Reviews
Guests generally enjoy the hotel's pool, location, and friendly staff, but have issues with the high prices, parking difficulties, and poor room service. Some guests also mention uncleanliness and noise issues in the rooms.
- Beautiful pool area with a lazy river
- Great location close to downtown attractions
- High prices for parking, food, and services
- Poor room service and uncleanliness in rooms
- 5/5
The downside was having to go from 28th floor to the lobby to use the microwave oven. One on each floor could make a whole lot of difference. Above all, we had an excellent time in this hotel.
- 5/5
The restaurants and bars on the property were fantastic, with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. The highlight of the trip was definitely the Texas-shaped lazy river and pool area. It was such a unique experience and made us feel like we were truly on vacation. The pool service was outstanding as well—attentive, friendly, and quick to help with anything we needed. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to return for another staycation!

Didn’t have breakfast. Did eat in Bigios restaurant. Had the Queso Fries and chicken. Bit down on a piece of hard plastic while eating those. Looked like the plastic that holds chickens legs together. Showed that plastic piece to the waiter. He said he would show the kitchen. Self Parking was shown to be Fifty dollars on Marriott paperwork. Was charged Eighty Four dollars to depart the garge for less than twenty four hours. Room and view were very nice.

Location Very noisy. Hotel should have quite hours. There was a whole party in a few rooms down. Hotel staff were in the hallway, but didn’t stop them. 2:30-3am very loud woke my kids up several times

Only negative to staying there was the cost.

Maybe it's just me, but if I'm paying over $600 for one night, I don't expect to keep stopping at the front desk to show ID and get wristbands just to enjoy the amenities. Beautiful hotel, but some of the extra steps felt more inconvenient than luxurious One thing that surprised me was that the mini fridge was empty. At many hotels, the fridge is stocked with drinks and snacks, and anything you use is simply charged to your room. Not a dealbreaker, just something I wasn't expecting.

We had such a great experience here, Xochi restaurant in the hotel was delicious. Anthony (Manager) was amazing and very friendly with anything we needed. We will certainly be back again.

This property is amazing. Great location in Downtown Houston. Lobby, hotel restaurant Biggio's and wine bar are great. The best part about this hotel is obviously the rooftop pool. They have plenty of seating. The pool waitstaff are attentive. The offered complimentary cold water bottles one of the days we were there. They have plenty of clean pool towels and the DJ was a plus. Rooms are nice and comfy. We will continue to come back when we can get a good rate.

Pool I almost slipped at the jacuzzi area. The railing leading in and out of the pillow is rather low. It should be raised. Also it’s a safety hazard since many of the guest are having drinks and may have a fall with the slippery tile. It may be beneficial to have a slip resistant pad there.

Great and easy check in and check out! The bell hop are great and very convenient

The room was clean and comfortable. All the amenities were outstanding and we always love the lazy river and bar! Only small complaint is the elevators are loud maybe just because they are old! Otherwise fantastic hotel and will definitely be back!
- 2/5
My friend and I were underwhelmed with the hotel although Spencer at the check-in counter was very pleasant and helpful. The pool which was the primary highlight of the trip but swimming at night was not a good experience. The water was so cold. You would think for a luxury hotel with a luxury price, the very least, the pool could have been a little heated.

The food was also disappointing — I ordered a chicken salad by the pool and it was clearly not fresh. My shower looked dirty, which made the room feel unclean and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, valet service was unacceptable. We waited around 30 minutes for our vehicle after paying $143, which is outrageous for the level of service provided. Overall, this was not a pleasant or relaxing stay, and for the price charged, I expected much higher standards in cleanliness, food quality, and customer service.

The hotel is amazing. My only problem would be the policy with the $200 fee.
- 3/5
Overrated. Overpriced.
- 2/5
However, our experience at the pool was very disappointing. As a family, we frequently travel with our autistic son and share our experiences to help other families feel more comfortable traveling, as it can be challenging. Unfortunately, a staff member handled a situation with our child in a way that lacked patience and understanding. Our child needed a moment to regulate, but the situation escalated quickly, and inappropriate comments were made that were upsetting and unprofessional. Additionally, an item that was taken by staff for safekeeping was not handled appropriately, which added to the situation. We understand that staff have rules to enforce, but interactions with children—especially those with additional needs—should be handled with care, empathy, and professionalism. We hope this feedback helps improve future experiences for other families.

Great facilites, clean and modern, perfect for exploring downtown houston, service was okay. But i have experienced far better service at the houstonian.
- 5/5
Don’t go out there
- 4/5
What i didnt like is the valet fee of $70/night and the hot tub always had too many people. The hot tub issue isnt unique to the Marquis. Its a problem at most large hotels. They always have small hot tubs Definitely recommend and ill be back

What I didn’t like was having to pay for parking. If I’m staying there & paid all that money, parking should be free. No way you have to pay for parking every single night you’re there. Not pleased with that.

Internet connections didn’t work very well. TV stopped and started. Valet was incredibly slow. This is an older building that trying to be more than they are not impressed. Unless you want to get in the lazy river and float around that’s about all this place has an offer.

- 5/5
Great hotel! The street noise was a bit of a challenge, from the room, is my only complaint.
- 5/5
Great experience, can’t wait to comeback in the summer !
- 5/5
We loved the convenience of the location. We walked to the Astro game. We had breakfast at Walker Street Kitchen— the buffet was delicious. The free beer in the lobby was an added bonus. The only complaint was the noise level late at night, the smell of weed coming from other rooms on our floor and the late night menu was not diet friendly.
- 4/5
Facilities are very nice, upscale, çlean I didn't have coffee or water in my room. Someone dropped the ball on that.

This place nickles and dimes you on EVERYTHING! On top of the $500/night room cost they charge you $75 to valet your car per night and even charge for WIFI!! Hotel itself is nice and rooms are very mediocre, no bath robes no slippers only a bottle of water that cost you $8 if you decide to open it. Only thing this place has going for it is the pool which you can buy a $75 day pass for
- 5/5

- 4/5
Staff was very nice and helpful. It is a pretty pricey hotel if you dont have time to take advantage of the amenities. The lazy rivier would have been fun if I had the time
- 2/5
I am sure, at one time, this was a top notch hotel. Unfortunately, I did not make it there during that period. What i witnessed was a children’s play center for the cruise ship crowd. For Houston, I am sure that passes as 5 stars. The suite we stayed in was dated, decorated in 1980s glam, was underwhelming, though the view was nice. Room service was delivered in to-go boxes despite our suite having a full dining room. Room was supposed to be ready at 4. Was told at check-in it would be 15 minutes. At 425 I received a call that our room was ready. We had to cancel our 5pm dinner plans as we were unable to shower, dress, and travel there in enough time. A manager never reached out to apologize for the delayed check-in.

Hotel is great looking inside. Lobby is very big with beautiful modern design. Receptionist was nice. Room was cozy and bed was very convenient. Bathroom was big and very clean. Restaurant sports bar was good with delicious food. Pool is huge with a lot of people but was very dark inside after 8 pm and I fell dawn unfortunately. Pool should have more lights on evening time. Overall hotel is nice and beautiful

Impressive property.

Hotel is located in great location for quick access to surrounding places. . Room was not ready by designated check in time.
- 3/5
Beautiful hotel. Check it with parking was very slow. The hallways on my floor were quite dirty. Garbage bags were in the hall. The pool was very beautiful, though the pool is open to the public to buy passes. The pool had a DJ playing the worst music extremely loud. It was not overly relaxing.
- 5/5
Staff super helpful with accommodations for additional night. The BEST pool in Houston! Marriott is my fav place to stay when downtown.
- 5/5
Amanda was incredibly helpful and nice. She help us to get all my fiend

- 4/5
Friendly staff! Easy check -in. Drinks are good but pricey. Had a great stay! Want to give a shout out to a young maintenance man who had to go above and beyond and clean up a disgusting mess. His name is Kessler. Please take note manager!
- 3/5
Pool two crowded with day passes. Should restrict access to hotel guests only.
- 5/5
My husband and I went here for my birthday, because of the lazy river. Everything about this trip was beautiful. Yes, we used the valet, and depending on the time of day, they can get really busy. For us, it was worth the money. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful with our questions. At the pool area, we did not reserve a lounge area or seat, but there were plenty of places to sit. The service in the pool area was fast and friendly, quite impressive for how busy they can be. The lazy river, pool, and jacuzzi can get busy, so get there early. My husband and I would definitely go back!
- 5/5

Love staying here but I wish they had an M Club add on.
- 3/5
The property was great and the hotel was very nice. However, I had a handicap accessible room and the shower was terrible. I couldn't take a shower without flooding the bathroom. I had to take very short, cold showers to avoid flooding
- 5/5
Has an awesome pool
- 2/5
We were very disappointed and shocked when we arrived for our weekend. Stay to find out that the majority of the chairs around the pool area that had cushions on them are a fee. $55 for four hours. Seems outrageous when you’ve already paid a facility fee to use the pool. In addition, one of the men that were renting the chairs offered to “reserve it through my phone, and you just reimburse me directly” this seem to be kind of a scam to me . Next, even though it is in the rules of the pool area, there were at least five people we saw wearing very small thong, bathing suits with all of their rear exposed. It explicitly says in the rules that that is prohibited, and we reported it, but nothing happened. Additionally, midday a DJ was set up with extremely loud speakers that made it impossible to have a conversation with the person next to you. And finally, we observed throughout the day that many people went without chairs, but the costly chairs went unrented.

There was mold on my cover sheets . Slept in them and noticed it in the morning .

The hotel overall is good, especially the lazy river pool, food is good too. The only downside is the stuffs, they are not happy for some reasons, not welcoming.

We really enjoyed the mini vacation we had at the marriot we had never been to a hotel like this one the rooms were spacious and very clean had a good view of the city and really enjoyed the texas state pool ...just did not enjoy to much the parking spots where it was a fee for parking per day ...but everything else was great...

I made reservation but had to cancel due to catching a virus and felt it unsafe for myself and others. I called 24- 48 hours ahead of time and explained my situation, front desk said ok they will take care of it and I still got charged for the stay even though I was never checked in.

I took my kids here to enjoy the holiday and I think it was a bad idea. Too many intoxicated people unfortunately. Some random guy cussed my daughter out (she’s 12) for splashing him in the pool accidentally while she was swimming. We left and didn’t even sleep in our room.
- 5/5
I would definitely come back
- 5/5
Loved it ! Amazing quality treatment and great food choices!
- 5/5
Nice view
- 1/5
The AC was not calibrated. We had to sleep at 65degrees and we were all sweating, my baby woke up several times during the night due the heat. The doors have around 2inches of space from the ground, therefore, we could hear everything on the aisles like if the people were inside our room. I'm not sure why the design is so wrong. the rooms should be as noise cancelling as possible. I would not be staying here again, the lazy river and the activities during the day were fun but it's not worth the rest of the negative things. Very dissapointed on the Marriot.
- 5/5
Awesome property lots of fun can't wait to go back.
- 5/5
Great place
- 3/5
Valet was great: Biggios great: pool service was slow & inconsistent- others had snacks out there but staff was firm / rude to us over small bag of beef jerky, room check-in was slow seemed inconsistent. Seemed like favoritism for some firm rules for others.
- 3/5
We went here as a staycation. The room was not as clean as i would have expected it to be for what we paid. We did bring it up with the staff but it was disappointing. The staff was friendly but could not call a taxi for us. We did enjoy the complementary yoga classes and pool/lazy river a lot. It was not what i expected for the level and price of hotel.

- 5/5
I liked everything it was nice
- 5/5
Overall, I had a great experience at the hotel—beautiful space, attentive service, and well-maintained amenities. However, I was really disappointed with the motorcycle parking policy. Small motorcycles, which take up minimal space, aren’t allowed to park up front—even when there’s clearly room. If the concern is aesthetic, I don’t believe a well-kept bike (especially one owned by guests spending $400+ a night) detracts from the property’s appearance. In fact, it feels more like an outdated rule than one rooted in logic or guest experience. Would love to see this policy revisited. It’s a small change that would go a long way in making all guests feel equally welcomed and respected.
- 5/5
Loved the lazy river pool
- 5/5
Lazy river view from our room on the 22nd floor was incredible! Would stay here again - spacious room. Infinity pool + lazy river + hot tub = luxury resort ! Area around is not so great though. $65 valet worth it as the self park area was sketchy - homeless a block from hotel.

- 1/5
- the shampoo dispenser didn’t work - the ac unit was extremely slow at cooling. Took all night to reach temp. - the walls are extremely thing I could hear every little noise outside the door. -the windows were really thin too could hear cars doing donuts all night long -the elevator was extremely noisy and I happens to be next to it which included all night long The pool - the pool is nice -I had rented a cabana and the email specified it came with free water and snacks. No one gave me the free stuff until nearly 2.5hrs later into our 4.5 hr rental. I had to ask multiple people never got help. The writer never even checked on us. Luckily I saw the manager walking by which made things right for us and even bought us dinner. I believe the manager name was Anthony? Anyway he was by far the best manager to deal with and made the night better thanks to him. Overall though the hotel is not worth the rental price if I had to say so myself. I don’t recommend it and I don’t think I would stay again. Not for the price is cost at least

Only negative not is the TV. Not that we were in our room a lot but the TV audio would de sync and if you turned the tv off to fix it, it would mess they tv up and would take a while to get it working again

Stayed here for dreamcon weekend will do so again !
- 3/5
The staff overall were vey nice and helpful.
- 3/5
On my second night there was a group chat f people that stayed up all night smoking marihuana and screaming. People will come and knock and it was pretty loud. They were even playing music. I didn’t feel safe calling lobby to complaint because I have my daughter and myself that day only. I can’t believe on a hotel like this type things like this happens. I have stayed at Marriots for most of my trips but this one in Houston was the most terrible experience. When I said something at the lobby when checking out there was not even an effort to make it up, they let me walk with not apologies or nothing. No words to describe this situation.
- 3/5
Good stay, but so nosy at night. And bed was uncomfortable. (Stiff) it was our second time staying here but just seemed like mattress was so uncomfortable.

During check-in, I specifically asked the valet service not to roll down the windows of my friend's luxury vehicle, as the tint had just been applied. However, this request was not relayed to the next valet attendant, who rolled down the windows anyway. Furthermore, the pool area was excessively crowded with children, and a fight erupted among several adult males. Additionally, a woman I had spoken with briefly in the hallway arrived at my room, knocking on the door and asking to join my friends and me. Ultimately, I checked out due to safety concerns.

Unsafe, bugs everywhere. Staff was unable to give me what I paid for. Zero understanding of the situation.

Absolutely lovely hotel, love my room! I stayed in an executive suite with an amazing soaker tub. Only thing while draining it was very loud and the suds came up through the commode & onto the floor. It is also located in downtown Houston, which on the city view side was very loud. My girlfriend had pool view and didn't hear the traffic at all. Otherwise, it's a truly nice hotel and I do plan to return.

Carpet and bathrooms may need an update.

Our room was barely clean and just for the over all price wouldn’t recommend pool and food was good but the rooms defiantly need a true cleaning and upgrade

We were down for a volleyball tournament. The hotel and crowd were very family-friendly. It is connected to the convention center and a self-parking garage, so it's safe and easy, no matter the time of day or weather. The staff was all extremely nice, efficient, and helpful. They were SLAMMED at the valet when we arrived Friday night due to a gala they were hosting and terrible weather, so the line for that was pretty long and slow because there were just so many people. Once we got to the hotel, though, the staff quickly got us in the building and checked us in. We ordered extra linens and room service. Both were delivered in less time than they said it would take. With the number of people who were in the hotel, I expected long wait times and frazzled staff. We saw none of the pressure of them being packed and busy. We are staying there again this weekend for another tournament.

The pool area makes you feel like a resort.

Biggio’s was fine. But there’s a conference in town and the service took literally hours. We went to the other hotel bar, we had four drinks in total very, very expensive. The Texas lazy river was pretty cool, not exactly what I’d hoped for but still kind of a cool novelty feature. Hot tub was pretty dirty and a little grimy no service on the rooftop bar, but there was a actual bar that we could walk up to.

Hotels. com is a total joke. This happens every time. You people literally steal people's money. SCAM left and right. You try to sign up through the hotel then get this nonsense and your room ends up costing all kinds of extra :"fees". Total disgrace

This is one of the nicer hotels we’ve stayed at and will definitely stay again when I’m Houston. The rooftop pool with Texas lazy river is definitely an experience. Day passes to the pool itself are typically $70 so when you factor that in, booking the room for a night or two is a great deal. The rooms were definitely luxury, the staff were all very helpful and friendly. This is a must if in Houston.

I will stay again but no toothbrush and past. That's my only problem 🙄.

Amazing stay!

Everything was amazing! However y car was damaged by valet. Each time I call I’m transferred multiple times, the manager isn’t available or I’m on hold for an hour or more.
