Asked for more pillows, never got them. Finally got some clean towels and the bath mat was a dirty bathing towel that had been cut in half.
- 4/5
We got what we expected!
- 4/5
Will stay here again.
- 5/5
The hotel was very clean and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
The shower needs a lot of help. Shower head was a mess. Shower curtain needs to be longer. No shelf for soap or shampoo. Need more blankets on the bed. Froze most of the night.
- 5/5
Nice place to stay
- 1/5
So, I booked 2 night Stay with 2 double bed option. Upon reaching they say they are out of 2 beds and can only offer 1 bed room. They say it's Expedia's fault and they can offer me a refund. Upon contacting Expedia the team says the hotel declined the request for full/partial refund. I mean this is so unprofessional. On our face the staff was apologetic and a couple of days later we receive notification from Expedia that they decline the refund.
- 4/5
This room had everything I needed and expected at this price point. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 3/5
Bedsheets and room was smelly
- 4/5
It was okay for a cheap place to stay! I would stay again
- 5/5
I have no complaints
- 5/5

horryble
- 5/5
Was very wry clean, I will like a warmer blanquet 🤗, was not cold but a warmer blanquet will be a very good, the area is a little bit noisy, is it
- 1/5
There's no attendant in the office The phone numbers posted in the lobby Go to dead end disconnected numbers. Some idiot came into the lobby 45 minutes later with a bag of food in his hands unlocked the door and walked in the office. I asked him if he works here and he was silent. He asked me what I needed and I said I needed to get into my room. I asked him what the phone number is to this place and he said word for word. "I have no clue" I waited for 45 minutes in the cold to be able to get into the room that I paid for. This is very unacceptable Expedia. What do you intend to do about my wasted time and inconvenience?
- 3/5
Not at all worth my $75. Felt very uncomfortable with the bathroom as there was no separate section to shower and the water flowing towards the room. Bed seemed to be really old one coz of the squeaky bed frame. No mirror or microwave in the room. Definitely won’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a basic stay…….
- 5/5
room was nice and clean. made up everyday too
- 3/5
Smelly room
- 5/5
It was a small friendly hotel.
- 4/5
Conveniently located, fairly easy access, clean, helpful staff
- 5/5
It was a nice and clean place. Bed bery comfortable
- 4/5
ok
- 3/5
OK motel. Fine for an overnight stay. Older building, but clean and comfortable. No amenities such as fridge or microwave. Good proximity to Wrigley field (short drive). About what I expected for the price.
- 4/5
It was closest way to Evanston where we had an AGO Convention
- 3/5
It’s the perfect spot for a one night stay, but the walls are thin and voices carry. It’s impossible to get out of parking on side of the lot. I had to inch by inch back up.
- 4/5
Bathroom door was broken would not close. The mattress should’ve been replaced as there was a canyon in the middle of it. When ask desk our maintenance guy knows was the answer.
- 4/5
Perfect for a weekend getaway with friends.
- 3/5
Dear Authorities. This is a personal matter. Please ignore or revise. English only. Pls. And thx.

- 5/5
It was clean and well kept. The staff was really nice. Definitely will be staying here again.
- 3/5
Rooms are cramped & uncomfortable @ reception insalubrious, but for a convenient Chicago location @ the price, it is a good bargain.
- 4/5
good
- 4/5
Convenient location
- 5/5
I have stay at this hotel for many many years, when I am in the area. I like that they keep improving on the condition. I REALLY WISH YOU WOULD PUT IN A REFRIGERATOR AND A MICROWAVE. It very hard to keep food cold when you stay for several days, like I do. The staff was wonderful and very helpful as always. I tell my friends about this place ,but they all want a hotel with A REFRIGERATOR AND A MICROWAVE. Thank you Keep up the good work.
- 2/5
Very bad services, I don't know what to say,
- 1/5
this place was extremely sketchy and rude. it seemed like a trailer park - an episode of trailer park boys in fact — the area wasn’t safe and i was refused to stay because of them mixing me up with someone else saying i stole an ice bucket from the room??? why would i steal a $5 piece of cb plastic bowl? insane!! was left to stand outside in negative temperatures while i found somewhere to go risking my health and safety :(
