I reserved room for 4 night stay and from the moment I walked in room I regretted it. this was a disappointing stay – Safety and Cleanliness Concerns I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience during my stay. Multiple electrical outlets in the room were either faulty or loose, creating both inconvenience and serious safety concerns. The microwave malfunctioned — it powered off mid-use and locked my food inside, leaving me unable to retrieve it. I was forced to purchase additional food because of this. To make matters worse, the air conditioning unit was extremely loud and rattled throughout the night, making it difficult to get any proper rest. The final straw was discovering a roach in the bathroom — completely unacceptable from a cleanliness standpoint. This stay fell far below basic expectations for comfort, safety, and hygiene. I would not recommend this hotel unless these issues are addressed and resolved.

One thing to note - we booked a one king bed room that was said to sleep 3. In the photo there was an upholstered chair next to the bed which we assumed was a single fold out bed. Nope! Thankfully, as we were 2 adults and a 7 year old we all shared the bed with no issues, but the story would have been very different if it was 3 adults!

Simple hotel. Staff was nice. Hotel was clean. It was a bit dated. For the money, that's to be expected. Not much to look at in the area. Easy drive to food and drinks. Only 10 mins away from the stadium.

It was a raggedy roach motel but the service was decent, Friendly. The water was hot and the online comp went pretty quickly.
- 2/5
Room was clean. Outside grounds not so much.

Convenient to food, shopping, and the Interstates (I-20 & I-26). Not a good place for more than 1 or 2 nights

There was mold on the ceilings. Even after switch rooms. The smell of mold and mildew made me puke repeatedly. I tried to check out before attending my brother's army graduation and no body would answer the front desk. I called and no one answered. I checked out early because I couldn't stomach the place and now I can't get ahold of anyone for a refund. This place is horrible and needs closed down! It's a health hazard!!!157.00 for what? Making me sick? Stay away!

Lobby is blocked off & you only see staff thru a window & a small open slot underneath. Room was big & clean, but outside of motel was not as clean. After things got quiet about 10 P. M., everything was fine. Staff was courteous

Free on site parking. Microwave and fridge. I was going to put food in fridge, BUT it was not plugged in and had MOLD inside. Not sure why there is a sheet over the couch. I did not want to find out either. Bathroom had a smell. The plus side is for the price and condition (my toom was not bad outside of the fridge), there was AC, and NO ROACHES OR BUGS in my room. Yay for that!!! I was traveling solo. Was left alone by other guests.

Doesn't look the greatest on the outside, but the rooms are decent, our beds were really comfortable. Microwave and fridge in room. Very nice housekeeping. Area is quiet and parking is well lit. Close to restaurants, laundry and stores. Will rent here again if work sends us back to this area.

We needed something budget friendly and this place was certainly that at 58/night. That being said, I definitely feel like the stay was worth the money. I mean I wasn't expecting amazing accomodations at that price. You could tell that even though the place needed updates that, what they had was pretty well upkept. There was one major thing though. Linen was never changed at all on one bed even after I pulled the linen off one day. Both days we were there it looked like someone had come in to clean, got started (one bed made and another not--tub cleaned but sinks not.)
- 5/5
It's peaceful and quiet. I don't like the other guest (always a male) knocking on my door. I come here to relax and that's just what I get relaxation for the most part. I also would like housekeeping everyday that I'm staying there, but other than that I love the place and the staff is very friendly to me always.

Well the bathroom did not work for half a blessed day and then it finally started with hot water right before checkout. There was trash everywhere in the parking lot and on the sidewalks to go to the rooms. I don't think the rooms were worth the amount of money that you paid and the owners walk around all night long it's very rude and disruptive. If you wanted to your customers to feel awkward and that's the way to go!
- 1/5
I didn't like anything. The place is stuck in a hole. All kinds of stragglers roam around. Dirty rags hanging outside the office. Bugs were in the beddings. The towels were dirty so was the bathroom. I evacuated from a dangerous storm and had no choice because hotels were booked solid. The electricity jumped off in my room while I was out. Told a breaker tripped. Toilet began to back up as we were leaving. The add said that the place was full when they had nothing but vacancy. A local told me that I needed to be careful at night because all kinds of people hang out there. I'm still in shock.
- 4/5
Not peaceful to much drug dealer driving in an out the parking lot

Pictures show a pool. They have no pool. Upon entering the property, there was a durggie asking for a smoke and a prostitute waiting to be picked up. Proceeded to the room to check how clean it was and was not surprised at how filthy it was. Went back t

I have been staying in several hotels in the area. If it states it's a 2 or 3 star. If you're not paying $300 a night you will not be happy. I however found this to be one of the cleaner hotels I have visited. It was quite and I bring my own linens no matter where I stay. The room and bathroom were clean and lots of channels to watch if you like tv. My only drawback was the ice machine didn't work.

Mediocre!!

It’s not a clean place, even for a night. There was a cockroach in the bathtub in the morning.

Aweful smell in checkin office. Very run down. Bad area. Guys smoking pot out in the open right out front. Room key barely worked. Room smelled like pot and mildew. Furniture stained and torn gross.
- 3/5
This was a non smoking room. I had to relocate from the first room that appeared to be a smoking room. The toilet didn’t work properly, the tub and shower area was extremely slick and unkempt. The towels had black flecks of something stuck to them. The room was quiet but in a run down neighborhood. Not my usual American Inn experience. It’s was definitely a $60 room.
- 3/5
Very accommodating management. Was able to get in the room early. This is an older motel but it was clean with a well lit exterior and parking lot. Rates were excellent.
- 3/5
Typical low budget motel. Area itself seemed suspicious when first encounter in it, but it was fine after the first night. Parking lot is well lot. Room smelled like old cigarrettes smoke, bed was comfortable. Fridge worked well and the inside of it was clean. Good place to stay without all the frills. As always, bring your own cleaning supplies and sheets
- 3/5
I didn’t like the fact that room wasn’t clean and looked like the towels weren’t clean, so glad that I always bring me own towels

Office smelled bad. Sheets were stained. Refrigerator, microwave did not work.

Didnt honor expedia price I was charged more. Bathroom door handle was broke. The lights went out.

Requested a refund, didn’t stay. Holes in the blankets, damaged lamp shades, insects in the tub.

The next morning, we were greeted at a few minutes past 11:00 by two staff members asking us “if we were leaving” even though our bags were obviously being packed to go. I understand we were a few minutes over our time, but we have never been rushed away by a hotel like that before. We did not feel welcome. Sadly, would not recommend.

Stayed near Fort Jackson for a military ceremony. Woke up with bites from bed bugs. Hotel appeared clean orherwise. Would not recommend if issue isn't treated.

It was very quiet and peaceful... staff was nice. Will refer and come back

The room was decent for the price. However I had several issues. First, all the though the room was ok, the smell of mold made me sick to my stomach. I could barely eat in there. Second, i had to deal with a leak in the bathroom. It was raining pretty badly as the storm was passing. The bathroom was lesking so badly thst i thought the shower was on. Got up the next morning to a lot of water on the bathroom floor. Lastly, the room was not clean all the way. The first night there, my dsugther found coins on yhe side of the bed. There was also dust under the chair pillow. It was a lot. When the housekeepers came in, the fix the bed and just left. But you get what u paid for i guess.

The night manger was rude, lock myself out late and he was upset I had to wake him up to get a key
- 5/5
The owners were wonderful....did everything needed to comfort evacuees from Hurricane Florence. The room was comfortable and clean. Access to Interstate 20 is great. I would definitely stay there again even if I was just passing thru and not evacuating a storm. Police patrolled area often giving guests a sense of security. I would highly recommend the American Inn to anyone.

Absolutely unsafe area
- 2/5
The place needs renovation. Dingy looking and bad smell. To be fair though the room is not dirty. Just really unkempt.
- 1/5
Room smelled like cigarretes. Carpet was not clean. My wife had dirt smudges on her feet from walking from shower to the bed. Surprisingly the bed sheets and comforter smelled and looked clean. Beds were a 7 out of 10 for comfort. No bed bugs from what we could see. Staff seemed pretty friendly.

The Ac was off when we arrived. The hotel needs to be in better condition the room rinked, The hotel staff did not want to give us towels when we needed extra. The hotel was in a bad spot to bring children to. The bathroom was a mess and the shower was not clean. When we gotten there, there was a prostitue being dropped off and it was just HORRIBLE there was even MAN SPECIMEN on the floor nevere again will I stay in this hotel.

Not a good experience what-so-ever! The room wasn't too too bad but the sevice was TERRIBLE! 11:01 AM on the dot they decided to knock on the door to let us know it was check out time, there was no in lobby coffee or breakfast... not even cereal, when I asked for a coffee maker for my room that was supposed to be in every room, I never received one so I had to borrow one from another room that was in the process of being cleaned, and when I asked for condiments for my coffee it was like pulling teeth to get any. I asked them to switch my room because the air conditioning was terrible in my first room. When they switched me I left something behind in my previous room and they wouldn't let me go in there to retrieve it until the following morning... and I asked to retrieve it way before night time. It was awful and I would definitely not recommend this place to anybody... also, I paid $60 a night!! That's an absurd price for this place..
- 3/5
There were no hangers to hang our coats the bathroom was out of a horror movie the air conditioner malfunctioned the tv service was nice
- 2/5
Starting with check-in at the tiny, bullet-proof glass bank teller style window, to the 6-7 attempts it took to unlock the door, to the smell of cigarette smoke when we opened the door to our "non-smoking" room, to the stains on the bathroom door and ceiling... everything about this place made me regret booking it. Tried to get out of our 2nd night, would have had to eat the $$ we paid. Decided all we needed was a bed and a shower, so we stayed the 2 nights we booked, spent as little time as possible at the hotel and packed up our luggage for the day while we were out exploring Columbia. No way we were leaving anything unattended in that room. Felt uncomfortable leaving our 23 yo daughter alone in the room while my husband and I made a short trip to the lobby (had to be buzzed in!) in a futile search for a cup of coffee in the morning. Worst 2 nights of an 11-night road trip!
- 3/5
We just stopped for the night on our travels up north so we just wanted a place to sleep and headed out very early the next A.M. I was a littlest concerned about the area but it was very well lit during the night.
- 3/5
This inn was close to everything. If you’re just looking for a bed and some tv then this is it! We got some soft cheap sheets from Walmart and covered the bed and pillows. This made us more comfortable and the experience more enjoyable. Not the cleanest place, stains on the walls and doors but it served it’s purpose.
- 4/5
Stayed overnight for business trip. Comfortable room with large desk. Older facilities but fairly well maintained. Clean, nothing fancy.
- 5/5
It's was great. Willing to come back to stay more often.
- 5/5
Perfect for a flight issue, one night, choose a smoking room Which is rare these days Imo, but was clean, look like the owners/manager are trying to make some nice changes to the too. Couldn't complain.
- 3/5
Convenient for a last minute stay and location was decent as well. Affordable
- 3/5
For the price, it was pretty good. Check in and check out were easy. The bed was comfortable. The TV was good. The bathroom could use some work, but everything worked. That was the main thing. There are lots of restaurants and shopping places within walking distance and a bus that took you to downtown. So if I'm ever in Columbia again, I'd stay here again.
- 1/5
The room smelled nasty, it was hair and color on the bed in 2 diffrent rooms at that and dusty. The Manager told me in his exact words just get out you just looking for reasons not to stay here. I have never seen such a unprofessional and disgusting room in my life
- 4/5
For the price, the hotel wasn't bad.
- 4/5
Everything went as expected, typical low budget lodging, friendly staff, quiet.
- 3/5
When first arriving, the comforter had a hole in it. it was promptly replaced. Other than that no other problems
- 2/5
Mgtm appears to be family and they are always creeping about. Unnerving. Top it off we had left a bag in the room and they denied anything was left before even checking!!! Really???
- 4/5
It was fine. U only stayed a few hours and then hit the road .
- 3/5
It was very run-down and in need of a lot of attention.
