Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests appreciating the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. However, there are consistent complaints about the air conditioning, lack of breakfast, and ongoing renovations causing inconvenience.
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Air conditioning issues
- Lack of breakfast options

The staff was very kind. The room doesn’t have carpet however there was a lot of hair on the floor and in the tub. I think it’s great they have an area for people to hangout and bbq. However we were there on business and needed to rest… doesn’t make sense to have that outside of someone’s room. Again, really appreciate the staff being so kind.

When I had to check in late after a long day they told me my room was moved to the holiday inn across the street due to plumbing issues then I had to walk with my luggage late at night to the holiday inn. Just book at the holiday inn express nearby.
- 0.5/5
When I arrived I was informed that the Hotel was having plumbing issues and I would not be able to stay there. They told us we’d have to stay at the Holiday Inn down the road. For the inconvenience they were going to issue me a discount on my stay. The original charge was $180.69 and the Holiday Inn charged me $200. What a slap in the face!! So now I have to call the hotel tomorrow to get this adjusted! Nothing but a hassle Wouldn’t know! Didn’t stay there!

Great place to stay! Would stay there again.

Our senior hotel was excellent. Everyone was super friendly. The room was extremely clean. I would have no problem coming back and staying in your hotel again we thoroughly enjoyed being in your hotel.

Wonderful experience for a one-night stay. Clean, quiet, secluded and within minutes of everything we came to the area for. We will certainly be back.

All good. Staff was more than cordial. And helpful with any issues.

The room/suite was clean and in good condition. Staff were helpful and friendly. The parking lot was kind of torn up and slippery with rain and mud, so it was hard to park for check-in.
- 5/5
nice comfortable and clean stay

I stayed 4 nights for work. It was nice and quiet, friendly staff, and loved that they had free washers and dryers, you just needed to purchase your own soap.
- 4/5
The location was perfect for my needs.

Clean place. Nice staff. No odd smells in room. Will stay again. Big bathroom. Needs a long door mirror. Walking through the side doors to go outside was like walking through an ash tray. Butts covering the ground and the smell was bad. They butt stuck to the bottom of my shoes and was tracked inside. Along with beer bottles in the bushes. Other then that it was a pleasant stay. But out a trash can and cigarettes tube. Please.

Everything was great! I was there to visit my son whose enrolled at Judson University. The place was not far from the college. Thank you

We used the kitchen area a lot, to save on eating out all week. I wish there was room for an actual table so 2 people could eat together. I ate all week at a desk. Its a small thing, but i really missed having one. Otherwise the bed was good, and shower was fine.
- 5/5
This was a very comfortable clean place to stay, especially if you need to stay several days due to the small kitchen area and full size refrigerator. There are some good dining options within a few miles too.
- 5/5
By far, the staff was outstanding! They went above and beyond to help me with some strange communication issues I was having when I lost my cell phone. The staff was communicative and accessible. Although I would have enjoyed a morning mini breakfast, coffee was always available and there was a well-stocked mini-mart. I would definitely stay there again! 5 stars from me!!
- 5/5
Great room. Staff very friendly. Clean with a very comfortable bed. I would highly recommend this hotel
- 5/5
I had stayed here before and would stay here again.
- 4.5/5
Checking in was simple, staff were super-friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and had a great kitchenette area. We were traveling with dogs and had no issues there either. The little shop was reasonably priced - no attempt to rip-off the guests. Great choice.

I often have a lot of trepidation about staying at hotels without knowing how comfortable their beds are. Most of the time I wake up with a lot of back pain and just don't feel comfortable. I slept in a full size bed and was very comfortable. The check-in people were friendly, and the room was clean. The hotel was extremely quiet. I have zero complaints.

Modern decor and plenty of amenities. Next time I’m in town this is where I’ll be staying.
- 5/5
The hotel has a modern look, but still feels cozy. Our room was large and comfortable. The fitness center & laundry were clean. I liked that you need to use your room key to access the building after 11 pm.
- 2/5
Got a call from someone while at work asking to hold for a manager. No thank you. Manager called back stating there was a burst pipe and they have to move my reservation to a double bed. I ordered a king suite. Got to the property and they had to call a manager then proceeded to tell me they were upgrading me to a King suite and then proceeded to argue that this was an upgrade. It wasn't. It was exactly what I originally ordered so more time wasted. Get to the room and had to kill at least 6 beetles.
- 5/5
The staff Afraz and Alfred were amazingly kind, considerate, and accomodating. This specific hotel is my go to hotel every time i come into town because of the staff, the cleanliness, and the overall location.
- 5/5
There's a leak behind the toilet.
- 3/5
There was a blinking green smoke detector right over the bed, which was intensely irritating, but otherwise fine for a place to rest before driving on in the morning. The location was a little off the path in what appeared to be a commercial park.
- 3/5
We stay at a unit where apparently they host guests with pets. The room was clean but some things did not work well like the faucet in the kitchen sink and the AC unit was extremely noisy. We stay 3 nights and even though we let them know they did nothing about it.
- 3/5
Would hope to get refund.
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
Secluded and quiet
- 3/5
The only redeeming value was the bed and pillows. They were excellent. Otherwise the hotel fits in with Motel 6 and the like. The hotel was hard to get to, check in process was slow, the elevator made scary noises and the only thing free at the “uncontinental” breakfast was coffee. Won’t stay at this place again.
- 4/5
Great
- 3/5
AC barely worked/cooled. Minimal Hot water. Second time I’ve stayed here, won’t stay again.
- 3/5
Had handicap room. The only chair in the room was a straight back dining chair,at the desk. The beds were too high for me to sit on, to get into , and out of bed without assistance. We requested a chair with arms, to help me get up from the chair, They gladly brought an office desk chair, but wanted to take the straight back out of the room. When we asked them to leave it,they left it. In a room reserved for two guests, two chairs are expected in the room. Went home day early, because of the challenges in the room.
- 5/5
Excellent service
- 1/5
Room was not ready and when ready air conditioning and fridge not working. Didn’t offer a different room didn’t attempt to fix air conditioner. Room was dirty too.
- 5/5
Nice friendly clean and quiet place to stay
- 5/5
Comfortable bedding and furnishings. Pleasant and efficient staff, could have had the parking lot better plowed. Overall, a wonderful weekend stay.
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very quiet and comfortable.
- 5/5
Clean unit and nice having a refrigerator and microwave. Cozy bed with lots of pillows. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
The wifi was out. No wifi for three days.
- 5/5
Good place to stay
- 5/5
Very comfortable beds and pillows!!! The room was very nice and quiet. The renovations were fantastic and I look forward to my next stay with you!
- 3/5
The hotel was under construction, but I was not aware of this when I made the reservation. While it was not horrible, there were things that did not meet my expectations (eg, tub condition) that I wish I would have been able to anticipate. They should make it clear that the construction is going on before accepting reservations.
- 4/5
I liked the friendly service from the front desk. I was there for my wedding weekend and my photographer and make up artist were coming in on Saturday. Staff was friendly and accomodating to them. Great service! Only downfall was I left an item behind in the room after checking out. I called the next day and they did not have it anymore in their lost an found :(
- 3/5
The air conditioner was not working correctly and it was very humid
- 2/5
Was under remodeling bathroom was terrible no and mean no counter space at all suite with no chair or couch.
- 5/5
clean rooms,
- 2/5
The hotel is “under renovation”, which has been going on for 3 years. The bed is blown out, a literal pit on one side, causing the person to be stuck in one position. Every employee we have encountered has been phenomenal. The housekeeping staff do a great job.
- 3/5
Looked like the hotel was undergoing a remodel. Wasn’t stated when we booked. Room was old and outdated. Dangerous nails for my 2 year old exposed on the carpet tack strip. Baseboards tore up. Probably should have quarantined the rooms they were working on, instead of renting them out. Would have been the right thing to do. Overall high price for a substandard stay. Staff was friendly and nice.
- 1/5
Very nasty rude staff..place is not clean at all.they offer no room service during your stay.worst hotel to stay at.just avoid the place and save yourself some stress and time.beds smell badly, floors dirty nasty.just stay away trust me.
- 5/5
Had a pleasant stay no issues
- 2/5
Have stayed at this property several times in the past and never an issue until this past trip. I reserved and paid for a king studio suite, through Orbitz, we were traveling with our daughter and our grandson( 5 yo), we also had a late check in…room key did not work, ok, clerk had to manually do something to the door so that we could get in, we walk in to a king room, no sofa bed….I go advise the clerk and he blamed it on orbitz, I asked him to get me the room card for the correct room and he again blamed it on Orbitz, no apology for the error, just a little mouthy about it. I asked him to stopping placing blame and just get us into a room…he hands me the key cards and we move to a different floor, a king studio suite! The pullout sofa mattress had no support at the foot of the bed, literally hanging from the frame( I have pics), no bedding in the closet so now I have to make a phone call…not a good experience this trip.
- 2/5
It's not clean
- 4/5
The hotel is hard to find. Once there it was fine. No breakfast available. Paid or unpaid. For a place that is a bit off the beaten track, that not great. Our bed and room was absolutely fine except for a large leather chair with ripped upholstery. Really ..,
- 4/5
Close proximity to area restaurants. Both the room and bathroom were clean. Clean dishes in dishwasher—actually the kitchenette was a nice surprise!
- 4/5
Some of the staff weren't wearing masks. The young gorgeous Diana woman, working nights, anticipated my request to change rooms because the heater wasn't working very well in the first room I got. She was great.
- 3/5
This hotel is terrible- the room had no couch but it was called a suite- they requested a deposit and 4 days later after check out I still have not gotten it back. If you are looking for a hotel in the Elgin Il area that is pet friendly - look elsewhere.
- 3/5
Good location for our visit. The room was clean, but short on toilet tissue and had to get towels. No breakfast. Not being managed well.
- 2/5
very dirty hotel. Mold in bathtub, dust everywhere, an empty water bottle under the bed. When you leave they ask you to give a Google review for $5 voucher. For the price you pay I expected a better hotel.
- 1/5
Alarm clock was useless. No remote for TV. Furniture was worn out. Towel covering the old leather chair.
- 5/5
There is no place to hang a wet towel. All the staff was friendly and very helpful. They provided everything we needed. We felt safe/secure and slept well each nite of our stay.
- 5/5
Our stay was close to the medical building we needed for our tests. The service was great and Harin made sure we knew if we needed anything like new towels, coffee or anything like that the front desk would have it. It was a very nice stay.
- 5/5
Pet friendly which we needed on this trip, close to highway, dining, etc. would stay again.
- 5/5
The hotel was awesome ans very clean
- 4/5
There is a kitchen with stove, dishwasher, home size refrigerator and all cook ware.
- 3/5
It was Ok. Front desk was very slow. Manager on duty has no idea what he was doing.
- 1/5
Terribly dirty. $200.00 deposit. Kitchen stuff consists of few pots & pans. 1 spoon 1 fork. Was deep in an industrial park, next to nursing home. Was incredibly filthy durty bathroom and rooms. Noisy.
- 5/5
The Revenue Manager Harin Yogina who was at the front desk was amazing! Friendly warm and helpful. He made us feel like we were the only two people (my wife and I) in the whole building. Great service. He deserves a raise.
- 5/5
Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The accommodations were pleasing and comfortable. And the Hotel was easily accessible from the Tollway. We will definitely stay again, when we are in the area.
- 3/5
We were told we had an newly renovated suite but there were obvious stains on the carpet and the hot water didn’t work in the sink. There was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom and only one towel for 2 people.
- 1/5
First room we had walked in saw carpet heavley stained, food crumbs between beds on floor. Baseboards were removed showing nail holes and bare drywall. No table or chairs to sit on or to put luggage on. Missing handle on cabinet. Bathroom had electrical box with wires hang out, no tp holder no towel bars. 2nd room carpet was in serious need of vacuuming. Also no tp holder or towelbars. Tube leaked leaving big puddle in bathroom. Also no baseboards with nail holes and bare drywall. AC unit was noisy.
- 3/5
Nice location, quiet. In process of a needed remodel!
- 4/5
It was nice, pricier compared to the local hotels and also no breakfast was served. Was reasonably clean they should also focus on cleaning around the ac unit. I saw a spider in the ac unit.
- 4/5
Location was good
- 4/5
Great and friendly help at the desk. Clean rooms. Just what we needed and affordable.
- 4/5
Most important, it was in a good location where everything was close by.
- 5/5
Nice clean room at a reasonable price.
- 4/5
Overall great place to stay, I liked the kitchenette, really nice bed and pillows, WI-FI worked good, plenty of hot water, hard to set the water temperature, heater or a/c did not work, mentioned this to the front desk twice, first time the lady said all she could do is to move me to the upper floor, I chose to stay because I was close to everything.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly. The room and hotel was clean.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, everything needed was there. Fast service, spacious, comfortable bed
- 5/5
This hotel was exceptionally clean. Additionally, we were surprised about the high quality of the min-kitchen set-up.
- 3/5
Couldn’t get a late check out even though we paid for multiple rooms. But that is ok, the rooms we not the cleanest. Chairs were ripped and torn, had covers over them. Walls were dirty and even bath towels had stains on the top of the towels that everyone could see. Phone was not working to contact the office. Some of the rooms we got were cleaner then other.
- 5/5
Everything about this hotel was perfect! Quiet place
- 5/5
The front desk personnel were top notch, Alfred and Peter. A 5-star hotel in the city would be lucky to have them.
- 3/5
When i checked in i was given keys to room 125. That room was occupied. The other couple wasn't too happy about that either. Had to go back and given a different room.
- 1/5
I have stayed at another Candlewood and it was newer and good. I stayed here because you can get a room with a recliner but it was junk. The first one was tatered and torn and the second the same. The frames were bent and really screwed up my back. I was booked for 11 nights and got out after 4.
- 3/5
Basically fine but the place needs updating: the leather sitting chair in my room was worn and even torn in places, plus some of the things on the bathroom walls were literally falling down. I tried to push some of the screws back in etc but it was clearly a long-standing issue as the holes were now too big for the screws to fit.
- 4/5
Clean, helpful staff, will stay there again.
- 5/5
Didn't like the lack of visibility and access.
- 2/5
The first room had a terrible ordor and they over charged me for incidentals and it just wasnt a good stay, will not stay there again
- 5/5
Clean rooms and friendly staff. Would stay again.
- 5/5
The hotel staff was friendly and a very clean environment to stay in.
- 1/5
Worst stay ever! From the beginnings till the end.
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable and more spacious than typical hotel room.
- 3/5
Rooms I’ve stayed in smelled of mold/ mildew.
- 4/5
We stay at hotels quite frequently and missed not having breakfast offered.
- 5/5
I absolutely enjoyed my stay. The best experience at staying at a suite for a long time.
- 5/5
Rooms are updated, very Clean facilities and friendly staff. Our stay was excellent
- 5/5
The rooms (and bathroom) were spacious. I thought it said you served breakfast online when I picked out the hotel.
- 4/5
The room and public areas were clean and comfortable. Some furniture and kitchenette items were in poor condition or needed maintenance.
- 5/5
I was very pleased with all the amenities available, the gym and the laundry room. The staff was very professional and attentive. I was very much pleased with the small kitchen area available in my room.
- 4/5
The property is slightly worn, but clean. It would be helpful if they would have directionsl signs. A little difficult to find.
- 5/5
Nice staff and hotel
- 4/5
Clean and convenient and friendly ! Price was right as well! Live the partial kitchen too!
- 4/5
Excellent condition and very clean but, they did not clean the room or give us fresh towels for over night stay.
- 4/5
t use the workout room but there was a nice selection of stations. You can grill out side by the smoking area and because this is an extended the grill the grill area is a great spot to meet people. The property does allow Dogs so I asked for for a room away that area I would stay there again if I'm in the area again. Maybe a downside for some people is they don't come into your room to make your bed and change towels but all you need to do is bring your towels to the front desk, Not a deal breaker for me. One piece of advice is to avoid Jimmy Char House like the plague
- 3/5
It is good but if the hotel take the deposit for the room then the hotel should have to give the deposit with in 3-5 business day not 1 or 2 weeks
- 4/5
The rooms were very spacious and fully equipped. I travelled with my daughter and husband. We enjoyed making a full breakfast in our room before heading out for the day. The Mini store in the lobby was nicely stocked with pretty reasonable prices. One thing I would add is it should not say breakfast included- because it’s not. There’s not even a kitchen on site.
- 4/5
But. If you're looking to put up guests (as we were) or need an overnight stay, there are better rooms around for just leeping/resting. The room we were given smelled as if it had been smoked in, and the furniture was worn (they need to replace things like that). Beds were uncomfortable. Everything was clean, but just..... needing to be replaced. Good dog area. Nice staff. Just not a place to put mom and dad for a visit.
