Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the hotel's location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, there are frequent complaints about the breakfast quality and noise from the street or nearby construction. Some guests also express dissatisfaction with the parking fees and lack of daily room service.

Poorly designed rooms. Poor cleaning. Good breakfast. Good parking. Efficient staff -Daniasia was very helpful.
- 5/5
The rooms are spacious and the location is great in downtown Durham. Easy walk to Duke east. Several good restaurants and ice cream are just a block away. There's a charge for parking here. Breakfast was tasty. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Room was very spacious, staff very friendly
- 5/5
Very clean and spacious room. Hotel staff that I had contact with were very hospitable and professional.
- 5/5
The only area that could use improvement is the breakfast. The selection was very basic, mostly eggs and pork options, with limited healthier choices available. The fruit also did not seem very fresh. I think revamping the breakfast menu with fresher ingredients and more healthy variety would make the stay even better. Despite that, I would still recommend this hotel because the customer service was outstanding.
- 5/5
Clean, spacious rooms with an extremely helpful staff! Highly recommended!!

I greatly enjoyed the service provided at the front desk by Tiffani. Both her and helped me resolve an issue without any negativity. When you can approach customer service with a mindset that every problem has a solution, only great things happen.

Great downtown location

Wi-Fi did not work and we were not told the procedure for paying for parking. Received a $20 ticket.
- 5/5
Rooms were spacious and spotless. Customer Service was phenomenal! Housekeeping were friendly and had no problems giving the extra items needed, including extra pillows.
- 5/5
We love this hotel. The staff is excellent and the rooms are well designed and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious.
- 5/5
Courteous staff, spotless rooms, comfortable bed and pillows.
- 2/5
Room was too hot. Staff did not convert couch to bed as promised; had to remind them
- 3/5
3 of 5 drawers off track & stuck. "Extras" solicited included bid to upgrade at a charge for parking, late checkout, early checkin. 1/4 roll of toilet paper in room for the 3-day stay (had to request rm servicing, towels, etc. if you wanted them). Bar closed before published time, while breakfast stopped replenishing food before its time. All in all, what has been a pleasure in numerous past visits became a $$-focused, not customer-focused experience.

Staff is dismissive and rude
- 3/5
The room temperature doesn’t go over 70F even when it was set to 74F. I didn’t like. Cold room temperature kept me awake all through the night
- 5/5
Hotel was great - very friendly staff.
- 5/5
Great stay. The hotel breakfast left a little something to be desired but the room was clean, the staff was helpful. This was everything I expected.
- 4/5
Clean room. Lighting in bathroom needs to be better.
- 4/5
Nice hotel for the price. Good location. Big rooms. Quiet. Easy parking. Could be a little cleaner.

Great location! You can walk to great restaurants and coffee shops. The room is clean and spacious. The bed is very comfortable and it felt like a nice treat at the end of long day. The staff is very friendly, specially Tiffani and Laura at the reception desk. They were very helpful and welcoming, always greeting you with a big smile and making sure we were doing fine. I will definitely stay there on my next visit.

- 5/5
Was very nice. The staff was very polite when we arrived.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing! Breakfast had so many options, quiche, waffles, fresh fruit, sausage, hard boiled eggs…. Room was very clean. Small market store in lobby. Lobby area with a tv and tons of seating. Nice workout room. But again, staff was incredible!
- 5/5
We had an issue with the room but the district manager took care of it immediately. Excellent Team
- 5/5
All good as expected
- 4/5
Laura and Tiffany were extremely helpful and accommodating. The whole staff was very friendly and welcoming!
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable and the gym was good. However, I gave the hotel 3 stars because the shower lets out so much water that it is actually wasting water. There's no door for the shower, so when you bathe, the water streams out of the shower and onto the bathroom floor. So much water streams out that I had to place the bathmat 12 inches away from the shower entrance so that it wouldn't get wet.
- 4/5
The check in was super nice. The air conditioner was making a lot of noise - a racket. We had to complain multiple times. But they did respond 🙄 after the third vociferous complaint and replaced compressor. Friendly maintainence team , Barry the maintainence executive brought in a lot of smiles with his attitude.

Exceptional
- 5/5
I am thankful for the very hospitable staff that I encountered at the hotel. Everyone was smiling at the front desk every time I passed by.
- 5/5
It was very clean and the staff was excellent. The stay was really good. The attendant was great at checking.
- 3.5/5
Big rooms, good facilities (eg fitness suite), clean Breakfast, staff
- 5/5
We love staying here when we come to visit our family. Every stay has been wonderful. The room is very comfortable. We love the gym and the breakfasts. Having a nice laundry area on the premises is also a huge plus. The best part is the fantastic staff-everyone is so nice and helpful. Thank you for always making our trips memorable.
- 3/5
It smelled musky and like urine in our room and much of the facility just smelled like cleaning supplies. The wifi wasn’t great in the room. The location is decently close to Duke, but the immediate area is at a street intersection right by a gas station. There was plenty of parking for pay by mobile 15$.
- 4/5
Shoutout to Tiffany/Stephanie? on front desk duty - she greeted us with a warm welcome & useful information!
- 5/5
The place to stay if you have business at Duke. Housekeeping is hit-or-miss, but that's par for the course for an extended-stay hotel.
- 3.5/5
Clean, spacious room. Good breakfast, though ending early at 9am. Good overall. Excessive nighttime noise (loud AC, loud fridge, plumbing sounds, train horns) repeatedly woke me. Hotel opposite a gas station, a gathering spot for homeless individuals, many of whom appear to be under the influence of drugs.
- 3.5/5
The room set up was nice. Bed and pillows were comfy - kitchen was nice too Heard the train go by a lot - The shower head was inadequate- and mildew in shower.

Liked the room and lobby area. Elevators not working. Breakfast- nothing was available. Scrambled eggs, none. Spinach quiche, none. Waffle batter, none. Bread, none. Utensils, none. We arrived for breakfast at 8:40am. Nothing was there. The person working told us they were done at 9am, so she wasn’t going to put anymore food out.

Clean, walking distance to gas stations and restaurants.,, decent breakfast in the morning that was free so can't complain... free hot coffee all day... spacious and well-decorated rooms with good cable and smart tvs. All around, great value for the price
- 5/5
Nice staff, very helpful. Close to Duke University, great place to stay.
- 4/5
An excellent place to stay!

The hotel was beautiful, conveniently octane the suite was immaculate. The receptionist,Tiffani, was kind and charming, a great representative of your company.

Stuffs are nice!
- 1/5
Utterly ridiculous and I’ll never book a room with them again.
- 4/5
Overall this was a good place to stay for an extended trip. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were very clean. As a pet friendly place, this was a plus. Our only complaint was the included breakfast buffet which was uniformly terrible each day. But, with a kitchen in the suite it did not really matter.
- 3/5
We were given a room near RR tracks so we heard a train throughout the night. Also paying for parking is ridiculous.
- 5/5
Hotel was very clean, just didn’t have a fresh smell. Loved the shower!! The room was spacious. Sofa bed was not very comfortable. Also loved having free breakfast offered! Front desk reception had excellent customer service! Loved that hotel was close to convention center and restaurants! Don’t like that you have to pay for parking.
- 4/5
This hotel was clean and well kept. The breakfast was very good. What I did not like is that I requested twice for my room to be clean while I was away on business and it did not happen. Poor customer service with regard to this issue but otherwise the sparse interaction I had with management was fine. I never did receive a follow up call as promised. Also beware if the train that rolls through the town of Durham in the middle of the night. it will awaken you with the blaring horn. Also, there is a $15 per night charge for parking.
- 5/5
Great location with some incredible Restaurants nearby
- 5/5
A very clean and quiet hotel property with great breakfast in the morning. Ample parking and reasonably priced. All of the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
- 3/5
Great location. Walking distance to the event I attended which I loved but there were ants in my room.
- 5/5
My son and I stayed here for his freshman move-in weekend, so it was my first time here but I’ll definitely be in Durham again within the next four years and will happily stay here again. The staff was friendly, helpful and competent, the facility and rooms were very clean. They have coffee and water available 24/7 in the lobby. The breakfast was substantial and varied for those with different preferences. It’s very convenient to Duke — esp. East campus — and you can walk to restaurants nearby or drive just a few minutes to even more. Great option for Duke parents and visitors.
- 5/5
Great and reasonably priced place to stay as a family in the center of Durham.
- 5/5
Clean, friendly, great location.
- 5/5
Loved how clean and big the room was.
- 5/5
Went to visit my daughter who is attending Duke. Great place to stay. Rooms were nice and clean. Very comfortable. The bar has signs for hours that were not accurate. A few night I was there I was told staff left “because it was slow”. This was at 7:00 at night. Seemed weird.
- 4/5
Other stuff: Room phone would not connect to anything when we dialed; breakfast was a decent variety of items but the quality was just the bare and basic including the microwaved frozen burritos. The food staff was as basic as the food and slightly rude. The breakfast times are different by only 30 minutes—-not sure if that small time makes much of a difference or just confuses guests.
- 2/5
Convenient breakfast Old facility Convenient parking
- 5/5
Plenty of space in the rooms, convenient to have a kitchen too. Staff was very friendly and patient with packages being delivered to many guests during college move-in.
- 5/5
Welcoming service and walking distance to East Campus for first year move in made this a great choice.
- 5/5
I bought travel insurance for the first time ever from Expedia thinking it would cover any schedule changes I had. I let Expedia know well before the last day of my trip that I wanted to cancel my 3rd night and they said it was too late and I was charged anyway. Expedia is blaming the hotel but Expedia was where I paid for the hotel and the insurance so this has nothing to do with the hotel. Really disappointed with Expedia but the hotel was great.
- 4/5
Located in Downtown Durham, just on Main St, and across the street from Duke University's East Campus, this hotel has an unbeatable location. The area is very quiet and relaxing, and offers excellent strolls and some good dining areas. Bars and restaurants are within walking distance and a bus will take you to Duke's West Campus. Facilities are fine, although the rooms have a bit of humidity. Staff is helpful.
- 3/5
The train will wake you at 5:00 AM. Also, 11:00 PM. Front desk person wasn't pleasant at all. Seemed like she didn't care for her job. When your in town for medical reasons you would like to be greeted with a happy smiling face.
- 5/5
Pleasant stay. I don’t love paying for parking, I think that should be an amenity that’s included
- 4/5
Great downtown area but a little unsafe after dark around this hotel.
- 3/5
I was on the business trip for 4 nights and 5 days. While the room and facility is clean, it lacks good room service, they don't even make up the bed and give us extra liner of trash bags. The quality of breakfast is the worst, boring, lacking variety, compared to other Residence Inn that I have stayed.
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Wonderful experience
- 4/5
Property under construction so super noisy all day.
- 5/5
Didn't like all the noisy remodeling going on.
- 5/5
Great location in Durham!
- 4/5
Expect renovations at this time
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly competent staff
- 4/5
Nice to have shuttle service to hospital and Duke campus (they serve a 3 mile radius). Easy walk to restaurants. Good breakfast and coffee service. Clean, well equipped studio accommodations.
- 4/5
Location is great, the building's in very good condition, but covid's over, and it's time to go back to servicing the rooms daily. Also, the breakfast was standard fare, and yet.... not as good as other places.
- 5/5
I liked the easy access to shops and food, as well as downtown and the interstate. Rooms were clean, breakfast was good (and free) and the staff were all exceptionally kind and helpful.
- 5/5
Very nice staff and very clean!
- 5/5
Great place!
- 5/5
Breakfast was great.
- 4/5
Hotel was nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I did not catch his name, but the gentleman who drives the hotel shuttle was so friendly and courteous and kind. The breakfast was good, a lot of options and food was fresh and hot. The only con I could think of is that there was a lot of street noise. I woke up multiple times throughout the night from cars zooming down the street.
- 4/5
for a business stay or writing retreat, especially as the kitchen allows you to cook and stay focused on work without having to leave the room. Location is also great if you do want to explore restaurants and Duke. Only complaint is that their breakfast is mediocre at best.
- 5/5
comfortable stay
- 5/5
A very nice hotel in the heart of Durham. Close proximity to restaurants, bars and DPAC.
- 4/5
The room was huge (an efficiency apartment, really).
- 5/5
Beautiful room with nice kitchen. Loved the turntable tv. Nice
- 5/5
Overall I would definitely use this facility again. However, my check-in staff was nice but not very informative. She didn't tell me about the parking, breakfast time, check out, the deposit, nothing. I had to ask the questions for my reassurance. Although, it wasn't the best check-in experience, I would still recommend and stay.
- 3/5
Good location and clean property. However, although requested to clean the room every other day, as they suggest, we have the room "refreshed" only one time in a 7-day stay
- 5/5
Very nice stay. Good food. Nice room. The only thing is i wished there was a pool. Our stay was during a heat wave in July and a pool would have been nice.
- 4/5
Cons: Don't think Expedia mentioned there was a $12 fee per day for parking or that cleanig would be done every 2 days The breakfasts are bad.Nothing fresh and natural except for fruit. The decaf coffee was horrible.
- 4/5
Not so great: The property really needs updating. It is clean, but the couches are stained, the carpet in the hallways is old/stained, the air conditioning doesn't always work, the drawers don't close, etc. I had to change rooms a couple of times when issues with the A/C arose. Management was very quick to respond and gave me a credit for one night because of my trouble.
- 3/5
At check-in we were told continental breakfast was served 7-10. We arrived at 9 and two employees were gathering the food and taking it to the kitchen. They told us breakfast was over. They were quite rude and more concerned with finishing their task quickly rather than accommodating a guest. When we mentioned the time we were given at check-in they dismissed us and said they had a job to do. Other interactions were small but added up to an overall frustrating experience. The fee for laundry was listed on a card in the room. We secured enough quarters only to get there and realize the actual cost was higher. Had to make another trip for quarters. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 8am despite having the 'do not disturb' hanger out. They came back again at 10. When we went to get our laundry around 10:30 we came back to the room and our key no longer worked requiring another trip to the front desk. Although check out wasn't until noon, housekeeping came back at 11:50 and told us we would be charged late checkout if we didn't leave. Again, all small interactions, but it left us feeling as if staff were more concerned with getting rid of us rather than our experience there.
- 2/5
Room wasn’t ready for 3pm checkin. Was given a queen room instead of the king we reserved so had to request the change to what was paid for. Toilet didn’t flush and all rooms were booked so stuck in a room without an operational toilet. Had to use the general facilities on the main hotel floor.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful!
- 5/5
I really like the location and the staff. The hotel was very clean and breakfast was also very good. I was not very happy with the noise from the street. Next time I stay I would like to be in a room not on the main road.
- 5/5
Good as always
- 5/5
Near Duke. Near bus service to Chapel Hill.
- 5/5
Perfect
- 5/5
convenient for visiting Duke
- 4/5
It was a very nice place and very close to where we wanted to be. My biggest complaint would be that we did not need that big of room or the kitchen so would have preferred to pay less for a smaller room. Also was not pleased they wanted to charge extra for parking on top of the already pricey room.
- 5/5
We liked the way the room was laid out. It made us very comfortable.
- 4/5
Didn’t like I had to pay for parking but overall stay was great!
- 4/5
Attractive property. Shower head was bad- very litle pressure and shower water goes into bathroom due to only partial glass door.
- 5/5
Extremely convenient for the purpose of my visit
- 5/5
Clean rooms. Lots of breakfast options. Comfortable beds and pillows.
- 5/5
Great staff and service.
- 5/5
Perfect stay I’ll definitely be back this is where I will stay the next time I’m in town for a Duke game.. the hotel has free shuttle to the game and surrounding areas within 3 miles from the hotel staff was great free breakfast and the hotel rate was so affordable
- 5/5
Nice clean room, good breakfast and great staff.
- 5/5
The location
- 4/5
Nice place. Parking is NOT free despite Hotels.com saying it is. Desk clerk said Hotels.com has been contacted numerous times to delete reference to free parking. Website says parking costs $12/day. Pool is small but looks nice. Breakfast is nicer than most hotels provide.
- 3/5
The bathroom floor had excessive hair on it. The shower didnt have the drain cover on. The A/C vent blows directly on the bed so it was a constant wind on you.
- 5/5
Loved it here. Excellent property and rooms. Very well managed and the front desk lady was so kind and helpful. My saving grace after a rough week of work. Though I did have issues with the Wifi going in and out constantly. That could be improved for room 104. As I could not watch internet TV and my calls would drop out. Other than that I will definitely be back should the need arise!
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice. Customer service was good. The room was very clean and up to date.
- 4/5
The windows probably should be replaced with better sound insulation properties.
- 5/5
I like everything about the hotel
- 4/5
$12.00 parking?
- 4/5
Everything was wonderful enjoyed staying with you guys. Paid for parking but giving a parking citation anyway, not sure what happen there but front desk said they would straighten it out.Hoping that’s true
- 5/5
Nice,professional staff. Very clean .
- 4/5
I didn’t like paying for parking, which was an unexpected cost.
- 5/5
The hotel and staff were wonderful! Very clean and quiet. Great accommodations for stays longer than a few days. The staff was very friendly. There's a free shuttle during the week for transport within 3 miles. We used it for going to dinner and baseball games. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance as well! Very clean hotel. Also a nice bar on property and plenty of room for events.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing!
- 5/5
Was a great last minute booking but everything was very nice. The only issue was that we could not get the heat or the AC to turn on, luckily the temperature was fine so it wasn’t that big of an issue.
- 4/5
Recommend
- 5/5
Expensive but perfect. Big room with full fridge, couch, desk. Great breakfast with real food. Quiet, clean, easy parking, good location. Perfect.
- 5/5
Rooms very clean and comfy beds!
- 3/5
Update cookware, 2nd floor room not as clean this time. And you should add a checkouts extension.
- 5/5
Great staff and convenient
- 5/5
Loved everything about it! Very clean and located around quite a few great places to eat in walking distance
- 4/5
Despite being renovated there are several bugs in the design and age of the system that create issues with the functioning of the AC system and electrical system. Otherwise very well designed and very comfortable. Good breakfast included.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly, the rooms and property were very clean and the rate was reasonable. I would stay again.
- 5/5
We had a very nice stay! The suite was very spacious clean & cozy. Breakfast was great & the severs were awesome! The staff was friendly & we definitely enjoyed our stay
- 1/5
This was the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at. There were crumbs everywhere, mirrors coated in dust and even the new clean towels (1 of the 3 provided) had stains on them.
- 5/5
We stay here because it's close to the Duke campus. Rooms are spacious, we enjoy having cooking facilities to make small things and our pet is allowed. It's perfect for college visits.
- 5/5
Comfortable room but staff needs to check for burned out lights.
- 5/5
People staffing this hotel are so nice!!!
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, walking distance to Duke East campus. Hope they fix up the dilapidated building across the street by Watts because it makes the area feel unsafe.
- 3/5
The hotel was nicely furnished and clean. That being said, there was too much noise from outWe did not like that the settings on the tv were dark making it difficult to watch certain shows. The engineer said that it couldn't be changed and all the rooms were like that.
